medication is cool as shit and it is life saving but i would be lying if i said i didn’t have mad beef with prozac

#i think i will have been fully off prozac for 2 years in the winter which i think is pretty cool. i’m really glad that my depression has #improved so much #i think it’s really funny that i was able to quit prozac cold turkey (DO NOT DO THIS) like half a year after i started t #thank you for your service prozac but i’m glad to be done with you #i think i’ll leave reblogs off on this one i don’t want people to think i’m saying the goal is always to get off meds #because it’s not #plenty of people including myself will be on meds for the rest of their life and that’s fine #anyways if prozac works for you then congratulations it worked for me for several years and then it became Bad

I really do think an important component of activism is to make sure your motivation is based on a desire to help/improve things for the people being harmed by a system, and not hatred for the ones doing the harm. both for mental health reasons, and because either way you're training your neural pathways and it's gonna turn out a lot better for literally everyone if the question on everyone's mind after achieving a goal is "how/which people can we help next, what's the next step for improving things" and not "who do we need to attack next."

I'm not saying don't be angry, there are a lot of good reasons to be angry right now and it makes for an excellent kick in the pants, just don't define yourself by it or it's gonna poison you and potentially do collateral damage.

#it also makes it so much easier to get sucked down those dangerous algorithm pipelines #I've said it once I'll say it again improving the world is often boring and unglamorous and anticlimactic #but it's fucking important

And that is!! 18 of 18 pages!! It's this long because I didn't want to break up their fight. I hope you enjoy :)

I had to rewrite their fight like,,, 3 times lmao. I'm not very good at writing fights because I'm Incredibly Passive Aggressive and Very Non Confrontational. Thankfully my partner helped me out a bit with making the escalation feel natural, so hopefully their grievances and motivations read well. In the end, both of them are starving probably-emotionally-stunted teenage boys in a high-stress situation, and Tage is being faced constantly with one of the biggest sources of his trauma that he doesn't even remember-- of course he's going to lash out.

Fun thing I learned this time around, if I struggle with planning a chapter, it can kind of help to write it out in prose like I would a fanfic, and then translate it to comic form. This is how I eventually ended up with 18 pages of comic,,, because I can't really estimate how much I'll need to draw when I'm writing in prose. In turn, this did help a lot with adding more natural behaviors between dialogue, like Tage tapping his finger to fidget while crossing his arm, or all of their pointing and gesturing while they're arguing.
