a walking paradox, teetering quietly on the edge of creation and destruction. born a demiguardian, a sort of being said to be greater than a god, only to die in a very human way—from disease. her soul, too resilient and too important to pass on so easily, was given a second chance at life. gently touched by corruption, a world-destroying force, the very thing that demiguardian magic exists to counter. a cataclysm. her being was destroyed, rebuilt. she came back as this. no longer dead, but never living. most of her abilities have remained in-tact, though now, everything comes with a catch. demiguardians could be capable of molding reality like clay, but every bit of essence kathy touches is prone to becoming scrambled and broken. souls appear to her as luminous wisps, floating aimlessly through the open air. she can reach out, touch them. save them. resurrect them. but every life she touches always comes back wrong. it's a curse, knowing that she has the tools to help, but that all of her efforts will be in vain. shortly after her resurrection, she was imprisoned. locked away in the confines of an isolated pocket dimension by a spiteful torvjan man. there, she spent years in quiet solitude. almost-isolation. she populated the reality she was being held in with resurrect souls. monsters of her own making. she cannot tell if she is proud of herself for giving said souls a second chance, or if she despises herself for corrupting them with her own terrible magic. in present day, she feels a more like a husk than a woman.

in incredibly simple terms, torvja embody destruction, whereas demiguardians embody creation. kathy, being a hybrid of both, should not exist. she is broken in a very literal sense. none of her abilities work right, and she constantly runs the risk of shattering reality instead of shaping it.

she's remarkably unpleasant to be around, but that isn't entirely her fault; she sees no point in trying to be friendly if people refuse to treat her like a person.

a highly reserved and repressed individual. in life, she was forced to be outgoing, agreeable, and accommodating. it was beyond exhausting. when you’re entire identity is tailored around pleasing others, you begin to lose sight of who you really are. thus, in death, she is fiercely protective of her individuality, favoring isolation to arbitrary social obligation.
