“rafe, it's literally two weeks. ill be fine!” you say, folding his clothes, having dumped out his suitcase onto the bed to reorganize it when you saw how he packed it, just chucking things in.

“two weeks where im a hours away from you by plane.” rafe sighs, watching you carefully repack his suitcase as he pouts on the bed, not wanting to leave you.

“you know, cameron, i lived a whole 20 years before meeting you.” you point out, knowing while rafes concern comes from his love for you, it will completely overwhelm what is supposed to be an enjoyable family vacation and leave him miserable the whole time.

“i don't see why you can't just come with me.” rafe groans, flopping back against the bed. you smile and round the bed to where his head is resting against the pillows. you press a smooch to his forehead, rubbing your hand over his head, petting at his soft hair.

“baby, it's just for your family. you know that.” it's not like you don't want to accompany rafe to a tropical paradise, but you would feel way too awkward intruding.

“what if something happens to you? and im not here to protect you? id be the worst fiancee ever.” rafe grabs your head from rubbing his head, holding up the ring on your finger for him to admire.

“nothing will happen. nothing ever happens here.” you laugh. you're not sure what crime is like on the other side of the island, but your neighborhood is incredibly safe.

“im still worried.” rafe sighs. “you in that big house all alone.”

“im gonna spend 99% of the time wedding planning.” you hum, thinking about the tabs pulled open on your laptop of different venues, dresses, and color palettes.

that finally gets rafe to crack a smile. “can't wait to marry you.” rafe says earnestly. he only proposed a month ago, some people would say that you were too young to get married, but rafe knew when you came into his life and turned everything around for him that he had to put a ring on your finger.

“i can't wait either.” you bend down to press a kiss to rafes lips. “but seriously we need to talk about your packing before we tie the knot, why do you only have one pair of shorts packed for an island?”

-- two years later --

“remember those two weeks you left before we were engaged? it's not really much longer. you should go, baby. it's a good opportunity.” you are sat on rafes lap, back pressed against his chest as he scrolls through his email.

“it's just work, and it's a whole lot longer than two weeks. i don't want to leave you here alone for over a month.” rafe closes out of the email, making you sigh.

“i was fine for those two weeks, ill be fine now. promise. i think you should go! it's a big conference.” you turn sideways on his lap so you can look rafe in the eye. “besides, it's still six months away. plenty of time to prepare.”

“prepare?” rafe raises his eyebrows. “so you'd be good with security cams around the whole house and personal security?”

“cameras on the outside and hell no. you don't want some random guys watching after me do you?”

you can see the gears turning in rafes head as he frowns. “yeah, you're right. no men.”

“so you'll go?” you smile. rafe closes his eyes for a brief moment before nodding.

“yay!” you squeal. you're not excited to be left alone, and you love being around your husband more than anything, but the work trip is a big deal, and you know he'll be kicking himself if he misses out on such a good opportunity.

“rafey?” you call, eyes sweeping across the living room as you enter your shared home, a head full of fresh highlights.

“hubby?” you call out, continuing deeper into the house until you see movement through the glass door leading towards the backyard, but it's not the typical roll of the ocean against the shore.

“rafe?” you question as you open the door. you expected to find him in his office, where he was before you left for the beauty salon.

rafe smiles, waiting for your eyes to look down, and when you finally see what is sitting at rafes feet, you let out a gasp.

“oh my gosh!” you squeal. 

“wifey, meet max. our new australian shepherd.” rafe gives a command with his hand, that has max running towards you.

you sink to your knees as the young dog excitedly greets you, licking at your hands as you pet him.

“hi maxey.” you coo at the dog, you're guessing around two years old, with max being full size but still having some young features.

“rafe, you didn't tell me you were getting us a dog!” you stand up, max following close behind as you rush to give your husband a hug.

“i have a confession.” rafe says, his hands looped around your waist. you frown, worried that max was just a foster and you'd have to give him back, or that something went wrong with the adoption. you often talked about getting pets before getting married, but wanted to wait a little bit, and then time just slipped away and before you knew it, you were over a year into your marriage. 

“what?” you whine out.

“ive been working with a trainer behind your back. i wanted to make sure max was ready before we chose him for sure. he knows commands, me, your scent, our house. everything. he knows his primary responsibility is to protect you and our property.”

“oh my gosh!” you slap rafe in the chest, surprised that he was able to keep such a secret from you. “how could you do all that without telling me?” you laugh, not angry, but surprised that he was able to orchestrate everything.

you don't wait for rafe to explain how he was able to find so much time, stepping out of his hold to kneel down and continue petting max.

“we have some more training sessions so he can learn with you as well.” rafe further explains, also leaning down to pet max behind the ears as he pants excitedly at his new owners.

“what is it maxy?” you ask as he lifts his head up, looking around the living room. “you miss your daddy?”

you sigh as max lets out a sad sounding huff, petting your hand over his head, scratching at his neck which you know is his favorite. rafe has been gone on his business trip for a month now, with only a week and a half left until he returns home.

max suddenly jumps off the couch, eyes on the backyard. he lets out a bark, claws clicking on the hardwood floor as he moves to the glass door. he lets out another bark, making you stand.

“what is it boy?” you ask, looking out the window.

max lets out another bark, this one the familiar territorial bark that he’s practiced in his training with you and rafe. you know the only reason that rafe feels safe enough leaving you home is that max is a great guard dog.

you get closer to the window, squinting your eyes to try and see in the darkness when you sudden jump back with a scream as a squirrel runs across your patio, causing max to bark and run along the glass door until it scatters into the yard.

“holy shit, maxy, you scared the shit out of me.” you press your hand to your chest before kneeling down, scratching behind his ears. “it was just a squirrel.” you reassure him with a pat.

your heart rate is just starting to calm down from the fright when you hear the front door open. max instantly takes off with you following after him, letting out a sigh of relief when you see rafe standing in the foyer.

“baby.” he sighs happily, setting his suitcase down as you run into his arms, pressing your lips together. “i missed you so much.”

“i missed you too, what are you doing home though?” you ask, giving him another kiss before he can answer.

“they didn’t need me for the rest of the week, decided to get home to my lady.” max barks, making rafe lean down to pet him, still holding you up. “and my good boy too, of course.”

“so happy to have you home.” you nuzzle your nose into rafes neck, inhaling the familiar scent that you missed so much. 

“happy to be back with you, wifey.” rafe says, carrying you further into the house.

“oh, and you will be very happy to know maxy did a great job protecting me while you were gone.” you tell rafe. it mostly involved max barking in warning at any delivery guy or car turning around in your driveway, but his presence did help making you feel safer and less loney.

“hopefully not too good.” rafe huffs as he looks at your pet. “can’t have him replacing me now.”

you giggle, surprised rafe can manage to be jealous of your dog. “never.” you swear, pressing another kiss to his lips.

Anchor stayed still for a bit, before slowly tilting his head to the side, to properly face the other.

"Just the usual, yeah... 'nd I like sleeping outside more, anyway. It really is nice out here... I like being outside."

Anchor replied, a brief moment of light in his eyes, though his voice remained soft and dull, almost.

"Yeah. Tha's fine. I'll be here all night, so you can stay 's long as you need, its okay."

He reassured, before rolling his head back to where it had been, lying still. Then, he shifted over slightly to the side, in an attempt to create space for Izem if he wanted to sit, or anything.

It went quiet again, but suddenly, silence didn't feel quite right anymore, not with the presence of someone else near, now. With a small breath, he spoke again.

"Can't get back to sleep either, or something..? I know nightmares 'n stuff do that a lot, don't they?"

(✨drabble but ALSO an open thread! Consider it both!!! Cw for mentions of blood, guts, implied manslaughter or homicide depending on how you read it... So um. Yeah?)

Blood. The sound of cracking bones. A spine-tingling scream of horror and agony and the sputtering and choking of someone's final breaths.

Izem looked down at his hands, the blood and guts dripping from them, seeming to flow endlessly like water.

He slowly looked back up at the faceless figures that surrounded him, their non-existent faces contorting in what he'd only assume to be horror.

"Sevens- what the hell is wrong with you?!"

"You murderer!"

"Holy shit... Is that-"

Izem swallowed as he stared down at the corpse of the person he had presumably just killed. The features were familiar, but not precise enough to answer his questions... Not when they were smashed against the pavement like that.

He began to shake uncontrollably. A memory played in his head while he stared down at the remains of someone's skull.

"I... But he- I was- you didn't see him!" Izem began to protest wildly, a vision of the past taking shape before him.

"Get him out of here before he hurts someone else!"

"To think... And a Noble's SON no less!"

Izem felt millions of hands begin to grab at him, pulling him down, down, down. A particularly wet hand wrapped itself around the back of his neck and began to pull hard.

"This is my revenge, pussycat. Ya thought ya could get away with this, didn't ya? But don't worry. The March family always wins in the end."

Izem shot up in a cold sweat, barely able to control his breathing. His pupils were wide as they darted around fearfully, tail lashing behind him.

'It was just a dream...' He thought, as the familiar surroundings of Savanaclaw began to register in his mind.

Despite the comfort of the familiar, though, Izem couldn't help but still feel the choking sensation that was pulling him down. He couldn't go back to sleep like this.

He practically threw himself from his bed and slipped on a pair of sandals. He was going to need to go for a walk.

Oooh man, later on down the line I totally need a moment where buck is loopy on pain meds and keeps asking the nurses, the 118 etc. when his husband is getting to the hospital (Tommy's delayed getting from work but he's on his way).

And I need the firefam to take this and RUN with it for weeks afterwards,as bucktommy are not even engaged yet.

'oh man maybe you should ask your husband, Buck?'

'does the husband know about ....?'

'you should invite your husband too'

Etc etc etc

Bonus points if Tommy finds it funny and already has the ring ready to propose (and Buck knows it).

and while buck whines for them to shut up, internally his heart is fluttering because he actually loves the sound of people calling tommy his husband, and he can't wait until he can (soberly) call tommy his husband.

it's not like tommy doesn't know about the teasing either. everyone was in the room when he arrived, and buck made grabby hands at him and said, "yay, my husband's here!" yeah, maybe he should have corrected him or at least felt a little embarrassed by it, but it really only made him incredibly happy because- even though he already bought the ring- he'd been telling himself it was too early to propose, and now he knows it's not.

Happy 1 year anniversary for the day we finally accepted our systemhood after 2 and a half full years of denial (february 7th) [AEST timezone]

As of now, we’ve gotten 108 headmates (as far as we’re aware…) with valkryie being our latest formed (💐YAY!!!! IM SPECIAL) shut up anyways hell yeah

Special thanks to our dearest partner system @luckyclovercollective for being there for us and being the safe space we needed after all our years being surrounded by extremely gatekeepy systems who made us struggle to accept the idea of being a system in fear of gatekeeping

It’s thanks to our partner system that we were finally given a space with no judgement or concerns, and to be loved both when we initially believed to be a singlet and when we finally figured out the ropes of systemhood. We’ve over like 25 relationships between our systems now, can you believe it? (I didnt actually count i just estimated LOL)

Anyway, shout out to our siblings, sysblings, close friends and moots (plural & singlets) who stuck around with us all the way through our long journey. Weve learnt so much more about ourselves than we thought we ever would, and as insufferable as many situations were, we wouldnt sacrifice a thing in our lives if it meant ending up where we are now

Thank you to our moots, followers and those we follow on this blog whove made posts and helped us with our systemhood even more, whether directly or not. You guys have really helped us learn about ourselves a ton and we’re thankful to get to know many of you

This is a genuine question, what constitutes proshipping?

As far as I know proshipping is just pro ship? Where you believe people can ship what they want even if you don’t enjoy it or don’t want to interact (kind of like an overall non harassment label)

If im wrong about this correct me, im just confused on how it’s a bad thing

Proshipping isnt just "I believe you can ship whatever even if I dont like it" Proshipping as a label is a term used to tell people "I believe you can ship whatever even if its abusive, incestual or pedophilia" i personally dont mind if people ship something I dont like what i DO mind and DONT fuck with is people shipping an abuser with their victim because "if the abuser was literally entirely different then theyd be so cute together"

or shipping a child with an adult because "okay but if they were the same age itd be cute"

or shipping family because "if they werent related it be adorable"

or in worse cases they just straight up romanticize, sexualize or fetishize abuse, pedophilia and/or incest.

The two common excuses/explanations ive seen are 1 some people use it to cope so its good for them 2 I dont condone it irl so its fine To which I say, I actually dont find any fucking comfort in people changing abusive relationships or romanticizing it so that "yay its cute now <3" ive seen artists/people engage in some of these things but its VERY clear that its fucking WRONG. They demonize the hell out of the problematic part making it clear that its not okay Whereas proshippers (especially in this situation) are just going "theyre cute together idc" and romanticizing and NORMALIZING things like incest, abuse and pedophilia WHICH IS NOT OKAY. Which is why even if you dont condone it irl you shouldnt support, promote or engage in that shit where vulnerable people (rather by current mental state or young) could see it and get desensitized to it and either become complacent in their horrible situation or hurt someone later. Also not as strong as the other points but if you tell me "yeah I ship this brother and sister who are also in a somewhat abusive/toxic relationship already" I dont care if you dont support it irl I think youre fucking gross for romanticizing that.

Confidence rolled off you as you posed for the cameras. People commented that the clothes were just made for you, which they would be very right. Levi was the designer and every single thing on your body was made just for you.

You had started off as Levi's assistant, then he asked you to model his clothes because you inspired him and then he realised that you were so inspiring because he was madly in love with you. Levi confessed his love and you became a couple. Most would be shocked at Levi because it took you two about four months to become a couple.

Levi had moved fast, which wasn't like him. However, he knew he wanted you, he knew he loved you, he knew you were his forever and he wasn't just gonna let that slip through his fingers. Now you were a year into your love and he had already picked out a ring for your engagement, he just needed to set up a perfect day.

He made a few notes on your outfit and thought about something else he could dress you up in. He gave you a gentle smile as you posed in such an alluring way, it just drove him crazy with love. He could see you were enjoying yourself as you worked.

The photographer ended the shoot and showered you with praise. As soon as he started talking to you your true adorable nature came out. He shook your hand. "Thank you so much. It's been a joy working for you."

You felt your heart race. "R-Really? You're too kind. Umm. It was an honour to have you as a photographer. You're incredible. You make anything look beautiful." You fidgetted a little. "C-can I get you a drink or something to eat? You must be so tired."

He blushed at your words. "Oh, I'm okay, don't worry."

You hurried over to the small fridge. "I've got an ice cold water here or a diet coke?"

He chuckled. "A coke would do great."

You opened it and handed it over. "You should get some sugar in you too. Have a cookie."

"You are so sweet."

Levi made his way over to you and called your name. "Don't forget about yourself."

You gasped in shock. "Oh! You're right."

He opened a can for you and handed it over. "Drink this. You should also take a seat as well, okay?"

"Ah, but everyone..."

He ushered you to a comfy seat. "Focus on yourself, okay?" He knelt and slipped your heels off. "You're important." He massaged your feet. "It's a good job I'm very focused on you, otherwise you'd be very sick."

You hummed a laugh. "You care so much about me."

He leaned up and kissed you. "Of course. You're my world."

"You're mine. I wouldn't be doing this job if it weren't for you. I count my blessings every day."

He glided his hands up your leg. "Darling, you are more magical than you think." He smiled a little at you. "We're going out for dinner tonight. I'm going to take you to the place we went to on our first date."

You squeaked. "Yay! I love that place."

Levi took your hands and showered them with kisses. "I love it too. We'll make tonight special." Tonight was the night, he was going to ask you to marry him.

I want what 20th century women authors were on

Ok but no literally I was reminded of my favorite (as of right now I am fickle) gothic novel. Which guys let me tell you about Ann Radcliffe's The Mysteries of Udolpho. Have you ever wanted to read Jane Austen but like also the plot is on crack a bit? Yeah, I also didn't know I wanted that until I had it.

So like, maybe spoilers but the novel was also published in 1794 so I feel like its fine. I'm going to break the book's plot down into four, and i want emphasize this, very simplified sections.

Part One: Death. We start with the death of our main gal's (her name is Emily) parents, total bummer they were like a super nice family and now she has to go live in the wack castle with her aunt. Stuff does happen before her parents die but for the sake of not ranting too much the most important pre-parental-death facts to know is that the family's fortune was in decline, Emily accompanied her father travelling the world after her mom dies and while journeying she falls in love with this guy named Valancourt. But then her dad dies and it's aunt time. Oh also she meets a woman called Sister Agnes at the convent where her father gets buried, we will come back to her. Classic set up we love to see it nothing too big happening here. But this leads us to the next plot point the castle. You guessed it! It's Udolpho.

Part Two: Udolpho. Ok to be fair im skipping a bunch of stuff but we have to get through this, so straight up gothic castle on a cliff. I could go on a whole rant about the castle being a classic example of a large scary house in gothic novels and how arguably the main character could really be the castle and Emily is just our tour guide but I digress. Emily's Aunt has married this fuck ass guy named Signor Montoni, and he sucks so much ass. He forces Emily to break off her engagement with Valancourt (yeah that happened in the stuff i skipped) by manipulating her aunt. He also before they make it to Udolpho tries to force Emily to marry his creepy old man friend Count Morano and sign over her property to him (her uncle). But then switches up real fast when his friend turns out to be like loosing his money or smth and Montoni and her Aunt drag her off to Udolpho. Ok great they get there and turns out Montoni is like a bandit king/leader guy???? and the castle is their center of operations??? And then the castle is attacked by other people and Morano shows back up and tries to kidnap Emily but fails. Also castle is allegedly mad haunted. Emily finds a creepy black curtain and has a breakdown about a frightful thing she sees behind it, she thinks it is the body of Signora Laurentini di Udolpho who the Count was rumored to be married to before. Emily thinks he killed her and put her body there. Great. Montoni ends up inadvertently killing Emily's aunt cause she won't sign over her property to him and plans on leaving it to Emily, so he locks her in a tower and she just gets sick and dies there. Skipping some more stuff Emily and a few others run away and escape Udolpho which leads to....

Part Three: Chateau-Blanc. Yay! Second haunted house time! They end up nearby where her father died and was buried. Some supernatural shit is happening here too apparently and a servant shows Emily this room with a painting of the Marchioness de Villeroi and tells her about her. Emily is like aw fuck this lady might be my real mom we look crazy related and double fuck because this room is also seemingly very haunted. So another guy is like hey i'll spend the night in here to prove it isnt haunted! and the next day he is straight up gone so that sucks. Emily then ends up going back to the convent and visiting Sister Agnes who is dying now too. And death is a hell of a drug because she confesses her whole life story to Emily and turns out Agnes is Signora Laurentini di Udolpho and had been the Marquis de Villeroi's lover. And she and him conspired to kill the Marchioness de Villeroi who is Emily's aunt not her mom. And like men do the Marquis regretted what he did and blamed it all on Agnes/Signora Laurentini and told her she had to go repent for the rest of her life. And Oops Emily should have all her aunt's land and stuff actually so she is a wealthy woman now once she recovers it all. Also! that guy (Ludovico) who disappeared earlier in the haunted room shows back up! Turns out he was kidnapped by Pirates who were trying to rob the mansion, not ghosts.

Part Four: Final Weddings and Reveals. So the book ends with Emily and Blanche (another character she is important but... you get it)) getting married. Emily to Valancourt after a series of miscommunications I glossed over. Its like a whole romance subplot of 'is he worthy of her love? is he not?' going on during the last part up until they are like 'ooo we are in love lets marry'. Idk the romance isn't why i am here. I'm here because the very end of the novel reveals to us that this whole time the creepy maybe dead body Emily saw behind that curtain was a wax figure. And it like ribs on her for not taking a second more to look, hold on im pulling out the quote for this one “Had she dared to look again, her delusion and her fears would have vanished together, and she would have perceived, that the figure before her was not human, but formed of wax". Like damn ok yeah...

anyway I just really like this novel. Like! It's mentioned by Austen in Northanger Abbey, which is knowingly a parody or satire of the Gothic genre. And Udolpho is used as like this example of a great gothic story in it. But I feel like you could argue that Udolpho is almost a parody or satire in itself? Like Emily is never actually in any danger from supernatural happenings. The worst is her new uncle and some other creepy men. And while that also can fall into the gothic genre there is also this self awareness the story has of its own elaborate craziness. If that makes any sense? Idk it just throws so many plot twists and points at you in the best way.
