really basically all Big Science Youtube Channels you kind of have to take with a grain of salt because it's like, impossible not to oversimplify or even misrepresent a topic when distilling it down into a short-ish video that's both meant for a general audience and meant to get clicks. though having watched the scishow video on autism (which was lacking in a lot of things i would have included but fine as a general overview) and then the scishow video on hrt, the hrt video comparatively seems much more poorly researched specifically when it comes to hrt for trans women, and i have a really hard time believing that such a big channel couldn't find a trans woman on hrt to contribute to the writing of that video

#like it's such a big oversight and it's very obvious that the trans female perspective is missing #since the presenter is nonbinary and the writer is a trans man #i think it's more laziness than actual malicious intent but like #considering the video is framed as giving actual advice to people unsure about going on hrt accurate information is so important #and they did not bother to have any trans women be in or write that video.

as it turns out gif making is a lot more fun if you don't do it for almost a decade and you forgot everything you ever learned about it and you no longer care about all gifs being the exact same amount of frames or having them all color match 100% or using the same dither for everything

#and also when they can be bigger than 2mb. that also helps #anyway. ph*toshop is like riding a bike except the bike no longer lets me import video frames to layers so now i have to use 80 workarounds

giffing with screencaps is kind of miserable how do you guys do this 😵‍💫

#usually i import video into layers but that method doesn't work with my iwtv s1 download #i am suffering #why are there so many steps #screencap with mpv -> delete duplicates -> load files into stack which ends up taking forever AND THEN i can gif as normal #the deleting duplicates thing is what gets me LIKE WHAT DO YOU MEAN MPV DUPLICATES FRAMES #lmao i'm whining bc i'm not used to it but i'm sure any gifmakers reading this are scoffing rn #tbd #daphne.txt

Randomly remembered all those times someone on a forum or wherever would ask, like, "if your comic was ever turned into a movie or a tv-show, what would you want it to be like", and I was always spewing something about obvious answers like Fortiche or whatever

BUT ACTUALLY. That's wrong.

The correct answer is that I would want it to be filmed as one of those film-student-project fan movies. Where no one has any money and their camera isn't stabilized and the 'sets' are all local buildings but everyone is very committed to making it work with what they have. And all the actors are friends or classmates or someone's parents and therefore look especially real and human.

#wanna see some film student whose drive hasn't yet been muted by the industry choreograph some insane fighting #if it looks campy and the blood is obviously fake but the energy is kept 100% then nothing can be better #and I'm not talking polished cosplay music videos with wigs and perfect outfit replicas no-no #get the essence of the characters and if they don't look like they do on pages then that's GOOD #get an actual butch femme couple in their thirties for Jo and Leah #whom you met at a local queer bar and they were down to help you with the film #get the scrawniest most chaotic girl for Lyoka and who cares if her eyebrows are bushy don't fucking pluck or draw them #'cause she as a character sure doesn't (just lacks in that area) and that's her human characteristic #which is more important than the consistency with the picture #get a black girl with glasses to play Nia and just let her straight up keep her own glasses instead of looking for a round frame #Life is Strange's fan films What If and Dawn are honestly my main examples of what I generally mean #pof posting
