imagine baxter ward as your manager. he's by far the most personable hire you've got, but there's an air of detachment to him that sings to the allure of mystery; a strange, offputting charm that comes with how easily he smiles at you no matter the acidity of any sour attitude you might harbor. be it that you're not a morning person or that you're simply a surly person in general, he'll take all of it - all of you - in stride with nary a strand of hair out of place nor a blemish or bruise on his flawless press-board figure.

and maybe if you were a bit more brazen than what was listed in your job description, maybe if you were a naïve little thing - you might have eyed the sweep of his delicate fingers across his bangs with more intrigue, might have found a dark sort of thrill in the smoked swim of his voice as he pings off demands and calls like bullets off armor, might have taken more time than you needed to watch him slide off the impeccably cut blazer hiding all that smooth-planed goodness.

maybe if you were a bit bolder, you'd let your curiosity get the better of you; wrestle every instinct and rule hammered into your brain like tenderized meat and keep it all under lock and key in favor of using the tick of his fingers and the unlacing of his scarf in the mornings as a distraction for your ever-fidgeting eyes.

but it's hard to ignore when he's dead set on making sure everything goes perfectly - and by that, he means that everything must go your way. any desire of yours, any base need or fleeting want or whatever may come betwixt - it will all be yours at the work of his hands if you so much as snapped your fingers.

So for the past few days I've been having massive Baxter brainrot. So if you're still doing requests; How would Baxter react to an MC who is so patient and understanding of his internal struggles because they too had emotionally unavailable or neglectful parents? -- Depending on your personality, when the serious conversation part was over he might want to joke around about it.

-- Not in a mean way at all, not even in like a teasing way about your specific situation, just like a general way to lighten the mood.

-- If this is during Step 3, then it will make him feel even worse for leaving and cutting all ties because you wouldn't have that supportive family there for you. It would be another person not treating you as well as they should, and he hates himself for it.

-- Step 4 Baxter has 100% got you though.

-- It doesn't matter if you end up together or make friends again, he's going to be reaching out on holidays and your birthday, offering to do things with you. Well, it's an offer if you're friends and you got married to Cove or whatever, if you're dating then boy is he going to make those days special!

Cove + Winona: Winona is kind of a scattered, spontaneous person, so actual rituals and patterns are kind of rare for her — but there are exceptions. One of the most treasured repetitions in her life is getting ready for bed with Cove. They start winding down for the day, weaving around each other and slowly putting on their pajamas (for Cove, his classic mismatched pants and shirt; for Winona, a tattered teeshirt or one of Cove’s work shirts). Winona will sit on the counter and wipe her makeup off while Cove brushes his teeth. Cove pulls his hair up for the night while Winona cleans and places her glasses on their holder. Lights shut off, blinds go down. And eventually they just tangle up together and drift off.

Luella + Derek: Going to the boardwalk! Whenever they have the carnival, they ALWAYS go. Especially since it holds so much significance in the development of their relationship! Face painting is always a must — as well as a Ferris wheel ride. Of course, some aspects change or develop as they get older, but the core of the fun remains the same. They always try to get a selfie on the dock with their face paint on. They date it and have a string of pictures for each of their visits.

Baxter + Vérène: Vérène is not about to let Baxter let his dance skills go to waste. They’re long-distance for a majority of their re-established relationship, so actually sharing a space with each-other is pretty rare during that period. But when they do get together, Vérène always make sure they dance in the kitchen at least once! Music (preferably French) playing, lights dimmed, and the stars OUT! Vérène insists that he teaches her how to properly dance, and he obliges. He just trust to go slow for her.

Tabby + Qiu: Basically, whenever one of them needs a trim or haircut, they’ll cut each other’s hair! They watch a LOT of YouTube videos to gage how to do it, but the results are varied. Qiu once ended up with a temporary bob. Tabby had an accidental undercut for a while. But it’s okay! Usually it works out. Besides, Tabby wouldn’t want anyone else to do it.

And I’m still working on a Tamarack MC so N/A for now!

i dont think he started identifying as aro until his late 20s, early 30s bc he didnt know about the term, but he figured something was up by the time he was in med school. he thought everyone else was exagerating romantic feelings until the whole thing w Hopkins Guy and Ethan, bc Ethan was getting Big Mad that Tobias was "leading Guy on" bc he and Guy were in a fuckbuddies thing. Guy wanted """"""something more"""""" and kept hinting at it but Tobias very much was not picking up what he was putting down bc Tobias just doesnt see romantic relationships as "something more" than a platonic or sexual one. he & Ethan had a big blowup fight over it bc Ethan had feelings for both him and Guy, which was the beginning of the end of their friendship + the catalist for Tobias realizing hes aro even though he didnt have the word for it yet. more of a "huh. i guess this life experience really is different from everyone else's" type thing

Tobias and Reigan's relationship just kinda came out of a mutual complaining about family and friends and coworkers (not Baxter of course) being weird about them both being single into their thirties. they first met during the maitotoxin attack, and then they met again bc Tobias' moms run an antique store together in NYC that Reigan goes to a lot. they started hanging out bc they do like each other & Tobias's moms had been trying to set them up for a while. at first they were just like "sure why not" but the more they hung out the more they realize that they just felt comfortable around each other, which led them to trusting each other enough for them to get married for legal purposes

i think Reigan was the first to suggest they get married? or at least he was complaining about how the laws are set up to favor married couples and Tobias was like "Hey. What If We Game The System."

🧫 Were your turtles mutated intentionally or on accident?

Their mutation was VERY much an accident. It happened during what was supposed to be a quick ninja-in ninja-out mission, but…somebody else was there when they shouldn't have been.

It was really a major case of wrong place; wrong time. Or right place; right time? Eh, depends on who you ask I guess.

🧪 Where does the mutagen come from?

I talked a bit about this in the Shredder’s Motivation question, but I can go a little more into detail.

T.C.R.I is a science & technology research company, with multiple locations across the states (and still branching out). Their main location is in NYC. They have many fields of research, but the only branches that matter for this question are the ones specialized in medical enhancement formulas (like…steroids) & DNA.

Saki persuades (read: bribes) the lead scientists of these branches, Dr. Baron Draxum & Dr. Victoria Falco, to create a formula that genetically alters a person’s DNA & essentially turns anyone who takes it into a nearly unstoppable force: increased strength, speed, senses, the works (of course they can’t remove the humanity of someone so they’re still mortal and all.)

The substance, or ooze if you will, that mutates the turtles is the first remotely successful batch of this formula. Still not perfect, but highly potent stuff.

���� Is there a Baxter stockman in your au?

Currently, no. But I would like to include him somewhere if I can, as he’s one of my favourite B-list villains. He will most likely have a more minor role, similar to his Mirage origins or in Rise, if I do add him.

Splinter tried to give the boys as normal a life as possible, given their whole turtle situation. They are not hidden away, never to see the light of day, but they are not paraded around either. They often went to the grocery store when needed, went to parks to play (albeit usually later than most kids would), etc. they were simply covered up and layered in clothing. One of the perks of having a human presenting guardian, I suppose.

Other than that…they were raised with the best intentions an “I am an early 20’s adult living in a bachelor apartment suddenly now a parental guardian of four toddler boys wtf am I doing” can possibly offer. Sure it wasn’t perfect, yeah there were a lot of mess ups, but they were family, and there were rarely doubts about that.

Still aren’t, really.

Sandro: Named after the Italian Renaissance painter Alessandro Filipepi (AKA Botticelli), artist behind the famous work “The Birth of Venus” amongst many others.

He can be rather obnoxious, and has an abrasive, nosy, and younger-sibling brat personality. He’s the type to insult you with the most innocently sincere smile on his face. Never seems able to sit still, even when talking directly to him. Competition is his main driving force, with a great desire to be better than others. But only when he wants to succeed in that aspect; he’s not gonna bother being better than you at knitting, ‘cause that pastime doesn’t interest him.

What does interest him is fighting and sparring, as it helps him regulate his energy. He’s quite strong, despite not being a very big guy, and prefers a hand-to-hand combat style. Although he’s learned to restrain himself from jumping into any and every fight, the moment he gets the green light you’d better be prepared ‘cause he will move in FAST. He also likes a good prank (who doesn’t??), and snacks. Ninja Diet be darned, the boy will have his oreos if he wants them!!

And yes, Sandro is a turtle. He’s a red-eared slider. His colour code is Emerald.
