Hello!

You've called upon the wrath of your friend who loves Kristoph and knows a thing or two about character design, color theory and fashion. /hj /lh

This isn't to insult you or anything, I just accidentally took politely disagreeing with your opinion to the extreme by getting way too excited about all stuff I know relevant to this topic. I completely get how loafers could seem like a bad idea because yeah they usually are horrible and I personally hate loafers 90% of the time. They're ugly, impractical and hard to style. At least high heels make you look awesome while damaging your spine and legs 🙄🙄

Starting off simple, he's blonde and his suit is purple because those colors go very well together but because he's a calm character, the colors are muted and the only bright colors he's allowed is the ribbon. Thing. Around his neck. I'm not actually entirely sure if you'd call it that?

I don't think they'd make him anything other than blonde, I'd assume they designed Klavier first and were dead set on the Gavin brothers being blonde.

Anyway, his loafers. First off, I think the shape of the loafers compliments the rest of his design. He has wide shoulders, a double breasted suit that makes body appear more square than it likely is, and he always has his arms crossed. The loafers have a flat end that gives for a rectangular shape, which suits all the other squares and rectangles in his design.

The one way you could justify anything else, is pointed shoes saying that it'd match his hair, but the shoes are so far from the hair that making them match in shape would have his entire silhouette feel off.

The lapels don't count as a case for triangle motif because his suit needed realistic lapels no matter what (so that he wouldn't look like an idiot, he's a respected lawyer and can't dress in suits that aren't really suits, I sincerely doubt they wanted to make a silly looking inaccurate one for such an important character)

Okay, onto the color of the loafers.

Ok the off white isn't great, the fact that it's a different genre of off white from the lightest parts of his hair really pissed me off when I was drawing him

It's green tinted which I genuinely have no clue why they did that. Did they get possesed by an evil spirit? A demon? Were they drunk? Was it April 1st when they submitted the design but their boss mixed up the dates? Are they a prankster? Whatever it is, I think they suck.

I will say, the one redeeming quality is the shading. It's blue, which allows the non purple shoes to better blend in with the purple clothes. Here's how I'd personally change his shoes. Left is edit and right is original.

Just change the off white color to a desaturated lylac so that his design is more coherent and to draw attention away from his shoes.

Anyway again sorry this is not meant to be mean or offend you, I love you Iris you're a good friend, I just got really excited when you talked about Kristoph's clothes and I blacked out 💔💔

i want to preface this by saying that this is some genuinely good analysis of his outfit from the perspective of character design. it is and what im about to say does not take away from that.

however. youve seen the childrens hospital. you can have all the sensible design philosophy in the world and still look truly the worst and that is exactly what kristoph gavin does. colour theory will not save his suit.

Sorry abt the radio silence on and off again guys, its the same old story tbh, life stuff like fulltime job, just moved again (30 min away but still woof), etc

I havent stopped thinking abt you guys for a minute i stg lol - i keep wanting to come back and post and whatnot, but the fics i promised (and am still in the trenches fighting to finish) have rlly been the big bog down of this blog for me

So i felt like anytime i had to write, i would try to spend writing the fic(s) but that meant no asks getting answered or posted 🫠💔

Ill instead take the pressure off myself to get those done, and simply chip away at it as i please, and focus on asks instead

Also, my ao3 works are now locked down, due to recent AI scrapping, both personally thats been done to one of my works by a rando guest, and that general sweep that happened to ao3 recently.

I believe 4, maybe 5 out of my 6 works were taken.

They are still readable, but you have to be a registered user first, and I think I will be continuing that for my future works, as unfortunate as it is, because i generally like my writing to be accessible. But these idiots are making Ai wanna write stories instead of solve our math problems or clean our streets or something more useful, so here we are.

Really wish I could do something similar for tumblr, but i guess we cant have an ethical peaceful society everywhere...

Thank you for taking my ask so seriously!!!! A lot of people would have just said no and move on, but now you've activated my secret infodumping card >:3

First of all, I went through the notes and I promise you the comic isn't as angsty as the premise makes it out to be. A very central theme is friendship, and connection, and how relationships can save us even in the worst times. These guys are already dead and they're finding time to have group hugs and blood pacts <3 they're so stupid n I care them a lot 💖💖💖💖

And all the characters have such fun designs!!! They're all very distinct and full of personality, with very fun interactions, and I genuinely think you'd have a blast putting those beasts in situation. Since their personalities are so unique the fandom (me) looooves making silly little aus where they can do whatever and not. Yk. Fight for their lives.

The art is great and the whole world building with the spectre forms (kind of similar to the full demon forms from hazbin) are genuinely so cool and so fun to speculate about, and wonder what else is going on in the very vast world of the story.

But, ultimately, the best part is the lead romance. And girl. If you like couples who are devoted to each other Annabel Lee and Lenore are the best thing to ever happened. That devoted that's leaning into "Oh there might be something toxic goin on here!!!!" They have burnt down houses, trapped friends in walls, and almost fell of balconies for the other. Absolutely bonkers bananas.

They're honestly what makes the comic so if you think they're not your style idk if it's going to be an enjoyable experience. There's also some bloody scenes (ex: someone's eye getting scarred) but they never get gory, and some heavier themes (esp madness and the condition of women in the early 1900s).

Soooooo idk. I'm mostly sending this ask bc I love being in the same fandoms as you and hearing your takes :D

I mean, both my hyperfixations are on hiatus rn and there aren't lot of content for them anymore, so why not? I could try other media while im waiting.

my thoughts on it are rather complex, I think we all agree that in og shorts fanny as well as her design were at their peak in "all wet" she started to look much diffrent from oswald and I said this before she was carring that short more than him witch was rlly fun

Fanny's old design looked alot more like a flapper and SHE WAS ONE I will not let go of the fact she was a nurse thefore a working woman ever ever I will be extremly annoying about it because I think it is a very important thing not just to her as a character but also to history of animation bc she could be a first working woman in animation and that thought makes me do backflips anyway back to the point-

I said this before but fanny had her own personality, mainly seen in all wet where she matched oswald in being a bit snobby, impulsive and mischievous but even before that in "the mechanical cow" we can see she also had some personality to her that matches with her later on, in mechanical cow she wasnt just kidnapped and started screaming helplessly but she FOUGHT BACK, she straight up started punching the guy when he grabbed her

then after that failed she did start screaming for oswalds help but even after that she wasnt just screaming helplessly she obviously still fought back and she almost got away on her own SHE JUMPED OUT OF A MOVING CAR

and I know those are not character defying things or anything but I do think that these are things building character for her even if you have to look between text for them

honestly personality wize I always thought fanny would mach personalities with- well uh- fanny

also on more fandom note [this is not atacking anyone but I dont want to leave it out because I think its important]

In the fandom space fanny's always been somewhat demonized when keept her more "divaish" traits , especialy in all wet, and I think it does play hard into the "sexy woman = evil" belief, especialy when you look at her in things that are meant to full on no hiding it demonize her, her head on atributes and trickiness and sultry self-presentation from shorts is then carried on but shown as entirely bad, shes sexy and she knows it and thats evil, shes still tricky and impulsive and thats evil, her being extremly outard is accualy just her being a bitct, etc im sure you know what I mean If you've went on any dive looking for stuff with her

then notice how in thing that do try pulling it back a bit and saying "no guys shes accualy a good guy" these atributes are suddenly either toned down or complatly gone, "oh no guys shes not accualy sexy on purpose" "no no guys shes not accualy tricky you just assued things" "guys shes not accualy so head on and shes not as outspoken that was just false impression!" and while I get these things are trying to lift her up and present her as "better" it does leave the question

what if she was those things?

like, what if she still matches oswald in trickiness and mischief? what then? what if shes aware of her appeal and plays into it on purpose does that mean something bad? does that mean shes evil...for some reason?

and I dont mean to throw hands around the fandom or anything like that really like I said YOU CAN charactarize her as evil but I do wish we could pull on the breaks and look at it from the bigger picture and notice how these "evil" traits arent accualy root flaws [and how she shares many things with oswald characterization wise lots of times but these things are cool and funny on him but there to demonize her] because I do feel like many times shes just kinda left hanging with the evil sticky note on her

but yeah we kinda have the established personality of fanny and how shes been seen by the ppl above, I personaly cranked the femme fatale part alot and decided on exploring it more in my versions so I definitley am biast towards a certain image of her in my head but even without it, we kinda get what she was suppoust to be like especialy after the redesign in all wet that drove some ideas home even more

and this is the redesign they made of her for the show

and like...that is a cute design, the glasses are cute I like the yellow-green combo and how they accualy used a pretty shade of yellow to make her blonde instead of the piss wig color, the ears are a nice touch it is a well know by everyone ever fact that I love ears down fanny not only bc it makes her look diffrent from oswald but also bc I think it adds character, the outfit is somewhat nice its simple gets the characterization done and I do have to say seeing her ears on the left image it does make her look more like a rabbit, I like how not only are the ears down but also they have those little ending bits to them

but heres the thing

wheres the fanny?

like okay I get that they obviously were more looking at her cuter side but like wheres the cuntiness, where did the shyess come out? because we can see she was obviously meant to come off as a shy girl i mean look at her, where did her matching oswald stupidity and freak go [I dont even mean romanticly]

this is a cute desing and this is a nice character idea really but this is not fanny cottontail man, like even when you divorce her history in the fandom as well as for some reason ignore all wet she still had some of that hard ass energy to her [went into an active feild to pick up oswald in great guns not even knowing it was him,recruted herself as a nurse off screen, again STARTED PUNCHING A GUY WHEN HE GRABBED HER, jumped out of a moving car you name it]

like she did appear a bit shy in the mechanical cow when oswald started to talk w her but like I think that was more because she had a guy clearly hit on her and that resolved in that moment of shyness rather than being an active trait

also this is more disconnected from other stuff but I dont like how they changed her body type to be less curvy not even bc of the implication but also because I dont like how disney seem to be allergic to more fem body types, like

they took away her hrt rip legend

also I said this before on here and I think I will accualy end up writing an essay about it but again this design turns her into a "good girl" by taking away some of her atributes that honestly should have stayed there- this honestly brings even more attention to how fem characters often either get the "shy, honey, sweetheart girl" card or the "evil saultry witch women" card

do notice how with the "good one" I said girls but with the "evil one" I said women-

but yeah thats a whole diffrent thing back to fanny and the show and onto the uh...later worry-

I do have to agree I also worry they could have have them more sibling like relationship with I hateeeee typing this made my heart do a twist I think like no no no no no no I am not dancing this dance aint no way-

and like we dont essencialy know if thats true like we have only few images and while ofc their relationship could have been something else I do also very deeply fear that they could have tried pulling that and straw if ur still reading through this I need you to imagine how uncomfortable that thought makes me I think I would start biting the walls if that were the case straw-

if she was the "shy but responcible" older friend-sister trope and he was the "youger chaotic outward" younger friend-brother I think I would have thrown up for suprisingly big amount of reasons like no- nononono

but overall in complete nutsel, the design is cute but this is not francine fanny cottontail accualy this little rabbit lady accidently broke the law in kentucky and has been on the lam ever since and accual fanny allowed her use her full name as a cover up and shes chilling somewhere on the other end of the city/world

My opinions on each total drama season cause I'm a bit bored rn (warning: probably NOT relatable bcs i have odd taste...)

Island

Island was my (and most people's) first ever season and I still consider it as one of my favorite season despite the flaws (Heather's strategies relying too much on luck, the inappropriate jokes, etc...). My favorite part in Island is at the end where the contestants throw Chris into the water and they laugh and have fun. idk i just LOVE those moments!!!

Action

I don't rlly like Action, but I can tell why people like it. It's a funny season, hehe... The only reason I was not interested in Action is because a LOT of my favorite characters do not join (specifically the three boys voiced by Peter Oldring and Geoff). But since Harold DOES get a lot of screentime in that season, and I do like Harold...I might as well give it a binge watch someday.

World Tour

One of my favorite seasons!! my contents usually come from this season. It has everything that I love: travelling (when I watch variety/reality shows I LOVE when there is an episode or a season where they travel somewhere far! also I just like travelling in general), musical, and a well-written villain named Alejandro. I loved every single contestant that made their debut in World Tour (yes, including Blaineley!!) Sure WT had some stuff that annoyed me like the feral Zeke plotline and Gwuncan (I was a passionate Duncney shipper, okay?!?), but overall it's a really great season for me

Revenge of the Island

Would you believe me if I said that I don't really like roti?? I mean I LOVE the plot. especially the finale where it's Lightning vs Cameron. I think it's one of the greatest finale ever next to WT. I even love the Dakotazoid stuff because idk maybe i have a soft spot for total drama mutants (I'm looking at you, Zeke!) I don't like roti bcs the characters are not fun to draw...yeah that's it. I have 0 ideas on what to draw about roti and I don't even know why :(. I don't really have a specific 'WOAH Im so obsessed with you!!' character in gen 2. Technically you could consider Mal but Mal doesnt even appear in roti sooo...yeah.

All Stars

A season with VERY GOOD potential but with VERY BAD execution. They nerfed down really important characters like Alejandro (although you could say that he kinda lost his strength after being stuck in a robot suit for a year...), Duncan and Courtney too much to the point where I'm questioning "are they the same characters that I used to know, or are they just clones??" I'm also a bit frustrated that Mal was a terribly written villain. We had a potential to make a very good villain with a decent DID rep! Of course, TD is a show for kids after all, so I did not expect like a very accurate DID rep, but still...you're telling me Mike can erase all his alters with a button? in his mind? WHAT? The only things I love in AS is that we had a lot of wholesome Aleheather interactions, and...oh, Zeke. Zeke got a happy ending. I think that alone makes this season worth watching.

Pahkitew

I dont care what you guys say Pahkitew is one of my FAVORITE seasons. I admit that its a very flawed season with annoying or unrealistic characters and very forced elimination (RIP Ella & Max), but hear me out: as a FANARTIST, I must say that this season is really fun to draw and imagine scenarios!! It's kinda the opposite with how I feel about roti; I love almost every single character designs in this season, and the fact that their facial expressions are so vivid!? it's a really fun season to draw about!! (I think FreshTV really leveled up their animation when it comes to Pahkitew, or is it just me?) People say that this season had no potential at all, but I can DEFINETLY see that this has some potential in it from character designs alone.

I did not watch the reboot yet so I can't give my opinion about it. but uh...I love Zee. he's soo chill hehe

he's a cook from the heart type of guy and it always turns out (surprisingly) really good

most of the recipes he has memorized are probably comfort meals or hangover cures

this man is so well meaning, standing behind you and helping you with every damn thing no matter how small the task. he does the thing where he holds your hand when you're chopping anything with a knife or stirring and guides you. it gets a bit overbearing but he's trying his to help

probably acts like you have never seen an oven/stovetop before and is constantly reminding you its hot as if thats not the whole point of it

he likes playing music while he cooks with you (most likely a shared playlist between the both of you) he likes humming along to it and he likes it even more when he can hear you hum along with him

the meal he defaults to making with you is probably chicken pot pie that tastes just like home

kyle "gaz" garrick

this man can BAKE. cake? muffins? cookies? he's got a recipe for it and you bet your ass its a damn good recipe.

he probably enjoys having the great british bake off in the background while he cooks

out of all the guys in TF-141, gaz is probably the one you should trust the most in there with you. when its the two of you in the kitchen not only do you get things done efficiently, it ends up being super fun with minimal chaos!

you definitely made each other those super cute lunchbox cakes for each other at one point

as much as he loves trying new recipes with you, making strawberry rhubarb pie from scratch with you is one he will always default to. he prefers his slice with a side of whipped cream <3

john "soap" mactavish

i dont think any of the guys are completely incompetent in the kitchen, when left alone in a kitchen soap could probably make a pretty good meal. emphasis on him alone in the kitchen

but when it is you two in the kitchen it will take a lot longer than expected or go to shit (but will still be edible!)

gets into flour fights with you even if the recipe doesn't call for any. he just grabs it out the pantry and WHAPOW it looks like the pillsbury dough boy just fucking exploded

he also keeps eating things he's not supposed to. raw cookie dough, batter, straight up flour, etc he probably took a bite or two for "taste testing purposes" of course. he's lucky he's got an iron stomach because if his immune system was even the tiniest bit weaker food poisoning would be beating his ass

one thing that you would enjoy making together would probably be crème brûlée. of course he get the honors of the little blowtorch part but you could get away with doing a few if you ask very nicely

gary "roach" sanderson

he takes the smaller tasks like chopping things up, washing fruits and veggies, or keeping the countertops organized and he does a really good job at whatever small task you give him

ask him to slice something up for you and trust they will be in the most perfect even slices you have ever seen in your life

if you're baking together he would love watching whatever delicious creation you made together rise in the oven. he likes just sitting criss cross applesauce on the floor, feeling the warmth radiating from the oven as he watches the baked goods cook. the first time he did this you didn't realize he was just sitting on the floor so you tripped over him

your go-to thing to make together is definitely chocolate chip cookies. roach likes putting small designs on top with chocolate chips like hearts, smiley faces, or just cuss words because he's silly like that

they come out really good but if you share with someone else make sure you don't hand them one that says "dick" in all capital letters

simon "ghost" riley

he has all the measurements with him and a scale to measure ingredients so you think he's precise and it will be all fine right? wrong. sure he measures his ingredients but if he goes over he probably doesn't try to fix it. ghost is the type of guy to shrug it off and adds it to the bowl anyways. to him measurements are suggestions

this bitch doesnt level his measuring cups

this usually goes well for cooking but for baking not so much

has forgotten to add in seasonings on a number of occasions so right before you put it in the oven you have to do a whole checklist to make sure that everything that should be in there is actually in there

favorite thing to make together is probably pesto pasta. most of it is measured by heart which he definitely appreciates and also less dishes to wash!

BUT THATS NOT TO SAY I DONT LIKE VENOM!!!! hes the og guy and we love him for that :33 honestly i think venom n the symbiotes in general are what got me into creatures with jaws n the like.. if yknow what i mean (unhinge-able jaws, big teeth, etc etc)

THIS ⬆️⬆️ is my fav venom design :]] (it’s from a miles morales-centric comic but I can’t remember the name of it rn). he’s just a big ol puppy dog and def ive taken a lot of inspo from just that design in particular

uhh the venom movies were awesome.. I’ve only seen the first and third and ive had to watch clips of the second but i rlly like them all lol. tbh the third movie kinda fell off?? in terms of eddies n venoms relationship and i was hoping for toxin 😭😭 BUT IT WAS STILL GOOD BTW and so were the other movies.. Eddie n venom are so silly together grahh

oh and literally grandson did the song for venom 3. The king himself. no problem is also one of my favorite songs ever so the venom movies def had a killer soundtrack

Heya, I saw you talking about Ichi the Killer the other day and I though "That sounds interesting maybe I'll look at it" and MAN. Finished it yesterday it was too suspenseful to stop reading! Just wanted to tell you I liked it.

well adjusted tumblr users when they learn about an ultraviolence, gore, tragedy, thriller WHATEVER manga that they probably shouldnt read:

JKHJSDDSJAK im just kidding. i have to admit my stomach did a 180 when i started reading ''im gonna check it out. MAN." like i was ready to get chewed out do you realize this. jumpscared

now that i have fresh eyes on it though, what DID you think of the old man mentoring itchi and his motivation and whatnot?? he fucking suuuucked i was barely caring about that guy until the very end like way to ruin the romantic climax. not that i have any Betterr ideas to switch him out with on the subject of why itchi is the he is. - he IS the catalyst of the story, after all. maybe if i read it a third time ill like him more?

if you wanna get more of it, theres the movie -infinitely more popular and liked than the manga because of the director and actor- (also again, the character design EVEN WITH turning kakihara into a blonde twink *chefs kiss*) there are some sequels acting as prequels that have more insight on itchi would be roped into this level of intense psychological manipulation... i dont remember liking them as much as i did the original. i really was in it for the 'kakihara does a stupid gay character development that pisses you off' ride

if youre willing to still hear me out, i actually got to ichi through a different manga the same artist illustrated, "homunculus", that i also really enjoyed. my memory is weaker on that story, but its not nearly as gore intensive. still a horror thriller of sorts, though. its the story about a man who lives in his car and agrees to to a back alley surgery experiment. the 'surgeon's(student?) theory is that by opening a literal third eye through trepanation, he will gain insight in to the supernatural. he can "see" through only when closing his right eye though, in the form of miscellaneous beasts haunting individuals, said beasts representing repressed memories, trauma, insecurities and whatnot. not everyone has them. if youve ever seen a spread of a guy holding a drill to his own forehead, thats the one!

it could have easily been serialized into "problem of the week" and gone on for longer but it drops the pretense midway through as it focuses more on your main character(s). it has also gotten a movie in the last decade, but i havent seen it.

since when i last talked about ichi i was once again harping how the core of this, sans final mastermind plot twist, is about a closeted, extreme masochist, yakuza chief hunting down the man that killed his boss/implied lover, homunculus has a smiliar thing going on that not a lot of manga, horror or otherwise, are willing to act upon, or at least to this extent. the surgeon i mentioned before (i dont remember names ;;) has a gaudy, 'rich single cougar in your area' (imo) fashion sense, and crossdresses ocasionally. his own thing and the way his homunculus manifests is like an hidden agent plot through the story, culminating with a dedicated arc. by the end, if its not explicitly stated (again i genuinely dont remember) then its made extremely obvious that she has transitioned and identifies as a woman (like for real, its if you dont see it you have dementia type of obvious), the relationship between the her and the protag is very interesting and endearing, and has that similar romantic tension that kakiharas one-sided manhunt carried. it fades into the background when the protags own skeletons are brought to light, but seeing her come back in the end and hugging him while hes just too far gone did something NASTY to my emotions. theres an english saying that pretty much sums up her deal, but i dont want to say it because it would immediately spoil it. so ill just say its really interesting that her entire character design, from how her face is stylized to how her homunculus manifests, is sick as hell and incredible foreshadowing. teehee

i suppose that if you handled ichi you can handle this, but if you do check it out be warned that one of the arcs revolves around this 40?? something year old having sex with a teenager. its not presented as titillating, thank god, its awkward as hell, and then it gets annoying as FUCK because its said teenager and protag playing an hours long chicken game, when one backs out and concedes defeat the other negs them on. i might be putting on rose tinted goggles, but now i find it one of the stronger arcs.... reminds me of when i was a teenager myself. make of that what you will. (cluster-b girlies stay losing i guess) also, the one spread of the surgeon and the teenagers homunculus interacting was the coolest thing id seen so far in that story ngl.

lucy, she/her: lucy was a dnd character of mine! she was an albino turkey vulture aarakocra cleric with a service dog named bear (who's still around I just dont have him on this post). she's dating sif! lucy was a huge source of joy for me when i was younger. i was obsessed with her. shes my sweet girl and i love her to death. her relationship with her dog bear is one of my favorite things ive done with characters i think theyre so sweet

sif, she/he/they: my silly girl. my absolute goober. sif was a dnd character that never got used unfortunately. they were a tabaxi monk. she's dating lucy!! i dont have much to say abt him bc i never really went crazy with her lore but i love her sm. she was so fun to draw. i need to get her into rottmnt

chris, she/they: chris ended up being almost a sister to fru. she's so fun. she was also originally a dnd character, but she was a human. i think she was a rogue?? im not sure. they have a vial of blood on a necklace around their neck. dont ask where it came from. she meant a lot to me when i first made her and i vented a lot in my art of her. i was goin through some hard times back then man LMAOO. this was back in 2020

basil, she/it/they: ok this ones kinda crazy. basil isnt technically a snake, she just takes the form of one. it's a shadow god, one that was cast out and sent to live among the mortals. she follows fru around. they were in a relationship with badger (who is also a shadow god taking the form of a lynx creature) but they split up after being cast out. basil holds the star artifact (ignore the drawing of her with the sun thats wrong. fru has the sun). basil was such a blast to draw when i first made her and to this day sometimes i find myself doodling them

badger, he/it/they: badger is one of the "villains" of the story. they, as mentioned before, are a shadow god that was cast out and sent into the mortal realm. after his falling out with basil, it found ruin and decided to stick with him. badger holds the void artifact!! he's also SO fun to draw. their expressions are super fun. i was obsessed with the song all eyes on me by OR3O so like thats kind of his song now LMAOO

ruin, he/him: ruin is the other "villain" in the story. he (hear me out on this ok) is half of the REAL fruhand, which was split apart for whatever reason. he's fruhand's negative half. he doesn't know that he and fru are equal and believes himself to be inferior. he absolutely hates fru in the beginning, but they make up after ruin realizes the truth. he holds the moon artifact! i made so many different versions of this goober and his silly design. he really helped me learn to draw more freely and creatively

fru, he/him: fru is the main character bc i love him to death. he's the other half of the real fruhand and is his positive half. he doesn't know about the split until later. eventually he and ruin become brothers. do they go back together? idk. i never really did anything abt it. he holds the sun artifact. i fucking love fru. he was a self insert in dnd initially (but also inspired by br'aad from just roll with it) but now he's developed into my silly lion man who's in love with leo. god i love him. he means the world to me

a note about the artifacts: they're the key to the heavens i think it was. or like, the "higher up areas." when combined they open a gateway. they can also be used to merge fru and ruin back together! badger and ruin want to get all the artifacts so badger can take revenge on the gods, and so ruin can be the "real" fruhand. obviously this doesnt happen

I like how Arcane Viktor is both a robot/cyborg and something completely alien to Runeterra. Like, he's still a robot/cyborg of some kind (his voice is mechanical, his skin is metal, there are bolts and screws in his Hexcoreized form, and you can hear faint mechanical whirrs in some of his scenes after he's fully Evolved)-but he's also not the type of cyborg he's normally depicted.

He's less "traditional Cyberpunk cyborg" and more "Spooky Living Metal Alien Robot who wants to assimilate you into the Robot/Alien Hive Mind". Both are still cyborgs/robots, but very different genres of robot/cyborg. (One is Cyberpunk Sci-Fi, one is Space Sci-Fi.) (...Also, the fact that some media uses divine imagery for aliens and/or makes it so that ancient societies worshipped aliens as gods arguably makes this comparison work even better?)

(Slight spoilers for The Expanse.) (The main comparison I use for Viktor's transformations is the Protomolecule Hybrids from The Expanse as a comparison-both the TV and book versions. (The Protomolecule can assimilate and transform both flesh and technology, so it feels a fitting comparison.))

(Also, you should check out The Expanse. It's well written, has great characters and storylines, and has some similar themes to Arcane (class divide and politics) while also being a mostly-grounded Space Sci-Fi series. (Also, Grayson's VA plays one of my favorite characters.) It's on Prime for free, and I cannot recommend it enough.)

YES I LOVE!!! ELDRITCH ROBOT VIKTOR!!! i understand why people were disappointed that they didn't get the Machine Herald from the game (even i will admit i wanted to see that freak in all his glory) but ive always considered him and Jayce Talis as separate guys (as well as the rest of the cast, but those two have the biggest deviation from their original selves. its one of the reasons I call him the Arcane Herald and not the Machine Herald cause. hes not really the Machine Herald) so i was really excited to see him as a fucked up body horror robot wizard. (and honestly i LOVE the switch up the original game lore for his (and jayce's) storyline but the tangent i want to go on is not really relevant to this ask so ill leave it there for now) and i LOVE what we got.

like i keep staring at all this pictures of his in act and im obsessed with his weird ass anatomy. He looks like he's made of wires and fibers but it looks like exposed nerves and flesh. his skin lined with gold and swirls and it pulses and glows, but it's still some intimation of skin. It looks flexible but its still metal. The result of near perfect transmutation using corrupted magic. A cyborg made of the arcane. He's so unnaturally natural. the original was once human and still retains that form no matter what but now its fundamentally changed. fucked up and alien and i love it.

AND THE DIVINITY ASPECT OOOH MY GOD!!! wake up bitch we've forced you into an artificial godhood where you dont know how much control you have over your soul at any time. you will never know how much of your own mind is your own. your own want to help people and insecurities about your body are twisted for the goal of something you cannot understand. You have become the central consciousness for a concept that was never supposed to be conscious. you will kill thousands in it's name, you've ended dozens of worlds, and you do not know how much of it was you, but you drown in your guilt regardless. you wanted to die human but you were loved too much.

(I do like in the concept art you can tell they were making designs for a semi-traditional machine herald (some pretty cool ones tbh!!), but as it goes on it gets weirder and weirder until it's the Arcane Herald. they just kept going he's not enough of a freak yet. keep making him more fucked up.)

I have not seen the Expanse but it IS on my list. and the promise of fucked up hybrids of flesh and machinery AND Shohreh Aghdashloo is. ooooh very nice.

OFF THE FUCKKING HOOK AGGHH im the off the hook + their friend 8 guy and this dlc literally just being Off The Hook Jamboree made me sob and throw up. it's a story about MARINA first and foremost she's one of the most precious characters to me in the world so it makes me very very happy to see her at the forefront of the story.

i like that she is gay yes but i also really love that in this world of her own making, something she designed to help heal sanitized octarians (WHICH IS ALSO HUGE TO ME. FORRR THE RECORD!!!!) the main antagonist and who jeopardizes her vision is a pretty on the nose manifestation of her own like Signature Character Flaw, that being that she's terrified of change. i am VERY happy they did not do "heel turn evil marina". i am happy there was no twist villain. it was a story about marina's growth as a person and how she's learned to embrace chaos and that there are parts of living she can't control. that unpredictability and impulse and change can end poorly sure but it can also take her to places she'd never dreamed of seeing before.

acht is funny because i made the fucking dumb fuck mistake of assuming dedf1sh wouldnt ever be canonically relevant beyond their role in octo expansion so id workshopped a number of headcanons about them and how they speak and behave but they're literally at the forefront here as an entirely different character from what i'd been envisioning in my head

WHEN THEY FIRST START INTERACTING WITH PEARL AND MARINA THEY LEGIT GIVE ME THE VIBE OF LIKE. MARINA'S EX WHO CLEARLY THINKS PEARL IS KIND OF ANNOYING BUT PEARL IS OBLIVIOUS TO THE UNDERLYING RESENTMENT. it was really funny to me. i do think acht came around to her by the end of the dlc they can tell marina is much happier with where her life is after leaving octo valley

acht is important in the general Marina Narrative as well as they're like. there to remind marina of what she can still treasure from her past. and pearl is there to continue walking forward with her into a brighter future. it's kind of beautiful i think.

AND BIIITCH I PREDICTED THE SQUARE BECOMING AN UNLOCKABLE HUB AND THAT MEANSI GET TO HEAR COLOR PULSE AT SPLATFESTS AGAIN AND CRY!

for george, he does in fact like napping a lot around Hills of Mildew (on the eastern side of the map) inside his own hut and doesnt really care about anything and only goes outside to stretch his legs and look at the horizon

WOO!!!! First off, I really love your art style. All the pen lines, especially in some of the older art, it's awesome. I wish I'd do more stuff like that

Anyway, I love these guys. The fire head design is sooo cool. Idk if its just your style or if it looks a certain way for a reason, but it reminds me of autumn leaves and sticks. Which feels apt, for something so nature-themed. A skrunkly guy, I bet he thinks he's the coolest kid on the block. I'd like to hear the thoughts behind those eyes xD

And Tommy feels so sitting. He's a Big man™ and he's got Belts and Such™, Dont Mess With Him !!!11!1!!!! And then you see those big goofy eyes <3 Yep, you're very intimidating and cool, Tommy~ Also him losing his wings reminds me of osmp. That there is one slightly above-average guy who cannot fly. He doesnt NEED to fly, he is simply built different. #trust

Speaking of Dream. Ahahehehh I was right >:D It's the vibes, man. The vibes are there and they work so well with these two. If c!Dream and c!George were to be in a hollow knight inspired world, that is simply what they would be doing, I don't make the rules. And hey, that means your character design did its job :D Pog

I'm also always in favor of any idea regarding a fighting arena. Dream would do numbers there, I'm sure. Glad to see the friendly rivalry exists <3

I don't know if you plan on writing anything or just drawing stuff, or just vibe, but I love this concept and I hope you continue it :D
