Chandigarh Resident Himansh Verma Accused of Passport Fraud and Immigration Scams
A Sector 8 resident, Himansh Verma, is under investigation for his involvement in a human trafficking and immigration fraud case. Currently on the run, Verma is wanted by the Jalandhar police and has a reward of âš1 lakh announced for his capture.
Himansh Verma and the Navrattan Group: A Front for Illegal Activities
According to Jalandhar police, Himansh Verma, the managing director of Navrattan Group of Companies, allegedly used his firm as a front to carry out an illegal immigration racket. Verma and his accomplices reportedly deceived individuals by promising them passage to the USA through Mexico. The group also facilitated the travel of hundreds of individuals to Hungary under false pretenses, with many victims still missing and feared to be casualties of human trafficking.
Concealed Criminal Record in Passport Application
The Chandigarh police recently booked Himansh Verma for concealing his criminal record during his passport application process. The regional passport officer of Chandigarh filed a complaint, revealing that Verma failed to disclose his involvement in various criminal cases, including his alleged role in an immigration fraud racket in Jalandhar. A case has been registered against him at the Sector 3 police station under Section 420 (cheating) of the Indian Penal Code and the Passport Act.
Previous Allegations Against Himansh Verma
Vermaâs legal troubles extend beyond the immigration racket. He is also an accused in a multi-crore bank scam, leading to the attachment of his Sector 8 residence by the Enforcement Directorate. Authorities are investigating additional allegations of fraud connected to him.
Escape from Custody and Widening Investigations
Himansh Vermaâs criminal activities came to light when Jalandhar police brought him to his Sector 8 residence on October 15, 2021. During the operation, Verma reportedly escaped from custody by pushing a constable. Since then, he has evaded arrest, leaving authorities scrambling for leads.
The Jalandhar policeâs investigation indicates that high-profile individuals, including singers and embassy officials, may have been involved in Vermaâs illegal operations. The scope of his activities, including trafficking routes and connections, remains under scrutiny.
Public Appeal for Information
With a âš1 lakh reward announced for his arrest, the Chandigarh police urge the public to come forward with any information regarding the whereabouts of Himansh Verma. His alleged crimes span multiple domains, including human trafficking, immigration fraud, and financial scams, making his capture a high priority for law enforcement agencies.
Authorities continue to investigate his connections, accomplices, and the full extent of his illegal enterprises, aiming to bring justice to the victims of his schemes.

Trump has a "talent" of distracting from his failures with new failures, so I'm here to remind you of all of his greatest hits that are still relevant and ongoing:
Mishandled and lied about the deadly COVID pandemic, leading to millions of deaths worldwide and a million in the US
Launched an insurrection to stay in power after losing the 2020 election, including a false elector scheme and a violent riot on the Capitol. He pardoned the criminals he incited as soon as he started his second term.
Was found legally liable for rape in court.
Empowered the unelected Elon Musk to start illegally cutting funding to any and every government program he feels like based on a false claim of "efficiency".
Plans to ethnically cleanse Gaza to turn it into some fucked up resort. Removed the few guardrails the Biden administration put on Israel's conduct and urged them to "finish the job".
Betrayed Ukraine and hampered their defense efforts against Putin's invasion. Started planning the subjugation of Ukraine directly with Putin.
Unilaterally declared himself to have war powers to lock up and deport migrants with no due process. Has been keeping hundreds of Venezuelan migrants in a Salvadoran prison with no due process. Has openly defied multiple court orders to return them to the US
Has been illegally suppressing the free speech rights of anti-Israel protestors in universities by revoking their immigration status. Including kidnapping and detaining a protestor with no due process.
His administration officials have been holding high-level classified discussions on a public messaging app using their normal phones. Security was so lax one of them accidentally invited a journalist to such a discussion and none of them noticed.
And most recently: Started an unnecessary and extremely self-destructive trade war with basically the entire world, causing immense damage to the economy.
These are just the things I could remember off the top of my head. It doesn't include all the other fucked up stuff Republicans are doing. It also doesn't include any of his cabinet picks, all of which are awful and have and will cause damage with their conduct.

The Proposal
When a sudden immigration issue threatens to deport you back to Canada, you devise a plan: convince your charming but infuriating neighbor, Quinn Hughes, to marry you. What starts as a wild scheme leads to unexpected feelings, hilarious misadventures, and a deeper connection.
this was originally going to be a series but my brain went pooft
Your life is officially a disaster. All it took was a single letter from immigration. Due to some bureaucratic nightmare, your visa is expiring, and youâre suddenly at risk of being deported back to Canadaâa place you havenât lived in years. Your job, your friends, your entire life is here now. You pace your apartment, chewing on your lip, heart racing with panic. There has to be a solution, some way to stay.
Thatâs when the idea hits youâcrazy, reckless, and entirely illegal.
You need someone to marry you.
But not just anyone. It has to be someone local, single, and trustworthy enough to go along with this scheme. Unfortunately, your options are limited. And then you think of your neighbor: Quinn Hughes.
The thought makes you groan aloud. Sure, heâs gorgeousâwith his sharp jawline, quiet charm, and infuriating smirkâbut the two of you are more like frenemies than anything else. Your relationship consists mostly of snarky comments in passing and the occasional argument over his terrible parking. But desperate times call for desperate measures. And besides, if anyone can convincingly pretend to hate you while still marrying you, itâs Quinn.
The Proposal:
Later that evening, you find yourself standing outside Quinnâs door, chewing nervously on the inside of your cheek. The moment he opens it, dressed in a hoodie and gym shorts, you blurt out, âI need you to marry me.â
Quinn blinks, stunned. âWhat?â
You take a deep breath. âItâs not what it sounds like. Itâs just⌠immigration messed up my visa, and if I donât fix this soon, Iâm going to be deported. The fastest way to stay is if I marry a U.S. citizen.â
He leans against the doorframe, arms crossed, a hint of amusement in his dark eyes. âAnd you thought I was the best option?â
âYes,â you say, trying to sound confident. âI mean, youâre already in my life. Sort of. And itâs not like you have a girlfriend or anything, soâŚâ
Quinnâs lips twitch with the beginnings of a smile. âYou do realize this is illegal, right?â
âOnly if we get caught,â you say quickly. âLook, itâs just a piece of paper. We donât have to actually act married. We just have to fool immigration long enough for me to get my green card, and then we can⌠annul it or whatever.â
He studies you for a moment, as if weighing the insanity of your request. âWhatâs in it for me?â
You rack your brain for something to offer. âIâll stop giving you shit about your parking.â
Quinn chuckles softly. âThatâs it?â
âAnd⌠Iâll buy you coffee every morning,â you add, desperate.
He lets out a long, exasperated sigh, rubbing the back of his neck. âYou owe me. Big time.â
Your heart leaps. âSo thatâs a yes?â
Quinn shrugs, looking both amused and resigned. âGuess Iâve got nothing better to do.â
Hilarious Misadventures Ensue:
From the moment Quinn agrees, things spiral into a series of chaotic events. You and Quinn suddenly have to act like the perfect couple, and itâs harder than you anticipatedâmainly because the two of you are polar opposites.
1. The Wedding: You decide on a quick courthouse wedding to make it official. Thereâs no fanfareâjust you in a white sundress and Quinn looking mildly annoyed in a button-down shirt.
âI feel like we should say something meaningful,â you whisper as the judge prepares to officiate.
Quinn smirks. âLike what? âTil deportation do us partâ?â
Despite yourself, you snort, and the judge gives you both a strange look. You manage to keep a straight face just long enough to exchange vowsâif you can even call them thatâand sign the marriage license.
âWell, Mrs. Hughes,â Quinn teases after, flashing a grin. âHow does it feel to be married?â
âLike I made a huge mistake,â you reply with a playful glare.
2. The Fake Instagram Life: To sell the story, you both agree to post a few couple-y photos on social media. The problem? Neither of you are exactly Instagram-savvy.
Quinnâs first attempt is a blurry photo of the two of you holding coffee cups. âWhatâs wrong with it?â he asks, frowning as you groan.
âIt looks like a hostage situation, Quinn.â
After several failed attempts, you finally manage a decent photo: you sitting on his lap, laughing as he pretends to kiss your cheek. Itâs fake, of course. Completely fake. But the way his hand rests on your waist feels a little too real.
3. Immigration Interview Disaster: The immigration interview is the real test, and itâs an absolute disaster.
The officer asks simple questions: âHow did you two meet?â âWhatâs Quinnâs favorite food?â
You both answer at the same time, giving completely different answers.
âSpaghetti,â you say.
âChicken tenders,â Quinn mutters.
You shoot him a look. âSince when?â
âI told you that last week,â he whispers back, exasperated.
The officer narrows her eyes, and you and Quinn exchange panicked glances. Somehow, you scrape through the interview, but not without promising each other to actually learn more about each other next time.
Feelings Get Complicated:
What started as a transactional arrangement begins to shift. The longer you spend time togetherâwatching TV on his couch, cooking dinner side by side, sharing space in ways that feel dangerously domesticâthe more the lines blur between whatâs fake and what isnât.
One rainy night, you find yourself curled up against Quinn on the couch, his arm casually draped around your shoulders. Your heart pounds in your chest, and you wonder if he feels it too.
âThis was supposed to be fake,â you whisper, almost afraid to say it aloud.
Quinnâs hand brushes your arm, sending shivers down your spine. âYeah,â he murmurs. âBut it doesnât feel fake anymore.â
You look up at him, your breath hitching as his gaze drops to your lips. Before you can overthink it, he leans in, capturing your mouth in a soft, tentative kiss. Itâs not rushed or rehearsedâitâs real. And itâs everything you didnât know you wanted.
The Inevitable Realization:
Over the next few weeks, everything changes. The fake touchesâhis hand on your back, your fingers laced through hisâbecome second nature. Quinn starts leaving his toothbrush next to yours. You start falling asleep in his bed more often than not.
And then, one morning, it hits you. Youâre not faking anymore.
You sit across from him at breakfast, watching as he scrolls through his phone, a lazy smile tugging at his lips. Itâs terrifying, how easy this has become.
âWhat are you thinking?â Quinn asks, glancing up from his phone.
You smile softly. âThat maybe this wasnât such a crazy idea after all.â
Quinnâs eyes crinkle with amusement, but thereâs warmth there tooâsomething deeper, more genuine. âGuess weâll have to stay married, then.â
You laugh, reaching across the table to take his hand. âLooks like youâre stuck with me, Hughes.â
And for the first time, he doesnât seem to mind at all.

Macron's fiery Sorbonne speech targets summering American Millennials
Itâs no coincidence that Emmanuel Macron gave a fiery speech about the threats facing Europe the same week that American Millennials in New York, LA, and Miami began talking about booking their one-way flights to the continent. "There is a risk our Europe could die - we are not equipped to face the risks," Macron said, referring to the dietary allergies, alternative milk needs, and tedious conversations of trust-funded, unemployed young adults who will begin their summer in Paris to attend a museum benefit that spills into a large dinner party with several professional photographers before traveling to Puglia, Comporta, or Ibiza where they will subsist on âbeautiful tomatoes,â flat whites, and MDMA.Â
Europe has struggled with illegal immigration for decades, and there is no more pressing illegal immigration threat than American Millennials who have decided that being unemployed in Europe is less distressing for their parents than being unemployed in Williamsburg. Google searches for âhow long can I stay in EU without passportâ spiked in late-April among Americans who have not yet bought a Portuguese passport from a guy who used to run a turnkey Burning Man camp who is now running a Golden Visa scheme in Lisbon. âOur Europe today is mortal,â Macron said. âIt can die and that depends solely on our choices,â the choices being whether or not to search and detain for ketamine at customs and how to clearly define tipping protocol in restaurants.Â

âIt used to be enough to spend a couple weeks in Italy in July,â observes Coco, a 34-year-old retired gallery founder who is on the board of several art-related non-profits that she instructed her unpaid interns to start. âBut now it gets so hot in Europe in July that everyone is going in June and even like, May.â Coco has several weddings and dinner parties in various coastal destinations in Europe in June, but she has not yet RSVPâd nor has she booked any travel. âI know Iâm going to go, but Iâve just been too busy to look at the dates or book anything,â she says, absently picking some kind of beige matter from the left eye of her toy goldendoodle. Macron at one point asserts in his speech that Europe is âtoo slow and lacks ambition,â referring directly to Cocoâs ambivalent European travel plans.Â
Uncertainty permeates the vibe in Europe right now, not because of a military threat posed by a giant, angry country with cocked nukes driven by a weak-minded Cold War relic, but because every Millennial in New York, Miami and Los Angeles has expressed their intention to occupy Europe without declaring the targets.Â
âIs very stressful,â says Aldo Melpignano, the proprietor of Borgo Egnazia, a trendy boutique hotel in Puglia that for Europeans costs âŹ120 a night and charges 30something Americans visiting from coastal zipcodes $970. âI see the hashtags on the Instagram, like, Iâm coming for your @borgoegnazia,â he says. âVa bene, Allison, when you gonna come for us, and are you gonna come with that stupid capello?â says Aldo while making a pinched-fingers emoji with one hand and pointing to his head with the other. Hotel, coffee shop, organic market, and narcotics purveyors all over Italy, France, Spain, and Portugal have echoed this desire for more resolute planning and fewer hats from the demographic that funds the less productive but more desirable EU countries. Â
"We must produce more, we must produce faster, and we must produce as Europeans," Macron said, a rallying cry to European DJs to sample only vocals that were recorded in native European languages. Â
âEurope must show that it is never a vassal of the United States and that it also knows how to talk to all the other regions of the world," Macron said, refuting the irrefutable fact that Europe has become a summer camp for unproductive younger Americans and suggesting that they be immediately deported to Bodrum or Izmir upon landing at CDG, MXP, and LIS.Â
âThis is a betrayal of our values that ultimately leads us to dependency on other counties,â Macron said, making an observation about Europeâs frustration with having to work between May and August in order to show American Millennials how to correctly tap their credit card on puzzling European payment terminals.
âEurope must become capable of defending its interests, with its allies by our side whenever they are willing, and alone if necessary,â said Macron, in defense of French baristas who do not like working with oat milk. Taking a hands-on approach to ensuring the EUâs âability to ensure our securityâ Macron and his wife will begin their Summer at a wedding in the Aeolian Islands in early June, float around Sicily or Puglia the following week, head to Bonjuk Bay for an appearance of prominent LA-based DJ, RICHE, and then couch-surf in Santa Gertrudis de Fruitera the rest of the summer.

To everyone saying about the mass deportations that "those people came illegally, PERIOD" - as if we have no choice but to reorient the entire apparatus of government around an expensive project to remove people largely already in the immigration system because they "broke the law" that's it that's all you need to know stop thinking about it further stop thinking - I'm going to need to you to look at this:
While also keeping in mind that illegally entry is a misdemeanor.... In the grand scheme of things, it's just not that serious of a crime.
On the other hand, sharing classified military information, accepting foreign bribes, hacking into government databases and exfiltrating the private information of all Americans, all of those used to be pretty serious crimes. Not under this administration though.
#us politics#and thats just off the top of my head!#anyway 'they broke the law PERIOD' is a thought terminating cliche#there are always choices in how we chose to deal with things and this administration is choosing a way that will destroy the country#very quickly too

President Donald Trumpâs administration has reportedly taken a drastic new step to force out undocumented Latino immigrants: marking 6,000 of them as dead.
People familiar with the strategy shared details with The Washington Post and The New York Times on Thursday, saying Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has directed the Social Security Administration to add the names and Social Security numbers of more than 6,000 immigrants, most of whom are Latino, into a database used to track dead people, stripping them of their ability to access benefits or work in the U.S.
The move is part of a Trump administration scheme to target immigrants who are undocumented but have Social Security numbers, which allow them to access benefits like Medicaid, unemployment insurance and federal student loans.
âPresident Trump promised mass deportations, and by removing the monetary incentive for illegal aliens to come and stay, we will encourage them to self-deport,â White House spokesperson Elizabeth Huston wrote in a statement. âHe is delivering on his promise he made to the American people.â
A White House official told the Post that of the 6,000 immigrants targeted, nearly 1,000 are collecting Medicaid, 41 are collecting unemployment insurance and 22 are receiving student loans.
A source told the Times that the list included a 13-year-old and seven other minors.
The Social Security Administration acknowledged in a blog post last month that being incorrectly put on its âDeath Master Fileâ could be highly damaging not only to that personâs well-being, but to that of their families too.
âInstances when a person is erroneously reported as deceased to Social Security can be [devastating] to the individual, spouse, and dependent children,â the SSAâs post said. âBenefits are stopped in the short term which can cause financial hardship until fixed and benefits restored, and the process to prove an erroneous death will always seem too long and challenging.â

The following is from author Stacey Patton. These are her thoughts on immigration and deportation...
"Itâs wild to me to see how you racists come on my threads and celebrate deportations like they are some kind of sport. Yâall laugh when Black and Brown students are snatched from classrooms, dragged from dorm rooms, and shipped to secret prisons.
Itâs even wilder to me when yâall throw around the word âILLEGALâ at foreign students, asylum seekers, and migrant workers like it doesnât belong to YOUR own bloodline. Yâall are the genetic leftovers of Americaâs original trespassers. Your ancestors were this landâs first ILLEGALS.
Your ancestors showed up uninvited, unwashed, and unwanted, carrying plague breath and Puritan delusions, and planted flags like fools mistaking theft for destiny. Your ancestors really thought conquest was a birthright and not a crime scene.
The only immigration crisis this land ever had was the day Indigenous folks didnât deport your ancestors. That was the original border breach. The failure to turn those rickety-ass ships around was humanityâs most expensive clerical error. And what did we get for it?
Genocide.
Slavery.
Environmental collapse.
Capitalism.
All of these are side effects of not checking that first batch of undocumented Europeans at the damn shoreline.
And just who were these illegals, eh?
Do you racists think your ancestors were royalty? Scholars? No! They were Europeâs WORST! Your ancestors were the runoff. The debtors, the zealots, the convicts, the beggars. Europe saw your ancestors as trash and dumped them here like toxic waste with muskets. And yâall been cosplaying as âfounding fathersâ ever since.
You racists love to forget THAT history.
Yâall like to pretend that your lineage glows with divine right. But your fairytale is just whitewashed poverty and exile. Your ancestors were so broke, dirty, and miserable that risking death across an ocean seemed like a better idea than staying put. And yâall got here and immediately started stealing shit. Stealing land, labor, resources, lives. Because thatâs all your people knew how to do.
And when we remind you people of this history, yaâll get quiet. Because you know good and well that your family tree has more in common with a wanted poster than a passport. Yâall donât want to admit that if the same rules you apply to immigrants today had existed back then, yâall would have been fish food off the Atlantic coast.
And yâall CHOOSE to forget how your own people were seen when they got here: Dirty. Lazy. Drunk. Uncivilized. Untrustworthy. Yâall werenât even considered âwhiteâ by Anglo standards. Lest we forget how yâall were depicted:
The Irish? Yâall were barely considered human. Just basically whiskey with legs. The Italians? Every one of you was either baking bread or running the mafia. The Jews? Yâall were the shadowy subversives secretly running the banks and the weather.
The Germans? Ticking time bombs with bratwurst breath. The Polish? Just dumb as hell. âHow many Poles does it takeâ wasnât just a joke, it was policy.
The Greeks? Lazy philosophers with too many opinions and not enough deodorant. The Russians? Cold, scheming, and apparently born with a bottle of vodka in one hand and a spy manual in the other.
The Hungarians? Anarchists with thick accents and questionable hygiene. The French? Snooty, soft, and always losing wars they started. The Scandinavians? Too quiet, too blonde, and always assumed to be harboring Viking rage just under the surface.
The whole damn European immigrant family was treated like the trash heap of the continent. Your great-grandparents were treated like vermin until whiteness was extended to them like a membership card with conditions. And now yâall have the gall to turn around, mouths frothing, and cheer when ICE snatches up and cages brown bodies.
You are the descendants of stowaways and squatters, and yet you dare to moralize about legality. Before yâall come for people chasing safety, education, or survival, maybe reflect on the fact that your whole existence here rests on nothing but Indigenous mercy and centuries of theft...!"

Trump doesn't want voters to be reminded of his disastrous responses to hurricanes. Trumpnesia may have caused many to forget how he threw paper towels at Puerto Rican victims of Hurricane Maria or how he used a Sharpie marker to try to change the path of Hurricane Dorian.
So to muddy the waters, Trump has been spewing a firehose of falsehoods about Hurricane Helene.
A few of Trump's lies fact checked.
Monday: Trump falsely claims Biden hasnât answered calls from Georgiaâs governor It was immediately clear that Trumpâs claim was false. Kemp, a Republican, told reporters earlier Monday that he had spoken with Biden the day prior â and that it was Kemp who had initially missed a call from Biden, not the other way around.
Trump himself has a record of problematic phone calls with Georgia state officials.
Monday: Trump cites baseless âreportsâ about anti-Republican bias in the North Carolina response Republican South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster said at a Tuesday press conference that federal assistance had âbeen superb,â noting that Biden and Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg had both called and told him to let them know whatever the state needed. McMaster also said FEMA Administrator Deanne Criswell had called.
The lies only get bigger...
Thursday: Trump falsely claims Harris spent âall her FEMA moneyâ on housing illegal migrants First, there is zero basis for Trumpâs suggestion that the Biden administration is running some sort of scheme to get undocumented immigrants to vote illegally in the 2024 election. Voting by noncitizens is a felony. Second, there is zero basis for claiming that FEMA disaster assistance money was stolen â by anyone, let alone Harris personally â for the housing of migrants.
^^^ That one ranks with the lies Trump and Vance are spreading about Haitian Americans eating pets in Ohio.
Friday: Trump falsely claims $1 billion was âstolenâ from FEMA for migrants and has gone âmissingâ Though Trumpâs Thursday claim about FEMA money and migrants had already been debunked by Friday, Trump repeated the claim to reporters at least twice on Friday â and then said it again at a Friday night town hall event in North Carolina.
It's never necessary for Trump to have proof of something. He just makes shit up to further his orgies of disinformation.
Saturday: Trump falsely claims the federal government is only giving $750 to people who lost their homes Trumpâs claim is wrong. As FEMA explained earlier in the week on social media andon a web page it created to combat misinformation about the response, $750 is merely the immediate, upfront aid survivors can get to cover basic, pressing needs like food, water, baby formula and emergency supplies. Survivors are also eligible to apply for additional forms of assistance, such as to pay for temporary housing and home repairs, that can be worth thousands of dollars; the current maximum amount for home repair assistance, for example, is $42,500.
For people poor at math, the difference between $750 and $42,500 is $41,750. And I don't think the $750 is deducted from the eventual $42,500.
Saturday: Trump falsely claims there are âno helicopters, no rescueâ in North Carolina This claim about North Carolina is false. There have been numerous government and private helicopters and other aircraft involved in rescue and aid efforts in North Carolina, though some residents died before they could be rescued and a significant number of residents have remained missing or stranded for days. The North Carolina National Guard announced Thursday that its own air assets had âcompleted 146 flight missions, resulting in the rescue of 538 people and 150 pets.â The Washington Post reported Friday [ ... ] CNN reported Saturday that air traffic over western North Carolina had increased 300% over the past seven days due to hurricane relief efforts, according to Becca Gallas, director of North Carolinaâs Division of Aviation. The state said in an official update Saturday: âA total of 53 search and rescue teams from North Carolina and beyond, consisting of more than 1,600 personnel have conducted search and rescue operations during this event. Search and rescue teams have interacted with over 5,400 people, including assists, evacuations and rescues.â
If Trump says something, it is almost certainly untrue. He is hoping to be heard by low information voters who get news from social media and other unreliable sources. It is up to you to step up your interaction with any such people who you may know personally. Send them articles and vids from reputable sources. Elections are won or lost one voter at a time.
A reminder you can give people: Trump made over 30,000 lies during his four years in office. He is not a reliable source of information.
Washington Post counts 30,573 false or misleading claims in four years by Trump
Would you buy a used car or a second-hand presidency from Weird Donald? đ¤¨

Poll of Deported Illegal Immigrants Gives Trump Record-Low Approval Rating in First 100 Days
WTF? What other results could you possibly expect from this "poll"? O'Biden paid the cartels with taxpayer money to flood the country with illegals. The Illegals cut the welfare line getting housing, food, and healthcare benefits that should have gone to needy Americans. The Illegals even got refillable debit cards for "walking around" money. Of course, they will give Trump low approval for sending them back. The REAL criminals here are the globalist politicians in cahoots with corporate America that orchestrated and executed this scheme.

Lydia O'Connor at HuffPost:
President Donald Trumpâs administration has reportedly taken a drastic new step to force out undocumented Latino immigrants: marking 6,000 of them as dead. People familiar with the strategy shared details with The Washington Post and The New York Times on Thursday, saying Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem has directed the Social Security Administration to add the names and Social Security numbers of more than 6,000 immigrants, most of whom are Latino, into a database used to track dead people, stripping them of their ability to access benefits or work in the U.S. The move is part of a Trump administration scheme to target immigrants who are undocumented but have Social Security numbers, which allow them to access benefits like Medicaid, unemployment insurance and federal student loans. âPresident Trump promised mass deportations, and by removing the monetary incentive for illegal aliens to come and stay, we will encourage them to self-deport,â White House spokesperson Elizabeth Huston wrote in a statement. âHe is delivering on his promise he made to the American people.â A White House official told the Post that of the 6,000 immigrants targeted, nearly 1,000 are collecting Medicaid, 41 are collecting unemployment insurance and 22 are receiving student loans.
The Trump White House wrongly marks 6,000 undocumented immigrants as âdeadâ in the hopes that they self-deport. Most of those 6,000 wrongly declared âdeadâ are Latino or Hispanic.

I've had this Dreaming The Proposal AU sitting in my drafts for a while. Then @voukkake comes out with this art and I figured it was time to brush off the dust and share what I'd written lol. This is seriously all I'm going to write so if anyone is interested I'm begging you to pick this up. I'm dying to read Dream awkwardly interacting with Hob's family (also @valiantstarlights suggestion that Betty White is Destiny?? ABSOLUTELY BRILLIANT). Anyway...
------------------
Dream is about to be deported because his visa application has been denied. He is in the middle of a meeting with his lawyers when Hob, his secretary, pops in the room to inform Dream of a very important phone call and Dream comes up with the insane plan to marry Hob to keep his immigration status.
He gestures for Hob to come over and Hob, clueless, wanders into the room and stands next to Dream, who takes him by the arm and tugs him just a little bit further to stand awkwardly close.
Dream announces their engagement and Hob stands there, shell shocked and feels his mouth moving against his will. That yeah, they are getting married. They are in love, sure. It isnât until they leave the office, following Dream back to his, that Hobâs brain seems to come back online.
âWhat just happened in there?â
Dream grouses, head down, already back to his work as if nothing happened. Like he didnât just use Hob as a pawn in his scheme to get around his denied visa application.
âThey were going to make Morningstar editor-in-chief.â Is all Dream says, disdain dripping from every word. He still hasnât looked up.
Hob stands there, still as a statue. His head is swimming with words, with emotions. Anger, disbelief, betrayal⌠and a small tiny flicker of undeniable interest that he hastily stomps out.
He manages to put the pieces together rather quickly though, while Dream continues sifting through paperwork.
âThis is illegal,â Hob manages to croak out, brows furrowing.Â
âOh, please. The government looks for terrorists, not book publishers.â Dreamâs head is still down in his paperwork.
Hob blinks, taking a step up to Dreamâs desk. âI'm not marrying you.â
âSure you are.â Dream sets aside a stack of papers and finally gives Hob his attention. âBecause if you don't, your dreams of âtouching millions of lives with the written wordâ are dead.âÂ
Hobâs jaw drops. That was a line, corny as it was, that heâd used in the panel interview for this job. Three years ago.
----------------------
âWere you not in that room? I could get fined, Iâll go to jail over this. If you want me on this deal, you will promote me to editor.â
Without even glancing up from his phone, Dream scoffs.
âAbsolutely not.â
âWell then I guess youâre screwed. Buh-bye.â Hob turns with a flourish and has to bite back a grin at how Dream splutters behind him and grabs him by the arm.
âFineâ fine! Editor.â His face seems to go through the five stages of grief. He drops his hold on Hob.
âAnd Youâll publish my manuscript.â Hob throws in. In for a penny.
Dreamâs brows narrow and he shakes as if heâs physically controlling the urge to stamp his foot.
âSure. Iâll publish your hack manuscript.â
âGood.â Hob slips his hands in his pants pockets, staring at Dream, deciding on one last nail in the coffin.
âNow do it properly.â
Dream cocks an eyebrow. âDo what properly?â
âPropose. Like you mean it.â
Dreamâs entire body seizes up, but he manages not to let it show, distracting himself by slipping his phone in the pocket of his expensive slacks and clasping his hands in front of him.
âWill you marry me?â
âNo.â Hob, the arrogant bastard, is visibly biting back a smirk. âSay it like you mean it.â
Dream takes a long, steadying breath through his nose.
âHob Gadling. Will youââ
âAnd get on your knees.â
Dream absolutely refuses to decipher the thrill that shoots through his body at Hobâs command. Instead he keeps his mask of irritation and indifference on as he scans the crowd around them. They are still outside the courthouse, and the concrete sidewalk is going to potentially tear Dreamâs Hugo Boss black wool pants.
So he carefully lowers himself, scowling as the smirk on Hobâs face only widens as Dream slowly settles onto the ground.
Once heâs as comfortable as Dreamâs going to get, he clears his throat.
âHob Gadling,â he glares at his subordinate from under his lashes. âWill you fucking marry me?â
Hob curls his lips in mock consideration, looking up past Dreamâs head. He rocks back on his heels and nods with a forlorn sigh.
âOkay.â He still hasnât met Dreamâs gaze. âCould've done without the sarcasm but it will do. See you at the airport tomorrow.âÂ
And turns and walks away, leaving Dream to fend for himself on the ground.
#dreamling#hob x dream#the sandman#my writing#i guess this is my niche now?#transcribing romcoms into dreamling fodder lol#i cant stop thinking about that *chefs kiss* perfect line on the airplane#when Dream asks Hob what he's allergic to. as a test.#and Hob confidently responds with 'tree nuts. and the whole spectrum of human emotion.'#or Dream cornering Hob at his family's home and getting in his face at how irritated he is by the taunting and teasing and that#Hob needs to step it up#and Hob. sly as ever. throws back: 'oh. thats no problem for me. i can be the doting. sweet. smitten fiance. but it's /you/...#... that needs to be convincing.'#and then he idk offers them to practice kissing in private and Dream is so mortified by the prospect but also.#.. definitely a little (a lot) interested#okay im done lol#the proposal au

Finally someone in office calling out international surrogacy for being a new form of human trafficking.
By Joshua Solano Nov 02, 2024, 4:13 am
THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) is sounding the alarm over the increase in human trafficking cases involving women recruited for illegal surrogacy abroad, following the repatriation of seven victims on October 23, 2024.
These women, aged 20 to 30, were recruited to work as surrogate mothers for unknown clients abroad, the BI said in a press release on Saturday, November 2, 2024.
Merriam-Webster defines a surrogate mother as a "woman who becomes pregnant by artificial insemination or by implantation of a fertilized egg created by in vitro fertilization for the purpose of carrying the fetus to term for another person or persons."
The BI said three of the victims left the country under the guise of visiting relatives but fell victim to deceptive promises of surrogacy. The remaining four had no records and likely exited through unauthorized means, the BI added.
BI Commissioner Joel Anthony Viado said investigations reveal a scheme where traffickers recruit online, then arrange complex travel through multiple borders to avoid detection.
âThe Philippines is being targeted by traffickers who lure women with surrogacy offers. We urge Filipinos to avoid these offers, as surrogacy abroad often carries serious legal risks,â Viado said.
In October, 20 Filipino women were rescued by authorities after reportedly being trafficked to become surrogate mothers. Of the 20 women, 13 were pregnant through artificial means.
The pregnant women were supposed to be transferred to another country where they would give birth. The seven others were deported by the Cambodian government over immigration law violations. BI officers also intercepted a 37-year-old woman recruited for surrogacy and headed to Georgia on October 15.
Senator Risa Hontiveros, who chairs the Senate Committee on Women, Children, Family Relations and Gender Equality, has earlier sought the conduct of a congressional inquiry into this "new form" of a human trafficking scheme victimizing Filipino women. (JGS/SunStar Philippines)

@rokhal okay so you see heres the problem. You asked too many good questions so I opened a google doc to answer them and then things just got going and then I ended up with an entire summary of the story I have so far.
ALSO thank you @moosemonstrous for helping me puzzle through my fugnking ramblings
Also it is IMPORTANT that you know I had this song on repeat the entire time I was plotting my nefarious schemes
OKAY SO. Iâm thinking Robbie is some sort of specialized stealth unit. He was originally designed for high level infiltration but was repurposed by the human resistance in the future. He has skin with a metal endoskeleton just like the usual terminators but he ALSO has those nanobots that allow him to heal at the same pace as a normal human. They also would help with repairing any damage to internal systems like wiring. They could also be what repurposes food to grow his metal endoskeleton. Iâm debating on whether he can manually speed that up for an accelerated healing process because that would require a level of control over his machinery that Iâm not sure it would make sense for him to have right after figuring out heâs a machine. Maybe with some practice he could do it. OHHHHH OR IF HES IN SOME SORT OF âEMERGENCY DEFENSEâ MODE IT ACCELERATES AUTOMATICALLY THAT COULD BE FUN!!!Â
Also I really like the idea of him being able to heal with those nanobots but like. SPECIFICALLY for Gabe. Theyâre programmed to create synthetic flesh and skin but only for certain genomes. His and Gabes are similar enough that they can help repair tissue if heâs injured. Like being a blood donor for matching blood types.
STORY WISE HEREâS WHAT IM THINKING: Eli still exists in this universe and heâs still a massive shithead. Still pushes Mama Reyes down a flight of stairs while pregnant with Gabe (their soon to be first child), still a serial killer and still involved with the mob. But shortly after Gabe is born, Eli is caught and sentenced to prison for life. The mob figures he told his brotherâs family so that makes them a liability. They kill Alberto and Julianna, but leave Gabe alone in his crib. This happens when heâs about 6 months old.
While this is happening, Robbie is time traveled into the back yard of their house. He goes inside and puts on whatever clothes he can find. When police show up to check after getting a noise complaint from the neighbors, they find what looks to be a 5 year old boy soothing a crying baby and a massive burned hole in the backyard they think is just some sort of already detonated explosive. Everyone just assumes this kid is his brother and they try to get him out of the house without letting him see his dead âparentsâ. He doesn't talk much but does answer that his name is Robbie when asked.Â
Things get REALLY weird when they go to the police station and find⌠absolutely nothing about him. No birth certificate, no social security number, no history of schooling, not even their notoriously nosy neighbors know anything about him. The Reyesâs had not marked down a dependent on their tax forms until Gabe. Even when they look at the possibility of him being an undocumented immigrant; NOTHING. Half the guys think heâs an illegal alien that slipped through the cracks of.. EVERY country and the other half think heâs an ACTUAL alien For all intents and purposes the kid in front of them does not exist. Eli isnât much help when asked, he just assumes âthat bitch of his turned him against me didnât even tell me that I had a nephew already here god DAMN herâ.Â
They quickly start questioning whether they're actually brothers, but genetic tests determine that they are. That, and the absolute INSISTENCE of the boy that âThis is my brother. I HAVE to keep him safeâ.
So they do what just about anyone might do. Decide this weird magically appearing child is someone elseâs problem, and put them into foster care. From there the story stays about the same for a while. They know Eli exists but they honestly couldn't give less of a shit about him. That guy is never getting out on parole lmao. Robbie catches up with social development and for the most part fits in pretty good (he never gets sick. Like ever. Never gets so injured he has to go to the doctor for emergencies. Just regular checkups, which he passes through with a few raised eyebrows but still good). Heâs still a GENIUS with cars and works at Canelos. He understands them in a way that usually takes years of experience way beyond what Robbie has. Things are going.. Not GREAT but theyâre okay. And then AMADEUS FUCKIGN SHOWS UP.
Skynet of the future has sent back a Terminator to kill Gabe. No one is really sure WHY but they figure if skynet is going to such lengths to kill this kid then he must be worth protecting. So the human resistance sends back Amadeus to find Gabe and keep him safe from this Terminator.Â
He steals some clothes, a gun and a car(not like hes really planning on settling down here anyway who cares about a few broken laws)Â shows up at the Reyes residence, meets Gabe.. and basically all his plans blow up. This is absolutely NOT the type of person he was expecting and he sure as shit doesn't want to go anywhere with this random stranger. So naturally he kidnaps Gabe and starts getting the fuck out of the city (while also starting work on an electromagnetic field reader that he thinks can help detect terminators).
Robbie shows up back home after grocery shopping and uhhhhh Gabes NOT THERE theres BROKEN SHIT IN HIS HOUSE and the neighbors keep talking about a STOLEN CAR and some maniac who stole from a GUN SHOP. So he does the only reasonable thing he can think of, checks Life 360 hoping that Gabe still has his phone on him (he does) gets into his car and starts hunting them down. Between his crazy driving skills and freakish persistence, Amadeus can only conclude that Robbie is the terminator sent to kill Gabe.
When Robbie finally heads them off at an abandoned warehouse Amadeus tries to pull Gabe along with him and run away. But when Robbie steps out of his car, Gabe recognizes him and starts trying to get there. Amadeus is panicked, pointing his gun at Robbie to try and keep him away and, at this point, VERY confused. Because heâs pulled out his EMF reader and is getting some absolutely WACK readings off Robbie but hes also very much so being deterred by the gun (terminators couldnt gibe two shits about guns thlse metal fuckheads eat bullets for breakfast). The readings shortly get even more wack when the ACTUAL Terminator sent to kill Gabe shows up. Amadeus fires a couple of shots into the Terminator to confirm what he already knew (subsequently freaking both Robbie and Gabe out sufficiently enough to confirm that at least Amadeus isnât entirely crazy). They pile into the Reyes-mobile and peel off shortly before the terminator gets into Amadeusâ abandoned stolen car and starts going after them.
Robbie is doing his best to ask what the FUCK is actually going on while getting away but Amadeus is still double checking his EMF readings because Robbie is DEFINETLY not human but also clearly isnât here to kill Gabe. Quickly puts two and two together that for SOME reason SOMEhow Robbie is here to PROTECT Gabe from this other Terminator. Amadeus is. A little distracted because of this and keeps asking Robbie about his âProgrammingâ (sort of a âWOW your programming must be good you REALLY think heâs your brother and thats WHY you have to protect him!â âWHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT WHO WAS THAT GUY HOW DID HE KEEP WALKING AFTER YOU SHOT HIMâ âIt was a terminator keep up. Hey did you even TRY to call the police or did you just start coming after me because you knew it would be faster? Cause damnnnnn again. PROGRAMMING!â)
After finally losing the terminator thatâs been on their tail, they find the police are not too happy about their reckless driving, arrest them and take them to the station to keep in a holding cell. While Robbie is in said holding cell with Amadeus (Gabe is presently being asked questions) thereâs a police officer who recognizes him as that weird little kid who just appeared out of nowhere.
âYeah we had absolutely NOTHING on you. It was like you hadn't existed until the day we found you!â So Robbie has to sit and listen to this while Amadeus is just confirming in his head what he already figured out. Being stuck in that cell trying to stay in denial with the guy whose favorite thing to say in the world is âI Told You Soâ is not great. (un)Fortunately this is when the actual terminator shows up again.
This time, being faced with both the Terminator AND police trying to stop him from leaving, Robbies defense systems activate. He goes absolutely HAM on everyone in his way. Heâs extremely default Terminator-like (Emotionless, distant, empty, quiet) in this state because all of his infiltration protocols have been halted. He even manages to fight off the other terminator decently well, but not before getting blasted in the arm with a shotgun shell. It goes deep enough that his metal endoskeleton is revealed. I also had this idea of like. His arm getting caught in something and he just stares at whoever trapped it there. Looks them dead in the eyes as he degloves his entire hand then beats the shit out of whoever got in his way with his metal fist. He stays in this state until they steal ANOTHER car, and he finally snaps out of it. And sees his hands covered in blood. And glimmers of his metal skeleton. And his brother looking at him in fear.
AND THATS WHAT IVE GOT RN I CAN'T WRITE LIKE YALL CAN I DON'T HAVE THE PATIENCE FOR IT I HAVE TO GET ALL OF THIS OUT LIKE RIGHT NOW SO YEAH UHHHHHHH ENJOY

Weaponizing violence. With alarming regularity, the nation continues to be subjected to spates of violence that terrorizes the public, destabilizes the countryâs ecosystem, and gives the government greater justifications to crack down, lock down, and institute even more authoritarian policies for the so-called sake of national security without many objections from the citizenry.
Weaponizing surveillance, pre-crime and pre-thought campaigns. Surveillance, digital stalking and the data mining of the American people add up to a society in which thereâs little room for indiscretions, imperfections, or acts of independence. When the government sees all and knows all and has an abundance of laws to render even the most seemingly upstanding citizen a criminal and lawbreaker, then the old adage that youâve got nothing to worry about if youâve got nothing to hide no longer applies. Add pre-crime programs into the mix with government agencies and corporations working in tandem to determine who is a potential danger and spin a sticky spider-web of threat assessments, behavioral sensing warnings, flagged âwords,â and âsuspiciousâ activity reports using automated eyes and ears, social media, behavior sensing software, and citizen spies, and you having the makings for a perfect dystopian nightmare. The governmentâs war on crime has now veered into the realm of social media and technological entrapment, with government agents adopting fake social media identities and AI-created profile pictures in order to surveil, target and capture potential suspects.
Weaponizing digital currencies, social media scores and censorship. Tech giants, working with the government, have been meting out their own version of social justice by way of digital tyranny and corporate censorship, muzzling whomever they want, whenever they want, on whatever pretext they want in the absence of any real due process, review or appeal. Unfortunately, digital censorship is just the beginning. Digital currencies (which can be used as âa tool for government surveillance of citizens and control over their financial transactionsâ), combined with social media scores and surveillance capitalism create a litmus test to determine who is worthy enough to be part of society and punish individuals for moral lapses and social transgressions (and reward them for adhering to government-sanctioned behavior). In China, millions of individuals and businesses, blacklisted as âunworthyâ based on social media credit scores that grade them based on whether they are âgoodâ citizens, have been banned from accessing financial markets, buying real estate or travelling by air or train.
Weaponizing compliance. Even the most well-intentioned government law or program can beâand has beenâperverted, corrupted and used to advance illegitimate purposes once profit and power are added to the equation. The war on terror, the war on drugs, the war on COVID-19, the war on illegal immigration, asset forfeiture schemes, road safety schemes, school safety schemes, eminent domain: all of these programs started out as legitimate responses to pressing concerns and have since become weapons of compliance and control in the police stateâs hands.
Weaponizing entertainment. For the past century, the Department of Defenseâs Entertainment Media Office has provided Hollywood with equipment, personnel and technical expertise at taxpayer expense. In exchange, the military industrial complex has gotten a starring role in such blockbusters as Top Gun and its rebooted sequel Top Gun: Maverick, which translates to free advertising for the war hawks, recruitment of foot soldiers for the military empire, patriotic fervor by the taxpayers who have to foot the bill for the nationâs endless wars, and Hollywood visionaries working to churn out dystopian thrillers that make the war machine appear relevant, heroic and necessary. As Elmer Davis, a CBS broadcaster who was appointed the head of the Office of War Information, observed, âThe easiest way to inject a propaganda idea into most peopleâs minds is to let it go through the medium of an entertainment picture when they do not realize that they are being propagandized.â
Weaponizing behavioral science and nudging. Apart from the overt dangers posed by a government that feels justified and empowered to spy on its people and use its ever-expanding arsenal of weapons and technology to monitor and control them, thereâs also the covert dangers associated with a government empowered to use these same technologies to influence behaviors en masse and control the populace. In fact, it was President Obama who issued an executive order directing federal agencies to use âbehavioral scienceâ methods to minimize bureaucracy and influence the way people respond to government programs. Itâs a short hop, skip and a jump from a behavioral program that tries to influence how people respond to paperwork to a government program that tries to shape the publicâs views about other, more consequential matters. Thus, increasingly, governments around the worldâincluding in the United Statesâare relying on ânudge unitsâ to steer citizens in the direction the powers-that-be want them to go, while preserving the appearance of free will.
Weaponizing desensitization campaigns aimed at lulling us into a false sense of security. The events of recent yearsâthe invasive surveillance, the extremism reports, the civil unrest, the protests, the shootings, the bombings, the military exercises and active shooter drills, the lockdowns, the color-coded alerts and threat assessments, the fusion centers, the transformation of local police into extensions of the military, the distribution of military equipment and weapons to local police forces, the government databases containing the names of dissidents and potential troublemakersâhave conspired to acclimate the populace to accept a police state willingly, even gratefully.
Weaponizing fear and paranoia. The language of fear is spoken effectively by politicians on both sides of the aisle, shouted by media pundits from their cable TV pulpits, marketed by corporations, and codified into bureaucratic laws that do little to make our lives safer or more secure. Fear, as history shows, is the method most often used by politicians to increase the power of government and control a populace, dividing the people into factions, and persuading them to see each other as the enemy. This Machiavellian scheme has so ensnared the nation that few Americans even realize they are being manipulated into adopting an âusâ against âthemâ mindset. Instead, fueled with fear and loathing for phantom opponents, they agree to pour millions of dollars and resources into political elections, militarized police, spy technology and endless wars, hoping for a guarantee of safety that never comes. All the while, those in powerâbought and paid for by lobbyists and corporationsâmove their costly agendas forward, and âwe the suckersâ get saddled with the tax bills and subjected to pat downs, police raids and round-the-clock surveillance.
Weaponizing genetics. Not only does fear grease the wheels of the transition to fascism by cultivating fearful, controlled, pacified, cowed citizens, but it also embeds itself in our very DNA so that we pass on our fear and compliance to our offspring. Itâs called epigenetic inheritance, the transmission through DNA of traumatic experiences. For example, neuroscientists observed that fear can travel through generations of mice DNA. As The Washington Post reports, âStudies on humans suggest that children and grandchildren may have felt the epigenetic impact of such traumatic events such as famine, the Holocaust and the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.â
Weaponizing the future. With greater frequency, the government has been issuing warnings about the dire need to prepare for the dystopian future that awaits us. For instance, the Pentagon training video, âMegacities: Urban Future, the Emerging Complexity,â predicts that by 2030 (coincidentally, the same year that society begins to achieve singularity with the metaverse) the military would be called on to use armed forces to solve future domestic political and social problems. What theyâre really talking about is martial law, packaged as a well-meaning and overriding concern for the nationâs security. The chilling five-minute training video paints an ominous picture of the future bedeviled by âcriminal networks,â âsubstandard infrastructure,â âreligious and ethnic tensions,â âimpoverishment, slums,â âopen landfills, over-burdened sewers,â a âgrowing mass of unemployed,â and an urban landscape in which the prosperous economic elite must be protected from the impoverishment of the have nots. âWe the peopleâ are the have-nots.
The end goal of these mind control campaignsâpackaged in the guise of the greater goodâis to see how far the American people will allow the government to go in re-shaping the country in the image of a totalitarian police state.
