you sighed as you laid yourself flat against the blankets. you smiled in delight as if your troubles and worries left you. 

“school’s over.” you said, feeling your chest heavy. you recalled the school memories that you’ve experienced; both happy and sad, now that you’re taking the next chapter of your life; college. 

it’s leaving a bittersweet feeling on your whole body. 

“it is.” you looked over your shoulder, to see your boyfriend, riki fiddling with his yearbook. his fingers spotted towards the back of the book, heartfelt messages and inspiring words that his friends wrote for him. 

you’re in riki’s backyard, inside of a treehouse both of you built since children with the help of your parents. you’re so lucky your dad is a constructor. 

riki is sitting, one leg sticking out and one knee bent as he leans into the wooden walls. this position allows you to admire him from below as the sunlight flashes on his beautiful features. 

he’s reading every single message with sincerity and care, from his senior friends that he will probably never see again and his younger juniors that he can’t annoy anymore as he pleases. despite hating waking up early every morning and him dealing with tiring lectures, he has to admit he made memories and friends that’s worth a life time.

“i can’t believe we’re gonna be college students now. where we have to pay off debts, start our career paths, those people who are gonna be closer to 20 than 16 - it’s just,” you took in a breath. “surreal. surreal that we are growing up.”

you had always had a fear of growing up. not wanting to achieve the things and goals you’ve planned on time. you felt like you’re rushing to do everything at once before it becomes too late. you always wanna stay 16 forever; forever naive to understand the real world. how you’re closest friends will separate from you. how everything you’re experiencing right now will be just a memory. 

riki glanced down on you where you’re staring off of space. he can sense the anxiety in your tone. 

he closes the book after he was staring at a picture. a picture titled, “best couple” and it’s a picture of the both of you standing next to each other, smiling widely. he smiled at how adorable you looked next to him.

he scooted closer to you, making himself comfortable once he lays down next to you. his back lays flat, mimicking your position. 

“are you scared?” riki likes to question the obvious, but it helps you reflect on your feelings; how fear is just a feeling and to understand your emotions a bit better.

“just a little anxious just all,” you confessed, looking at riki whose eyes never left yours. “i’m sure it will disappear soon. i mean, everyone experiences this.” you reassure yourself and riki sense it, enjoying your honesty.

“mhm,” riki mumbles. “it’s okay to feel anxious, the future is scary.” he looks down. “it’s only a matter of time how you’re gonna handle it. you create your own future.” 

his words ring in your head. he’s right.

riki took your silence as a way that you agree with him. 

he then glanced down towards your arm, a black-inked drawing that attracted him. riki scooted closer, his body turned to yours. he propped himself up with his elbow.

no matter how close the proximity is between the both of you, it still makes you nervous til this day. especially with how much older and mature-looking your boyfriend of 6 years is. 

“your parents aren’t mad about this?” riki gently poked on your arm, eyes analyzing the art in your arm. it’s only been a week since you decided to get your first tattoo.

it’s beautiful, he thinks. 

“not anymore, i’m 18 now.” you huffed out. you remembered the horror on your parents’ faces but a sigh of defeat when they realized you’re now responsible of yourself. it makes you chuckle about their panicked expressions, slowly making themselves aware that you’re not gonna be their little 4 year old reckless daughter anymore. 

“i can imagine your mom shrieking.” riki giggled which made you scoffed because he wasn’t wrong. 

“your birth flower?” riki asked, his fingertips gently tracing the traces of your birth flower. 

your eyes widened a bit at his sudden touch then you looked down at how focused riki was. his eyes were staring at it as if your tattoo was a museum. 

your heart beat quickened at the sight. 

“the flower that i drew for you in your math notebook in 6th grade.” riki smiled, realizing how much time flies since you guys called it official since middle school. you’ve remembered the nervousness riki’s hands were, fiddling the bouquet of origami flowers. flowers he made for each that day that he fell in love with you. you thought it was silly. riki has always been caring and kind to you so it was natural for you to reprociate the feelings back. and so, without any pressure or doubts, you guys called it official.

“i thought you threw your old notebooks away..” his voice still remains soft and delicate, still smiling at your tattoo. he started to reminisce the times he would doodle on your notebook without you noticing. like a surprise.

“i ripped the page and kept it since.” when you were going into your freshman self, you looked back into the notebooks to reminsince your middle school memories. you’ve came across a drawing — no other than riki’s in one of your notebooks. you ripped it out and hid it in a safe spot until you get a tattoo of it ever since.  

some people thought you guys weren’t gonna make it past middle school — even you too, but since both of you got in the same highschool, it remained strong. a strong string holding your relationship tight.

yes, with hormones acting up and puberty getting in the way, there were times where you guys had fought and argued together to the point it was nearing breaking apart but both of you shouldn’t let it slide. not when it has reached this far. and how much you love each other.

although your boyfriend has grown up, there are occasionally times where he teases you and becomes childish around you, it makes you soft-hearted at how he still has a soul of his 12-year old self. especially moments where he look similar to a duck, which made you think about how much duck plushies you have on your bed because it reminds you of riki. 

you’re happy that you’re growing up with him.

“what are you thinking about pretty girl?” 

you gasped lightly, realizing that you’re spacing out. you looked at him and you see a small smirk implemented on his face, curious of what your pretty head is thinking about.

your face relaxes, trying to calm yourself. you’re nervous over nothing.

you looked down at your hands, then glance at riki’s hand comfortably resting, then back to your hands. your fingers slowly creep upon riki’s fingers, slowly rubbing them with yours. you smiled at the sight.

“it’s insane to think about how much we’ve grown.” you paused. “together.”

riki’s eyes looked at the sight, his heart beat echoing and growing louder. no matter what you do, you always make him think irrational. he then glances at you smiling when you’re playing with his fingers. “not many people believed in us lasting this long, not even me. i was worried if one of us lost feelings, found someone else better, or get something in our way, but im glad that we didn’t give up.” you looked at riki where his attention was diverted to you. he raised an eyebrow to indicate that he was listening.

“i’m happy that i’m dating you, i can’t express how much i adore you, how much you mean to me, i’ve never felt love this strong before — you’re just everything to me. i can’t imagine laughing harder than with anyone else, smile so much with anyone else. with you, it’s different. thank you for loving me.” 

you’re cringing on the inside at how much you confessed in such a short amount of time. you’re met with silence from your boyfriend who seem atonished from your words. you’re embarrassed, pulling back your fingers to cover your blushing cheeks in front of your boyfriend.

riki’s lips twitched, happy for you to express your feelings more comfortably now compared to the past situations. (one of the reasons that you’ve guys argued before) his chest felt light, his grin becoming bigger when you’re hiding from him.

you hear the blankets rustling, you felt riki’s arm slowly snake around your wrist to lightly remove your hand from your face. you removed your embarrassed hands and your eyes followed his hand clasping onto yours. the sight of his veiny hands makes you silent.

you admire the two of you holding hands. your stomach was feeling butterflies just as it was the first time riki confessed his feelings to you. riki twists your wrist, allowing you to see the sight from all angles. it looks so perfect. your hand perfectly structured to hold his. 

“you’re just as perfect as to what i am seeing right now.” riki spoke with a soft tone, chuckling when he kept twisting and turning your wrist. “you have a place in my heart no one else could ever have. my heart is so full of you i can hardly call it my own. i choose you. and i’ll choose you over and over. without a pause, without a doubt, in a heartbeat, i’ll keep choosing you. as long as i’m alive, you will always be loved.”

you’re speechless at your boyfriend’s words to the point you feel like crying. riki still kept smiling at you, giggling. you saw the crescents formed in his eyes whenever he smiled at you and it never fails to make yourself love him more.

riki took this opportunity to lift himself up, hovering above you. he pecked your forehead. you felt his warm lips touching your skin and the goosebumps always forms whenever he makes you flustered.

you looked up at him, surprised. he looked down at you with his head tilted and a scrunched nose like a puppy, as if he was proud to do that.

nothing but an exchange of loud heart beats matching with one another and genuine giggles back and forth. 

riki then leaned in towards you. you closed your eyes at the expected action. his lips touching with yours. electricity flows when he rubs his fingers on your hands. it always make you feel all tingly on the inside. 

riki then pulls back, “cute.” he teases you, making your cheeks grow hotter. “shut up.” you rolled eyes, earning a little laugh from him.

riki still doesn’t let go of your intertwined hands as he returns to his original position where you’re laying flat on the ground, shoulder to shoulder. 

“so your summer plans?” riki asked casually. he lifted his head as his arm was under his head to act as support.

you then touched your bangs, realizing that you still have that caramel-like highlights since march. you were starting to get bored of it.

you pursed your lips. “maybe dye my hair next week back to black.” 

riki’s eyes shined. “match with me.” he spoke without thinking. you turned your head to him, realizing that his hair is black now. 

your boyfriend likes it alot when both of you match. 

“if you bleach it next month to some color then what?” you pointed out because sometimes your boyfriend makes impulsive decisions on his hair whenever he sees a cool hairstyles. you’re not angry whenever he does this because he’s good looking with whatever hair color he has.

“i won’t bleach it, i promise. i’ll follow you.” riki spoke and it makes you chuckle that he probably doesn’t realize the importance of his words. “red? blue? silver, i’ll do it for you.” you froze at his sudden deep voice erupting from him. your heart beat also freezes when his lips touches the location of your tattoo. you looked down and see his lips pushed forward. your heart flutters once again.

“you’re dumb.” you spoke, eyes softening at what you were hearing. 

gosh, you really love this man.

riki smiles against your skin, looking up and your heart twists at an umfamiliar sight. “i can be that.” he whispers like it was a promise.

All the Draconias can basically spawn a flower garden when they are at the peak of their happiness. 🌹✨⚘

Each Draconia has different flowers that they can summon (maybe because they resonate a lot with its meaning?).

For example Malleus' flower was Wisteria, and its meaning is described on this post.

I like the thought of Malleus and Malenoa overreacting when they receive affection-- So, I'm just imagining that Malenoa once drowned Levan in a waterfall of roses once he received a "marriage proposal" from him‼️

Why did I make Levan refer to Malenoa as Malle-chan? Well--- the gargoyles from the GloMas event referred to Malleus as Mare/Malle/Mal. Since that event seems to correlate to Briar Valley and Levan a lot, I'd like to imagine that Levan once gave Malenoa a nickname such as Malle-chan or something cute like that-- YOUKNOW LIKE HOW IN MALLEYUU THERES TSUNOTAROU--‼️🤭🤭🤭🤭✨✨✨

And, Levan seems to be twisted from Diablo (pet bird of Maleficent who got turned into a stone by one of the 3 fairies)

I love how she referred to Levan as the only person she can rely on because you can relate it on the part where Malleus couldn't confide with anyone about his fear of losing Lilia--- SO!!! he went to visit Yuu—🥲💖

In that way, you can correlate it with Malleus viewing Yuu as "the only one he can depend on" as well 😭‼️💕

From January: My first rendered drawing of CD-I Link for my Links Meet AU, Uncanon Fates! I like how I did the lighting here, it’s nice. Link

From February: LU Legend as a Pokémon Trainer! He’s well known across the lands as someone who has every Pokémon known to man, including Legendary Pokémon. I’m very proud of how I drew the Pokémon here, as well as Legend’s outfit(although I could redo his hat haha). Link

From March: Another LU Pokémon AU drawing! It’s Four with some of his Pokémon(I couldn’t get myself to draw his other two Pokémon cause I got sick lol). I love the rendering I did here, I completely forgot how to draw like this now tho :( Link

From April: mmm More Pokémon au(im almost done with these I swear it’s just that I like my Linked Pokémon pieces the most). Even though it’s not my best Fakemon designs, I’m still very proud of them and love how they look. Love my names as well and how they fit with Sheerow. Sheerow, Sheer Sparrow, Sheercon, Sheer Falcon, and Sheerking, being well. A King of Saxony bird. Link

From May: there were a lot of great art pieces I did this month, but I specifically wanted to show this screenshot redraw of LU Warriors as Bella Swan from Twilight(the vampire movies), based on @/crazylittlejester’s au where Wars is Bella Swan(it’s so funny I love it). I love his stupid little expression here, 10/10. Link

From June: Hilda from my Royal Depths AU! It’s a LoZ AU set a few generations after TotK, where Ravio’s the main character, and Link is a Zora(+ many many more things). I just think she looks very cute, I love how I did her hair and eyes, even tho I think I’ll be changing up her design a bunch the next time I draw her. Link

From July: My piece from the first LoZ Gift Exchange(hopefully there will be another one lol). This was for @/wispywindss, along with some pixel art animations I did for them as well. I just really like this piece in general, I finished it in like a week lol that’s why I even made 4 pixel animation in the first place xD I was crazy productive. Link

From August: I’m very very proud of this piece! It’s Lana from Hyrule Warriors, I drew her for Hyrule Warriors Week! You can’t really see all the detailed shading I did here cause the piece is so dark, but I’m especially proud of my shading here. Link

From September: I’m pretty sure this is my only piece I did in September, so it’s automatically my favorite 😎 @/kikker-oma accidentally started a trend with drawing the LU Links with dramatic lighting, and I draw Warriors! He looks cute here, love him. Link

From October: TotK!Link/the Hero’s Shade from my Royal Depths AU. Drew him for Linktober. I just think he looks really cute here okay, I need to draw like this more <3 Link

From November: This drawing for AlttP’s 33rd anniversary! It features two AlttP Links, on the right is the one from my Winx(yes the fairy show) themed Links Meet AU, and the other one is from the Chain as Cryptids Links Meet AU by @/sapphicseasapphire! I just like guy’s design and how cute I made Legend(sapphire’s guy). Link

From December: It was hard to choose which of the Winter’s Delight pieces I did to be my favorite, but I chose this one! I just like how it looks more, even tho it took less time to draw then the other one 😓 But yeah, this is Shadow from the Four Swords manga, since this was a Four Swords(and winter) themed event. im not sure if anyone asked you yet, but thoughts on the dunmeshi anime?

thanks for asking! sometimes i forget i exist here as a person cuz i just log on to queue random stuff without making posts 💀

it's pretty rare for me to watch an anime without ever reading the manga, and there've been stellar adaptations recently. ONK, kisekoi, BTR, frieren, CSM just to name a few. in a landscape where we're used to being disappointed as readers who have a frame of reference before watching a show, i had very, very high hopes for the dunmeshi adaptations that weren't quite fulfilled.

i'll dump everything under a cut since i actually have a lot to say, sorry if you were expecting it to be brief 😎

the lines in the artistic style are good, nicely translating the characters into animated format. really no notes there. definitely a nicer comparison for char designs between manga and anime vs. tonsuki and tensura who both have incredible manga styles that the anime stumble over (though in the latter's case, i don't think they were aiming for it sadly)

the shading has been fine, but weakened by the colour choices. some of the dungeon scenes (e.g., living armour stuff) are lit with a medium blue which helps to sell the idea of the scene being in a place not lit by fire (and contrasts it with the making camp & cooking scenes), but the lack of dark shading flattens some of these very well-drawn images.

the earlier chapters don't have the same level of detail as newer ones, but the art style is still fantastic - it's expressive with high contrast and shows action and impact perfectly well. manga will often times have a naturally easier way with contrast due to it being in black & white, but i don't think that means anime should just give up on contrast in favour of playing ineffectively with colour.

here's a night shot of fern from frieren. the choices made here allow for the shading to stand out from the flats and give her more definition overall while still being relatively simple (just flats + shading)

when dunmeshi has more "normal" lighting conditions, it does a lot better. similar to fern up there, there's about the same amount of difference between the flats and shadows, so i really wish they did a better job on the dungeon scenes since they're going to have to deal with non-torchlit scenes plenty. i won't argue that the living armor scene certainly has some kind of a sickly, alien mood to it, but tl;dr i think it should've had darker shading if not also being less green. this largely applies to every other blue-green lit scene they've done.

looking at kui's coloured drawings in the ed gives me an idea of what could've been and it makes me sad to lose out on colour choices more similar to that (even if they obviously can't have her level of detail on top of it)

some of the backgrounds haven't been too interesting but some have been good, overall it's probably fine. plus you can only draw and detail repeating bricks so many times before the viewer gets bored of looking at them anyway, i guess.

the animation is really fun and expressive. it's trigger, so they don't keep scenes stiffly on-model when they want characters moving around. this is good because it helps to sell both action and comedy moments!

the music overall i haven't really cared for? the BGM has not been particularly moving, interesting, or memorable - mostly generic. and i've seen too many fantasy shows for my own good, so i might be harder to impress (but i even remember tenken had a good BGM song or two to make a fight dramatic and that show was barely above average at best)

i'm biased not being particularly into bump, so i would've selected a different artist for the OP (i actually did like the bump OP from SxF though, come to think of it). before anyone makes a wisecrack based on what i've watched lately, no it doesn't have to be yoasobi.

i maybe feel the ED song would've been better for the OP, i don't like the largely peaceful bit of the OP with very still visuals. the OP is where you reel people in! it should be an eye-catching hook, representative of what to expect with some extra sauce on top.

the ED is great, total bop. it's a fine time for slower visuals as an enjoyable wind-down from the episode, so less or no animation is no big deal. plus kui's art is absolutely gorgeous! it all perfectly fits that "end of work" fun and lighthearted mood they were going for.

i largely enjoy the voice acting. i would've personally gone for a less "old man" voice on senshi because he's really not that old for a dwarf, but they obviously wanted to make it clear he was the older, wiser, knowledgeable character.

this might be my own personally most blasphemous opinion, but i would've picked a different VA for falin. i want to make it clear i absolutely adore saori hayami - she's incredible and one of my faves. with that said, her voice fits the character, so maybe it's just because i've heard her too often which is not her fault by any means! i love the voices for laios, marcille, and chil.

it seems netflix's subs go off of the official EN TL of the manga, which makes sense, but i've talked about how i don't like it more than ehscans' TL (which is one of the single best TLs i've read for a series, official or otherwise) and that holds true for the anime ("mad sorcerer" is cooler AND less clunky than "lunatic magician"). i prefer less localisation stuff and/or quirkiness in my subs and more direct translation for both manga and anime.

as for the changes/additions they've made to the show, some of them have been alright and some i didn't care for. they really want to sell marcille as the funny joke character which is why they had her being chased by the basilisk instead of having doni & fionil like it was in the manga which was better for the pacing and had good impact vs a funny clip of marcille running back and forth.

i don't dislike when adaptations add or change stuff, but placing them cleanly is important. dunmeshi is already really funny! i don't think it needs help being funnier by reaching for the cheap laugh. when laios sees two people running for their lives from a basilisk and he just goes "wow that's a bad way to run from that monster", it's already lowkey hilarious - all the more so followed by marcille telling mr. monster-know-it-all to go rescue them if he knows what's up and him rescuing them by making himself big and chicken squawking real loud (which embarrasses marcille and chil, but c'mon guys, at least his idea worked!). i feel like the comedy in laios' funny hero moment is undercut by forcing the marcille butt of the joke moment in the anime.

dunmeshi is already incredibly good at just about everything it does. i feel if an adaptation wants to add or change something, it's often better amplifying a strength or shoring up a weakness in the source material. BTR adds a lot to the source (not hard considering the source is a 4koma) and makes already funny things even funnier. the "we should all get social media" scene is elevated to iconic status with the visual of bocchi glitching out + the VA's inhuman screech. i can't say where i'd really want to change or add stuff to dunmeshi, since it really feels so good and whole, but i'm sure there's room in the process of translating manga panels to animated scenes, and i think the direction overall could've been better (comparing most shows to BTR isn't fair i know because BTR is directed & adapted so well it's hydrogen bomb vs. coughing baby territory)

i've mostly said negative stuff, but i don't want it to sound like i hate or even really dislike the adaptation. i think when it comes to a series you really love, you want to see the best adaptation possible within reason, and the disappointment of stuff not being quite what you were hoping for is amplified by so many other recent adaptations being so good.

dunmeshi does not have a bad anime by any means, but a lot of that is thanks to the source material's quality. if they do another season, i hope they have more time/budget/whatever because i think a lot of the parts it does have are good parts! but in this case, i wasn't hoping for good; i was hoping for great.

trigger makes great shows with wacky storylines (in some ways, the same one wacky storyline, but that's a different discussion) and dunmeshi, being directed by someone who's worked on a bunch of trigger stuff (largely sci-fi leaning), maybe needed some more direction from people who've worked on fantasy stuff? i can't say for sure what would've been enough to take the show over the top, but though i generally don't hope for much from adaptations, i really did have higher hopes for this one than it ended up achieving.

overall it seems i'll end up scoring the show a 7 or 7.5 when i finish the season, though there's certainly still room to wow us all. whatever you feel about the adaptation, whether you liked it or not, whether or not you've read the manga, feel free to comment your thoughts below or in my inbox. let's keep it free of manga spoils for anime-only watchers, though!

Bonus points for that one post i saw once of someone making a joke about our skeletons being entirely cartilaginous. Like you joke and you jest but I Think Youre Onto Something!!!!! I wasn't exactly an expert on cartilage so i didnt like. Check when anything got broken, i couldn't have known for sure, BUT. That might explain the untenable contortionist maneuvers i was capable of 💪😎!!!

I just adore all of the art and writing that really leans into how we ARENT entirely human... bc If there's one thing thats Always bugged me in scifi media, its when stories go "hey look at this alien!" Like they didnt just put a normal, plain-bread human being in front of me. GET REAL!!! WE WERE BOTH FREAKS OF NATURE AND THAT WAS THE BEST THING ABOUT US!!! It's so fucked that even the Fandom will sometimes slide into this binary of "well if theres at least Some human in them, then we may as well treat them as Completely human, except for Knives who gets to be considered More Plant *only* because he actively rejects the human part of him", which I can see having good intentions but liekkkk....., it's not *true to 'life'*, as it were? We were just like Rem said, another merger between the two species -- Nightow used the term "evolution" explicitly while describing how we and Tesla Happened in a tweet, iirc!! Taking the story and fan content in through that sort of lens definitely makes the extremely humanized depictions of me and my brother kind of disappointing to see. Like... youre missing out on what Actually makes us special to focus on the fact that canon-us are two conventionally attractive, blond haired, blue eyed, ambiguously "white" men who shoot guns real good and kill thousands in sweeping blows? And relegate the plants Entirely to just being Pretty Plot Devices?🤨📸

I liked both sides of me. I loved helping humans, and I loved helping my sisters. It was trying to do that under a hail of gunfire for an *takes deep breath* ENTIRE CENTURYYYYY‼‼‼ That made it so difficult and dangerous! I had the plot!! I HAD THE PLOT!! Call me idealistic call me unrealistic idgaf BETTER WORLDS ARE POSSIBLE! The barriers stopping us are the ones we built around our own hearts, the ones that keep us from being honest and working together our of fear of getting hurt!! Anyway.

Me and my brother were a fair bit less humanoid, from what i can remember. - nope, and don’t plan to. love the monsters but no way am i passing all these issues onto offspring.

- well, writings a big one (no surprise there). but i also draw allllll the time. i paint, write poems, bake, collect things, listen to music, and watch a lotttt of movies.

Not sure if you've answered this before, I'm a newcomer to your blog (congrats with cat guy btw, he sounds like everything I'd dream of in a guy 0////0 like omfg u guys are so fkn cute I'm gonna die) but what were your experiences with Hinge?

I'm like THIS close to diving into dating apps but Tinder scares me a bit in its popularity, also thanks to the countless stories I've heard growing up of people exploiting others sjdkshjdjs. Im 21 and also live kinda rural in a "city" with like 15,000ish people and I'm a smidge worried it's too small of a place to do dating app shenanigans safely, ykwim? Hinge sounds like a neat app but I've heard of a few technical problems and glitches (well, as you do every dating app lol), and I'm not gonna be paying for anything either, and I was just curious how you found it.

I have a board of derectives, the veto crew, the Cock Council if you will 🤣 who are gonna help me through this whole chapter. So gl me 😎🤙

I'd say my experience with Hinge has been pretty okay, though I have run into some weird glitches before. Granted, I've only gone on dates with three guys on that app, but I think that's more than the other apps I've been using. I've also gotten dates using Bumble and CMB, but never gotten a date using Tinder, simply because it's more of a "hookup culture" app than anything else, and I just never really wanted to swipe on there even though I have an account? Of course, every app has their risks, and not everyone on those apps are good people but I feel like Tinder definitely is less trustworthy than the other apps, especially because it is the most popular dating app out there, so you've got basically every type of person on there. Some with good intentions, some without.

Hinge works well enough without needing to pay, and I feel like the layout is just much cleaner than the other dating apps I've used.

Hinge > Bumble = CMB > Tinder in terms of layout (for me).

Hinge > Bumble > CMB > Tinder in terms of finding someone (again, at least for me).

But yes to the "Cock Council" 100% HAHAHA. It's a must!!

Trust me, all of my friends know about me being on these dating apps and about all the dates I've gone on, so I run to them for advice (as well as here on Tumblr because some of you people are good at this shit fr) whenever needed, and they kinda give me a third party perspective on things when I get really into my head. For example, had a call with my friend the day before yesterday about cat guy and him changing his Hinge profile, and she helped calm the hell down because I was DEFINITELY stressing about it a bit too much lol.

Anyway, good luck with the apps. Stay safe, meet in public if you ever do go on a first date (goes without saying, really), and be patient. You won't find someone instantaneously (I guess some people are really lucky in this department) and there will be times when things go a little dry. Also, Hinge has a like limit of 8 per day, so just keep that in mind when you're swiping. Use the prompts to the best of your abilities to showcase the traits you have, or the hobbies and interests you want to use to draw people in. Use good pictures, or at least ones that are more recent, if you're able to.

Back from that primary care appointment, which thankfully didn't seem to go too badly? *fingers crossed*

I wasn't sure what to expect, what with its being my first actual appointment there and all. But, they didn't even want to weigh me or take my blood pressure or anything (both of which had me a tad worried, tbh), and the doctor I saw seemed nice enough. We didn't have to wait long, and they also didn't have any problem with Mr. C coming back too.

Mostly it was a basic "gee, this looks complicated, what actually needs attention right now?" intake review, and I did hand over the gastro referral paperwork for them to send where it needs to go. 😎

I continued with the "I am a dumb foreigner who doesn't know how anything works yet, pls halp?!" routine, and they also scheduled me in to their lab there for the blood draw before the upcoming endocrinology appointment while I was there. (So I get to roll right back over tomorrow morning, in the circadian middle of the night for me! 🥴 No drop ins right now, because Plague Time.) I should also be hearing back about an appointment with their asthma nurse.

Incidentally, the only time my weight even came up was in the context of concern that it wasn't dropping too much, what with the whole "persistently unable to eat properly" thing and all. 😮 Both a relief, and hopefully a promising indication!

Hell, she also seemed to connect on her own that just maybe that whole situation could make the diabetes harder to manage? Which is several steps up from what I have mostly come to expect.

But, the major thing she wanted to discuss was my ongoing pain management. 🙃 Especially after that initial phone consultation before, with the other guy who sounded Very Concerned And Uncomfortable? That was something I did go in half-expecting and dreading in advance.

In the meantime, I should at least have another prescription for what I've been successfully taking for a while now, with minimal problems. So, not as bad as I was halfway anticipating.

But, both the pregabalin AND tramadol are apparently now Less Favored Drugs in the Swedish system, because addiction concerns. And she is going to need to consult further with some colleagues on how to proceed. 😰

Once again, I found myself extra-glad to be wearing a mask, because I really doubt that more readily visible Stressed Autistic Face would have helped me. At any point in a medical appointment, but maybe especially during that discussion. 😑 As it was, I think I managed to come across as understandably cautious about changing what has been working, but without setting off any potential red flags with visibly ND "weird" reactions? It's just a shame that people DO need to worry about any of this shit.

I mean, she did seem to get that "chronic pain from blatantly obvious nerve damage is Really Not Good", which was also better than it could have been. We'll just have to hope that this might be taken into account when they go monkeying around with my prescriptions in what sounded like the near future.

One silver lining, in a way: at least these days I DO have some very visible and thoroughly "medically explained" reasons for ongoing pain. Which is unfortunately so much better situation than so many other people with chronic conditions are in.

But, sorry that they do seem to have gotten kind of weird about chronic pain management here too. One of the few benefits of dealing with the NHS, IME. They didn't seem nearly as bad about it, at least dealing with readily obvious, already diagnosed issues.

Hopefully not to anywhere near the same extent as back in the good old US of A, but yeah. We'll just have to see.

(And of course worrying about that now isn't going to do any practical good whatsoever. Tell that to Medical Trauma Brain... 🙄)
