#im an elf grave cleric

magic and monsters... my many hours poring over my 10 dnd 5e sourcebooks are coming for me. gonna just touch on ale for right now i think because otherwise i will yap for. an eternity. (the racial thoughts are supplementary for most bc i'm not fully sure, except in andrew's case where i have reasons for my thoughts.) andrew: dark elves (drow in 5e) are sunlight sensitive and also there's a whole stigma due to the predisposition they have in lore to be evil-aligned (yes i know they're dedicated to lolth and exceptions are rare but. it fits andrew ok. he can't see shit in the light, people see him and think he's a certain way... ough.) as for his class, i could see him as trying to be life domain cleric (life domain is all about healing and caring for those in need), but he instead is given the grave domain (focused on keeping the cycle of life, keeping the dead dead) or light domain (light is focused on rebirth and truth- though a lot of spells involve flashbanging the opposition and andrew could see that as his penance for asking the deity's aid). if he were a paladin, i'd see him as an oath of devotion one, its tenets line up with how he thinks i feel! also when he fails to save someone or when something happens that is out of his control he'd blame himself long before anyone else would, thinking he broke his oath when he never did... and we have bright light emittance as a capstone ability which. not good for him!! he can't see!! he has str/con from his work, and i think he'd be better at wis than cha (points for cleric - paladins cast with charisma and clerics with wisdom), int is around the middle and his dex is not good. luca: get that boy into the artificer class! i feel like he'd absolutely have an engineering focus, as an artillerist perhaps (sometimes he needs to build a cannon, ok? it's enrichment), or maybe battle smith (a sort of defensive class, which could make sense. he doesn't remember what he originally worked on, but he can work with these tools still, he can make sure he doesn't hurt anyone this time. he can protect them. right?) as for race if we go on dnd standards, i'd place him as a... maybe a half elf, elf on herman's side? maybe a gnome too. that impulsive nature is extremely gnome of him, and i believe he had a good amount of that before he uh. yeah. high int and cha, low str and con, dex and wis in the middle. emil: this man can zoom! give him a high dex stat and a scout rogue build (able to nyoom out of the way of opponents and excels at moving fast: knowing his grappling hook, we could apply that logic), with some barbarian or fighter multiclass to represent his fighting he had to do if we want the pain. i think barbarian due to the focus on channeling rage, though the heavy focus on certain spiritualities and the 'primal path' wording is difficult since i don't think he grew up with connections to living in the area the flavor text associates with barbarians, he just had to survive. beast path where he's been treated like a dog so long he becomes one in battle... berserker path where the memory is just as fuzzy as always, but now with a new goal in mind... sorry. im ill. i could see him as like. a dwarf perhaps? maybe whoever he is he's out of place where he lives currently until he meets andrew and luca and finds a family within them... looking alike never meant belonging. and these two really make him feel like he belongs.

nellie is so gorgeous!! but also all your ocs are <3 do you have any nellie facts you’re willing to share ?
HSDKFGH THANK YOUUUU!!!! 💕💕 i put a lot of thought into each my ocs looks and aesthetic so that makes me really happy 🥺💕
and OUGH im so glad you asked because im dying to talk about nellie, lets goooo heres a list of her current iteration!!
her mother was an elf and her father was a half orc so she has lil TUSKS/FANGS
her father was a bard and taught her violin
she lived in a remote little village when she was young, which was attacked by a band of mindless undead (nellie doesnt know where they came from, she theorizes maybe someone summoned them nearby and lost control of them). the villagers tried to protect themselves but failed and perished. nellies parents barricaded her into their home, but died themselves trying to protect her
after the remaining undead moved on from the village, nellie broke out of her home to discover the carnage left behind. she didnt know what to do, where to go, or who could help her, so she meticulously dug graves and buried all of the dead, including her parents, all on her own. people showed up to investigate the village a few days later, and found her alone, playing her violin for the deceased among the graves. they took her to baldurs gate, and she wound up at the temple of kelemvor there, which became her home
shes a bard and cleric of kelemvor multiclass (i have modded items to make the build work better than it should LOL) and spent her adult life hunting undead and performing funeral rites all over the place, returning to the temple in baldurs gate in between her travels
mostly hunted mindless undead, but she once came across an isolated and recently turned vampire spawn that was being forced to hunt for her master. at her request, nellie mercy killed her, because there was no other way to escape her masters commands, but nellie never forgot about that spawn. its part of why nellie chooses to trust astarion and give him so many chances despite her experiences with undead (and advantage on insight checks), because she wants to help where she couldnt before. also she eventually falls for him, so. lol. lmfao
shes like, the least religious cleric youd ever meet. considers her devotion to kelemvor as a business arrangement, pretty much. she 100% would throw down with a god if given the opportunity (mystra and vlaakith shes looking at you)
uses her single charge of divine intervention in the fight with cazador, because shes so afraid of either failing astarion or losing him. besides, who better to call for killing an undead vampire than kelemvor?
her romance with astarion actually progresses differently in my headcanon than it does in game: nellie never sleeps with him. he pursues her to manipulate her, but she dances around his advances while still being nice and understanding to him (its infuriating for astarion LOL). in act 2, nellie almost dies to protect astarion in a battle, and that prompts the act 2 confession scene with astarion instead. im very normal about this (lying)
the streak in her hair is her going gray mainly in that spot
AND THATS ALL I CAN THINK OF RN, thank you for attending nellie posting hours and please know that i adore her

So excited to finally do a dnd campaign again
One of my best friend is doing a rogue assassin who particularly likes to Kill The Rich(tm), he’s a simic hybrid; it’s technically from Ravnica but im putting it in my homebrew world. Basically a Simic is typically a human or elf or other humanoid (he picked human) that is fused with typically aquatic creatures (he picked squid tentacles and fish gills).
My other best friend is a homebrew Dog anthro with a twin brother. Still coming up with names but he jokingly named them Sarah Jessica Barker and Wolfie Goldberg for now 😭😂 Barker is an Eldritch Fighter and Wolfie is a homebrew class i made called a Revenant, subclass Goethe Knight who specialize in enchanting weapons and armors with elemental damage and protection. Revenants are specially chosen corpses possessed by a Saint or Martyr to do the will of the gods. He really wanted to have the horror-tragedy of “it’s my brother but it’s not my brother” which fits so well in my horror campaign I can’t believe he Did That.
Next week I’ll be helping my other two players make their characters. I’ll be playing as Wolfie and I also have a high level “babysitter” character to take care of them and prevent TPK. He’s a grave domain cleric who can resurrect but only under extreme circumstances. In actuality he’s an ancient being some revere as a god but has gone into hiding to escape reverence. He’s also the main villain. Can’t wait for them to get emotionally attached to my NPC just to get betrayed and have hunt him down :)

of your wayhaven ocs, what do you think they would be in a dnd setting?
OKAY SO I HAVE ACTUALLY PUT THOUGHT INTO THIS!!! because d&d is a BIG TIME special interest, so 90% of my characters are either from d&d or have been slotted in somehow (im running a homebrew campaign and a bunch of my npcs are just recycled ocs lmao)
ANYWAY!!!!
Chase - tiefling Warlock, pact of the blade (hexblade patron)
Juni - firbolg druid, circle of dreams
Arlo - half-drow cleric, grave domain
Nell - changeling rogue, arcane trickster
Virgo - high elf sorcerer, wild magic
Vanya - fallen aasimar wizard, school of divination
Caspian - fire genasi monk, way of the sun soul

For D&D character ask, for any and/or all of your characters;
1, 5, 8, 15, 23, 29, 64, 65, 69(Nice)
i’m gonna answer these for whichever characters have the most interesting answers, skipping some for repeats:
1. why did they choose their class(es)? their subclass(es)?
kip (wizard, school of necromancy): crisis of faith midway through grave cleric training, spurred on by him sucking at the whole cleric thing (9 wisdom babyyy) while also being a nerd (18 int babyyyy)
baylock (shadow sorcerer/rogue): the sorcerer part is a side effect from being born dead during a cataclysmic event that tore portions of the material plane asunder. the rogue part is because he got in with a bad crowd as a kid. he’s been gaining levels in sorcerer as he traverses the freaky magic wasteland, utilizes his magic more, and gets a little closer to death each time someone hits his squishy arcane caster frame too hard
izak (gunslinger, graveslinger): sometimes you’re a jaded teen-equivalent runaway bumming around the river kingdoms and some dude comes up to you and is like ‘im a neutral evil mercenary, but if you take this gun and learn to shoot, i can also be your dad’. and then later you’re a 20-something equivalent who just realized that you don’t actually want to be an evil mercenary so you run away again and this time some dude comes up to you and is like ‘i’m a priest of sarenrae and an exorcist, and if you believe you can be redeemed, i can also be your dad.’ and then you learn how to shoot ghosts so you can be useful while this guy teaches you about being a better person.
5. do they follow a higher power? what are their thoughts on divinity?
izak: (deep lore dump) izak’s family was, at one point, pious people, and it was some ancestor’s warped perception of what piousness is and what was worth sacrificing in the name of good that led to the entire mess that is izak’s face. izak’s a devout worshiper of sarenrae now and hopes to maybe be the assistance someone needs to put themselves on a better path the way brak was for him, but there’s still a part of him that believes that, because he’s a tiefling, he’s never going to really be saved, and that his soul will eventually belong to the asura it was promised to.
8. what are three songs that suit them?
sydel: buckets of blood by rufus rex (tw for self harm, link goes to spotify because i can’t find this track on its own on youtube), thank god that i’m not you by himalayas, and bruises by fox stevenson (full playlist here)
15. do they trust their party? why or why not?
kip: he trusts them with his life, he just doesn’t trust them to understand where he’s coming from. he’s hiding some really heretical opinions that he knows at least maya (the celestial warlock) won’t agree with. he doesn’t like to talk about his family trauma, his past, or anything that he thinks the party can use to cleverly deduce that the notes he’s been scribbling are about raising the dead and theoretical conduits, prices, and replacements for the soul (he’s a little paranoid and might be giving them more credit than they deserve)
baylock: baylock might trust morgran, but he doesn’t trust surina at all, not since she and the (presumed deceased) swashbuckler tried to use him as a scapegoat when they were being interrogated by evil government warlocks. and even then, he only trusts morgran to not leave him for dead. baylock’s a fiercely loyal person by nature, so he’s been trying to keep his party at arms length so he won’t be betrayed again. the closest he came to starting to trust them was right before he found out that they told the evil government warlock that they’d turn him in in exchange for their freedom when they were captured a while back (whether or not they actually intended to do so is irrelevant for baylock - he spent 5 years in prison after being his old thieve’s guild’s fall guy, he’s not about to let it happen again)
23. how do they feel about nicknames, titles, or labels that have been given to them? how do they feel about their name?
kip: kip’s given name is joffric ravenhall. he’s been going by the alias of ‘greenbough’ on the offchance that people have heard of his family or knew his father at some point, since he really doesn’t want to explain why he’s not a priest of the raven queen by now. ‘kip’, however, is what his family and friends call him, so it was a bit of a big deal to him when he told the party to call him kip, since he hadn’t been around anyone he considered family or friend in a few years. kip’s reeling a little bit over suddenly being called an ‘adverturer type’ - to him, he’s still just a transient weirdo who picks up odd jobs.
baylock: baylock craft’s name isn’t actually baylock craft (not yet anyway lol), he stole his late cellmate’s identity to take advantage of the jailbreak that came a few days too late. his name, ekleipsis caldor, isn’t exactly something he identifies with so much as what he was once called. his father never wanted him but got stuck with him when his mother bounced, so ‘caldor’ is more a formality than anything. ‘ekleipsis’ is the greek root of ‘eclipse’, for the eclipse he was born during - but moreso, ‘ekleipsis’ doesn’t mean ‘to be covered’ - it means ‘a disappearance or abandonment’. an event where the sun abandons the sky. baylock is a walking abandonment issue. he hasn’t taken a virtue name because he thinks it’s performative (which is where him officially taking the name ‘baylock craft’ as his name and not the identity of someone he’s pretending to be comes in - it’s the equivalent of naming himself for the virtue of rebellion without naming himself something stupid and embarrassing like ‘rebel’.)
izak: izak just got done being haunted by a ghost wizard who’s obsessed with names, probably because he’s had 4. izak was born dalethiel oakleaf back when he was an elf, but when he ran away after waking up as a tiefling he went by dally. then he was a mercenary for a while and his edgy mercenary name was viper. and then, when asked for his name by the cleric of sarenrae who rescued him in the wilderness, he said he didn’t have one worth giving, so the cleric told him he’d just call him izak then. that’s who izak is now, as far as he’s concerned, or at least who he wants to be. as he told the ghost wizard who tried to torment him with his birth name, that’s not his name anymore. dalethiel oakleaf was a young elf who died on his 50th birthday. izak’s got a perfectly good name, given to him by a kind man, and he doesn’t want to think about the time in his life he went by dally or viper.
karif: karif always introduces himself formally with his full name, in the family-given-familiar name pattern - ‘ixenvari karifgethisk fraurirthos, er, but you can just call me karif.’ this is because karif’s nickname, fraurirthos, the one his childhood friends and family call him, translates from draconic literally to ‘breathes secrets’. his nickname is snitch. he’s a little embarrassed about it. but ‘karifgethisk’ is a bit of a mouthful for those who don’t speak draconic, so shortening it to ‘karif’ suits fine.
29. who would they save? who would they be saved by?
this has been a tough one, i’m not sure how to answer it for anyone.
64. do they value mercy or justice more?
kip: this honestly depends on his mood and your definitions of both ‘mercy’ and ‘justice’. he’s very easily led away by his emotions - both pity and compassion that could sway him to lean more towards mercy, and rage that tends to harden his heart and clear his head. he’s more than down to torture someone if he deems them evil, and he’ll destroy creatures like aberrations, fiends, and undead without a second thought, but he views life as a very precious thing - even when torturing an evil demon-summoning spellcaster, he still was trying to find ways out that resulted in that spellcaster getting out alive. this has come back to bite the party in the ass, since it was kip’s insistance that the party not kill all the guards on their little anarchy stunt that got them blackmailed to infiltrate the evil army of darkness, which is something he most certainly DOES NOT want to do.
65. what is holding them back?
kip: kip’s hang-ups about the soul and how he was raised are holding him back from becoming a stronger necromancer, while his grief and refusal to accept mortality hold him back from possibly still being some flavor of raven queen follower.
baylock: baylock’s hesitance and confusion over what he wants are holding him back from either fully embracing the rebellion or ditching it to get vengence
izak: izak’s self-loathing and fear of himself hold him back from interacting with people and forming meaningful relationships outside of the handful of people who’ve found out he’s a tiefling.
69 (nice): how would they describe their party members?
kip:
maya is... complicated. kip admires her pragmatism and her faith - it reminds him of his older sister, and he’s been missing that rock in his life. however, he butts heads with her a lot, because he finds her cold duty-bound outlook to be pointlessly cruel.
meera is wicked smart and talented, if a little misguided at times. he’s very big brother protective of her, always trying to offer her his dagger because ‘it’s a nice dagger’ (it’s +1)
amity is a good kid, and smarter than some may give him credit for. he’s fun to be around, and usually a level-headed presence, which makes it even more surprising just how ok he is with killing.
baylock:
morgran is an asshole, but is also probably the only person in the group who believes in this whole rebellion thing, so that counts for something. he’s decent people, can probably be trusted to see a mission through and not do anything completely stupid, but since he’s decent people he’s probably going to insist on staying on this path of lunacy with delusions of ‘taking down the Summit’. also, morgran shouldn’t be allowed to talk to anyone they meet, because he’s an asshole, and doesn’t bother pretending to be personable like baylock does.
surina is insane. she’s deranged, like everyone who tries to live outside the sanctums is. also just racist at times. when their cover gets blown or when they get mixed up with people they should be talking down, she’s gonna be the reason they all get killed.
porthos is was an idiot and a liability and just proved him right by running off and doing something rash and probably getting himself killed and also maybe compromising the whole rebellion which baylock doesn’t care about, so why does he feel like he should have done more to stop Porthos’ demise?

hi, im asking about your dnd characters? 🌿
HI LEAFY!!! thank u so muc i apologize for only answering now, it took me some time to collect my thots
i'll update this later with songs that feel like their vibes later! anyways most of their names are puns, usually in hungarian so yeah
Vilaaghito Toroñ - firbolg gloom stalker ranger
dude was a lighthouse guard (alone for Years) and kept the weird shit coming out of the ocean in check but something happened to the lighthouse and now he's running around trying to solve the situation. also he's a himbo with two swords.
Ross Dontaesh - half elf warlock of the archfey/celestial (pact of the chain)
so this dude is blind. there are two main ideas:
he gets a tattoo of some god to maybe get his sight back but it's fucked up and it might be a different diety idk exactly or
he stumbles into the feywild and makes a deal with the fae somehow idk
but anyways he gets a familiar from the pact and he can see through it. but get this. neither of them know how this is supposed to work. they keep amending the pact. it's just them constantly bullshitting each other and it's a headache for both of them.
i would love the archfey patron bc of the whole fae tricks thing but imagine a healing as a warlock of a celestial patron. like yes i cast eldritch blast. yes i heal. no bc i dont. yes i just did. we exist♥
Seraphino Withaneff - blue dragonborn tempest cleric/storm herald barbarian
idk storms are neat that's it. lighting and thunder. i dont really have anything specific in mind, just the vibe. but this is my second himbo character
Kophy - halfling divination wizard with the lucky feat
originally i just wanted to mess with the dm but the character grew on me. when she was young, she saw a vision of herself in the future, all powerful and shit but she also felt all the struggles she was gonna go through. so she decided to not pursue that, instead went for a major that is sought after and pays well (divination) and decided that she was gonna live a chill life instead. that is, until one day she somehow ended up in the party, accidentally causing the vision she was trying to avoid to be set into motion.
yes i poured all my gifted kid burnout feelings into her shut up
Feng??? - air genasi way of shadow monk
okay so i dont have a lot of ideas about them, just two facts:
they are missing one arm so all the unarmed attacks are just kicks bc i think that would be badass + backstory options
they get the levitate spell as an air genasi so they can sneakily just. walk on the ceiling. they can also teleport around bc shadow monk stuff. badass!!!
Rose Petals - wood elf arcane archer (i know i know, a fighter???)
new money going to fancy university where he's learning some magic but also diplomacy, anyways he gets expelled so he works for his moms' delivery service and he picks up a bow for self defense and wow he exists
Honorable Mentions!
creepy-wise grave cleric who keeps talking about creatures having been marked for death after the party kills them, bc if they weren't marked for death, then they wouldn't have been in the party's way
a gay sailor/pirate. that's it. probably a bard or a rogue. probaly a himbo

Are you gonna use the tag "#coronaquest" for DnD updates?
no its for coronavirus eek 😳😳 i lump all the dnd stuff i reblog under #dnd
but if you’re interested! here’s info on my campaign and the characters bc i will take Any Excuse to ramble
Dunmar’s Drop is a campaign im doing with some of my best irl buddies, named after the town it takes place in! tagged as #dunmars drop or #dunmar’s drop
✨Player Characters✨
Nick: our favorite tiefling bard prince, played by my dear friend Lily! (tagged as #nick but i don’t think he has any posts yet oops)
Joe: half-elf grave cleric, and Nick’s best friend! played by my best bud Reeve. she has a suspicious allergy to metal and graveyard dirt, which is uhh... really weird for a grave cleric... hmmm....... (tagged as #joe)
Elyn: firbolg druid that might maybe be in our campaign but she’s played by my friend Eva who’s really busy so we’re not sure! she’s rly cute tho i love her!!
✨NPCs✨
Vir: hey, this dude sucks! he’s a stinky warlock. well, at least for the sake of game mechanics, that’s his class. but he runs an alchemist’s shop in town! or he used to, anyways. long story short he tried to kill Jake and he is now living in a cell in the cellar (ha!) of the local tavern. (tagged as #vir)
Keldron: real old pyromancer wizard! love that guy! he’s sort of taken over vir’s shop, as he feels in part responsible for his old pupil’s actions. (tagged as #keldron)
Jake: he’s babey! as in, he’s really young. why is this child in our party? jake is an artificer... sort of... he used to be Vir’s apprentice, in training to become an alchemist. since that didn’t work out after the whole almost-getting-murdered thing, he’s now combining his somewhat limited alchemical knowledge with some new info on magic (courtesy of Keldron) and his own hobbies. this combination of science, magic, and tinkering makes him an artificer! (tagged as #jake)
those are the main NPCs! minor NPCs are DeLacey, owner of Boudreaux’s Beer ‘n’ Board (the local tavern/inn), Garron the cool gargoyle dude (currently imprisoned under Vir’s old lab), Gam Gam, owner of Gam Gam’s General Goods, Quentin, the stablemaster, Percy, the stableboy, Cadmus, the blacksmith, and Thaddeus, the local priest and librarian.
i don’t know if i have any posts for this yet, but i’m also running The Lost Mines of Phandelver with my family. this will be tagged as #lost mines of famdelver or just #famdelver !! characters are Grimmor Twoblade (dad! half-orc barbarian sailor lad), Aurora Evers’more (mom! high elf paladin), Thea Birch (lil sis! dragonborn rogue), and Ida Marigold (littlest sis! forest gnome ranger) :•]
i also tag a lot of dnd stuff as “#brynna”. Brynna is unrelated to Dunmar’s Drop and Famdelver. she’s my character! (finally, i get to actually play!) i use her during sessions at the D&D club at my school, which i’m an officer in. she’s a firbolg life cleric and i love her with my whole heart. i could talk about her for hours but this post is getting really long and i don’t wanna be annoying so aaaaaa Thank You So Much if you made it this far!!
(ps brynna’s best friend is named wild bill he’s a minotaur barbarian played by my friend amaya. they’re feuding right now but they love each other. they have friendship lockets)

IT’S BELLAMY BRIAR!!! HE’S MY DND OC. HERE’S SOME ART OF HIM. NOW IM GONNA TALK ABOUT HIM THANK U FOR VIEWING AND MAYBE READING PLEASE LOVE MY BOY THANKS.
Bellamy Briar is an undead revenant ghost, who was brought back from death by an evil god of the unknown, dreams and secrets, The Hidden One, after Bellamy ritualistically sacrificed himself in a failed attempt to save his dying daughter.
He’s my oc and dnd character, and he is my favourite and most developed and complex oc I have ever made in my 15+ years of writing ocs. I originally created and played him for a (currently on hiatus) Curse of Strahd dnd campaign where he’s a plague doctor grave cleric with a penchant for being undead, rapier fighting, letting party members die before deciding he should heal them, and generally being the freaky resident cryptid everyone hates. He hides his appearance and nature behind a plague mask; in the campaign the party has no idea that he’s dead, and until I revealed it outside of the game during the current hiatus, the other players had no idea either.
💉💀 🌹  DR BELLAMY BRIAR  🌹💀💉
Age: ~100 at time of death, ~160+? at campaign start
Height: 6’4”
Pronouns: he/him
Race: sun elf w/ UA Revenant subrace
Class: grave cleric
Occupation: surgeon, physician, apothecary, plague doctor, failed dad, local sad ghost boy, horny goth priest dtf
Other shit: Gay, aspie, occultist, left handed, in love with fantasy satan oops
Alignment: neutral good (alive) / chaotic neutral (dead)
Proficiencies: Medicine (expertise, +10 babyee), history, insight, perception, intimidation
BACKSTORY!!!
In life, he was a gentle, mild mannered genius surgeon and doctor obsessed with the occult and stalked by a sinister figure in his dreams - the Hidden One  (true name Indrik, @jacobin my dm’s oc and npc), watching and waiting for his prophecy to begin, of which Bellamy was supposed to be a core part of. Born in Barovia to displaced elven parents, he had a childhood of emotional neglect and abuse as his parents attempted to shape him into the black sheep prodigal son they believed would absolve him of his crime of being accidentally born, which trapped them forever with a newborn son in the purgatory-esque demiplane of Barovia.
When his sleepy rural village is obliterated by a terrible plague, Bellamy becomes the town’s plague doctor, desperately attempting to halt the inevitable. But then his adopted daughter - Anya, who Bellamy adores more than anything in the world -  falls ill to the plague. Unable to find a way to save her he turns to occultism, black magic, blood magic and cannibalism, necromancy, all the while rapidly losing his grip on sanity and wildly experimenting with darker and darker magic.
With all his options exhausted, his village in ruins and Anya dying, he turns to long gone old gods in desperation. Alone, insane with grief, with nothing left to live for, he cuts out his own heart in ritualistic sacrifice, offering his own life and body in return for Anya’s to an unknown god he preys to........ who turns out to be the Hidden One, watching god from his dreams, furious that his prophecy tool has managed to kill himself before the prophecy could even begin.
Tumblr media
The Hidden One, far from done with him, forms a pact with Bellamy to exchange Bellamy’s life for Anya’s.... but instead, brings Bellamy back to undeath as an empty ghost - devoid of body, emotion and humanity after the Hidden One eats his heart, ‘blessed’ with clerical powers over life death and the grave - and steals Anya’s dying soul to keep her ‘alive’ with him in the Abyss as his carrot on a stick to control and pacify Bellamy. Now he’s doomed to wander the countryside as a puppet spy for his god, obsessed with the idea of saving Anya’s soul, terribly lonely and unable to relate with the living he hides among while being forever cursed to haunt the plague doctor suit he died in.
Outside of current canon dnd story, I have likeee 70k+ words of prose written about Bellamy and uhhhhhhh also he and the Hidden One/Indrik end up oops enemies to lovers and my dm @jacobin and I are furiously obsessed with these two and I have literally not cared about or been more obsessed with a ship in my entire life, they are terribly sad boys in intense terrible love and have no idea how to make it work because one is a broken lonely god and the other is a broken lonely ghost and ALL THEY WANNA DO IS KISS AND BE HAPPY!!!!!
Tumblr media
anyway thats my boy and his god boyfriend thanks for listening to my ted talk please direct your questions and queries straight into my heart
also hey follow me on twitter! I’m way more active and post art regularly! @ shatterstag

The Mercenary Band
Tanef was sitting calmly at the base of the tower keep, sharpening her swords with a whetstone she had found in the weapon's storage in the keep. Her breathing was sharp with signs of pain, due to her chest being hit by a war hammer. Somehow she and her other 4 companions had survived the siege and the assault, now resting and recovering from wounds, aside from Shirra, who was sent as a messenger to get reinforcements and save them from the siege. She, with Loth, their cleric, helped Thurn and especially Horn to heal, as they had taken most of the beating in the fight. There were 3 fresh graves outside the fort, for those 3 unfortunate companions that had fallen in the assault.
“You should rest too, Tanef,” Shirra had come down to see the elf.
Tanef kept sharpening her blade “I want to go to the town and shake those councilmen by their collars. How dare they condemn us to death!” She threw the stone away in anger, but then almost collapsed due to her injured chest.
“You are in no shape to take the 3 day journey south. Rest!” Shirra insisted and patted Tanef on her shoulder.
“Someone needs to repair the gate or stay on watch” Tanef resisted.
“Me and Loth can take care of it, don't you worry!”
“Fine” Tanef gave in and walked upstairs and layed down to rest.
After a few hours Tanef rose up again and went out in the courtyard once more, seeing Thurn woken  up from his rest and standing around, balancing himself on a walking stick.Tanef walked over to him.
“Your leg is hurt?” she asked
“And you can't breathe normally” he answered
“What do you suggest as our next course of action?” Tanef asked.
“I personally do not want to deal with the so called council anymore, the already double corssed us already during the siege, I do not wish to be betrayed once more by those corrupted asses!” he proclaimed.
Tanef shifted around and thought for a second: “You are right, we should avoid dealing with them, as they have already proved to be untrustworthy, but we are under a contract for the next 3 months, we cannot break it or else we might be declared triaitors. I suggest we go back to the town and get our reward for the task. If we want to survive in this dimension we must live by its rules.”
Thurn growled “Sure, do the bare minimum, I'm fine with that.”
They both stood by in silence for a while, until Thurn whispered “This isn't my home anymore.”
Tanef hugged Thurn over his back and reassuringly said “It's fine, don't worry about it. We can make a new home, that is if you want to.”
He growled again and stabbed the ground with the stick strongly and went inside once more. Tanef stood for a while, thinking about how to help Thurn with accepting that his home dimension is all but gone. After that she walked off to inspect the walls and defences, unable to do so before due to the siege.
After a few hours of slwoly surveying the surrondings, Tanef went back to the fortress, to its tower keep, and saw everyone already gathered together. Tanef joined them and started to talk.
“How is the gate doing?” she asked to Shirra
“One side is useless, but the other is still standing, we'll need a new gate if we want to keep the fort for ourselves. I'm also concerned about the food stocks, we only have enough for a few days left, we'll have to travel to a village or the town soon to get the supplies we require.” Shirra said.
“We need more drink!” Horhrug said.
“Alright, we'll sort that out soon, but first we have to get to the town and get our reward for holding the fort. We can gather the supplies along the way.” Tanef told everyone.
“Who will stay behind and guard the fort, though?” Shirra asked. “Do you plan to recruit from the villages?”
“That is an option, yes, but it might take a bit too long to make sure its properly defended, so I propose that only I will go, while the rest of you stay behind and protect the fort.” Tanef answered.
“Wouldn't that make us vulnerable without you? We'll be 2 people less in case of another siege!” Loth said worryingly. “You are also hurt, don't you need some help with you?”
“We need to take our chances regardless, we will starve to death before we can leave the fort, and who know what those spineless bastards might do if we dont come in timely fashion, the lives sacrificed here would have been spent for nothing!” Tanef said
“Whatever you say, captain...”” Shirra said.
“So it's been decided, tomorrow morning I depart for Amelgalia.” tanef said, stood up and headed out.
“Where are you going?” asked Thurn
“I need some fresh air, that's all.” Tanef answered.
Next morning she went out before the sun was up.
She loved the night's sky the most, as it had the most going on. It had stars, moons and other objects she just couldn't find a name for. And sometimes something shot past or appeared for a few moments. The day sky she also adored, the fluffy forms of the clouds and the sun itself. She still hadn't seen a sun setting or rising, and she forgot to do so again this morning, too enchanted by the shifting tones of the sky as the morning came. Living almost all of her life underground had stolen her the joys of what a sky is.
But she also had to keep to her goal, getting to Amelgalia. She made sure to pack everything she needed, that is, food and a few essential things like flint and steel for firemaking and bandages, in case she got hurt. As well as her contract with the city, which she brought in case of needing a proof of her employment.
The trip to Amelgalia lasts one and a half days and she passed a village on her way there, before the night set. She decided to not push herself and find a place to camp for the night. The season seemed to be summer, as far as the subterranian upbringing told her, so she didn't see a reason to bring a tent or anything.
She decided to sleep on the trees, a pretty good hiding place in case of some bandits, and a perfect place to observe the stars from. Unfortunately she missed the sunset, again, so she made herself content with another night of star gazing, as she had done every evening so far. Before she knew it, she was asleep.
She woke up coughing, her chest hurting unbearably. She had overexhausted herself yesterday and now will have to go slower, maybe only reaching the city in the evening.
The sun was well up when she woke up, so she sighed in regret that she couldn't see the sunrise again, but onwards regardless, clutching her chest and resting on the road side to rest for a few moments.
Suddenly, she heard a noise that resembled a horse stamping the ground. She lookd to her left and safe a cart being pulled by a horse. She stood up and waved her arm towards th cart and waited for it to come closer. Soon, it came and stopped, its driver speaking down towards Tanef.
“Where do you want to go, stranger?” he asked.
“Amelgalia” Tanef responded.
“What business you got there?”
“I'm an adventurer and im heading to receive my reward from the council.”
The man scanned her body. “You do look like the sort. Are you by chance one of those mercenaries that occupy that fort up in the north?”
Tanef cackled. “I'm too young to throw my life away in such endavours.”
“How old are you then?” the man asked.
“Just 170 years old, not that much.”
The man looked with wide open eyes. “Alright then. Uh... do you require a ride to the city?”
“Of course” Tanef answered
She climbed in the cart and sat down, and the man cracked his whip and they rode onwards.
“So on what kind of adventure were you then? You don't really look like from here.” the man asked.
“Oh I come from far away lands, you could say not from this world, even. I was sent on far, far away quest by the council after an artefact, fought many monsters, got lost a few times and had to find my way back, you know, the usual adventuring stuff.” she told.
“From another world, eh? You are either a big liar, story teller or both.” the man replied.
“What if I am? I've told many lies to my comrades back when I still had any. I've told them stories that never took place, lied that I am some sort of... plane hopper, that I have seen the sky for hundreds of years, forced to hide my fascination with it in case I am found out to be a liar. Some nights I dream about... I mean dreamt about how much easier it would to slice their throats and find my way in the world by myself, without them stalling me.” Tanef said, coughing at the end.
The man dropped silent but then chuckled. “I didn't understand a single word from you, girl. You must have lived no more than 25 sumers, full of dreams and ambitions. Wait till you reach my age, then you will find a value in setting down, with friends... and maybe a partner. Did you run away from your home? No, you are dressed like some bandit, so maybe you are one! Maybe I should throw you out my cart, you filth. Better keep your mouth shut or you will get worse treatment than this!” The man spat out his words in anger.
“I'm sorry, I must have had something deep inside me that I needed to get out. I hope I didn't scare you too much” the man apologized after a small while.
Tanef remained silent and just looked at the surroundings while sitting in the empty cart.
After a few hours, the two reached a large fortified city, Amelgalia. Its walls were around 10 metres high and had several towers on them, protecting the insides of the city. There were some buildings outside the walls, though, mostly merchant booths and warehouses that wouldn't fit inside the city. The horse stopped and the old man spoke to Tanef.
“Well, this is it. We need to part now as I have business outside the walls. I wish you well on whatever you need to do here.” the man said.
“Thanks” Tanef muttered.
“Wait!” The man said as soon as Tanef started walking away. “What's your name?”
“Tanef.”
“Glad to meet you, Tanef. I am Kristoff!”
Tanef waved her arm as a goodbye and walked inside the city.

13 for the dnd ask!
13. Do you have a d&d character?
I have… so many… ok let’s see the ones I’m playing atm.
Tuesday’s I’m playing a kobold LG devotion paladin named Elizabeth or just Liz. She’s got a 20 dex and a negative to wisdom and will try to be ur friend.
Occasional Wednesday game. Fennec Faux. Half elf gloomstalker ranger. Honestly I need to develop his character more?
Thursday. Shadow monk shader-Kai elf named Non. Neutral. We just finished hoard of the dragon queen and started rise of Tiamat. She’s kinda just along for the ride to maybe witness the apocalypse or whatever other death and disaster is bound to happen.
Saturday Hell campaign. Bc we’re literally in hell rn. Playing Jacqueline. LN Human 1 lv fighter 11 cleric. Switched from grave domain follower of the raven queen to arcana domain bc I was brainwashed by a dragon… fun build bc I have polearm master, sentinel, and warcaster. Pairs well w booming blade and spirit guardians.
Saturday evil campaign. These two rotate every other Saturday. Basically we’re evil in this one. Valdr Cain. LE dhampir hexblade warlock/ shadow sorcerer mc. His patron is Fenrir who’s basically trapped in the Shadowfell atm.
Sunday. Playing Jim the light cleric in curse of strahd campaign. He’s doing his best…
Previously was playing Caslon the high elf divination wizard on tues. she’s like an ex librarian. that campaign is kinda on pause until we can reschedule it.
and Nic Carrol the tabaxi rogue bard (swashbuckler and college of swords) who survived all of CoS and now I can’t play them bc we restarted with HotDQ on thurs. I miss knife cat. Also they’re dating/engaged/married to Ezmerelda so  like if I ever get to play them again just be like *pulls out wallet* look at these pics of my wife and son! Do you wanna word vomit about your favorite dnd PCs? I wanna hear all about them please!
Omg, anon…bless you. Of course I do!
So right now I am playing two characters in different campaigns, and then I have another character for some upcoming campaign (maybe this year, maybe not). These are the three I have aesthetic-y blogs for, and they are probably my favorites, although I have a special place in my heart for my first character and she is involved in one of my current campaigns as a bit of a legacy.
Elysia (@la-elysia) is the character I’ve now been playing for the longest time, and I’m continuing to play her for probably another year. She is a grave cleric, and specifically a priestess of Hades. She’s a half-elf, and both her parents were good-aligned clerics (and their parents before them, and so on!). She was raised by the elf half of her family, and resents humans even though her parents parted on amicable terms. She also wanted to choose her own path in life, and so she chose to follow Hades. She thinks life is more complicated and dark than her families have always taught her, and that the most important thing to honor is the thin line between life and death.
When I started out playing her, she was fresh out of her (required) time as a soldier, so she was a little rough and edgy. She’s still quite young, and at first it was obvious how much she chose to worship Hades more as an “identity” choice than as a religious calling. But after visions and actual encounters with him over the course of the past campaign, her fangirl-y obsession has evolved into genuine devotion. She’s still kind of edgy, but she has learned some more restraint, and she has started seeing more of her decisions in the light of her deity. She’s also softened on humans a bit, after Hades seemingly marked another party member (a very messed-up human bard) as important for the coming battles.
I’m looking forward to finding out what her sexuality is, lol. She’s certainly somewhere on the ace spectrum, but I think she might be bi as well. It’s tricky for me to figure this out because her greatest devotion will always be to Hades, and she doesn’t like to really get close to others. She is uninterested in sex generally, but not sex-repulsed; if the proper context arises, I think she might be interested in sex for ritual purposes, which sounds like a fun thing to explore.
Then there’s Remi, @remi-wtmadir. She is a very shy wizard who is beginning to come into her own. She is Dragonborn, but is no longer in contact with any of her family (a prominent dynasty of warriors and leaders) due to her more eccentric interests. She’s in her mid-40s and has spent the last couple decades in academia - studying magic, of course, but also researching her great love, Infernal poetry. She has a small collection and hopes to start her own library.
Remi is quite awkward and is uncomfortable with using her size and apparent fearsomeness to gain any benefits. However, she has a very analytical and strategic mind, which has led her to an interest in war magic and especially battlefield control. She is very attached to her party members, but is not sure how to appropriately express it.
This has only come up a little bit so far in the actual campaign, but she finds religion a bit distasteful. She enjoys the beautiful art, architecture, music, and poetry produced by religious fervor, but in general she thinks it tends to be mindless and that the so-called deities worshipped by others (yes, even her friends) are undeserving of such praise. Her upbringing was religious, and she’s uncomfortable in overtly religious spaces (shrines, temples, etc.) as a result, although she is not intolerant of religious people. She is also a lesbian, but has had very little chance to connect romantically with anyone because she felt especially othered by her race and background. I am hoping she finds someone who would be interested in sharing her life’s work!
Finally, there’s Margana, @marganathered, who is brand new but I find exciting so I wanna talk about her! She’s a human warlock, with a fiend patron (details not yet worked out). She was quite wealthy for a while as she made a living as a famed and beautiful dancer. She loves nice things, but her greatest love is actually for her husband, who is a very gentle, kind, and simple sort of man. Unfortunately, she had a bad injury and was unable to dance. They quickly fell into poverty, and she watched her husband suffer doing long hours of work he loathed. So she sought out a way to repair her injury. She’s not the most patient or learned, so there were some unintended consequences - in regaining her ability, she lost her husband. Her new patron told her she could recover him if a certain quota of destruction was met. If it were up to her, she would probably have few qualms about anything standing in her way, but she knows he would lose his love for her if he found out she had slaughtered innocents to get him back, so she has to be a little more thoughtful about how she meets this quota. Also, her wedding ring is her focus, which I just think is fun.
Other characters I’ve played recently or have in the wings include Matilda (the OG monk who makes terrible decisions and loves kids), Fryryn (genderfluid lizardfolk druid who spent way too long in isolation), Elas (Elysia’s nerd brother who would probably die immediately if I had to actually play him), Buddy (totally normal paladin bro, the best guy you will ever meet), Angelique (dwarf barbarian who really wants to explore her feminine side), H (man? woman? nb? human? elf? two gnomes stacked on top of each other? who knows but they’re a warlock and hella cool), and Issmi (weird human fighter/rogue/monk, would fuck you up as soon as look at you).
