The Fae arrogance bled through the increasing grip of the sedative and she couldn’t stop the wry grimace that flickered across her features. Dany didn’t like the things he was saying, but now that she was certain that he wasn’t blustering. Internally, she cursed herself for her own arrogance that had led to this situation, though Dany knew she would do it again in a heartbeat to save her people. From the magic he cast, came an offered cup of water, which she accepted with a grateful nod of her head - the conjured water was exactly what Daenerys needed to begin countering the drugs. “You have my thanks, Rhysand.”
He released her hand easily and in that gesture, Dany felt a flare of hope. In her condition, he could have easily overpowered her, but he hadn’t and now - even with his sarcasm - he was taking a moment for her regard. Daenerys knew she had the information she had come for and, once her body filtered the drugs, she could get away from the Fae easily enough. “You do seem to have a gift for stating the obvious in a delightful manner,” Daenerys murmured wryly, though she did set the conjured glass down and stepped past him into the elevator’s interior.
Her amethyst gaze quickly noted the mechanical hatch above and the number of floors on the panel, though the interior of the lift was clean and well-maintained. As Rhysand joined her, Dany moved to the furthest point in the small compartment, leaning against the wall while gripping the bar with one hand to steady herself. She loathed feeling weak normally, but with a clearly powerful Fae, Dany wasn’t foolish - her people were protected by their anonymity so discretion was going to be necessary here. Antagonizing her captor would only prolong this ordeal so her tone took a softer edge.
“Will we be performing a charade for these slavers when these doors open again, Rhysand?” Dany asked, taking deep breaths to calm her heartbeat. His bespoke tailored suit gave hint to a fit form, though an extraordinary beauty like himself was not unusual for his kind. She’d seen the flash of a tattoo and it pricked a memory that she could not grasp. “I’m not adverse, just trying to get some idea of what your plan is to get out of this building without taking it down,” she added, tipping her head back to rest against the back wall. In this stance, Dany could watch his movements. “Not that I’m against taking it down, I’d just prefer to get the innocents out of it first.”

Among her people, there were those who believed Daenerys was more than immortal - that she must also possess something more and there were varying rumors on what that ‘more’ might be, but Dany herself knew she only possessed an immunity to fire and some spell crafting. She did not have any affinity for the ones called Fae. The last time Daenerys had encountered them had been hundreds of years ago at the peace alliance, attending in her role as Queen of Valyria.
The sedative was as unexpected as all of this, but Daenerys trusted that she could deal with the dark-haired stranger and escape. A sound drew her attention and her fogged gaze saw him - and something else! One of those winged Fae! What were they talking about? Their words were too vague to discern a meaning, but when her gaze met his, Daenerys felt a tug in the pit of her stomach.
There was something otherworldly here. Not just the winged one - this one was unique.
He held out a hand and Daenerys hesitated a moment before taking it. “I can,” she answered, letting him help her rise though she was wobbly on the ill-fitting heels. “I’m… Dany Stormborn.” It wasn’t a lie, but it wasn’t revealing either. “Someplace safe?” she repeated with a soft snort. This was a man who had BOUGHT her. Stepping out of the cage, Dany let the man lead her, watching for any chance to make a run for it. “I need water… What is your name?” she stated, mentally fighting the sedative fog.
Who or whatever this guy was - he wasn’t one of the ringleaders. Another step or two and they’d be out the door, probably to an elevator. “I do not fear pain. Pain carves away the soft, uncovering strength if it exists. There are far worse things,” Dany stated grimly, giving a sly tug of her hand to see if he would release it. “And you’ll forgive me for doubting our destination is a place that will be safe for me given the fact that you just bought me. A fact I might find a measure of mercy for if you release me.” After all, if he were Fae, she couldn’t just have him executed. It would be an interspecies incident.

𝐓𝐇𝐄𝐑𝐄'𝐒 𝐍𝐎 𝐏𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐄 𝐅𝐎𝐑 𝐃𝐎𝐔𝐁𝐓. This woman is different somehow, he could surmise as much just form laying eyes on her during the auction. Now that their gazes meet, an AWARENESS sparks to life within, which only further confirms his initial suspicions. It’s not just her appearance either—She is beautiful, even for a human—But to try and figure out what is SPECIAL about her right now would be a waste of time. The faster they get out of there, the better for everyone. He cannot risk someone spying on them and discovering his TRUE objective, because it would jeopardize those that he’s managed to save already. And make it all the more hard to help others.
The woman hesitantly grasps his outstretched hand, his hold secure but careful while helping her stand and asking for her name. It’s a curious one, but Rhys doesn’t question it, just as it doesn’t surprise him to hear the CYNICISM in her voice. Wordlessly, the male lifts his free hand where a swirl of NIGHT colored smoke fades in and out, leaving behind a cup of water that he offers to her. ❛ My name is Rhysand, ❜ his voice echoes in her mind. ❝ I’ll answer your questions once we’re out of here. ❞ The raven haired speaks smoothly following the mental introduction, intending on winnowing out of there once they stepped into the elevator ( which conveniently has no cameras inside ). But Dany evidently will NOT follow along without an explanation. One of the other humans did confront him, quite loudly, so the High Lord had to induce sleep on her. Although this one is being considerably polite in comparison, he does once more consider doing the same, only because he's IMPATIENT to get out.
❝ There are worse things, ❞ he agrees, releasing her hand when feeling the tug on it. It’s not like she’ll go far if she tries to make a run for it. ❝ I can’t blame you for your disbelief, Dany, truly. I wouldn’t trust me if I were in your place. ❞ And he has been in her place centuries ago during the war, when he was a PRISONER to Amarantha. ❝ If I let you go right now, it’ll only be worse for you. If you believe you can escape, I can assure you that you won’t. I think you’re smart enough to realize that. Now, ❞ Rhysand gracefully lifts both hands, gesturing to their surroundings.
❝ We can stay here, and I can indulge you in conversation before putting you to sleep with a single thought. And you’ll see and know nothing until you wake up again. Or, ❞ the Fae male steps aside just as the elevator opens, motioning towards it with an arm. His voice is CASUAL, as though he’s listing options off a restaurant menu. ❝ You can step inside, and in less than a minute—if you choose quickly, we’ll be out of here and you’ll be awake to see it all. ❞ Leaning against the frame of the elevator so that the door stays open, he crosses STRONG arms over a broad chest. The movement causes the collar of his black tailored suit to shift and glimpse at the lines of a tattoo underneath. ❝ Your choice, Dany. ❞

Reasons Why Daenerys Sacrificing Herself is Stupid
So, I have seen from the fandom points on that while people might not believe Daenerys will be killed, she will die sacrificing herself for the good of humanity against the Others in the books. Thus ending her arc in a 'better' manner. Yet this STILL includes harping on a female characters death, even if it is 'heroic', it's still just as bad as contemplating Dany dying by being killed by anything else. Some reasonings based on this theory vary:
-Some say Dany sacrificing herself will be a 'redemption' after she goes mad in the books and burns shit down (which is as ooc as it is and stems off of misogyny).
-Some say it is better for Dany to die sacrificing herself as a hero to rid/atone of the 'sins' of her ancestors (also misogynistic, and stupid.)
-Some say they'd rather see Dany die through self-sacrifice than any other way (but why see Dany die at all? Why not want for her to live happily instead, either as Queen or in a home of her own choosing?)
-Some say Dany will sacrifice herself to Jon as Nissa Nissa for the good of humanity (also misogynistic. Reduces Dany as a character. Dany is Azor Ahai, not Nissa Nissa).
The issue within Dany sacrificing herself overall, is it is an inherently misogynistic act within itself perturbed by those who want it to happen. Either way Dany sacrificing herself makes her a plot device, no matter how it happens. It strips away her character and what she represents.
-Dany sacrificing herself as Nissa Nissa is misogynistic in the way it strips Dany down from her character and simply makes her a tool. A vessel used for 'man pain' and only given a role for the man to be the hero. The woman dies so the man can continue on. She dies for the man and that is her only role in this portrayal. Even if Dany 'willingly' made herself Nissa Nissa and allowed it, overall it leaves a bad taste. It paints a narrative that her only use was for another man. A narrative that she was only useful for being a man's 'lover' and murdered in the end. A piece to be used and tossed away once done with.
Let's face the truth here, Dany is Azor Ahai. Her dragons Lightbringer. Dany does not need to be Nissa Nissa, because she already fulfilled the prophecy. Drogo was the sacrifice in this situation instead of Dany. The roles were reversed.
-Dany sacrificing herself (through battle or other means) also paints a misogynistic narrative. Her being a piece for sacrifice strips her of all her qualities; her intelligence, her ability and skill, her overall character arc and what she has done and achieved. It paints a picture that she is only of use to die. It makes everything she has ever achieved and accomplished and learned wasted on nothing. What is the point of her arc and all that she has learned and done if it's all just going to be wasted on her death in the end? Her apparently 'sacrificing' herself?
I do not see anyone discussed more of sacrificing themselves than Dany. And it's sad how people cannot enjoy a deeply written and amazing character without speculating on how they're going to die. It's sad people cannot enjoy Dany just for what she is without needing to make up theories just for how she will die. Why must she die? Why can't she live and have an accomplished and complete arc that results in her eventual happiness?
-The theory that Dany sacrificing herself for redemption after burning a city (like KL) is gross. Season 8 isn't canon, it isn't a part of G.R.R.M's ending. I highly doubt Dany is just gonna go crazy and start massacring people, when that has never been the point of her character and arc. G.R.R.M paints Dany as a HERO. Her narrative arc overall is that of a heroic one (but that doesn't have to include self-sacrifice done as a 'heroic' or 'redeemable act' either). G.R.R.M has also already denied a theory speculating Dany burning down the Water Gardens, why would he have her burn down KL instead? It makes no sense and would be a very ooc thing for Dany to do (no matter the circumstances). It is again, misogyny, to believe that Dany would just suddenly go crazy and burn shit, only to be able to 'redeem' her actions later by sacrificing herself and getting killed. If I needed that shit of an idea as an arc for Dany in the books, I might as well just ring up D&D and ask them to finish the books instead.
-Dany sacrificing herself to atone for the 'sins' of her ancestors/bloodline is also just as bad. What sins have her ancestors committed that she needs to atone for? I'd say most of her blood already atoned for their own sins given the tragedy that befell many Targs throughout the years. It does NOT fall on Dany to 'atone' for what her ancestors have done by sacrificing herself. There is the saying 'not to judge a person by the sins of their family'. Dany is not her family. She does not need to 'atone' for any sins. I'd say she's already doing a pretty good damn job of it already by upending the slavery economy, and being the person that she is- kind, compassionate, etc.
-As for theorizing she will sacrifice herself because there is no other vision for her death- again, I ask the question: why does she need to die at all?
Dany doesn't need to sacrifice herself. I doubt her arc will lead to that for her end. She is TPTWP, Azor Ahai. Her role against the Others will be one of triumph, not death. Dany is fire, she is life, she is Mother. There would be no point in her entire narrative arc, or even her written existence for that matter being raised up as such a large role, just for her to die in the end through 'self sacrifice'. I am sure many sacrifices will be needed during the Long Night, but Dany won't be one of them.
Let's not forget that Dany is the only person to
-First learn of the Song of Ice and Fire within the books
-Bring dragons back from extinction into the world
-Upend the slave trade/economy to help those enslaved
-Walk through fire to hatch dragons from stone
It is not her role to simply be used and traded off as some pawn for sacrifice. Her role is much bigger than just that. Dany is one of the main central characters within ASOIAF, she is the Fire in the title: A Song of Ice and Fire. Her role is not to sacrifice herself to the Others, but to end the coming darkness and bring Spring.
Dany is a hero, and she will continue to slay. Stay mad about it.

"I decided I would not die."
It is often said in the fandom Daenerys must achieve redemption through sacrificing herself during the War for the Dawn, by people who believe the show switched the order of the events and she burns King's Landing first.
Well, how about we take a look at what GRRM actually thinks of how redemption is achieved?
Finally I hit on the way. Outside my house, I attached two great iron chains to the wall. By night I donned the manacles, and threw the key as far as I was able. A very long way. I waited for the dawn. The sun was worse than I remembered. It burned and blinded me. Everything blurred. My skin was on fire. I think I began to scream. I know I closed my eyes. I was out there for hours, closer and closer to death. There was nothing in me except guilt. And then, somehow, in the fever of my death, I decided to live. How, why, I cannot tell you. But it seemed to me that I had always loved life, in myself and in others. That was why health and beauty and youth drew me so. I loathed myself because I gave death to the world, and yet here I was, killing once more, though this time the victim was myself. I could not wash out my sins with more blood, more death, I thought. To atone, I must live, bring life and beauty and hope back into the world to take the place of all that I had taken. I remembered my father’s vanished servants then. There were others of my race in the world. Vampires, werewolves, warlocks, whatever they might be, they were out there in the night. How did they deal with the red thirst, I wondered. If only I could find them. I could trust my own kind where I could not trust humans. We could help each other conquer the evil that consumed us. I could learn from them. I decided I would not die.
Fevre Dream, bloodsuckers! It shows us very clear in writing here for GRRM redemption is achieved through living, in spite of Death the ultimate and the final enemy of all, represented by the icy Others in A Song of Ice and Fire and by the slave master Damon Julian, the most ancient of all vampires, in Fevre Dream; like how immortal soul is earned through striving to do good deeds for three hundred years in The Little Mermaid, ever a lapsed Catholic hedonist, GRRM.

EWAN MITCHELL INTERVIEWED BY NME MAGAZINE.
WHERE DID YOU WATCH THE 'HOUSE OF THE DRAGON' SEASON TWO FINALE?
“I watched it yesterday on my TV.”
“Just with a few friends.”
IN THE FINALE, THE WAR THAT'S BEEN BREWING DIDN'T HAPPEN – WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT FANS WILL HAVE TO WAIT ANOTHER TWO YEARS FOR THE CONFLICT?
“The wait will be worth it!”
SOME FANS HAVE COMPLAINED IT WAS A SLOW SEASON – WHAT DID YOU THINK?
“I think there’s moments for everyone.”
“What I love about Aemond… it’s like he can’t sit still.”
“He has to be moving.”
“And he possesses such a kind of catalytic energy that whenever he’s on screen, you know something’s gonna happen.”
“So it’s nice.”
“And the Council Table, there’s so much conflict between these relationships that we all share around this table that I loved to dive into.”
AEMOND'S BECOME A FAN FAVOURITE...
“Yeah.”
“I’m not on social media, but the fan mail that I received is so well articulated, and it’s often badass to listen to the reaction.”
WHAT DID YOU THINK OF DAEMON'S PROPHETIC THRONES-LIKE VISION IN THE FINALE?
“I haven’t seen Game Of Thrones.”
“But I understood that the moments with the White Walkers and you had Daenerys with the three dragons… they’re callbacks, but they’re also glimpses into the future.”
“It’s quite genius to link the two shows in that regard, through magic.”
SO DID YOU DECIDE DELIBERATELY NOT TO WATCH GAME OF THRONES WHEN YOU WERE CAST? AND WILL YOU WATCH IT ONE DAY?
“Yeah, when this show finishes up, I’d love to get around to watching Game Of Thrones.”
“It was just always a choice that I made when I landed the role.”
“I didn’t want to watch it and have it consciously – or subconsciously – affect my choices for my character…”
“I really wanted to draw from other worlds and areas of pop culture and different sources of inspiration.”
HAVE YOU HAD MUCH CONTACT WITH GEORGE R.R. MARTIN HIMSELF?
“No, I haven’t, but he’s definitely a man’s brain I’d like to pick for sure.”
“I’d love to meet him and talk about all things Aemond.”
THIS WAS AN EIGHT-EPISODE SEASON. WOULD YOU, IN SOME RESPECTS, LIKED TO HAVE SEEN A COUPLE MORE EPISODES TO EXPAND THE STORYLINE?
“I just think the more House Of The Dragon the better, you know?”
“I just love exploring Aemond and I can’t wait to explore even more so in the next season.”
SO WHAT ARE YOU ANTICIPATING FOR HIM IN SEASON THREE?
“They’ve always said that Targaryens are closer to Gods than men… but after episode seven with 'The Red Sowing,' that kind of put that belief into question.”
“The divide between the common folk and Dragonlords isn’t as big as what it was thought to be.”
“And so it kind of puts all Targaryens… we’re just like common folk.”
“And I think Aemond, he retaliates in such a way (that you see in episode eight) that’s quite desperate.”
“He literally begs his sister, Helaena, to join him on dragonback to take out Daemon.”
“Going into season three, there’s certainly a blockade that needs to be broken.”
DAEMON USES THE IMMORTAL PHRASE, “WINTER IS COMING” IN THE SEASON TWO FINALE. DO YOU FEEL LIKE SEASON THREE WILL BE AN MUCH DARKER?
“I think so.”
“They say that when a Targaryen is born, they get to toss a coin.”
“One side is greatness and the other side is madness.”
“And we’ve got a whole family of these guys.”
“So you could argue this is probably the craziest we’ve ever seen Westeros.”
“And next season, they’re going to be at each other’s throats.”

What would sickly brother reader be known for in the histories when it reaches to Daenerys?
What had happened to him after the dance of the dragons?
Prince of Rizz? The Dragon with the Bomb Ass D? The Harem Maker? No but seriously I’m not sure what he would be known as or referred to in the history of both House Targaryen and Westeros alike, but I can certainly guarantee that he would definitely be very well known and talked about for plenty of years to come. I can’t help but imagine the left over Targaryens and Velaryon definitely hyping the shit out of Sickly!Brother!Reader to the point that he’s far more revered than a lot of other Targaryens before and after him.
Regarding what happens to him afterwards, I’m torn between a few ideas. Whether he ended up taking the throne in the very beginning and had a pretty peaceful ruling with the addition of fathering even more children then before. Or everything still ends up taking place as it did in canon and Sickly!Brother!Reader being left surviving most of his family and being thoroughly affected by it. I imagine that he would try his damndest to be there for Aegon III and Viserys II like he was there for everyone else before but eventually losing the fight with himself and dying due to a broken heart.
I’ve even considered that maybe he in fact does perish before the dance is over, either of his own accord or by being a mere casualty. Or maybe after Rhaenyra’s death and Aegon II takes over again the Reader decides he’s had enough hurt and guilt over everything that’s taken place over the dance of dragons that he kills himself, not wanting to go through anything more or rather not being able to. Then again I could see Sickly!Brother!Reader sticking around long enough for Aegon III to be made king and Viserys II his hand before the Reader finally chooses to do what he wants and go off to live the rest of his life peacefully somewhere else, somewhere just for him and him alone.
Honestly, I have a lot of ideas for Sickly!Brother!Reader’s end. I’ve even played around with the thought of the Reader becoming immortal and being around for the entirety of House Targaryens shenanigans, gods help him if that’s the case. The poor man will still probably be fathering kids that he has no inkling of over and over again.

Quarterfinals, Match 1: Daenerys Targaryen vs. Gintoki Sakata
Submitted kids:
Daenerys Targaryen: Drogon, Rhaegal, Viserion, Grey Worm, Missandei, the entire population of Slavers Bay
Gintoki Sakata: Kagura and Shinpachi Shimura, his own de aged mentor Shouyou, Hashida Kanshichirou, and Seita
Propaganda under the cut!
Daenerys Targaryen:
1. “Is there any better example of a serial adopter than someone who has adopted an entire city? Daenerys not only is the mother of dragons with her three dragons being her magic children, but she's also adopted soldiers, polyglot preteens, and old man renowned for his honor, and three cities worth of freed slaves. She takes her responsibility as their mother (or 'hysa' as used in the books) extremely seriously, giving up her goals of reaching Westeros to help ensure that her freed children are able to function in Meereen (notably the books handle this situation much better than the show but the show's cultural impact is too big to ignore)”
2. “#girl takes being mother to her people to the extreme sometimes #not many people have the dedication to risk catching the plague to go personally help the afflicted”
Gintoki Sakata:
1. “Gintoki is introduced to us as a depressed twenty seven year old dealing with ptsd who first adopts Shinpachi after protecting him from Amanto (aliens, who have somewhat taken over earth) who were harassing him, which led to Shinpachi losing his job, and Gintoki having to help him rescue his sister Otae from the family’s debtors. Shinpachi comes to work for Gintoki as Odd Jobs, soon joined by Kagura (an amanto herself with super strength who was working as part of gang prior to Shinpachi and Gintoki helping her leave) Kagura leaves in his house and later Gintoki allows her to get a pet dog. It’s made clear that these three are a family and more than a few episodes make it clear that Kagura seems Gintoki as her earth father (her bio dad, the strongest man in the universe, goes around the galaxy fighting monsters) and Shinpachi feels a familial connection to him as well. There’s also Hashida, a baby who looks a lot like Gintoki, whom Gintoki takes care of when the custody battle over Hashida becomes an actual battle. This includes drinking together, tying the baby to his back while fighting his way to Hashida’s mom, and Hashida crying when Gintoki leaves, after promising they’ll share a drink when Hashida is older. In a similar vein is Seita, a street kid who tries to pickpocket Gintoki but gets robbed in return and ends up working for Gintoki’s landlady (Gintoki’s own adoptive mother) and being taken care of by her and the odd jobs family as a whole, before Gintoki discovers Seita’s mother is Hinowa, the Sun of Yoshiwara and its highest ranking courtesan, and fights Housen, a crime lord who fought Kagura’s father for three days and nights until they considered it a draw, and kills him, just so Seita and Hinowa can reunite. During the timeskip late in the series, we discover after seemingly defeating the Big Bad Utsuro (an immortal who formerly was Gintoki’s adoptive father and teacher Shouyou) Gintoki spent two years raising the reincarnated Shouyou as a baby, before being given his heart to prevent Utsuro’s followers from taking it. These are just the most notable examples, pretty much any character younger than Gintoki gets taken care of or helped by him in a way, including Kagura’s older brother, temporary member of Odd Jobs Pirako, and even to an extent youngest Shinsengumi member Okita Sougo. Gintoki is positioned as acting as the same adoptive parent role as his own adopters (Shouyou and his landlady Otose) are, taking on similar burdens and making, or trying to make) similar sacrifices as well. He can be really soft with kids at times, and has at least once carried Kagura and Shinpachi away from a fight on his back.”
2. “#hell adopt your unorphaned kid hell adopt your dad hell adopt his own deaged mentor!!!”

That Familiar Feeling of Family (or how Hob Gadling ended up as an uncle to his stranger's oftentimes feral children): Chapter 1
It's a pretty universally known thing that families are just strange. As Hob is quickly figuring out, however, this little fact is magnified by AT LEAST a billion when the family in question is Endless.
(A lighthearted story in which Hob Gadling finds out his stranger has married, makes friends with a homicidal maniac/ruler, and manages to become an exemplary uncle to a pack of magically mischievous children. Really, now all he has to do is convince everyone to stop calling his and Dream's weekly meetups "playdates", and then his life would be practically perfect.)
AO3 here, Masterlist here
Hob is running.
Now, that isn't an unusual occurrence in and of itself. After all, the immortal has been forced to flee many many times in his centuries of existence, and he can say without a speck of arrogance that he's become rather adept at it. But this running is dramatically different for one very large reason.
A literally large reason.
In that it's the first occasion, at least as far as he's aware, that he's ever had to try and outsprint a gargantuan bloody dragon.
Try being the operative term here, because while he is indeed foolishly attempting it, he's also failing miserably if the puff of steamed breath that's tickling his neck is any indication. Which he guesses makes an inordinate amount of sense. Really, has he mentioned already how massive his pursuer is?
The beast behind him lets out a loud, guttural roar, its feet causing the ground to shake as it chases after him like it's just a giant dog and he's got a half opened packet of hot dogs in his coat pocket.
Hob idly wonders whether he'll actually die if (probably better to say when) that thing finally catches and devours him. He's never had the misfortune of being consumed before, so he's not quite sure how that will work out for him. What if there's just an arm left? Will it still be him? Will he spend his eternity as nothing more than a single discarded body part that has sentience but no way to speak?
"Archibald! No! Bad!"
The voice, when it calls out this rather ludicrous admonishment, is definitely that of a child. A little girl if he had to guess, and when he does a quick glance around to see where she might be at (so he can hopefully save her from being eaten) he's shocked to spot her standing near his would-be killer. For a minute, Hob can't make sense of what he's seeing. The girl is in front of the reptilian monster, uncomfortably close to one of its frankly enormous nostrils, and she's pointing a finger at it, wearing the sternest expression on her youthful features that he's ever seen in his life.
The dragon crouches down, hanging its head as if in shame while the child, his possible savior, roundly chastises it. "Archie! You know better. What would Dadda say?"
She softens her scolding, though, by running one of her tiny hands along the leathery snout over its mouth, the same mouth that Hob is completely certain is filled with rows and rows of razor sharp teeth, and he isn't quite sure how to handle this. What’s the protocol here? He feels frozen as he watches the scene unfold before him, not knowing whether he should intervene and usher the girl out of harm's way or whether she’s really in any danger at all, since she seems almost as if…. as if she commands this thing? Like a young Daenerys Targaryen, except for the facts that she looks to be about five and she's clothed in a ridiculously frilly pink dress paired with shiny, immaculately black combat boots.
He's honestly… so confused. But he finds himself moving closer anyway, driven by that curiosity he’s never lost in all of his hundreds of years of living.
The girl seems to gentle towards her… pet? Can a dragon even be called a pet? He's having difficulty thinking of this nightmarish creature as anything so mundane, but even he has to admit that it’s exactly what the hellbeast appears to be regardless.
"He won't let you… won't let you be a dragon if he… finds out about this."
The dragon, that he's just starting to process must be named Archibald or Archie, since he's heard her say it a couple times, lowers its massive head to nuzzle against the child, a puff of steam unfurling from its nostrils to ruffle her hair as it huffs like it's pouting. She soothes it then, stroking her fingers along its dark scales, the ones that seem shot through with a little sapphire when the brilliant sun from above hits them at just the right angle.
"I know," she goes on. "I won't tell him, Archie, but no chasing the dreamers. Dadda was ad… ada…" She frowns at this as if she's struggling over the word.
And Hob, having once had a precious son of his own who sometimes got caught up on pronouncing things, can't help but to offer a quiet, "Adamant?"
The little girl's face lights up, her ocean blue eyes widening at him in something like grateful glee. "Adamant," she repeats slowly. "That's… it."
He takes a minute to study her then, this too young dragon tamer. She's a small child, lovely in that same ethereal, unnatural way that he's always associated with his stranger. Her hair is a mess of riotous raven curls that seem to be coming loose from a single braid plaited at the back of her head, and her complexion is almost translucently pale save for the bright rosy flush on her cheeks.
"I'm… Hob," he supplies with only a mite of hesitation.
Her smile is almost overwhelming in its joy. "Hi, Hob! I'm Aurora!"
And he opens his mouth then to ask after her parents and where they might be, to question her about the ferocious looking mythological beast that she seems to be in control of, but he isn't afforded the opportunity to do any of those things. Another voice joins them before he can, a melodic, otherworldly one that Hob knows all too well.
It's his… stranger.
His coat is longer here, draping down to the ground like something Hob would have worn in his goth punk days back in the eighties, but other than that he seems to have on the same black shirt, black pants, and black boots combo that Hob last saw him in.
Hob takes a minute to gawk. He isn't ashamed to admit that his stranger is beautiful, all marble skin and high cut cheekbones, his hair a wild disarray of windblown black that sticks up at odd angles, almost as if it's the one part of his appearance that his magic can't seem to render as tame.
"Aurora, what have I relayed to you concerning Archibald? I was told that he was in dragon form and terrorizing the wolves yet again."
"Dadda," the girl in question starts, sounding very contrite. "He won't do it… anymore."
His stranger's face tightens in what Hob thinks is supposed to be a severe expression, though it's clear he's not quite getting there in his daughter's bubbly presence.
Wait.
Waaaaaait a minute.
What?
What did....
His… daughter? She'd said Dadda, hadn't she? Hadn’t she…. referred to his stranger by that title? His stranger? His stubborn, broody, took-a-century-to-admit-that-Hob-was-even-his-friend stranger? For a moment, Hob feels like he needs to sit, like he might pass out between the running for his life not ten minutes prior and the revelation that this child could belong…. to…. to Dream.
Not that Hob ever really calls him that. He’d only gotten the name a few years ago when they'd last met, and while it had been a nice piece of information to have (and long overdue in his humble and frustrated opinion) he’d spent over six hundred years referring to his stranger as just that. And he honestly doesn’t see this habit of his changing anytime soon.
"I believe that is what I was promised when last he engaged in such unruliness," Dream goes on, seemingly oblivious to the panic attack that Hob is having. Truthfully, that shocks Hob not at all.
"He's still a… a baby, Dadda."
And yeah. Hob’s not wrong. She'd assuredly called him Dadda, had just said it again even.
"Be that as it may, he is not permitted to wreak havoc on the realm or its inhabitants. No matter his age, starshine."
At last, Hob seems to find his voice, and he uses it to let out a small, barely there, "Dadda?"
He flushes a little with embarrassment as soon as the word is out of his mouth, because it sounds… not great. It's definitely not what he imagined himself saying at his next meeting with his oldest friend. But his stranger only goes stock still, his shoulders tensing as he glances towards Hob, his eyes narrowing in something that Hob thinks might actually be confusion.
Which… is all too completely understandable. Although, Hob will confess that he's never thought that his mopey stranger would ever be capable of looking as thoroughly perplexed as he does right this moment.
"Hob Gadling?" Dream questions.
"Is that… Is that your daughter?"
"It is," he allows slowly. "This is Aurora."
And while he introduces them, albeit awkwardly, Hob thinks he detects a fair amount of fatherly pride in the way that Dream puts one elegant, long fingered hand on the girl's shoulder to pull her against his side, in the way that his rather harsh, angular features soften as he smiles down at her. Seeing this, he supposes, might make him happy in any other situation, and it's a nice thing that his rather… er, reserved (i.e. cold, distant, and emotionally repressed, though Hob would never say it aloud) stranger is obviously comfortable enough with him to show it.
But… this isn't any other situation. This is a rather… big piece of news that Hob's just been walloped over the head with.
“You have a child?” Hob blurts out, his brain processing this revelation so sporadically that it’s almost humiliating.
Dream's brow furrows. “I believe that I only just conveyed as much to you. Are you…. quite well?”
“I’m sorry. A daughter? I can’t…." Hob struggles to articulate his thoughts, an utterly unsurprising complication given that he's relatively certain that this has to all be some strange fever dream. "Why didn’t you tell me about her the last time we met?”
Dream narrows his eyes again before glancing down at the girl. “Starshine, go and assist Archibald in returning to his dog form.”
Dog form? Dog form? That fire-breathing beast becomes a dog? For some reason, he's picturing Cerberus, with its three terrifying heads and the blood of those unlucky dead who try to escape the Underworld dripping from each of their corresponding fang-toothed maws. Hob wonders idly if the aneurysm he's sure to have soon is going to kill him.
“But Dadda….”
“No. He is forbidden from being a dragon for at least a week. Especially since I now see that he has been chasing the dreamers despite my explicit directive not to do so.”
Pointedly, he looks towards Hob, who in turn swings his gaze to his young, temporarily forgotten, savior. Her eyes have gone wide and pleading, and Hob feels his stomach lurch in guilt.
"I was… just walking about, old friend."
And that wanker, that enigmatic tosspot (who hadn't even bothered to tell him he had a child) only raises an eyebrow in an expression of such incredulity that Hob knows he's trying to call bullshit without actually speaking the words. "Walking?"
"Yes. Briskly."
That eyebrow goes somehow higher up on Dream's forehead. "By which you mean you were running."
Hob shakes his head. He's done some shady things in his very long life, but even he's not heartless enough to separate a girl from her… er, pet. "No. Not at all. Just… strolling. Vigorously."
And for some reason, Dream seems amused by this, as if he is aware that Hob is lying and it's humorous to him. “Very well. Three days then, Aurora.”
She claps gleefully (like she's just won something grand) before wandering out of earshot to presumably tend to her dragon/dog, and Morpheus grants Hob a small smile when she's gone. "You need not have lied on that vile monstrosity's behalf, Hob Gadling."
"I didn't-"
"You indeed did. This is my realm. I know all that transpires within its borders."
There's a loud pop from where the girl and the dragon are, and when Hob swings his gaze over towards them, he sees a great quantity of smoke clearing rapidly away.
"Obviously not, or else you'd know it was on your daughter's behalf that I stretched the truth a bit," Hob snarks back.
Aurora steps out of the cloud before plopping down on the ground, followed immediately by a small, fluffy… thing that comes running out from behind her, yapping loudly. Hob winces, thinking that he almost prefers that menacing roar from earlier to the high-pitched noise it's making now.
"You utterly discarded the truth in this case, friend."
Hob crosses his arms over his chest in a defensive gesture. He can admit to feeling a little… well, hurt that Dream obviously hadn't bothered to inform him of his child, and despite that being referred to as a friend by this brooding pillock does make him slightly less upset, he's still angry.
"Pets are important to children. I didn't want to see her lose one to your temper."
Little Aurora pulls a sketchbook and a container of pencils from the bag that Hob is absolutely positive she hadn't had with her before. Humming, she munches happily on something that Hob thinks might be crackers, and he is suddenly aware of the fact that someone must have taken the time to pack these for her. Hob, to preserve what little bit of his sanity he has remaining, is going to assume that it was this child's mother who'd done so since he can't for the life of him imagine this eternal god-like entity before him puttering around a kitchen and preparing snacks like a normal bloke. That might be more unbelievable than the dragon as far as Hob's concerned.
"Ah. I see," Dream tells him, and it sounds almost as if he's trying to be… kind? "Let me set your mind at ease then, Hob Gadling. Even were I willing to hurt my daughter and do away with that ghastly creature, my wife would never allow such a thing. So, you need not worry over the matter."
Hob feels himself go rigid. Did he just say….. "Wait a minute? Wife?"
"You are soon to wake, Hob."
"Oh, no, no, no," Hob protests, putting his hands up, palm out, towards Dream. "You need to explain to me what you mean by wife."
It's no use, though. Between one blink and the next, Hob is lurching from his sleep, the image of his stranger smirking at him still fresh in his mind. His breathing is heavy, and he's soaked through with sweat, enough so that he knows he's going to have to change the sheets today. Wearily, he scrubs a tired hand over his face, and he tells himself that all of that must have been some strange fever dream, after all.
Reaching out for the bottle of water he keeps by his bed, Hob is alarmed to see a piece of paper folded and tucked there. He snatches it up, opening the thick parchment to reveal an array of hearts drawn and colored in what he thinks might be twenty different shades of crayon. The message at the bottom is done in a messy, childish scrawl, and it reads:
Deer Mr. Hob. It wuz nise to sea u. Visit agin turmeric, pleeze.
And Hob Gadling, who'd once won immortality just with the questionable skill of being able to run his mouth, finds that in this case, he can only stare blankly at the invitation in complete silence.

I feel like any fan of A Song of Ice and Fire needs one really batshit theory that they have gone all in on—whether it's that Roose Bolton is an immortal vampire or that totally dead Martell guy being totally not dead at all—so here is mine:
Mirri Maz Duur is a time traveler who came back in time to kill Hitler Rhaego.
Do I have any proof? Nope! But do I have anything to directly contradict me either? Not off the top of my head, but I should reread Daenerys VIII-X AGOT to be sure. I mean, she could probably have gotten lessons from Marwyn after she got sent to the past.
Do I actually believe Mirri Maz Duur is a time traveler? ... okay, maybe not. But I kind of want to write it as a fanfic now. And at least I'm not making youtube theory videos about it.

Modern Reader The Saviour and faithful loyal friend of House Targaryen is Daenys’s best friend, her knight in shining armour, the one who saved her from two Valyrians who wanted to hurt her. Modern Reader is the only one who saw Valyria, before the Doom.
Remember that two Valyrians said “You’ll pay for this” to Modern Reader, after she beat their asses? Yep, they wanted to punish her. Two Valyrians accused Modern Reader for attacking them, meanwhile Daenys tells everyone in the court that Modern Reader saved her from them. These two Valyrians are from a very powerful families and it’s possible for them to hurt Modern Reader. In result: Modern Reader was sent to prison cell, or working in mines next to Volcanoes. You probably know how horrible were conditions in mines. Those who were working, were praying for death. Daenys, Gaemon and Lord Aenar knew this as well. Daenys was terrified, she didn’t want to lose her friend.
Modern Reader was in prison cell, where it was super hot, but luckily or unfortunately she was immortal. One day Daenys visited her friend, she noticed burns and scars on Modern Reader, which resulted her to cry. Modern Reader wiped her tears away and comforted her, saying “Don’t cry, Daenys. I’ll get out soon.” Daenys told Modern Reader her vision the Doom of Valyria. Modern Reader warned that the vision is true, she told her she needs to leave the Valyria with her family, to save their lives. Daenys didn’t want to leave Y/N, which Y/N replies “I’ll be fine, I promise you. We will meet again soon.” That’s when Targaryens left the Valyria.
As for Modern Reader she was released, then she warned others about the Doom. Some didn’t believe it, others laughed at her, but there were those who believed: House Qoherys, Celtigar and Velaryon. Modern Reader left Valyria with Velaryons. They managed to leave as fast as they could, they probably used air magic, because there were few hours before the Doom. They were escaped the Doom. After travelling, they managed to get to Dragonstone. Daenys was waiting for Y/N because she got the vision of her return. Once they saw each other, they ran towards one another. Daenys engulf Y/N in tight hug, crying happy tears, the same does Modern Reader. It’s wholesome scenery to see two best friends meet each other after a long time. There were scars on Modern Reader’s body, but soon they healed. After some time later a family portrait was painted: Daenys the Dreamer, her brother-husband Gaemon Targaryen, her father Aenar Targaryen and her children, next to them was Y/N L/N The Saviour and faithful loyal friend with a scar on her cheek.
That’s what Visenya, Aegon and Rhaenys were told about Modern Reader, when their parents were reading the books about Modern Reader to them.
I think it’s a wonderful script. Modern Reader The Saviour and faithful loyal friend went so much in Valyria, a dramatic and fascinating story. And now here she is, Modern Reader who’s dealing with her beloved Conquerors who want to marry her.
So, your thoughts about it?
Also how would Yandere Conquerors react to what Modern Reader went through in Valyria (scenario I wrote above)? How would they react to the scars on Modern Reader’s body? Of course they’re healed, but some of them are noticeable and they look badly.
P.S.: I think I would call Modern Reader The Saviour and faithful loyal friend- Immortal Modern Reader. Because it’s short and understandable. Immortal Modern Reader is the only one who saw Valyria, before the Doom. And now to think about that she disappeared in there, when she was looking for Aerea and Balerion during Jaehaerys’s reign is kinda…sad. Valyria is the place where Immortal Modern Reader met Targaryens, the place where she suffered and the place where she never returned from, all because she was protecting House Targaryen, like she was always doing that.
It's a great scenario. 🤩 Daenerys and the modern reader scenes are very sweet.😍 I think if the reader is insecure about scars, the conquerors will support the reader in this matter. They will delight the reader greatly. The ending of the story made me a little sad. The Targaryens never forget the reader. All Targaryens have information about the reader. Who knows, maybe the reader's grandchildren will meet the Targaryens.

10 fandoms / 10 characters / 10 tags
tagged by @virgo-dream and @seiya-starsniper, thank you! this took me a while... the way my hyperfixations work is, i'll completely devote myself to a piece of media for a time... then once i find something else i move on almost entirely lol. i of course still have a very soft spot for the shows/video games listed here (as well as my blorbos, such as they are) but the only fandom im currently active in is, of course, Sandman.
1: Levi Ackerman - Attack on Titan
I am in a love/hate relationship with AoT lmao (and some day i WILL finish the final season) but nothing, not even fandom war, will ever change my love for Levi. I'm obsessed with his backstory, how he came into the Survey Corps, and how it all sheds light on the decisions he makes and the tragedies he suffered through. I was fascinated by him since S1 and after the No Regrets manga came out, I was done for. He has been through so much and despite how cruel and unforgiving he seems, he actually has the biggest heart and-- guh I just love him. He deserves the world ;^;
2: Zuko - Avatar the Last Airbender
Truly was torn between Zuko or Katara... but I have always had mad respect for Zuko's redemption arc and how brilliantly it was written. I love how it takes a full season and a half for him to have this war within himself, that he makes the right decision but then regresses... before literally becoming sick with indecision and change. And then he finally proves his worth and becomes the most loyal friend and a perfect leader to rebuild a broken society. I'm a sucker for good character stories, and Zuko's arc in ATLA is my hands down favorite ever.
3: Roxas - Kingdom Hearts
God I just love tragic male characters, huh? lmao. This one is a no brainer to me. Roxas is the OG blorbo. I fell in love with him at the tender age of 17 and have never looked back. He is kind and loyal but also a feral gremlin. He is so goofy but sad and god dammit, I love his voice and his baby blue eyes. Also this line, "This could have been the other way around." *shakes fist* MY BOY!
4: Faye Valentine - Cowboy Bebop
We love complex characters in this house! Faye has all the traits of a character I usually wouldn't vibe with: she's arrogant (without much to back it up lol), lazy, and is susceptible to addictions. But oooh do I love a character who uses negative traits to hide how emotionally vulnerable they are. Faye appears strong, mean, and confident to a fault, but inside she craves companionship and is incredibly lonely (despite her lone wolf tendencies). Rewatching the show as an adult, I found Faye and I have a lot in common lol. She needs a hug.
5: Hob Gadling - The Sandman
Do I really need to say anything? lol I love that Hob is the fandom's plaything; molding and shaping him and writing him in all sorts of different ways... but I do adore his canon character. He is brash, stubborn, at times cruel and violent... but then immeasurably kind, loyal, and forgiving. He takes on immortality in unexpected ways. he thrives, he suffers, he works, he regresses, he makes mistakes, he learns from them, he changes... he is THE human experience.
6: Daenerys Targaryen - Game of Thrones
Robbed. Robbed. Absolutely robbed. The writers did Daenerys so dirty, I refuse to accept the final 3 seasons of GOT as canon lmao. (and here's another thing: I would totally accept her spiral into "madness" if it had been handled seriously. If the writers didn't just pull this out of their ass and instead thoughtfully worked in justifiable reasoning for her to go crazy). I'm 100% a stan and there's actually nothing you can say that will change my mind :)
7: Cal Kestis - Star Wars, Jedi: Fallen Order
My SON. My BOY! I have the adoption papers ready.
8: Tifa Lockhart - Final Fantasy VII
Another OG blorbo lmao. She's been with me since I was a teenager (also I always shipped her with Cloud, not Aerith. I do however ship Aerith and Zack... the latter whom almost made this list. Anyway-). Tifa is the badass motherfucker with a heart of gold. She is insanely loyal and truly the wisest of the bunch.
9: Mickey Milkovich - Shameless
ANOTHER BROKEN CHARACTER WHO GOES THROUGH EXTREME DEVELOPMENT? Can anyone sense a pattern?? This motherfuckerrrr *shakes Mikey and slaps him in the face and sobs* God I love it when a seemingly irredeemable character goes THROUGH IT and comes out shining a new, yet somehow the same old, sarcastic bitch.
(Also please note that Lip Gallagher almost made this list. Another shining example of the writers doing his character the WORST injustice just to keep him on the show. He should have stayed in college. He almost GOT OUT. He almost broke the chain. What he did was not in line with his character and I will stay mad about it).
10: Cesare Borgia - The Borgias
THIS. GUY! AURGH!! Arrogant, violent, sexy bastard. You piece of shit. Cesare actually did everything wrong, he doesn't want to be redeemed. But he is so fucking charismatic and I love that he uses it to his advantage. He's so fucking smart and quick on his feet. He's SUCH an asset on the battlefield. And he LOVES his family! He will kill a bitch with his bare hands if they dare insult his mother or sister. I love that he grumbles when given advice from literally anyone that isn't his most trusted friend, bodyguard, and assassin, Micheletto. Doesn't even flinch when he discovers Micheletto is gay, actually teases him for being a momma's boy, and genuinely grieves for his loss when he flees. He says out loud how he misses him and actually begins to doubt himself without Micheletto there to counsel him. Cesare is everything to me, actually.
tagging, no pressure!: @rainy-days-and-nights @the-cloudy-dreamer @kemurai6-dominion-of-dust @ferelden-loser @teejaystumbles @tj-dragonblade @hardly-an-escape @sutoribenda @quillingwords @mathomhouse-e
#woo okay#this was kind of difficult because i usually always have multiple blorbos per show lol#choosing only one from each was a struggle haha#thank you guys!#tag game
