Do you think Jyn and Maarva would like each other?
tl;dr: no <3
I don't think Jyn would get along with maarva as she is a source of Cassian's issues with self-worth and guilt, similar to how Saw is a source for her fear of abandonment. Maarva doesn't even like her own son so who knows who's good enough for her lol.
a long rant below the cut
Jyn being someone who knows exactly what it’s like to be adopted and re-abandoned, her seeing Cassian's mother be consistently disappointed in her drugged n kidnapped adopted son is a whole other level of fucked up parental issues. Maarva opting to be with her her town instead of Cassian in her last days and also disbanding his actual family, it would be very difficult for someone like Jyn to see past these actions.
There's also no real justification for Maarva's treatment of Cassian (because he doesn't do his capitalist ferrix job? because he brings girls home? because he still lives with her even though he takes care of her?). AND even after her death, the last thing she wants him to remember was ā€œhey, you’re a big fuck up, but that’s okay <3ā€.
Maarva has done nothing but live her life from her fuckass couch and yet had the audacity to tell Cassian that he needs to stand up, that he needs to rebel or get a job. Even after when he fought back and went to child prison after seeing his adopted father hanged. So not only did you get ripped away from your parents, but also the person that supposedly chose you felt like they got more than they bargained for, Cassian therefore feeling ultimately undesired by both the biological and adopted family.
But being a parent is complicated, is she at fault?
Compare it to Saw abandoning Jyn. When Jyn grew older he was forced to choose between his daughter and his life's mission. Abandoning her is, without argument, fucked up. While it created irreparable damage, we can understand why he did it. Not only was it traumatizing for Jyn, but it was THE ultimate sacrifice he was making from himself. The thing that shifts some blame away is that it gutted him to do this, and he did it from a place making sure she was safe and alive.
So with this in mind, what is Maarva’s sacrifice in being constantly disappointed in your adopted son because he isn’t like everyone else? What does she gain when she tells him to forget about Kenari, that there’s nothing left? Imagine being adopted, being told as an adult that, no, you can’t be looking for your biological family and that they’re nothing now, and that even trying is useless. The only thing I can see is that she just wants Cassian to fit her image of an ideal Ferrix citizen, which isn't amazing and isn't enough to justify her actions.
Moreover, as someone who has lost a parent, the last moments you have with them hold a permanent memory that weigh differently than everything else, and imo require its own sort of grief. On Maarva's last days, she made him leave without her, even when she knew she was going to die by not taking her meds. She would rather spend her last days being memorialized as a hero on Ferrix than being with her only son. And at the end of your days, you want to go home. You want to be with family for as long as possible. For Maarva, home was Ferrix and everyone else there, not Cassian.
So Maarva sucks because she was a terrible mother at the benefit of literally nothing. Where Saw was the insurgent leader of the extremist cell that made major attacks against the empire; and not the best father largely because of his life's work but also still wanting to do his best to keep his daughter safe. But look who gets more villainized than anybody else and who is more celebrated as a hero?
On a tangent now, I believe Jyn and Maarva would be comparable to Cassian and Saw's relationship: you don't feel all warm and fuzzy inside meeting the [person you care about]'s greatest source of trauma.
All that Cassian knows about him is that he adopted her, then abandoned her. Upon seeing him on Jedha he almost draws a gun to protect Jyn (doing that before THE guy, THE supposed terrorist and Empire's most wanted, mind you), unsure where their relationship stands. Saw of course, would protect his daughter in turn, not knowing who this guy is.
I would believe Jyn would see Maarva in a similar light on a dramatically smaller scale. That "I hate my MIL and our interests are only mutually aligned around what's best for Cassian", but of course what that means is totally different things. Maarva sees Cassian and believes he needs to change. Even when she’s fucking dead he still needs for things to come together in order to be unstoppable, or whatever vision she had in mind for him and that him on his own is not enough.
And so the rest of this is how I interpret the implications for Rogue One: that the lessons both Jyn and Cassian took from their adopted parents can be mutually shattered as they see each other for who they are and not what they've been molded to believe.
As we know with Jyn, she has a complex moral code. When she sees a stormtrooper she feels the reflex to kill. When she sees a war-torn child, her reaction is to risk her own life to save innocents. And this is what she continues to do when she meets Cassian. She has every reason to shoot him and steal his ship. But on Jedha, seeing him agreeing with her that she was perhaps worth saving after her deed of saving the child, she sees him in return when he shoots the partisan. They see each other for their actions, for the better parts of each other, despite their words and even their own personal doubts. Jyn continues to risk her life for him over and over again and vice versa. She doesn’t want to change him at all and she inspires him to fight in ways he perhaps has forgotten or never knew was possible.
In fact, the reason she’s angry with him on Eadu is because he lied to her. Revealing the intention to kill someone’s dad easily put your anger in the right, but while she is mixed up with grief, the bigger part of her knows he was incapable of doing it and doesn’t revel in the fact of who he could’ve been if he killed her father or even combined with terrible things he's done, but just sees the present man that didn't and instead came back for her. Even Cassian is thinking how she was going to kill him for it, when he hadn’t even committed the crime. He’s caught up with the impression and perception of the kind of man he is, the narrative that he’s been fed his whole life that he’s committed atrocities that deem him unworthy.
Jyn and Cassian offer each other a break from narratives and reputations that they've tried to sound out their whole lives. And although both characters have a lot of integrity, being told the same thing over again through life lessons, you begin to believe it yourself. It's where we meet the two of them at their lowest points. That for Jyn, she wasn't someone worth returning to, that there isn't hope amongst war. And for Cassian, that he's not a good person for things he's done, that war is endless, and he has to follow orders or do things for others in order to belong. As the events of Rogue One unfold, we can see how they come to understand each other. They create a bond by feeling seen for the first time.
IN SUMMARY:
Maarva is like the exact opposite of Saw Gerrera in all the worst fucking ways, I tell you. Instead of being family friends with and saving the child that he later abandons, she kidnaps the child away from their actual family and then holds them hostage on her planet to force-assimilate and take care of her in her old age. And instead of actively rebelling through extremist insurgencies, she sits around and berates her son to go be a rebel, and yet disappointed that he doesn't have a job or doesn't do what everybody else does(?).
Jyn would hate that bitch like. Every Life Day would be an ordeal. The irony of how she fucking dies doing nothing when Saw Gerrera is barely held together by oxygen tubes and yet outlives this couch potato. Andors versus Erso-Gerreras it's first-planet problems versus outer rim problems. Yeah they're both traumatic but the biggest difference is one of these is entirely avoidable if you just weren't a piece of shit.

Danny is the Crazy Old Manā„¢ļø of Gotham
So, the events of Danny Phantom happened decades ago
Like, Phantom Planet was one of the first instances of Superheroes in HISTORY. Early 1900's, just the Fentons were Insanely Ahead of their Time!
Danny is still a Halfa, but has allowed himself to grow old and live his best life before fully dying so he can accept his Throne in the Infinite Realms. He decides to experience Life in the fullest way possible, partying, drinking, making long lasting friendships that shape the lives of everybody he meets, all that!
Eventually, Danny's Party Life leads him to Gotham. And this place is just amazing!
It has all the comforts of Home, with so much more! He can Party! He can Fight! He can do anything he wants and nobody bats an eye, because a crazy old man getting into a fistfight in the middle of the road is just another Tuesday for Gotham!
He decides to spend the rest of his Mortal Life there. And this is still Early On in the DC Timeline, like, Batman Year 1 is happening Right Now.
He hangs around, befriends the local Homeless Population, and mostly just has the time of his Life! And he takes up the stereotypical Homeless Old Man look because why fight it? That's literally what he's going for!
He also unintentionally sets up a bunch of future events
He teaches Kid!Jason on his to steal Tires as repayment for driving off some muggers with a Baseball Bat (honestly he was looking forward to being mugged, it's a new experience after all)
He pulls Kid!Tim into an Alley after Tim gets caught out at night and gets chased by some Punks. He hides Tim behind a Dumpster and tricks the Punks into mugging him instead (Yay! He finally got mugged!)
He becomes kind of well known as the Old Man who wants to experience everything before he dies. He says as much too, not like he really has a reason to hide it. He just tells people "I want to live my life to the fullest, it don't matter if I live 10 more years or 10 more minutes, I'm gonna experience every second of it!"
He once walked into a Cloud of Fear Gas to see what it was like. Later he said it was a 6/10. "Not the worst thing I've had injected into my body!" He says with no Context.
He traded places with a Hostage during an active Crime Scene because he wanted to know what it's like.
He was once dared to take Batmans Utility Belt by another Homeless Guy as a joke, so he walked up to Batman later that night in full view of everybody else and just asked for his Belt. He gives up after a few minutes, and one guy asked "Why not fight him for it? It's an experience after all.". Danny replys "Nah, I've fought Vigilantes before. It was fun though, gotta say!"
...
This got away from me, but all this to say: Imagine the Bat Families Reaction when they find out "Crazy Old Danny" is PHANTOM. You know, THE FIRST SUPERHERO!
I imagine Constantine is having a stroll though Gotham after finishing up some business with Bruce, and just bumps into a homeless guy by accident.
Later that night:
Batman: Constantine, Why are you calling? Is it to do with the-
Constantine: Why the fuck is there a Homeless God in your City?
Batman: Wait wha-
...
Or imagine they know before Constantine meets him, and it goes instead like this
Constantine: Why the fuck is there a Homeless God in your City?!
Batman: You mean Old Man Danny? He's just a homeless guy? What do you mean?
Constantine: I swear on what's left of my Soul, that is a God.
Batman, a little shit: I don't think so, I would know (fully knows)

Need a fic with Ekko and jinx secretly dating during the timeskip between powder being taken in by Silco and Vi coming back. The funny part being that Jinx and Ekko think they’re being Sneaky but Silco has known Literally The Whole Time. To be fair, nobody else knows minus probably Scar and Sevika took awhile to figure it out.
I think it’d be very funny if their fights against each other only seem serious but between them it’s basically a choreographed dance of ā€œI need to look like I’m trying to kill you while still letting you liveā€ and half their free time together is spent choreographing this shit. They enjoy it tho and it’s usually based on how their ACTUAL spars go (because you cannot tell me that they’d never fight each other. They would, but it’d be over petty shit or just to one up each other. Like, it starts as a joke of ā€˜I could literally just throw you’ as prior to this they were competing with weaponry and inventions but after they actually start working out and learning to fight Specifically to one up each other.) I also just think it’d be incredibly funny to see them making heart eyes at each other mid fight while Silco is sighing in the corner and Sevika is staring in disbelief as things start clicking into place for her.
I also just think it’d be very bittersweet. Like, Jinx loves Ekko but she also loves Silco a lot because that’s basically her father figure. Ekko cares about Jinx enough to stick around but also can’t deny the shit she and Silco have done (even if like half of it was probably provoked by the firelights because they hate Silco for some reason or another). So the entire time they’re in this weird, fucked up place and Ekko’s regretting his decisions but also looking at jinx like ā€œwell, I couldn’t just ABANDON her??!ā€ They both have a lot of regrets and hardship and most of their relationship is probably just taking solace in each other despite being on opposite sides because despite everything, they are the only ones who haven’t left after all this time. I think it’d be cool to see Ekko get some perspective into Jinx’s situation and potentially have Jinx do things behind the scenes to help the firelights (sabotaging certain plans, inventing things to help the quality of life, etc.) while getting Ekko’s side of things (and potentially letting him be kinda childish with her??) they are both very aware that their relationship is really weird and that if anyone finds out they’d probably be dead but they can’t bring themselves to separate either. Again, Silco watches and heaves a BIG sigh.
On a more lighthearted note, imagine when Vi gets back. Like, all that shit is just posturing (except maybe when Ekko is talking privately with Vi? Idk, I think he would def try to let her know that she is DEFINITELY a different person than who powder once was but idk if he’d agree with the ā€˜I’m sure powder is still in there’ spiel. Because he loves her a lot and knows her more intimately than anyone else but also acknowledges that jinx and powder are practically two different people. They are similar in certain ways but FAR from the same and even if he loves every side of her it’s not a guarantee that Vi will.)
Also imagine when she finds out. Like, ā€œyou had all that shit planned?!? We almost died!! What the FUCK!ā€ With the added bonus of whenever she realizes her childhood friend is dating her sister. I imagine eventually she’d be fine with the choice bc Ekko will 100% treat her right but also that will not stop her from initially trying to beat his ass.

How murderous is Karkat and Eridan?
Eridan: "killin is all i evver done practically the ocean wwas my killing cauldron"
Karkat: loves his friends so much that it hurts
They're both really blasƩ about killing things like imps or game enemies, and neither of them WANT to hurt their friends. Eridan's just more used to it because it was his whole job, and he's a lot better at fighting than Karkat is.
Vriska at one point says to John that her bodycount is probably "many thousands," so we can probably use that as a reference and assume Eridan's in that same bracket, because he and Vriska have a lot of parallels. In fact, I'd go so far as to call Vriska and Eridan a literary device called "parallel characters" - by listening to Vriska tell John about her feelings about her bodycount and of her place in society, we get to learn about how Eridan's feeling, too.
If we set the bar at 3000 (the low end of "many thousands") and Vriska and Eridan are both the equivalent of 13 years old, or a little less than 700 weeks, that meant he and Vriska were averaging out to multiple kills a week (and given they probably didn't start when they were newhatches and 3000 is a low estimate, like... it was probably an insane number like 5-7 kills/week). But never anyone they "cared about," in Vriska's words, until the Team Charge debacle, or Eridan went berserk on Feferi and Sollux (we should also keep in mind that Eridan outright says to Kanaya that he doesn't want to kill people he considers his friends).
But Eridan is significantly less emotionally intelligent than Vriska (a fucking feat), has less of a support system, and has a lot of Duty and Responsibility and Fate of the Species on his shoulders, so he copes a lot worse (again, a fucking feat). For Eridan, it's less about "being murderous," and more about "society demands that I be murderous" + "if I am not murderous, everybody dies" + "when I grow up, murder is my only viable career path".
He's ANXIOUS AS FUCK at his core. Via their parallel character status, we know from Vriska that they're both actually really nervous about growing up and taking their place in a society that demands bloodshed from them. When Eridan obsesses over genocide, it's a byproduct of Literally Being The Guy That Is Preventing Genocide (to the point of not really having other hobbies). We also know that he feels guilt towards his victims (or at least more than Feferi), which we know from Vriska is societally unacceptible. And if it's unacceptible for her to feel bad, then imagine how much less okay it is for the sea dweller.
So I wouldn't necessarily call Eridan murderous - like with most things regarding Eridan, it's more complicated than that - but I would call him "on a hair trigger", "conditioned to reach towards murder as an early solution," and "obsessively/anxiously trying to live up to how murderous society demands he be," all while not at all wanting to kill people he cares about. I think it's really important to note that, even though the higher the blood the more volatile the troll, and despite being unauspiced and unmoirailled, and without relying on sopor, Eridan did not start shooting to kill until Sollux and Feferi escalated the situation.
And before anyone mentions that Feferi's in the same boat, she spends practically the whole time with Sollux, who is foreshadowed to be her moirail.
Like, the tragedy of Eridan's character is that he's lonely and terrified, but does such a good job at putting up an obnoxious front that even a lot of the audience became convinced that he basically sucked and his problems didn't matter. His dumbass plan to go to Jack was a genuine attempt to save Feferi, the person he cared most about.
If you go back and look at that conversation, Eridan's casual casteist threats aren't genuine (see my pinned Eridan essay for details) - and SOLLUX is the one who says "I should have killed you when I had the chance". And Eridan DOESN'T KILL SOLLUX, because this whole time, Eridan has not wanted to kill his friends. It's not until Feferi - the person he cares most about, the one whom he concocted that suicidal mission in order to save - turns on him in agreement that Sollux should've killed him - that makes Eridan finally lose it.
Meanwhile, Karkat just loves his friends. He loves them so fucking much. I think this is pretty well-documented about him? He's got no qualms about murdering game constructs like imps and the black king, but he feels deeply fucking hurt and betrayed by Bec Noir since he bonded with Jack/Spades Slick. I don't think Karkat ever makes a genuine death threat against anybody but past!Eridan, but he and Eridan are heavily foreshadowed to be moirails, and that conversation has a hilarious bit in the middle where Karkat seemingly forgets that he's mad at the guy and just starts telling him he's a dumbass. Later on, he expresses missing his dead friends, including/especially the assholes, in the same segment as the meteor runs into dead Feferi and Eridan, so I think that that was more an angry outburst than a genuine desire to see Eridan dead.
In fact, even though he's basically shown nothing but scorn for Gamzee and Gamzee's religious beliefs and clown-ness, and even after Gamzee murders two people and seems to be trying to murder them all, Karkat can't bring himself to kill or even fight the guy, just shooshpap him down, later ranting that Gamzee was a lovable bullshit clown that he liked a lot, and (one of) his best friend(s).
So they're both in this boat of not wanting to kill their friends, but feeling societally pressured into grandstanding that they're TOTALLY murderous assholes just trust me - but Eridan was in a position where he was forced to do it at the detriment of any other hobbies, or else everybody died, and is also one of the best fighters on the team, if not THE best. Thus, the fact that it's a viable option is not only near the forefront of his mind at all times, but he has the skills to resort to it. I guess technically, that does make him more murderous, but it's also, like... any normal person in his situation would wind up the same way, honestly.

HEHEHHWHEE imagine the bau team hunting down a serial killer not knowing its their OWN PARTNERRRR imma use hotch as an example cuz dilf😫😫😩😩😩
no real warnings tbh just that reader is a serial killer
i think that he would literally never ever guess it was you. this unsub has been taunting the team, they'd get close and then, the MOMENT they think they're getting close... you're gone (kinda). cuz technically you're still around yk. you're going on dates with aaron, taking care of jack during emergencies, etc. but your serial killer hobbies are in hiatus.
aaron would talk about it with you too. he knows he's not supposed to tell you about the case, but sometimes he gets so frustrated with the case and you lend him an ear yk.
you hide it well, but every time he talks to you about the case. you feel giddy knowing how well you've stumped the great bau.
aaron would never suspect you. you're a great partner, a great parent, he loves you. i mean, every night he holds you talking about how much he loves you. you're the sunshine on his rainy day. all of this distracts you, keeps you on haitus for a long time maybe even permenantly. he tells you that he's planning on quitting the bau. that lets you relax, truly putting your hobbies to rest.
"i think i'm going to take the offer..." aaron says, leaning against the counter, watching you cook dinner.
"hmm? which offer?" you look over at him, in his tight shirt and baggy pants.
"to resign." he laughs and pushing his hair back with one hand. "i want to be here... with you and jack. i want to focus on being a father... and a husband." he looks away and you smile at his bashfulness.
"i'm happy with whatever decision you chose to make, aaron. you're stuck with me."
then he proposes, you're elated. every thing is perfect. you have an amazing fiance, an amazing (almost) step-son. the entire bau is there when he proposes. every single thing is perfect... except that aaron isn't quitting. he's staying at the bau with them. he's staying with them. even after he promised you that he'd quit.
"you told me... you told me that you'd quit." you pace around the living room.
"i know. i'm sorry, but the team needs me." aaron looks at you, eyes filled with guilt.
"we need you, aaron! me and jack! we need you." you feel tears roll down your cheeks.
"(y/n)..." he tries to reach out to you and you back away. he stops, hurt.
"i need some air." you leave, kissing jack good-bye.
you were gone for a week, and in that week, two people had died.
"something on your mind, aaron?" rossi put a hand on his shoulder. aaron sat in his office, staring at the picture of the three of you on a picnic.
"i'm not sure... since (y/n)'s been gone, two people have died and... i noticed this last time too." aaron puts his head in his hands.
"what do you mean?" rossi sits down.
"i-i'm not sure. last time too, we had a fight and they left and- and people died." the dots start to connect, but rossi shakes his head.
"aaron, you don't really think-"
"no. no, i'm sure i'm just imagining it."
"i think you should listen to strauss. the stress from scratch, the new unsub, everything..." rossi trails off.
"i know... i know, i'll think about it."
of course, aaron calls your parents and they say you've been with them the entire time. so he lets it go, but it stays on his mind even when you were back. you'd be sleeping in the same bed and he'd look at you and wonder... could you be a killer? but you'd pull him into a kiss and he'd fall for your warmth once more. you knew he had his suspicions, rossi told you himself. he said he was "worried" that you should "convince him to resign. it'll be good for the both of you". and you did just that. you moved up the wedding, you sent out the invitations, you did everything to distract him from his suspicions and work.
when you walk down the aisle, you see all his suspicions melt as tears fall from his eyes. you feel a grin creep up your face, you did it. you had him for yourself.
"i, aaron hotchner, take (y/n) to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part"

A simpler question for you I think, which might’ve been asked to you before but:
What are you’re personal favorites in relationships/pairings. From romantic to platonic to familial, any of your choice
I'm going to assume that specifically from Greek Mythology
Ares and Aphrodite (Lovers): Ah the legendary OTP for over threeeeeee thousand years! Give it up for Ares and Aphrodite!...Okay! Serious time, Ares and Aphrodite are such an endearing couple because you think, "Oh jeez Aphrodite? Couldn't you get with Apollo or something?" only for it to turn out that Aphrodite is the more dangerous one. They bring out the best in each other and it makes Aphrodite less of a...vanity case and Ares a chance to not be so angry...plus they literally inspire some of the greatest works of art of all time.
Eros II and Psyche: Greek Mythology is like...really short on compelling love stories that hold up in a modern context with most built on...various things. BUT Eros II and Psyche (mostly) holds up. Eros II and Psyche have a compelling love story with Eros II having to protect Psyche from Aphrodite while Psyche is just glad to be seen as a person by someone, even if it's an invisible monster.
And when the truth gets revealed seeing Psyche be one of the few mortals to anger Aphrodite and live by triumphing over her tasks is compelling and seeing Eros II rescue Psyche is just adorable! Plus when they get married and have a kid they produce one of the few notable 4th Generation Olympians in Hedone which is nice. (Probably might note any notable 4th Generation Olympians for the fun of it).
Odysseus and Penelope (Epic): Alright I'm marking Epic specifically because while OG OdyPen definitely loved each other...listening to 'IWFIYWYA' and him surviving that 'Ship of Theseus of Dubious Sexual Consent' that is Calypso's Island unscathed for nearly 7 years means I gotta make it specific. Cause every other song is about how Odysseus being away from Penelope is like being Tantalus in the underworld and I cheered whenever he got one step closer to his home! Plus as a bonus his love for Penelope is so strong he even shanked Poseidon giving him another multimedia asskicking! Which is always nice.(7 more and we'll get a trope)
Apollo and Daphne:...I just wanted to make fun of Apollo some more until the precise moment one of my mutuals tells me it's getting old.
Athena and Pallas (as friends, friends to lovers at most): Athena ironically enough doesn't have many friends. She has people she just happens to fight with or be on the same side or page but Pallas was probably Athena's few notable friends. She's also notable in she's one of the few other divine beings to get the upper hand on Athena which is something she would've respected...if Zeus wasn't a dick and caused Pallas's death leaving her to take her name in honor of her friend (possible lover?).
Hopefully we get stories with these two as friends cause they're cute together (platonic or otherwise, plus as a bonus it's one of the few times in Greek mythology that can vaguely be coded as wlw queer).
Ares and Aphrodite and their children (familial): Yeah an understated topic is that Ares might wage war like it's going out of style and Aphrodite might be vain to the point of borderline insanity but...they REALLY love their children. Like it is difficult to find a story where they are anything other than supportive, loving, and protective of their spawn with highlights being Ares avenging his assaulted daughter, encouraging Phobos and Deimos as they pelt Typhon with Thunder and Lightning, and letting his newborn son drink the breast milk of his dead mom that died during childbirth.
Didn't forget about Aphrodite though! Special shout out goes to arranging Eros II and Psyche's wedding, generally doting on him, allowing Phobos and Deimos to fight against their father with the Erotes during the Dionysiaca War (I imagine Ares was proud of them), and protecting her demi-god son during the Trojan War and making Diomedes of Argos pay for daring to attempt to touch him. In short you can argue with their domains or how they go about them, but NEVER question their parenting skills.
Ares and Athena (familial): Alright I know I've kind of shit on the Iliad for it's depiction of Ares but what really saddens me is how it depicts Ares's and Athena's relationship. These are two Gods who are the Prime Movers of all violence, organized and chaotic, who seem like they should be the ultimate brother-sister duo that makes Apollo and Artemis look like Cain and Abel. But instead it sours people's perception of them that make it seem like they hate each other.
When in actually Athena loves the work of her brother and Ares loves her work in kind, whenever Heracles or Troy isn't involved nothing suggests that they aren't the ultimate brother-sister duo and I wish we got more of that...and I wish Greek Mythology fandom could get it's nose out of the fucking Iliad (sorry! tangent!).
Alright that covers Greek Mythology with honorable mentions going to Ares/Enyo (I wish more people knew about Enyo) and Hades/Persephone (It...can be sweet but not when it makes Demeter a sacrificial lamb and confronts the Elephant in the room).

sort of in response to that one ask about doll not being 'uzi if she never met n.'
both her and uzi were changed through grief and disconnect from their peers even if it showed in different ways. both of them have themes of loneliness & both of them have an intense festering hatred that fuels their motivations.
the difference between them is that through the connections that uzi formed after being forced into a situation where she had to open up, she deterred herself from the path she was slowly going down.
like her quote en quote villain arc was stopped before it started because of the connection she formed with N but doll never had that.
doll refused to form connections despite the chances she was given because it happened too late. her anger festered for so long that she wasn't able to make a comeback. her hubris was her downfall. she became the very thing she sought to destroy.
the point of promening and her 'hypocritical murder plan' was that she was so blinded by her anger and hatred, she didn't really think too far about the logics of her plan; she probably fantasized killing v and then took the first chance she could to actually do it.
she has some kind of tunnel vision, focusing on her goals until she's gotten them; no matter the cost, no matter who or what she has to get through. (another similarity between her and uzi, imo.)
Uzi basically stated "hey we should stop fighting cause there's bigger shit at play and we can deal with it better if we team up" and Doll responded with "No I can do this on my own also die"
sort of. imagine you spend years upon years seething and imagining ways you're going to kill this sky demon that killed your parents in front of you and lead to the activation of a virus that has plagued you for years since that point. you have to actively kill and eat people from a young age & you are alone in your struggles; presumably the singular person who is aware of them finds your trauma humorous to an extent, and even if she sticks by your side, you feel like she doesn't really get it. i reiterate; you are alone in your struggles.
one day, you finally get your chance. you fantasize this moment for years, to the point where it becomes the only plausible solution to your problems. you don't plan it out thoroughly, because you know the universe will deal its hand correctly and allow you catharsis after years of festering that hatred. it finally happens. you have her in your sights, you have her pinned, she knows who you are now and you're about to kill her, to inflict all the pain on her you have wanted to for years; no matter who may have gotten in your way, you will have this, it's all you want, its all you HAVE wanted.
and then someone stops you. she tells you some things that if you were in a clearer mind, you would have thought deeper about, but you're so fucking angry right now and you want her to get out of the way. you don't listen.
you fight. you lose. you come back.
she has the same virus as you. you're not alone anymore. and that's when the conflicting feelings start. but despite that start, they never quite come to any meaningful conclusion because you have more important things to do. perhaps she inspired you a little to understand that the fate of the planet is more important than your fantasy for revenge, but you're so set in your ways you can't quite admit it yet. and again; when you get that chance again, to enact revenge, you take it.
and in the end, it ruined her & she died. she died as she lived; alone.
essentially, 'doll is uzi if she never met n' doesn't mean that exactly; it means doll is uzi if she never formed meaningful connections. the friends she had in school don't count in my eyes. literally the very first proper interaction we see between her and lizzy is lizzy playing doll's traumatic experience off as a joke. no hate towards lizzy also just to specify i love them as friends i just don't think it is on the same level of healthy as n and uzis friendship is?
okay.. i can't add any more to this it's so fucking long also it's 1 am GOODNIGHT i hope this doesn't look weird or aggressive

i am so fucking tired of this post, this is my third time writing it because my tumbkr tab keeps reloading when im inactive on it for likw. 2 minutes. and it never saves as a draft.
there will be some typos because im tired
but yeah ill be talking about a song that reminds me of vic because im normal
wooooooooo time to break down every vic core line
Keeping Secrets (Fit For A King)
Is there a way out A way out from the let-down I'm living in? Some refuge from the cloud I'm under
vic's pov. like. "when will i ever stop being tortured. when will you (Alan) finally let death be permanent. is that even possible.
Living in lies, what I am is never good enough
however much they try to fight back or escape, they cant. Alqn is more powerful and they are tiny.
There's no hope if I give them nothing
eventually vic just stops responding. they do nothing. (yes yes i know this would be out of order timeline wise shoot me)
And now I'm dead in the water
fhis one is quite literal, considering they were drowned at least once.
I'm afraid it's too late to change
i can imagine at some point victim believes that maybe under the right circumstances things could work out. that maybe if they just survived long enough they could talk it out or something. maybe Alan is capable of more that jsut cruelty. they eventually stop desperately clinging to this idea, tjough. it isn't helping them.
You're the pin, I'm the hand grenade
THIS. THIS LINE MAKES ME SO INSANE. like. likw. vic was Alan's release. any pent up emotions could be thrown at this stick figure, instead of being violent or lashing out at "real people."
victim's the pin, Alan's the hand grenade
How can words of hope hold weight When I can't believe when I tell them to myself?
we saw one of mitsi's lil notes saying to have a good day, so i can imagine that its really hard for vic to keep mitsi's level of positivity, ESPECIALLY now that she's gone.
I can't feel heart through the violence
im tired and dont know how to explain it but this is a very vic core line okay
But I'm coping with the feeling of your disappointment
vic knows mitsi wouldn't want them to do all this. xe would not want these terrible violent acts done in xyr name. and vic doesn't know how to feel about that. what to think about what she'd say.
im skipping chorus 2 because theres still another one and going over both would be redundant
Now the cold hard truth I'm miserable and panicked now
victim going through Agent's memories to find mitsi's death. i know we're supposed to be talking about vic right now but there was something about how fucking defeated Agent looked after mitsi died that just. ough this man makes me want to cry
I thought that I could numb the pain But I'm just losing myself again
that right there is just victim in a sentence. they were getting better, they were moving on. but now that the one helping them is gone, they've gotten so much worse, arguably worse than before Mitsi. they're violent with disregard for others' lives, spiralling.
And now I'm dead in the water
this time it's more metaphorical. they're obviously not dead, no, but they lost so much of thesmelf when Mitsi died.
I'm afraid it's too late to change
this is where the roles change. it's too late for VICTIM to change. they've gone in so deep, done so much that in their mind, healing and moving on isn't even an option anymore.
It's like I've held up a gun to everyone that I love
this is another one that im not sure how to explain but this is vic.
You're the pin, I'm the hand grenade
i imagine victim was always one step away from a revenge quest. Mitsi just kept them said step back. she helped them heal, to find ways of dealing with trauma that arent just sitting there drowning in it. she ALSO probably offered some kind of release for any kind of emotion, they could tell her anything. she is the reason that victim didn't do this sooner. but now that xe's gone, they have no one holding them back from all this.
mitsi was the pin, victim's the hand grenade. and you know what happens when you take the pin out.
in trying to take revenge on Alan, they are now no better than him.
ANYGAYS THERE YA GO. JUST UHHHHHH THINK ABOUT IT.
heres the song, i do recommend listening to it even if its just for this to make more sense.

Then I guess you're a better person than me, Gojo!!
Because I hate Gege Akutami and I'm *very* angry on your behalf 😃 I’m (sort of) kidding but damn... thoughts on 236 below the cut!!
I held off posting earlier because I felt like going scorched earth on everything jjk. I took some time to clear up some of the translations I wasn't sure about and let the reality sink in, and now I'm ready to talk about this chapter rationally lol.
Firstly, I wanna say that my issue with this chapter isn’t Gojo dying or even the way that he died. I always knew that Gojo dying was likely, but here?? Now???? I've spent all day turning it over in my mind and trying to make it work, but it just won't.
I think Gojo's 'delusion' (daydream? afterlife?) is really beautiful in isolation. Some of the dialogue is really touching and I think it'll benefit from the emotional impact delivered by the full translations. The problem is what follows.
After 235, people were nervous that Gojo hadn't actually won yet. I waited to see what some trusted translators thought of the editor's comment before deciding it was a conclusive win for Gojo, and what I read reassured me that the win would remain intact even if he died at some point over the course of December 24.
In the past couple of chapters, we were told that Sukuna was 'nervous' for the first time in 1000 years and he thought Hollow Purple at close range would be fatal. At the end of 235, Sukuna is looking pretty terrible while Gojo looks fresh as a daisy after fighting in inspiring, inventive ways throughout.
So to find out that, actually, he *hasn't* won and he's been killed by getting cut in half offscreen feels like shock value for the sake of shock value. There have been a few 'shock factor' moments during this fight and they've always bothered me a little, but I could excuse them for the sake of hype building in a weekly manga. However, I never anticipated anything on this level and I'm genuinely so disappointed.
I think this long-awaited fight ending this way cheapens Gojo's character *and* Sukuna's character (and Kashimo's character for that matter!), and ultimately makes the entire thing feel meaningless. 'Meaning' is the thread that has run through Gojo's entire arc, tying him back to Suguru as he sought to build a better world. I always felt certain that Gojo's life and death would have meaning, even if it ended tragically, but I just can't find the meaning in this. I think I understand what Gege was trying to do, but he really didn't sell it for me.
There’s nothing worse than when a story makes you feel stupid for getting invested, and that’s how I’m feeling right now. I find myself wondering, what was the point in bringing Gojo back at all??? Keep him in the box and very little changes in the story, unless it transpires that Gojo 'weakening' Sukuna for the students was his grand purpose after all which... really??
Even worse, I *always* said if it was between Gojo and the students, I wanted Gojo to die. Since 212, getting Megumi back has been my number one priority, but 236 has achieved what I previously thought impossible. I literally don't even want Megumi to come back anymore, because I just can't imagine how he could live with himself after 'killing' Tsumiki and Gojo. It seems kinder for him to die with Sukuna and I *never* thought I would say that.
I'm feeling like a real clown for the meta I posted after 235. I want to take it down because I was so certain that Gojo had won, but I won't because I don't believe my reading of Gojo's character was wrong. I just think my expectations were too high, even though I tried hard to temper them. Even so, telling Megumi about Toji being left to Shoko? Gojo losing and leaving his students to clean up the mess again?? Gojo not even *mentioning* his students in his dying daydream???
It all just feels wrong. Gojo has been turned into nothing more than a plot device at the absolute last second, and maybe it's on me for ever expecting that he would be anything more than that in a series where he isn't the main character, but why bother writing Hidden Inventory then? Why bother getting us invested in this man's story at all?
Right now, I'm feeling like I don't even want to watch tomorrow's episode, but I am interested to see whether Gege can pull this arc off in the long term. I've seen people talking about resurrection theories because of the enlightenment hints and, while I do see the vision, I think Gojo's acceptance of his death and letting go of his regrets can also be read as enlightenment as he escapes the mortal coil once and for all.
Gojo's dying bloody smile shows he's at least happy in his final moments, so my feeling is that Gojo is truly dead and gone. I really want to trust that Gege will make this work, but damn. This is a tragedy.
(Although, if Gojo actually is at peace in death, maybe that's the reason Gege will bring him back. He'll *never* let that man be happy, I swear.)
To end on a positive note, the SatoSugu crumbs were beautiful and teenage Gojo's facial expressions were wonderful. I'm crying again just thinking about the contrast of that last adorable smile with his blank expression on the next page.
I'm dropping all my canonverse WIPs and working exclusively on AU fics for the foreseeable future 😤 I'm gonna give Gojo all the happy endings he deserves!!!
(fuck. poor poor shoko.)

an absurdist lens is SUCH a good one to use for bsd i feel like, seeing as how it came about because of the war and so many of bsd's characters were involved in the bsd great war.
what do you think of how the great war in bsd is written looking at it through an absurdist lens
(btw your analyses are so good and interesting i love reading them!!)
Ooh this is a really interesting ask! I'll admit that I don't know much about the great war, but war itself is such an inherently absurd concept. Like, you have some issue with another country/territory, so your conclusion is to start killing each other until one of the parties taps out? It's so weird when you think about it like this.
I think the best thing I can analyze with my current knowledge is Yosano's backstory. Because the soldiers Yosano treated were forced into this never-ending loop of horror and brutality, the war kept going and going, and I think this serves as a commentary on war and its absurdity.
Absurdist storytellers often exaggerate situations that already exist in our real world in order to bring to light just how ridiculous they are. For example, in Kafka's The Metamorphosis, Gregor Samsa wakes up as a gigantic bug, but is more concerned with the fact that he won't be able to attend work and provide for his family than finding an explanation for his circumstances. This is likely commentary on how our capitalist society forces workers to overlook their own physical wellbeing for the sake of attempting to live off of inadequate wages.
In a similar way, Asagiri does this with the concept of war, exaggerating it by forcing this group of soldiers and Yosano into this literal vicious cycle that traumatizes both parties time and time again. Living through the horror of war once is already bad enough, but imagine if you had to do it hundreds of times, wouldn't that be awful? A soldier that's been healed that many times over will have seen many more people die and killed more people than if they just died. Yosano as a nurse has to treat so, so many suffering people, and she's only like 11 at the time. And yet, isn't this what we're doing by forcing generation after generation to fight these wars because of the conflicts we keep making? It makes you question why the idea of a war even exists in the first place.
Even with the current arc we see it. The hunting dogs are military, and they're the villains! Yes, all of them but Fukuchi are misguided, but it's commentary about corruption in systems of power that are supposed to be protecting us. I'd also say Jouno and the satisfaction he derives from torture is probably some sort of commentary on police brutality. Hell, in the latest chapter, we're 30 seconds away from a nuclear warhead destroying Yokohama. If there's one thing that's completely absurd in our modern world, it's nuclear weapons that are literally world-ending.
Anyway! Anon! If you want to tell me more about the war, I'd be happy to try to analyse it based on what information you can give me, but also no pressure. I'm just worried I didn't really answer your question, but I did the best I could! I'm glad you enjoy my silly little rants :)

Be advised, before y'all send your angry asks, these are my opinions, angry opinions but that's all they are, you're free to have your own, that doesn't mean we have to fight about it. Different people will have different opinions. Let's all just enjoy the show we love.

Finally! My heart knows peace! Ughhg I've been so so pissed at the writers and Eddie for being such an absolute asshat to Shannon.
Eddie himself has never been present for Shannon. Literally or metaphorically. He left for his deployment a week after Christopher was born.
He left his newborn child and his wife alone, granted it was his job. But what if she had postpartum depression like Maddie? Even without that we see how hard it is to care for a newborn child as a couple when Chimney and Maddie had Jeeyun, even with Albert and Anne's help they were overwhelmed. Yes Shannon's mother and Eddie's father was there but Eddie was the father. Fine, let's leave that.
He wasn't there even Christopher was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Shannon raised her son alone, imagine how scared and broken she must have felt when he was diagnosed, we see how terrified Maddie was when Jeeyun had a fever. But the writers completely disregard anything when it comes to Shannon.
After Christopher was diagnosed, Eddie ran away by enlisting again when he was supposed to be coming home, which he himself admitted, without telling Shannon.
And that scene of him, refusing and asking her to soothe a crying baby Christopher while she's literally telling him he shouldn't be a fucking stranger to his own kid? He looks at her like it's a punishment, don't anybody dare say he was overwhelmed, she was way beyond overwhelmed and he was basically refusing to be a goddamm father to his own kid. As if it was her responsibility alone to take care of the child that she had WITH HIM.
Her mother was dying from cancer, fucking cancer and he didn't even try to comfort her, at all. When she asked him to leave, he used that his family was gathered to celebrate his return as a reason that they can't leave now, no he said it wouldn't look good so they shouldn't leave now, not even you go first we'll catch up, he didn't even want her to go, he just wanted her to stay and take care of Christopher and him while he can go be a hero. Her mother was dying from relapsing cancer and he didn't even care.
What on earth did he think was going to happen? Was he expecting Shannon to wait until her mom was dead?
He had some right to be upset when she left, some. But he had to have seen that coming with now dismissive he's been of her feelings, and that her mother was fucking dying and he didn't want to leave Texas so she can take care of her and he has the audacity to blame her for it.
The fact that he was never been there for her for Christopher's diagnosis of CP, or after, to comfort HER, imagine how hard that must have been on her, alone, her mother battling cancer on one side, her child have cerebral palsy on another side and her husband never being present? Can't imagine how family was very keen to console her with the way they speak of her even after Shannon's death.
I imagine Shannon's mother died in the two years she was gone from Eddie and Christopher's lives, if the show mentioned it directly I might have missed it. But the point is Shannon had to LEAVE her child with his father so he can FINALLY start being a FATHER, and she dealt with her mother's battle and succumbing to cancer, ALONE. With no one to turn to, she was an orphan, even when she had a so called husband and a son.
And when she comes back what does Eddie do? He tries to keep her away from seeing her child like she's the one who's done all the sins. He waited and she never came back and he's mad at her for it? Oh did it ever even occur to him that there's another option, that maybe he could, you know, visit her? Maybe? Would it have killed him to do so? Would his entire family die if he like VISITED, not even moved but visited her, ONCE? He was oh so ready to up and leave Texas to Los Angeles when it for him but not when Shannon HAD TO?
The DOUBLE STANDARD here is off the charts.
He only calls her when he needs her to admit Christopher to school, he never tried to contact her before that, he never TRIED ANYTHING, from his end to fix their relationship that he himself broke piece by piece by breaking Shannon piece by piece.
Don't even get me started on once she comes back, and gracefully does what is needed for Christopher, because she fucking loves her child. And is even willing to apologize to him for what she did when he's the only one who should be apologizing.
But no an apology is not enough for him, he keeps her away from Christopher, he makes her beg him to let her see her own child, he doesn't even have custody over him. He justifies it by saying she abandoned them both? Then what the fuck was it that Eddie did when he reenlisted the moment Christopher was diagnosed? He himself admits later to Buck I think that that was him running away. And yet be has the audacity to punish Shannon for it? When she's the only one who stayed the whole time? Before being forced to leave to care for her dying mother, alone because whiny Eddie doesn't want to leave Texas and his family, boohoo.
Eddie makes it all about Christopher, he sure loves to hear that he's a good father when in truth he didn't even know the first letter of the word before he forced Shannon to leave Christopher with him. Eddie only started being a father to him AFTER SHANNON LEFT.
Eddie then "somehow ends up with her in bed" every time they talk, oh yeah somehow and he doesn't know how it happened at all. But when Shannon thinks that this, him taking her to his bed each time is him finally stopping gatekeeping her from her own child, he has the audacity to the ask if SHE thinks it's a transaction, that she sleeps with him and he let's her see HER SON, I'm sorry sir what the fuck else would she think? When her husband suddenly starts bedding her, of course she thought he finally let her back into her own fucking marriage. But no he just wants the sex but he wants her to stay away from her son cause she deserves to be punished for her sins, which he has committed, ten folds.
But no she apologizes again. And he acts like he such a saint and it's a huge sacrifice that he's doing for his son when he FINALLY lets her see her son, that too only after Christopher asks, so no matter how long she kept begging him to let her see Christopher, he wouldn't have, but he sure would have loved to have sex with her the whole time. How is that not him taking advantage of his power over her, which is access to Christopher and using it to use her body. That's manipulation.
He loves Christopher, that's obvious, but it's also obvious that he doesn't even like Shannon but wants her body and wants her to always take care of Christopher and do nothing else ever.
He never once asked Shannon how she was feeling, he never once cared, to ask that. Not even when Christopher was diagnosed, not when her mother had a cancer relapse, not when she came back for Christopher's school after her mother's death, he didn't ask her anything about her at all, about how she was feeling, as a result of his actions. He asked her to vouche for the school admittance, that's it. He asked her to sneak out of his bed after having sex, by deceiving her, so that their son wouldn't see her, Christopher didn't even know she was in the same city as them. Eddie got his sex from her, that's it, now she should leave and not be seen by their son, he got what he wanted and that's all that matters to him. She should never expect anything back for it, she could never, even when she desparately needed him, he didn't give her anything, he abandoned her first, again and again, he expected her to be always a wife and a mother but he was never a husband to her, he wasn't even a father until she left, she was alone in her marriage, Shannon was a married single mom. What pisses me of more is that he used their son to do it, he used their son to punish her, and when she asked for a divorce because he's a fucking shitty, absent, negligent husband who won't give her anything other than sex, he had the gall to be offended and angry at her for it, even after she died.
Of course the writers killed her off, she's better off dead than being married to him.
In season 5 I think, he finally brings her up and the fact that he kept her away from their son, he says he thought did it to protect Christopher, cause he didn't want him to be hurt by his mom leaving again but she didn't want to leave, she wanted them to come with her but who said no to that? Oh no must be someone else. He continues saying that he was really doing it to protect himself? Seriously? I wanted to reach into the screen and bang his head against the table. If anyone needed protecting in their marriage it was Shannon, from his emotional negligence and later manipulation by using Christopher to use her body.
Don't get me started on his dating Ana, she was amazing, in general and to Christopher, and to Eddie, which he didn't deserve one bit. Some people find this storyline boring and I agree but that's not the point. He was so sweet to Ana, so caring to not overload her or overexpect from her, I don't remember which episode it was or what it was about but Eddie said something like I don't want to spring that on you or something that essentially translated to I don't want to ask you to do that cause you shouldn't have to and it wasn't even a big thing. Yes she was his new girlfriend and all but he has never showed even 5% of that care or concern for Shannon, he never had a problem expecting anything and everything from her. He settled with Ana cause she was taking care of Christopher and him, he wants a girl to take care of him, perform her womanly duties while he lounged and prided himself on how great a father he is.
I can't say the writers don't know how to write a healthy relationship either. Cause Chim and Maddie, Athena and Bobby? Especially Athena and Bobby, cause when Athena's father gets into that accident? Bobby drops everything to go with Athena to go visit and stay with her in her parents house and supports her, granted he was already packed and prepared to leave for the vacation, but he left a very well deserved vacation to go support not only Athena but also her parents in their time of need, even when Athena's mom being very rude. if Eddie had been in Bobby's place he not only would have not cared and thrown a tantrum over how he didn't want to leave his vacation but would've also tried to stop his wife from going to check on her parent at all. That is if Eddie hadn't already guilt tripped Shannon into distancing from her rude mother had she been anything like Athena's, he would have thrown an even bigger victim tantrum about how he didn't deserve it and deserved better, nevermind the dying parent.
So the writers do know how to write a healthy relationship, even one that has problems, the couples overcome them. Eddie was just an undeserving asshole to Shannon. Who deserved far far better than she ever got with Eddie. Christopher deserved his mother, not his father gatekeeping him from her while having sex with her and asking her to sneaking out like a thief.
He's never once shown to realize any of this, how this was all wrong, how much of a double standard he had been utilising, how shitty of a husband he was, how he basically ruined her life. He's shown to be the poor victim who was abandoned by his wife and had to raise his special son alone, nevermind this was of his own engineering from all the negligent husband moves he pulled. Yes he's the victim of course.

I think what I loved about "Tomb Patrol" more than anything is how Rita, Larry, Jane, and Cliff escaped the fate of the old Doom Patrol seen back in Season 1. They beat Mr. Nobody and kept their sanity intact. They also learned the truth of what Niles Caulder did to them and instead of becoming worthless and placed into a make believe retirement home, they survived and lived to eat his head and outlive the guy who was so obsessed with immortality and living one day longer than his daughter.
The old Doom Patrol seen in season one were just as aged as the one seen in "Tomb Patrol," only that team is utterly broken and can't even enjoy the time they have left if they wanted to. I wonder if Rita thought of the state of Mento and the others when she reached her geriatric state and started breaking down.
The biggest reason Rita wanted everybody to come to dinner is because Cliff, Larry, and Jane are quite literally her only family. They're all she has. Every person related to her is either dead or wouldn't believe that she's still alive, given she's a film star from the fifties. The most important part of the episode was Rita finally voicing that the Doom Patrol are all she has. They're her family and that one line suddenly makes her wanting to be the team leader and why it was so important to her all clear. She wanted to work to keep her family together after the death of Niles Caulder.
The moment with the four geriatric Doom Patrol members sitting in the living room, reminiscing about their adventures was the sweetest scene of the entire season. They forgot all about their problems and impending doom for just a few moments and simply enjoyed each others' company. They didn't become angry or confused or sad or broken like the Doom Patrol before them. They sat in the living room and shared a loving moment like a real family. Even when Rita collapsed, the other three agreed to go to the play for her sake. I loved Cliff's line when they make the decision to go: "We have to. It's Rita." For all of their dysfunction, once they saw that she was in real trouble, her fellow Doomies rushed to her aide and said, "Let's whoop some ass. For her." Those moments are what make a dysfunctional family worth rooting for. That no matter how much they may bicker and fight and disagree, they always find their way back to each other and look after each other when shit gets serious.
This version of the Doom Patrol is the best example of the team being a found family since Rachel Pollack's run back in the 90s. They've been through hell and back, but they can still sit in a living room and laugh about it. They were ready to face death together with love and laughter about eating Niles Caulder's head. Rita tells Mento before she leaves: "All I know is… I don't want to end up like you. Or Arani, or Rhea." This episode confirmed that she didn't end up like them. None of them did. If Rita Farr is truly dead, then she died surrounded by the people who loved her most who rushed to her body to help her without a second thought. At the end of the day, this show is about a bunch of freaks who love each other and that love has overcome the strangest and most bizarre forms of hell imaginable.
The Doom Patrol is marching towards death in the same way that the show is marching towards death with only two episodes left to go. No matter how it all ends, this show will always be special to me.

One of the other aggravating things about Danny's character is that in Listen he's set up to be the 'soldier without a gun'/'soldier that doesn't kill' which is later revealed to mean jack fucking shit because. You know. He killed a brown kid in another country and likely more. That's what joining the murderous imperialist machine gets you. The one recurring character of colour and they made him this!!! And treated him like this!!!! (Also I liked Orson Pink a lot. And then Danny dies at the end of series eight which means Orson never exists and Listen as an episode just feels so. Empty. Kind of funny/sad they got Samuel Anderson to play both characters??? Like they really said ah they're both black and one's descended from the other. Just smack an afro on the descendant and people either won't notice or won't mind that they're played by the same guy??? Maybe this sort of thing happens more often than I think but I can't think. Of any other cases where this happens?) Also it's CLARA who retroactively influences him to become a soldier in the first place!! Fucked up!! Perhaps the Doctor should get more pissed at her for that!!! And the Doctor's whole anti soldier thing is like. I get it with imperialistic/colonial militaries. But in most cases in the show it's like. Soldiers fighting against universally genocidal forces like the Daleks. Which they wouldn't have to fight if the Doctor wasn't such a pussy with shit like "Do I have the right (to kill the alien hitler species before they were created to save LITERALLY TRILLIONS OF LIVES") and "Coward. Any day." Like I get that's the point of his character but damn... Talk about leaving a bad taste in the mouth... To me scenes like those are the British using the Doctor as a mouthpiece like "Ooo no please don't hate us or resent us or fight back against us you'd be just as bad as us even after we kill and oppress all of you!! Pacifism in the face of mass slaughter is the answer!!! :))))))" Like tell that to the victims of the British empire (or in the Doctor's case like. So many species who have suffered at the hands of the Daleks. Like do their lives matter so little you'd let the space nazis live??? All so you can go away assured you're still a good person? That you're not a murderer? Imagine how much better this show would be if it wasn't made by a colonial power/wasn't rank with liberalism and British apologism.
This was supposed to be about Danny it all got away from me I'm so sorry
i cannot stop thinking about that child. the show doesnt even name him btw. the fandom wiki calls him "Boy". i think he exists only to give danny Soldier Guilt. doesnt speak cant vocalize opinions. the show is like. and btw kids are killed by soldiers sometimes ! but doesnt bother expanding that Danny was shooting at SOMEONE. and that kid was just incidental. when danny enters the afterlife none of the Soldiers He Killed are there. just the one nameless familyless contextless innocent. never mind why danny pink was in afghanistan. never mind why danny pink felt justified carrying the gun. never mind why danny pink was shooting in a home. A Kid Died and NOW its Sad.
Tumblr media
danny feels no guilt for any other killing. hes not held responsible for any of his other actions in the afterlife. just this one child. the ONLY innocent from the war. and we only see it from dannys perspective.
and even when danny grants him a second chance at life we just .... never see him again.... may as well still be dead. clara says "ill get him home" and then we the audience are free to stop caring or thinking about him ever again.

Hi, me again, the one with the future donnie and leo ideas with more cause why not
Just wanted to jot down some UC (unnamed child/character) and Casey Jr cousin behavior as they’re raised by different ā€œdadsā€ (Leo being Casey’s and Donnie being UC’s)
(Again, do whatever you want with this info)
The two deciding to put on a performance so their dads will let them have a sleep over despite literally living with each other (they leaned from April cousins used to dance in order to get what they want)
UC bringing back trinkets they get from going on scavenger hunts with Donnie and Casey keeping them all in a box
Casey bringing back any books he’s able to find while going on patrols with Leo for UC (sometimes they’re a little you know ripped and muddy but psh book is book)
Apocalypse training! The cousins are a deadly duo and the twins couldn’t be more proud, almost seeing themselves in their kids (#theygrowupsofast #soonthey’llbekillingsomemonsters #couldntbemoreproudofthekids)
Elaborating more on that, they sometimes can’t train in the same room, especially when they were younger and couldn’t grasp the severity in training so they’d goof when the adults weren’t looking (some angst possibilities here). Either that or they did manage to grasp their situation fairly quickly and adapted their mindsets to learn the techniques they were being taught faster (#childhoodGONE)
Almost never go on patrols separately. You will have to PULL them apart if you want to take one and leave the other (only exception if it’s with one of their family members but if they’re assigned to different groups the two HAVE to go together)
Tried making a blood pact once (ā€œits a blood pact, we go down togetherā€) *cue the twins scooping up their respective kid before they can actually go through with it*
I imagine UC asking Donnie for help to make a music box for Casey Jr after he lost his mom (April helped)
Them actually getting better at dancing and sometimes they’ll be dancing around their rooms despite there not being any music because they’re cool like that
Sneaking into Donnie’s lab in order to see what kinds of shenanigans he’s doing in there
Getting caught sneaking into Donnie’s lab in order to see what kinds of shenanigans he’s doing in there (#worthit)
UC imagining making the weirdest shit only to actually put those thoughts into action and drags Casey Jr along too
UC, holding a blueprint: So, I have an idea for a new weapon. It's a combination of a laser gun and a grenade launcher.
Casey Jr: That sounds dangerous.
Cousin: Exactly! It's perfect for taking out a whole group of Kraang soldiers at once!
Casey Jr: *raises an eyebrow* And what if we accidentally blow ourselves up?
Cousin: *holding up a wrench like it’s a sword* Then we'll go out in a blaze of glory!
Casey Jr: I prefer to not go out at all, thank you very much…
The two doing their best to sneak up on Leo despite him catching them everytime (literally. He’d probably turn around last second and grab them scaring them instead of the other way around like the two planned)
Ganging up on people. Like what do you mean UC is not getting taller? You’re wrong! Yeah tell em Casey Jr! (No one is safe)
UC rambling about more in depth science stuff and Casey Jr just šŸ§šŸ‘ (I have a feeling that he is good at science because..Donnie, but since UC is mechanically inclined and was raised directly by Donatello they’re just WOOO you know?)
April and Mikey setting up little forts for them and the four just hang around giggling and rolling around like four puppies
Casey Jr doing his best for his cousin after Donnie died, leaving behind all his work to be carried on by his kid, and reminds them that they can share the burden of being the backbone of the resistance
Getting into petty fights with each other over something small like, who gets the last piece scrap metal idk
Thinking about angst scenarios where one of them is too far to reach the other (who is in danger) and they get hurt badly and then having to quickly get them back home and explain what happened
Another angsty scenario eating away at me is one of them is forced to take a different route than expected when patrolling and they lose contact with the base. The panic and chaos that would happen…
Wowwwwww!!! I’m in shock, future anon you sent me hcs šŸ˜šŸ¤
Honestly though UC sounds so cool/cute scenarios where Casey Jr. has someone around his age and Donnie basically has his own kid 😘🤌 just mwah, love it!!! I just had to post this even though I don’t have much to add just tot this was super duper cute ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

i literally just discovered this blog today and it encouraged me to give shape to this idea :3
meet camille arkright, the most hardworking girl in town! born april 26th, taurus: the resilient nature. catchphrase: ā€œall work, no play! … okay, a little bit of play!ā€
> she’s french-canadian, and lives with her grandfather who’s now quite old. he spends most of his time sleeping; camille only wakes him up to take his meds and eat dinners (when he can stomach it). as such, she’s had to work a lot of part-time jobs to keep them afloat, hence her title of ā€œmost hardworking girl in town.ā€
> since she’s always tired, she does quite poorly in school, which is why ocean so kindly ā€œtook her under her wingsā€ so to speak. camille eventually joined the choir, and unfortunately rode the cyclone.
when she was still alive, camille loved the choir (and ocean herself despite her attitude) because it represented her only escape from her daily life; it was the first group she was really apart of in a long while. it made her life more bearable.
i imagine camille probably spent a lot of time around ocean and constance, but i think she really wanted to be closer to the others but didn’t quite know how to. she’s a little awkward in social situations!
on one hand, it’s really a shame that they all died, but on the other, it did gave her the opportunity to really connect with them…
> i think her song would be about what she’d do if she suddenly became extremely rich; if her hard work really paid off. she’d get a nice house, her grandfather could get perfect care, people would want her around more often… it’s those kind of dreams that allowed her to keep going no matter how tiring everything was.
and some random things i’ve thought of:
> would let ricky draw her fursona. in fact, camille would think about it long and hard about it and give him clear ideas on what she’d want.
> has always believed that mischa’s beloved was real and admired their relationship a lot. wondered if she’d ever find something like that. if she’d even have time…
> speaking of mischa, she also thinks he is very cool and awesome. might have a bit of a crush on him, though she’d probably be very hesitant to mention it for many reasons ghdks
> secretely loves seeing noel and ocean fight. it’s just really entertaining (Ā“āˆ€ļ½€*)
> constance taught her how to bake :)
i’m in the car right now so i can’t draw her but i’ll probably do more with her because >:3 i love what i came up with hehehe
and here’s a picrew:

2 - 57 The Checkmate Murder
I am sincerely running out of intros
Tumblr media
pretending to be okay, still crying inside
DON'T READ THE EPISODES WITHOUT READING THE BOOKS!!
Irratino has to stop fooling around and find his Logico. But his search is getting darker. Literally, he’s following a trail of blood underground… And what he finds is beyond shocking.Ā
TANGERINE: Took you long enough. Come step inside.
They open giant double doors to reveal… a totally illegal fighting ring!! And not just any fighting… CHESSBOXING!!!
Irratino feels his heart sink. Logico would die to attend something like this! But hopefully… not literally. The trail of blood leads to some human in the stands, but Irratino barely has time to pay attention to that!!
NAVY: Folks… I imagine you’ve been waiting a LONG time for this. This match will not only guarantee the owner of the championship belt, but also who lives and dies. I’ve delayed 15 boats to be here, so it’d better be a show…
Charcoal bumps into Irratino.
IRRATINO: You again? CHARCOAL: Yeah… but this time I came here on purpose! Chess is only interesting when you throw boxing into it.
Irratino can’t disagree. But he does need to figure out who murdered the human in the stands that no one’s paying attention to.
NAVY: The finalists are approaching. On one side of the board, The Huminator.
A man enters the ring.
TANGERINE: GO FUCK YOURSELF! NAVY: He may not be the same human from the last round, and if he isn’t, no one would be able to tell. But on the right side of the board, or… left, depending on where you’re sitting, is The Amazing Aureolin.
Auree comes out in a face shield and gloves!
AUREOLIN: FOR THE SMALLER ONES OUT THERE…
Her triplets scream with awe. Irratino rubs his eyes. What the hell is going on?? And why isn’t Logico here to see it…
CHARCOAL: Dang… Logico would really love this. I wonder where he is.
This is the last straw. Irratino has to solve this mini murder!
NAVY: Let the match… begin!
There’s a boring part where they play chess. But when the whistle blows, Auree and the human punch each other violently.
TANGERINE: KNOCK HIS HEAD OFF. BREAK HIS JAW!! SNAP HIS NECK!!!
Proving that non-binary people can be murderers too, Tangerine is a complete psychopath.
NAVY: Oh, I already see a blood spill. CHARCOAL: This is so amazing, oh my god. Look what I got!
He holds up boxing gloves.
IRRATINO: From… where? CHARCOAL: The ring! IRRATINO: HOW?!
Now Irratino has them too.
CHARCOAL: Practice against me. I gotta get in there! IRRATINO: NO!!
The real boxers have lost their gloves, so after the next chess move, the hits are hitting harder. Without gloves, boxing is just a fistfight. Aureolin loses a tooth! And the Huminator almost loses an eye. Irratino has no time to process the violence, because he gets a voicemail from Logico!
LOGICO: Hey Tino! If you get this, I want you to know that I’m okay, but you should really reach out to the Reds. More importantly, OH MY GOD!!! I found this INSANE chessboxing match on TV, and guess who’s fighting. THE AMAZING AUREOLIN! Isn’t that insane? I can’t believe she played the King’s Gambit in the middle of a boxing ring!Ā
Irratino doesn’t know how to feel. Logico doesn’t seem to be taking this very seriously. But at least he’s alright. Irratino can’t handle the separation for much longer, though…
IRRATINO: Hey, wait a second! [to Charcoal] You killed that human!
Instead of crying, Charcoal chuckles, which is disturbing.
CHARCOAL: He owed me money and he didn’t pay. What was I supposed to do?
Irratino thinks of broke little Logico in his jail cell. Could his kidnapping have to do with money?
IRRATINO: Logico…  CHARCOAL: W… wait… you think I… you think I killed Logico? IRRATINO: N-no CHARCOAL: I could… I could never kill Logico!! [crying fit]
There it is. Irratino may have solved another one, but he’s not any closer to Gico than he was yesterday. But hey, at least Aureolin won the match!
AUREOLIN: And if anyone asks, that doesn’t count as a murder!
The end!Ā
I fucking love aureolin omg
the chessboxing debut!!!! Logico gets revenge on Irratino for seeing a movie without him by calling him just to yap about what was on TV
