Helsingin Sanomat julkaisi ma 21.3.2023 viimeisen puoluekannatusmittauksen ennen eduskuntavaalien äänestyksen alkua.

Jos sinusta tuntuu, että yllä oleva grafiikka ei näytä ihan siltä miltä pitäisi – jonkin puolueen palkki on makuusi liian lyhyt tai toisaalta liian pitkä – muistathan seuraavat kolme asiaa:

1. Eduskuntavaalien ennakkoäänestys alkaa ke 22.3.2023 ja jatkuu ti 28.3.2023 asti. Varsinainen vaalipäivä on su 2.4.2023.

2. Suomessa äänestetään ensisijaisesti puoluetta ja vasta sitten ehdokasta. Jos vaaliväsymys uhkaa iskeä jo etukäteen, riittää, että valitset mielestäsi parhaan (tai vähiten huonon) puolueen. Ehdokkaan voit halutessasi valita vaikka tikkaa julisteeseen heittämällä, sillä äänesi hyödyttää puoluetta joka tapauksessa – silloinkin, jos oma ehdokkaasi ei pääse läpi.

3. Jos haluat perehtyä ehdokkaisiin tarkemmin, voit vertailla heidän mielipiteitään keskeisistä vaaliteemoista helposti vaikkapa Ylen ja Helsingin Sanomien vaalikoneiden avulla. Ylen kone tarjoaa myös helpon mahdollisuuden vertailla eri puolueiden näkemyksiä isoista teemoista, jos puolue on vielä hakusessa.

My biggest tip for fanfic writers is this: if you get a character's mannerisms and speech pattern down, you can make them do pretty much whatever you want and it'll feel in character.

Logic: Characters, just like real people, are mallable. There is typically very little that's so truly, heinously out of character that you absolutely cannot make it work under any circumstance. In addition, most fans are also willing to accept characterization stretches if it makes the fic work. Yeah, we all know the villain and the hero wouldn't cuddle for warmth in canon. But if they did do that, how would they do it?

What counts is often not so much 'would the character do this?' and more 'if the character did do this, how would they do it?' If you get 'how' part right, your readers will probably be willing to buy the rest, because it will still feel like their favourite character. But if it doesn't feel like the character anymore, why are they even reading the fic?

Worry less about whether a character would do something, and more about how they'd sound while doing it.

a big lesson for me was learning that most things are not as fragile as I’d believed. missing a class, or turning in a bad assignment, won’t instantly destroy your professor’s opinion of you. accidentally saying something harsh won’t make your friend want to end the friendship. it takes work to repair these things - it takes effort and research and sometimes a sincere apology - but you can do that because they’re not irreparably broken. what you’ve worked to build, in academia and in relationships and in life, is stronger and more enduring that your mind may teach you to believe. don’t let imagined fragility lead you to giving up

hello anon. don't apologise, you're a breath of fresh air after the recent visitors in my inbox. I think a slightly more accurate description of Bisan’s ask is to stop or minimise all economic activity not in direct support of Palestine. Now more than ever, I would encourage people to donate to escape funds for Palestinians, to direct aid organisations like CareforGaza and the PCRF, and to buy e-sims as they’re running low.

PCRF / Palestine Children's Relief Fund: non-profit organisation that distributes essential food and resources to families in Gaza. Most recently, they delivered 30 tons of vital medicine, and 82,000 pounds of flour.

Medical Aid For Palestinians: deploys medical teams to treat Palestinians suffering under Israel's malicious bombardments.

Donate e-sims to Palestine: massive post with tutorials and relevant links, with discount codes included in the post and in the replies.

It was so important to me that Stolas was able to be sad throughout the entire episode. Usually media likes to rush a character's grief/depression/sadness. Like "Stop moping around" or "get over it already." Depression doesn't just go away. It is a persistent feeling of sadness.

His depression was also presented through various emotions/emotional states.

Lethargy

Crying

Anger / frustration

Self-blame

Not wanting company and being emotionally drained and unable to reciprocate

We even see him Smiling / Laughing which is so important because we see that he is still in there behind the sadness and tears. His laugh is not as lively as it once but he is still capable of smiling and finding joy.

His problems weren't fix in the end and his sadness didn't go away even if he has someone who loves him by his side (and even if he loves him too). And I think this is one of the best depictions I have seen of a depressed character in media in a long time.
