For people like me who don't know anything about the situation, here's what I found: (please note that: I'm very very far from an expert, English isn't my native language, and I'm trying to keep this short so there's a lot I won't mention here)

Last weekend, there was the presidential election in Venezuela, which the BBC describes as: "long queues, delay and difficulties registering to vote". As an example of "difficulties", there are 7.8 millions Venezuelans (about 25% of the population) who are not living in the country, and many of them were just not able to vote.

President Nicolás Maduro, who among other things is under investigation for crimes against humanity, was officially re-elected after months / years of trying to shut down all political opposition. And by "officially re-elected" I mean that the National Electoral Council (CNE), a group dominated by Maduro's allies, announced Monday that he won the election without sharing the details.

Meanwhile the opposition, lead by María Corina Machado and Edmundo González, contests the results, saying they got 70% of the votes, and published detailed tally sheets on a website that is apparently blocked by Maduro's regime.

There's a bunch of other very good reasons to believe that the election was rigged by an awful unpopular dictator who is desperately clinging to his power. Other countries are also skeptical and are demanding transparency about the results.

Since the announcement, Venezuelans are protesting in the capital, Caracas, to show their opposition. The protests have been brutally repressed by the police: a dozen people were killed, many more injured, and more than 750 arrested. And those numbers most likely increased since I wrote that sentence.

That's what I know for now. Again, I'm just a French white woman whose entire knowledge of the situation is the last hours spent reading articles about the elections. I'm ignorant of a lot of things and I'm very biased. Still, I'm rooting for the Venezuelans. I wish them luck, I wish them strength, I wish them to kick that bastard's ass and get back their freedom! ✊

basic stuff: he's a young teenager, probably 13? not super sure... he is a guy. he/him. he has albinism (i know his eye colour is unrealistic dw) and he's a bit (incredibly) rude (he's so mean) he's based off spring heeled jack, the old urban legend. he's basically trying to be the sequel lmao.

more detail stuff from here (sorry if any of it is difficult to understand, also it is possible it could change in the future)

he is from a small village which is incredibly superstitious to the point where it affects the everyday life very heavily, he is not superstitious at all though. he is VERY skeptical about everything. these superstitions also ended up affecting him very heavily cuz. he got abandoned by his parents cuz they were scared of him and he ended up being bullied very often by other kids. he's very bitter about all that.

he just had to raise himself, learn everything on his own including stuff about his albinism and how it will affect him, especially since he didn't have any shelter to go to. he never had any friends or anyone who would talk to him in a neutral way, they'd all just mock him or be terrified of him. so he doesn't know how to trust or be kind at all.

he does try to dress as formally as he can, though he's still a dirty ass teen who has no clue how to clean himself. (really wish i was able to show that better in his design but oh well) his clothes are just taken from the trash.

eventually he got really fed up and decided to get revenge on the people by taking full advantage of the village's superstition, by pretending to be an old urban legend - he wouldn't even do any real harm but they'd act like he did! so boom, he's spring heeled jack now and he goes and just. causes mild inconveniences for people and they're fucking shitting themselves. he got pretty athletic because of the entire, 'spring heeled' part. he only ever does it at night, so that it's dark and difficult to see anything. he avoids doing genuinely harmful stuff as much as possible but he'd probably fuck up once or twice because. he has a blow torch or something.. for the fire breathing.

he continues this for literal years and eventually someone in the village sends a letter to the great professor layton and blah blah. layton and luke would have an adventure, iunno where it'd take place in the. time line? is that the word..? anyways, layton would figure out that the scary spooky fucked up gentleman demon is just some kid who's upset and been heavily wronged. jackson would just end up living with layton, because even after the tragic backstory reveal the village would still be scared of him

then like. character arc stuff? iunno, im not that far yet with my thoughts. thanks for reading this tho, feel free to give me ideas if you'd like or whatever. also the name of the game (or ig just his story) would be 'professor layton and the returning legend'

I don't think I ever said that I hated Espella?? I understand people's gripes with how her character is written, but it’s a larger problem that goes beyond Espella and expands into the treatment of female characters by the PL writers at large, like you said. I don't really know how you got that impression from me haha, it was probably someone else

Snowpiercer s3e8 thoughts: Why Are Y'all Like This

Howdy this is starting to get interesting again because the last 2-3 episodes were shit I'm sorry.

MEL ALIVE CONFIRMED OH MY GOD???

Os dancing. My sweet man. Although I kinda get LJ too, she's being kept in the dark and she's one of the few people in there smart enough to guess that maybe that's not good.

Also MRS HEADWOOD WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK WHY ARE ALL OF YOU WILFORDITES FUCKING INSANE WHAT W A S T H A T.

Also there's someone in her lab huh. My mum said "oh my fucking god it's gonna be mister Headwood". And no you know what? I see it. Remember when Wilford said something about him and she responded with "I feel he's still with us"?. Yeah, well. That, or Icy Bob, which explains why she's taking tissue samples out of everyone. OR. Or. It's Boki. Which would explain why his actor is still listed for S3.

The more I think about it the more sense it makes IT'S BOKI. IM FUCKING CALLING IT.

I'm starting to like Wilford because legit there's no way he could have set the volcanic ash incident up. How would he know, all the way from the back of the train with no organs to track or calculate it? Not saying he has no motives behind pursuing Melanie at all but still.

Sykes and Javi are so cute together, like even as best friends it's great and I dig their dynamic. And Javi saving her 🥰

Okay everyone, let's talk about the biggest moment of this episode: Asha's sacrifice. It was.... Man, it really fucking hurt, y'know? But all the same it was a fitting end, and her last moments, with Layton describing a better place for her... I feel like she was finally set free from all the pain she's been through. Like legit she was too far gone, she didn't want to keep living, and she died smiling, knowing she's free and that she helped save the people who showed her hope. It was painful, but beautiful. I'm sad we're saying goodbye to Asha and her actress (I love her so much) so soon, not lasting for even one season, but it was a beautifully filmed moment and her death is the only one so far that made real sense to me (Strong Boy, the Aussies and Pike absolutely did not have to die and it was kinda bullshit but with Asha? I felt more than sadness and anger. It did feel like she had done her part and went out in glory, saving everyone).

Also ROCHE AND HIS DAUGHTER... ROCHE IS SUCH A DAD I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

My mum: Ruth is either the only one in there still keeping it together, or she's a great actress and is bottling it all up while exploding on the inside. (My response to this was to show my mum that meme with the dog inside the burning house that's like "this is fine". That's Ruth in this season).

Also speaking of Ruth WHERE IS THE FUCKING BOMB. She was the last one to have it, where did it fucking go?!??? Please tell me she just disabled it and got rid of it I can't take any more betrayal.

Anyway, I hate this episode for its cliffhanger but I can't wait for us to get Mel back next week!!! The promo shows her unconscious but I don't think they'd to through all the trouble to put her back into the show just to kill her on screen while unconscious.

this one’s in an atypical format because it’s MANY. But I met my friend Moon through his comics+character art on dA, and I like to come back to them a lot because all of his characters are very good at articulating the things you can’t articulate. He writes like this Xin Qiji poem that kicks my ass. the implied space speaks volumes. Anyway look at this comic and this comic !!

ok but if I have to pick one character... Well. I’ll do two. Volir and Moebi are very soul-balm characters. Volir especially is like a warm hug shaped like a rosin-voiced, ageless count. Like prof layton and the baron but Cooler. He is a big comfort and you can’t help but feel a little bit of your own hurt and heartache dampened whenever he soothes Moebi’s hurt and heartache.

32. Which one of your OCs would be the most suitable horror game protagonist and why?

This is the funniest fucking question because none of my kneejerk answers are correct.

Reyes, for exactly 2 minutes when the Chief first turns into a funny gorgonopsid, and she’s just a little unhinged because of the blood loss and the narrative uncertainty of whether the Chief is The Same in there or Changed, but Reyes believes, maybe against material proof, that that;s still the chief :) and you know what. she’s right.

Redmond for none minutes because the first thing she does when she sees The Canonical Devil, Jesse Cauldwell, is punch her in the face. I guess she has some          psychological horror nightmare sequences after that but it’s. hmmmmmmmmm.

The only nightmare of Sinuk’s existence is what happened in that black hole, and the fact that she could debone your entire body with one hand if she wanted to. But she would never do that. if a containment breach happens, it’s because Brun is in containment breaking her out.

38. Which one of your OCs would be the best dancer?

Canonically, Ashe was taught traditional Sarikote circledancing by one of his moms and there IS a scene in Basedt (The Stageplay In My Brain) where this becomes plot relevant.

ahhh thank u so much!! that means so much to me ;u; oh my GOSH MONACLE LAYTON!!! i havent thought about him organically in too long sksksks

well so ok if i had to make layton evil at any point in time, the way id do it would be after unwound future. it would be about 2 years after he found randall, but in this scenario he never worked up the courage to call randall or go back and visit after he left Monte D'or so abrubtly, which means losing that friendship was already weighing on his heart. so then after UF, losing claire and luke in the span of the same week... its too much for him. Crying in his room one night, he says "so this is it then? am i destined to always lose the people i love? i will simply never love again." and he snaps. he gets cold and distant, doesnt allow the kindness of others to reach him. all he wants now is vengance, and this man has been wronged by soooooo many people.

The only person still living with him is flora at this point. at first she lets things slide. things like seeing hersh withdraw into his study for too long, or drink too late into the night. but then she notices he stays in his room for days at a time, clearly working on something, but he gets so rude when asked about what. shes always met with answers like "its none of your concern" or "dont ask questions you're not prepared to hear the answer to", until one day she really puts her foot down. Demands to know whats going on. Shes so worried. But hershel screams at her to go away. an ugly, terrible yelling nobody deserves. and its so cold she just,, runs away crying. she cant think of anybody to reach out for help. she doesnt know anybody, she was never allowed to go out and make friends.

until she remembers the stories luke told her about the man they saved in Monte D'or, and she remembers how softly hershel would smile the precious few times he mentioned he name randall.

so she pulls up a phone book and looks up a Randall Ascot. Its not hard considering he owns an entire fucking town. shes crying and scared and alone, and when randall picks up the phone, he is of course concerned. hes never met this girl, but nobody should by crying this much, and then his heart breaks when he realizes its hershel who did this. He was always hurt by how hershel never said goodbye, and never called again to rekindle their friendship. at first he doesn't want to come over, but flora begs him.

"please, randall, you have to help. I know i hardly know you but... nobody else can reach him, i just know it".

so he grabs the nearest train. tells flora take take it easy at a bougie hotel for a night while he makes the trip over, pays for everything ofc. the two meet up. randall falls in love with this girl in .5 seconds (yknow in that "ive only met this girl for 10 minutes but if anything were to happen to her id kill everyone in this room and then myself" kind of way). They decide to just go to hershels flat and knock. he doesnt answer. they knock again. nothing. randall gets worried. he breaks down the door, shouts for hershel. Nobodys there. the place is empty. they enter hershels study to make sure, but what they find horrifies them. a GIANT charlie kelly style board with a bunch of pictures of different people, mostly people connected to bill hawks, and red lines connecting them stand before the two, and they both know in their gut its a hit list of some kind.

so they run to parliment or whatever building it is those goverment people all stay in, hoping its not too late, hope maybe their suspicions arent true. Theyre horrified when they reach the front steps and theres no guards or anything. sirens are blaring. they run down the halls. injured soldier's and police are telling them to turn back, its not worth it, this man is unstoppable.

"please dont let it be hershel, please dont let it be hershel."

flora stops when they reach the big door. she looks up at randall, crying. "im sorry... but i cant go in. i dont want to face him like this."

randall hugs her, reassures her. tells her its ok to wait by the entrance, that everything will be ok.

Flora rushes off, and randall takes a deep breath. He opens the door where bill hawks office is supposed to be. Randalls heart sinks. in the big chair is hershel, a sword covered in red, and tied to chains too close to the fire place is a beat up bill hawks.

hershel greets him coldly, like strangers.

"ah hello there. im sorry, but the prime minister cannot assist you today. please come back later."

"hershel, what are you doing??? that sword.... have you??"

"killed someone? no..." he hops off his chair and points his sword to bill hawks, far too close to the neck. "no not yet. but if youd like, you can join me for the first one."

Randall picks up a pipe or something close to him. "i cant let you do this hershel... i know youre better than this."

"ah, but you see, thats the thing." his blade lightly touches bills neck. "i could be, but then... whats the point?" then he scoffs, and pulls his sword away, pointing it towards randall in a battle stance. "never mind, you could never understand."

and he charges. AND THE EPIC SWORD FIGHT BETWEEN HERSHEL AND RANDALL THAT WE WERE ROBBED OF COMENCES! Randall, between parrys, is in total disbelief. "Hershel, stop it! i know how youre feeling, but this isnt the solution! youre tired, and scared, and unbelievably hurt. youre in so much pain... this isn't going to end that pain!"

"you couldnt possibly know what im feeling. ive lost everyone. but its no matter."

for a moment it looks like hershel is about to pin randall down, but he swoops away at the last minute.

"No, please hershel, you cant think like that!! youre not alone!! not anymore!! You didnt give up on the masked gentleman... let me return the favor!"

hershel gasps at this, and hesitates. its enough for randall to knock hershels sword out of his hands, and pin him to the ground. Hershel is afraid, his eyes are wide.

"r-randall, stop it!! leave me alone!"

"no!" randall throws the pipe he fought with aside. "not until you make things right!" he starts crying, his tears spill on hershels shirt. "not until i get my best friend back..."

hershel can't take it anymore. He screams, and starts crying uncontrollably. that ugly crying you reserve for your worst moments, and randall softens his grip on hersh, changes it so hes hugging his friend. And hershel just cries and cries and cries.

"i... i just dont want to live like this anymore..." he sobs.

"hershel.... oh hershel, im so, so sorry."
