My loves, I see you
I know you’re sick again, I know you’re missing school or work again
My darling, it is not your fault
I know you’re sick all the time, I know how shitty it feels, I know how condescending and annoying people are about it
But I also know it’s not your fault, I know you are way more annoyed than than the stupid complaining people are, and I know they have no right to complain
This is your body and I know how hard you try to take care of it
And I know it’s impossible to take care of your body properly sometimes and it’s infuriating and upsetting having to take so many precautions you shouldn’t have to take just to be safe, and I know sometimes you skip something and get hurt or sick but it’s not your fault
You are doing your best that is enough
Your best is different everyday
It’s not your fault that you get sick and/or are in pain all the time, it’s not your fault you can’t function
We love you

I'm so sick of the lateral ableism from disabled people with working immune systems. I fucking despise hearing about other disabled people are completely disregarding covid precautions. you might get to forget about it like all the ableds did but I don't.
you don't get to align yourself with disability activism in any way if you're choosing not to mask, or choosing not to stay updated on vaccines, or choosing to go to giant events with thousands of people in attendance

We found reduced complement protein C4a levels in immunodeficient ME/CFS patients suggesting a subgroup-specific innate immune dysregulation. ME/CFS patients without immunodeficiencies exhibit a mucosal barrier leakage, as indicated by elevated levels of Lipopolysaccharide-binding protein (LBP). Stratifying ME/CFS patients based on immune competence enabled the distinction of two subgroups with different pathophysiological patterns.

My handsome Phantom 🖤
Rescued in February with life-threatening injuries, I adopted him three months ago and he's settled in so well. He has FIV and a heart murmur but he's currently a very healthy gummy shark!
He loves nothing more than sunning himself in his cat run on a nice day, snuggling with his fur-siblings, and yelling at me for treats the second I come home 🩷

[image id: two screenshots of four tweets by user lisa_iannattone on Twitter, posted on 19 December 2022 at 1:14 p.m., reading sequentially: "It's absolutely wild to me that we're pretending that the higher than average number of respiratory tract infections and the pandemic of adults with pneumonia this year is not a warning sign of immune impairment. This is literally how immunodeficiency would present. In clinical practice, we we want to screen for the possibility of an undiagnosed underlying immunodeficiency syndrome, "how many respiratory infections do you get in an average year?" and "have you had pneumonia more than once?" are the 2 first questions we ask. There's been more pneumonias among my healthy adult friends & acquaintances in the last 6 months than among my immunosuppressed patients in the last 6 years. Something is clearly off. And healthy adults with pneumonia is not a viral transmission dynamics issue. This thread blew up and some people aren't sure if I'm suggesting immunity debt. Definitely not. Staying healthy doesn't make you sick, pathogens do. As for the immunity "gap", it's likely a contributing factor but doesn't explain adults with pneumonia. It's SARS2 I'm worried about.

hey, the pandemic is not over. wear a mask.
in case this is unclear, immunocompromised, immunosuppressed, and other disabled people are not getting sick the same way as healthy adults because they are masking the fuck up and/or still largely being forced to isolate, while many many “healthy” adults are not. just because you are healthy doesn’t mean you are immune to long-term effects from covid. anyone can become disabled at any time. immunity debt is not real.
do your part to protect yourself and others. not wearing a mask is worse than ableism. It’s disablist.
Please at least wear masks in public indoor, and crowded outdoor spaces. Make public spaces safe and accessible for everyone.

this is my sweet baby boy, Noodles
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
he just passed tonight. he was just about 5 years old, we beleive he had FIV due to circumstances and past issues, but he was never diagnosed. he died somewhat unexpectedly.
hes always been curious, always loved to play with or smell what I had, especially if it came from outside my room. unfortunately, he was always too skittish to see the world on his own. he stayed in my room constantly for the 4 years I had him.
now that he's gone, I come to you tumblr, to ask you to do him a favor.
please reblog this so he can reach the world.
please reblog this with pictures of your favorite things, your pets, your favorite places, even if it's just a tree in your back yard.
reblog it with nothing if you have no pictures or places you want him to see.
show him your favorite places.
thank you.

I have a problem where if I give a character a trait or something for one story I cannot take it back like that’s a permanent headcanon now. That’s your truth.
Like I was writing a future fic and Anya lost her hearing and subsequently her powers (kinda) and now whenever I try to write anything that passes the age she lost it in that one story I just decide she’s gotta be deaf. Like I took it and I refuse to give it back, I’m sorry canonically you’re deaf.
Even when I’m writing current day fics I low key think I can just take it back fr like you don’t need it anymore. And if I read another fanfic and she has hearing I say to myself this author is just being ableist and it’s like girl no she was never deaf to begin with you made that up wtf

wails.... lfc....... im thinkig about himso much. like yes he sucks but he's also been through a lot... it's like. he doesn't really have much of a framework to fit his limitations into; his whole life has been basically pushing himself into roles he isn't fit for, and performing a certain kind of life, because he sees no alternative way to live, because of the values that were instilled into him and which he now holds and guards. so he ends up taking out his stress and frustration that he can't really name onto the people in his household who can't push back on it because he has authority over them.
