A Fire Endless is the second book in the Elements Of Cadence series and just as fantastical and entertaining as the first book. This is the story of two clans, East and West, Breccans and Tamerlaines and it follows the people of these lands who are struggling to be at peace with each other and also appease the spirits of fire, earth, sky, wind and water. ⁣ ⁣ In this instalment, (without giving too much away from the first book!), we find a particular spirit, Bane the spirit of the North Wind wreaking havoc over both lands leading the Tamerlane bard Jack and the heiress of the East, Adaira struggling to find new ways to ease their struggles. Meanwhile, Torin and Sidra are having to cope with a new menace, a deadly and mysterious sickness that leads Torin on a mission to ask the spirits for help before more lives are lost. ⁣ ⁣ I buddy read this series with @keeperofpages and it was such a lovely world to escape to, filled with magical moments and unforgettable characters. I felt I identified more with Torin and Sidra, particularly the latter, who is a wonderfully brave and sympathetic medicine woman for the East. I also greatly appreciated that the romance elements were tasteful and never the full focus or drive of the narrative. ⁣ ⁣ This is a brilliant book for fans of fantasy and those beautiful other-worldly elements that take you to a different time and place. ★ How many books will you have read in February? Which were your favorites? Happy Monday all! It was a slower reading month compared to January for me—but looks like I’ll still end the month with 21-22 books! I started The Roughest Draft (which I am loving) a bit ago, and hope to make it my last read of the month. My favorites of the month have been: Deadly Dreams, House of Earth and Blood (reread), House of Sky and Breath, Wicked Beauty (eARC), and Lore Olympus (I am into the second season now!). I think The Roughest Draft is going to land on that list too. Speaking of favorite books—unsigned editions of @illumicrate’s Madeline Miller set are still available for purchase! These sets are some of the prettiest I’ve seen, with: Gold foiled covers, quotes on the spine, bound-in author letters, and a slipcase featuring matching gold foil designs to all three sides. I am so blinking excited that it’s Friday!! Not only is it the weekend but I have Monday to Thursday off next week too and I’m going away for a little 2 night getaway. What better way to celebrate than with a book haul? 🤪 These three gorgeous hardbacks are special editions, either from @waterstones or @illumicrate where I have become a recent subscriber. I loved Isabel Allende’s House Of Spirits and was determined to check out her latest novel, Violeta which I’m going to be buddy reading with the beautiful @sandladysbooks This novel has been described as epic, fiercely inspiring and deeply emotional. It follows one extraordinary woman, one hundred years of history and an unforgettable story. Yes please 🤤 Then there is the gorgeous This Woven Kingdom which I have already buddy read with my awesome IG and real life bestie @keeperofpages I shared the sprayed edges of this exclusive Illumicrate edition when I first got if and will share again in my review. It’s a great story and I definitely can’t wait for the next in the series. Finally, The Leviathan which also has gorgeous sprayed edges courtesy of Waterstones. It’s been described as the most beguiling debut of 2022 and is a tale of family and loyalty, superstition and sacrifice but most of all it is a spellbinding story of impossible things.
