We talk a lot about weird shippers behavior and all that fandom etiquette and all that, which is right. But not enough about the people that get borderline violent towards lestappen. Because why are people on twitter lowkey having a meltdown over that meme video. Saying stuff like "omg he's so done with that already 😭" like yeah of course, it's an overused meme. But like it's not that deep, I'm sure he just, sighs and moves on?? And people get lowkey weird about it like "He's tired, he's angry 😡". Idk. Or the typical "lestappies are so delusional, they don't even talk to each other" like okay?? what's the problem then? If it's SO delusional, why don't you just, ignore it? But anyways, some people that are so fervently against it are kinda weird too. Because, me for example don't see why people would like Landoscar so much, it's one of the most rancid ships for me, yet I would never be so loud about it because what do I care??. Idk. Also you should see the quotes in some post that could be just a picture of them two, is like people get triggered or something (???

Twitter for me generally is something to avoid because it’s so ill-suited to fandom. Stuff that’s considered more controversial is always going to get more interactions because of the algorithm so people tend to cry about RPF being “morally wrong” and then use ships to interaction bait anyway. Don’t get me wrong RPF is definitely a grey area but tumblr in general has always been slightly more adult about it because it’s its own self-contained ecosystem. None of you know my real name or my face and we’re going to keep it that way. None of you know my follower count and we’re going to keep it that way. None of this is done for interactions it’s all done because we LIKE being here and know this is a safe space for something that yeah, is a little weird, but the self-containment means that the chance of us doing any sort of harm is practically zero.

I saw a tweet the other day being like “omg im so scared to have 16 and 33 in my bio because I just like them I don’t want people thinking I want them to fuck nasty because that’s gross” and I’m just—I would be willing to bet an extraordinary amount of money that person reads RPF. I would be willing to bet similar for a huge amount of people leaving lestappen “hate”. It comes from some misplaced sense of justice to “police” RPF and it being more important for an individual to be seen to be “morally correct” than protecting a community who really, isn’t harming anyone and just trying to keep to ourselves. I’m definitely not walking around in my everyday life telling everybody about how I think Max and Charles are #truesoulmates, in fact I have friends who are very chronically offline who I often chat about F1 with and I would never DREAM of telling them about this blog or expressing anything I say here because I know the only time and place for that remains either with my friends I’ve met through here or on here.

TLDR: Twitter is filled with people who need to be seen as morally right and for some reason have decided that Lestappen is their current crusade of choice, despite the fact all that really does is increase visibility of the ship to people who may be involved. I would just try your best to ignore it.

i totally agree with the vast majority of what you posted about shayne and courtney and fans entitlement to their private lives. i dislike that the fandom so heavily sees things through a 'shipping' lens - angela and damien look at each other for more than three seconds, so here's fourteen fics about them fucking. like it's so deranged and so so strange and fundamentally unfair for everyone involved.

it is the same when people want them all to be best friends irl so bad it causes them genuine distress when they say 'we're just co-workers who have a good time'. i understand parasocial relationships and am aware that some are closer than others (some are married i've heard lol) but if it makes you want to keel over and die to hear arasha call courtney her co-worker...genuinely seek help, that's not good for you.

as someone who came back in the buy-back era and who was a fan at the height of the defy shourtney shipping era, i think it's okay to be like 'aww in videos i always thought they had chemistry!' but the stalking, obsessive stuff is unhealthy at best and wrong at worst.

i worry now about the hyper-focus that will be put on shayne and courtney in videos, both together and apart. i think it's super brave of them to go public (also something they may have felt they had to do, given public records) and i hope that people will be able to dial in to respect them and their relationship!!

Good for them”, but this poor couple had to hide their relationship, hide an engagement! Courtney wasn’t able to wear a goddamn engagement ring, all to protect their privacy.

Im happy for them but again, heartbroken by the fandom once again.

Anyway, all these posts, fights and interactions made me resent the channel I’ve watched for more than a decade so quickly it was actually shocking. Which fucking sucks cause smosh has never been about romantic relationships and this news shouldn’t have affected the fandom for better or for worse.

Im gonna take a step back from the company, at least for now. I’ve unsubscribed to all the channels and unfollowed everyone. I hope I can get back to watching them but for now I legit feel icky, as stupid as it sounds.

i really appreciate yall's nsfw writing capabilities because there's a problem in the creepypasta fandom especially. i feel like every single smut fanfic/oneshot/whatever in this fandom treats squirting as the ultimate form of pleasure for afab readers and characters. its so rAAAAAAH.

obviously im no expert, but i have never been able to do that personally. and i know theres a suspension of disbelief for this sort of thing, but i get kind of insulted when the expectation is that squirting is the best it can get. it makes me so sad sometimes and i feel like when done wrong it feels lazy and juvenile and just turns me off from their writing completely. and it completely shifts the focus away from the orgasm and the connection between the two characters. i think if a writer can tastefully incorporate squirting its fine and obviously no hate to anybody that can do that but man. :(

Squirting is just not possible for most people. Also it's mostly piss. It supposedly can be learned but that involves lots of trial and error and straight up piss without ejaculatory fluids.

I have a lot of problems with erotica writing in fandom. It tends to be an echo chamber of misconstrued kink, the wet cardboard equivalent of dirty talk, only p in v, the same boring d/s dynamic that's genuinely misogynistic. I understand making things more extreme for the sake of kink- see all of ycyd- but it can be badly done very very easily. Like for example the 'you had a hard time walking after' I garentee you unless you literally came 20 times after doing knife play to the legs and/or got fisted you are fine.

It's all very heteronormative, baby's first bdsm fic, and has only had sex like two times and it was very disappointing. Anyway I think if fic blogs wrote more fisting there would be peace on earth.

Sooo...nothing to do with taatfp, BUT someone asked something about LOK and it reminded me of a headcanon that I got as soon as we met Opal and see Lin's reaction to her. (Im not very involved in LOK fandom or anything, so if this isn't a new HC sorry xD)

What if Opal is actually Lin and Tenzin's child? Like, after Tenzin chose Pema, Lin found out she was pregnant. She kept it secret because she didnt want Tenzin to choose her just for the child she was about to have and because she wasn't sure if she wanted to be a mother at all. She decided that if the baby was an airbender (I think baby airbenders are quick to show it? Idk where I got that info from but Im pretty sure that's true?) she would tell Tenzin and then decide how to move forward together. But the baby girl wasn't, so, desperate she reached out to Suyin and asked her to find the baby a loving family among her people and begged Suyin not to ask questions and not give her any details (Lin was completely sure she would be as horrible as mother as her own and didn't want her daughter to grow up to hate her) about the baby or where she ended up, to stop herself from reaching out and messing up.

So, imagine her surprise when she travels with Korra to Zaofu and recognizes the eyes of her niece. Her *airbender* niece.

Omg okay I'm so surprised I've never heard of this theory, anon! It's such an intriguing one! It would definitely provide a good explanation as to why Opal was one of the people who received airbending after Harmonic Convergence, especially when you consider Bumi getting airbending and his heritage. Gahhh this would be such an interesting fic premise.

My running theory as to why certain people got airbending (and I think this is a pretty common theory) is that they were people who had Air Nomad ancestry from refugees who had escaped the genocide and went into hiding in the other nations. Even though two airbenders always give birth to airbenders, we know from the existence of the Kataang kids that if an airbender has a child with a nonbender or a different type of bender, it's not guaranteed that their kid(s) will be airbenders. Again, Bumi having gotten airbending supports this theory as well because of his heritage - all the people who got airbending probably had a latent airbending gene that was "unlocked" after Harmonic Convergence.

In Opal's case (as far as we know in canon at least), I would say that there is likely Air Nomad ancestry on Baatar's side, or possibly on Suyin's dad's side.

When did you start writing?

Pretty much once I figured out how to write sentences. Ever since I was little I loved making stories in my head and I wanted to write them for people. My oldest brother was really into writing scripts, so I actually started script writing before formal writing. But when I was eight I wrote my first "little" story on some papers that were stamped together as my book lol.

Are there different themes or genres you enjoy reading than what you write?

I really don't know. I usually try to write what I enjoy and read what I enjoy so I don't often write what I don't read. I suppose you could say murder mysteries although ITSOM is technically murder mystery, it's not a formal one so who knows LOL. I do plan on writing an actual murder mystery sometime in my life.

Is there a writer you want to emulate or get compared to often?

Agatha Christie, Jane Austen, J. R. R. Tolkein are three authors I love and I would love to try and emulate them. You can kinda see based on those answers what three genres of books I'd prefer to read. 😂

Can you tell me a bit about your writing space?

Oh gosh really anywhere. When I'm on my computer, usually on my beanbag or bed. But if I'm writing my fanfiction down in my journal, which I do more often now, I'm usually at a table, in my bed, or literally in class (I get bored lol).

What's your most effective way to muster up a muse?

Keep getting obsessed with different things. You don't just have to stick with one obsession to inspire whatever you want to write on. Perhaps this is only advice for those who get into things like fandoms, movies, or subjects really easily and obsessively but that's usually how I do it. I feel like when I do that it opens up many more opportunities. Also act out your scenes homies, it helps you picture them.

Are there any recurring themes in your writing? Do they surprise you?

If it involves romance and the main character, healthy romance. Although I'm not that much of a romance writer simply because I don't think I'm the best at it, I like the fluffy cute stuff that's also romantic and respectful. I yearn for a man to respect me like the woman I am. So, my writing often emulates that if it involves romance.

What is your reason for writing?

I love it! I like sharing my stories and I get sooooo many ideas. Honestly too many. I don't mean to pat myself on the back but I'm really good at quickly coming up with ideas for stories. That is one talent that I do know I have. Now whether they are good or not is totally a different story HAHA.

Is there any specific comment or type of comment you find particularly motivating?

FUNNY COMMENTS. Ohhh my gosh Like I appreciate all the sweet ones and I reply to like 90% of my comments but oh my gosh the funny comments are what get me. I LOVE those kinds of unhinged comments. 😂😭

How do you want to be thought about by your readers?

Honestly I don't know, as long as its good I don't really care! I just hope I am an inspiration point for them!

What do you feel is your greatest strength as a writer?

Action scenes are one of those (I used to be a Marvel fanfic writer, let's just say I have practice) but I'm also really partial to writing emotional scenes. I bottle up my emotions quite often so writing scenes like that really helps. And I guess it also helps if you've got inspo straight from yourself loool. 😭

How do you feel about your own writing?

oh gosh. sometimes I'm like "omg this is great" and other times im like "did I grab this from the garbage WHAT IS THIS?!" It's really a hit or miss for me but I'd like to think that I am a good writer. I could definitely use more practice and I know I can definitely get better. But that's what matters is that you put forth the effort for it!

Alfred supports and loves you completely! His country was supposed to be a land of religious freedom, and he will defend that right to his death, goddamnit!

He has some basic knowledge of the Jewish faith, but most of the information he’s been told is horribly Christianized. A lot of is inaccurate, but rarely downright offensive. So when you correct him, he’ll end up asking a million follow-up questions. Maybe just bring him next time along you go to synagogue…

Now, anyone whose friends with him, is gonna know just as much as he does. If any religious thing gets brought up, he’s immediately trying to educate the rest of them on Judaism. It’s cute but… he’s also maybe a bit too enthusiastic. It’s like trivia night but the trivia is just things you’ve told him about your faith.

As happy as he is to spend time relaxing during Shabbat, he may get a little antsy… and a little annoying. It’s probably all that capitalist wiring messing up his brain, he’ll get used to it eventually.

Arthur has never delved deep into any religion since… well… not since the BCs. So your religion plays no part in his feelings towards you, he’d love you the same no matter what.

Even if he develops some affection for your faith, it’s unlikely he’ll be open to converting. Nothing personal, he supports you completely, it’s just… he’s just found that being religious leads to much more conflict than he prefers. 

But… if you want a wedding soon, he’s all in from the start. His country is known for their weddings, remember? And now the two of you will have to somehow throw the biggest Jewish wedding in the whole of Europe. Under your guidance, of course. Really, it’s just that Arthur wants to prove something about the two of you. But at least your family will have fun. Maybe.

Most of the holidays you celebrate, he won’t join in on unless you beg. He tells you it’s because he’s a protestant (he’s not,) but really he just feels like he’s intruding on your culture. But the days spent deliberately relaxing, doing nothing but eating traditional food? He can get behind those pretty easily.

Francis sees your Jewishness as nothing more than another fascinating piece in the painting that you are. If something is important to you, it’ll become important to him too!

Depending on your devotion level, he’ll try to support you as much as possible. But if your life revolves around your faith, he may get a little concerned. I mean,  being devoted is great! But your health and safety should come first as well. At least, that’s what he believes.

He himself, subscribes to no religion. Throughout the centuries, he’s passed from one to another, even being Jewish for a decade or two! But… that was also in the 200s… and he didn’t really commit. But if you want him to commit this time, he is absolutely ready to.

Oh, and the holidays? He would love to join you in observing them. Even the one which involve worship, he’ll happily do it as well, if you would want him to. He’ll even make a bunch of food to bring! Having such a strong community is something that’s really important to him, so he’d love to share that with you.

Whatever you believe in, it makes no difference to Yao. As long as you don’t think he’s going to hell, he’s cool with it… oh, you don’t believe there is a hell? Even better then!

He has seen many different belief systems rise and fall, so he’s never been that religious himself. The only thing he’s ever truly believed in were the things taught to him at birth, and even then he questions. But whatever makes sense to you, he’ll go along with it as well.

If you’re uber-devoted, it’s one of the main things he admires about you. It shows your courage and the strength of your ethics. Both traits he shares with you! Just… about different things. But if you’re not super into your faith, that’s totally fine too. That just means he doesn’t have to do as much.

As much as he loves taking things slow and enjoying the little things in life, he’s  quite the workaholic at heart. After a few Shabbat weekends, he’s itching to just spend time working on his home projects. All of which are…  pretty intense.

He’s still young for a nation and he’s quite the workaholic, so he’s always running from one place to the next. But if you get him to settle down and connect with himself more spiritually, it’d probably do him some good.

Kiku trusts you completely, so whatever religion you believe in, he’ll be right there beside you. Not in converting, per se, but he’ll gladly join you in any open celebrations or gatherings!

He shows his support for your beliefs in a… very Kiku way. He won’t bring it up often, but he’ll do a ton of research on his own time. You never have to remind him when an important holiday is coming up! He knows. And don’t worry, he’s got everything you need already. But will he come to synagogue with you? Well… maybe.

Frankly, I can’t imagine him being a marriage person. If that’s what you want, he’s totally up for it, but don’t expect him to do much planning himself. The one gripe he might have is just that he wants a small wedding… so hopefully, you do too.

Being against shipping doesn't cause people to sound homophobic. It is because they already are homophobic that they are against shipping culture between two people of the same gender. I've been in different movies, dramas and music fandoms for years where two celebrity friends (man and woman) are openly shipped by half of the fandom, and there have never been anti-shippers coming into their spaces to tell them it's disgusting to ship people who are like brother and sister to each other.

Literally nobody cares about who gets shipped, until that ship involves two real life men who are close to each other. There's no reason why the existence of Jikook blogs should enrage people so much that they come here to spend their day insulting everyone and sending repetitive asks to 20 blogs per day. You either have a duo you ship or you dont and you dont care about shipping and what shippers believe, and you mind your own business because it does not affect you in the slightest. There's no in-between.

1. list 3 positive things about your current fandom(s)

Wincest fandom (rather than the entirety of spn) has been the greatest fandom experience for me for tons of reasons but here are few of em:

1) My absolute favorite thing would be how the fandom is still so alive even three years after the ending. New people join everyday, many older veterans are still around, many just deciding to come back. There's always some new take, analysis or just scenario that I haven't seen likes of, but also posts everyone has been rewriting in their own ways AND THAT'S JUST BEAUTIFUL. Everyone at certain point watching spn and losing their mind over one specific thing. It feel makes it so easy to feel connected no matter when you join.

2) The abundance of webweaving here. I know it's in general a popular tumblr format but I don't think I've seen it so rampant in one specific fandom the way it is in Wincest corner. The fandom had such history with webweaving and comparatives that even Siken mentioned it and this has lead me to discover many many amazing poems and literature.

3)This fandom is absolutely UNHINGED. Like I haven't seen a fandom so collectively deranged and the crazy part is that the morbid madness is not just for wincest but also ppl who are more strictly into weirdcest/platonic samdean. Ive seen enough nonshippers also obsessed the madness inducing fucked up thing between sam & dean and i love love that. But srsly Shipping wincest is a slippery slope into necro, gore, dadfucking, carfucking, cannibalism, stuff that in some previous fandoms i had much harder time to find group of people for.

7. your favorite tropes to read/write/draw

When it comes to reading, even begore spn i think my main food has been angst/whump/hurt no (or sometimes and) comfort, noncon and generally dark themes, feeling realization, first times, unrequited becoming requited, angst with happy ending, but also bad ending & character death and the NON-fixits that make things worse<3

But thing with sam & dean is that i become even open about thing i didn't like before??? Like i hated soulmate trope for certain reasons but with sam and dean im just, yep, soulmates. Domestic bliss & established relationships was so so boring to me but with sam & dean it can be sooo comforting (and even angsty in less traumatic way). I also doubled down on character death bc i want my boys suffering <3. God i DID NOT like anything involving parenting and children but i grew sooo fond of samdean parenting jack. and oh gen fics!?? I would read gen fics sooooo rarely before wincest but now i also madly love weirdcest that is genuinely gen with non-shipping goggles that go "fuck im not even making this up". AND omg I'll shut up but this one being sooo new for me but outsider oc or random mentioned character viewpoint. (That blurry wife pov fic and few others like that making me go insane) like i was never into oc fics but with sam & dean defining them through other lenses is addictive!!!

I love your headcanons of Linzumi and the Fire Nation Royal family accepting Lin into the family. I fully believe they would’ve taken her in—marriage or no marriage, she deserves to be looked after.

You give Izumi so many facets it’s interesting to observe. I enjoyed “Keep an Eye on Iroh”. It was a fic that gave emotions and Azula directly telling Izumi to let her pride go if she truly wants Lin back is good advice even if it’s hard to hear. Azula being honest in there was nice.

i try very hard not to reduce Izumi to just Lin's wife/girlfriend, which is something that i've seen happen on more than one occasion (not just in the LOK fandom), and it can easily happen when we know so little about her. i'm actually pretty sure i failed on that when i started writing them three years ago, so that's why im trying to make it better now
