we can all agree himaruya should STAY BACK 🤺🤺 AWAY from korea atp...but I feel like it's not wrong to have nk and sk as separate personification?

there's differences in northern korean language and culture which is why it's a challenge for north korean refugees here to sort of "blend in" for a lack of a better term("단물/sweet water in nk, 주스/joo-seu in sk, 려권/passport in nk, 여권/passport in sk, because of the accent difference)

north and south korea, as they are, were sort of created by imperialist forces and that's a given. but this isn't the first time the north and south were split, hence why I personally consider north and south korea to have existed as goguryeo and silla.

I know some ppl have done it so that nksk are kids born from a korea personification in 1945, but it's too imperialist leaning: OLD dead korea vs NEW korea...I don't like hitting korea with the mama greece beam(which has also been done terribly), and I'm especially wary of the way postcolonial korea is depicted bc of that fuckign ass rusame ass white colonizer ass promised to me ao3 fic

personality and geographically wise, making nksk goguryeo and silla works as well:

north: represented goguryeo and balhae -> heavily militaristic and cold, land less arable -> did the military planning during joseon -> urged sk to build up arms during empire of korea era -> probably led/talked to the koreans in china more during colonization wrt assassination plans etc -> responded to american imperialism the only way he could reason to in his mind, with hypermilitarism as a form of self defense

hence why the south as silla, that didn't have much of these problems, had things like basic safety and security needs met and could spend time doing and focusing on other things like creating a whole ass bone rank system

nk to sk during goryeo dynasty: you guys were determining what colors and what size houses 12 different types of people could wear and live in? we were too busy repelling invasions from manchuria lol

and yeah korean history here is taught as one especially in the joseon era! however, skorea leans more towards silla as a bias lol

okay i've said before "maybe himaruya is wrong about some things" but i think the thing himaruya is most wrong about is making "north korea" and "south korea" separate nations that represent history... sure that reflects like the reality states wise but politically it's so incorrect.... there's no difference between the north korean and south korean people in terms of language or really much in terms of culture like north and south italy (or. idk. north and south india which isn't a thing in hetalia despite north india and south india having entirely different languages and cultures). sure there might be exclusive regional traditions but the korean peninsula is more commonly perceived as a singular nation that is artificially divided at the parallel. this is probably because himaruya is japanese but personally i feel like we probably should stray away from japanese people's opinions on korea (hint: it's a lot of empire apologia)

I think the best part about Jinchul in SLr is the fact that they kept dropping small details here and there about just how extremely serious he is about protecting earth, but you dont get the full picture until you get to meeting him that you are just like "oh wow hes gone off the rails OKAY!"

Although I think the part that drove home for me that he was just, not thinking sanely would have to be when he proposed the choker bombs on Villains to be wrapped around their neck. Or you know, when he just gave full on permition to Taeshik and other people to go ahead and kill villains and pay them for that. I mean, its obvious when you hear it from me, right now, that Jinchul was obviously crossing the line way before we got told directly that 'yup hes not well mentally.' but considering most action manhwas and, just the general vibe about action fantasy has about stripping criminals from human rights and simply letting them die a gruesome death (heck even SL had bunch of those moments) I was like "oh yeah Jinchul is just being hyped as this hero of justice following along Jinwoo's steps to guide people"

BUT NO, instead Daul really said "This man is suffering a past trauma that he constantly relives in his dreams, he fears everyday that the war hes seen will come back again, porbably even worse, and for that he wants the world to be prepared. Hes on constant alert, hes choosing to take extreme measures for the sake of humanity, the lonelyness he has held for so long has not made him stronger by any means but instead so much more insecure becuase now the only person he has in his life is basically a god, unable to protect earth anymore as he has always done. And as the only one who knows the past he is consumed by the pressure of doing everything he can in order to not let the earth descend into chaos. He cannot even choose to have the past erased becuase those memories just refuse to leave him, and even if he did have the choice, he would NEVER want to erase them, no matter how much its poisoning his mind, no matter how much he suffers. Becuase he's just a man."

And thats just without the shipping goggles off, with them on it just hurts , it just hurts. To Jinchul, Jinwoo is a friend, a family, a hunter, a hero, a god-- his only one-, a monarch, a human, a survivor and the entire reason the world still persists. (While also not mentioning hes the sole reason of Jinchul's trauma since the more he spends with Jinchul the more hes afected by his aura. same to what happened with Ilhwan.) Brother hes MORE than codependent on that man than anyone of us will ever be.

Idk which post that was but there was a comment that said, "Sunjae is so Han Seojun coded" and I felt a deja vu. The whole cool dude persona on the outside while being a softie on the inside...simping hard for the girl he likes but trying to make it not too obvious.

All the scenes they show with Sol reciprocating Sunjae's feelings is EVERYTHING I wanted to see between Seojun and Jukyung.

I know the True Beauty drama fandom has been divided between Lee Suho and Han Seojun from the very beginning. Even a huge part of Seojun fandom don't exactly ship Seojun with Jukyung because she never noticed his efforts. But that's how Im Sol and Ryu Sunjae started off as well and would've ended like that as well if the time jump element wasn't added to the story.

Even the fanfiction writers don't do justice a lot of times to this pairing,to tie up the lose ends and the what ifs.

Lovely Runner two sided confession scenes on the other hand...esp a well established idol Sunjae still hung up on that one girl he liked in highschool,who rejected his confession and him still keeping her photo...EVERYTHING ABOUT THAT SCENE SCREAMED HAN SEOJUN. And something I desperately wanted to see between Seojun and Jukyung.

And this is why Lovely Runner pulls me in. This specific reason.

I know people would say, what's Suho's fault in this. He loved her first and loved her sincerely too. No fault. I'd just prefer a Frenemies to Friends to Lover story added with angst and slowburn over another cliche Cinderella story.

After Seojun becomes busy with his career and isn't a constant part of Jukyung's life anymore- both due to professional and personal reasons,I wanted to see Jukyung starting to miss him inwardly. Even with Suho by her side,I wanted to see her struggling to come to terms that she feels like a huge spot in her life has been empty. Of course she doesn't think of it much other than missing a friend who was a significant part of her life. That changes when he hears Seojun singing a sing soulfully dedicated to her,making her involuntarily cry. Suho notices everything but says nothing for a while,hoping he is reading too much into things. But that changes when he sees Jukyung visibly upset over a dating rumor of Seojun. Even Jukyung is confused why she is upset that her once bestie finally found someone. Is she upset because she wasn't the first person to know about it, that she doesn't know what's actually going on with his life anymore...until Suho decides to speak up the reason- okay, I should stop here. This post is already too long.

But in my vision, Seojun and Jukyung(drama version) will always end up together when they get older because theirs was a very natural and organic relationship in contrast to the fairytale-ish Suho Jukyung.

And that is what I felt with Soljae. Sol couldn't see beyond Taesung and never even noticed Sunjae's presence but look how the time travelling changed things. Making Seokyung a thing wasn't impossible if makers wanted to(you have probably heard this for 98397584793485 times already).
