+ alt. colors for the flyer & other scans:

i love taking advantage of my art uni's massive (MASSIVE) scanners for literally anything i can. it's got the most gorgeous grit and scan banding that photoshop trickery cant replicate (though i try lol). so, yes, i literally printed out the b&w flyers, scanned them in, then added color and printed them again to stick on my wall haha.

when digitally adding color, i wanted it to really feel like black ink on colored paper instead of trying to print on color paper and then scan it again (i have done this before idk). i think the xerox-y look is pretty convincing! the green, pink, and purple are my personal favs.

an irl friend suggest i try non-black-ink versions to see what i liked. i think they look cool but some of the text gets a bit lost. still, i like the pale yellow+red ink one. (this almost makes me want to try riso printing this to see what it'd look like 👀👀).

^ this is what the white horse metal barrier edit looked like before I added the Huji Cam filter lol. it wasn't feeling convincing enough like this, so i actually took a photo of my laptop screen with the filter and somehow that looked more real than the actual shot from the show lol. (also, because i've stared at this screenshot for so long, the orange/yellow June 12th poster? is everything on it a reference?? loll)

watching misfits and magic 2 after skipping season 1 (harry potter rip off stories dont super appeal to me but taking them out of the school setting made it 100x more entertaining) and....... listen... why are sam and evan kind of. hm. hmm.

one of the fundamental issues i see with post-resurrection barry allen is that both writers and fans need to elevate him to a more “powerful” position than wally to prove he’s better or equal to his flash. but like. that's not how barry functions as a character. barry is a creative problem solver who doesn't need speed because he uses his powers as a secondary tool in preference to his mind. meanwhile, wally is far more intuitive and his powers work as an extension of his own consciousness so he'll resort to speed first and a viable plan of action second. to remove this characteristic from barry and make him so reliant on speed inadvertantly proves that he can't stand on his own BECAUSE of this constant comparison. tldr; barry shouldn't be the fastest most specialist speedster to ever have been created because he has his own strengths apart from speed mcgee wally and so engages with the audience differently to begin with.

#see all the silver age flash issues where barry pulls random shit out of a hat and wins the fight by vibrating his molecules or whatever #whereas in the issue where wally isn't fast enough to save the helicopter he has to be reminded about other methods he can use #so like there is no point to hype barry's speed b/c 1) why should his audience care when he appeals more towards detective / cop type beats #and 2) he isn't ever going to be as fast as wally in popular consciousness b/c wally fans never stfu about it #anyway this is my thesis statement as to why barry is slower than wally lmao i have a bias so what #overall the need to justify barry's return is so lame like ofc he was better off dead but u brought him back so do smth cool w/ him now? sm #barry allen #wally west #.mine

i was so excited for venom 3 and was so unimpressed 😭 when it ended i was just like “…oh” and i have so many thoughts but i need to watch it again before i fully form them

#and i won’t be paying to see it again in theaters #a quick informal ramble ab my thoughts tho #i feel like what makes any venom media fun and interesting to partake in is the relationship between venom and eddie #like their relationship is the foundation of the plot and everything else happening is in parallel/connected to what’s going on between them #and this movie focused on their relationship like zero percent #like ofc there were a few moments here and there maybe but in all honesty the first time we see any emotion about how they feel ab each #other is at the end of the movie when they realize one of them will have to die #and i feel like we lowkey focused TOO much on the area 51 b plot #like i definitely liked the alien invasion vibes and that aspect but we spent too much time there to be having the same #fun as the first two movies #i feel like they could’ve used the codex as a source of tension between them bc they both were too uncomfortable not being able to mesh #fully whenever they wanted like they’ve spent such a long time together #and this would be removing an aspect of their relationship #esp when the whole thing that makes them special is that they’re symbiotic and have a unique and incredible bond #but ur telling me they can’t fully venom out and they’re both just like darn inconvenient #and then do it anyway a couple of times flippantly like for the dance w mrs chen #which was like such a random plot point to draw the creature back to them #clearly i have more thoughts than i initially believed #venom the last dance #venom 3 #venom #symbrock
