BnHA One-Shot Fic Recs (pt1)

Making some fic-rec posts has been on my to-do list for a while and I’m finally doing it, yay! Currently I have 6 word doc pages full of just BnHA recs. So I’m splitting them up by length and completion, so first up is (part one of) one-shots! Let’s go!!!

Lets start with some classic Izuku and DadMight!

However, somehow, the boy still decided that there was something vital missing. This is fluffy and very cute. No one truly appreciates All Might as much as Izuku does, but 1A comes close. All Might deserves all the love, and this fic truly provides!!!

Dear Mr. All Might by QuizzicalCrow (tumblr: @quizzicalcrow​ ) Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~5,000 words Summary: As the #1 hero for decades, All Might has collected a lot of fan mail over the years. Toshinori tracks down a series of letters that only now, years later, does he appreciate for their significance.  I always love the thought of All Might looking through his fan mail, even if he can’t get to all of it. This was a wonderful glimpse into that AND it was made to be so, so personal and sweet. Go have some heart-healing fluff.

Growing Pains by LordofLies (tumblr: @theangelofchildren ) Rating: G   Category: Gen    ~5,900 words Summary: Izuku finds himself changed by his encounter with the Hero Killer, but changes of a more physical kind are in store for him as he begins to truly accept One for All as his own. Once, he would have been thrilled to look more like All Might, but now those connections are as much a source of anxiety as they are of pride.Or, Izuku wakes up one morning and sees the world through different eyes. Izuku having anxiety and Toshi being there to help him through it and calm him down? Sign me UP. Its also a pretty cool take on how One for All is able to change things about it’s holder. Could this happen in cannon? Who knows.... Regardless, it was a great read!

I’ll Carry You Home by Renesvetta Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~2,700 words Summary: While training with All Might, it wasn’t uncommon for Izuku to be so exhausted at the end of the day that he unwittingly fell asleep without regard for where he was. It consequently became part of All Might’s routine to help his young protégé home. During that time, Izuku may have let loose more than one sleepy confession towards his mentor.  Yes, it is as adorable as it sounds. Its tagged with “self indulgent Dad Might fluff” which is both accurate and appreciated. In other words: Superb you funky little writer!

Simple Gifts by QuizzicalCrow Rating: G    Category: Gen   ~6,700 words Summary: One year ago, Izuku received the greatest gift he could ever imagine. Now he’s determined to return the favor for the one responsible for it all with a gift of his own.  First off, I love the idea of Izuku and Toshi quietly celebrating the anniversary of passing on OfA from All Might to Izuku. Even just taking the day to hang out with each other. It’s a really precious idea. But there’s not just fluff! Izuku finds himself in a fight, again. (cool villain quirk, too!) I love all of the small details that are in this fic (and in Crow’s other works, too!) anyway its exciting AND very heartwarming, so go read it!!!

Affectionate by Sevi007 (tumblr: @sevi007 ) Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~2,600 words Summary: Toshinori starts to show affection very easily around his students. The  reactions he gets for that are not quite the ones he had anticipated - well, not all of them, at least.  Toshi is LOVED, APPRECIATED, and 1A feels like HOME. how many times can i say “cute” and “heartwarming” on this post?? bc these are some amazing writers, whom I adore, and their writing makes my heart WARM. AND. FUZZY. i mean, even just the first few paragraphs of this one just, really sets the scene of what i like to believe the 1A dorm is (on a good day, lol). its a really nice read, so go treat yo’ self by reading it.

paint me in trust by dinomight Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~6,400 words Summary: The first mark Izuku gets is a slight brush of green across his temple. It’s the soft touch of a mother holding her son for the first time. Inko has one to match, the same shade of green staining the tips of her fingers. Hers is more noticeable; Izuku’s tends to blend into his hairline. He loves it anyways. He has to. It’s the only soulmate mark he has. (Or: how Izuku goes from just green to a rainbow, UA-style.)  Ok, so this fic sort of plays off the idea of soulmates, and does not fit in with soulmates in the usual form of the trope. First off its completely platonic. Its categorized as Gen and sticks to that. Also it doesn’t seem to be as obligatory and permanent as you would think it would be. It seems to be more of the universe telling you who has the possibility of being important in your life. I really really loved this, it was so adorable and gives you that sweet, sweet Izuku angst, before healing your heart with the power of friendship and found family!!!

The Die Has Been Cast by ChiwiTheKiwi (tumblr: @chiwithekiwi​ ) Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~5,400 words Summary: “There’s something about that kid you aren’t telling me, isn’t there?”When no answer meets him, Shouta tries again.“You know something about Midoriya’s quirk that you haven’t shared with me. Is that right?”(Or: A canon "What If" surrounding the latest manga events and focusing on Aizawa finally making a connection.) First off, this fic has spoilers for the manga, so dont read unless you’re past chp212! I loooooooove OfA reveal fics, especially when it’s Aizawa that finds out. He deserves to know!!! its kind of important!!!! This fic chooses a great moment to work off of, and does a great job with Aizawa’s character. I really enjoyed it and couldn’t keep myself from going back and reading it just now LOL

These last two are actually two-shots, but it makes it an even 10! also Izuku and dadmight, so we can continue the theme here...

Some Unspoken Thing by LittleKy Rating: G   Category: Gen   ~7,900 words (2chps) Green, Toshinori has always thought, is the color of life anew.(Or: It's time for Yagi Toshinori to finally accept that he has a son, now, in all but blood. It's time for Midoriya Hisashi to accept that as well.) YES ALL MIGHT! ADMIT THAT IZUKU IS YOUR SON! great portrayal of the characters and really hits the nail on the head for DadMight. and Izuku in this story is just the smallest green floof that you wish to give a hug. Now that the actual recs are over I can rant here- look i really tried to slim my recs down, but i have almost 300 bnha fics bookmarked,some of them are “to read” or theyre in progress, etc but i managed to get this list sorta slimmed down? a little?(to only 58!!!) but as i was gathering this post together it felt like i dont have very many Dadmight recs on that list??? but i havent rechecked all the other fics i was just going through the oneshots. i... kinda read a lot more fics with AIzawa in it instead. it be that way. DadMight content is SO GOOD. but my fav is aizawa im sorryyyyy anyway i have another SEVENteeN oneshots to put in rec posts and that does NOT include the mulitchapter and friikin series and stuff... and like i said this is aaaaaaallllllllllllllll BnHA. batfam fic posts will come after, and then star wars, and then maybe star trek? we’ll see. i have a very specific taste in ST fics and that is Tarsus IV whump. which. i have not read in a while. when they say “that trope came from ST” for sooooooo many tropes, you WISH other fandoms had tarsus as a trope, holy crap it is TOP TIER angst fodder. if you love to write/read whump, angst, and h/c i would HIGHLY recommend that you take a bit of time and explore the content and stories there. heck maybe i will make a ficrec post for just tarsus angst. ok.

Holidays + Mortal Kombat Duos

I made a text post yesterday, and this idea sprang up from it. I’m just procrastinating my time away, because im too lazy to do my assignments zzzzz

Hanzo Hasashi and Kuai Liang

-          Both of them plan everything to the last detail; Every food stop, every toilet break, and every sight-seeing visit have their specific time allotment.

-          They start the day early, because the early bird catches the worm. They want to enjoy their holiday, and have a leisurely time sight-seeing. They don’t want to panic and rush around from place-to-place, and never properly relaxing on their time off.

-          Before the trip, both of them also read up on the history of the places they’re visiting, and get a guide to show the around. They want to learn, and soak in as much as they can about anything and everything.

-          The start of their adventure begins at Japan, because it’s Hanzo’s birthplace (and Kuai Liang wants to pay his respects to Hanzo’s late wife and son).

-          They travel to the castles and temples in the region, enjoy the lush greenery of the beautiful gardens while listening to the soothing sounds of water flowing in the compound

-          If there’s a festival during their visit, Hanzo helps Kuai pick out a Yukata to wear and both of them enjoy watching the fireworks while sipping sake and eating dango in one of the local shops

-          No trip to Japan is complete without an Onsen visit. So they stay at Kyushu for a while, and enjoy soaking in the private hot-springs filled with all sorts of healing water

-          Their next stop begins at China, at the former Lin Kuei Temple. Hanzo allows some time for Sub-Zero’s moment of nostalgia, to reflect and bury his ghosts within the desolate walls

-          They trek around China’s forests and mountains, hiking around the shores of Li River to enjoy the peaceful scenery

-          Both of them stop at the tea shop in every village they visit, because Kuai Liang wants Hanzo to try Chinese Herbal Tea of all variants

-          Kuai Liang even brings Hanzo to the Chinese sinseh for all sorts of herbs and massages, that Hanzo is reluctant to join at first, but enjoys nevertheless because damn, his bones feel like a Thousand bucks.

-          They end their adventure in Disneyland, and have that one photo of them posing with Mickey Mouse as a token of remembrance of a time well spent

Kung Lao and Liu Kang

-          When they travel, they don’t exactly have a plan. They know where to go, and what to do, they just haven’t planned out in a set routine per say

-          So they start their day early, jumping from one place to another.

-          They backpack around the more rural villages first, hang out with the locals to learn the ins-and-outs of the local tradition and lifestyle.

-          All the children love Liu Kang and Kung Lao. In fact, they spend some of their evenings playing games with the children and showing them some Shaolin tricks to entertain them with

-          Whenever they visit a Buddhist temple, they pay their respects and donate a little for the upkeep. They know how hard it’s like taking care of a monastery.

-          But even both of them have their adventurous streaks, and it usually starts with Kung Lao.

-          Anything you can do, I can do better, is Kung Lao’s motto.

-          Both of them go on all sorts of thrill rides; River-rafting, bungee jumping, hell, free climbing the Grand Canyon.

-          Liu Kang is using both hands? Kung Lao will do him better, he’ll climb the Grand Canyon, with ONE hand. Get rekt.

-          Whenever there’s a Stephen Chow movie playing in the local theatre, Kung Lao is the one dragging Liu Kang to watch it with him. He doesn’t care if he’s already watched it for the 13th time, they are going to watch that movie.

-          Both of them have travelled to Australia, and Iceland, and on both occasions; They went there specifically to see the Southern and Northern Lights. Both of them are in awe of all green, purples and blues ripple in the sky.

-          Occasionally, they would bump into Erron and Kabal. Kung Lao even has a photo of him and Erron on a roller coaster together, big, big smiles on their face while holding onto their hats for dear life.

Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade

-          Usually, Johnny lets Sonya decide where their travel destination would be because she’s a little fussy when it comes to travelling.

-          Johnny tries his best to avoid tourist attraction areas, because he knows he’s bound to be recognized and the mans just wants to enjoy his time off with his ex-wife without paparazzi following his every move.

-          Both of them travel first-class because they have the money to indulge on more comfortable seats (And join the Airline’s Mile High Club winkwink)

-          Cassie is always updated because Johnny and Sonya send photos of their food and selfies together, and it makes Cassie happy to see that her parents are very much in love with each other.

-          No matter where they go, Sonya always asks Johnny if he’s okay with her travel plans, and if he has anything specific in mind. He usually does, and it’s either the local arts theatre or the opera. She enjoys the theatre and doesn’t mind watching the Lion King, but she struggles to stay awake during the opera because she can barely understand the words despite reading about it before she came.

-          She’s not alone though, because Johnny is also struggling to stay awake and they both leave during the break.

-          Johnny always makes sure that there is a romantic dinner during their holiday. He wants to pamper Sonya, and shower her with all his love and attention.

-          He always books dinner at a fancy restaurant in the city they’re in, and books the whole restaurant for their privacy. He buys a large bouquet of flowers for her, and buys the most expensive wine there is because Sonya deserves nothing more than the best.

-          Sonya is embarrassed, and flattered all the same. She appreciates the fact that Johnny still makes an effort to woo her despite the years between them.

Erron Black and Kabal

-          If Kung Lao and Liu Kang are sporadic, then they’re downright chaotic. They don’t have a plan, and they don’t have an exact place in mind. All it takes is for Kano to try and push off some of his work unto them, and they’re gone.

-          They usually just go with the flow, and take any plane, train, taxi, truck, boat going anywhere. They don’t keep track of where they’re going, and don’t bother to as long as Kano can’t find them.

-          One time, they took a boat to nowhere, and landed themselves right in Shang Tsung’s island. Erron is less than amused about the whole situation, but Kabal has his camera out, ready to shoot a whole Buzzfeed unsolved style video about the island. They managed to get 1 million views on it.

-          One other time, they broke into a high-security Military Base in the Tundra because they ran out of food. It’s a mystery to the security guards in the base, as to how the food keeps disappearing despite their religious restocking. It’s also a mystery as to why there’s less bear sightings in the Tundra.

-          Both of them somehow end up in Australia, and bring an Emu back to the Black Dragon Base to peck the shit out of Kano.

-          You can take the man out of Black Dragon, but you can’t take out the Black Dragon out of him. Occasionally, Erron would get bored and he would drag Kabal to an illegal underground fighting ring for some good ol’ tumble and rumble. Erron and Kabal tag-team y’all.

-          Erron’s kicked Kabal into the Sea of Blood just because.

-          Both of them enjoy bar-hopping, because Erron holds his liquor a little too well, and Kabal just wants to nurse a scotch or two while enjoying his fries and burgers.

-          At some point, they’ve met Kung Lao and Liu Kang at the beach, and all of them were wearing the same Hawaiian shirt they’ve bought from the local shop.

this ooc intro is nothing compared to uma thurman as poison ivy walking in dressed in a pink gorilla suit, but i’m k and i am very excited to be here ! i haven’t played ivy in too long and i’ve been missing it ! tbh i,, lowkey just,, pull from arcs and verses i like,, so with that said,, here we have an ungodly amalgam of new 52, gcs, life and death, and no man’s land !

ok so we love the new 52 bg

ivy, at the time pamela ofc, was born with a very rare skin condition that made it so she was unable to go outside without an extreme prescribed lotion. 

but that was a problem because she loved gardening! but back to that later-

her father was... very abusive ( y’all who haven’t read her n52 bg just WAIT for it ), but always ‘made up’ for it by bringing ivy’s mother flowers after hurting her. she began planting the flowers with ivy and told her about the healing process flowers essentially induced. we love a nice mother/daughter relationship.

well, one day, this child was minding her own business when, lo’ and behold, her father had killed her mother and buried her in their garden.

y’all see what i mean by “WAIT for it” i was shook to my core.

skip somewhere around a decade later because dc isn’t the best at full coverage and her father’s in jail and she’s in college, selling pheromone pills in an attempt to see if they ~manipulate the mind~ as she theorizes they might. bada bing, bada boom, she gets caught and is on the verge of expulsion, but manipulates the dean and graduates with two (2) honors.

update: what the fuck how did i forget to mention that she visited her father in jail one day, applied a special lipstick, and gave him a kiss before leaving?

shortly after, she went to work for wayne enterprises in the biochem division, but was fired pretty quickly considering her pills were... lmao immoral? 

however, there was a mixup with security and, while she was beginning to pack her things up, they came in to take her away and wow! get rekt! her compounds spilled all over herself and wound up turning her into the antihero/villain we know today ! they fucked themselves over on that one !

anyway, this is always really weird to type, but ivy essentially became... half human, half plant. i have had to type ‘half plant’ plenty of times in my life, but it never gets comfortable.

so now i’m gonna hop around a little bit and kind of just gloss over other notable arcs that i love and plan on incorporating, but aren’t as Important™ as the bg itself !

but staying inside was basically a suicide mission, what given that their final solution would be spraying it with an INCREDIBLY strong herbicide, thus killing all plant life and... she’s half plant. they said multiple times that the solution would kill her too.

but, you know, given that she’s still alive........ one of the children she’d been sheltering managed to convince her to leave the park........... by also almost dying.

Top 10 Biases

Tagged by @the-princejinyoung! Tbh Shanna, I saw your post and read it, thinking, “wow I’m glad I don’t have to do that because I would literally DIE.” And then I checked by notifications... So, I’ve been having an intense internal conflict since then. Anyway, THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE TAG, SHANNA! Without any further ado, here’s my list (mind you, I literally get REKT quite frequently so this list is as of right now.): 

1. Jeon Jungkook. You have no idea how HARD IT WAS TO COME TO THIS CONCLUSION. I was am literally torn in half. I’m still in denial, but both my roommate and best friend told me that he’s my number 1. I literally feel like I’ve betrayed Jinyoung, don’t talk to me. But he’s literally the golden maknae who reks me. I h8 him so much. (as you can tell by my tags in posts)

2. Kim Taehyung. I originally thought he was my bias in BTS and Jungkook was  a golden bias wrecker... but apparently I was in denial. He’s just a REALLY good bias wrecker. (Search: “The Duality of Taehyung”)

3. The writer, producer, and genius: Min Yoongi. This old, deep soul. Somehow he’s risen up my bias list so fast and SO HIGH. Agust D hit me hard and once you know his humbling backstory, how can you not bias him? 

4. Park Jimin. Mochi, amazing dancer that’s classically trained in modern dance, born in Busan first, VISUAL AF, amazing high notes that even I, a female, cannot reach. Need I say more?

5. Park Jinyoung. HE’S NOT JUNIOR ANYMORE, OK? Sassy savage, mother of 6, has tea to spill but is classier than that. Will judge you without hesitation. Choreographs dances for Got7, actor Park is rising. Have I mentioned his peach? STAN JINYOUNG. I’M SO SORRY IDK HOW YOU GOT TO 5.

6. Kim Seokjin. (I limited myself to 3 members of Bangtan, but my roommate and best friend kept guilt tripping me so I upped it to 5.) OFTEN UNDER APPRECIATED IN BTS. GIVE HIM MORE LINES. TRUE VISUAL. HAS NEVER HAD A BAD ERA, I SWEAR. DAD JOKE CENTRAL. 

7. DEAN. aka my favorite solo artist. Voice like velvet. Was a producer before his solo career. Has written songs for BIEBER, EXO, etc. 

8. Jackson Wang. Wang Puppy!! Literally an angel. My first ever bias. Cares about everyone and everything. Including luggage. I love Jinson.

9. Im Jaebum. If he doesn’t rek you, you’re lying to yourself. A fierce leader who puts up a front, but loves his cats more than anything else in the world. SOFT AS HELL. 

10. Choi Minho. My other OG bias besides Jackson. Dibidibiwhoisdis? SM NEEDS TO STOP NEGLECTING SHINEE.
