in general i wanted to emphasize the weird codependency needy attached-at-the-hip but we also hate eachother sort of "teammates"/friends(???) relationship that you develop in competitive sports... so all the "romantic" gestures throughout the fic can kinda just be boiled down to that. like, in a Normal context, maybe it'd be considered romantic, but in a "im fucking fiending for my life on a tennis court" context then it's just tuesday

sumire IS a walking ITF (international tennis federation) handbook. for reasons i will elaborate on in futchure fic/art! but she takes tennis very VERY seriously. (goro also takes it VERY seriously and akira takes it seriously.)

goro lets sumire call him by his first name abt 3 months into training w her at the academy (with him and akira its like within the first match bc theyre already at eachothers throats LMAO) after her landslide victory! thats when he kinda acknowledges her as a teammate i guess? beforehand they were just hitting partners

anyway the idea of "teammate" in competitive, individual, professional tennis is very fun and interesting to me as u can tell. LMAO. and like "what makes a Friend" versus A Teammate in terms of pro athletics

goro gets embarrassed when akira lets sumire sleep in their room not because of the actual fact of her sleeping there but because he doesn't WANT her to see him with his guard down. she always sees him on the court, ready to conquer his opponents, top-notch quality tennis, etc so he's mortified that she saw him Like that (just woken up LOL) though ofc she doesnt think anythign of it bc shes just like yayyyy tennis yayyy

17. What are some headcanons you have about Tech?

oooo ok i found a couple in my notes app:

When watching a movie, Tech can get bored pretty quickly and usually ends up finding the space wikipedia page on it and listing off random facts about its production as they watch. Him and Echo often get into debates about how the SFX was done.

Less of a headcanon and more of a “what if”, but if Anakin ever piloted the Marauder, Tech would reluctantly agree that objectively Anakin is a pretty good pilot, but he’d grumble the whole time about him “messing up his systems.”

Tech has tried time and time again to convince Echo to let him weaponize his cybernetics. The strategic benefit of hidden weaponry would give them a backup plan in the event that they were ever without their blasters, and Wrecker of course just wants to see it happen. Echo, however, remains adamant that no, he would prefer not to sleep with a functioning rocket launcher in his scomp arm, thank you very much.

Tech cannot tell directions. He constantly has maps pulled up on his HUD, so he never gets lost, and no one ever questions it. But if he’s ever without his helmet or something? Oh. Oh buddy, he is lost in two seconds. You spin him around once and he has no idea what direction he just came from. Crosshair is more than happy to tease him about it.

Tech cannot dance. While he knows how to dance in that he’s seen tutorials and memorized the motions, he’s just so incredibly stiff that it’s actually abysmal. (It takes Phee a long, long time before she manages to get him to loosen up lol)

ok, so, the first 3 books on your top5 hatelist i totally agree with. although the only one i've actually read front to back was 13 Reasons Why, it's understandable to feel nothing but contempt for that book, especially in the wake of that godawful show that never should've been given 4 seasons, much less greenlit in the first place!

im sorry to be the one to tell you this, but Netflix's Hemlock Grove live action series was worlds better than Brian McGreevy's books. Did the show follow the books? yeah! almost exactly! until the dinosaur baby, HOWEVER. THE BOOKS. God. okay the line that really stuck with me was "go suck an egg" and "go eat a tampon" what the fuck lol also i forget all their names but skarsgards sister? in the books? she gets out of the abusive family (YAY) by *checks notes* running away and marrying a 30 year old man. she is 16 years old. this is seen as a happy ending.

like the show was awful it sucked (mire than eggs) but it was awful in an entertaining way! you could laugh at how awful it was! if netflix hadnt removed it i probably wouldve rewatched the last season because the dino baby is HILARIOUS. The book was disgusting. Skarsgards character was a rapist but we loved him for it. Why, after nearly 10 years was this the book that stuck in my head.

I feel like a ghost. I’m a 35-year-old woman, and I have nothing to show for it. My 20s and early 30s have been a twisting crisscross of moves all over the West Coast, a couple of brief stints abroad, multiple jobs in a mediocre role with no real upward track. I was also the poster child for serial monogamy. My most hopeful and longest lasting relationship (three and a half years, whoopee) ended two years ago. We moved to a new town (my fourth new city), created a home together, and then nose-dived into a traumatic breakup that launched me to my fifth and current city and who-knows-what-number job.

For all these years of quick changes and rash decisions, which I once rationalized as adventurous, exploratory, and living an “original life,” I have nothing to show for it. I have no wealth, and I’m now saddled with enough debt from all of my moves, poor decisions, and lack of career drive that I may never be able to retire. I have no career milestones and don’t care for my line of work all that much anyway, but now it’s my lifeline, as I only have enough savings to buy a hotel room for two nights. I have no family nearby, no long-term relationship built on years of mutual growth and shared experiences, no children. While I make friends easily, I’ve left most of my friends behind in each city I’ve moved from while they’ve continued to grow deep roots: marriages, homeownership, career growth, community, families, children. I have a few close girlfriends, for which I am grateful, but life keeps getting busier and our conversations are now months apart. Most of my nights are spent alone with my cat (cue the cliché).

Also, within the past year I’ve had a breast-cancer scare and required surgery on my uterus due to a fertility issue. On top of that, I’m 35 and every gyno and women’s-health website this side of the Mississippi is telling me my fertility is dropping faster than a piano falling out of the sky. Now I’m looking into freezing my eggs, adding to my never-ending financial burden, in hopes of possibly making something of this haunted house and having a family someday with a no-named man.

i don’t love polly’s advice, but the comments are incredibly interesting.  some of them are “i told you so”, others seek to provide optimism.  there’s a lot of pretty antifeminist stuff.   see a psychiatrist!  get a dog!  do shrooms! go to church! volunteer!  date yourself/love yourself!  make an action plan and be strategic!  i was in the same place but everything got better!  i was in the same place and life sucks!  

aren’t women stuck between a rock and a hard place if people reach professional/emotional maturity at a later and later age (let’s say 30) but women’s biological clock deadlines still stay the same (let’s say at 35)?  what happens if they don’t want to date un-successful/matured men in their 20s, but then by their 30s, the successful/matured men want to date younger?  

more generally, the comments made me feel like the self-actualization self-fulfillment everyone-is-awesome movement has someone done us a disservice?  like if we are so focused on the no-wrong-choice rhetoric and we-are-all-beautiful and seek to squash people who are negative, isn’t that potentially giving people blind spots when they make decisions because they aren’t adequately aware of the drawbacks?

but like... that’s sort of the moral of the advice, also, right?  is that everyone IS awesome, just given the right framing and approach.

Okay, I'm looking to get a cockatiel. I've been looking into them for WEEKS now, but I still feel unprepared, and I really want to get some actual first-hand knowledge from a person. I'm really not sure what to ask specifically! ^^; Any tips you'd give me, this being my second bird--after a budgie--and my first cockatiel? (Any knowledge at all would be helpful! from recommended cage size to what might be a good healthy diet!~) Please and thank you~~

THIS IS GONNA BE LONG

OKAY, HERE IS THE INFO I CAN GIVE YA FOR A COCKATIEL:

1) ALWAYS ADOPT. i know you see that cute birbo in the pet store window, but please, PLEASE, refrain from purchasing him.  there are currently THOUSANDS of homeless birds in north america alone that need you to be their guardian. i know you want to save that baby from the pet store, but doing so continues the cycle.  they’ll just replace him and the horror continues.

2) GET THE BIGGEST CAGE YOU CAN AFFORD! do not listen to what the pet store clerk says (lol i worked in a pet store and straight up i would discourage people from birds EVERYDAY and tell them to rescue and that none of our cages are big enough, and they listened and adopted and im surprised the boss didn’t find out and fire me HAHAHHA) i would go to a bird specialty store to find your cage - you want to make sure it is durable enough, the bar spacing is correct (for a cockatiel you want them no more than half an inch space, theyre little and you dont want them to get stuck!!) i suggest powder coated cages, they’re easiest to clean the poop out of!!!!

3) GOOD DIET IS SO IMPORTANT. STAY AWAY FROM SEED!!!! seed despite popular belief is not very good for them.  it causes fatty liver disease and can make them ill and shorten their lifespan. (rose is now put on milk thistle-it buffersthe liver, as from the shit sanctuary she was from… god knows what she ate so now im in the process of getting her liver spiffy clean!) a good PELLET DIET is SO, SO SO SO IMPORTANT. and dont be discouraged, it is very hard to change a birb from seed diet to pellet.  so you have to change it over gradually and honestly, it can take a year to get that done.  rose is picky as hell, but i found a pellet she likes which are the Zupreem fruit pellets.  they’re not the healthiest, but they’ll do as now she is eating by herself.  i used to have to hand feed her ALL THE TIME like the diva she is.

 Here is a list of good pellets!! (from best to ok)

- Goldenfeast Goldenobles (quinoa based instead of corn, i wanna change rose to this when she’s ready!!)

- Harrisons Fine High Potency (start with high potency and then go to adult formula - gives em the nutrients they need for switching. corn based, and not my fav but it is vet reccommended but id say goldenfeast is better as corn aint that great)

- Pretty Bird (fruity and like, kinda okay? its better than zupreem lmfao but its very sweet, and makes their poo colourful)

- Zupreem (available at most pet stores, comes in fruit, veggie, nut, and natural flavours. what Rose eats and its a pretty good food. i believe its corn and soy based, not the best, and there is sugar in it, but its a good starter for your bird as they will most likely eat it because its colourful and sweet!!! from having Rose on a pellet diet - her plumage looks AMAZING)

all those brands come in different size pellets, i would go with the SMALLEST as it is easier for them to eat, and if you mix it with seed it kinda blends in hehe

4) DON’T JUST FEED PELLETS. A birbos diet should be 80% pellets (give or take) and 20% fruits, veggies, grains, and good stuff!!!! making a chop is a good idea, and you can freeze it and take out some everyday for their breakfast/dinner!!! Rose is very picky, and a rescue may be too, but do some research on what good fresh foods are good for birds!!! rose’s fav are zuchinni, peppers, pasta, scrambled egg (shes obsessed with egg) and chinese snow pear!!!

5) LOTS OF TOYS, AND THINGS TO DO!!! PIMP out their cage with dope toys, various perches and material (AVOID SAND ONES, HURTS THEIR TOES. get natural wood, rope (if u know they wont shred and accidentally eat it) and various thicknesses!!!) and im not saying spend a fortune (whcih i have with rose omfg) undyed popsicle sticks are amazing, paper, toilet paper rolls, cardboard etc they LOVE. but also, a good store bought toy is nice too!!! but most you can make from home!! plus i have a store where i have handmade toys, ill be posting more selection too!!

6) BE PATIENT WITH THE BABY! they most likely won’t warm up to you RIGHT AWAY (i mean they might, depends on their personality!) so do not feel discouraged if they dont want to play or cuddle right away. and heck, they may not even like cuddles. they’re as much as individuals as we are as humans. rose is usually attached to my shoulder all day, but some days honestly she just plays by herself and doesn’t want me to play with her HAHAHA. when you bring them home, introduce them to their cage and let them hang inside and get used to it.  sit near them and chat and offer some millet and let them come to you.  its a whole new world for them, so allow them some time!!!

7) and the most controversial topic… TO CLIP OR NOT TO CLIP? okay, my two cents on clipping goes as written.  if it is safer for them in your house, please get their wings properly by an avian vet or an experienced staff memeber at a bird specialty store. clipping them incorrectly can cause balance issues and confidence issues and trust issues. NEVER CLIP THEM YOURSELF AS THEIR OWNER. THEYLL BE PISSED AF. and most likely scared of you. if your house is unsafe -ie people coming in and out, small space, lots of windows, forgetful people that leave windows open, PLEASE CLIP THEM. it will save their life and prevent any deadly accidents.

if you HAVE THE SPACE. and know that they will be safe, and you believe they will be okay, leave them flighted!! it is much easier i must say having smaller birds flighted as they won’t be as cramped in a house as a big bird would be.  Rose is flightless as she chews her flight feathers, but they are growing back.  and even if they all did, my place is way to small to allow her to fly properly so i would keep her clipped for her safety.  also, if there was an emergency - such as a fire - it is much easier to evacuate a flightless bird than a flighted one.  i have really bad ocd when it comes to impulsive thinking and i obsess over how i would get rose out in a fire all the time… so keep a pillow case by the cage, and if god forbid that happened, grab your baby, toss em in the pillow case (protects them from smoke inhalation) AND HIGH TALE THEE FUCK OUT OF THERE. and that would be easier if they are clipped… just food for thought.  

anyway i hope this helped you and others maybe too!! im sorry this took forever to get to, my lifes been insane.  please do TONS OF RESEARCH TOO and look into rescues. if you need any more help let me know my love

It’s like every typical 18-year-old Friday night, going down to the bar to grab a drink to relief stress. You usually don’t like staying home at night because your mom and dad would always be fucking while you’re trying to have a quiet time with yourself and drink.

Your life has been upside down ever since you started high school and you just want it to end. Yes, some people have told you that high school is one of their greatest experiences and that you should have fun while it lasts but you didn’t believe that. You have been failing high school and your grades have turned into E’s and D’s. You’re hopeless believing you’re not going to get a job other than wiping the bathroom floors and cleaning the toilets at restaurants and you’re going to end up being homeless.

“Damn Y/N you don’t seem like you’re having much of a good week huh?    “Oh, I’m sick I felt like having a drink so yeah” and by sick, you meant tired and not in a good mood, you feel sloppy and sleepy but you cannot sleep in the bar because you have assignments due but you never did them while you had time. “C’mon on Y/N he’s just a fucking jerk he doesn’t deserve you, you deserve better!!” he said furiously. “What? Who? Oh, well I loved him and he betrayed me for another slut but I wonder why. I mean he must’ve cheated on me for a reason right Yoongi?           "Just don’t think about him anymore. He’s a stupid dumbass who couldn’t realize what he had until he lost it. C'mon cheer up, forget about him he’s not worth the time just have a drink and forget.”

As you drink you think about Yoongi’s words and try to understand them. Is he telling you to forget about Jimin because he wants you? Does he love you? As you keep trying to understand while taking another cup of vodka you find out he might actually love you! You’re internally excited and you keep thinking about it.        “Earth to Y/N are you day dreaming?” As Yoongi keeps waving and clicking his hands to your face you finally stop thinking. “Y-yes I’m here sorry.” Yoongi laughs it off and asks if you want to come over to his place and you agree. “Is he trying to go through my pants? Omg yes it’s finally the time were going to fuck.” you keep thinking to yourself while you and he walk to his place, you know he was fully aware that he was going to get drunk so he didn’t bring his car. You and he are walking, it’s awkward and quiet and you don’t know what to say.

“So, how have you been going Yoongi?”                                                                            

     “Not very good lately, my grades have been dropping a ton and I’ve been studying my hardest but my father won’t help with the school supplies and I bas-” before he finishes the sentence you put your hand on his shoulder and say “I can help you with that Yoongi, we’ve been friends since elementary school and I don’t like seeing you hurt. I’ll pay for your school essentials”.

     He goes speechless for 10 seconds and thanks you.

By the time you and Yoongi reached his place you get inside to get warm because the winter is very harsh in Seoul. As you take a step inside you start to scan his place slowly “Damn he’s got a really nice house… Unlike mine” you think to yourself and imagine you and him fucking against the wall. “Yo, by the way, my parents Namjoon and Jin aren’t home they’re on a world tour at the moment and they’re in Japan so we can do whatever we want!” As he says that your heart pounds to how close both of you will end up sleeping in bed.

               “Can I see your room!” you smile and jump. “SURE! WHY NOT!!” right after he finishes his sentence he runs upstairs to his room and you run after him as well.

    As you enter his room you look around and think “His room is amazing, how can one have such a big and nice room” and you look around he closes the door and locks it then holds your ass from behind.

im finally in our new apartment and i’m so fucking psyched. we dont even have all our things in here yet but im so ready to just live by ourselves again. my family has an inside joke that came out of living with lots of different people and moving arounds lot of different times. we ask each other, do you hear that? and after a moment of silence, we say, thats the sound of nobody else living with us. it’s an amazing inside joke and a total jab at how much it fucking sucks to live with other people. i cant imagine a single human on this earth i would ever want to share a home with besides tanner. i would share my home with anyone, because my family all throughout my childhood depended on people opening up their homes to us, and there have been many times people depended on us for a house to live in. but it always sucks every time no matter what. the worst in people come out when youre in each other’s space. i knwo there are a lot of things online about how wonderful it is for adults to permanently roomie with each other for life and raise kids in multi-family homes but im just too particular about my space any more. my mom always calls that feeling walking on egg shells around the house. where youre always worried about taking one wrong step and making someone mad. blah anyways were finally in our new apartment and everything can go back to being right in the world. we’re both closer to where we work, its just so much better for us. i am worried im going to go back to sleeping all day and doing absolutely nothing again tho. i dont know how bad it actually is for me, to just want to sleep instead all the time. there are no urgent day to day matters in my life in the near future. i dont have an infant to wake up and feed every three hours, i don’t drive, i don’t have people im living with to please any more, i dont have to worry about brynn waking up and fucking shit up or annoying people or people annoying her. brynn and i sleep in and wake up at the same time any more. shes not in school this year. i want to eventually go back to my hobbies if im able, but i was able before, and didnt pick them up. i was expecting exterminators to my apartment yesterday and was literally napping when they knocked. most of my stuff is in storage right now and im dying to have my things back because they will give me something to do. ill have my colored pencils and paper and journal and books and the rest of my makeup. im more worried about my things at the moment than i am furniture, which we needs lots of. we got rid of our couches when we moved, and we never had dressers or bed side tables. i also got rid of my desk. our stuff is just going to be on the floor for a while i guess hahaha. im also worried about eating a lot and gaining weight again. i did that the first time we had our own apartment. i gained ten or fifteen pounds. i stopped drinking pop and eating some junk food and lost twenty over the winter a couple years ago and i never want to be over a particular weight again. and over the past three months, i havent been eating three times a day every day, so i think ive lost a few more but i dont have a scale so i have no actual idea lol. we also got rid of our scale when we moved which is probably a good thing. i dont like to guess tho so im probably going to get another one. im going to let brynn play on my laptop so bye
