Do you think Jyn and Maarva would like each other?
tl;dr: no <3
I don't think Jyn would get along with maarva as she is a source of Cassian's issues with self-worth and guilt, similar to how Saw is a source for her fear of abandonment. Maarva doesn't even like her own son so who knows who's good enough for her lol.
a long rant below the cut
Jyn being someone who knows exactly what itā€™s like to be adopted and re-abandoned, her seeing Cassian's mother be consistently disappointed in her drugged n kidnapped adopted son is a whole other level of fucked up parental issues. Maarva opting to be with her her town instead of Cassian in her last days and also disbanding his actual family, it would be very difficult for someone like Jyn to see past these actions.
There's also no real justification for Maarva's treatment of Cassian (because he doesn't do his capitalist ferrix job? because he brings girls home? because he still lives with her even though he takes care of her?). AND even after her death, the last thing she wants him to remember was ā€œhey, youā€™re a big fuck up, but thatā€™s okay <3ā€.
Maarva has done nothing but live her life from her fuckass couch and yet had the audacity to tell Cassian that he needs to stand up, that he needs to rebel or get a job. Even after when he fought back and went to child prison after seeing his adopted father hanged. So not only did you get ripped away from your parents, but also the person that supposedly chose you felt like they got more than they bargained for, Cassian therefore feeling ultimately undesired by both the biological and adopted family.
But being a parent is complicated, is she at fault?
Compare it to Saw abandoning Jyn. When Jyn grew older he was forced to choose between his daughter and his life's mission. Abandoning her is, without argument, fucked up. While it created irreparable damage, we can understand why he did it. Not only was it traumatizing for Jyn, but it was THE ultimate sacrifice he was making from himself. The thing that shifts some blame away is that it gutted him to do this, and he did it from a place making sure she was safe and alive.
So with this in mind, what is Maarvaā€™s sacrifice in being constantly disappointed in your adopted son because he isnā€™t like everyone else? What does she gain when she tells him to forget about Kenari, that thereā€™s nothing left? Imagine being adopted, being told as an adult that, no, you canā€™t be looking for your biological family and that theyā€™re nothing now, and that even trying is useless. The only thing I can see is that she just wants Cassian to fit her image of an ideal Ferrix citizen, which isn't amazing and isn't enough to justify her actions.
Moreover, as someone who has lost a parent, the last moments you have with them hold a permanent memory that weigh differently than everything else, and imo require its own sort of grief. On Maarva's last days, she made him leave without her, even when she knew she was going to die by not taking her meds. She would rather spend her last days being memorialized as a hero on Ferrix than being with her only son. And at the end of your days, you want to go home. You want to be with family for as long as possible. For Maarva, home was Ferrix and everyone else there, not Cassian.
So Maarva sucks because she was a terrible mother at the benefit of literally nothing. Where Saw was the insurgent leader of the extremist cell that made major attacks against the empire; and not the best father largely because of his life's work but also still wanting to do his best to keep his daughter safe. But look who gets more villainized than anybody else and who is more celebrated as a hero?
On a tangent now, I believe Jyn and Maarva would be comparable to Cassian and Saw's relationship: you don't feel all warm and fuzzy inside meeting the [person you care about]'s greatest source of trauma.
All that Cassian knows about him is that he adopted her, then abandoned her. Upon seeing him on Jedha he almost draws a gun to protect Jyn (doing that before THE guy, THE supposed terrorist and Empire's most wanted, mind you), unsure where their relationship stands. Saw of course, would protect his daughter in turn, not knowing who this guy is.
I would believe Jyn would see Maarva in a similar light on a dramatically smaller scale. That "I hate my MIL and our interests are only mutually aligned around what's best for Cassian", but of course what that means is totally different things. Maarva sees Cassian and believes he needs to change. Even when sheā€™s fucking dead he still needs for things to come together in order to be unstoppable, or whatever vision she had in mind for him and that him on his own is not enough.
And so the rest of this is how I interpret the implications for Rogue One: that the lessons both Jyn and Cassian took from their adopted parents can be mutually shattered as they see each other for who they are and not what they've been molded to believe.
As we know with Jyn, she has a complex moral code. When she sees a stormtrooper she feels the reflex to kill. When she sees a war-torn child, her reaction is to risk her own life to save innocents. And this is what she continues to do when she meets Cassian. She has every reason to shoot him and steal his ship. But on Jedha, seeing him agreeing with her that she was perhaps worth saving after her deed of saving the child, she sees him in return when he shoots the partisan. They see each other for their actions, for the better parts of each other, despite their words and even their own personal doubts. Jyn continues to risk her life for him over and over again and vice versa. She doesnā€™t want to change him at all and she inspires him to fight in ways he perhaps has forgotten or never knew was possible.
In fact, the reason sheā€™s angry with him on Eadu is because he lied to her. Revealing the intention to kill someoneā€™s dad easily put your anger in the right, but while she is mixed up with grief, the bigger part of her knows he was incapable of doing it and doesnā€™t revel in the fact of who he couldā€™ve been if he killed her father or even combined with terrible things he's done, but just sees the present man that didn't and instead came back for her. Even Cassian is thinking how she was going to kill him for it, when he hadnā€™t even committed the crime. Heā€™s caught up with the impression and perception of the kind of man he is, the narrative that heā€™s been fed his whole life that heā€™s committed atrocities that deem him unworthy.
Jyn and Cassian offer each other a break from narratives and reputations that they've tried to sound out their whole lives. And although both characters have a lot of integrity, being told the same thing over again through life lessons, you begin to believe it yourself. It's where we meet the two of them at their lowest points. That for Jyn, she wasn't someone worth returning to, that there isn't hope amongst war. And for Cassian, that he's not a good person for things he's done, that war is endless, and he has to follow orders or do things for others in order to belong. As the events of Rogue One unfold, we can see how they come to understand each other. They create a bond by feeling seen for the first time.
IN SUMMARY:
Maarva is like the exact opposite of Saw Gerrera in all the worst fucking ways, I tell you. Instead of being family friends with and saving the child that he later abandons, she kidnaps the child away from their actual family and then holds them hostage on her planet to force-assimilate and take care of her in her old age. And instead of actively rebelling through extremist insurgencies, she sits around and berates her son to go be a rebel, and yet disappointed that he doesn't have a job or doesn't do what everybody else does(?).
Jyn would hate that bitch like. Every Life Day would be an ordeal. The irony of how she fucking dies doing nothing when Saw Gerrera is barely held together by oxygen tubes and yet outlives this couch potato. Andors versus Erso-Gerreras it's first-planet problems versus outer rim problems. Yeah they're both traumatic but the biggest difference is one of these is entirely avoidable if you just weren't a piece of shit.

Danny is the Crazy Old Manā„¢ļø of Gotham
So, the events of Danny Phantom happened decades ago
Like, Phantom Planet was one of the first instances of Superheroes in HISTORY. Early 1900's, just the Fentons were Insanely Ahead of their Time!
Danny is still a Halfa, but has allowed himself to grow old and live his best life before fully dying so he can accept his Throne in the Infinite Realms. He decides to experience Life in the fullest way possible, partying, drinking, making long lasting friendships that shape the lives of everybody he meets, all that!
Eventually, Danny's Party Life leads him to Gotham. And this place is just amazing!
It has all the comforts of Home, with so much more! He can Party! He can Fight! He can do anything he wants and nobody bats an eye, because a crazy old man getting into a fistfight in the middle of the road is just another Tuesday for Gotham!
He decides to spend the rest of his Mortal Life there. And this is still Early On in the DC Timeline, like, Batman Year 1 is happening Right Now.
He hangs around, befriends the local Homeless Population, and mostly just has the time of his Life! And he takes up the stereotypical Homeless Old Man look because why fight it? That's literally what he's going for!
He also unintentionally sets up a bunch of future events
He teaches Kid!Jason on his to steal Tires as repayment for driving off some muggers with a Baseball Bat (honestly he was looking forward to being mugged, it's a new experience after all)
He pulls Kid!Tim into an Alley after Tim gets caught out at night and gets chased by some Punks. He hides Tim behind a Dumpster and tricks the Punks into mugging him instead (Yay! He finally got mugged!)
He becomes kind of well known as the Old Man who wants to experience everything before he dies. He says as much too, not like he really has a reason to hide it. He just tells people "I want to live my life to the fullest, it don't matter if I live 10 more years or 10 more minutes, I'm gonna experience every second of it!"
He once walked into a Cloud of Fear Gas to see what it was like. Later he said it was a 6/10. "Not the worst thing I've had injected into my body!" He says with no Context.
He traded places with a Hostage during an active Crime Scene because he wanted to know what it's like.
He was once dared to take Batmans Utility Belt by another Homeless Guy as a joke, so he walked up to Batman later that night in full view of everybody else and just asked for his Belt. He gives up after a few minutes, and one guy asked "Why not fight him for it? It's an experience after all.". Danny replys "Nah, I've fought Vigilantes before. It was fun though, gotta say!"
...
This got away from me, but all this to say: Imagine the Bat Families Reaction when they find out "Crazy Old Danny" is PHANTOM. You know, THE FIRST SUPERHERO!
I imagine Constantine is having a stroll though Gotham after finishing up some business with Bruce, and just bumps into a homeless guy by accident.
Later that night:
Batman: Constantine, Why are you calling? Is it to do with the-
Constantine: Why the fuck is there a Homeless God in your City?
Batman: Wait wha-
...
Or imagine they know before Constantine meets him, and it goes instead like this
Constantine: Why the fuck is there a Homeless God in your City?!
Batman: You mean Old Man Danny? He's just a homeless guy? What do you mean?
Constantine: I swear on what's left of my Soul, that is a God.
Batman, a little shit: I don't think so, I would know (fully knows)

Hey, I know you're writing more stories but if you have time could you write a oneshot? Y/n is mate of Ao'ung and eldest daughter of Jake and Neytiri and in the battle she dies instead of Neteyam taking the bullet instead of him, I know it is a bit angst but for me it's a good ideašŸ„ŗ
Thank youā¤ļø
Tumblr media
ā€” pairings : ao'nung x fem!reader.
ā€” warnings : avatar the way of water spoilers. angst. character death. mama neytiri suffers again<\3.
ā€” author's note : this feels just like my first neteyam post all over again but different charactersšŸ˜.. anyways this was so fun to write imao, i hope you like it<3
Tumblr media
It was clear Ao'nung was your favorite amongst the Sully siblings. It wasn't said that he never picked on you, but he rarely did it. After all, you're the eldest siblings of the family, which meant your also older than him.
He respects you of course, more than he respects your younger brother, Neteyam.
It was then he grew some sort of admiration towards you, and the situation turned into a blossoming romance between you two. He has seen the way you act differently towards him as well, you were more soft spoken and casual, rather than stoic and fierce.
It was as if he met another version of you when he managed to befriend you. Since you were just a year older, you treat him as if he was some disobedient child when you get the chance. Whenever he's messing around, you'd be the one scolding him and such.
He'd never go against your words though. It would be like playing with fire.
The boy noticed how you acted more like your mother, you were fierce and responsible on the outside, but in the inside you were actually shy and a softie. Imagine his reaction when he saw you get flustered over his words for the first time.
He was in awe, I tell you.
Greatmother, he was so smitten for you. Absolutely head over heels It drove him insane. He even went to his sister once to help him with his feelings, and Tsireya was just as surprised as he was.
He was planning on telling you his feelings soon, but he felt that it wasn't the right time yet. But as he lost his chance, time had gone thin.
"Where are you going?!" Ao'nung harshly grabs your hand as you tried swimming away with your Ilu. Kiri had justed used some weird reef telekinesis earlier to save all your lives, but your mind was on the battlefield.
"To fight!"
Ao'nung sneered at you words, shaking his head. "You can't go out there! Didn't you see what they had as weapons!? You'll be killed!" He hisses, his grip on your forearm tightening.
"I'm fighting for my brothers and sisters, Ao'nung. I was born to fight! This isn't my first battle." You tell him, trying to jerk off his hold on your hand. He let's out a frustrated breath, brows furrowing.
He hesitantly soften his hold on your arm, and you neared him as he did so. Your hand comes up to his cheek, forcing him to look at you. "I'll be back, okay? I promise." You softly spoke.
He watched as you dived down into the water with your Ilu, eyes brimming with irritated tears. Rotxo comes from behind him, grasping his shoulders. "She'll be alright, mate. (name) is a strong girl."
You emerged from the water with a quick breath, ordering your Ilu to swim faster ad you neared the attack scene. There was so much going on, not to mention Lo'ak's tulkun literally slaughtering the people inside the small boats.
Your breath hitched as an Ikran drops from a rock beside you, aiming a spear at the animal until you saw the familiar patterns and colors of the creature. "Mother." You sighed. The woman shouts your name, hastily yelling at you to come on.
You did as you were told, biting your lip as your feet scrapped on the sharp edges of the rocks. Your mother immediately gets back to flight, barely missing the boat that was being thrown onto the rock.
Your fist tightly held your bow has you aimed on the unprotected sky-people, shooting your arrow at one. You grunted as you hear bullets being shot at your direction, and you turned to see the same Avatar from back home.
Neytiri recklessly dodged the shots, and you aimed a spear from the Metkayina clan at him. Your father then emerged from the water, shooting at the Avatar as your spear was sharply thrown at the demon-blooded's Ikran.
The Ikran falls down into the water with a pained hiss, along with the demon-blooded who bonded with it. You let out a yell at your actions, grinning from ear to ear as your mother does the same.
"Mother, fly by that boat!" You instructed your mother, pointing at the said transportation. She immediately does a sharp turn, hastily flying to the boat.
You dropped down at the thick metal right after your mother hands you your bow, surprising the three as you saw your brother already helping them. "Big sister!" Tuktirey let's out a cry, you simply smiled at her as you brought out the sharp knife from your waist-trainer.
"You okay there, bro?" You asked Lo'ak, watching as he rolls his eyes. "Who is the mighty warrior?" You hear Neteyam tease the boy, Lo'ak scoffs, but doesn't hide his obvious smile.
"Come on! Let's not waste time." You scolded the two as they laughed together, hitting the back of their heads as they let out a yelp. Neteyam grabs your hand as you two tried to jump from the boat, but you see Lo'ak at the corner of your eyes go the opposite way.
"Lo'ak!" You hiss. You ran towards him, tugging on Neteyam's hands as he looked at you, confused.
"They have spider, we have to get him." He tells you. You furrowed your brows together, unsure of what to do. He slowly stands back up, obviously serious of what he's saying. "Come on you two, we can't just leave him!" He complains.
Neteyam looks at you, and you groaned in annoyance. "Fine! Skxawng." You sneered, grabbing your bow harshly that it could practically break. Lo'ak grins at your agreement, and you you followed after him into the boat.
You carefully leaded the way as you now had an eye on where spider was. You aimed your bow at a man, shooting immediately when you had a clear path on his head. The sky-people watching spider let's out a yell, and immediately your brothers dropped down, attacking them.
You hung your bow on your back, grabbing the arrow your used to shoot the man in the head as you sharply drew in through the nearest sky people beside you before they could shoot at your brothers.
You grabbed another one by the neck, standing up straight and pulling him up with all your strength, basing his head onto the metal railings on top of you as you head the breaking of glass from his mask.
Grabbing your knife from your waist-trainer, you spot another human struggling to reach his gun. You pushed Lo'ak away as you used your strength and threw the knife at him, watching as the blade jabbed his chest. Lo'ak looks at you, surprised.
You breathed heavily, scowling as you watched a grin form on his face. "You should teach me that move sometime."
"First, we got out of here. M'kay?" You sneered passively. You grabbed his forearm as you dragged him with you, following Neteyam as he heads the way.
You hopped down from the short staircase, watching as Spider does the same. "Thanks guys." The human says. You waved your hand at him dismissively, your eyes scanning the area. Lo'ak spots another demon blood, and raises his gun.
"No!" You yelled. You let out a hiss as you feel a bullet shoot through your hand, making you instantly grab Lo'ak and drag him to the nearest corner to take cover. Neteyam followed right after, watching the bullets hit the metal railings.
"Give me that!" Neteyam grabs the gun from Lo'ak, reloading it as he pulls the trigger, carelessly shooting everywhere. "Go jump in the water!" You told the two boys. They looked at you hesitantly, and you sneered. "Goddamn it, hurry!" You growled.
They instantly jumped down, and your hastily grabbed the gun from Neteyam. "Let's go!" You yelled. He goes after Lo'ak, jumping in. You let out nervous breaths, your ear twitching as you hear the footsteps nearing your direction.
You took big steps forward, running towards the water and diving in. A stinging pain swelled up in your chest, but before you could let out a pained yell, you dropped into the water.
Hurriedly swimming back into the surface, you watched as your brothers celebrate their escape. Tsireya arrives with her Ilu, instructing you four to get on. Neteyam glanced at you as he notices you struggling to swim, his smile dropping.
"(name)ā€”?"
His eyes then lingered at the blood seeping the water near you, and his heart dropped at the sight. "Shit!, (name)ā€“" He jumped from the Ilu, swimming towards you as you struggled to keep your head above water.
"Oh no." Tsireya gasps, gaze on the bloodied water.
"Hold her up!" Neteyam hisses at spider as he placed your body on top of the girls ilu. You growled and slapped Spider's hand away, but then choked when your hand pressed against your chest.
"It's okay, sister. I've got you, okay? D-dont close your eyes." Lo'ak says, stuttering over his words. "Sā€”skxawng. Why would I do that." You hissed harshly, your voice wavering as you struggled to breathe for air.
"Let's go!"
"Butā€” they have Kiri and Tuk." Tsireya speaks up. Your ear twitched at her sentence, you kept a hand on your chest as Neteyam does the same, his hand over yours while he applied pressure.
"Just breathe, sister." Neteyam softly said, his voice wobbling.
Your brother leads the Ilu towards a rock, spotting your father. "Dad! Dad, help!" Lo'ak shouts. They carefully carried your body as they placed you on the rock, careful not to hit your head. Tsireya sobbed at the sight of your bloodied torso, shutting her eyes.
"Fatherā€”" You spoke up, your blurring eyes seeing the figure of your father next to you.
"Shhh," he turns your body over, seeing that the bullet had completely went though your chest. He mutters a cuss as you wheezed for air, coughing and choking as your lungs tightened up from the struggling.
He gestured over Neteyam, grabbing his hands as he instructed the boy to put pressure on your chest. Your brother does as he was told, and you yelled at the feeling of the pressure.
You sobbed at the aching sensations swirling through your chest, eyes blinking the tears collecting in your eyes as it refused to fall from your cheeks. Your mother the arrives after hearing your yell from a small distance, eyes widening at the sight of your blood on your brothers hands.
"No! No, no, (name), don't do this." She let's out a cry, kneeling down beside you. "My sweet girl.." neytiri sobs at your cries, your chest heaving as the pressure Neteyam was putting on your chest only made the feeling worst.
"Maā€”"
Neytiri sharply inhales at your call, her big hands grasping your own as she let's the sensation of your hands caress her cheek, "Yes, ma child? Speak to me."
"I'm sorry." She shakes her head at your words, breaking down. "I'm so sorry, motherā€” I let you down." You heaved for air desperately, watching as your mother sobs harshly.
"No, child. It's gonna be okay, I'm here for you. We're all hereā€”"
"(name)?" Tsireya turned at the sound of her brother's voice. She let's out a tight exhale as she stood up, walking towards her brother as she immediately engulfed him into an embrace.
Ao'nung walks away from his sisters embrace, walking towards you. He kneels beside you, eyes scanning your face as he watches the trails of previous tears make wet patterns on your face. "Ao'nung." You coughed up.
"Shit, just breathe, okay? You're gonna be fineā€” you're fine," Ao'nung continued to convince himself that as he placed a hand on top of Neteyams hand when he saw the bloodied wound. You shake your head with a tired sigh, blinking repeatedly as it was already hard to keep your eyes open.
You smiled at him before your last breath slipped from your mouth, your struggled breathing halting as your choking seized. Neteyam snapped his attention to your face, seeing how you've completely gone cold. Ao'nungs hand twitched as he feels your chest stop beating, blinking repeatedly.
Neytiri cries out in anguish, the palm of her hand touching your face as she cradled your head. "My child!" She exclaims, bringing your head up to her chest as you didn't move a muscle.
Ao'nung's breath trembled as his hand slipped from your skin, looking at the light from your eyes disappear, and it was replaced with a blank, empty gaze. "No."
Tsireya sobbed at his words, watching as he shakes his head repeatedly. "No, (name), you can't do this to me." His voice trembled as he hicced, sniffing harshly. "You promised!" He yells, his voice loud and clear despite your mother's cries.
Tsireye looks down as her brother leaned against her, his head on her shoulder as he sobbed on her shoulder. "She lied."
"Im sorry, brother." Tsireya sympathetically spoke up, wiping her tears as she wrapped her arms around her sobbing brother, feeling his shoulders shake from his trembling cries. "She promised me, Tsireya. She promised to come back." Ao'nung harshly breaths.
Your father looks at the two upon hearing Ao'nung's words, sighing as he embraced his wife was she continued to cry out for you, begging for Eywa to bring you back.
"I didn't get to tell her." Tsireya hushed her brother, cradling him against her as she took in his sobs.

How murderous is Karkat and Eridan?
Eridan: "killin is all i evver done practically the ocean wwas my killing cauldron"
Karkat: loves his friends so much that it hurts
They're both really blasƩ about killing things like imps or game enemies, and neither of them WANT to hurt their friends. Eridan's just more used to it because it was his whole job, and he's a lot better at fighting than Karkat is.
Vriska at one point says to John that her bodycount is probably "many thousands," so we can probably use that as a reference and assume Eridan's in that same bracket, because he and Vriska have a lot of parallels. In fact, I'd go so far as to call Vriska and Eridan a literary device called "parallel characters" - by listening to Vriska tell John about her feelings about her bodycount and of her place in society, we get to learn about how Eridan's feeling, too.
If we set the bar at 3000 (the low end of "many thousands") and Vriska and Eridan are both the equivalent of 13 years old, or a little less than 700 weeks, that meant he and Vriska were averaging out to multiple kills a week (and given they probably didn't start when they were newhatches and 3000 is a low estimate, like... it was probably an insane number like 5-7 kills/week). But never anyone they "cared about," in Vriska's words, until the Team Charge debacle, or Eridan went berserk on Feferi and Sollux (we should also keep in mind that Eridan outright says to Kanaya that he doesn't want to kill people he considers his friends).
But Eridan is significantly less emotionally intelligent than Vriska (a fucking feat), has less of a support system, and has a lot of Duty and Responsibility and Fate of the Species on his shoulders, so he copes a lot worse (again, a fucking feat). For Eridan, it's less about "being murderous," and more about "society demands that I be murderous" + "if I am not murderous, everybody dies" + "when I grow up, murder is my only viable career path".
He's ANXIOUS AS FUCK at his core. Via their parallel character status, we know from Vriska that they're both actually really nervous about growing up and taking their place in a society that demands bloodshed from them. When Eridan obsesses over genocide, it's a byproduct of Literally Being The Guy That Is Preventing Genocide (to the point of not really having other hobbies). We also know that he feels guilt towards his victims (or at least more than Feferi), which we know from Vriska is societally unacceptible. And if it's unacceptible for her to feel bad, then imagine how much less okay it is for the sea dweller.
So I wouldn't necessarily call Eridan murderous - like with most things regarding Eridan, it's more complicated than that - but I would call him "on a hair trigger", "conditioned to reach towards murder as an early solution," and "obsessively/anxiously trying to live up to how murderous society demands he be," all while not at all wanting to kill people he cares about. I think it's really important to note that, even though the higher the blood the more volatile the troll, and despite being unauspiced and unmoirailled, and without relying on sopor, Eridan did not start shooting to kill until Sollux and Feferi escalated the situation.
And before anyone mentions that Feferi's in the same boat, she spends practically the whole time with Sollux, who is foreshadowed to be her moirail.
Like, the tragedy of Eridan's character is that he's lonely and terrified, but does such a good job at putting up an obnoxious front that even a lot of the audience became convinced that he basically sucked and his problems didn't matter. His dumbass plan to go to Jack was a genuine attempt to save Feferi, the person he cared most about.
If you go back and look at that conversation, Eridan's casual casteist threats aren't genuine (see my pinned Eridan essay for details) - and SOLLUX is the one who says "I should have killed you when I had the chance". And Eridan DOESN'T KILL SOLLUX, because this whole time, Eridan has not wanted to kill his friends. It's not until Feferi - the person he cares most about, the one whom he concocted that suicidal mission in order to save - turns on him in agreement that Sollux should've killed him - that makes Eridan finally lose it.
Meanwhile, Karkat just loves his friends. He loves them so fucking much. I think this is pretty well-documented about him? He's got no qualms about murdering game constructs like imps and the black king, but he feels deeply fucking hurt and betrayed by Bec Noir since he bonded with Jack/Spades Slick. I don't think Karkat ever makes a genuine death threat against anybody but past!Eridan, but he and Eridan are heavily foreshadowed to be moirails, and that conversation has a hilarious bit in the middle where Karkat seemingly forgets that he's mad at the guy and just starts telling him he's a dumbass. Later on, he expresses missing his dead friends, including/especially the assholes, in the same segment as the meteor runs into dead Feferi and Eridan, so I think that that was more an angry outburst than a genuine desire to see Eridan dead.
In fact, even though he's basically shown nothing but scorn for Gamzee and Gamzee's religious beliefs and clown-ness, and even after Gamzee murders two people and seems to be trying to murder them all, Karkat can't bring himself to kill or even fight the guy, just shooshpap him down, later ranting that Gamzee was a lovable bullshit clown that he liked a lot, and (one of) his best friend(s).
So they're both in this boat of not wanting to kill their friends, but feeling societally pressured into grandstanding that they're TOTALLY murderous assholes just trust me - but Eridan was in a position where he was forced to do it at the detriment of any other hobbies, or else everybody died, and is also one of the best fighters on the team, if not THE best. Thus, the fact that it's a viable option is not only near the forefront of his mind at all times, but he has the skills to resort to it. I guess technically, that does make him more murderous, but it's also, like... any normal person in his situation would wind up the same way, honestly.

If you had asked Sonic how he felt about being alone four years ago, he would've told you it was the most freeing feeling in the world.
It's not that he disliked people or didn't want to be around anyone. He had plenty of friends.
But there was something special about being able to run away from everyone and everything. He loved being able to disappear in the blink of an eye without worrying about someone trying to keep up with him.
He got to live his life the way he wanted. It was his favorite thing.
And then he met Tails.
He's always thought he wasn't fit to be part of a family. He had never been able to find someone who could even remotely keep up with him, so he didn't bother trying to find a family.
But Tails was able to keep up. And he did so without ever asking Sonic to slow down so he could. He was fine running on the hedgehogā€™s time, no matter how tired it made him.
And now, as he watched the red echidna bury the small coffin that held his little brother, he couldn't help but hate how alone he was now.
The guardian had been the one to offer a place on Angel Island for him. A small, secluded area that he had previously decorated for when the kid decided to come visit.
Of course he wasn't literally alone. Knuckles, Amy, Shadow, and the rest of their friends were all there to say their final goodbyes to the little fox. But that didn't change the fact that it felt like a part of himself died.
He didn't know it when he first met the fox, but it truly felt like Tails filled in a hole in his heart that he hadn't known was missing. But now that the piece was ripped out of him, it was easy to notice.
He wasn't sure how much longer he'd last without that fox. Everyone knew it, there was no Sonic without Tails. They were inseparable.
But they had been ripped apart. Whatever tether that held their unbreakable bond had been snapped, forcing them to go their separate ways.
He just wishes it was him who was forced to lay in a grave too soon rather than his baby brother.
Tails didn't deserve it. The poor kid had been fighting every sort of battle imaginable since the moment he was born and he was only eight.
The universe had no right to take him now. Not when he fought so hard to survive. Not when he gave every last piece of himself to protect it.
He could still feel the phantom traces of his brother's blood soaking into his fingertips. He could still see the way the life inside his big, blue eyes faded.
He could still feel the way the little strength that Tails held left his body, forcing him to let go of the person who promised to keep him safe as he bled out in his arms.
This was Sonic's fault.
ā€”
Sonic wasn't sure why he ran.
To be perfectly honest, he hadn't even known he ran until he nearly greeted the Tornado with a very aggressive accidental kiss.
He wasn't sure what to do with her now. He could never be able to take care of the Tornado half as well as Tails did. And while he wasn't a bad pilot by any means, he knew he wasn't the best either. (That title went to the fox that now slept in the ground, his cold body protected by the dirt surrounding his coffin.)
He'd need to figure out what to do with the Cyclone as well. He didn't have a clue on how to pilot that one, it was quite a bit more complex than the Tornado.
After he was done sadly staring at the red biplane, Sonic hopped into the cockpit.
The lingering smell of mint is what finally broke him.
One of the few ways he could tell his brother was sneaking up on him was the way he smelled. It was always a migraine-inducing minty aroma, the scent of his favorite candy clinging to the fox's fur.
As strong as the smell was, it was comforting. It was how he reminded himself of the day he'd finally got that kid to believe he wasn't going to hurt him.
The first time that Tails ever had mint candy. Or, well, candy in general.
Sonic will never forget the way his eyes lit up, shining practically as bright as stars do when he put that first piece of candy in his mouth. And even though he was offered sweeter candies that kids his age normally enjoyed, he was firm in only eating the mint ones.
It was strange, but it was such a small thing then that it didn't really matter to Sonic. He didn't care what the kid liked to eat as long as he ate something. Even if it did have a painfully strong smell.
Sonic didn't bother with trying to wipe away his tears. Why should he, anyways? It was his brother's funeral for Chaosā€™ sake. He should be allowed to cry. (That didn't erase how pathetic and disgusted he felt. Did he really deserve to mourn his brother when he's the reason there's a funeral in the first place?)
He didn't get long to ponder it when something gently touched him.
It admittedly scared the shit out of him, but he knew exactly who it was before even looking towards them.
ā€œI don't mean to interrupt your grieving,ā€ Knuckles said guilty, his voice barely above a whisper. ā€œBut I wanted to let you know that you're welcome to stay on Angel Island with him.ā€
Sonic's not really sure if ā€˜staying with himā€™ is the right way to word this situation, but he's also not sure what the correct wording is so he decides to settle on a numb nod. He doesn't trust his voice to carry any sort of conversation right now.
Knuckles didn't say anything after that, but he also didn't move from where he was crouched atop the Tornadoā€™s wing. The silence wasn't necessarily awkward, but it kept Sonic on edge.
ā€œI know I'm not the best to talk to about emotions,ā€ The echidna mumbled, running a paw through his quills as he spoke, ā€œbut I know what it's like to lose family. If you need help with grieving, you can ask.ā€
Despite the situation, Sonic managed to smile at the older mobian. He appreciated the offer a lot, and he knew he'd probably take him up on it whether he actually wanted to or not.
ā€œI'll leave you be now.ā€ The guardian said quietly before jumping off of the biplaneā€™s wings. ā€œIf you wish to be alone from everyone, you can go into my cave.ā€
Sending the echidna a thumbs up made Sonic want to die. He was assaulted by the memories of when he and Tails first met the echidna. Back when he was unable to verbally speak, forced to hold conversations through expressions alone.
He wanted to scream, but his throat was throbbing from all the crying. He knows he should at least go see his friends, but he can't bring himself to look at any of them right now.
He decides to leave for Knucklesā€™ house when he feels his communicator buzz.
He gets to the cave on muscle memory alone, his mind occupied by playing the past four years on a sped up loop.
He felt insane. He would tell someone without a doubt that he's known Tails for forever, but it had only been four years since they met.
It wasn't until he collapsed on Knucklesā€™ bed that Sonic decided to check the message he received, not surprised to see it from Amy.
He didn't have it in him to fully read through the heartfelt message, but it was easy to understand from just skimming through it.
He figured responding to her message was the least he could do to keep her and the other from worrying about him right now.
He wasn't fine, and everyone knew that, but being around his closest friends and family wouldn't help right now.
The only thing that could help him was his little brother, but that wasn't in the cards for him. Not anymore. It's warm in the small cave, but Sonic still shivers as he curls into a ball.
He doesn't think he'll ever be warm again. Not when he felt his baby brother's body slowly grow cold.

HEHEHHWHEE imagine the bau team hunting down a serial killer not knowing its their OWN PARTNERRRR imma use hotch as an example cuz dilfšŸ˜«šŸ˜«šŸ˜©šŸ˜©šŸ˜©
no real warnings tbh just that reader is a serial killer
i think that he would literally never ever guess it was you. this unsub has been taunting the team, they'd get close and then, the MOMENT they think they're getting close... you're gone (kinda). cuz technically you're still around yk. you're going on dates with aaron, taking care of jack during emergencies, etc. but your serial killer hobbies are in hiatus.
aaron would talk about it with you too. he knows he's not supposed to tell you about the case, but sometimes he gets so frustrated with the case and you lend him an ear yk.
you hide it well, but every time he talks to you about the case. you feel giddy knowing how well you've stumped the great bau.
aaron would never suspect you. you're a great partner, a great parent, he loves you. i mean, every night he holds you talking about how much he loves you. you're the sunshine on his rainy day. all of this distracts you, keeps you on haitus for a long time maybe even permenantly. he tells you that he's planning on quitting the bau. that lets you relax, truly putting your hobbies to rest.
"i think i'm going to take the offer..." aaron says, leaning against the counter, watching you cook dinner.
"hmm? which offer?" you look over at him, in his tight shirt and baggy pants.
"to resign." he laughs and pushing his hair back with one hand. "i want to be here... with you and jack. i want to focus on being a father... and a husband." he looks away and you smile at his bashfulness.
"i'm happy with whatever decision you chose to make, aaron. you're stuck with me."
then he proposes, you're elated. every thing is perfect. you have an amazing fiance, an amazing (almost) step-son. the entire bau is there when he proposes. every single thing is perfect... except that aaron isn't quitting. he's staying at the bau with them. he's staying with them. even after he promised you that he'd quit.
"you told me... you told me that you'd quit." you pace around the living room.
"i know. i'm sorry, but the team needs me." aaron looks at you, eyes filled with guilt.
"we need you, aaron! me and jack! we need you." you feel tears roll down your cheeks.
"(y/n)..." he tries to reach out to you and you back away. he stops, hurt.
"i need some air." you leave, kissing jack good-bye.
you were gone for a week, and in that week, two people had died.
"something on your mind, aaron?" rossi put a hand on his shoulder. aaron sat in his office, staring at the picture of the three of you on a picnic.
"i'm not sure... since (y/n)'s been gone, two people have died and... i noticed this last time too." aaron puts his head in his hands.
"what do you mean?" rossi sits down.
"i-i'm not sure. last time too, we had a fight and they left and- and people died." the dots start to connect, but rossi shakes his head.
"aaron, you don't really think-"
"no. no, i'm sure i'm just imagining it."
"i think you should listen to strauss. the stress from scratch, the new unsub, everything..." rossi trails off.
"i know... i know, i'll think about it."
of course, aaron calls your parents and they say you've been with them the entire time. so he lets it go, but it stays on his mind even when you were back. you'd be sleeping in the same bed and he'd look at you and wonder... could you be a killer? but you'd pull him into a kiss and he'd fall for your warmth once more. you knew he had his suspicions, rossi told you himself. he said he was "worried" that you should "convince him to resign. it'll be good for the both of you". and you did just that. you moved up the wedding, you sent out the invitations, you did everything to distract him from his suspicions and work.
when you walk down the aisle, you see all his suspicions melt as tears fall from his eyes. you feel a grin creep up your face, you did it. you had him for yourself.
"i, aaron hotchner, take (y/n) to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us part"

sort of in response to that one ask about doll not being 'uzi if she never met n.'
both her and uzi were changed through grief and disconnect from their peers even if it showed in different ways. both of them have themes of loneliness & both of them have an intense festering hatred that fuels their motivations.
the difference between them is that through the connections that uzi formed after being forced into a situation where she had to open up, she deterred herself from the path she was slowly going down.
like her quote en quote villain arc was stopped before it started because of the connection she formed with N but doll never had that.
doll refused to form connections despite the chances she was given because it happened too late. her anger festered for so long that she wasn't able to make a comeback. her hubris was her downfall. she became the very thing she sought to destroy.
the point of promening and her 'hypocritical murder plan' was that she was so blinded by her anger and hatred, she didn't really think too far about the logics of her plan; she probably fantasized killing v and then took the first chance she could to actually do it.
she has some kind of tunnel vision, focusing on her goals until she's gotten them; no matter the cost, no matter who or what she has to get through. (another similarity between her and uzi, imo.)
Uzi basically stated "hey we should stop fighting cause there's bigger shit at play and we can deal with it better if we team up" and Doll responded with "No I can do this on my own also die"
sort of. imagine you spend years upon years seething and imagining ways you're going to kill this sky demon that killed your parents in front of you and lead to the activation of a virus that has plagued you for years since that point. you have to actively kill and eat people from a young age & you are alone in your struggles; presumably the singular person who is aware of them finds your trauma humorous to an extent, and even if she sticks by your side, you feel like she doesn't really get it. i reiterate; you are alone in your struggles.
one day, you finally get your chance. you fantasize this moment for years, to the point where it becomes the only plausible solution to your problems. you don't plan it out thoroughly, because you know the universe will deal its hand correctly and allow you catharsis after years of festering that hatred. it finally happens. you have her in your sights, you have her pinned, she knows who you are now and you're about to kill her, to inflict all the pain on her you have wanted to for years; no matter who may have gotten in your way, you will have this, it's all you want, its all you HAVE wanted.
and then someone stops you. she tells you some things that if you were in a clearer mind, you would have thought deeper about, but you're so fucking angry right now and you want her to get out of the way. you don't listen.
you fight. you lose. you come back.
she has the same virus as you. you're not alone anymore. and that's when the conflicting feelings start. but despite that start, they never quite come to any meaningful conclusion because you have more important things to do. perhaps she inspired you a little to understand that the fate of the planet is more important than your fantasy for revenge, but you're so set in your ways you can't quite admit it yet. and again; when you get that chance again, to enact revenge, you take it.
and in the end, it ruined her & she died. she died as she lived; alone.
essentially, 'doll is uzi if she never met n' doesn't mean that exactly; it means doll is uzi if she never formed meaningful connections. the friends she had in school don't count in my eyes. literally the very first proper interaction we see between her and lizzy is lizzy playing doll's traumatic experience off as a joke. no hate towards lizzy also just to specify i love them as friends i just don't think it is on the same level of healthy as n and uzis friendship is?
okay.. i can't add any more to this it's so fucking long also it's 1 am GOODNIGHT i hope this doesn't look weird or aggressive

Give meq tgat fefat <> roxy stuffff please
alright bear with me for a second i gotta paint a word picture
imagine youre roxy lalonde, right.
you just entered the game. youve got a bottle of momslime. your modus was literally built to hold ectobiologized goo. youve been feeling the weight of destiny on your shoulders -- YOU ARE GOING TO MEET HER. she might be dead but you are going to meet her.
and you get to your sprite,
and theres just
a fucking
CLOWN
and two corpses that he throws into the kernel.
(the first homestuck fic i ever read, Conference Call, has a version of the erisolsprite prototyping. they fought gamzee and got their fuckin asses kicked. its great.)
and then youre left with just. Some Alien Bitch. and its like the universe is teasing you, because she's partially the DIRECT DESCENDANT of the fishwitch what killed your mom, and also a cat???? you are so sick to death of cats. you have been up to your fucking ass in cats. its just too much
and then she just. talks to you
and you slowly start to listen
you hear about her lives on alternia. what it was like being a princess, what it was like being the pauper. how they weren't even really friends, before -- they ran in different circles.
but they're one person, now. one person dedicated to *helping you.*
we never find out how roxy quit drinking, or who helped her through it
(it was fefeta)
and fefeta *loves* you. she listens to you talk about boys. you talk about your mom. fefeta never really spoke to her... but her nepeta half *knows what happened to your kitty frigglish* after he died. and frigglish said that your mom was okay.
that everything was going to be okay
and it's just. jane had her shit. jake was up in his shit. dirk had fucked off with his shit. and roxy really only had fefeta!!!!!!!!
and i think they were moirails and i think they loved each other so much. frankly. tbf.
roxy is a trans woman, fefeta is newly plural. they have a lot in common. tbqh. its like. its very beautiful. in my eyes. in my vision.
and then
she dies
and this is like. this is a really big fucking deal honestly?
fefeta's death is like. a huge thing. its one of the only things she tells john about when summarizing the entirety of her session.
Tumblr media
and this isnt something she magically gets back in the post-retcon timeline, either
like... when fefeta dies, there isnt a post-retcon fefeta. (we'll GET TO YOU JASPROSE.) it's just roxy who remembers fefeta's existence at all -- her friends dont have any connection to her. *nobody alive in all of reality* remembers her.
fefeta isnt just dead, dude, shes Fucking GONE. shes the goner ever. shes fuckin erased.
but honestly
on a level? good for her.
we've seen what being in homestuck does to people. it warps them, reshapes them. (see the new hsbc upd8 for some cool imagery about it.) fefetasprite was never a real part of the story. she got away with being silent -- her words are hidden from us. she was never in LE's clutches.
and why would LE even want to clutch her
she's the sword that's going to kill him, after all
:3
i call fefetasprite the "cat fish witch" for a very important reason. a) its cute BUT B). if you look at caledfwlch, dave's sword, and just sorta. squint at the word. it looks like cat fish witch. that's fefeta. she Iss the cat fish witch.
so what does her death mean?
Tumblr media
well it's not like dave used an UNBROKEN sword to fight LE.
feferi is the part of the sword still left in the stone. the part we forgot and left behind.
which leaves Nepeta, the other half of this broken sword, of the Cat Fish Witch
Tumblr media
to kill the shit out of Lord English. B33
the sword was always going to kill him!!!!!!!! fefetasprite was the sword!!!!!!!!!!! NEPETA WAS ALWAYS FATED TO DEFEAT LORD ENGLISH!!!! AM I CLINICALLY INSANE? YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway. all this to say.
i wrote a fic about this.
check out the second work in the series for roxy processing the emotions that none of her post-retcon friends remember her moirail. it's some good stuff i think!!!!!!! also hal is there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
anyway jasprose is just roxy's initial dream of reviving her mom in her kernelsprite brought to life through the most roundabout and indirect and stupid way possible. send POST

Then I guess you're a better person than me, Gojo!!
Because I hate Gege Akutami and I'm *very* angry on your behalf šŸ˜ƒ Iā€™m (sort of) kidding but damn... thoughts on 236 below the cut!!
I held off posting earlier because I felt like going scorched earth on everything jjk. I took some time to clear up some of the translations I wasn't sure about and let the reality sink in, and now I'm ready to talk about this chapter rationally lol.
Firstly, I wanna say that my issue with this chapter isnā€™t Gojo dying or even the way that he died. I always knew that Gojo dying was likely, but here?? Now???? I've spent all day turning it over in my mind and trying to make it work, but it just won't.
I think Gojo's 'delusion' (daydream? afterlife?) is really beautiful in isolation. Some of the dialogue is really touching and I think it'll benefit from the emotional impact delivered by the full translations. The problem is what follows.
After 235, people were nervous that Gojo hadn't actually won yet. I waited to see what some trusted translators thought of the editor's comment before deciding it was a conclusive win for Gojo, and what I read reassured me that the win would remain intact even if he died at some point over the course of December 24.
In the past couple of chapters, we were told that Sukuna was 'nervous' for the first time in 1000 years and he thought Hollow Purple at close range would be fatal. At the end of 235, Sukuna is looking pretty terrible while Gojo looks fresh as a daisy after fighting in inspiring, inventive ways throughout.
So to find out that, actually, he *hasn't* won and he's been killed by getting cut in half offscreen feels like shock value for the sake of shock value. There have been a few 'shock factor' moments during this fight and they've always bothered me a little, but I could excuse them for the sake of hype building in a weekly manga. However, I never anticipated anything on this level and I'm genuinely so disappointed.
I think this long-awaited fight ending this way cheapens Gojo's character *and* Sukuna's character (and Kashimo's character for that matter!), and ultimately makes the entire thing feel meaningless. 'Meaning' is the thread that has run through Gojo's entire arc, tying him back to Suguru as he sought to build a better world. I always felt certain that Gojo's life and death would have meaning, even if it ended tragically, but I just can't find the meaning in this. I think I understand what Gege was trying to do, but he really didn't sell it for me.
Thereā€™s nothing worse than when a story makes you feel stupid for getting invested, and thatā€™s how Iā€™m feeling right now. I find myself wondering, what was the point in bringing Gojo back at all??? Keep him in the box and very little changes in the story, unless it transpires that Gojo 'weakening' Sukuna for the students was his grand purpose after all which... really??
Even worse, I *always* said if it was between Gojo and the students, I wanted Gojo to die. Since 212, getting Megumi back has been my number one priority, but 236 has achieved what I previously thought impossible. I literally don't even want Megumi to come back anymore, because I just can't imagine how he could live with himself after 'killing' Tsumiki and Gojo. It seems kinder for him to die with Sukuna and I *never* thought I would say that.
I'm feeling like a real clown for the meta I posted after 235. I want to take it down because I was so certain that Gojo had won, but I won't because I don't believe my reading of Gojo's character was wrong. I just think my expectations were too high, even though I tried hard to temper them. Even so, telling Megumi about Toji being left to Shoko? Gojo losing and leaving his students to clean up the mess again?? Gojo not even *mentioning* his students in his dying daydream???
It all just feels wrong. Gojo has been turned into nothing more than a plot device at the absolute last second, and maybe it's on me for ever expecting that he would be anything more than that in a series where he isn't the main character, but why bother writing Hidden Inventory then? Why bother getting us invested in this man's story at all?
Right now, I'm feeling like I don't even want to watch tomorrow's episode, but I am interested to see whether Gege can pull this arc off in the long term. I've seen people talking about resurrection theories because of the enlightenment hints and, while I do see the vision, I think Gojo's acceptance of his death and letting go of his regrets can also be read as enlightenment as he escapes the mortal coil once and for all.
Gojo's dying bloody smile shows he's at least happy in his final moments, so my feeling is that Gojo is truly dead and gone. I really want to trust that Gege will make this work, but damn. This is a tragedy.
(Although, if Gojo actually is at peace in death, maybe that's the reason Gege will bring him back. He'll *never* let that man be happy, I swear.)
To end on a positive note, the SatoSugu crumbs were beautiful and teenage Gojo's facial expressions were wonderful. I'm crying again just thinking about the contrast of that last adorable smile with his blank expression on the next page.
I'm dropping all my canonverse WIPs and working exclusively on AU fics for the foreseeable future šŸ˜¤ I'm gonna give Gojo all the happy endings he deserves!!!
(fuck. poor poor shoko.)

an absurdist lens is SUCH a good one to use for bsd i feel like, seeing as how it came about because of the war and so many of bsd's characters were involved in the bsd great war.
what do you think of how the great war in bsd is written looking at it through an absurdist lens
(btw your analyses are so good and interesting i love reading them!!)
Ooh this is a really interesting ask! I'll admit that I don't know much about the great war, but war itself is such an inherently absurd concept. Like, you have some issue with another country/territory, so your conclusion is to start killing each other until one of the parties taps out? It's so weird when you think about it like this.
I think the best thing I can analyze with my current knowledge is Yosano's backstory. Because the soldiers Yosano treated were forced into this never-ending loop of horror and brutality, the war kept going and going, and I think this serves as a commentary on war and its absurdity.
Absurdist storytellers often exaggerate situations that already exist in our real world in order to bring to light just how ridiculous they are. For example, in Kafka's The Metamorphosis, Gregor Samsa wakes up as a gigantic bug, but is more concerned with the fact that he won't be able to attend work and provide for his family than finding an explanation for his circumstances. This is likely commentary on how our capitalist society forces workers to overlook their own physical wellbeing for the sake of attempting to live off of inadequate wages.
In a similar way, Asagiri does this with the concept of war, exaggerating it by forcing this group of soldiers and Yosano into this literal vicious cycle that traumatizes both parties time and time again. Living through the horror of war once is already bad enough, but imagine if you had to do it hundreds of times, wouldn't that be awful? A soldier that's been healed that many times over will have seen many more people die and killed more people than if they just died. Yosano as a nurse has to treat so, so many suffering people, and she's only like 11 at the time. And yet, isn't this what we're doing by forcing generation after generation to fight these wars because of the conflicts we keep making? It makes you question why the idea of a war even exists in the first place.
Even with the current arc we see it. The hunting dogs are military, and they're the villains! Yes, all of them but Fukuchi are misguided, but it's commentary about corruption in systems of power that are supposed to be protecting us. I'd also say Jouno and the satisfaction he derives from torture is probably some sort of commentary on police brutality. Hell, in the latest chapter, we're 30 seconds away from a nuclear warhead destroying Yokohama. If there's one thing that's completely absurd in our modern world, it's nuclear weapons that are literally world-ending.
Anyway! Anon! If you want to tell me more about the war, I'd be happy to try to analyse it based on what information you can give me, but also no pressure. I'm just worried I didn't really answer your question, but I did the best I could! I'm glad you enjoy my silly little rants :)

I think what I loved about "Tomb Patrol" more than anything is how Rita, Larry, Jane, and Cliff escaped the fate of the old Doom Patrol seen back in Season 1. They beat Mr. Nobody and kept their sanity intact. They also learned the truth of what Niles Caulder did to them and instead of becoming worthless and placed into a make believe retirement home, they survived and lived to eat his head and outlive the guy who was so obsessed with immortality and living one day longer than his daughter.
The old Doom Patrol seen in season one were just as aged as the one seen in "Tomb Patrol," only that team is utterly broken and can't even enjoy the time they have left if they wanted to. I wonder if Rita thought of the state of Mento and the others when she reached her geriatric state and started breaking down.
The biggest reason Rita wanted everybody to come to dinner is because Cliff, Larry, and Jane are quite literally her only family. They're all she has. Every person related to her is either dead or wouldn't believe that she's still alive, given she's a film star from the fifties. The most important part of the episode was Rita finally voicing that the Doom Patrol are all she has. They're her family and that one line suddenly makes her wanting to be the team leader and why it was so important to her all clear. She wanted to work to keep her family together after the death of Niles Caulder.
The moment with the four geriatric Doom Patrol members sitting in the living room, reminiscing about their adventures was the sweetest scene of the entire season. They forgot all about their problems and impending doom for just a few moments and simply enjoyed each others' company. They didn't become angry or confused or sad or broken like the Doom Patrol before them. They sat in the living room and shared a loving moment like a real family. Even when Rita collapsed, the other three agreed to go to the play for her sake. I loved Cliff's line when they make the decision to go: "We have to. It's Rita." For all of their dysfunction, once they saw that she was in real trouble, her fellow Doomies rushed to her aide and said, "Let's whoop some ass. For her." Those moments are what make a dysfunctional family worth rooting for. That no matter how much they may bicker and fight and disagree, they always find their way back to each other and look after each other when shit gets serious.
This version of the Doom Patrol is the best example of the team being a found family since Rachel Pollack's run back in the 90s. They've been through hell and back, but they can still sit in a living room and laugh about it. They were ready to face death together with love and laughter about eating Niles Caulder's head. Rita tells Mento before she leaves: "All I know isā€¦ I don't want to end up like you. Or Arani, or Rhea." This episode confirmed that she didn't end up like them. None of them did. If Rita Farr is truly dead, then she died surrounded by the people who loved her most who rushed to her body to help her without a second thought. At the end of the day, this show is about a bunch of freaks who love each other and that love has overcome the strangest and most bizarre forms of hell imaginable.
The Doom Patrol is marching towards death in the same way that the show is marching towards death with only two episodes left to go. No matter how it all ends, this show will always be special to me.

Be advised, before y'all send your angry asks, these are my opinions, angry opinions but that's all they are, you're free to have your own, that doesn't mean we have to fight about it. Different people will have different opinions. Let's all just enjoy the show we love.

Finally! My heart knows peace! Ughhg I've been so so pissed at the writers and Eddie for being such an absolute Akshat to Shannon.
Eddie himself has never been present for Shannon. Literally or metaphorically. He left for his deployment a week after Christopher was born.
He left his newborn child and his wife alone, granted it was his job. But what if she had postpartum depression like Maddie? Even without that we see how hard it is to care for a newborn child as a couple when Chimney and Maddie had Jeeyun, even with Albert and Anne's help they were overwhelmed. Yes Shannon's mother and Eddie's fault was there but he was the father. Fine, let's leave that.
He wasn't there even Christopher was diagnosed with Cerebral Palsy. Shannon raised her son alone, imagine how scared and broken she must have felt when he was diagnosed, we see how terrified Maddie was when Jeeyun had a fever. But the writers completely disregard anything when it comes to Shannon.
After Christopher was diagnosed, Eddie ran away by enlisting again when he was supposed to be coming home, which he himself admitted, without telling Shannon.
And that scene of him, refusing and asking her to soothe a crying baby Christopher while she's literally telling him he shouldn't be a fucking stranger to his own kid? He looks at her like it's a punishment, don't anybody dare say he was overwhelmed, she was way beyond overwhelmed and he was basically refusing to be a goddammit father to his own kid. As if it was her responsibility alone to take care of the child that she had WITH HIM.
Her mother was dying from cancer, fucking cancer and he didn't even try to comfort her, at all. When she asked him to leave, he used that his family was gathered to celebrate his return as a reason that they can't leave now, no he said it wouldn't look good so they shouldn't leave now, not even you go first we'll catch up, he didn't even want her to go, he just wanted her to stay and take care of Christopher and him while he can go be a hero. Her mother was dying from relapsing cancer and he didn't even care.
What on earth did he think was going to happen? Was he expecting Shannon to wait until her mom was dead?
He had some right to be upset when she left, some. But he had to have seen that coming with now dismissive he's been of her feelings, and that her mother was fucking dying and he didn't want to leave Texas so she can take care of her and he has the audacity to blame her for it.
The fact that he was never been there for her for Christopher's diagnosis of CP, or after, to comfort HER, imagine how hard that must have been on her, alone, her mother battling cancer on one side, her child have cerebral palsy on another side and her husband never being present? Can't imagine how family was very keen to console her with the way they speak of her even after Shannon's death.
I imagine Shannon's mother died in the two years she was gone from Eddie and Christopher's lives, if the show mentioned it directly I might have missed it. But the point is Shannon had to LEAVE her child with his father so he can FINALLY start being a FATHER, and she dealt with her mother's battle and succumbing to cancer, ALONE. With no one to turn to, she was an orphan, even when she had a so called husband and a son.
And when she comes back what does Eddie do? He tries to keep her away from seeing her child like she's the one who's done all the sins. He waited and she never came back and he's mad at her for it? Oh did it ever even occur to him that there's another option, that maybe he could, you know, visit her? Maybe? Would it have killed him to do so? Would his entire family die if he like VISITED, not even moved but visited her, ONCE? He was oh so ready to up and leave Texas to Los Angeles when it for him but not when Shannon HAD TO?
The DOUBLE STANDARD here is off the charts.
He only calls her when he needs her to admit Christopher to school, he never tried to contact her before that, he never TRIED ANYTHING, from his end to fix their relationship that he himself broke piece by piece by breaking Shannon piece by piece.
Don't even get me started on once she comes back, and gracefully does what is needed for Christopher, because she fucking loves her child. And is even willing to apologize to him for what she did when he's the only one who should be apologizing.
But no an apology is not enough for him, he keeps her away from Christopher, he makes her beg him to let her see her own child, he doesn't even have custody over him. He justifies it by saying she abandoned them both? Then what the fuck was it that Eddie did when he reenlisted the moment Christopher was diagnosed? He himself admits later to Buck I think that that was him running away. And yet be has the audacity to punish Shannon for it? When she's the only one who stayed the whole time? Before being forced to leave to care for her dying mother, alone because whiny Eddie doesn't want to leave Texas and his family, boohoo.
Eddie makes it all about Christopher, he sure loves to hear that he's a good father when in truth he didn't even know the first letter of the word before he forced Shannon to leave Christopher with him. Eddie only started being a father to him AFTER SHANNON LEFT.
Eddie then "somehow ends up with her in bed" every time they talk, oh yeah somehow and he doesn't know how it happened at all. But when Shannon thinks that this, him taking her to his bed each time is him finally stopping gatekeeping her from her own child, he has the audacity to the ask if SHE thinks it's a transaction, that she sleeps with him and he let's her see HER SON, I'm sorry sir what the fuck else would she think? When her husband suddenly starts bedding her, of course she thought he finally let her back into her own fucking marriage. But no he just wants the sex but he wants her to stay away from her son cause she deserves to be punished for her sins, which he has committed teen folds.
But no she apologizes again. And he acts like he such a saint and it's a huge sacrifice that he's doing for his son when he FINALLY lets her see her son, that too only after Christopher asks, so no matter how long she kept begging him to let her see Christopher, he wouldn't have, but he sure would have loved to have sex with her the whole time. How is that not him taking advantage of his power over her, which is access to Christopher and using it to use her body. That's manipulation.
He loves Christopher, that's obvious, but it's also obvious that he doesn't even like Shannon but wants her body and wants her to always take care of Christopher and do nothing else ever.
He never once asked Shannon how she was feeling, he never once cared, to ask that. Not even Christopher was diagnosed, not when her mother had a cancer relapse, not when she came back for Christopher's school after her mother's death, he didn't ask her anything about her at all, about how she was feeling, as a result of his actions. She vouched for the ask admittance, that's it. He asked her to sneak out of his bed after having sex, by deceiving her, so that their son wouldn't see her, Christopher didn't even know she was in the same city as them. Eddiegot his sex from her, that's it, now she should leave and not be seen by their son, he got what he wanted and that's all that matters to him. She should never expect anything back for it, she could never, even when she desparately needed him, he didn't give her anything, he abandoned her first, again and again, he expected her to be always a wife and a mother but he was never a husband to her, he wasn't even a father until she left, she was alone in her marriage, Shannon was a married single mom. What pisses me of more is that he used their son to do it, he used their son to punish her, and when she asked for a divorce because he's a fucking shitty, absent, negligent husband who won't give her anything other than sex, he had the gall to be offended and angry at her for it, even after she died.
Of course the writers killed her off, she's better off dead than being married to him.
In season 5 I think, he finally brings her up and the fact that he kept her away from their son, he says he thought did it to protect Christopher, cause he didn't want him to be hurt by his mom leaving again but she didn't want to leave, she wanted them to come with her but who said no to that? Oh no must be someone else. He continues saying to he was really don't it to protect himself? Seriously? I wanted to reach into the screen and bang his head against the table. If anyone needed protecting in their marriage it was Shannon, from his emotional negligence and later manipulation by using Christopher to use her body.
Don't get me started on his dating Ana, she was amazing, in general and to Christopher, and to Eddie, which he didn't deserve one bit. Some people find this storyline boring and I agree but that's not the point. He was so sweet to Ana, so caring to not overload her or overexpect from her, I don't remember which episode it was or what it was about but Eddie said something like I don't want to spring that on you or something that essentially translated to I don't want to ask you to do that cause you shouldn't have to and it wasn't even a big thing. Yes she was his new girlfriend and all but he has never showed even 5% of that care or concern for Shannon, he never had a problem expecting anything and everything from her. He settled with Ana cause she was taking care of Christopher and him, he wants a girl to take care of him, perform her womanly duties while he lounged and prided himself on how great a father he is.
I can't say the writers don't know how to write a healthy relationship either. Cause Chim and Maddie, Athena and Bobby? Especially Athena and Bobby, cause when Athena's father gets into that accident? Bobby drops everything to go with Athena to go visit and stay with her in her parents house and supports her, granted he was already packed and prepared to leave for the vacation, but he left a very well deserved vacation to go support not only Athena but also her parents in their time of need, even when Athena's mom being very rude. if Eddie had been in Bobby's place he not only would have not cared and thrown a tantrum over how he didn't want to leave his vacation but would've also tried to stop his wife from going to check on her parent at all. That is if Eddie hadn't already guilt tripped Shannon into distancing from her rude mother had she been anything like Athena's, he would have thrown an even bigger victim tantrum about how he didn't deserve it and deserved better, nevermind the dying parent.
So the writers do know how to write a healthy relationship, even one that has problems, the couples overcome them. Eddie was just an undeserving asshole to Shannon. Who deserved far far better than she ever got with Eddie. Christopher deserved his mother, not his father gatekeeping him from her while having sex with her and asking her to sneaking out like a thief.
He's never once shown to realize any of this, how this was all wrong, how much of a double standard he had been utilising, how shitty of a husband he was, how he basically ruined her life. He's shown to be the poor victim who was abandoned by his wife and had to raise his special son alone, nevermind this was of his own engineering from all the negligent husband moves he pulled. Yes he's the victim of course.

Hi, me again, the one with the future donnie and leo ideas with more cause why not
Just wanted to jot down some UC (unnamed child/character) and Casey Jr cousin behavior as theyā€™re raised by different ā€œdadsā€ (Leo being Caseyā€™s and Donnie being UCā€™s)
(Again, do whatever you want with this info)
The two deciding to put on a performance so their dads will let them have a sleep over despite literally living with each other (they leaned from April cousins used to dance in order to get what they want)
UC bringing back trinkets they get from going on scavenger hunts with Donnie and Casey keeping them all in a box
Casey bringing back any books heā€™s able to find while going on patrols with Leo for UC (sometimes theyā€™re a little you know ripped and muddy but psh book is book)
Apocalypse training! The cousins are a deadly duo and the twins couldnā€™t be more proud, almost seeing themselves in their kids (#theygrowupsofast #soontheyā€™llbekillingsomemonsters #couldntbemoreproudofthekids)
Elaborating more on that, they sometimes canā€™t train in the same room, especially when they were younger and couldnā€™t grasp the severity in training so theyā€™d goof when the adults werenā€™t looking (some angst possibilities here). Either that or they did manage to grasp their situation fairly quickly and adapted their mindsets to learn the techniques they were being taught faster (#childhoodGONE)
Almost never go on patrols separately. You will have to PULL them apart if you want to take one and leave the other (only exception if itā€™s with one of their family members but if theyā€™re assigned to different groups the two HAVE to go together)
Tried making a blood pact once (ā€œits a blood pact, we go down togetherā€) *cue the twins scooping up their respective kid before they can actually go through with it*
I imagine UC asking Donnie for help to make a music box for Casey Jr after he lost his mom (April helped)
Them actually getting better at dancing and sometimes theyā€™ll be dancing around their rooms despite there not being any music because theyā€™re cool like that
Sneaking into Donnieā€™s lab in order to see what kinds of shenanigans heā€™s doing in there
Getting caught sneaking into Donnieā€™s lab in order to see what kinds of shenanigans heā€™s doing in there (#worthit)
UC imagining making the weirdest shit only to actually put those thoughts into action and drags Casey Jr along too
UC, holding a blueprint: So, I have an idea for a new weapon. It's a combination of a laser gun and a grenade launcher.
Casey Jr: That sounds dangerous.
Cousin: Exactly! It's perfect for taking out a whole group of Kraang soldiers at once!
Casey Jr: *raises an eyebrow* And what if we accidentally blow ourselves up?
Cousin: *holding up a wrench like itā€™s a sword* Then we'll go out in a blaze of glory!
Casey Jr: I prefer to not go out at all, thank you very muchā€¦
The two doing their best to sneak up on Leo despite him catching them everytime (literally. Heā€™d probably turn around last second and grab them scaring them instead of the other way around like the two planned)
Ganging up on people. Like what do you mean UC is not getting taller? Youā€™re wrong! Yeah tell em Casey Jr! (No one is safe)
UC rambling about more in depth science stuff and Casey Jr just šŸ§šŸ‘ (I have a feeling that he is good at science because..Donnie, but since UC is mechanically inclined and was raised directly by Donatello theyā€™re just WOOO you know?)
April and Mikey setting up little forts for them and the four just hang around giggling and rolling around like four puppies
Casey Jr doing his best for his cousin after Donnie died, leaving behind all his work to be carried on by his kid, and reminds them that they can share the burden of being the backbone of the resistance
Getting into petty fights with each other over something small like, who gets the last piece scrap metal idk
Thinking about angst scenarios where one of them is too far to reach the other (who is in danger) and they get hurt badly and then having to quickly get them back home and explain what happened
Another angsty scenario eating away at me is one of them is forced to take a different route than expected when patrolling and they lose contact with the base. The panic and chaos that would happenā€¦
Wowwwwww!!! Iā€™m in shock, future anon you sent me hcs šŸ˜šŸ¤
Honestly though UC sounds so cool/cute scenarios where Casey Jr. has someone around his age and Donnie basically has his own kid šŸ˜˜šŸ¤Œ just mwah, love it!!! I just had to post this even though I donā€™t have much to add just tot this was super duper cute ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø

i literally just discovered this blog today and it encouraged me to give shape to this idea :3
meet camille arkright, the most hardworking girl in town! born april 26th, taurus: the resilient nature. catchphrase: ā€œall work, no play! ā€¦ okay, a little bit of play!ā€
> sheā€™s french-canadian, and lives with her grandfather whoā€™s now quite old. he spends most of his time sleeping; camille only wakes him up to take his meds and eat dinners (when he can stomach it). as such, sheā€™s had to work a lot of part-time jobs to keep them afloat, hence her title of ā€œmost hardworking girl in town.ā€
> since sheā€™s always tired, she does quite poorly in school, which is why ocean so kindly ā€œtook her under her wingsā€ so to speak. camille eventually joined the choir, and unfortunately rode the cyclone.
when she was still alive, camille loved the choir (and ocean herself despite her attitude) because it represented her only escape from her daily life; it was the first group she was really apart of in a long while. it made her life more bearable.
i imagine camille probably spent a lot of time around ocean and constance, but i think she really wanted to be closer to the others but didnā€™t quite know how to. sheā€™s a little awkward in social situations!
on one hand, itā€™s really a shame that they all died, but on the other, it did gave her the opportunity to really connect with themā€¦
> i think her song would be about what sheā€™d do if she suddenly became extremely rich; if her hard work really paid off. sheā€™d get a nice house, her grandfather could get perfect care, people would want her around more oftenā€¦ itā€™s those kind of dreams that allowed her to keep going no matter how tiring everything was.
and some random things iā€™ve thought of:
> would let ricky draw her fursona. in fact, camille would think about it long and hard about it and give him clear ideas on what sheā€™d want.
> has always believed that mischaā€™s beloved was real and admired their relationship a lot. wondered if sheā€™d ever find something like that. if sheā€™d even have timeā€¦
> speaking of mischa, she also thinks he is very cool and awesome. might have a bit of a crush on him, though sheā€™d probably be very hesitant to mention it for many reasons ghdks
> secretely loves seeing noel and ocean fight. itā€™s just really entertaining (Ā“āˆ€ļ½€*)
> constance taught her how to bake :)
iā€™m in the car right now so i canā€™t draw her but iā€™ll probably do more with her because >:3 i love what i came up with hehehe
and hereā€™s a picrew:
Tumblr media
thank you for reading all my ramblings, and iā€™ll finish this up by telling you that this blog is really awesome and that i love seeing everyoneā€™s ocs!!! :D
ā€” paimon (they/them)
AWW the sweetest everrr šŸ˜ i love her so much i see her getting along with a lot of the other ocs in the uraniumverse

2 - 57 The Checkmate Murder
I am sincerely running out of intros
Tumblr media
pretending to be okay, still crying inside
DON'T READ THE EPISODES WITHOUT READING THE BOOKS!!
Irratino has to stop fooling around and find his Logico. But his search is getting darker. Literally, heā€™s following a trail of blood undergroundā€¦ And what he finds is beyond shocking.Ā
TANGERINE: Took you long enough. Come step inside.
They open giant double doors to revealā€¦ a totally illegal fighting ring!! And not just any fightingā€¦ CHESSBOXING!!!
Irratino feels his heart sink. Logico would die to attend something like this! But hopefullyā€¦ not literally. The trail of blood leads to some human in the stands, but Irratino barely has time to pay attention to that!!
NAVY: Folksā€¦ I imagine youā€™ve been waiting a LONG time for this. This match will not only guarantee the owner of the championship belt, but also who lives and dies. Iā€™ve delayed 15 boats to be here, so itā€™d better be a showā€¦
Charcoal bumps into Irratino.
IRRATINO: You again? CHARCOAL: Yeahā€¦ but this time I came here on purpose! Chess is only interesting when you throw boxing into it.
Irratino canā€™t disagree. But he does need to figure out who murdered the human in the stands that no oneā€™s paying attention to.
NAVY: The finalists are approaching. On one side of the board, The Huminator.
A man enters the ring.
TANGERINE: GO FUCK YOURSELF! NAVY: He may not be the same human from the last round, and if he isnā€™t, no one would be able to tell. But on the right side of the board, orā€¦ left, depending on where youā€™re sitting, is The Amazing Aureolin.
Auree comes out in a face shield and gloves!
AUREOLIN: FOR THE SMALLER ONES OUT THEREā€¦
Her triplets scream with awe. Irratino rubs his eyes. What the hell is going on?? And why isnā€™t Logico here to see itā€¦
CHARCOAL: Dangā€¦ Logico would really love this. I wonder where he is.
This is the last straw. Irratino has to solve this mini murder!
NAVY: Let the matchā€¦ begin!
Thereā€™s a boring part where they play chess. But when the whistle blows, Auree and the human punch each other violently.
TANGERINE: KNOCK HIS HEAD OFF. BREAK HIS JAW!! SNAP HIS NECK!!!
Proving that non-binary people can be murderers too, Tangerine is a complete psychopath.
NAVY: Oh, I already see a blood spill. CHARCOAL: This is so amazing, oh my god. Look what I got!
He holds up boxing gloves.
IRRATINO: Fromā€¦ where? CHARCOAL: The ring! IRRATINO: HOW?!
Now Irratino has them too.
CHARCOAL: Practice against me. I gotta get in there! IRRATINO: NO!!
The real boxers have lost their gloves, so after the next chess move, the hits are hitting harder. Without gloves, boxing is just a fistfight. Aureolin loses a tooth! And the Huminator almost loses an eye. Irratino has no time to process the violence, because he gets a voicemail from Logico!
LOGICO: Hey Tino! If you get this, I want you to know that Iā€™m okay, but you should really reach out to the Reds. More importantly, OH MY GOD!!! I found this INSANE chessboxing match on TV, and guess whoā€™s fighting. THE AMAZING AUREOLIN! Isnā€™t that insane? I canā€™t believe she played the Kingā€™s Gambit in the middle of a boxing ring!Ā
Irratino doesnā€™t know how to feel. Logico doesnā€™t seem to be taking this very seriously. But at least heā€™s alright. Irratino canā€™t handle the separation for much longer, thoughā€¦Ā
IRRATINO: Hey, wait a second! [to Charcoal] You killed that human!
Instead of crying, Charcoal chuckles, which is disturbing.
CHARCOAL: He owed me money and he didnā€™t pay. What was I supposed to do?
Irratino thinks of broke little Logico in his jail cell. Could his kidnapping have to do with money?
IRRATINO: Logicoā€¦Ā  CHARCOAL: Wā€¦ waitā€¦ you think Iā€¦ you think I killed Logico? IRRATINO: N-no CHARCOAL: I couldā€¦ I could never kill Logico!! [crying fit]
There it is. Irratino may have solved another one, but heā€™s not any closer to Gico than he was yesterday. But hey, at least Aureolin won the match!
AUREOLIN: And if anyone asks, that doesnā€™t count as a murder!
The end!Ā
I fucking love aureolin omg
the chessboxing debut!!!! Logico gets revenge on Irratino for seeing a movie without him by calling him just to yap about what was on TV
Tumblr media
The power of Goat Lord compels you!
See you next time murdlers!

I'm still taking a break from aeon Theo, but I was going through my random untitled documents and found what I wrote about his first night ever in Drezen and I need to tell someone about this.
Cw: sort of suicidal ideation (of the "determined to go out in a blaze of glory" variety)
So Theo is tiny, even for a gnome - like, based on the 1e height tables, it shouldn't be possible for a male gnome to be as small as he is. He's closer to average halfling height than average gnome height because childhood malnutrition is a bitch. But what this means is that he gets to Mendev, and literally none of the crusader orders will take him, Steve Rogers style.
But Theo doesn't really have anywhere else to go. His library burned down and his home is in the middle of a civil war and he ran away. He can't bear to go back and face the people he tried to abandon - especially not the kids. So when none of the orders in Kenabres will take him, he decides to go to Drezen on his own and convince someone there to let him fight.
In the end, he arrives in Drezen a couple of years before the Second Crusade and impresses Staunton Vhane (by punching him really hard after Staunton laughs at the idea of him being a crusader). Staunton tries to get Theo a position in the garrison, but Commander Verstol is like "aw, I love the enthusiasm, little guy, but this is no place for a little fella like you!" Staunton immediately goes Qui-Gon Jinn mode and is like "Theo is now my squire!" Which is the only reason Theo is allowed to join the crusade (and is also funny because Staunton is a paladin and Theo is godless so it's really not a good match).
Here's the part that made me go like "I need to post about this": before Staunton pulls the squire uno reverse big brain plan, Theo is already planning what he's going to do now that this hasn't worked out. And his plan was to try to join the Hellknights. Because, yes, he hates them, and he'd be a terrible hellknight, but the idea of going home after running away when home needed him most is so awful to him that he'd rather be a massive hypocrite and try to make himself into something he hates (or at least pretend he's trying long enough to die heroically).
And now I'm imagining an AU where Theo does join the hellknights and his mentor is one of the original five of the Godclaw. He's "killed" pretty early on, but this version of Theo gets it together enough to "die" in a manner worthy of a hellknight, so when the Godclaw gets their citadel and, like, a plaque with the names of their fallen, Theoven's is at the top as the first member of the Godclaw to fall in the line of duty. And Regill spends his entire time in the Godclaw in the shadow of his brother's sacrifice, not sure what made Theo change his mind about the hellknights, but determined to live up to the standard Theo would have surely held himself to.
And then Theo isn't dead, and he's also a complete fucking mess and just terrible at everything Hellknight related except having such low self-esteem that he's willing to throw his life away for the Mission. And Regill is pretty sure this is some kind of demonic trick to undermine morale by sullying the memory of the Godclaw's first fallen, but also this version of Theo is much more familiar than the legend of Hellknight (posthumous) Theoven Derenge and at some point he realizes Theo is only remembered as he is because he's a vicious fighter with a death wish who "died" before he washed out, and his mentor leveraged the "heroism" of his death to recruit hellknights to the Godclaw, and, uh, Regill has no idea what to do with that knowledge.
