Rocks of ages
At first glance, you would never know that our 12 acres - woods, mainly - was once part of a farm.
The crops are long gone, but the evidence of agriculture is here - in a couple of pieces of vintage implements abandoned in our woods and in the large rock piles scattered around the property.
I know the why of it; even a city boy can deduce that rocks and farming don't mix; they're hauled from tillable land and dumped in spots too low to plow.
But I wonder about the who, when and how.
Research tells me that until around 1920, draft animals - horses and mules - were the main source of power on farms. So it's possible that at least some of these rocks arrived at their final resting place on horse-drawn wagons.
One thing is certain: They'll outlast all of us.

I think something a lot of other people can relate to is the way that you get so conditioned to discomfort that you stop registering it.
I remember sitting at the table with my family, eating dinner as a child. I’d try to eat, because of course I was hungry. But sometimes the flavor or texture was so repugnant that it moved into a category of Not Food.
“Two more bites before you can leave the table.”
“I can’t,” I’d say, trying to explain the impossibility.
But because I was a child they heard, “I won’t,” and made me sit at the table. I’d sit in dull agonized silence, bored and hungry for hours until bedtime when they’d give up. I’d hate myself for not eating and my parents for forcing me to sit there. The few forcefeeding moments ended in vomit.
They’d say, “If you don’t eat this you can’t eat a snack later,” and I moved past trying to communicate my discomfort into accepting that I’d just be hungry.
That state of affairs didn’t last, because my parents realized nothing could force me to eat so they catered to my palate, worrying they’d starve me. But the message stuck. If you can’t do anything about a situation, just accept the suffering.
A few years later my mother called me off the playground to ask, “Are you limping?”
I shrugged. My feet had hurt for a long time, but that was just the way things were now. My mom pulled my socks and shoes off and gasped. The soles of my feet were covered in huge painful planters warts.
“Why didn’t you say anything?!” She demanded but I could only shrug at her. I’d learned a long time ago that saying things about my discomfort didn’t matter, so now I had no words. Sometimes things hurt and sometimes they don’t. I simply accepted and did my best.
Now as an adult trying to learn to improve my own conditions can be hard. If I make food that I can’t eat I’ll force myself to sit at the counter still, full of guilt and self loathing, trying to will myself to eat it.
At first I needed my betrothed to gently take it away to present me with something I could eat. Now on my own I can usually admit that it’s not happening before too long and get something else, but I still feel guilty.
Laying in bed at night waiting for my betrothed to finish getting ready I let out a huge sigh of relief when they turned the lights off.
“Why didn’t you turn them off if they bothered you?” they asked the first time it happened.
“I didn’t even know it was bothering me until it was gone.”
Assessing my physical state now to see if I can improve it is something I’m still relearning but I’m relieved to finally have the space and support to do it.

homemade beeswax candles :3 i like that i can add (certain) essential oils directly to the wax, but to be honest, i think i will try carving into them to dedicate them and allow them to be otherwise plain, unscented things

How to turn off AI Training of your content on Web and Mobile:
On a Web Browser:
Tumblr media
I had some trouble finding this option. My first instinct was to click the settings button on the left, but that's where it is!
First, you'll click the name of your blog on the left sidebar to bring it up on your browser.
Tumblr media
Then click "Blog settings" on the right sidebar once your blog is brought up. That's where they're hiding it.
Tumblr media
Click "Prevent Third-Party Sharing" under the Visibility section, and bam! You're done.
On Mobile:
Tumblr media
Thankfully it's much easier on mobile. Just click the Gear icon on your blog's page, to go to settings.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scroll all the way down until you see Visibility, then toggle the Prevent third-party sharing option for your blog!!
If you disable this setting on mobile, it automatically synced it to my web browser settings, too. ...But if you use both Web and Mobile, I would still highly recommend double checking that it actually turned off on both!!
Check that it's turned off on your side blogs too! And check your settings every now and then anyway to ensure that it's staying turned off, because if my memory serves right, some other websites will pull some shenanigans on things like this and opt you back in without telling you!
Leave Feedback on New Features at Tumblr Support Here!! Let Staff know however we can that having our content fed to AI at their whim is unacceptable.
And if you have the option to poison your art with Nightshade or Glaze, keep it up!!

DND Magic Items: Sphere of Annihilation
Type: Wondrous Item
Rarity: Legendary
Type of Item: Arcana and Implements
Attunement: No
This 2 foot diameter black sphere is a hole in the multiverse hovering in space and stabilized by a magical field surrounding it.
The sphere obliterates all matter it passes through and all matter that passes through it. Artifacts are the exception. Unless an Artifact is susceptible to damage from a Sphere of Annihilation it passes through the sphere unscathed. Anything else that touches the sphere but isn't wholly engulfed and obliterated by it takes 8d10 Force damage.
A Sphere of Annihilation is stationary until someone takes control of it. If you are within 60 feet of a Sphere you can take a Magic action to make a DC25 Arcana check. On a successful check you control the Sphere until the start of your next turn and if it was under another creature's control that creature loses control of the sphere. On a failed check the sphere moves 10 feet toward you in a straight line.
While in control of the sphere you can take a bonus action to cause it to move in one direction of your choice up to a number of feet equal to 5 times your Intelligence modifier (minimum of 5 feet). Any creature whose space the sphere enters must succeed on a DC19 Dexterity saving throw or be touched by it taking 8d10 Force damage. A creature reduced to 0 Hit Points by this damage is obliterated leaving its possessions behind but no other physical remains.
If the sphere comes into contact with a planar portal (such as that created by the spell Gate) or an extradimensional space (such as that within a Portable Hole) the DM determines randomly what happens by rolling a d100
1-50 The sphere is destroyed
51-85: The sphere moves through the portal or into the extradimensional space.
86 or higher: A special rift sends the sphere and each creature and object within 180 feet of the sphere to a random plane of existence.
