🪴In times when everything feels overwhelming and your inner world is heavy, know that your strength is not defined by how you feel. Even if today feels dark, you’re still a person of immense value and worth. Take things one moment at a time, and remember that your existence has a quiet resilience. You are doing your beset, and something to be proud of🪴
Thank you💚 sorry I’m not better at responding to stuff but this message meant a lot to me and I’ve been thinking on it all day🖤💚

I do think it’s also important that we don’t get too vocal with this “vote blue no matter who” rhetoric. If it comes down to Biden v. some republican in the general I am almost certainly going to vote for Biden for damage control. But almost all of our politicians (democrats and republicans) just want to stay in power, which they need votes for. If we signal that we’ll vote for Biden regardless of what genocides he funds and bad policies he signs, what is there that keeps him beholden to his voters?
I am queer. I am trans. I am an AFAB person. I know what kind of things are at stake if a republican president gets into office.
But clearly listening to moral arguments has not gotten Biden to quit using our taxpayer money to fund genocide and bomb the Middle East. He’s a politician. He’ll listen to 2 things: effective civil disobedience or protesting and threats to his re-election (aka voting). I do not live in a part of the US where my protesting will have any meaningful impact on his choices, so I refuse to signal to him that nothing he does will make me withhold the second thing he cares about: my vote. I refuse to be complicit in genocide.
When it comes time to vote, I can do whatever the fuck I want, regardless of what I say up until then. And so can everyone else. I will vote against Biden in the primary and I will make a decision in the general as to who will cause the least harm both to ongoing foreign crises and to domestic citizens during their presidency.
Yelling at other voters online changes nothing. Let’s quit fighting amongst each other and start holding our government accountable to morality and the will of their voters. Because if we do that, we can at least change something.
——
Additional note: If people decide not to vote for Biden because of what he’s done in Gaza, I think it’s important to remember a couple things (1) he could stop. If people don’t vote for Biden, I am placing that fault primarily on his decision making and refusal to listen to the will of the American people (2) the DNC could platform someone else if they cared about winning the presidency and doing the things they promise rather than just scaring voters by reminding us how bad the republicans are, and (3) there are people with friends and family in Palestine. I don’t think any of us (especially white liberals) have the right to demand they vote for a man who is currently funding Israeli bombings that either could or have killed people they love.
sorry but i want to hit every american talking about not wanting to vote democrat anymore with hammers. lol

meanwhile notes put up by the guy hired by my dad to help with foreign guests at his little ryokan in rural japan (“my english is not perfect,” said the guy earnestly. “but i think i can always get the meaning across.” “great,” said my dad. “that’s all that matters.”):

Brennan’s talked before about how as a poor young adult he lived in New York and struggled with food security. He tells a story of going to frozen yogurt places for free samples and a cheap dumpling spot because it was a lot of food.
His opinions on food and his described behaviours around food make a lot of sense in that context. He may be successful now and can be assured he can eat again when he’s hungry, but it appears he has legitimate trauma around his experiences with poverty because what he’s humorously describing is a trauma response. His mind hasn’t gotten rid of the anxiety of “I’m eating now so I better make it count because I don’t know when I will again.”
Because he’s a comedian he manages to frame it as a joke, but there’s certainly an underlying sadness. It also informs Evan Kelmp’s characterization. Capitalism is the root issue here and poverty is state-sanctioned economic abuse.
Anyway, I hope he’s doing well and taking care of himself.

PSA, there's a really nasty Discord scam going around rn. If one of your friends DMs you, starting off with a simple "hello" "how are you", may even joke around a little, and then starts asking you to look at a game/project they're working on, don't click the link, don't download anything. If you can reach that friend through non-Discord means, reach out and let them know they got hacked.
One of my friends said the link takes them to a very convincing video game page that has in-game screenshots and stuff, and then gives you an option to download a playtest zip file or something. That download exploits a weakness Discord apparently has for password protected zip files and steals your Discord log-in and changes your account info to the scammer's account info. Two of my friends lost their accounts. Be careful.

End-of-Splatoon thoughts.
Thinking about how since the very start, Splatoon has had a feature where players can draw and post artwork and spot them as graffiti on walls or billboards. Or how the weapons have always been paint brushes and rollers and ballpoint pens. Since its inception, Splatoon has been dedicated to engaging its players with the act of creation and creative expression, showing them how their art can build communities and (literally) change the world.
Thinking about finding golden human-made music discs buried underground for thousands of years, and a grand finale music festival. About the Voyager Golden Records. About those human handprints etched into concrete in Alterna. Did those human artists know it would end like this? First a fiery death and then, eventually, a worldwide celebration of music to represent our shared past, present, and future. Did they know that their songs, insignificant in the face of extinction, would one day become the solution that will save the next dominant life-form from the same fate?
Thinking about how eerily similar the Octarian domes are to Alterna. About how close Inklings and Octolings were to repeating the same mistakes as humans. But their doomed fates were undone not by some miracle technology or military power or a rocket, but by music.
Thinking about how humans wiped themselves out with war, and our parting gifts were liquid crystals that somehow paired with the DNA of primeval inklings and somehow infused them with our memories and culture and a Song. And 12,000 years in the future, that same Song will end a war.
Thinking about how art and music and punk culture and rock & roll and friendly competition and petty arguments and water guns aren’t uniquely human concepts, but the fundamental qualities of intelligent life. An inheritable spirit that can cross evolutionary bounds.
Thinking about the theme of Splatoon, that art and music and fun will not die with the human race. That every piece of art we create is a seed we sow for future generations to reap. That our legacy is ingrained into the crust of the earth. That long after we’re gone, the oceans will remember, and they’ll pick up where we left off.
Thinking about how Splatoon says that the essence of humanity –– the thing that will outlive us –– isn't war or prejudice or destruction or greed, it's a song.

It's getting ridiculous that tgc put unnecessarily expensive prices on some props that are not really worth to buy, while most of the f2p items are indeed getting either useless or poorly done.
And I agree with the feeling that tgc has long lost the respect they had for their players, especially for the fan creators. You will understand what I meant if you read this and also this
Sorry if this might be so sudden especially for you new players and other players that really loves this game, but I want to share awareness from the past as it's.. pretty sad that the company of this really beautiful and inspiring game about friendship and such that I have been loving for years now, is just another dumb company that mostly just care about monies....
Small reminder: If you want to share your own fan concepts or your AUs and other thing you make for Sky, be careful okay?
You might have saw me posted my own fan season or my Sky AU in my blog, though I also aware with this same problem, and I really want to show those because I really really want some people that saw the posts really loves it as much as I do...

not the screenshots but here i am addressing the prices of the days of mischief event.
as a player of 5 years, this makes me want to quit the game and NOT because i don’t have money to afford it (i do, but i’m mostly f2p for the past few months now) but because i feel like tgc has long lost the respect they had for their players.

On Luffy's birthday, I wanna remind all of you that one of the things that makes him one of the most influential and ground-breaking shonen protagonists is that he makes things happen. No fate or prophecy or destiny leads his path. He's the one choosing, freely, what he wants to do and he will do it. And in consequence, he makes things happen in the manga that affect everybody around him. The story doesn't tell him what to do and instead, he is the one telling how the story should go. That and the fact that his whole character is meant to spread the message of following your dreams and living with laughter and joy are the reasons why celebrating his existence is so important to so many.

"Why would you include those images in the book?"
In most sex scenes in Marvel comics - there is none [no sex], actually. You just see - oh, yeah, they wake up from the bed, and the deed has been done. This is one of the comics where we go into it as far as we can. So I think that's what made you think - you find it extremely steamy, or made you think "Oh we need to find a new writer, I'm going to go to your page and say the nastiest things," because of how far we go with it. But I think it's something that is necessary in this art form; we need to push things as far as we can. You wouldn't believe that a major X-Men event came out this same week because there were almost the same amount of discussions about this single page as much as there are on an X-Men event - a crossover event between two X-Men titles is having maybe even less discussion online than a single page from a Storm solo series. So that's the thing - we need to push the envelope. We've got to explore the different aspects of this character's life, [...] she's going to fight, she's going to do all that stuff, and sex is part of human life. It's part of the art form, it's part of storytelling.
- Murewa Ayodele, on why he included the Ororo/Logan scene, and its polarizing online response.

“What if we could let go of the binaries of good or bad, beautiful or ugly when talking about feelings?
What if we could see all feelings as necessary arrows, pointing us towards needs that are met or unmet?
What if we looked like the hard, messy, so-called ugly feelings with curiosity and compassion, rather than repressing them out of shame?”

Also, also, why is it that Yoda straight-up says the Luke's anger reminds him of Anakin's in The Empire Strikes Back and the movie very subtly shows Luke's face under Vader's helmet and fandom just glosses straight over that and says that Luke is just like his mom, but Leia yells about a plan being dumb and likely to get everyone killed a few times, and suddenly she's got the same anger in her that turned Anakin evil for twenty-some years?
