Deckerstar — lost without you 1/1
Summary: In which Father Frank hears of Lucifer's return to Hell, follows in Eve's footsteps by visiting the Devil from time to time, and finally establishes the kind of friendship they had been laying the foundations of before they were both so rudely interrupted by his death.
Alternatively: A Priest Walks Into Hell
(...and, quite possibly, doesn't come back out?)
Ratings: General Audiences
Words: 2.5k+
Warnings: Post-S4. Spoilers ahead. Implied Deckerstar. Canon divergence. Seriously, DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVEN’T FINISHED SEASON 4.
AN: This started out as a crack if and evolved into... something more emotional than I had originally intended it to be because why not *sighs* lol.
AN: This started out as a crack fic and evolved into... something more emotional than I had originally intended it to be because why not *sighs* lol. I wrote this way before the IG takeover by Tom, Ildy and Joe so the fact that Tom wishes he could see Father Frank again but that he couldn't because he's in Heaven and Lucifer is in Hell was just bloody kismet!!!
Title, and song referenced below, is by Freya Ridings which is SO DECKERSTAR except you change 'I have to see the world' to 'I've got to save the world' and I cRYYYYYYY.
Also, Father Frank went to Heaven! But if Amenadiel's theory of Free Will is to be believed—and it obviously can because how else was Eve able to escape Heaven, come back to life and in her original, youthful body, if it can't be—then anyone is free to leave Heaven or Hell, which is how Frank can visit Lucifer. Trust me, I had a whole backstory, I'm just... not... strong enough to write it out so, uh.
Roll with it...?
SHOUTOUT to Devil'sMiracle17 for beta reading the SHIT out of this and whipping it into shape better than I ever could. This was fine, but you made it BETTER and I'm so grateful to have met you through this experience! You have my heart!

“What song is that?”
Lucifer saunters into the designated music chambers of his hellish castle before seating himself onto the bench next to Frank.
“Sounds positively wretched.”
Although, ‘saunter’ might have been too generous a term
slinks would have been the appropriate description—trudge even more so. Unless he holds court with his demons, the Devil doesn’t much care for appearances these days.
At least not when he’s with him.
Dejection has made a home of his friend’s shoulders, so Frank does what he can to, if not extinguish—then alleviate the insidious homesickness that plagues him by providing his more human company.
Little good it does.
Frank sighs. “Something one of the newer, younger residents of the Silver City keeps blasting on repeat through the courtyard speakers. Apparently he’s having a bit of trouble accepting his newfound
state and so the angels have permitted the coping mechanism, however repetitive,” he grumbles. “The other residents have given the kid a wide berth, but I actually like staying in the courtyard and it’s been weeks,” he feels his face pinch in shame, even as he cannot hold back the admission. “Now the song’s always stuck in my head. I can’t catch a break, not even here!”
(And if he, too, benefits just as greatly from their arrangement then no one else need ever be the wiser)
Lucifer snorts. “It’s always nice to be sought, not for the scintillating conversation but, for your ability to provide refuge from angsty teenagers and shrieking, mainstream bops,” he says, drily. “You sure know how to make a Devil feel wanted, Padre.”
Frank chuckles. “Don’t forget the refreshments,” he quips, raising a goblet of demon-brewed ale to his lips and taking a dainty sip because—as he learned the hard way—the beverage was not for the faint of heart, dead or alive.
He rolls his eyes, but there’s the tiniest hint of a curl to the corner of his lips that exposes his amusement, “Oh, of course,” it widens in mischief. “That is, when you’re not puking your guts out after having partaken a little too much of the libations
”
“That was one time!”
“And my hellions are still wiping your vile, regurgitations from the side of my castle, you little weakling!”
The pair of them dissolve into giggles as they recall the events that currently fuel their mirth; Lucifer challenging the priest and he, against his better judgement, indulging him in some petty motivation to prove him wrong. Suffice to say—they both lost that night.
Much, much later, when their nostalgia trails off and their chortles fade, Frank plays the piece in its entirety, complete with its lyrics because he’s heard it so many times it’s that embedded into his mind. Lucifer doesn’t do anything as innocuous as applaud, but Frank can sense his appreciation—recognizes it in the easiness of his breaths and the slackening of his shoulders (however minuscule, tension never truly leaving him, not even in his slumber, in the few times Frank has caught him unaware).
“Sounds like something dear Ella would have listened to.”
It’s mumbled out of the corner of his mouth in evident mockery, a derisive tilt to his articulations. Except it’s lost in the soft lines about his mouth and the brightening of his eyes as he becomes swept in the current of his memories.
So he waits, always waits
happy to let Lucifer dictate the pace of their interactions, the weight of their conversations. He learned early on when they’d reunited that Lucifer suffered through good days and bad days like the best of them, that the good days were often outweighed by the bad, and the one method to temper them that didn’t involve isolating himself on his throne for days at a time, or going on a manic bender, or some crazed combination of both, was when he reminisced of his time on Earth. Or more specifically—
The people that made his time there all the more meaningful.
Though he’d been witness to the Devil’s subtle but present humanity in the all too abrupt time they spent together topside, it is never more apparent than when he speaks of the Earthly family he’d found himself, reluctant maybe but ultimately, belonging to.
Sure, the bulk of his tales involve complaining about the notorious righteousness oozing from Amenadiel’s brawny form (“Never fails to bring up he’s the Favorite Son like, alright! We get it, yeesh!”), and the deviousness with which his newborn nephew commands the adults around him with a mere sniffle
ranting about Maze's betrayal (“Twice, Father. Twice! The audacity of that little demon!”) by teaming up with Cain (“I’m going to need a drink for this, aren’t I?” Lucifer cackles. “Or ten!”), and Linda's maddening advice during his therapy sessions (“She can never just give me the answers, honestly, what else am I paying her for?”), before recounting the whole debacle with Eve—after which he upchucked the contents of his stomach over the side of Lucifer’s balcony.
Yet even amidst the palpable, if thinly veiled, vexation of his intonation, there is that undercurrent of affection that one would have to be blind not to notice... but Frank does, and he is happy. Truly. And everyone he knows, and wouldn’t have known if not for Lucifer’s divulging moods, who is significant to Lucifer has made an appearance in all his, sometimes hurtful but mostly fond, chronicles
 save for one.
Arguably, the most important one.
Yes, it doesn’t escape his notice that Lucifer hardly ever speaks of the detective that spearheaded Frank’s investigation when he had been alive. His friend is in the middle of narrating his experience in a nudist sanctuary, when he cuts himself off in that manner that tells him Chloe is a part of the story.
This is what he does, every time, and it happens so often that it becomes impossible to not discern that she—his partner in every sense of the word—is so deeply interwoven within his past, his present. One need only be in their presence for more than a second to confirm, there was no mistaking the connection between them, whether it is platonic or otherwise. And so Frank is of the firm belief that it would take more than a couple of short-lived dalliances with third parties to crack, what more break, their relationship.
So, he prods. Not hard. Not pressing enough to warrant his anger or, worse, aggravate his sadness. But a little hint here, a nudge there. He can see the strain in Lucifer's muscles and the melancholy that darkens his all ready too dark orbs
 and he's aching.
He can sense the fight brewing in his soul—to speak of her, to bury her memory deep inside himself, to feel her, to wrap her in his darkness, to bring her to the light, to forget her, to remember her. So Frank tells him as much as he can without actually saying the necessary confabulations that he's here, that it's okay. Lucifer can cast his burdens onto him because this is what friends (for this is what they are and yes, his celestial best friend, for all intents and purposes, is the Devil and strange as it is, he wouldn’t have it any other way) do, they listen and they protect and they share the load of your despair as well as they can ‘til finally.
Finally, it spills out of Lucifer like a break in a dam and he is crashing, crashing and all Frank can do is hold him through the tidal wave so he doesn’t drown.
“She loves me,” Lucifer admits openly, softly, even as rivulets stream silently into the collar of his ever-impeccable suit. “She wanted me to stay, and I could not give her even that. I couldn't give her what she desired.”
“Why?”
“That damned prophecy,” he snarls, and his eyes flash red before altogether receding to their natural umber as he further expands on this foretelling, Frank's grimace deepening as a new, priestly, player is introduced and revealed to have preyed on both Lucifer and Chloe’s insecurities through his dastardly manipulations, which resulted in the deaths of a hefty number of innocents.
“And Hell must always have a ruler—a celestial one at that,” Lucifer concludes in muted, hopeless tones.
“Forget the prophecy!” Frank roars, an unexpected heat that tastes of indignation at the awful circumstances that seem to follow Lucifer no matter how undeserving he is of them, coursing through his veins. “Do you love her?”
And the despondency lifts for even just a fraction, replaced by a familiar exasperation.
“Haven't you been listening? First love equals destruction upon humanity? I don't really know how much clearer than the risk of an apocalyptic threat I can get.”
Frank raises an eyebrow. “I've yet to hear you actually declare your love in relation to her name, Lucifer.”
“Ah,” he breathes, and fiddles with a cufflink, which only gives away his unease. “Funny, that—I've also yet to say them to her. Really say them. I just keep calling her my First Love, which, not a lie! Still,” he shrugs but the nonchalance is misplaced in the tremble of his hands, as he lifts his own goblet to his lips for a particularly long gulp before he, mingled with an uncharacteristic sheepishness, huffily continues, “I do adore you, Frank, but if it’s all the same to you, I would much prefer that the first time I say them, properly, it would be to her, yeah? We both know how awful I am at communication and at this point in the game, I wouldn't want any wires getting crossed and all...”
Frank takes pity on the poor creature and halts his rambling with a steady hand to his shoulder. “So, tell her.”
Lucifer gapes. "Sure, because it's as easy as fluffing my wings out and landing at the foot of her bed. Silly me, why hadn't I thought of this before? Oh, that's right! Something to do with Evil being unleashed upon the whole of humankind? Ring any bells? We were literally just talking about this. Am I doing something wrong? Wait, what am I saying. I'm perfect.” Lucifer shoots him a look so pitying, Frank must restrain himself from cuffing him in the back of his head out of annoyance.
“Heaven really does make the lot of you dull, doesn't it?”
The things he puts up with

“There's always gonna be something, Lucifer,” he entreats (ignoring his last statement). “In any relationship. Sometimes it's fear of commitment, other times it’s disagreements on expenses or the number of kids you want. In your case, it just so happens to be the possibility of the end of the world.”
“Is that all?” he growls, voice dripping with disdain.
“The point is—would you rather face it alone? Or take the risk together? Come on, Lucifer,” he wants to weep.
Frank doesn’t understand where this vehemence stems from, but it seizes his body with an urgency that feels as natural as his phantom heartbeat. Because he’s caught tendrils of this peculiarity before, but never so glaring as now—this fire in his chest and a carillon in his brain that blares, Lucifer does not belong here. Lucifer ruling Hell reeks of all kinds of wrong. But what he’s coaxing him to do
it feels right. Because Chloe and Lucifer feel right.
They are true.
So he asks him, though he can surmise the answer, “Are you willing to fight for that love?”
And Lucifer doesn't hesitate, not for a second. Not for a heartbeat. He doesn't even take a breath before his assent spills forth from his mouth.
“Yes,” he whispers. Then, firmer—louder, “Yes. I want to fight. For her. For us.”
Because of course he would, the rebel son of God. He would.
“Then what are you standing around here talking to me for? Go!”
“And what of Hell? What's to stop the demons from coming after me again. It would really help against whatever's coming if I wasn’t worrying about a possession epidemic on top of the apocalypse.”
And Frank thinks about those scant seconds before he died. How fleeting but impactful his last words had been. “Maybe he put me in yours,” he had said. “Your Father has a plan.” He thinks about how easily the words had slipped out, almost of their own volition.
He thought dying meant the cold. But—in that transitory precipice of life and death, the sanguine fluid that fueled his essence leaking from his body and staining his cassock, and Lucifer’s hands, red—held in the arms of the Devil, all he felt was warmth
a glowing fireplace after a day in the snow, the fiery embers of a bonfire, the comforting flame of an inimitable presence scoring across his heart, engulfing his soul. It was magnificent.
One might even say divine.
And in that moment, he knew.
“I'll do it,” he says. “I will rule Hell in your stead.”
And he can see Lucifer gunning for a laugh ‘til he notices the steely glint in Frank's eyes, the resolve firming the lines of his figure, making him seem taller. Stately. Royal.
“Have I ever told you,” he starts, a smirk burgeoning on his lips, “that my full name is Frankiel?”
“Spear of God,” Lucifer translates, slowly.
“Your Father has a plan,” he repeats.
Understanding dawns in Lucifer's eyes.
“Doesn't mean it's always a good one,” he ripostes, weakly.
“And yet,” Frank chuckles, surety making him bold, excited even, as he gathers him into his arms. “I’m certain that in this, we can both agree—it is. It works.” He nods onto the taller man’s stiff shoulder. “It has to.”
Because this is what he endured the pain of living for—so that in death, he could give another a chance to be reborn, to return the love which had been so lost to him before. Because God may work in mysterious ways, but He used him as a vessel and revealed the truth of Lucifer to him, so that he could use his final breaths to bestow a glimmer of hope into His son.
He would accept no other explanation apart from this miracle unfolding before him—all the cogs and wheels that made up his life, and afterlife, shifting into perfect gear.
He says as much to Lucifer, and though he shakes his head as if in denial, he gradually returns the embrace. Frank closes his eyes—and knows that same hope that tethered him in those final, critical, beautiful moments of his life, is now a living, breathing entity in Lucifer’s own soul because—when he opens them, the Devil is gone.
There is much to work out—the insurgence of the demons that will surely reignite at Lucifer’s once more, and final, departure, arranging visits with his daughter, how to get up on that damned throne, perhaps begin forging a new one in its stead, figure out whatever his freshly-anointed status truly entails. There will be time for all of that, eons of it, even. But for now

The priest walks out onto the edge of the balcony that overlooks his newfound domain—Hell is a sprawling, ebony terrain before him.
And this, quite naturally, is how Father Frank ends up ruling it.
AN: Honestly, I wrote this because I just really miss Father Frank. Even after S4 'A Priest Walks into a Bar' is still hands down one of my most favorite episodes in all four seasons.
And, just as Father Frank, I too would sacrifice my spot in Heaven if it meant Deckerstar could be together. LET THEM BE HAPPY!!!
Speaking of, I got some bigger stuff in the works. This came to me at a 4am, sleep-deprived yet frenzy, haze and wouldn't leave me alone till it was written. I know, the lack of Chloe in this is abysmal XD but rest assured, the Deckerstar program should resume soon so, stay tuned!

76 Did They or Didn’t They? + 63 Mistaken For a Couple
.
Ella bounces on her toes as she heads down to breakfast. The hotel is nice, nicer than the ones the precinct usually assigns when they’re sent to conferences, but she has no doubt that it’s because of the consultant that’s tagging along with them this time.
Lucifer is already at the table, looking as proper and pretty as ever. His arm is slung across the back of the chair beside him, where Chloe sits. Dan is across from them, studiously avoiding her gaze. She’d waited fifteen minutes after he left to head downstairs.
Chloe is speaking, gesturing with a fork with a piece of melon on the end. Ella joins them to a small chorus of greetings. “Hey guys.” She’s a little nervous, but no one seems to pick up on it. Their conversation gets interrupted by a hotel employee.
“Mr. Morningstar, we just wanted to apologize again for the inconvenience and hope that the rest of the accommodations were to your liking?”
He smiles. “Yes, they were. Thank you. I appreciate all the trouble you went to.”
“No trouble at all, Mr. Morningstar. We hope you and your wife enjoy the rest of your stay.
Chloe chokes on her fruit.  Lucifer merely blinks in confusion, but the employee has already vanished.
“What happened?” Ella asks, curious.
“Oh, a pipe started leaking in my room and the ceiling started doing that weird bloating thing. They said they’d be happy to comp my room and switch me to another, but it just seemed less hassle to move to the upstairs suite.”
“Wait, wait, wait. Are you saying you stayed in Lucifer’s room?” Dan asks, eyebrows raising.
Lucifer isn’t impressed. “Well, I wasn’t going to leave the Detective out in the cold when I had the whole suite to myself. I offered it to you and Ella as well, remember?”
Ella does remember. And she remembers that they politely declined and took the rooms they’d been given. That way there wouldn’t be questions when Dan slipped into her room. She fights down a blush. “Right.”
“And it’s the best room the hotel has, anything else they offered you would be substandard.” Lucifer sniffs.
“And so you two spent the night together. In separate beds.” Dan looks at them suspiciously.
“Are you suggesting I would take advantage of the fact the Detective was in close proximity?” Lucifer seems offended. “I am not a teenage boy, Daniel. I am capable of self control. Not to mention considering Detective Decker any less than the height of propriety.”
Ella stomps on Dan’s foot. Just because they were sneaking around doesn’t mean Lucifer and Chloe were. His projecting is going to catch them out. Dan stiffens. “Right. Sorry.”
Lucifer looks a bit perturbed, but the expression fades. “It’s quite all right. I think we’ll take our leave, now. The Detective must get ready for the conference.”
“Sure,” Ella says, grinning brightly, “We’ll see you guys there.”
But right as Chloe bends to pick up her bag from the ground, her collar gapes just wide enough for Ella to catch a sight of reddish marks low on her throat. A squeak gets caught in her throat, unvoiced. She knows a hickey when she sees one.
She smothers a grin as they walk away together, Lucifer’s palm at Chloe’s back. Height of propriety, huh.

an art like any other (2/2)
Dying - It is an art; like everything else I do it exceptionally well. (Lady Lazarus, Sylvia Plath)
Pairing: Lucifer Morningstar/Chloe Decker Rating: M Words: 4224 Warnings: (Temporary) Character Death, Depictions of Torture Ao3
This is a double prompt fill. First for the lovely @mischief-with-sandra, who asked, “What if Chloe died and Lucifer only knew because he became invulnerable again?”
The other comes from @luciferprompts, and suggested the evocative image of Lucifer pinned to a wall by his wings. I decided to combine them into the ultimate angst with a happy ending story.
Huge amounts of whump ahead. I do promise to make it better by the end.
“Lucifer!”
Chloe jerked awake with a gasp, her partner’s name on her lips. For an instant, she was aware only of the all-consuming imperative. Find Lucifer.
There was a storm of noise around her, but all of it was meaningless. Lucifer needed her.
She started to get up, only to find herself prevented from rising. She struggled blindly before a single voice penetrated the rushing like wings in her ears.
“Chloe! Chlo, take it easy. Just relax, okay?”
She paused for a single second, trying to place the familiar voice. Dan, she decided. It was a bittersweet name, but mostly warm. Safe.
She subsided, and the weight across her chest was removed. Chloe realized her ex-husband must have thrown himself bodily across her to restrain her.
“Welcome back, Chloe. Welcome back.” His voice sounded oddly muffled. Chloe blinked, her surroundings gradually coming into focus.
She was in an ambulance, strapped to a gurney, and Dan was sitting next to her, looking at her like he couldn’t quite believe she was real. It was the look he’d worn on their wedding night, but less frequently as the years went on. Also in the back was a gaggle of paramedics, standing around with their mouths open, somehow looking even more dumbstruck than Dan.
She frowned. None of this made sense. Her mind filled with light and music and that burning compulsion, it took far longer than it should have for her to engage her detective instincts. “What’s going on?”
Dan rubbed a hand over his face. He’d been crying, Chloe realized, the odd sound of his voice finally connecting for her.
“You
” His mouth worked a few times as machines beeped steadily in the background. “What’s the last thing you remember?” he finally attempted, resting a gentle hand on her arm. Chloe looked down at it in confusion, unsure what it was supposed to be for.
“I
” She could hardly think past the directive pulsing in her head. Find Lucifer. Find Lucifer. She wasn’t sure why she was still here. “There was
a warehouse.” She remembered that much. There was one in her mind too, a very specific one she had to find immediately. “Lucifer. I have to find Lucifer!”
She tried to rise again, and again Dan held her in place. “Chloe, you died. You died, Chloe! You got shot in the back of the head, you were dead before the backup team even found you.” He gulped, obviously gathering composure, and Chloe placed her hand over his, the compulsion quieting.
“They just called it. And then you just
” Dan ran his hands through his hair, obviously shaken. “It’s impossible, Chlo. Absolutely impossible!”
Chloe took a deep, shuddering breath. She didn’t know what to think about all this, but she was here now, and other things were more important.
“What about Lucifer?” she asked.
Dan sighed. “No one knows. Half of the backup crew said he wasn’t there, the other half said they saw him but he disappeared. No one knows where he is.”
“I do,” Chloe said simply, swinging her legs over the side of the gurney. This time, Dan made no move to stop her, though some of the paramedics made involuntarily sounds. It wasn’t as though they had any actual room to protest. Chloe felt fine. Better than fine. She felt invincible.”We have to find him, Dan, he’s in trouble.”
Dan followed her out of the ambulance, probably because he didn’t know what else to do. She’d take it, for now. Her phone vibrated as she walked to where she’d parked her cruiser, however long ago, with Lucifer beside her, plotting their strategy (though not without the occasional quip. No matter how serious the undertaking, Lucifer was Lucifer.)
She didn’t know what was wrong or where he was other than a constant beacon beckoning her forward.
She checked her phone’s display: it was Maze.
“Where’s Lucifer?” her roommate barked, without preamble, when Chloe picked up. “I can’t-” she heard teeth snap together as Maze cut herself off. “I can’t contact him,” she finished, with effort.
“I know where he is, but I’m heading over right away,” Chloe answered as she got behind the wheel. Dan slid in beside her, unprompted. “If I knew where I was going, I’d tell you where to meet us, but I just know how to get there.” She switched to Bluetooth and drove, her destination pulling at her like magnetic north.
To her surprise, Maze took that in stride, though she also swore creatively.
“I can’t track you,” she said. Chloe didn’t waste time asking what that meant. She needed Maze.
“Dan’s with me.” It didn’t come out as the question she’d intended.
She could practically hear Maze’s answering smile. “I can track him. Be right behind you, Decker.” She hung up.
Chloe spared a single thought for why Dan should be “trackable” while she wasn’t, but she dismissed it as irrelevant. She continued to drive, following the directions in her head like a GPS, while Dan remained silent, occasionally shooting her wondering glances.
Her directive was taking up too much space in her head to really process the fact that she had apparently come back from the dead, but she knew it would have to be dealt with soon. She put a surreptitious hand to the back of her head, feeling nothing there but whole skin, no scar, or indeed mark of any kind. Dan tracked the movement, breathing out a fervent curse.
Chloe shook her head, putting both hands back on the wheel. Later.
Find Lucifer.
They arrived at another nondescript warehouse. Maze appeared almost as soon as she’d parked, accompanied by Amenadiel. She sniffed, shuddering, as Chloe got out of the car.
“You stink, Decker,” she said in disgust. Chloe frowned.
“Well I was just in a shootout, so sorry I didn’t take the time to shower.”
Maze shook her head. “Not what I meant,” she said, though she did not elaborate. Chloe turned to Dan.
“Now, I want you to wait out here and call for backup,” she said. “The Sinnerman might still be in there.”
Dan nodded at the directive, then blinked. “Wait. You’re going in?”
Chloe spread her hands. “I have to find Lucifer.” The directive was even more insistent now, prodding at her skull. Dan grabbed her arms.
“What the hell, Chloe?” he exclaimed. “You just died, and now you’re going into another warehouse without backup?”
Both Maze and Amenadiel’s head snapped up at that, her roommate’s mouth forming an ‘o’ of comprehension.
“What do you mean, died?” Amenadiel demanded.
Maze rounded on him. “Can’t you smell it?” she asked. “She stinks of Heaven.”
Amenadiel’s eyes blew wide. “And if Lucifer was with her
” He drew himself up, looking like a soldier receiving marching orders. “We need to find him. Now.”
None of this made any sense to Chloe except the last.
“Glad to have you on board,” she snapped, patience wearing thin. “Now, can we please go?” She shook Dan off when he tried to protest again. “No, Dan. I have to do this. I’ll have Amenadiel and Maze and we’re not splitting up. Call backup.”
She walked away, ignoring Dan shouting her name as Amenadiel and Maze fell into step beside her.
Maze kicked open the door, and Chloe went in, gun drawn, Amenadiel her silent shadow. Chloe’s ears strained, but she couldn’t hear anything. She didn’t know whether or not that was a good sign.
“This way,” she whispered, leading them unerringly through twisting, dank corridors until they entered a cavernous room.
There was a spotlight shining on something at the far end, and the sudden brightness blinded Chloe. Beside her, however, Maze and Amenadiel made identical sounds of horror.
She was terrified to learn what could have elicited such a reaction from both of them, but also couldn’t stand not knowing. Blinking rapidly, she raised a hand to shade her eyes.
A moment later, she clapped both hands to her mouth, though not soon enough to keep a shocked gasp from escaping.
She was a homicide cop, and used to grisly crime scenes, but this

The bastard had hung him up on the wall.
His body was suspended from two pegs driven into the wall beneath his shoulders, his arms hanging loosely by his sides, his head lolling towards his bare chest.
All Chloe could see, however, were the two massive wings spread out behind him, as though he’d been captured mid flight. They were pinned to the wall, like a butterfly on display, the gleaming white feathers marred by rivulets of blood cascading down from nails placed at each joint. The blood gathered in a pool beneath his feet, which were also nailed through, one atop the other, and the air was filled with its coppery scent.
They’d found Lucifer. But Chloe almost wished they hadn’t.
“Lucifer.” The word was barely a puff of air. “Oh god.”
Maze let out a strangled roar, rushing forward. “Get him down. Get him down!”
It shook Chloe out of her stupor, and she forced herself to move closer. Before she could make her mouth work to ask how they were going to get up to him, Maze leaped twelve feet in the air, grabbing one of the pegs to anchor herself as she immediately began yanking on the nearest rod securing Lucifer to the wall.
Lucifer stirred at that, thrashing weakly, his mouth opening in a silent scream before emerging as an animal whine that Chloe could have gone her entire life without hearing, thank you very much.
“Mazikeen!” Amenadiel shouted, currently stacking crates like they were pillows. “Take it easy, you’ll kill him!” He extended a hand to her.
“Get up there, Chloe,” he said. “Try to keep him calm, so he doesn’t hurt himself.”
Chloe took the hand with only a moment’s hesitation and found herself boosted up almost to Lucifer’s eye level.
He was canted forward at an angle (the whole damn thing was so orchestrated) so she was suddenly very close to him. This close, there was no denying the reality of the feathered appendages sprouting from his back (fake wings wouldn’t have bled, anyway) but she shoved the impending breakdown aside. Lucifer was in pain.
The first rod came free, clattering to the floor with a sound that couldn’t cover up Lucifer’s inhuman moan of agony. It was automatic, then, to try to comfort him.
His face was unmarred, and she placed a careful hand along his jaw, carding the other gently through his hair.
“Lucifer. Lucifer, honey, can you hear me?” The endearment fell unthinking from her lips. “You’re safe now. I’ve got you. You’re gonna be okay.”
Lucifer’s eyes slitted open. It took a long moment for him to focus on her face. Chloe tried for a reassuring smile but Lucifer inhaled sharply, twisting away as though trying to avoid her.
“No. No, please,” he managed brokenly, his voice weak and thready, and Chloe felt her heart shatter. “Take it away.”
She forced down the instinctual hurt - he surely wasn’t in his right mind currently - and tried to keep him steady as Amenadiel spoke behind her.
“No sign of company but we gotta get this done fast.” She was grateful for him watching their backs - all of her training had gone completely out of her head - and he clambered up on some more crates to start on the other side.
Lucifer made a shuddering groan as Amenadiel worked, starting to slump. The tang of blood in the air intensified and Chloe fought back bile.
“Come on, Lucifer,” she entreated, stroking more urgently as though she could erase what had been done to him with her touch alone. “Come on, stay with me. Stay with me, honey.”
“You
didn’t,” he rasped out, barely intelligible, and Chloe felt tears prickle in her eyes.
“I did, I did stay, look, here I am,” she said desperately, but Lucifer just tossed his head in wordless denial.
Chloe continued her ministrations, knowing she wasn’t going to get through to him in this state. Lucifer cried out hoarsely as another rod clattered to the floor and slid forward even more. She did her best to support his dead weight, touching him everywhere she could reach.
“It’s almost over,” she soothed, holding him as he shuddered against her. “I promise. It’ll be okay,” she repeated, over and over, trying to convince herself as much as him.
“I’m sorry,” he gasped out. “I’m so sorry.”
Her tears falling in earnest now, Chloe repeated her meaningless platitudes, voice thick as she wondered what he thought he had to apologize for.
Finally, with an animalistic keen from Lucifer, he was released, and Chloe bore his full weight for only a second before Maze was there, catching him and lowering him down gently, more carefully than she’d ever seen her roommate do anything.
Before she knew it, Chloe was peppering Lucifer’s brow with kisses, chanting his name as her tears fell on his face.
“Get her out of here, Maze,” Amenadiel ordered, looking down at his nearly comatose brother.
“I’m not leaving him!” Chloe growled, spreading her arms across his body protectively.
“He’s going to bleed out with you still here!” Amenadiel exclaimed. “Maze, get her out!”
As Maze obeyed, Amenadel turned to Lucifer, who was breathing shallowly, wings twitching. He did his best to staunch the puncture wounds, but with the knowledge that it was mostly futile. Lucifer had already lost so much blood.
“Come on, little brother,” he said roughly. “Don’t die on me.”
Now, more than ever, he felt like a failure. He should have been able to heal his brother, sweep out his feathers and take away his pain. Instead, he had to watch him suffer, struggle to draw breath.
“You’re stronger than this, Luci.” The words were desperate rather than reassuring. “This can’t be how it ends for you.” He placed a careful hand on Lucifer’s shoulder, feeling muscles tremble as he clung to life.
“Chloe’s alive,” he told his brother. “She hasn’t gone anywhere, so you don’t have to either, Luci.”
That, at least, got a reaction - a bitter laugh that sounded like scraping glass, more blood saturating his makeshift bandages, and Amenadiel held both shoulders tighter.
“Shh, Luci,” he soothed. “Don’t move.”
Angels didn’t go into shock, but wing trauma was able to incapacitate them like nothing else - and he’d never heard of such a torture being applied to an angel before. Just the thought of anything piercing the hyper-sensitive appendages had Amenadiel aching in sympathy.
“Hold on,” he begged his brother, but Lucifer’s movements were becoming weaker. “Hold on.”
He had no idea how Lucifer was going to get back from Hell. They had no one to send after him, and he had a sneaking suspicion Lucifer wouldn’t want to come back on his own, this time.
Amenadiel wasn’t sure when he started praying. It was a prayer without words, a memory of grace, of Lucifer and their brotherly bond. Not the way he was before the Fall: the generous, childlike, caring (yes, caring) person he’d made himself into. Occasionally insightful, often infuriating, but also willing to have his back when it counted, and vice versa. The way he’d unhesitatingly offered assistance in imitating him, despite how it had all played out. How different he was around his detective, how she was changing him, how he was allowing himself to be changed, just by being near her.
He wanted to see that continue, wanted his brother to be healed in every way, with an ache that shook him to his very soul.
The instant he thought that, the instant he wished wholeheartedly for Lucifer’s happiness, not out of any selfish motive, was the moment it happened.
His wings erupted from his back, as whole and hale as if they’d never been away, and Amenadiel began to laugh.
Thank you, Dad, he sent toward the Heavens, feeling love and grace and blessedness envelop him once more like a cloak. But he didn’t waste time rejoicing in his absolution, in the pleasure of reconnecting with his brothers and sisters, with the legacy of his Father.
Without hesitation, he carded his fingers into his new-grown feathers, plucking out a handful and getting to work.
“Nice try, brother,” he muttered, mostly to himself. “But this is not a day you die.”
*
“What the hell, Maze?”
Chloe was doubled over to catch her breath, hands on knees, winded even though she’d done nothing more strenuous than be carried, slung over Maze’s shoulder like a sack of potatoes. She knew it should shock her more, but there was only so much room in her head and it was currently all taken up by Lucifer.
“Take me back,” she demanded, already stomping off in a random direction, only to be stopped by Maze’s iron grip.
“You make him vulnerable, Decker,” Maze hissed, eyes blazing. “Get it? He’s in more pain because of you.”
Chloe shook her off (Maze allowed her to shake her off) as the words sank in.
Maze herself was unaffected. “I would have taken you further away, only
” She kicked the figure at their feet that Chloe hadn’t noticed until that moment. “This scum has Lucifer’s blood on his hands.”
Chloe drew her gun automatically, but before she could decide what she wanted to do with it, Maze’s knives were out and she was drawing one across the man’s throat. Chloe shouted, either in protest or warning, she wasn’t sure, jumping back to avoid the spray of blood.
Only
there wasn’t one. The man didn’t even turn around, simply continued to stare up at Chloe with a serene smile on his face.
“What?” Maze’s voice was untuned with shock. “But a blade forged in Hell should
” She grabbed the man by his hair, wrenching his head up. Even then, the man wouldn’t look at her. “What are you?” she demanded.
“I’m the Sinnerman,” he replied, and Chloe tightened her hold on her gun. The man in front of her was responsible for all the gruesome murders they’d been investigating over the past few months, for the horrific torture of her partner. White hot rage was coursing through her veins, and she drew deep breaths through her nose to focus.
“What are you?” Maze repeated, tossing the Sinnerman like a ragdoll. The man just chuckled, like they were all chatting over tea rather than a tense standoff in a parking lot.
“Does it matter?” he asked.
“Yes, it fucking matters,” Maze growled, but the Sinnerman had already dismissed her, looking at Chloe.
“You,” he breathed, and Chloe felt dirty, somehow. “I have achieved my life’s work. All I have ever worked for has been for this moment. Now you must play your role, and end it all. Please.” Heedless of Maze’s grip, he positioned himself more squarely in front of her gun. “Kill me. End my existence. Only you, God’s miracle, can harm me.”
“What?” Chloe shook her head, trying to think past the haze of fury and the reckoning of all she’d seen today. She had to fall back on what was familiar. “No
no, you’re under arrest, we’re taking you in
”
“What?” Maze exclaimed, but it was drowned out by the Sinnerman’s cry.
“No! It has to be you! I implore you, do it! Shoot!”
“Do it, Decker!” Maze ordered roughly, but their insistence only made Chloe more determined. Still shaking her head, she started to take a step back, lowering her gun.
In a flash, the Sinnerman had grabbed her hands, putting the barrel to his forehead. With an expression of pure bliss on his face, he tightened his grip, forcing her to pull the trigger.
Chloe leaped back, her yelp hidden by the report of the gun, as the man responsible for so much pain and suffering collapsed at her feet, half his head blown away, still smiling.
There was silence for a long moment, Chloe breathing hard like she’d just run a marathon.
“He’s dead,” Maze said roughly, rising to her feet. “He must’ve been what was blocking Lucifer from me. Now I can feel him again. He’s
he’s all right.” The demon couldn’t hide her massive relief. Chloe closed her eyes and slowly counted to ten. There was way too much, she couldn’t process it. Her brain was shutting down but one thought remained crystal clear.
Lucifer. Find him, go to pieces afterward.
“Take me back,” she said firmly.
When they re-entered the warehouse, they saw Lucifer, sitting up largely under his own power, supported by Amenadiel. He still had wings, huge and white and even more incomprehensibly beautiful, now that they weren’t covered in blood. And beside him, Amenadiel had wings too, jet black and looking like they were shaped for speed. Chloe barely noticed.
“Lucifer!” she exclaimed, rushing toward him, not even minding the impossibility of the wings if it meant she had another mental image to replace the one of him captured and in pain.
Lucifer flinched away from her advance and Chloe halted, confused hurt rushing through her. She raised her hands instinctively, wondering if he might somehow see her as a threat.
“Lucifer?” It was a question this time.
“No.” Lucifer shook his head rhythmically from side to side. “No, you can’t be here.”
“Lucifer
” Chloe lowered her hands but didn’t attempt to move any closer. “I am here, it’s me.”
“But you’re dead,” Lucifer informed her flatly, his eyes like the inside of a grave. “I saw you, I held you
I was immortal again.” His voice broke.
Chloe, tears falling steadily down her cheeks, couldn’t answer.
“She’s back,” Maze said, walking forward to kneel at Lucifer’s side. “They sent her back, I smell it on her.”
“It’s true, brother.” Amenadiel spoke up urgently. “She’s been resurrected. It wasn’t her time.”
Doubt crept into Lucifer’s expression. “Why would Dad
?” The spark was quenched as quickly as it came. “No. It has to be a trick.”
“Well, there’s an easy way to find out,” Maze drawled, drawing a stiletto out of her boot. “Prick him with this. When he bleeds, he’ll know.”
“No.” Chloe was surprised by the ringing pronouncement, even more so when she realized it came from her. Lucifer’s eyes snapped to hers, shocked.
“I’m not going to hurt you again,” Chloe told him softly, edging closer. “Not even a little.” She held out a hand, as Lucifer stared at her.
“Do you trust me?” she asked.
Lucifer swallowed hard. “Yes,” he said. Then, more forcefully, “I do.”
Chloe smiled. “Then trust me,” she said, and reached out to cup his face in her hand.
Lucifer shivered, inhaling sharply, gazing at her with unbridled wonder.
“But
you died,” he whispered, and Chloe smiled wider through her tears.
“Apparently, I got better,” she said, repeating his own words from so long ago, and he placed his hand over hers, eyes wet.
“Chloe,” he said, and she felt a frisson run through her at his use of the name, at his obvious joy and relief. Presently, she remembered the backup that was supposed to be on its way and sighed.
“Let’s get out of here,” she suggested.
“With pleasure,” Lucifer said darkly, and she and Amenadiel pulled him to his feet. She blinked, and Amenadiel’s wings had disappeared, followed by Lucifer’s a second later. It was only then that she noticed the items arranged in cases around them, reminding her forcibly of the religious artifacts auction (though she had a sneaking suspicion all of them were real).
“Do you remember anything, Chloe?” Amenadiel asked, as they began to move toward the exit, Lucifer steady but keeping his arm around Chloe from where she’d helped him up. Chloe didn’t feel the need to change the situation either. Lucifer’s grip on her flexed as she shook her head.
“I don’t even remember
what happened,” she said honestly. It was why she was having such a hard time believing everyone. “I just remember being in the warehouse and then waking up in the ambulance knowing where to find Lucifer.” She wasn’t sure what to make of the thought that she’d apparently gone to Heaven and been sent back.
Chloe didn’t miss the significant look that Amenadiel gave Lucifer. The latter just rolled his eyes, but he did pull her tighter against him. Chloe didn’t object.
“Probably for the best,” Lucifer said airily. “Such a dreadfully boring place.”
Chloe couldn’t help it; she giggled, feeling the breakdown coming on the horizon. Lucifer, her partner, was actually the Devil. She’d died - actually died - but she was still here, alive. She’d almost left Trixie behind, left everyone she cared about
But she’d apparently been sent back from Heaven with the mission to save Lucifer.
Hysteria bubbled up within her and she swallowed it back with difficulty. She looked up at Lucifer and found him looking back at her. So much had changed, but the steady warmth in his eyes grounded her like few other things could. She smiled, and squeezed back.
They had a lot to talk about. Maybe almost too much. But she would much rather deal with it with him than alone.
Snaking her arm around, she twined her fingers with his, holding tight. She never intended to let go. Then, together, they stepped out of the warehouse, into the light.

So I may or may not be actually insane for this but...
I just plop in "completed", "English", exclude things/pairings I dont like and.....sort by update. Yes, this means the list is in the thousands. Yes, this means that sometimes it takes me literally months to go through the thing. But at least I know that very few fics have probably slipped through the cracks that I was interested in. (What about uncompleted fics you ask? It's a toss up. After I finish the initial stage I just refresh to my pairing (with everything else unfiltered and if a fic updates I will see it. If it doesnt...I saved myself anxiety by not reading an incomplete fic)
I...thought most people did this...
(The only exception to this so far has been wangxian, because classes have been insane so I mostly go by wangxianficrecs and wangxianficfinder on tumblr to get my recs.)
If sorting by kudos isn't the best way to find quality fic, what is?

Chapter 2 of my Deckerstar Halloween Exchange fic for @magicwithcolors, for the prompt “melodramatic.” With thanks to @skaoi-on-ao3 for the beta, and the suggestion that helped me figure out where this chapter was going.
CN: this chapter contains discussion of domestic violence.
Fic summary: Chloe hadn’t been planning to go to Lux’s Halloween party. For one thing, it was a murder mystery party, something she had a hard and fast rule against. She solved real crimes for a living, and didn’t need to spend her free time solving imaginary ones. For another, she usually avoided going out on Halloween; the parties got a little too crazy a little too fast for her taste. And then there was the fact that the host of this particular party had been acting like a grade-A jerk for the last few weeks.

you know what? i have to make a post. getting real frustrated of people reblogging my deckerstar gifsets to complain about the "lack" of sex scenes in s5.
first of all, there is no longer any 5a and 5b. it's all one season. we got a very hot scene in 5x06.
second of all, lucifer doesn't have ANY sex scenes besides the deckerstar one. it's not that kind of show. sex is implied and mentioned a lot bc lucifer used it as a coping mechanism for a long time, but we never SAW him having sex with anyone else.
i feel like a lot of people saw this switch to netflix and thought we would get like an hbo tits out all sex every episode scenario but that was never gonna happen bc the showrunners said they wanted to keep the same vibe to the show.
and please keep in mind that we almost did not have this. we almost didn't have anything after 3x24. some of us worked our asses off for a month straight to get netflix interested in this show and are really happy we got to see deckerstar "just hold hands" and "only share a few kisses" because we almost didn't.
plus, there is still an entire season of them as a couple to go so idk where the complaints are even coming from tbh. it's not like the show is over and they'll never kiss again.

Behind The Scenes Video
youtube
Ignore the fact that I accidentally watermarked it with the number 519...
The Case & Deckerstar
Now we can start with the case of the week.
The murder happens at Golf n Stuff which is rather popular due to the scenes that were shot there for The Karate Kid. Rafferty was actually giddy over that.
So we have a murder. After over 70 episodes we know that the case of the week is somehow connected to the main plot and that it leads to a resolving of Lucifer’s issues or at least a small or big breakthrough.
The victim in this case was burned to death or at least he was
charred. A bit like how Mum ‘enlightened’ Jared in 2x17 but worse.
(In order to make sure most bts are included I have put them in the same file in their original resolution and you need to open the image and zoom. You can do it from your PC, MAC or mobile)
Tumblr media
The mini golf has several fun statues like knights and pirates but what was not supposed to be there was the figure at the hole where nearby the victim was found. To be more You might have guessed it has many teeth by the photo and the answer is, it’s a reddish dragon head.
Back in December I came across the props building it and I thought it was cool but I wasn’t aware it was for Lucifer as the account is not affiliated with our crew or production. So imagine my surprise when a friend told me about what she had seen on the lot and going through the archived bts I found the victim photo as well.
You may have noticed it but in two particular episodes more dragons made their appearance. First it was at the second showrunner’s office in 503. There we see a dragon impelled by a sword, it seemed really out of place but I then correlated it with Baphament’s blade which is a representation of Azrael’s blade.
Later on I saw something else. In 508 Pete’s apartment had shelves dedicated to dragon figures as well as some knights. All along I was wondering can I even meta about that? What can it symbolise if it means anything at all? For some reason all I could think was the movie ‘Dragonheart’.
But let’s assume they have laid some hints, so far we have seen that they go very basic on bible and comic material so it’s funny how dragon-like Lucifer was presented in Series 3 of the black label of DC/ vertigo. But there are also more tidbits.
Now in 1x12 you all remember the Angel who was defeating a very Lucifer-looking Satan?
That was a prop. But it is derived by the work of Guido Reni ‘Michael and Satan’ (1636) Who was in turn influenced by Raphael’s painting ‘St. Michael Vanquishing Satan’ (1518) and if we go to Raphael’s early works... St. Michael (1504-1505)
Anyways!
The investigation of this ‘week’s’ case has its usual suspect chase which leads us to an arcade where we can spot some members of the crew doing rounds with the go-carts on that location. What I do know is that we are looking for someone young as far as guest posts go but other than that not much is known. The case seems to be progressing slowly but at some point the murderer appears to want to skip town so the leads bring us to L.A.’s train Union Station.
Tumblr media
We also have scenes at the precinct during the case as we have seen from Aimee’s bts but not much is known there.
Now the suspect might be played by the elusive guest of this episode John Clover whose appearance was posted on Reddit and had sparked the first speculations over the title of the episode.
We should now wonder whether the theme of this episode’s case which takes us to gaming areas has anything to do with how Lucifer views his Father’s appearance in the mid-season finale and whether it will provide him with a resolution to not act in a rush way. The same after all happened with Mum.
Do not forget that Lucifer in Season 2 and especially at the beginning with Mum and when he thought Earl Johnson was his Father, Lucifer’s plans changed as his vengeance turned to a slow paced questioning over why their relationship deteriorated.
For an Angel who was ‘forced’ - not yet clarified so let’s not take that for granted- to punish the guilty Lucifer seems to be more merciful, understanding and open to explanations in the long run especially with the people who wronged him. Amenadiel, Michael, Uriel, Azrael, Mum, and Earl ‘God’ Johnson.
As Amenadiel said in the Pilot Lucifer away from Hell showed restrain and mercy
Perhaps it is true that we cannot escape from what we truly are. In any case that’s meta talk!
Back to the Union Station.
In the train station we have a bts where we can see Chloe and Lucifer chasing the suspect and from the photos and videos outside of it we can safely say they are successful on apprehending the murderer.
Now a funny incident was that during the shooting the area was closed to the actual travelers but somehow a Japanese tourist ended up sitting where the background actors were. No idea if it was her Pizza or it was given by the craft service but the girl was obviously bewildered on what was happening. It’s the little absurdities of life I guess

It seems though as a lighthearted episode at first...
Do not be mistaken, the writers, cast and showrunners have revealed that in S5P2 we enter the emotional and equally dark (In P1 I missed the darkness aside from Pete of course) part of this season. It means that by the end of 5x09 as we roll on the last minutes of this episode, Lucifer is heavily conflicted and a resolution is needed, one that seems to be somewhat provided.
Since P1 I thought it would be weird to have Deckerstar break up for effect, in order to break us, especially since S5 was supposed to be the last season and S6 is effectively from what they imply (again cast and showrunners) an epilogue. So do not expect Deckerstar to break up but on the contrary as we saw Lucifer and Chloe in 507 they pull each other back up.
It is why I’m wondering what will be unraveled after the arrest of 5x09’s murderer.
The end of the episode takes us at night to L.A.’s Grand Park. The Grand Park is across the City Hall by the way, and for the Christmas season it was decorated with a Christmas tree made out of light bulbs.
In the bts the prominent colour of that tree is deep lilac. That’s where our next Deckerstar moment will unravel. We should also be ready for the Lucifer Universe to acknowledge yet another holiday of the human world, Christmas!
A tiny break here but you should remember that on each side of the elevator we have two bronze plates depicting the transfer of Christ after he was taken down dead from the Cross. So in the most discrete of ways Lucifer’s Universe has acknowledged Christ and perhaps it was because before the Sumerian text set Amenadiel as the favourite son, in Season 1 and for the majority of S2 we knew Lucifer as the favourite one.
On the cross Christ (no I didn’t write Lucifer at first :P) according to the scripts in a moment of lapsed faith “Father, Father why do you abandon me?”. In a way we might meta that for 516 but also for what Lucifer has experienced so far and has so eloquently expressed in 3x11 and in 1x09.
But back to the Deckerstar moment

It takes place on the ‘balcony’ above the fountain as the purple Christmas tree is behind them. The setting happens at night and provides the place for our characters to talk, to open up and perhaps even express certain fears but also be urged to take advantage of the current circumstances.
From my perspective is the scene of a couple that talks a difficult matter but at the end of that talk they know each has the other’s back so they can step forward, take that chance and their partner will always be there to catch them if they fall. It is also how we will experience Lucifer finally opening up without Linda probing him. But whatever comes forward also gives space to truths and a realisation which will break our Devil as we have seen from the bts of the next episodes.
We might even have an understanding why ‘I love you’s’ are difficult for Lucifer and for Chloe to also realise that. We might even get Lucifer to say it. Here is to hoping

On a final note. Maze in this episode seems to have gone MIA but many times we do not see the bts of every scene so all we have is Lesley-Ann’s bts from her trailer during that time. Also do not forget how things ended in 508. Maze did betray Lucifer and with God on Earth...
The Dinner
This episode is expected to open back to the precinct. The reason is because it is a mid-season finale which means that the in between scenes are not implied but also because of some spoilers we had back in December.
As you remember the actress who played officer Cacuzza had posted on Twitter that she and Lauren were in a ‘very small’ room which had just been painted. That room we can safely say is the ‘evidence room’ and that Cacuzza managed finally to find a way to close the surveillance in order to take a nap.
Tumblr media
Now do remember that back in S4 Cacuzza was also the officer who let Lucifer ‘sample’ the drug busts
I’m not sure if that will come back somehow but we do know that Cacuzza will appear later this season, whether alive or not is yet to be seen.
What we do know is from the clues that were given by the actress.
1) She will be in the same room as Chloe meaning we will revisit the evidence room once Dad arrives and perhaps it will be a comic moment? Perhaps a random human will figure things out? But what was interesting is that according to the bts photo we see the actress and Lauren in their own clothes while Dennis is in his ‘Dad/God’ clothes.
2) Both Chloe and Officer Cacuzza were supposed to act distressed and shaken. If we take the ‘I love you’ element from that scene for Chloe let’s remember that the evidence is suddenly a bit of a mess. A glass has broken, the sound and effect will be heard once the time has started running again and they are two cops in a room with no idea of what is happening outside. So perhaps the shaken and distressed effect comes before they open the door (or walk out) and are sure there is no imminent threat.
3) In my opinion in this episode Cacuzza has some lines no matter how brief they might be.
Now the question here is how to proceed.
We obviously have a Family Dinner from which only two bts exist.
If we assume that the Family Dinner is arranged after the brothers have hid their wings and then Dad has met Linda then the dinner is set up by a very flabbergasted Linda.
youtube
I do expect Linda to bow by the way and for this dinner to bring some elements from 1x10 Pops. For this speculation I’ll include the video of the scene from that episode and I’ll try to tie them up with 5x09.
All the episodes in P2 are meant to do a full circle and the writers have based most of their storytelling on the events of S1 and S2.
So first the spoilers of what we know from 5x09 and then the ties we may find with 1x10 and some more past episodes.
The 11 minutes are quite long but is it really all things concerning?
Henderson tweeted that there will be 5 actors but as we know know Ellis plays two characters which is why the dinner scene may have taken three days to shoot so we should count six people at the Dinner Table.
The location will be (most probably) at Linda’s house as we have seen from a bts that her main table is full of different varieties of fruits and food in an attempt to recreate an Olympian affluent meal. For Linda is only normal to be out of her element and try to impress God. So far she has been almost killed by his ex, has a child that can be snatched away to the Silver City if she is not deemed worthy perhaps or even because of Charlie’s half genetic code.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Remember there was a stand in actor for Michael
Tumblr media
The problem Linda also faces is that she has supported Lucifer. Yes, he is her friend but how will God react to that? Having a human siding with His rebellious son? Linda as it has been written knows how far pissed off celestials can go and I’m sure she remembers Lucifer’s agony and fear over his Father where Chloe was concerned. So she tries, really tries to present a wonderful setting for the grandfather of her child.
So we do have Linda in the mix. Obviously God, Amenadiel, Lucifer and Michael. That makes us five characters and four actors. Little Charlie also makes an appearance as far as I’m aware as the twin babies were on set and that also contributes on why the scene took so long to be shot. However the babies do not count as the sixth character. Chloe though does.
In short we have:
Linda
God/Dad
Amenadiel
Lucifer
Michael
Chloe
and
Charlie
Another thing we should take into account for this scene is Rafferty’s posted script page of the midseason finale.
While Amenadiel and Lucifer appear shocked and in awe, Michael seems rather pleased. I mean he literally ‘Grins with excitement’.
Tumblr media
Amenadiel in 5x03 said that the only one who was talking to the throne meanwhile Henderson as far as I remember in one of the post P1 interviews, revealed that God and Michael have a relationship that Lucifer wishes he had with Him. D.B on one of the virtual cons (or ET interview. I have issues with keeping track of them now) have said that the scene at the family dinner would be gut wrenching and absolutely fall down hilarious’.
So in this dinner we will get to know our characters more and as Ildy and Henderson have said Lucifer will go back being a 14 year old at the Thanksgiving table. That perhaps is the reason why the script episodes 510 and 511were reversed. The last time that had happened was in S1 in order for Lucifer’s vulnerability to not come too soon in the season. In the case of these two episodes I believe it has to do with Lucifer’s emotional state but also the constant collisions he will have with his father in the Family Dinner but also during the Musical episode.
Tumblr media
Another aspect to consider is that if 5x09 reminds us a lot of 1x10 -Pops right now and 5x10 the Musical episode is directly influenced by 2x16 - God Johnson.
The next section will now be dedicated to a quick recap of 1x10 - Pops and the possible connection to Michael and his story.
Michael in 5x09 teases Chloe as she is kept captive that there is a bigger plan and ‘Spoiler Alert’ it will be EPIC. That can be left alone as a promise to see more of that plan in S5P2 but before we go forward we should also go back in 2x04 - Weaponiser.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Do you see the parallel? How far Uriel’s view of the ‘Patterns’ could go was always a meta I couldn’t crack. Sure Michael hinted as per one Anon hinted on Tumblr that Michael might have been the one to urge Uriel on Earth to kill Mum and hopefully Lucifer as well. It is also perhaps why we were reminded of Azrael’s Blade in 5x03 - Diablo with Baphament’s blade, the only blade that could kill the Devil. Perhaps that was Michael’s plan back then but it didn’t work out.
But is Michael the big villain? According to the showrunners no. There are more things happening but Michael has a reasoning, has a story, one that explains his deformity and is the hero of his own story as all  the other season ‘villains’ so far were. Mum, Amenadiel, Malcolm, Kinley, even Cain.
What the Interviews say about Michael:
Tumblr media
Beginning with the parallel between the dinner we had in 1x10’s dinner and plot, and in what may have in episode 5x09 I would like to remind you-
- at this point I have censored some spoilers, not speculations, spoilers for episodes of P2 that will not be added in the S&S -
I’ll return to this topic and explore it thoroughly as the S&S are written but for now remember that 1x10 might tell us more than what we think right now and it might take us as a point of reference even up to 5x16.
Between 1x10 and 5x09 we can also wonder what are God’s intentions, can we attribute them all to Michael’s manipulation or it goes beyond that because the showrunners have promised us an emotional P2. I do believe issues are addressed and Lucifer will have to come face to face with some hard truths without that meaning that Dad was always right.
In the Pilot - wait.. Pilot? Yes, 5x09 is an episode that slowly builds us to the very end. There are spoilers and references that need to be addressed from past and future episodes before and after 5x09.
We need to address that in the Pilot, Lucifer told Delilah the very truth he uttered to Linda where he was concerned in S4 (4x08). God has nothing to do with your mess. Like Delilah, Lucifer was putting the blame to others, circumstances and even questioned God. He was wasting his eternal life and his talent, which he eventually found in crime solving.
youtube
On cue we get to the scene with Chloe asking God what she is doing to a bar with Lucifer. And what follows is Chloe telling Lucifer how she saw things differently from everyone and she paid for it. That story for me at least rings a bell.
youtube
We still do not know why Lucifer was cast out, the actual reason. No matter the sexescapeding with Eve or the rebellion what was the core of all that acting out as Linda called it in season 2? Whatever it was if we go back to 3x11 we will see that Chloe in the Pilot is basically Lucifer in 3x11.
They feel alone, misjudged and while Chloe tries to move on and later in S1 finds what actually happened, in Lucifer’s case he gives up on waiting for forgiveness from his Father until Michael comes, and tells him that even his Fall was a manipulation.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In Pops Lucifer asked something very interesting what did the sous chef wanted? And the answer was to surpass Pops. I do wonder if that’s what Lucifer wanted in a way and of course Michael on Lucifer’s expense. Two ‘children’ fighting for attention but only one was groomed to take over.
Speaking of taking over at the end of the episode of 1x10 we learn that Pops despite what Junior had done still had his son in his mind for taking over the restaurant. Pops believed in his son but allowed him space to grow eventually when everything failed.
If you remember Zadkiel’s spoiler we see that in 5x15 for some reason Lucifer wants to re-join the Host. That aside from a reconciliation shows that like Junior, Lucifer for his own reasons - we do not know what has happened but we will go back to that in the S&S of 5x15 - wants what divine power has to offer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
What happens next is again interesting -censored-. I just want you to see how we do not deal with standalones but everything progresses towards a point, a familiar yet innovative point for the series.
In episode 2x01, Lucifer asks mockingly an offended Chloe who did she thought he took after, his Dad? That happened because Lucifer believed to have taken more after his mother but as we know genetics is a funny thing, Celestial genetics even more so.
God’s absence from Lucifer’s life shaped him. He did drove Lucifer to become something he wasn’t but after 4.5 seasons can we claim that Lucifer and God are nothing alike?
Maze I believe was spot on on the similarities God and Lucifer held.
Lucifer believes in justice, in truth and is able to love. He has been more of an Angel than any non fallen Angel has ever been so far.
Amenadiel tricked a dead human to kill Lucifer thus condemning him again in Hell however as we know from Charlotte’s case a redemption was not impossible.
Uriel wanted to kill his mother and wouldn’t hesitate to kill Chloe in the process. Azrael is basically a liar and manipulator, Remiel would gleefully cut open a human for their half-celestial baby while Michael is really-really messed up.
So what has happened?
Like with Junior, Lucifer was pushed by his Father to become the man he is today. And Lucifer likes what he is, who he is because he sees the change and is even afraid of not being real when that change is questioned or exposed to him.
youtube
The same happened with Amenadiel, once he decided to embrace humanity and brotherhood. He changed for the better and became more ‘angelic’.
So yes, Junior’s story does apply to Lucifer on many levels. But Junior didn’t have that dinner with his Father, Lucifer will as they will do two more of his siblings. Some will be hurt, some will feel betrayed and some may walk out.
Tumblr media
Which brings us to a very big question.
Was Mum truthful when she said to Lucifer, his Dad wanted to destroy him? If the answer is yes, how will both deal with that? Because Lucifer may have not totally believed Mum.
If that answer comes to play we should consider it as the common question children come forward to when they learn they were not planned or their parents had opted at first to have an abortion. The fact that they didn’t get on with the abortion or had willingly made a child does affect their feelings towards that child now? Do they regret it? Do they want what that child has become?
These are all tough questions and sometimes the answers are not easy either. Mainly because humans like celestials with human emotions as it seems, are secure and balanced only with the totality of a circumstance. Everything or nothing, the rest in between are not welcome and it’s bound to hurt.
Tumblr media
Finally, on this 1x10 weird reminisce. Can we say that Lucifer will be allowed in the end to create something that represents him? I think he may but more about that in 5x16 S&S.
Probably the story will not end with redemption but with Lucifer finally becoming his own person one that resembles a lot of Dad and Dad may accept or even encourage that path. That does not mean he will start anew though
Which brings us back to the adversary of 1x10 - Pops. The sous chef believed that Junior was not worthy of his father’s tolerance and reward so she made sure to destroy his reputation and went as far as trying to kill him. That sounds a lot like Michael.
Michael’s speech towards Maze about what was happening in the Silver City in 5x02 did echo the sous chef words:
Tumblr media
So we should wonder if Michael will succeed to a point to ruin Lucifer’s chances and leave Lucifer live with the consequences in the end as our hero learns to move on from whatever injustice happened or the writers will provide a catharsis.
And a final question here
Is Amenadiel really the favourite son? I somehow doubt that, perhaps I’ll be proved wrong as in many interviews Henderson has gone back to Amenadiel’s arc as he learns he is the ‘favourite’ and so far he has not said anything to contradict the belief 2x17 brought to us with so many translated Sumerian words.
Tumblr media
But as we said teh Dinner will not be cathartic on the contrary so does that mean that Lucifer eventually walks away? Probably.
At the photos that were posted near Christmas we have two bts one crystal clear and the other more hazy which shows Lucifer at the Penthouse and Dad being there in his white cardigan. I do suspect that meeting at the penthouse happens after the dinner but it does not resolve things between Father and son. it is also possible that it’s why we need the very emotional scene from the musical to be moved forward and 511 script to become 5x10 aired episode.
Tumblr media
Perhaps the comment on it’s not just Lucifer who hits the keys was referring to Dad and not Maze in 5x01.
Although we cannot be sure on what will happen in the penthouse and whether Scarlet was meant to join that scene or simply was on set for the day (highly probable) for another scene, we do know that in this episode we had a LUX night. A most perhaps unconventional one.
By this point you know that the writers are ready to address everything or at least make parallels and so somehow we have one with 1x09 - A Priest Walks Into A Bar. This time however it is seems like God Walks Into His Son’s Bar.
Tumblr media
If the camera is clear enough we can see God (?) talking to a white person. I would have loved it if it was Dan but I cannot tell for sure.
Whether that visit happens before or after the family dinner I believe it may happen before as the clothes Dennis wore at the lot around that time were different from the white we saw him appear with in the end of 5x08. Of course that does not say much as we will see Dad in the same/similar white clothes in at least three different episodes in Part 2.
Therefore in the conclusion of this S&S we should speculate that the Dinner is placed at the middle of the episode and a resolution is reached for Deckerstar in the end of the episode but Lucifer’s turmoil did fit better through the musical episode hence the change.

Can we talk about the fact that Lucifer had the chance to do the “bury your gays” trope, and they didn’t?!
I’m gonna be honest, I did not like Eve when she first appeared on the show. She was too reminiscent of Dahlia Hawthorne for me. Either that or she embodied the “born sexy yesterday” trope to the letter. Actually, I really didn’t like her because I genuinely couldn’t tell what the show was going to do with her. And of course, there was the residual frustration that came from her deterring the Deckerstar development.
Let me just say, I did not expect it to go that way.
I know that both Maze and Lucifer were established in previous seasons to be queer, but up to that point, it was nothing more than a passing comment. I’m not complaining, especially considering BOTH ARE LEADS AND BOTH ARE CONFIRMED NON-MONOSEXUAL (seriously how many main characters can you point to that are openly bi or pan?? More commentary on that coming soon to a blog near you).
When Maze and Eve’s relationship was beginning to take form, I was really worried they were gonna pull a Joss Whedon and kill off Eve for Maze’s character development. I knew her time on the show was running short and I was just dreading watching her die and then having Maze spiral into grief and shit. But that’s not what happened.
Maze confesses her feelings for Eve, and in a moment of unbelievable introspection, Eve turns her down. Not because she doesn’t return Maze’s feelings (as implied by the bisexual lighting in that scene), but because Eve’s entire existence was based off her relationship to another person. First it was Adam, then in an act of defiance, Lucifer. And during her time with Lucifer, you can see her absorbing whatever personality he’s presenting to her. Anyone in the relationship-related-trauma biz knows that this is the farthest thing from healthy. She realizes that true fulfillment is not found in a codependent relationship, but when she breaks the cycle and finds a way to feel like a complete person on her own. She turns down what could very well be a mutually beneficial and loving relationship with a person she made a genuine connection with because she knew she wasn’t in the right mental state to do so. And this plot point also hands Maze the opportunity to deal with something she’s never been good with; emotional complexity.
The thing is, we have already seen the effects of grief on someone after losing a romantic partner with Dan and Charlotte. And the writers know this. This is such a refreshing take on character development that’s just so relevant in the sphere of fantasy fiction. In one fell swoop, Eve’s departure gave the audience a far better understanding of both Eve and Maze’s characters. Their goals, their ambitions, their desires, if you will.
Jesus fucking Kennedy mainstream show writers, you have to start taking notes here.

Lucifer and the dogs
Okay but lucifer is on a case with Chloe and hears whimpering. Goes to check it out and it’s a German Shepard or a pit bulls (the traditionally ‘scary’ dogs). And just goes really soft like. “Hey there bud, I ain’t gonna hurt ya. Come over here let’s get a look at ya.”
And Chloe’s just watching him be really soft, calm an gentle cause this dog is so timid. And when it comes over he just pets it saying “aren’t you a beauty.” Cause he sees himself in this dog cause it’s been mistreated and stereotyped and has a few scars. I’m sort lucifer adopts a dog. He names it brandy.

Summary: In which Chloe assists Lucifer with his morning routines.
Ratings: Teens and up

I'd love to see one of them just being terribly domestic and fluffy haha! ;)

“Need help?”
Lucifer hid his smile. He wondered how much longer she would lurk at his doorframe—all hooded ocean eyes and her svelte figure lovely with the russet radiance of dawn adorning her, as if the light itself understood that no other nirvana would compare to that which could be found within the expanse of her succulent flesh.
(He should know, they were of him, after all)
He had been half-tempted to close the distance between them, himself.
But where would the fun in that be?
No, it was better this way—limbs alternating between taut and loose as the air between them grew heavy with anticipation.
The game was afoot.
“Much obliged,” he quipped though they both knew very well he was more than capable of accomplishing his morning grooming routine on his own.
“Sit,” she gestured to the closed lid of the toilet.
“As my lady commands,” he whispered when he came up behind her, tongue brushing the delicate curve of her earlobe as he expelled the words.
He felt her shudder ripple down her spine, and his toes curled in ecstasy at her poorly-hidden response.
The last couple of times they had done this, she had won. For though he approved of her methods, he had not expected her escamotage.
But now that he knew—he would not break so easy.
She cottoned onto his schemes, yet he would not be deterred.
I have a sharp object, her glare seemed to convey as she approached his seated form. She had caught him when he had been about to shave, and so lathered his jaw and neck with foam.
Game on, returned his lifted brow.
She played a lot on proximity, knowing the exquisite torture of having her within his grasp but unable to touch, to taste. But she went and altered the rules by settling onto his lap. He wore nothing but a pair of boxer briefs. She was scantily clad in a tank top and sleep shorts, the heat of her sex in perfect alignment with his own.
His breath hitched, hands stilling on her waist when she ground against him in the guise of switching her angle on his face.
“Oops,” she jibed, and to further demonstrate her lack of remorse, she thrust more purposefully against him.
He hissed.
“Careful of the goods, darling,”
He was unsure anymore whether he was referring to his face or his cock.
“Of course,” she smirked.
She reached for a towel on the counter beside them then proceeded with his eyeliner.
She needn’t be so close that her breath was a sweet zephyr skirting his mouth, but it was another of her skullduggery. He licked his lips, and could almost sense the ambrosia of her tongue bursting against his taste buds.
All pretense of eyeliner application was abandoned when she grazed the bridge of his nose with the tip of hers, her fingers featherlight between his shoulder blades so that it was his turn to shiver.
“Okay?” she hummed. His breathing quickened at the hunger in her eyes. It called to the lubricity in his own soul.
“Fuck it,” he growled.
And slanted his lips across her own.
He should be ashamed—they hadn’t even gotten to dress him!
But there was no room for it in the Devil, not when he sunk to his knees before his divine sovereign and paid fealty to her body against the rapidly warming tiles of his bathroom.
“It appears,” he tutted as he inspected his wrecked appearance in the afterglow. “That we must start all over again.”
“You could do it yourself, you know,” she grinned, equally debauched with her bottom bare and her top scrunched scandalously around her middle.
The ultimate victor.
(And if she was his penalty, may he lose every time)
“Perhaps,” he purred, nosing at the elegant slope of her neck where the scent of her—addicting enough to drive anyone mad—was most strong.
“But where would the fun in that be?”
AN: I've been veering a lot, haven't I? It's nice to go back to my roots :)

hi wolf! how are you? i was reading too well tangled for the hundredth time (you're gonna think i’m exaggerating but i’d say it’s pretty accurate — obsessed doesn’t even begin to cover it!) and i’ve just realized i have never commented on chapter 5. so let me fix that.
it was everything i was expecting and more! you absolutely knocked it out of the part. ugh, the angst. so delightfully painful to read.
i love the dynamic between the two chloe’s and lucifer. i love how you write them, all with their arguments, fears, weaknesses and strengths, and all not knowing how to approach the other or what to do with everything they’re feeling. so many perspectives, so much hurt, and man, i just feel so bad for all of them. lucifer — to be presented with the complete acceptance and love he’s always dreamed of but never got, and how it blows up in his face the moment he dares to enjoy it. future!chloe and being ripped away from her family and thrown in the past where she has to witness an emotionally difficult period for both herself and lucifer. and sure she’s forearmed with knowledge that no one else has and obviously she has faith in herself and lucifer and that they’ll find a way to each other in every timeline, but it must be incredibly hard to watch as your presence alters your past and causes a rift between you and the love of your life (even if it’s technically not your life but another you’s life). i wonder if she grieves over the idea that this past!deckerstar won’t be able to experience what she and her lucifer did, or if she rejoices at what they’ll get instead, at the idea that maybe this past version of herself won’t end up in rome and conspire with an evil priest and how that’ll avoid them so many problems, like for example lucifer going back to hell (sigh). and finally past!chloe, who definitely got the worst end of the deal. all the hurt and confusion and betrayal, being in an unwanted relationship, lucifer still holding the “chloe” and “detective” distinction and carelessly using it as a weapon against her to imply that he’s much happier with chloe, not to mention the fucking earth shattering factor of time travel and divinity reveal — i just want to give her a hug. sigh. Lucifer would appear out of nowhere, but he couldn’t seem to hear her no matter how loudly Chloe called him. Lucifer would pass her by for her reflection without a glance. this was heart-wrenching! you managed to perfectly encompass chloe's fears always but especially now looking at a seemingly perfect other chloe who connects with lucifer in ways she has never been able to. again, i want to give her a hug!
you gotta love future!chloe’s cheekiness though. You could have that, you know. Have him, if you wanted. [wink wink] we didn’t get her perspective in this chapter, but something i always wonder about is whether her casual “love you” to lucifer in front of herself was just a slip of the tongue and out of habit, or if she was trying to get a rise out of past!chloe/nudge her in the right direction. and that picture of them being domestic and flirty and in love on the beach? [groans]
and finally, that last scene — you blew my mind. god, i feel like there aren’t enough words to express how much i love it. it was utter perfection. you nailed their voices and headspaces once again: the hurt they both harbour, their understandable jealousy and yet the hypocrisy of it, the anguish at having everything they’ve ever wanted right in front of them but their inability to take the last step. i love arguments where both characters have valid points and yet they’re both wrong, and that’s the case in this scene. i love how you wrote the complexities in both characters and how negatively their personalities reflected each other.
Did you kiss her? [
] Yes. [
] Did you have sex with her? [screams] i have to SCREAM!!!! these lines just do something to me. i love how she’s hampered by jealousy that she knows is misplaced and ridiculous because she’s with pierce and lucifer has made no promises to her and it’s literally her, and yet she can't help it. because on some level she knows he's in love with her and she knows she's in love with him and she knows they should be each other's and that he should "technically" (lmao) have sex with her but at the same time they're just so!!! it’s a fucking mess, but it’s so, SO great to read!
How could you — how could you do this to me, Lucifer? this line. THIS LINE! past!lucifer and future!chloe talked about how future!lucifer would react to them hooking up but i wonder if future!chloe ever really thought about how past!chloe would feel about it. if future!chloe would understand why past!chloe would be upset about it, or if she’d be too secure in her relationship and feelings to. it’s also amazing how this line feels like season 4 but twisted up. bring on that delicious angst! and speaking of season 4 angst, i suspect lucifer’s self-hatred might manifest a season early? “Don’t touch me.” He looks down at his hand, fear on his face. “No,” he whispers softly to himself, “No, not like this.” [
] He shoves his hand deep in his pocket and looks up. Something like fear flickers in his eyes. he's made so many mistakes in his impossibly long life and loathes himself for many things, but i love how it's feeling like he betrayed/disappointed her and her pain that bring out the red this time. my mouth is watering just thinking about the potential that him turning at this point in the story would have! i wonder if future!chloe would be able to help him transform back because she has the experience and knows exactly what to do, or if he’d actually need his chloe.
She loves me. She knows exactly who and what I am, and she chose me! Me! 😭😭😭😭😭
I wanted to be with you! Crazy Devil stuff and all! I kissed you, thought we had something, and a week later you say we’re just friends. [
] You ran away and got married to someone else. Remember that? So now because you've changed your mind, but I'm in a relationship with someone else and you're jealous, it's my fault? when i flip a table, THEN WHAT. thank you for bringing up the fact the lucifer would always run hot and cold with chloe in the first few seasons. he would get close to her and make her feel like they were going somewhere then just run away with very little consideration to her feelings. i mean, we know why he did that, and sure, it was even honourable at times, but she didn't (she still doesn't, really) and that’s obviously incredibly confusing and hurtful. it’s one of the things i hope they address in season 6. so yeah, i love that you wrote her as slightly unreachable, and that she's standing her ground and asking for more time. and don’t get me wrong, i love how lucifer is champing at the bit now that he knows he can actually have a future with chloe but he can’t possibly be serious when he tells her she can’t keep running away when he’s run away from it just as much, if not more! even though it is in character.
His anger crumbles. “I’m sorry. Have mercy, please. Everything I ever wanted was right in front of me. I-” His words stop. “What did you expect me to do?” he asks again, and he looks completely and abjectly miserable. i just!!! [clenches fists]
And again, she’s left wondering what’s so fundamentally wrong with her. 😭😭😭😭😭
“Chloe,” he says and she recoils. What was once cherished syllables now only reminds her he says them freely to another woman. oh my god. oh my GOD
If you want to be with me, then why aren’t you with me! makes me go absolutely feral every time i read this chapter.
i believe i’ve said this before but i think qutab’s amulet brought chloe back to her weakest point, instead of lucifer’s. because sure, lucifer was going through it in season 3, but chloe struggled just as much (if not more). what, with lucifer’s mercurial moods and pierce and being pulled in every direction and making hard and bad choices and constantly feeling like she was on shaky grounds and then finally finding out the truth. it was a lot. and now with future!chloe being there — it’s definitely going to expedite things, right? it already has in a way. i mean, if chloe is starting to accept that lucifer is the devil, what he said about pierce lying to her might finally resonate with her. i can’t wait to see if she’ll break up with him and what that will cause, especially because pierce’s curse hasn’t be lifted yet in your story and that’s the only thing he’s ever been interested in. i’ve scrolled through some of the snippets you’ve posted and it looks like chloe will get kidnapped? my theory is that pierce will hold her hostage to convince lucifer to find a way to get him what he wants (because like, he knows there’s no length lucifer wouldn’t go for chloe). it’d be fun if he didn’t recognize the small changes between past!chloe and future!chloe and took future!chloe instead. i think it’d be interesting to see how he’d react to a more confident chloe that he can't manipulate. god, she’d kick his ass all the way to hell, that’d be so hot! it’d also be cool if future!lucifer got there just to find out that that ham faced dullard has his wife and the two lucifer’s went fully berserk mode on him together (with past!chloe’s help and support of course). but the idea of future!chloe and past!lucifer rescuing past!chloe is equally appealing and — okay, now i’m just rambling!
one last thing before i wrap this up — any chance i can persuade you to write a missing moment/short one shot of the morning after scene between future!chloe and past!lucifer once you’re done with the story? please. i have chocolate, or you know, anything you might like and desire if you’re not a fan of chocolate? đŸ„ș
okay. anyways. this is so long and i’m so terribly sorry that i’m once again ranting in your asks, but this fic makes me feel so many things (so many of them!) and i hope you know how appreciate you are and what a gift you are to this fandom! i hope summer is treating you well. x
oh my gosh, the thrill i got when I saw your message. I didn't answer it right away because I wanted to savor it and re-read it a few times :D but now it is the time! So, here we go:
Hello! I am doing well! I'm so glad you enjoy too well tangled enough to re-read it! that makes me really happy. Chapter 5 was rough with the angst, but sometimes things have to get worse before they get better.
Even with Future!Chloe circumventing Lucifer's sleep deprivation, S3!Chloe and Lucifer were do for an argument, it was going to happen one way or another with him continuously playing hot and cold and the jealousy and hurt that was already there, even before Future!Chloe accidentally added fuel to that fire. She's not yet aware of the effect she's had on her past self, but she's going to feel very badly about it. (especially with the events that are about to happen in ch6&7) she definitely wants things to be easier for her past self and Lucifer.
The argument was definitely supposed to be a "neither one is right, neither one is wrong and they're both being hurtful". You've absolutely got it. It always surprises me when readers will pick a side lol theyre BOTH idiots.
Did you kiss her? [
] Yes. [
] Did you have sex with her? [screams] i have to SCREAM!!!!
This was one of my favorite parts, too! and one of the first written three years ago when i started working on this idea.
it’s also amazing how this line feels like season 4 but twisted up. bring on that delicious angst! and speaking of season 4 angst, i suspect lucifer’s self-hatred might manifest a season early?
>;) maybe. With some of season 3 circumvented and the beginning of s4 altered, I'm definitely pulling threads from s4 along with the s3 finale.
s3!Chloe has been so in the dark with Lucifer and the other forces at work, it's no wonder she's so confused. No wonder in 5x21 she breaks down crying over Lucifer trying to win her from Pierce. She must feel like it''s some sort of cruel game since she's been totally ignorant of what he's done for her and how he feels. (I also hope we see some of this addressed in s6!)
i believe i’ve said this before but i think qutab’s amulet brought chloe back to her weakest point, instead of lucifer’s. because sure, lucifer was going through it in season 3, but chloe struggled just as much (if not more).
This is one of those happy accidents that I WILL pretend I intended the whole time. Originally, it was only supposed to be Lucifer's worst moment, or, at least, the worst moment in which he was weakest-still vulnerable, facing an immortal enemy, losing the love of his life etc etc, but the more folks commented on it, the more it made sense that it was also (or MORE so) Chloe's weakest point, or leading up to it. So I will say it's both!
I'm LOVING your theories. I won't say what parts you've guessed right, but I hope you'll also enjoy the parts I hope will be surprising.
any chance i can persuade you to write a missing moment/short one shot of the morning after scene between future!chloe and past!lucifer once you’re done with the story? please. i have chocolate, or you know, anything you might like and desire if you’re not a fan of chocolate? đŸ„ș
You know, I don't see why not! I hadn't really envisioned too much about their morning. It was mostly cuddles and breakfast, but if the inspiration strikes I'll see what happens. (also, I love chocolate :D)
also PLEASE always feel free to rant in my inbox i fucking LOVE it, it literally MADE MY WHOLE DAY. I'd open tumblr up and tab over to my inbox just to read it again. I'd been a bit down over this fic and the words of encouragement and this ask made me feel so much better. thank you :') sending All The Love right back at ya. <3
