The Storygraph is superior to goodreads because of those sweet statistics but I will not stop using goodreads so I'm tracking my reading in 3 separate places

Hello everyone, I’ve got that Friday feeling and I’m celebrating by sharing another book haul! Have you read any of these books or authors? Send Nudes was a must buy for me (not just for the title 😂) It’s a short story collection that shows the difficulties but also empowers different women. We have stories about sending nudes, toxic female friendships, jealousy, abortion, seduction, desire and relationships with other women (mother/daughter, ex’s). The Twyford Code is the second novel by Janice Hallett and much anticipated after her stonkingly good bestseller, The Appeal which I recently finished ready with a host of other lovely bookstagrammers. Like The Appeal, it’s a mystery and a puzzle that focuses on a famous children’s book, it’s margins full of strange markings and annotations. Finally, one of the books I was most excited for this year - To Paradise. I buddy read this with my bestie @tarheelreader and I can’t wait to tell you all my thoughts. It’s three separate books across three different time periods but in each book, the characters have the same names. More to come in my review! For now, let’s have a chat in the comments and have a lovely weekend everyone! 🤗😘 #bookstagram #bookstagramuk #bookhoarder #bookhaul #newbooksplease #hardbackhoarder #sendnudes #sabasams #shortstorycollections #thetwyfordcode #janicehallett #toparadise #hanyayanagihara #ilikebigbooksandicannotlie #mysterynovels #keephauling #booksforever #bookobsessed https://www.instagram.com/p/CZ2Sp2iLhZT/?utm_medium=tumblr

Organization and Bookish Boxes
Ordered an Owl crate box and its shipped! I have never purchased an Owl crate and I have been on the fence about any book box. But I broke down and got it! I am planning to do an unboxing. I will just record myself opening it and upload that video here.
ALSO, what I am most excited about, yes over getting a box full of bookish goodies, is my new book tracker spreadsheet, thank you to Hardback Hoarder on YouTube for the template and doing all the work. All I must do is fill in the blanks- literally. It even does the math for you!
If you are interested in using this spreadsheet, she does explain it while using the sheet, in this video, feel free to check it out! I must say it is a game changer for me!

Scallywagathon TBR
I’ve been waiting for Scallywagathon to be announced so I’m going to TRY to squeeze it into the month. I’m sticking to the sea rather than the space pirates theme she did this year. It’s being hosted by @hardbackhoarder and is running from May 5-12th. You take a journey through the map above to pick your path (4 challenges). Go see her YouTube channel for all the details!
My "path" will be:
4. Less than 200 pages...knowing this author, this will be some kinky mermaids but at 149 pages, Mad Sea (K. Webster) fits the bill.
8. Revenge Plotline...This features my favorite pirate (privateer), but I'm using Nina's plot from King of Scars (Leigh Bardugo) to meet the challenge. It's next up in my Grishaverse schedule and then I’ll be all caught up (for now!)
C. Been Afraid to Read...time for some killer mermaids with Into the Drowning Deep by Mira Grant. I’ve heard that this is scary, so I’ve been hesitant. My son is most excited about this one so it will be taking priority because he wants to read it.
10. Recently Hauled...the week that this readathon is happening is the release for The Bride Test by Helen Hoang, which I’m also reading for Asianreadathon.

Hello everyone and hope your week has started off well. It’s book haul day and today I’m sharing three Virago hardbacks that I got in the most beautiful editions which Virago call their Coming Of Age Collection. My Brilliant Career follows a young girl called Sybylla who is coming of age in early 20th century Australia and she is refusing to marry a wealthy man in order to maintain her independence. Slammerkin is by one of my favourite authors and I’m slowly getting round to her backlist. This tells the story of Mary Saunders, a lower class girl in the 18th century who despairs at the life ahead of her. She decides to strike out and make her own path in life. Invitation To The Waltz follows Olivia Curtis as she prepares for her first dance and teeters on the edge of womanhood. Unlike her sister, she is awkward and shy and is terrified at the prospect of such a ritual in her already restricted social life. This particular haul is a bit niche but I’d still love to hear your thoughts, especially if you’ve read these or any other books by these authors. Let’s have a chat in the comments. Have a lovely week everyone! 🤗😘 #bookstagram #bookhaul #bookhoarder #bookheaven #beautifulbooks #hardbackhoarder #hardbackhaul #viragomodernclassics #viragocomingofageclassics #mybrilliantcareer #milesfranklin #slammerkin #emmadonoghue #invitationtothewaltz #rosamondlehmann #bookstagrammer #morebooksplease https://www.instagram.com/p/CTfP1fZIq3f/?utm_medium=tumblr

I was tagged by @literaery-me to talk about a book I’ve really enjoyed reading this year.
There were a few books I’ve really enjoyed but I think first and foremost I would have to go with Sandman Slim by Richard Kadrey. I enjoyed this title so much that I went ahead and purchased the next seven books in the series off of Book Outlet. That’s how much I enjoyed it.
The main character is a magician, part of a group of people called “sub-rosas.” His particular little click ends up turning on him, killing him and sending him to hell where he spends eleven years in the fighting arena, working for upper level demons and getting an even snarkier attitude then before. Eventually he grows tired of being “downtown” and steals the key back to the world of the living to take revenge on those who’ve done him wrong in a way that would make Eric Draven from the Crow bow down to his badassery.
Dark Urban Fantasy is probably one of my all time favorite genres. Im currently reading book two and its just as good as the first one so far.
There’s lots of supernatural creatures, magic, snarky commentary and action. If you enjoy books like the Nightside Novels by Simon R Green, Matt Richter Books by Tim Waggoner, Junkyard Druid by M.D. Massey then this is definately worth the read.
I tag:   @bookwormsshallruletheworld @bookswithmichelle @reviewsandrecaps @hardbackhoarder @reading-takes-you-places and anyone else who would like to do this tag!
