"I'll never admit it, You Fucking Lunatic."
Omniscient Readers Viewpoint
Pairings; Yoo Joonghyuk × Top!M!Reader
s.p: yoo joonghyuk was a known man for jealousy, atleast for you, and you find that one of the many things you find disgusting about him. Always so rude... so— dislikeable. You were a man that usually hates flings that cling onto you like some kind of leech. Knowing damn well it was just a one night thing. But yoo joonghyuk. I guess, a main character has its perks. Especially on charisma. That you even find his jealousy quite endearing.
On recent ocassions, you'll find a survivor you somehow like. then ofcourse yoo joonghyuk will "hate" that person as the same level as you. Becoming more irritable at his unpredictable behaviour, the usual glaring spiraled into a fight, and to a suprising turn of events.
sucks to know dokja coudnt stop this arguement from happening.
Warning: reader implied same height, reader and yjh implied as enemies/rivals , hate sex, secret admiration, degradation, no dom/sub roles (???) You both go feral. No spoilers for novel / anything above the webtoon chapters ^^ so everyone can enjoy, also dokja always breaks the fight between you two, so it doesnt end up as a half assed battle to the constellations. Tried to proofread 🤞
Tags: Choking, Ass grabbing, Thigh gripping, lots of gripping and biting, heavy cussing/degradation , No protection, sharp teeth, one shot. No plot/what plot? Slight ooc bc people go crazy when their ab to cum LMAOO
Dni: minors under the age of 16 do not request, minors under 14 in general DNI
Notes: hope its up to your liking, crack summary is that you both fuck with seething anger bcs yjhs fuckbuddy payed attention to smone else, dont know how to explain it but jealousy is (obviously) involved
"Hm, ofcourse." You smiled. As the person you recently saved hugged closer, much more comfortable than they were earlier. shivering, well, you though to yourself. At that small stature, even shorter than han sooyoung, you even doubt if they'll survive if it wasnt for you. "Thank you, mister." Said brunette.
as they gripped onto the oversized cloth you've given them, you saw yoo joonghyuks mocking stare from a seat over. You scoffed, glaring back at him. Hes doing this stupid shit again, where he starts something for no reason. And it somehow always you that he argues with. With dokja and the others, he seems cold. But christ when it comes to you even coming a step closer— he always has something to say, As if you just didnt fuck his brains out a month ago.
the campfire crackled, as the leaves rustled at the mightnight air. Dokja discussed with others on how they should move forward, and make haste. the scenarios condition doesnt look good, to add to that, you saving a random and basic person off the streets was something that added up to yoo joonghyuks hatred.
as the others talked from a distance over, it was only you, yoo joonghyuk, and the survivor. Awkwardly quiet except from the glaring you two were doing for the past hour. You sighed, feeling annoyed. you brung the girl closer with just one hand, as the woman flinched, a blush slowly spread around her frozen face. "ah, i think you need to rest. " you chuckled, smiling. "How about you go in that tent? Ill accompany you."
As both of you stood up, the tension was sliced in half. you joonghyuk scoffs and averts his glare another way. Whats with his deal? A single person woudnt drain all the materials. So why the hell is he angrier than usual? As you let the small woman go into the spare tent, you smiled and bid her goodnight.
"y/n." Joonghyuk blankly calls your name, standing right behind you. With his arms crossed. You glanced from behind, smiling fakely. "What is it?"
"Why bring her here?" As you think for a moment, your fingers curl as you hum. "I dont know, i just wanted to?" You laugh, smirking at him. "Is it bad for me to junghyuk-ah?"
As yoo joonghyuks glared sharpened, he let his fist curl around the collar of your shirt. "you know the scenarios will get harder as we progress. Adding another deadweight such as yourself will make nothing better." He hissed, yet you arched a brow, holding his wrist.
"Deadweight?" I laughed. "I saved your ass multiple times with Dokja hyung."
"Or, are you just jealous i didnt comfort and kiss you in the damned cheek?" You laughed, your nails grazing onto his skin as you felt his glare dig daggers into your face. The leaves rustled as the fire crackled a Bright glow infront of you. No one near in sight other than the both of your presences.
"Come with me." Yoo joonghyuk exclaims, grabbing you by the forearm.
.
.
.
"Aw... joonghyuk-ah."
You grinned, biting your lip. his palm gripped tight onto your back, harsh enough to leave red swelling scratches. "Hah, you dragged me here so i can just fuck you? Were you jealous?" You teased. "You really are one of a kind... come on now, you know i wont replace you." Laughing, you felt him grit his teeth, Face flushed as your hips pounded onto his.
"Shut the fuck up y/n." He muttered. His voice hitched upwards as your dick hitted the hilt of his hole, making his muscles flex around your shaft, his head was a mess. You were just as ridiculous as what the rumours say. Always in some pretty girl or boys bed one occasion or another. And what made yoo joonghyuk even more pissed, is that you treated him nothing like a toy. He felt even more irritated of himself that he chased you around no matter the situation, like some kicked puppy.
Yoo joonghyuk coudnt help but relish in the feeling of your thick cock pounding into his ass. His rigged muscles flexing, Shuddering. Shivering at every movement. He gritted his teeth, his nails digging marks onto your back as you held your shirt up high by your teeth, grinning at the sight before you. Yoo joonghyuk shut his eyes tightly, letting out a broken moan with a cracked voice.
You groaned at the sound, feeling him tighten even more around you as he pushed his lips back to ravish yours. Biting hard enough to draw blood, your lips tainted with bruises.
He was particualarly rougher than usual. and more eager to please. His cock bouncing with need at every thrust, his legs wrapped around your waist, enough to forcefully pull you down to his chiseled body. "Fuck...." he murmured, underneath his breath. Why doesnt this feel enough?
And suddenly, with a push, you grabbed yoo joonghyuks neck. Your palm pressing him down on the soft mattress. "fucking stupid slut. All you do is be a little bitch all day huh?" You cursed, your fingers pressing down his airway. — The bed creaking with the force of your thrusts, Yoo joonghyuk can finally feel like hes enjoying this. He needed your attention. does he hate to admit it,— He will always beg for it. And he doesnt want some random fucking stranger taking it away from him.
He moaned, his hand reaching up to grip your hair, and his other to wrap around your forearm. Out of breath, gasping for air with a broken voice. "Hah? Ah... hah... yeah thats it yoo joonghyuk ah." You smirked. Your dick making a dent even onto his muscled torso. His cock dripping streams of precum. "Shut..shut.. ahh.. shut the fuckkk.. up.." yoo joonghyuk gasped for air. "And just keep.. fucking meee!" He moaned out brokenly. His fingers gripping onto your hair as your scalp ached.
His head was an utter mess at this point, words slipping out of his mouth that even he would rather end his own life if he would to see this sober. Or lets say, a post-orgasam bliss.
After minutes and minutes of skin slapping against skin, and multiple words of degradation. One particular thrust seemed to send him over the edge. You groaned, a half moan as you buried your dick deep into his quivering ass. Filling him to the brim with your cum. He threw his head back. Following soon after. Moaning as he clenched around your shaft, his body shuddering as he held onto your head and back. His own dick spurting out long ropes of come.
It felt amazing, his legs unable to pick which way he should cling onto you. The heel of his foot seemingly digging onto your back. Your body littered with bruises and bites, blood and sweet bodily fluids dripped down your torso. You breathed out, your hips twitching as you came hard and deep. Taking a long moment to catch your breath.
"y/n." Yoo joonghyuk groaned your name. Low and husky as he tried to recover. Your dick awkwardky still in his ass.
"....Who the fuck told you to stop?"

okay so. drdt ep 8 spoilers under the cut, also please check the tags for tws - a lot of the motives are quite sensitive so please beware!!
last night after the ep, my friend (hi @sentinel-kinjo) and i tried to see if we could connect the motives to the characters. ill explain the reasoning for down below. those that don't have a character next to them means i don't have enough info to be able to pinpoint on who that motive belongs to, even using process of elimination
ace - your body is falling apart but you still refuse to eat
there is a lot of evidence to support this. ace has a low bmi, didn't eat the cake in chapter 1 and has been said to like low-calorie foods in QnAs. ive seen some people throw around arturo due to his body image standards, but he doesn't seem to care much about himself specifically appealing to beauty standards, and was also one of the people who ate the cake in chapter 1.
??? - ever since you kissed her, you were afraid your sexuality would ruin your friendships
im not sure about this one at all- but using process of elimination, and the context, it is definitely one of the girls. the ones i didn't put anywhere are min, hu and eden, so it's probably one of them? i honestly don't really have any basis for pin pointing any of them as this one. maybe we should all collectively comb over ch1 to see who the biggest girl kisser is
j and arei's motives are canon, so i won't go over those
xander - you're constantly blaming yourself for the death of your parents and siblings, it doesn't matter that it's not your fault, just that you didn't go with them
pretty self explanatory, honestly.. we have many examples in the story of xander suffering from survivors guilt. his secret quote also speaks of survivors guilt. i feel like this is the only one that could fit him.
whit - your mother is dead, you always omit that truth
whit speaks highly of his mother, even having dyed his hair because of her. he does omit the truth also when trying to guess what his secret is during ch2, he doesn't speak about his mother being dead at all. his secret quote is also "we tend to idolize the dead" which goes hand in hand with both his motive and the very strong admiration he has for his mom.
charles' is canon, so skip
veronika - you only took on your talent to distract yourself for the incessant need to harm yourself for fun
i won't speak very much on this one, but she fits. the thing she dislikes the most is boredom. she seeks thrill in horror and dark media. it's possible that her talent has helped her heal from these tendencies.
david - you were quite the hopeless child. dying once wasn't enough, so you attempted suicide three times.
ive seen many different guesses on this one, but david is honestly the only one that i feel works completely. his secret is "i hate you, i hate you, i hate you, i wish you'd just die." i hate you is notably repeated three times. this might seem like a reach but i think its also worth noting that when David mentioned that his secret was a family history about depression, nobody corrected him. i feel like if he had lied, or if his secret was something completely disconnected from said depression, the person who had his motive would've stood up and called out his bullshit. but three suicide attempts and depression are not unrelated. i think he was vague about the details of his depression due to his own discomfort talking about these subjects.
rose and nico are canon, so skip
teruko - how could i even select what secret to be your motive? just about everything you've done in your life is worth killing for. the killing game is your fault.
pretty self explanatory. teruko herself says she has too many secrets and doesn't know what they could possibly use against her. don't think anything but this fits
so the remaining ones are levi, arturo, hu, eden, and min. i can't seem to pinpoint these three anywhere due to lack of info... if you guys have any guesses pls let me know :> i love theorizing!!
#drdt#danganronpa: despair time#danganronpa despair time#drdt spoilers#drdt episode 8 spoilers#tw suicide mention#tw sui attempt#tw eating issues#tw sh mention#these motives are so much heavier than I thought theyd be wtf#david chiem#ace markey#veronika grebenshchikova#xander matthews#teruko tawaki#only tagging those i analyzed in depth#analysis#theory

Love of my life, could you write for me some beautiful geraskier? There's a prompt; the story is taking place first few days after Jaskier meet Geralt and decided to stick with him. Geralt wasn't very found of it and was more annoyed when he had to save the bard from monster (Jaskier probably is being more dramatic about it then he should be) and/or some people that didn't like the preformet and they happened to be more violent then others. Jaskier is sorry about those actions of course, but Geralt is still pissed of until Geralt gets into trouble (u chose how dangerous ❤️) and now it's Jaskier role to save him (spoiler; they'll be fine at the end) and from then Geralt isn't that sceptical about the bard.
Sorry for any language errors. Have a great day!
Hello darling! I know its been like... thirty thousand years since you sent me this prompt so... sorry for the wait? I hope it lives up to expectations if you didn’t completely forget you sent it 😅😅😅
-
Geralt sighed as Jaskier sent another wink toward the pretty barmaid. The pretty barmaid that was very obviously married to the rather large man sitting at the bar. Staring angrily at Jaskier.
The pair had been travelling together for about a week at this point, Jaskier proving to be a rather persistent type of mold that Geralt just couldn’t quite manage to get rid of. Geralt’s fondness for his new travelling companion was rather limited. The man was useful on occasion but really it was starting to seem like he was far more trouble than he was worth.
Jaskier strummed his lute one last time, sending another provocative wink in the direction of the barmaid. Just as he swung his lute strap over his head and bent down to place the instrument in its case, the large man from the bar stood up, making his was over to Jaskier, lumbering intimidatingly.
Sighing, Geralt stood from his seat. Really, one of these days, he would need to let Jaskier get his ass beat to a pulp. Maybe that would teach him to be more careful in choosing his bedmates. Or at least a bit more discreet about it.
Geralt felt rage run through him as the man approached Jaskier from behind and lifted his arm, ready to strike. Geralt reached out and grabbed the man’s arm, spinning him around, “Would you really hit a man with his back turned?” he growled out. The man paled visibly and stepped back. He was probably used to being the largest man in the room, but not with Geralt there. He shook his head, not uttering a word, and made his way back over to the bar, his head down. The barmaid was blushing a bright shade of red.
Geralt turned to look back as Jaskier who was staring at him in shock, “Thank you! I didn’t even hear him come up behind me. Surely, he couldn’t have been that offended by my set. Everyone else appreciated it!”
Geralt grabbed Jaskier by the upper arm, ushering the bard up the stairs, “Geralt? Geralt! What is going on?”
Geralt growled, “Shut up. He was trying to hit you because you were winking at his wife.”
“His wife?”
“The barmaid.”
Jaskier was quiet for a beat, “Ohhh… I didn’t realize that was her husband.”
“But you knew she was married.”
“Well, sure. But it wasn’t a happy marriage by any means so if I could offer her a night of ple-”
Geralt shoved Jaskier through the door to their shared room, “Go to sleep. At least you don’t tend to cause fights with your snores.”
-
“Okay, no, I’m not listening to this anymore.”
Geralt pressed a hand to his temple, already feeling the headache beginning. He had told the bard to remain quiet and not interrupt his negotiations. This particular alderman was known to shortchange him, always arguing that Geralt didn’t actually do what he said or claiming that it wasn’t worth the price Geralt was demanding. The price that he and Geralt had agreed upon prior to Geralt taking the contract. And so, he hadn’t wanted Jaskier getting in the way and making things worse.
“Jaskier,” He said sharply, but the bard in question simply waved one hand dismissively, not even looking at Geralt.
“Alderman, you agreed upon a price. Pay the price.” He placed his hands on his hips, staring the alderman down haughtily.
The man sputtered, “I’ll not have you interfering with my business, bard.”
“Oh, well in that case, I’ll keep my comments to myself for now and instead relay them to the headmaster when I next pass through Oxenfurt.”
The man stared at Jaskier coldly, “And what would that matter to me?”
Jaskier shook his head, shrugging, “Nothing, I don’t suppose. I’m sure that a well-respected professor who graduated with honors and is a personal friend with the headmaster speaking ill of an alderman certainly wouldn’t affect that particular towns chances for hosting the upcoming bardic event.”
The man paled slightly, “And how would you know if I were trying to host that?”
“Well, I have won that particular competition that last five years so I suppose it would make some sense that they would ask my opinion. I hear that the towns that host it often see a great increase in profits after. It must be a great boon to the town. It would be a shame if the town were to lose that because their alderman was a greedy bastard who went back on his word.”
The alderman grunted, yanking a bag of coin out of his desk and throwing it angrily at the bard, “There. Now leave, and don’t you dare speak word of this to anyone at Oxenfurt.”
Jaskier weighed the bag thoughtfully, the coins inside clinking, “No worries, I won’t mention what a stingy bastard you are. Although I will tell them about the rest of my time here. Come along, Geralt.” Jaskier smiled a rather sinister grin at the alderman before turning on his heel and walking out triumphantly.
-
Back in their room, Geralt counted out the coins carefully, finding 50 more ducats than he had asked for. He looked up at Jaskier curiously, “Why did you do that?”
Jaskier looked up at Geralt, blinking slowly as if it took him a moment to understand what Geralt was talking about, “He was being difficult, and I had a way to speed things along.”
“I didn’t need your help,” Geralt grunted.
“Of course you didn’t. But I gave it anyway.”
Geralt frowned, he didn’t understand the bard sometimes. Ever, really. He just gave freely, help and kindness just flung about, wherever he could give it. It wasn’t something Geralt was used to.
“Why?” Geralt finally asked, his eyes meeting Jaskier’s own.
Jaskier shrugged, “You’ve been good to me, Geralt. Let me do you kindness in return.”
Geralt couldn’t imagine Jaskier ever being anything but kind. Although… “Did you really mean it when you told the alderman you could ruin his chances at hosting the competition?”
Jaskier hummed, a satisfied smirk on his face, “I did. And, seeing as I don’t have anything nice to say about this shit hole, I can guarantee he won’t be happy when the decision is announced.”
Geralt let out a surprised chuckle, it seemed that the bard really did have teeth.

The first time Miya Atsumu sees you is Spring on the first year of college.
It had been a bad day for him, girls kept crowding him and annoying him about mundane things, even going so far as interrupting his practice at the gym. If Aran hadn’t stopped him, he’d have yelled at them at that moment for interrupting him.
As he was on his way home, his eyes caught your lone figure standing there with a red bull and a cup of cold brew on each of your hands whilst a phone was clipped between your ear and shoulder, your brows were furrowed together as if you were having trouble explaining something.
You looked like every college student out there. Your hair was in a tight ponytail, your clothes seemed to be in a bit of a disheveled state, and you looked like you hadn’t slept in days. The next action you did surprised him, you had mixed your coffee with the red bull and just drank it straight from the cup.
The blonde was expecting a palpitation to happen any moment now but you remained there, unfazed by it all and still talking on the phone with your brows furrowed.
He didn’t even notice that he was openly staring at you until one of his teammates had approached him and asked him why he was just standing there, “Jus’ saw something weird.” He muttered, returning his gaze to where you stood but it seemed like you were gone then.
The first time that he actually talked to you was because he had accidentally did his service too hard and had hit you square on the stomach.
He feels his shoulder tense as you weakly let out that you were fine and that you just needed to talk to a member name Shion Inunaki for a project, you seemed to ignore him and what he did earlier, like you paid no mind to his presence.
Next thing he knows, he sees you around a lot on campus yet just like the first time he sees you and the first time he talks to you, you barely looked his way.
The days past quickly and it’s already the second half of the school year, he sees that your classmates in one of his minor classes and that you sit in front of him yet he feels like a fuckin’ scrub around you. You barely glance his way and when he tries to initiate a conversation, your words are curt and concise.
He asks his twin one night about it.
The only reply he got was, “You ain’t the center of the world, ‘sumu. People sometimes jus’ don’t give a shit about ya, stop thinking your some big shot.”
He curses his twin and thus begins a two minute long argument between them as usual but as he’s about to end the call in sheer frustration and annoyance, his twin says something that shuts him up immediately, “Don’t tell me you got a lil’ crush over a girl who gives zero fucks about ya.”
Silence.
“No fuckin’ way, Tsumu.” His twin choked on the other line, “Among all the people in that huge uni?- wheeze-You ended up liking one who barely knows your existence?’
“Shut up.”
“I gotta call Aran for that, fuckin’ masochist. This shit won’t end well.”
The blonde chunks his phone to the bed and groans out loud.
Surely it couldn’t be a crush, right?
Wrong.
Next thing he knows, it's already nearing the end of the second semester and he still craves for that attention from you. Aran feels like he’s crazy, saying how impossible it is to like someone who barely acknowledges his existence. Samu, on the other hand, reiterates that he probably just wanted you because you had this mysterious air and different attitude from the girls Atsumu met before. That and because he’s a masochist who loves hurting himself apparently.
Yet he shuts them down both because of the little opportunity created by his professor in the form of a project in pairs, you picked him much to his surprise, “...You're the only person I know here.” You simply replied.
When he hears those words, he cracks a lazy smirk, “We friends now or something?” he asked.
You clicked your tongue in reply, avoiding his gaze as you muttered, ‘I guess so.’
But after that little victory moment, you remained the same. He didn’t even get to see you outside class since you said that this project didn’t need meet-ups on the weekends or after class, the only thing he got was your number and even when he did try to strike a conversation through text, you gave very short responses.
“Stop simping over her, she probably got a boyfriend that’s why she ain’t lookin your way.” Osamu advised right after he confessed his worries.
Atsumu wishes he was wrong, he really does but he’s getting frustrated. So he attempts to heed Aran’s advice and tries to shake you off. He doesn’t seek you out in class anymore yet like always, you’re not even the least bit bothered by it. He feels queasy on how easy it is for you to be that way towards him but then again, it’s not like you cared about him in the first place.
Later that week, in the midst of his sulking, he’s at a frat party and he does his best to forget about you. There were a lot of beautiful women lining up for him and willing to give him all the attention he lacked from you yet when he’s making out with one of them and this close to getting laid in one of the quiet rooms upstairs, the door bursts open and there stands you, the girl he’s been trying to desperately ignore.
“O-Oh sorry… I-Wrong room...” Your voice that used to be void of emotion was now shaky and you seemed to be forcing yourself to speak. You didn’t seem to recognize him at all since it was dark but he knew that voice and that figure anywhere. Before he could say anything else though, you're out and about, closing the door behind you.
Just like that, Atsumu shoves the girl from his lap and hurriedly puts back his shirt on. He doesn’t care if the stranger was angry or if he was in a disheveled state, he just runs and follows you out.
“Hey! Y/N!” He calls out at the quiet street, out of breath.
You slowly turned to him and he feels his heart stop at your unfamiliar appearance, your mascara was a mess from your crying and you had scratches on your knees, indicating that you must’ve fallen down somewhere tonight. The volleyball player clears his throat and slowly approaches you, “Hey.” he softly says, taking out a handkerchief from his pocket to hand it to you.
You hesitantly take it and try to get rid of the mascara running down your face.
“Come on, Y/N.” He croons as he takes off his jacket to put it on you, ‘samu was right about one thing, he really couldn’t say no to you, “Let's take you home.”
It was that little moment that made Miya Atsumu’s stepping stone towards you.
Yet in the end, despite those endless times of him chasing you, you still chose to run further away from him instead.

Sapere Aude - Part 9
Book: The Royal Heir
Pairing: King Liam Rys x Queen Riley Brooks
All characters belong to Pixelberry.
Catch Up Here
Series Description: I developed a theory of what I think will happen in TRH Book 4, and I was encouraged by some very lovely people to turn my theory into a fic, so here it is. Basically, Riley is recruited to join the Via Imperii, this series will follow her as she joins them to try and bring them down from the inside, and all of the drama and bombshells she learns along the way. Sapere Aude is Latin for “dare to know” it seemed like an appropriate title.
Rating: PG-13 Adult language, allusions to smut (but nothing graphic), discussions of death, conspiracy, blackmail, and other adult themes.
Warning: The Royal Heir Book 3 Spoilers all over the place.
Word Count: 2,655
A/N: Before I dive in, a little bit of unpleasant business to address. As you may know, there is another writer that is also working on a Via Imperii themed fic. We had been working together to make sure our stories didn’t overlap to the point of plagiarism, sharing ideas and pre-reading each others work. That partnership was abruptly, and unbeknownst to me, put to a halt this week (3/28/21). She has not read this chapter, and I have not read any of hers past her chapter 9 (which I don’t think I ever saw the final version of, so let’s safely say chapter 8). I just wanted to put that out there in the universe, I don’t want any previous approvals or conversations to be implied or carried over into work I have not, and will not, see. No ill will, it is what it is, I just want to make sure that nobody is misrepresenting anyone’s involvement in anything.
HUGE shout out to my hype squad, @jessiembruno & @txemrn. It’s no secret that I haven’t been feeling to great about myself lately, and they’ve been so great about talking me through it and encouraging me to keep going.
As always, shout out to @twinkleallnight for my amazing, and updated, moodboard!
Tags: I think my tags actually got figured out, so tags are below, but not in the comments as I usually do. If you don’t get the tag, let me know (which is a weird thing to say, because you might not even be seeing this).
Riley stood at the stove, scrambling eggs, when she suddenly felt Liam’s arms wrap around her as he kissed her neck. “Good morning, love. You’re up early.” He said in between kisses.
“Hey you.” She shut off the burner and turned in his arms, reaching up to cup his cheek. “How are you feeling?” She looked at him with worry in her eyes.
“I’m...past the worst of it, thanks to you.” He kissed her softly on the lips. “I’m just ready to move forward and come up with a plan to end all of this. Then I can deal with everything else.”
“You don’t have to bottle it all up until this is over, Liam. You can talk to me.”
“I know, you’ve more than proven that to me.” He winked, a slight smirk on his face. “Taking them down is how I need to work through it. It seems as though a majority of the struggles we have faced have been at the hands of the Via Imperii. Getting my revenge and eliminating them will be a cathartic, healing experience. It needs to happen for the country, and for my own piece of mind.”
She nodded and pulled out of his embrace, taking his hand and walking him toward the island. “Good, that’s what we’ll do then. Sit and I’ll get a plate together for you. I need to fill you in on the rest before everyone gets here.”
“Everyone?” He asked as he watched her walk back to the stove and put two plates together.
“I texted Maxwell this morning, he’s going to come back with Drake so that he can work with us on a plan. He’s already had time to process his dad’s shittyness, so you and Drake won’t have to do all the heavy lifting while dealing with your news.” She placed a plate down in front of him and sat down.
Liam looked at her confused, “Why would Drake still be processing my news? You told him the other day, didn’t you?”
Riley took a deep breath, there was so much she didn’t get a chance to tell Liam the night before. She would have to get through it all now. He had to be completely filled in before Drake and Maxwell arrived. “Not your news, Liam. I had some for him too.”
Riley filled Liam in on the rest of the information she had learned that weekend. Treading lightly when he spoke about Eleanor, making sure not to refer to as his mother, she would simply say ‘she’ and Liam understood. Liam sat there, pushing his own pain aside so he could focus on the task at hand, while also being there for Drake. He knew Drake, and he knew that he was likely feeling a similar storm of emotions, but being the selfless kind hearted soul Liam knew he was, he wasn’t dealing with any of that. Instead, Drake was keeping himself busy by taking care of his friends, just like he had his whole life.
After breakfast, Liam rescheduled his and Riley’s meetings and commitments for the day so that they could focus on the task at hand. Eleanor had her lessons, Drake planned on dropping her off in the Great Room when they arrived at the palace, giving them a couple of hours to talk. Liam and Riley finished getting ready for the day, and headed into the living room just in time to hear the knock on the door. Liam answered.
Maxwell was the first to enter, bounding in and raising his arms over his head “The party is here.” He walked up to Riley and gave her their secret handshake before pulling her into a hug.
Drake entered and Liam shut the door behind him. They turned to face each other, and nodded in silent understanding. Liam extended his hand and Drake took it in a handshake that was quickly, and mutually, pulled into a hug. They stayed like that for several moments speaking to each other in hushed tones that only the two of them could hear.
After a few moments, Maxwell spoke up. “Hey, how come you guys never hug me like that?”
“Maxwell!” Riley yelled in a hushed tone as she elbowed him in the side, making a rapid throat cutting gesture when he looked at her, signaling that he should leave it alone.
They finally pulled away, clearing their throats as they separated. Drake walked up to Riley, giving her a hug, as Liam approached Maxwell and shook his hand.
“Let’s sit, there’s a lot to go over.” Liam signaled toward the couch as he approached Riley, wrapping an arm around her waist.
Riley gave Liam a reassuring look. “Should we get Bastien in here as well? He should be a part of this.” She suggested.
“Absolutely. You sit, love. I’ll go get him.” Liam walked her to the couch and kissed the top of her head as she sat, before going back to the front door to retrieve Bastien.
Once everyone was there, Riley looked to Liam for the next move. She wasn’t sure which of them would take the lead on this conversation, not knowing if Liam would be able to get through the parts of the story that he had learned the night before. He took her hand in his and nodded at her as a signal to begin the conversation.
“Ok, so we have a new threat. Well, an old threat, but in a new and soul crushing package.” She paused for a moment and looked around the room. Liam and Drake were fully filled in, Bastien was partially aware of the situation, and Maxwell was completely in the dark. The best thing to do would be to start at the beginning.
With that, Riley explained everything, her conversation with Eirik at Applewood, the meeting in Portavira, and of course everything that had happened during her Valtoria trip. She made sure to grip Liam’s hand a little tighter when she got to the part about Eleanor, when Drake also reached over and placed a comforting hand on his friend’s back. The news of Eleanor and Jackson’s involvement, on top of Eleanor not being quite as dead as everyone thought, obviously, a total shock to those in the room hearing it for the first time. Maxwell’s jaw dropped, his hand quickly moving to cover it as tears welled up in his eyes. For the first time in his life, Maxwell was speechless.
Riley looked over to Bastien, who was standing by Drake’s chair. She was surprised by the emotion etched in his typically stoic face. Then she realized, she had been so worried about everyone else, that she didn’t consider how difficult this news may be for Bastien. Jackson Walker had taken a young, fresh-faced Bastien under his wing when he first joined the King’s guard, and invited him into his family. Bastien had been alone most of his life, so becoming an unofficial Walker gave him a sense of belonging and home that he hadn’t felt since he was a little boy. He had known Jackson was a member of the Via Imperii, he was trying to recruit Bastien prior to his death, but the way Jackson talked about it didn’t line up with what he had learned in the last couple of weeks. Suddenly it all made sense, the information he was getting was based off of the original plan that Jackson had been working on. If he was killed for going against them, it would explain why they stopped pursuing Bastien after his death. He always found something a little suspicious about Jackson’s death, this just confirmed it, and made him want to exact his revenge for the man that had given him everything.
The room was silent as everyone continued to process the information. Maxwell was the first to speak up. “You guys, I don’t even know what to say. I mean my dad was bad news, but this is a whole other level.” He looked at Liam, “I mean, a coma is one thing, but to pretend to actually be dead? And then to find out you have a brother?!”
“Thank you Maxwell. It has been a...trying few hours to say the least.” Liam squeezed Riley’s hand a little tighter to keep himself calm. “But that is why you are here. We need to work together to remove them once and for all.”
“So, what do we do?” Drake chimed in.
“That’s what we need to figure out. How do you take down a group that nobody even knows exists?” Riley looked around the room, hoping one of the men might have a suggestion.
Bastien cleared his throat to get the room’s attention. “Perhaps we start by getting some form of hard evidence against them. Something tangible, and undeniable.”
“Yea, we could release it publicly. If everyone knows they exist, and what they’re up to, they won’t have any power.” Maxwell agreed.
Riley nodded. “Ok, that could work. How do we do that? I mean, I’m a member or whatever, but I don’t think you can just borrow membership records, or like walk in taking pictures.”
‘We could send you in with a hidden camera or recorder of some kind.” Liam suggested. “I don’t want to get Amalas involved, we can’t be certain where her loyalties lie, but Olivia could be of help to us on that front.”
Drake interjected, skepticism in his tone. “Yea, but can we trust her? Her family isn’t really known for their loyalty to the crown.”
Liam stood from his seat. “Historically, you are correct Drake. The Nevrakis family has never been particularly with their standing within the monarchy, but I think that Olivia has more than proven herself. Not only in her loyalty to the crown, but in her loyalty to me personally.”
“Yea Drake, she’s had our backs through everything.” Riley also stood, linking her arm with Liam’s in a show of support. “Besides, in the few conversations I’ve had with these people, they don’t speak too highly of the Nevrakis line, they don’t seem like they would have much interest in bringing her onboard.”
“Alright, let’s get her involved.” Drake ran a hand through his hair, still not fully convinced, but knowing he was outnumbered.
“Great. Liam, you and Drake should work with Olivia to get it set up. I’ll talk to Mara and see when I will be meeting with them next, so that we know our timeline.” Riley turned to Bastien, “Bastien, since Hana is in Shanghai, I guess you’ll be taking her place in this mission.”
“Of course, your majesty. Should we make our way to the boutique so I can assist you in finding something to wear?”
Everyone stared blankly at Bastien, the corners of Riley’s mouth slowly turned upward. “Bastien, did you just make a joke?”
“Yes your majesty, I know you all tend to try to add a little levity to situations such as these.”
“Correction…” Maxwell stood up and positioned himself in front of Bastien, “I add levity. I’m the funny one, not Hana. Know your role.”
“My apologies, Lord Beaumont.” Bastien bowed out of respect, but mostly to hide the grin that started to spread across his face.
As the group continued to chat, there was a knock at the door. Soon after, Eleanor came barrelling into the room. “Mommy, daddy, I’m home!” She ran straight for her parents who knelt down to greet her.
“Hello princess, we missed you so much.” Liam wrapped Eleanor in a hug.
As he held his daughter, Riley noticed Thomas entering the room. She stood, giving Drake, Maxwell, and Batien a concerned look. This would be the first time Liam would be face to face with him, knowing who he was.
Bastien rushed over to him, trying to usher him out of the room before Liam noticed. Just as he reached Thomas, the King stood up and looked directly at Thomas, his eyes going wide at the sight of his brother. He quickly shook his head and put his most stoic expression in place. Everyone exchanged worried glances. Riley turned to Liam and linked her hand with his, giving it a gentle squeeze to reassure him that he wasn’t alone.
“Your majesties, Eleanor did wonderfully today. I was very impressed with how much she learned today.” Thomas bowed as he addressed the King and Queen.
Liam gripped Riley’s hand tightly, as if he were falling from a building and she was the ledge preventing him from plummeting to his death. He opened his mouth to speak, but he couldn’t manage to get any words out. It didn’t matter, even if he could find his voice, he had no idea what he would say.
“Thank you Thomas, that will be all for today.” Riley jumped in to break the silence.
Thomas bowed and exited the room. Bastien gave the group a sad smile before bowing and following him out of the room.
“Hey Eleanor, weren’t you telling me about a new dress you were excited about? Want to do a fashion show for Uncle Max?” Maxwell held his hand out to Eleanor, knowing that he needed to give Liam a moment.
“Fashion show! Fashion show!” Eleanor grabbed Maxwell by the hand and pulled him down the hall. He looked back and nodded at his friends. Riley mouthed a silent ‘thank you’ to him as he rounded the corner.
“Liam?” Riley turned to face Liam, placing a hand on his cheek. Without a word, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her flush against him, burying his face in her hair. “I know Liam. It’s ok, we’ll get through this.” She peered over his shoulder, giving Drake a sad look.
Drake approached the pair and patted Liam on the shoulder. “For what it’s worth, you handled it better than I would have.”
Liam pulled himself from Riley’s arms, and scrubbed his hand over his face, letting out a deep sigh. “Thank you both. That was...difficult.”
“Should we talk to Bastien about having him reassigned?” Riley looked up at her husband.
Liam shook his head. “No, the timing will make it too obvious, they will know you told me. I won’t put you in danger like that.” His face had a slight look of panic.
Riley was reminded of the conversation they had much earlier that morning, and Liam expressing his fear of losing her. She knew she had to do something to bring him back from that place. She gently placed one hand on his cheek and drew his face down to hers. As their foreheads met, she whispered “I’m right here. Always.” Before placing a gentle kiss on his lips.
“All we can do right now is get to work so that we can put all this behind us. We’ll deal with Thomas, and everyone else, after that.” The sound of Drake’s voice brought Riley and Liam out of the moment.
Liam cleared his throat before turning to address his friend. “Right. Olivia will be here in a couple of days for the council meeting. We will speak with her then.”
Drake nodded. “I’ll go grab Maxwell and we’ll get out of your hair.” He approached Liam and placed a hand on his shoulder. “You’ll reach out if you need me?”
“I should be asking you that question.” Liam arched an eyebrow in response. “One of us is significantly more forthcoming with our emotions than the other.”
“Touché.” Drake laughed as he clapped Liam on the shoulder.
Maxwell and Drake said their goodbyes, and headed out leaving the royal family to themselves. They had a big fight ahead of them, but in this moment, Riley and Liam just wanted to be a family. Not a King and Queen with the heir, not warriors preparing for battle, a husband and wife spending time with their daughter.

And When I am Formulated, Sprawling on a Pin - Chapter Eight: Mad to Live, Mad to Talk
The eighth instalment of my Chishiya x OC/reader fic - you can find it here on AO3 too.
Thank you to the people who always leave likes and comments, seeing/reading them honestly makes my day :) xx
As for what I mentioned in my last update, I’ll add the references as a chapter at the end of the fic (because some of them will give away spoilers!)
Speaking of spoilers, you guys probably connected some dots (a la hoodie)
Sorry, I'll stop talking - enjoy!
--------------------------------------------------------------------
The drawl of his voice stretched like a lifeline, pulling me back to myself. Back to the bar.
Chishiya was slouched against the counter, idly watching the scene before him. His eyes dropped to the gun, before rising to meet mine. There was nothing in them, not amusement, not even cruelty. Nothing. They were emptier and darker than they’d ever been. And yet at that moment, I had never been more overjoyed to see him.
‘You should probably put that thing away,’ he said. ‘Hatter won’t be too happy if you start messing with her. He’s got high expectations of her.’
The man pushed the gun further into my skin, sending bursts of anxiety through me. I didn’t want him to pull the trigger accidentally. If he shot me in the stomach, it’d be a slow, painful death.
‘You know Chishiya, I’m pretty sick of you interfering all the time. You should stay out of militant business.’
Chishiya eyed the man with disinterest. ‘Militant business. It’s fascinating what you guys do. You take out the trash and dish out the sentence, but you never check the evidence.’
‘What the hell are you talking about?’ the man snarled. ‘Just shut up and stay out of this.’
‘What I’m saying is that you never bother checking to see if the ‘traitors’ are actually traitors. It’s surprisingly easy to slip a few cards into someone else’s room.’
The tension peaked, and I winced as the fingers around my wrist tightened painfully. Then just as quickly, he released me. He hissed a spew of threats in Chishiya’s face, then stormed off. I hadn’t understood a word, but either way, Chishiya was completely unbothered.
Now that we were alone, he barely even spared me a glance. I half-wondered why he was here. He wouldn’t have come to the bar just to help me. But I also couldn’t picture him as a drunk. As if to answer all the questions floating around in my head, Chishiya signalled to the bartender and said two words.
‘お水をください’ Water, please.
Knowing him, he’d say that alcohol clouds your mind and dulls your rational thinking skills. The bartender set the glass on the counter, but Chishiya didn’t walk away, but sipped his water.
‘Thanks,’ I muttered, although helping me was likely never on his agenda. ‘I’m guessing stuff like that’s pretty common around here.’
‘Well, there are only three rules,’ he said. With one side glance, he zeroed in on the hoodie Kuina had given me. ‘Right now, you’re not allowed to go roaming the city alone because you’re still new, and that makes you a liability. But the next time you’re in a game, you’ll be paired with one of the executives, or someone else with a high rank. If you ask, they’ll go with you to find new clothes.’
I didn’t know how he knew the hoodie wasn’t mine. But I had given up trying to figure out how Chishiya’s mind works.
Before I could ask, he spoke, catching me off guard once again. ‘Come on, Kuina’s waiting for us.’
----------------------------------------------------
That night, I had found out that Kuina and Chishiya were actually friends. Sort of. It was hard to tell. They hung around together and joked like friends, but instinctively I could tell that Kuina didn’t completely trust him. The days passed quickly, and despite the obvious tension between the militants and the other executives, I found myself actually enjoying it. It was hard not to, with hot water and all.
I spent my days pestering Chishiya to teach me Japanese properly (which he never did). And Kuina and I would chat about the real world. She told me about her mother’s sickness, and how she was desperate to get back to the old world so she could look after her properly. But when she asked about my own life, I filtered a lot of things out. I explained how I was visiting Japan with my brother, and how I had been trying to learn Japanese on and off for a few years just so that I could visit. But when it came to my personal life, I just couldn’t bring myself to talk about it.
‘話せば長くなる,’ I told her. It’s a long story.
The days seemed to dry up under the heat of the sun, and sure enough, my visa was due to expire.
Sitting cross-legged on my bed under the late afternoon rays, I couldn’t help but feel apprehensive after my last game… my first Hearts game… meeting Niragi and Aguni… the laser tag guns… the ball pit… the teenage girl. It had all collected into one big mass, and my throat tightened at the thought of the blood, the darkness.
No, I tried to tell myself. It’s different now. We’ll be put into teams, and I won’t be alone. We’ll clear the games together.
With slightly more resolve than before, I climbed off the bed and quietly left my room, only my stomach dropped when I saw the nasty surprise waiting for me on the other side of the door.
Niragi was leaning against the opposite wall, and the moment I exited, he shot me a grin. I had no idea what he was doing there, probably militant business, so I nodded at him in acknowledgement, then headed down the hall. I knew something was seriously wrong when I heard his footsteps stalking behind me.
‘Niragi,’ I greeted him.
‘Shorty,’ he replied, now walking beside me. ‘You really shouldn’t ignore people, you know. It’s rude as fuck.’
What does he want with me of all people?
‘私を待っているは知らなかった,’ I told him honestly. I didn’t know you were waiting for me.
‘Ch, as if. I waited there for half an hour. Where the hell are you off to anyway?’
I held out my bandaged arm. ‘これがまだ痛い。だから医療室ではアンに会う.’ This still hurts, so I’m meeting An in the medical room.
Overall, it had healed pretty well. But after the laser tag game, and being kidnapped by militants, the wound had partially re-opened again.
‘I’ll go with you.’
Why??
My gut instinct was telling me to run away, far away.
We turned a corner, stopping in front of the elevators. When the doors pinged open, the group of girls inside immediately stopped talking once they laid eyes on us. They darted out of the elevator, leaving it empty for Niragi and I to enter. I tried not to feel nervous around him. If he wanted me dead, he’d have just shot me already, so it couldn’t be that.
‘どうして待っていた?’ I asked, slowly. How come you were waiting?
Asking Niragi questions felt like a life-or-death situation. Last time I was rude to him he kicked me in the spine. The man was like a loaded gun; he had to be handled with care.
However, he didn’t reply, and the lingered between us until the elevator stopped at the basement floor. We headed down a long, dark hallway, with exposed cables and pipes suspended from the ceiling. This was starting to feel like a really, really bad idea. Seeing the medical room door, I sped up instinctively, but Niragi’s hand grabbed my shoulder, pulling me back and yanking me around. The movement sent shooting pains down through my injured arm.
‘Chishiya,’ Niragi said, eyes glinting with malice. ‘You’ve become pretty chummy with him recently.’
Wait… what?
‘That’s not…’ I hated the way my voice stuttered. ‘そうじゃない.’ That’s not it….
He clearly wasn’t buying it. ‘Tell me what he’s up to. He’s an arrogant little shit and I know he’s up to something.’
Niragi’s grip was too tight, way too tight, and I could barely think straight through the pain. ‘違うよ,’ I insisted. You’re wrong.
‘Am I? I don’t think so, Shorty. You’d better tell me now before I put a bullet in you.’
I didn’t know whether I was scared or annoyed. My heart hammered in my chest, but I was getting pretty sick of his ridiculous questions. I tore away from his hold, inspecting the sleeve for any spots of blood that could’ve seeped through.
‘Stop doing that! クイナのパーカーを台無しにしたくない.’ I don’t want to ruin Kuina’s hoodie.
His brow furrowed a little at this, but I ignored it. Someone like him probably didn’t care about getting blood on his clothes.
I didn’t know how to say what I meant in Japanese, so all I could do was tell him in English. ‘You’re right about one thing. Chishiya’s awful. But you’re wrong about everything else. He can’t stand the sight of me, except when he’s watching me suffer. So even if he did have some kind of plan hatched up, he wouldn’t bother telling me.’
Niragi pulled away and stood up fully. Despite his visible irritation, he was listening all the same.
Perhaps he knows a little bit of the language?
‘And even then,’ I continued, ‘if he was planning something, why would he bother? You know as well as anyone he’s just in this for his own survival and being here at the Beach is his best shot. It wouldn’t make sense.’
A dangerous look worked its way onto his features. I thought right then and there that he’d attack me, kick me with his boot like he’d done before. But he did the exact opposite. With one hand, he twirled his fingers in a strand of my hair, before softly tucking it behind my ear.
I held my breath as he leaned in. ‘Everything you just said,’ he whispered, ‘is complete bullshit.’
Then pulling away quicker than I could flinch, he readjusted his rifle on his shoulder and took off back down the hall. Then he suddenly stopped, as if remembering something, and looked at me over his shoulder.
‘That hoodie you’re wearing… it’s Chishiya’s.’
-------------------------------------------------------
I must’ve looked like I’d seen a ghost, because when I finally entered the medical room, An immediately asked me if I was feeling ill. I tried telling her that I was perfectly fine, but she insisted on taking a bunch of tests to make sure I wasn’t going into septic shock. I couldn’t tell her that it was closer to actual shock.
Even when I finally left the medical room, I still couldn’t shake it off. Except now, the surprise had worn away, leaving sheer humiliation in its place.
Did Kuina steal it from his room?
When he met me at the bar, he must’ve seen it and wondered where I’d gotten it from. And when he had mentioned asking one of the executives to go shopping with me… he had probably assumed I’d been in his room and taken it.
Oh god…
I wanted to curl up in a ball and cry. I wanted to scream and tell him I’m sorry. I wanted to rip the hoodie off and push it as far away from me as I could. But I couldn’t. I still didn’t feel comfortable being so exposed.
‘It’s fine,’ I tried to convince myself, ‘everything’s fine.’ I got into the elevator and pressed the button for the ground floor.
My visa’s due to expire tonight, so I can get a new one for myself. I’ll just explain everything to him. It’s almost game time anyway, so he might be in the lobby.
As the elevator doors opened, I wiped any tears away with my hands, careful not to dirty the sleeves, and headed to the lobby. It was packed with Beach residents, either wishing their friends luck or preparing for the games ahead. I found the little table at the front and took the slip of paper with my name on it.
Group Two.
Then I stepped back, leaning against the wall as my eyes searched the crowds. Sure enough, I spotted a white hood, the thin tendrils of grey-blond hair visible beneath. I waited until he took his slip of paper before I stepped forward.
But there was no need. His eyes locked onto mine from across the room, as if he had clocked onto my presence immediately without showing it. He trudged through the masses, coming to a stop in front of me. I couldn’t help but rub my arms nervously.
‘I’m sorry,’ I blurted out, ‘Kuina gave me this hoodie, and I assumed it was hers and that she was letting me use it. But I just found out from Niragi that it’s actually yours. I didn’t steal it or anything, and I’ve definitely never been in your room. I’m so sorry, I had no idea.’
Chishiya didn’t seem surprised at all, or if he was, he was an expert at hiding it. ‘I know,’ he said, at last. ‘You couldn’t have known where my room was anyway.’
Thinking about it, he had a point. When I started wearing this, I hadn’t even left my own room, so I couldn’t have been in Chishiya’s.
‘I guess you’re right.’
I felt his warmth against my side as he leaned on the wall next to be me. ‘But what I told you at the bar that night still stands,’ he said. ‘Tonight, you’ll get the chance to go looking for any clothes or personal items you want.’
‘Once I get some of my own clothes, I’ll wash this and give it back to you, I promise’ I told him. ‘I just need to find out who the executive in my group is.’
‘It’s me.’
‘How do you know?’
‘Because the executives create the groups,’ he said. ‘And I happen to be supervising you. Normally, when a new member arrives, we do an aptitude test. We observe them in a game to test their abilities, but I’ve already vouched for your abilities, and there were only two executives with an expiring visa.’
‘That’s….’ I trailed off, then something clicked. ‘Wait, who was the other executive?’
Ignoring my question, he went on. ‘Since I’ve already seen your abilities, your only test will be to survive. If you can do that, I’ll go with you to get whatever supplies you need.’
I tried to keep the smile from my face, but I couldn’t hold it back. ‘Sounds like a deal.’
‘Time for the games!’ a voice called out, excitedly, and the whole room erupted into cheers. The masses of Beach members piled through the doors, trying to find their assigned cars and groups.
At the same time, I hadn’t moved at all. I couldn’t keep my eyes from Chishiya’s. He was looking back into mine with that same calculating emptiness. I could see the cogs turning, but I didn’t know what they were turning for.
Then as quickly as it happened, the moment was gone as he left, disappearing into the crowd.

(not my gif)
You sat in the car. You were outside of a crime scene, the house looking ominous as it loomed over what had happened inside. There were so many people outside, taking pictures and talking. Will was inside. You had driven him, per his request. You usually didn’t come to the crime scenes but they had been acting off, like he was almost on autopilot when he asked you to take him. Your fingers drummed on the steering wheel as you stared out, trying to catch glimpses of people you knew.
You saw Bev walk out quickly making her way to the car. You rolled down the window and she shook her head a bit as she walked up.
“You should go talk to Will,” she said.
“What happened?” Bev looked back at the house, at Jack who had just exited the house. You looked at her, the worried look on her face evident.
“He contaminated the crime scene. He’s never done that before,” Beverly said. “His hands were around her throat.”
You were surprised to hear that, rightly so. You unlocked the car and got out, walking across the yard beside Beverly who was quick to give anyone a look that even thought about protesting to your presence. Will had come out when you weren’t looking. He was talking to Jack.
“I got lost in the reconstruction. Just for a second. Just a blink,” Will was saying as you walked up to him. Jack barley took notice of your presence but Will looked at you, surprised to see you there by his eyes. He didn’t protest it though. You knew before he could tell you. He had lost some time.
“I know you don’t like to be a subject of concern, but consider me officially concerned,” Jack said. You scoffed and Jack glanced at you but didn’t show any emotion.
“Officially,” Will said.
“About time,” you muttered.
“Wait in the car,” Jack said to you. You raised your hands in defiance.
“I’m here on a warning from Beverly,” you said, glancing at Will. He shook his head.
“I’ll be there soon,” he muttered. You nodded and he reached out to grab your hand and for a second he held it, quietly, looking confused and worried and scared. Your hand slipped from his and you walked over to the car.
“Thought the reason you have me seeing Dr. Lecter and not an FBI psychiatrist is so my mental well-being stays unofficial,” Will muttered, watching you go.
“Have I broken you?” Jack asked. “Is your girlfriend right this time?”
“Do you have anybody that does this better unbroken then I do broken?” Will asked. “And she’s always right.”
“Fear makes you rude, Will,” Jack said as Will walked to the car. His hands shook. He always seemed to be shaking. He stooped at the drivers window and you looked at him, elbow resting on the open window and your hand propped up by your palm.
“We should go to Hannibal after this,” you muttered.
“Why are you here?” he asked. It wasn’t rude. He was only asking.
“You asked me to drive you.” He nodded, glancing back at the house. “I have to look at the body again.” A beat of silence.
“What’s the last thing you remember?”
“Gutting a fish,” he whispered. You nodded. He had gone fishing yesterday though.
“We’ll go to Hannibal’s together.”
“Sit in,” he whispered, referring to the session.
“I will.” He nodded and walked back to the house. You fought the tears threatening to fall from seeing him in so much confusion.
-
“I can’t remember seeing her dead body before I saw myself killing her,” Will said. He glanced at you sheepishly. You sat on Hannibal’s desk which was your resident spot when you sat into sessions. You didn’t do it often and you only did it with Will’s request or permission. He wanted a witness today, to whatever it is that Hannibal had prepared for him.
“Those memories sank out of sight, yet you’re aware of their absence,” Hannibal inquired. Will was pacing around the room, his mind on fire.
“They left a slick on the surface of my mind where they’re supposed to be,” he said.
“Where you hope they’re supposed to be, but fear they never were.” Will looked haunted. The false memories made him reel. The dying human under his hands had felt so real.
“There’s a grandiosity in the violence I imagined that feels more real than what I knew is true,” he said.
“What do you know to be true?” Hannibal asked.
“I know I didn’t kill her. Couldn’t have. But I remember cutting into her. I remember watching her die.”
“You must overcome these delusions that are disguising your reality. What savage delusions does this killer have?” Hannibal questioned. He was walking around the room as well, but in smaller spaces.
“It wasn’t savage. It was lonely...desperate...sad,” Will said, his eyes glossed over.
“Are you lonely Will?” Hannibal asked. Will shook his head then paused. Your heart sank and you hung off his answer.
“No. That was the killer,” he said. “But I caught a glimpse of myself in the mirror. I looked through me, past me. Like I was a stranger,” he whispered.
“What could this be? It has to be something that we can treat,” you said. Will looked at you and nodded.
“It could be a blood clot. Or a tumor. Just an answer is better than anything,” Will said. Hannibal glanced at you and Will as you stared at each other, nodding in agreement. Your emotions hung off Will’s. It didn’t matter if you were an empath or not. You knew Will well enough to know when enough was enough.
“I can recommend a neurologist. But if it isn’t physiological then you have to accept what you’re struggling with is mental illness,” Hannibal said.
“It isn’t,” you whispered.
Hannibal looked only at you as you seemed to bore holes into the ceiling now. You had a dangerous knowledge of Will Graham. Hannibal thought that might be a problem.
-
You were with Hannibal and Will into the medical office. You held Will’s hand and he held yours like a lifeline. You sat at chairs beside each other that happened to be far enough away where his hand slipped out of yours. He held them now in his lap, fingers fidgeting.
“What did the headaches start? In earnest?” Dr. Sutcliffe asked. Will glanced at you.
“Two to three months ago,” Will said and you nodded in agreement.
“About the time Will went back into the field,” you said.
“When I met him,” Hannibal added.
“The hallucinations?” Sutcliffe asked.
“I don’t know exactly when they started. I just slowly became aware that I might not be dreaming.”
Hannibal walked with Sutcliffe behind a large piece of glass. You stayed with Will for a few minutes, taking his clothes in his hand as he put on the hospital dress. He let out a small sigh as you looked at him.
“What if nothing comes up?” he asked.
“We’ll deal with that when it comes.”
Will looked at you and you looked at him. He was ready to go but he waited. Eyes glancing around your body wildey.
“If nothing comes up than I am, by definition, likely insane,” he told you quietly. “And if-”
“I’m not going to go anywhere,” you said. Will looked broken. He looked tired. You grabbed his hand and brought it to your lips, kissing the back of it. “I love you.”
His breath seemed to relax. He knew you but he wasn’t sure that when he woke up you would be gone. He might be seriously ill but knowing you were there still made him feel better.
“I love you too.” You kissed him and he kissed you back desperately.
“Go get your brain scanned now. You have lipstick on your lips,” you said as you pulled away. He laughed very subtly adn shrugged, wiping it off with his hand.
“I don’t think it’ll mess up the results.”
“You never know.”
-
You stood beside Will again before the doctor. He pointed to the brain scan.
“We didn’t find anything abnormal. No vascular malformations, no tumors. No swelling or bleeding. No evidence of stroke. Nothing wrong with you neurologically,” the doctor said. Will’s face was clearly troubled. “Usually when I tell a patient that, they’re happy to hear it.”
“So... what I’m experiencing is psychological?” Will asked.
“Brain scans can’t diagnose a mental disorder. They can only rule out medical illnesses, like a tumor, that can cause similar symptoms.”
“And there’s no chance you’ve mixed up the photos? Or maybe the machine was malfunctioning? I hear that happens,” you said stiffly.
“Y/N,” Will muttered but you shook your head.
“We can do more tests if it’ll make you feel better. Take some blood samples, but I imagine they'll be just as inconclusive.”
For some reason you doubted the truth in that but you didn’t voice it.
-
You walked into Jack Crawford's office. He took off his glasses and looked up at you, clearly not excited to see you.
“Does Will need something?” Jack asked.
“Stability. A new brain perhaps,” you said. Jack looked you up and down and he knew that you meant business.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, voice monotone.
“Will’s always been a bit odd. Always. It was what drew me to him in the first place,” you said.
“Listen-”
“Shut up.” He shut up. “When Will went back into the field it was because you wanted him to. Will wants to please people. He wants to save lives. He wants to use his gift for good but for each life he saves a little piece of him is burned and singed. You broke Will Jack Crawford and I won’t let you forget it,” you said evenly, looking down at him.
“Do you have a life outside of Will Graham?”
“I did before you broke him and now I have to advocate where he cannot.”
“We were never going to be friends,” Jack said.
“No, no we weren’t.”
-
Come midnight when Will hadn’t arrived home you woke up. You were getting a suspicious amount of sleep. You had gone to bed, assuming he would be back soon after you fell asleep. Jack sometimes had him out late hours and he was likely to be back. But when you woke up and he was still gone you started to panic a bit.
You calmed yourself, trying to reason that he was maybe still at work. You called his cell. No answer.
You got up out of bed and put on some clothes. With him sleepwalking, losing time, he could be anywhere. You told yourself to add a tracker to his phone.
You got into the car and drove the streets for a few minutes. He wasn’t there. You then drove to Hannibal’s which was the only other place your mind could come up with. You knocked on the door at about 12:30, shaking from the cold and worry. It took Hannibal a moment to come to the door but he eventually did, wearing his robe and rubbing his eyes.
“I thought you were Will,” he admitted.
“Will hasn’t come home yet. He won’t pick up the phone but I’m guessing he’s not here,” you said, looking past him.
“Have you tried the crime scene?” he questioned. You shook your head but that must be where he was. It had to be.
“No but I’ll go there now. I’m sorry to wake you.”
“Don’t apologize.” He was about to shut the door when you turned around but he stopped. “He’ll be there. I’m sure your expertise in finding strays will help,” Hannibal said simply. You nodded and walked back to the car.
On your way there you got a call from Will.
“Where the f-”
“I just sent you the address. Come quickly.” He hung up and you did as you were told, driving faster to the destination you were already going to. You were there in under ten minutes from where you had been on your drive and you got out, walking quickly up to Will.
“I thought you were dead!” you yelled, throwing your arms around him. He shook his head but let you hold him.
“Not yet,” he muttered. “I called Beverly to help me figure out the crime scene,” he said.
“Then why did you tell me to come?”
“Emotional support.” You nodded and held him tighter.
-
You woke up with a start. Will was thrashing beside you and you put your arm on his side instinctively. You couldn’t tell what had woken you up. It could be anything. The weather, your dreams but you felt like it was something out. You looked around for any disturbances. The dogs were still sleeping but you got up and looked around, trying to find what had woken you.
You walked through the kitchen and the downstairs but you couldn’t find anything. When you were back in the bedroom Will was awake, standing up.
“Where did you go?” he asked.
“Something woke me up. I was trying to figure out what.” You walked back over to him and back into bed.
“Probably wind,” he muttered. You put your arms around him as he got back in too and he put his head on your chest. You kissed his curls.
“Probably,” you whispered.
-
Will went in for more tests a few days later. He looked up at you as you stood in the same spots you had, with you holding his clothes as he stripped them.
“Jack talked to me,” he said.
“Proceed with caution,” you whispered and he chuckled.
“He thinks I stayed in the job because of the stability. That Jack created stability for me, a foundation.”
“If he keeps going on like that you’re going to be investigating his murder,” you muttered bitterly. “Would you still date me if I murdered someone?” He shrugged.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if you did. I mean, I’d have to consider it.”
“Wrong answer Graham,” you said laughing lightly. He loved these moments. Moments where it was just laughing, joking.
“I would date you if you killed someone. I mean I might have to turn you in but prison can’t be that hard on a relationship,” he said. You nodded.
“Right back at you bubba,” you whispered.
“I have killed someone.”
“And look at you, still a free man.”
After the tests Will walked around, trying to find you or the doctor or someone. You were waiting for him and you walked up with his clothes in hand.
“Have you seen Sutcliffe?” Will asked. You shook your head.
“Not since earlier,” you admitted. “Let’s go find him.” You held his clothes in hand as you walked through the hospital. You peaked in rooms and eventually found Sutcliffes office. You pushed open the door as it was ajar.
You gasped and Will grabbed you and put himself between you and the body, bleeding from a chunk that had been taken out of his face.
“Don’t look,” he whispered.
“I can,” you muttered. “Call Bev.”
-
The FBI came soon after. Beverly gave Will a look over, Jack concerned he might have had something to do with the murdedr.
“He was with me until he went in. And I would have seen him leave,” you promised. Bev nodded.
“You’re clean. You couldn’t have done this without getting something on you and there’s nothing on you,” Beverly said.
“I don’t feel clean,” Will whispered.
“Murder weapon has the same diseased or damaged tissue on it that we found at Beth LeBeau’s house,” Jimmy explained aloud.
“What connection does this guy have to the first victim?” Will let out a sigh.
“Just me.”
-
Will woke up and you were already sitting up. He followed your gaze that was at where one of the dogs growled at something under the bed. He grabbed your hand and shook his head.
‘Stay,’ he whispered. You shook your head vigorously and he nodded, getting off the bed and looking underneath. He slid underneath and you leaned your head over the bed, heart pounding in your ears.
“I see you, Georgia,” Will said under the bed. You couldn't see his face. There was a woman under your bed. “Think of who you are. It’s midnight. You’re in Wolf Trap, Virginia. Your name is Georgia Madchen. You are not alone.”
“Am I alive…?” came a voice, a raspy whisper. Will nodded.
-
You stood with Will in the hospital room, looking down at the living body of the woman who had slept under your bed. You held Will’s hand as he glanced over her.
“She’ll recover,” Will said.
“Hopefully she’ll stay out of our bed,” you whispered.

“Sweet as Cherry Pie.”
Peaky Blinders One Shot
Summary: Y/n is Alfie Solomons’ younger sister who comes to Camden town & Small Heath. Why? She’s their secret weapon: sassy, unpredictable and insults their enemies to filth. Or maybe she’s just bored and needed the first enemy she sees to throw a comment at. Either way, Alfie couldn’t ask for a better sister.

Author’s Note: sksmsksks this is based off a dream i had one night. it isn’t the best piece i’ve written but i love a sassy reader. one shots are not open, this is just a one shot for my 800 follower special - [milestone masterlist]
“GOOD MORNING, Alfie.” Tommy said, walking down the distillery. Well, it wasn’t that much of a good morning for Tommy, really. In fact, even though he’s very productive and professional most times, this time the man wished he was back in bed where he could be exposed in his shirtless self, waking up to see his boy with that bright smile, sharing his eyes.
Normally, he’d be drowning in family meetings back in Small Heath, but the atmosphere in Camden town begged to differ.
“Meh, not really,” Alfie Solomons glances up at the window- the dusty, stained window pane gave in the overcast weather. He turns back to Tommy. “Mate, I’m glad we’re right on schedule. I was starting to think you got shot in your own fucking office chair back home.”
Tommy stared at the Jewish-English man, knowing Alfie was from Camden Town, how outsiders would speak ill of such towns and vice versa.
Alfie shuffles over using his cane as support and hands Tommy the tickets. “Those are the tickets to the boxing match. And in that storage unit behind you is the gateway to the clouds.”
“Kind of you. But you know I have booze at home, stored neatly and safely. I can manage without your rum.” Tommy walked in, anyway.
“I’m not giving you my rum for free, Tommy. I’m not even selling it to you,” Tommy watched as Alfie made his way to the other room of his bakery, ready to check on the AM workers as they got to work right away.
Tommy read the front labels of the bottle he picked up from one of the barrels. This man has gone a long way in his business, he couldn’t deny that. Over a hundred barrels have been shipped to God knows how many speakeasies were in Europe and America, and when Alfie Solomons received his earnings, he holds it tightly and proudly, guarding it as he cherishes his success.
Taking a bottle wouldn’t hurt, it would please him knowing he is interested in buying his product. He could even smell it from the sealed caps. He could smell it from the barrels, residue on the floor, or even from one of the workers’ breaths. He could pop it open and take a quick sniff like playing in snow. Tommy dug in his coat pockets, pulling out a stack.
“Oh, so you are fucking loaded.” Tommy whipped around, his gun already pulled from his holster, gripped and pointed to the voice inches behind him.
The person- the woman, didn’t react, not a small gasp at the sight of the barrel of the gun nearing her face. Boldly enough, she reached over and grabbed the stack of cash from Tommy’s hand and walked away, not even remotely thinking if the man she startled would pull the trigger with her back turned.
“Thanks, Mr. Shelby. And Alfie thanks you!” the female voice calls out.
Con artist? Someone posing as a worker? An enemy? Tommy breathed heavily, swearing left and right in his mind that he could of at least stopped whoever that was from taking his money, or yelled at her the way he usually does to anyone who worked for him because he was the boss. He was loaded, but no one would just allow someone to take a loan like that without anything afterwards, unless they were a clerk in a bank robbery.
After feeling like he was glued to the floor in that tiny space, Tommy rushed out to find Alfie back in his office with his glasses on his face, jotting notes down on a piece of paper, noticing the stack of cash sitting near the cup holder.
“Who the fuck just walked inside that storage unit and grabbed the stash right out my fucking hands?”
Tommy’s outburst of his question didn’t send Alfie into a panic. “You mean my dearest sister y/n?” Alfie got up from his seat. “She gave me the cash so I didn’t have to do it, but she didn’t even bid me a goodbye afterwards. She just plopped it on my desk and went her way. It’s not like I died or anything. I’m not fucking invisible, Tommy. You can see me, right?”
Tommy let out a long sigh, dreading that there’s not one but two migraine-stirring bastards named Solomons, it’s enough for one he already wishes to throw a beer bottle at some times, but now another one probably much worse than if described. “You have a sister, Alfie? You never said anything about having a sister.”
“Yeah. But don’t worry, she’s sweet as cherry pie,” Alfie nods. “I brought her here, but she’s pretty homesick, so I would bid her warm welcomes if I were you.”
“Why should I?” Tommy says, frowning. “She just took my fucking money.”
“Oh, for sure.” Alfie waves the loan in front of Tommy, reminding him that y/n is no thief. “And because she knows about the vendetta between you, the Peakys and the Italians. If they come to her, she’ll roar at them, literally.”
“WHO the fuck is this, now?” Arthur stared at the woman stood next to Tommy at the foot of the small dining room where old memories held of their past meetings and heartbreaks.
“This is Y/n Solomons. She’s our messenger.” Tommy wished he never had to say that. He wished she would stop touching his fucking stuff, too. “Y/n, put down my fucking frame.”
“Oh fuck,” Polly blew out smoke from her cigarette. “There’s two of them?”
“And what is wrong with my brother?” Y/n places the frame back down on the mantel. “He’s a successful businessman. He beat a man three fucking times his size to gravel after he called me fat.”
“Y/n Solomons is our messenger. She’s also helping with updates from Aberama Gold once we get Michael out of Birmingham for now, because Luca Changretta is still out there, and he’s fucking pissed.”
“You can very hot headed sometimes, Mr. Shelby.” Later the brief introduction of their newcomer in their recent meeting was long over, she stayed back even though she was dismissed to do her work. “It’s probably because you smoke so much cigarettes that you’re starting to look like an ashtray, or of that heavy out-dated coat you wear all the time just weighs you down that your back and shoulders must hurt like hell.”
“The fuck does that mean?” Tommy said, irritated by her presence, even her just standing there at the table.
“Nothing.” Y/n sighs and heads out the door. “You know where I’ll be!” she calls.
Sweet as cherry pie, my ass. Tommy grunts and lights a cigarette.
“WHAT’S the matter?” Luca Changretta asks. “I said we had a deal.”
“Ah, you just made a deal without negotiation, now did ya?” Y/n’s brother sat on the chair, staring up at the menacing mobster holding one of the rum bottles given as a gift. “Yeah, Tommy Shelby was right about you. You plan to kill us all.” He spoke in Yiddish, and he mocks a tsking sound.
Luca smirks down, even though he didn’t know what he said, at least they both were aware of one thing; Tommy knows what kind of man I am.
“Mr. Changretta, may I speak freely?” y/n chimes in.
The Italian shrugs. “Mr. Solomons, I checked my calendar earlier and I did not read anything about today being Take Your Kid to Work Day,” and he laughs, his cousin as his henchman behind laughing along with him.
“Mate, I’d choose my next words very carefully if I were you,” Alfie says, stifling a smile. “This is my baby sister you’re talking down to, and she won’t tolerate one bit of it.”
“And I should be afraid?”
“Perhaps less afraid, more self-conscious, Mr. Changretta,” y/n replies. “Just a few minutes ago I was sensing the stench of failure, but then I saw you and your men walk in.”
Luca chuckles sarcastically. “Ouch.”
“And it’s not like we’re having a showdown right here, you didn’t need to bring your men with you unless you’re doubling their pay for just standing silently. I mean, they’re as important as Tommy Shelby’s evening sous chef.”
“Who?” Alfie had to ask.
Y/n smirks. “Exactly. Anyways, I just need to tell you that my brother’s business isn’t for sale. Alfie has worked hard and I’m proud to be his sister, supporting him. I’ll drink his rum like it’s mother’s milk if I had to. So, let my brother handle your men at the match, and you’ll take care of the two hundred barrels to be shipped to New York. Simple.”
“What do you know about business, Miss Solomons?”
“What do you know about combat, Luca? If you didn’t lack the experience, Tommy Shelby’s blood would spill fresh on your hands as we speak. How are you a soldier for the mafia if you hadn’t accomplish the vendetta yet?”
“Well-”
“Actually, don’t answer that. I’ll fall asleep.” Y/n took a step forward, lowering her smile up as his height overpowered hers. “My brother isn’t asking for much. He’s a good friend of Tommy Shelby, yet he’s helping you. You should be kissing his feet, Mr. Changretta, not abusing his generosity.”
Luca chewed the matchstick in his mouth. “Is that so?” he looks back at his men. “Porca puttana.”
“Vaffanculo, right back at you, mate. You just earned yourself another tonne to your bill. Bring tissues for both your lawyer and accountant.” Y/n turns around and grins at her older brother, who smiled warmly at her the entire time, feeling as though he was proud. If the Peaky Blinders were here, they’d share the same reaction as Luca.
“So you both know Italian?” Luca asked as he sighs in exhaustion.
Alfie nods at Luca, who was glaring down at him for an answer. You learn from your older sibling, you become as tough as bullets and the big help as the messenger, sending a telephone call or a letter mailed to Small Heath, saying Luca Changretta is six feet tall, but shrunk four feet down when y/n opened her mouth.
“Take it or leave it, Signore.” The Italians didn’t even need to ask where this woman got her attitude from. If you’re a Solomon, there’s perks. Y/n smiles to herself, Tommy is gonna hate and love me.
“I warned you about my baby sister, mate.” Alfie says. “Sweet as cherry pie... but with broken glass once you bite into your first slice.”

Kitten?
This is something I came up with at midnight while trying to complete my numerous missing assignments. I apologize in advance
Summary: Tsukishima Kei is a mod of a discord server And with his luck, he finds his first love on the server he runs. He falls head over heels, and vows to fulfill all her needs. However, not everything is what it seems.
Tsukishima was a simple man with simple likes. Granted, However, these likes weren’t as commonplace among his peers.
Sure, he moderated a Discord Server full of people of all ages. In said server, they would play games and talk about the various shows they watched together, some of which were considered children shows.
“Anyone catch the new episode of My Little Pony?” someone on the server would ask.
Tsukishima would bat in immediately, saying, “Remember the two-week spoiler warning, everything else must be covered and properly tagged.” He was the perfect mod, as he was both online all the time he didn’t have school or practice, as well as he was a stickler for the rules. Plus, he had only recently gained access to last week’s episode not long ago, therefore, he had not seen the new episode.
Another thing he liked to do on this server was talk to others on the voice call feature. He enjoyed talking to the many people who decided to join the server, even making a couple of friends, which he refused to believe for the longest time.
One of these many friends was a user that went by the name of gamergirl05. She was a peculiar person, only logging in late at night and logging out early in the morning, only to be away from her computer until late that night again.
She intrigued Tsukishima. Not only was she one of the only girls on the server, she always seemed to be on the voice chat. She never typed messages, never spoke, unless she was spoken to on the voice call.
Her voice was soft and breathy, with a medium pitch. Her profile picture was a white cartoon cat against a pastel pink background. Sometimes, when playing videogames, you could here her grunt in frustration every once in a while.
Tsukishima couldn’t help from gaining a crush.
She didn’t seem clingy, she seemed rather chill and independent, it was like God itself sent this woman into Tsukishima’s life.
She was perfect.
Tsukishima couldn’t help but get excited whenever he saw that she was online. He would always join the voice call whenever he saw she was online.
They would have meaningful conversation. Tsukishima would learn much about her. She was living in Tokyo. She was a year older than Tsukishima; a second year in high school. She had been playing videogames for as long as she could remember. She has an overactive imagination, pretending that she was getting chased by dragons and facing checkpoints every time she walked to school in the morning. She wasn’t popular, but had a couple of close knit friends.
The more they talked, the more Tsukishima fell head over heels. However, the more he started to fall for her, the more he realized that he didn’t know how to express himself in a positive way. He was known as a negative nelly most of his life, with his relationship with the fellow members of the Karasuno volleyball club solidifying that feeling of disgust he felt toward others. Ever with his best friend Yamaguchi he was unable to show positive feelings toward, even though he didn’t feel anything negative toward his best friend.
Unknowing what to do, he looked up online ‘how to show someone you like them,’ only to come up with a website offering a free test to those wondering what their love language was. perfect.
Tsukishima took the test, answering each question as truthfully as he could, even asking his mom what she thought of him for one of the questions.
After thirty minutes of reading, understanding, and clicking, Tsukishima gat the result he was looking for- his love language.
His love language was gift-giving.
He knew exactly what to do at that point.
Later that night, he stared at the voice call box, waiting for a certain someone to join the call. At 11:00pm on the dot, gamergirl05 joined the call. Tsukishima joined the call soon after.
“Um, hey, uh, how was your day?” Tsukishima asked her.
“My day? I guess it was okay,” she replied. Her voice was still light and breathy as usual. Not too high-pitched as to make Tsukishima believe that she was fake, and not to low to make her sound unattractive to him. The perfect voice for arguably the perfect human.
“Do you have Nitro by any chance?” Tsukishima asked her.
“No, I don’t see the benefit for paying for it myself,” she replied.
“If someone got it for you, would you use it?”
“Sure, I don’t see why not.”
“I-I Don’t mid gifting it to you, if you tell me your Venmo, Ill send the money right now!”
“Ok.”
She read off a couple of letters and numbers, spelling out her Venmo for him to gift money to. Tsukishima used his mom’s credit card to send her over $50, with the unspoken promise of paying her back one day, even though she didn’t even know her youngest son stole her card.
They talked the rest of the night, until Tsukishima had to go to bed.
XxX
Tsukishima didn’t let up on his gifts to gamergirl05, or Cat as she started referring herself to. Anything she mentioned offhandedly form a new skin to a longing for a fast food meal, Tsukishima sent her the appropriate funds needed to retrieve that item.
Each monetary gift he sent on Venmo was given a reply of the kissing face emoji.
Tsukishima was over the moon. Not only was he becoming better at volleyball every day after school, but he was also getting closer and closer to Cat. When he found out that he was going to Tokyo for a training camp, he excitedly went online that night to tell cat about how he was going to be in Tokyo and that maybe they could meet up.
“Sorry, but I have plans for that weekend,” Cat said. Tsukishima sighed, but figured as much. He was disappointed, but not surprised.
However, he picked himself up by the bootstraps and packed up his stuff to go to Tokyo for the training camp.
XxX
The weekend was tough. Karasuno faced loss after loss against the Tokyo powerhouse schools. However, the team had learned a lot about both themselves and their offensive and defensive power.
After a long weekend of training, all the guys were sore. All their muscles were aching and screaming, begging for some relief. The coaches complied, supplying all the players with all the watermelon they could eat.
All the players gathered into groups, talking within each other’s friend groups. Tsukishima kept his distance from the others, with Yamaguchi joining in with them. They talked about various topics here and there, but nothing too serious.
Tsukishima was starting to zone out, thinking about Cat, and what she may or may not be doing. He hated to admit it, but he was head over heels in love, even though he had never seen Cat in a picture, much less in person.
While Tsukishima was zoning out, thinking of his unofficial lover, Hinata, Kenma, and Lev gathered nearby, talking loudly about who knows what. Tsukishima wasn’t paying attention, until the topic of discord came up. All his focus then went into listening in on this conversation.
“So you guys are on discord? What servers are you guys in?” Hinata asked.
“Not too many, I bet Kenma’s on a couple though,” Lev replied, only for Kenma to grunt in reply.
“Oh really! What servers are you on, Kenma?”
“Ehh, just a couple here and there. I frequent a My Little Pony server because a mod there gives me money a lot.”
Tsukishima felt a shock run throughout his body. A My Little Pony server? Maybe he was on the same server as him. He would never bring it up, but he was glad to know someone on the server; talking to 12-year-olds all day did get old.
“Wait, someone pays you to be on a My Little Pony server?” Lev asked.
“No, I think he is somehow attracted to me, every time I mention something I want, he sends me money.” Kenma replied, taking a massive bite out of his watermelon slice.
‘That’s kind of odd, who would give money like that to a guy like Kenma?’ Tsukishima thought.
“How did you do that, Kenma? I could sure use the extra cash,” Hinata asked.
“Well, Kuroo taught me to raise my voice like this to sound like some kind of gamer girl,” Kenma explained in a girly voice. Not too high to sound fake, not too low to sound unattractive. Perfect.
Just like Cat.
‘This has to be a coincidence, there’s no way that Kenma and Cat are the same person’ Tsukishima desperately thought.
“Oh, do you guys want to be friends on Discord, so we can keep in contact?” Hinata asked.
“I guess. I’m gamergirl05#0000,” Kenma replied, essentially murdering Tsukishima with his response.
Tsukishima stood up from where he was sitting. Forgetting the fact that he was still supposed to be in a conversation with Yamaguchi, he left the area, trying to find a secluded area, eventually settling for a small ally in between two of the gyms.
Once making sure he couldn’t be seen, he let all his held-in emotions out. He screamed up to the sky as the threw his watermelon rind against the wall, watching it break into numerous pieces.
“My Heart!” he screamed out, “I loved her!” He sank to the ground and let the tears flow. As he wailed out in despair, he covered his face with one hand while knocking his fist against the grass with his other.
Yamaguchi, who saw this all go down, ran up to go comfort his best friend. He didn’t know what was going on, other than the fact that his best friend was a mess on the floor.
How was Tsukishima going to tell his mom, who was already suspicious of him stealing her credit cards, that the money wasn’t being spent on her future Daughter in law? How was he going to log back in on the server, knowing he was cat fished?
He didn’t know what tomorrow would bring. All he knew at that moment was the soft an warm hand of Yamaguchi softly rubbing his back in an attempt to calm him down.

Do you recommend Stormlight Archive? I see the tag every now and then and was wondering if it is a good read? Been looking for a good series for a while now. Do you mind giving me some reasons as to why I should read it if so? :)
The Stormlight Archive is an excellent series and I do highly recommend it. It is my all time favorite book series and has one of my all time favorite characters in it.
That said, if you have never read Brandon Sanderson novels before, I do recommend you start with something smaller first, like the Mistborn series. Stormlight Archive is an amazing read and I could talk myself hoarse praising it, but it does require you to trust the writer, because it’s a very long and very dense story and some of the payoff doesn’t come until later. It’s there, I guarantee you it’s there. But it’s a lot easier to trust that it’s there when you’ve read some of Sanderson’s other works and know you will be satisfied because he delivers on promises so well.
That said, if you want to jump right in and read Stormlight Archive regardless, here’s some of the awesome reasons you should try it:
Brandon Sanderson is just an amazing writer in general. He’s my favorite author and the thing I aspire to be as a writer of my own. I did a whole post about why you should read his novels here that has a lot to say about general style and approach, so I won’t repeat myself here.
Incredible characters. Kaladin is my favorite, but so many other characters are so good and so fleshed out and have so many interesting quirks and strengths and flaws that you really don’t mind swapping to any of their other stories. There’s so fucking many good characters. Even the little support characters have so much personality. You could do a whole series about Bridge Four alone.
THERE IS SO MUCH HURT-COMFORT EVERYWHERE. Listen. You don’t really get hurt-comfort in “normally published” books. Hurt-comfort or whump is like, almost exclusively a fanfiction thing. If characters get injured in a novel or movie or whatever, we never really see them get taken care of after, and fanfic writers usually patch that in on the side. Sanderson is like ‘nope, have all the whump and all the healing,’ and it’s great. We see characters bond over traumas and help each other get stronger and look out for each other. We see characters get injured and other characters banding together to save them and help them heal. We see characters dealing with mental traumas and bad memories and awful pasts and we see other characters helping them deal with it with no judgement, or actually saying out loud that helping people is worth it and the people who need to be helped aren’t worthless. We see distrustful characters slowly learning to trust again because they make friends who don’t let them down. It’s glorious.
There are too many fucking badass moments to name. Most of them are spoilers. But honestly, Stormlight Archive has the ability to sucker-punch me right in the feels over and over again. No matter how many times I read these books, there are at least half a dozen key moments I could name right here right now without having to think about it that feel just as strong as the first time I read them.
The world the books take place in is so freakin cool? It’s nothing like generic-fantasy-Europe. Hurricanes sweep the whole world on a regular basis and people have just learned to hunker down when they come, seasons are only like a couple weeks long and there’s dozens of them, most of the plant-life has learned to retract into rocks to not get shredded in the storms, most of the animal life is varying forms of crustaceans. Horses are about the only ‘normal’ animal in the whole book and they are considered a rarity. (On that animals note, everyone in this world thinks all birds are chickens. Parrots are also chickens. Everything is chickens).
The magic system is A+. Again, not generic wizards-casting-fireball. I don’t want to go into too much detail on it because it gets into spoiler territory but basically it’s really fucking cool and so fucking rewarding, the more you learn about it.
There are tons of different not-straight-white-male characters represented. Most of the characters are POC’s, one of the main characters is autistic (and treated with respect regardless), at least two of the main characters have mental illnesses they are learning to deal with (and again, respected regardless and offered help), the female characters are all well-written and not prizes for the men after they save the day, there’s been a couple of gay characters so far.
It’s not overly political (and by that I mean fantasy politics, specifically). There are some fantasy series I’ve never been able to get into because most of it is hyper focused on the political comings and goings of all the fake kingdoms, who’s got alliances with who, who’s fighting who, who’s married who, who has control of what industries where, fantasy red tape the characters need to go through to get anywhere, etc. It gets super dry and boring for me. Stormlight Archive doesn’t dwell on these things. They’re there, of course, you can’t build a world without giving it some form of political structure, but it doesn’t get so bogged down in the details you want to go to sleep.
Worldbuilding again--there are these things called spren that are just semi-physical manifestations of a concept or ideal or emotion. Is somebody really proud of an achievement they just did? A Gloryspren might appear. Is it raining? Rainspren might appear. It’s just really cool to see them all casually woven into the background like it’s a super normal thing because in this world, it is.
The money system isn’t gold/silver/copper and for some reason that has always stood out to me as really cool.
There are so many twists that you won’t see coming but they will be absolutely satisfying, because all the clues are all there throughout the series, and you just didn’t know how to look for them yet.
Without getting into spoiler territory, those are the major things I’d highlight. It’s a great series. Just remember it is considered high fantasy (alongside works like Game of Thrones or Lord of the Rings), so it is still pretty dense and there is a lot of it. But it’s so fucking good, I highly recommend.

This Chapter: Soda is getting very close to figuring out something he already knows. Soda does a lot of thinking, and a lot of sleeping. Hajime slaps him awake.
_____________________
Soda must have fallen asleep without realizing it.
There was a gentle knock on his door, followed by and equally gentle voice.
“My companion?”
His heart skipped a beat, his cheeks warmed, and his stomach dropped.
He wasn’t ready yet.
“Are you well?” Another knock. “Can you hear me, dear consort?”
Gundham sounded concerned, he couldn’t just ignore him.
“I-I hear you. Just… gimme a minute.” He swallowed. His voice came out raw and scratchy and he told himself it was from sleep.
Soda took a moment to run to the bathroom and check himself in the mirror. He looked like shit, but at least he was clean and didn’t look like he had just been crying.
Had he just been crying? What time was it?
He glanced at the window and saw that the sun was setting. Shit, he must have been out for hours.
He combed his hands through his hair and went to answer the door.
Gundham looked just as concerned as he had sounded.
“S-sorry man, guess I, uh, dozed off…” Gundham didn’t look any happier after hearing that.
“You failed to attend another of our meals, are you… sure you are well, my companion?”
Soda had to fight the urge to cry again. God he was acting like such a pussy today. And now Gundham just looked even more worried. Soda looked away.
Say something dumbass.
“Y-yeah, sorry man. I’m just-” a gross creep who might have feelings for you? A disgusting piece of shit who came while thinking about those maybe-feelings? “I’ve just had, like, a lot on my mind, I guess...”
Gundham raised a hand to his cheek, a gesture that was becoming quite familiar, and Soda let himself lean into it, just for a second. It can’t hurt if it’s just a second.
“I would be glad to listen, should you wish to air your troubles, dearest confidant.” Gundham’s thumb was stroking his cheek. It had been more than a second. He closed his eyes.
Soda’s thoughts were suddenly occupied by the things he had imagined while fingering himself; Gundham fucking him, and kissing him, and holding him, and loving him. Would Gundham really hear him out if he told him about all of that?
And what about everything after? He still wasn’t sure he could bring himself to really be with a guy, still wasn’t sure he could handle everything that came with that.
He opened his eyes.
Even if it was Gundham, he still wasn’t sure.
Soda moved his head away from Gundham’s hand and pretended he didn’t feel the same sense of disappointment he saw on Gundham’s face. He looked away, he was tearing up again.
“I-” He ran a hand through his hair and let out a shaky sigh. “I just, I dunno man, I think I…”
He couldn’t do this. Not now.
He needed to think more, needed to figure out what exactly it was he was feeling before he could know what he was willing to risk.
“I guess I just… need some more time, y’know?”
Gundham gave him a soft, sad smile and raised his hand as if to touch him again, before hesitating and crossing his arms instead. “Take all the time you need, dear consort. When you are ready, I will listen.”
They both stood in silence for a moment, Soda wasn’t sure what to say.
“I… procured some rations from our meal for you. I thought you may be ill and unable to…” Gundham trailed off awkwardly and lifted a plastic bag which presumably contained some food. Soda’s stomach grumbled and they both laughed a little as some of the tension in the air dissolved.
“Um, thanks man.” Soda took the bag from Gundham and paused. Was this just a food delivery? Did Gundham want to eat with him? Or did Gundham want to…
He couldn’t decide which option he preferred.
“If there is naught else that you require of me, then I will leave you to dine in peace.” Well, there was his answer. He felt just as disappointed as relieved. “Please try not to miss another of our group feasts.” Gundham smiled at him before walking away.
The food was delicious. Soda wished he hadn’t eaten it alone.
–
Soda sat in his room for a long time, just thinking. Trying to take all the things Gundham made him feel and sort them into neat categories; were they horny feelings, friendship feelings, or-
Other.
He started with the easy stuff.
When Gundham touched his dick: horny feeling. Easy. Obvious. The way his heart sped up when he did it was just a normal horny reaction. The way he wanted to hold Gundham close when he did it, the way he wanted him to whisper those stupid, affectionate names into his ear and hold him closer still were-
Horny?
Maybe sex stuff wasn’t actually the best place to start.
Ok then, something else.
He started thinking of things that definitely just made him have friendship feelings. Times when him and Gundham had just been hanging out like the bros they were, times like when he had helped Gundham learn to swim and then-
Bad example.
Ok, then the time Gundham had shown Soda his hamsters. That had been a friendship thing for sure.
Yeah, Gundham had been excited, so Soda had encouraged him to talk about them, like a good bro. Then when Jum-P had come out and Gundham had looked sad, Soda had said some cheesy crap to cheer him up, like bros are supposed to do. And after when Gundham had let Soda hold Jum-P and told him he trusted him, but held his hands up anyways because Soda had been nervous, and they had sat so close together that their knees touched, and Soda had felt that strange warmth forming in his chest when he thought about how close their faces were-
That was… friendship? It was friendship, right? All those days ago it had to have been friendship.
Right?
Fuck.
When had those other feelings started?
He knew they were already there when he had fingered himself to thoughts of Gundham, they had been in the dream that had created the whole situation after all. So, before that.
The beach? He had wanted to kiss Gundham on the beach, and he remembered feeling… yeah, he had been disappointed when he realized Gundham wasn’t going to kiss him. He could admit that much. But, had he just wanted to kiss because he knew it felt good? Like, he didn’t exactly have a lot of experience, but what little he did have, he had enjoyed. Couldn’t he have just wanted to kiss because of that?
The way he had felt after though… That had been more than disappointment about not being kissed. That had been panic, the same panic he had felt after fingering himself. He knew what had caused that panic.
Before the beach then?
He remembered missing Gundham after the race with his other friends, remembered feeling so guilty that he had blown off Sonia’s offer to find Gundham with him. Had he really blown her off just because he felt guilty?
The hamster then? Had it been when Gundham had let him hold Jum-P? Those hamsters meant everything to Gundham, and he had just let Soda hold one. The warmth in his chest at that time, had that been…
But he had felt it before that, hadn’t he? He remembered pressing his head to Gundham’s door, embarrassed and overwhelmed because he had thought Gundham had invited him to hook up (had that really been why?) then turning to find Gundham so damn close.
That had been the first time he had wanted Gundham to kiss him, but…
The beach house? Had those other feelings already existed then too?
He remembered the shame of being caught, the rush of inviting Gundham to join him, and how god damned thrilled he had been when Gundham had misunderstood and suggested they get each other off. It had to have been after that right? After he had one of the best orgasms in his life thanks to Gundham and had decided to suck his dick as thanks. After he had seen how hot Gundham was naked, how cute he was when Soda blew him.
After that god damned pact.
Right?
It couldn’t have been before.
Soda had just accepted he was bi, he decided to celebrate by jackin’ it to some good old dude on dude porn, guilt free. He had been in a pretty specific mood, once he got to his favorite site he typed ‘Goth’ into the search and started looking.
Fuck.
Miss Yukizome had just announced they would be taking a class trip to a tropical island in a month. Soda had been psyched to see all the girls in bathing suits, but-
“Gonna let Gundham bring his rats? Dude’ll probably cry himself to sleep every night if you don’t.” He had meant it as a joke. He tried not to smile when Gundham had been given permission to bring his hamsters.
Fuck.
They were cleaning up some event, a banquet for investors or some shit. Soda had been trying to place a box on a high shelf but was just a few inches too short. Suddenly there was a body behind him, almost touching his back, and the box was taken from his hands.
“Didn’t ask for your help, asshole. I had it.” Gundham had just raised a non-existent eyebrow at him and taken over, placing the other items that needed to go on the top shelf without comment. Soda’s heart had picked up because he was angry. It had nothing to do with the sliver of skin being exposed on Gundham’s stomach every time he reached up.
Fucking fuck.
It was his first day at Hope’s Peak and he had never felt more out of place. He was nervous as fuck. A dog had run up to him and started barking, followed by a man in dark clothes. The man had a weird way of speaking, and Soda hadn’t understood at least half of what he said, but he had been happy to have someone to talk to. His chest had felt warm.
Fucking god damned fuck.
That had been more than a year ago.
He was so fucking stupid.
He needed to talk to Gundham.
–
He wasn’t entirely sure he got any sleep.
Sitting at the breakfast table with all of his way too loud friends talking over each other, he certainly didn’t feel like he got any.
He had come to breakfast and greeted everyone more or less like usual, before grabbing some food and taking his seat beside Gundham. He rested the side his face on his hand and willed himself to wake up.
He hadn’t moved much since then, and definitely hadn’t said anything.
He was glancing down at Gundham’s knee between bites of food, remembering how nice it had felt against his own last time they ate together. He wanted to press their knees together again, no one would notice…
“What?” Gundham’s raised voice startled him out of his thoughts. Gundham was staring at Nagito, who had just walked in. He must have said some weird annoying bullshit, like usual, judging by Gundham’s face. “Show me, mortal.”
Just like that, Gundham stood and briskly exited the restaurant, pulling Nagito along behind him.
Soda blinked and rubbed at his face in exhaustion. What the fuck ha just happened. He was going to ask Gundham to talk after breakfast, where the hell had he taken Nagito?
Why hadn’t he brought Soda?
Whatever. He was probably too tired to talk anyways. He gave up on staying upright and let his head fall onto the table, cushioned by his arms.
He dreamt of hamsters and a man who loved them.
There was a hand on his arm, gently shaking him. Soda grumbled and tried to go back to sleep.
The hand swatted him on the back of the head.
“Ow! What the fuck!” Soda sat up and turned to glare at whoever had hit him.
Hajime.
“Everyone’s done eating, dude. Felt rude to just leave you here.”
“But it didn’t feel rude to hit me while I was sleeping?”
Hajime shrugged. “You weren’t waking up.”
“Bastard.” Soda stretched. It was definitely a good thing Hajime woke him up, his back was already starting to hurt.
“So…” Hajime was staring at him expectantly. He must have done something weird in his sleep. Shit.
“W-what?”
“What’s been going on with you lately? Why’re you so tired?”
Oh, nothing weird then, but…
Soda sighed and let his head fall into his hands. As much as he liked spending time with Hajime, he had wanted to talk with Gundham. But Gundham had left already, and, really, Soda still felt like he needed to talk to someone.
“Wanna go for a walk?” Hajime quirked a brow at his question but nodded anyways.
–
They ended up near the beach, the same one Soda had found Gundham on after the race. Soda was still so damn tired, and, really, all he had wanted was some privacy, so he found a grassy spot under a tree and sat, motioning for Hajime to do the same.
They sat in silence for a while, but Hajime’s curiosity got the better of him.
“So, what’s going on Soda? You don’t show up to eat for a whole day, then when you do show, you just fall asleep? You doing alright man?” Hajime was trying to keep his tone light, but Soda could see genuine worry on his face.
“I’ve just… had a lot on my mind, dude. Been thinking a lot.”
“Don’t hurt yourself.”
“Fuck you.”
“You’re not really my type.”
Soda glared at Hajime, Hajime glared at him.
They burst out laughing.
It felt good to just laugh with Hajime, and Soda felt a little guilty that he hadn’t been spending much time with him recently. It was always so easy to just be with Hajime, no need to worry about skipped heart beats, or tender touches, or-
Oh. Was that because Hajime was his friend? Those weren’t things that were supposed to happened with a friend. So that made Gundham…
Hajime noticed Soda had stopped laughing.
“Look, whatever it is you’ll figure it out, Soda.” Hajime placed a reassuring hand on his shoulder and smiled. Soda noted the distinct lack of tightness in his chest at the gesture. God he was stupid.
“God I’m stupid.”
“Well at least you’ve figured that much out.” Soda slapped Hajime’s hand off his shoulder and they both started laughing again.
He wondered if he should tell Hajime about Gundham. He’s probably be cool with it right? Afterall, he was cool with Soda being-
He hadn’t told him he was bi.
How had he not told Hajime he was bi?
He looked over at his soul friend who caught his gaze and smiled back.
“What’s up? Figure something else out?”
“No- well, yeah. But I guess it’s, um, something I figured out a while ago? I just kinda, realized I never told you?” He felt himself starting to blush, maybe he shouldn’t tell Hajime.
Hajime’s hand was back on his shoulder, he was smiling patiently at Soda.
Ok. He could do this.
“So, uh…” He took a deep breath and looked at the sky. “I’m bi?” He blushed harder, why the fuck had he made it a question?
“Yeah, man?” Hajime’s hand was still on his shoulder, he hadn’t recoiled in disgust or anything, so far, so good. “That’s cool. Thanks for letting me know.” Soda was amazed. He looked back at Hajime in shock.
“That’s it?” Soda had pictured his first time coming out of the closet as more… dramatic.
“Yeah? What else am I supposed to say? Congrats on coming out, I guess?” They shared an incredulous look and burst out laughing, both falling onto their backs in the grass.
“Thanks Hajime, really, I guess I, uh, just didn’t think coming out would be so… chill.”
“Yeah no problem.” There was a beat of silence. “Oh. And, um, same, by the way.”
Soda sat up “What?”
Hajime sat up and rubbed the back of his neck, he was blushing now too. “I’m also bi?”
“You’re… what? But you… what?”
“Wow, man, thanks for being so chill about it.” Hajime deadpanned.
“Shit, sorry man. I guess I just, like, wasn’t expecting that? Like I never guessed… huh.” Soda knew he was overreacting. He really had never thought one of his friends would come out to him. “But, thanks for telling me too? Sorry I was weird about it?”
Hajime shook his head and smiled. “Don’t worry, that’s pretty much how I pictured that would go anyways.”
Soda returned his smile and took a moment to process what had just happened. Hajime was cool with Soda being bi, and he was bi himself. Wow. So, they were both into dudes…
Oh no.
“Uh, Hajime? Just so you know, I’m not, like, into you, y’know? Sorry, just, gotta let you know…”
“No worries, I’m not into you either.”
“Wait, not even a little?” Soda was pretty sure he was at least kind of attractive. If Hajime liked dudes, then shouldn’t he be at least a bit into him?
“Not even a little.” Hajime rolled his eyes like he wasn’t crushing Soda’s ego.
“C’mon dude! But I’m hot right? Like you at least think I’m hot?”
“I told you earlier, you’re not my type.” He was smirking now. Bastard.
“Fine then, what is your type?”
Hajime opened his mouth to answer then froze, blushing and looking somewhere behind him. Soda could hear someone’s footsteps passing by.
He turned his head to see who it was.
Nagito.
“Dude.”
“Shut up.”
“Dude.”
“I know. Shut up.”
“But he’s so fucking weird!”
“It just fucking happened, okay? I know!” Hajime’s face was bright red as he hid it in his hands.
“God, you’re such a loser.” Soda punched Hajime in the arm and laughed.
He just couldn’t believe how perfect it all was; they were just a couple of dumb bi dudes who each had a thing for a really weird guy.
They really were soul friends.

“Right,” Roman had said, or something along those lines, and then he had sunk out. Left. Always too scared to own up to his mistakes, and always too arrogant to even admit he made them.
He had sunk out, ended up in his room, because it was the only place he could ever feel safe anymore, what with the looming threat of his brother, who only came with some fun and terrifyingly complicated emotions he always chose to ignore. He’d never related so much to Logan.
He was in his room, and then he was in his bed, the tears in his eyes and guilt cloying at his chest making every movement feel clipped, like the whole world was moving at three frames per second, jumping around instead of the steady stream of ideas his room usually provided. Yes, his room was safe. But he was so, so alone.
He’d collapsed into his bed, wrenched his hands in the soft duvet until he swore he could feel the fabric tearing, and there he’d stayed for God-knows-how-long. He would guess somewhere around the three hour mark, at least since Patton knocked on his locked (always locked) door and he’d given no answer. Then again, Roman always had a way of losing track of time, helplessly locked in place as the hours flew by.
It had been, in fact, three hours and twenty-eight minutes since Roman had done his sort of... controlled free-fall into the bed, and hadn’t moved. His face had a print on the side, likely from the sequined pillow that he had fallen onto by chance - he hadn’t noticed the uncomfortable prick of plastic shards until he got up, rubbing his face with sore hands. He had, in fact, torn the cover of his duvet, but it was nothing he couldn’t imagine away when he was feeling better, or even take a needle to.
His head still felt stuffed full of cotton, but the feeling of guilt worming its way around inside his chest, up his throat was all too sharp. His first course of action was to apologise.
After that, well.
He would burn that bridge when he got to it.
He made his way over to the attached bathroom, splashing some water on his face with sluggish movements, trying to cool off his burning eyes or clear away the redness on the right side of his face. The water helped, however little, and he felt marginally better, more clear-headed at the very least.
Of course, with his senses now unimpaired, he was able to hear the yelling.
At first, it just sounded like some general voice - vaguely Thomas, but could also just be a stock audio of a man shouting into a microphone. Just under that, though, when Roman blinked tightly and focused a little more, was a faint gravel, oh-so-familiar, one that matched neatly with a grinning face and easy banter - Virgil. Virgil was yelling.
Roman dried his face roughly, irritating his skin more, and zoned out completely as he waited in front of the mirror for the red blotches to fade. Virgil’s voice faded in and out, sometimes stopping entirely. Roman couldn’t tell if someone else was interrupting him or if he was just that out of it.
Finally, after what felt like an hour of choppy-but-definitely-not-pleased dialogue and the sound of waves and misplaced bits of the conversation from earlier washing over his head, myriad colours and shapes dancing across his vision, Roman glanced back up at the mirror.
He looked normal - or, well, the normal from the past few months. Before that, there might’ve been a little more colour in his cheeks, or light in his eyes. He smiled, just to test it, and found his smile both reassuring and wholeheartedly wretched. Pretty, yes, enough to fool anyone looking, including himself - but just that. Pretty. Nothing behind it, no real emotion.
Roman straightened his sash. He could work with pretty, right?
“Don’t touch me!” shouted Virgil’s muffled voice, and Roman opened his door.
The first person he saw was Remus, lounging on the sofa cross-legged, his smile just as deranged as usual but his eyes pinched, like he was making a real effort to keep up his... peppy attitude. God, Roman could relate.
Then Patton and Logan, who both brightened upon seeing him, if you could call relief brightening. They were standing next to each other, but several feet apart - almost like they were ready to move, hold someone back. Patton wore a peacemaking smile that was obviously slipping off his face, his glasses sliding down his nose. Logan looked significantly more composed, his hands clasped behind his perfectly straight back (the only straight thing about him, Roman thought automatically) instead of hovering, like Patton’s. Like Remus, his mouth was set in a line normal for him, but his eyes were lidded slightly, not quite glaring but certainly not approving.
And then, of course, like the centerpiece in an odd stage, Virgil and De- Janus. Janus’ stance was defensive, pulled back with his hands raised by his sides. Virgil’s stance was none of that - he’d leant forward, hands thrown out beside him, gesturing wildly. Janus’ face was unreadable, eyes conveying some sort of sorrow, possibly, but mouth set in a classic smirk as he met Virgil’s eyes.
Virgil looked absolutely furious.
Roman’d seen him angry, sure, plenty of times. A lot of the time directed at him. But he’d never seen Virgil truly upset. Like end-of-the-world, life is over, “I’m going to stab you to death with a kitchen knife” upset.
Roman stepped into the living room. Patton threw him a brief smile - a real one, not a “please don’t kill each other on the carpet” smile. Logan gave him a nod, and raised one eyebrow in a silent question, which Roman answered with a smile. His fake smile, but a smile nonetheless, and Logan didn’t seem to mind.
Virgil barely seemed to register that he was even there, continuing whatever point he had started. Roman heard a lot of words, angrily shouted, but none of them that he hadn’t already thought about.
Janus glanced over at him quickly, almost unwilling to look away from Virgil, and gave him a tiny smile, or just the ghost of one. Roman felt a tiny shred of guilt fall away from his chest.
Sudden movement caught his eye, and then Remus was next to him. His smile was gone, and instead of looking insane and slightly worried, he just looked like... well, like Roman.
Back in the beginning, right after the Split, both Roman and Remus were told, separately, that they tended to mirror each other. Completely subconsciously, one would copy the tiny mannerisms of the other. According to Logan, it was painfully obvious, especially when they stood next to each other.
Some far-off part of Roman’s brain wondered if he was doing that now.
“They’re fighting,” Remus said.
“To answer your question, I do have eyes,” Roman responded instantly, forcing down a panicked wave of nostalgia and memories of Thomas’ carpet on his face.
Remus didn’t laugh, but the side of his mouth did quirk up a little bit, and Roman felt like they were kids again, watching Logan and De- Janus debate.
“Oh please, like you’d know anything about being honest with feelings-”
There went that happy thought.
“How long have they been like this?” Roman asked, in part to distract himself from how dry his mouth was all of a sudden.
Remus screwed up his face. “Ugh, time. Long enough for a horse to bleed out.”
Roman blinked at him.
“Like two or three hours. You know I suck at time. We both do.”
Roman had to suppress his flinch at that one, turning his gaze back to the two in the center of the room. “Two or three hours? And they’re still going like this?”
“Oh, you should’ve seen Virgil when he first found out. Entertaining stuff,” Remus said, but it lacked his usual screech of laughter.
“Has anyone tried to interrupt?”
“Almost got decked.”
Roman sighed. “If I asked to talk to... Janus. Alone. Would Virgil kill me?”
“No. You’re the only one he hasn’t actively screamed at.”
“I was in my room this entire time, of course he hasn’t-”
“Or about,” Remus continued. Roman avoided his eyes, suddenly finding the ground very interesting. “In a negative way.”
Remus nudged his shoulder, and headed back for the sofa. Roman didn’t have time to shove away the feelings box that time - but he did have the foresight to hide his reaction to it.
“Janus!” he called, before he could talk himself out of it. Both Virgil and Janus paused, and suddenly Roman had four pairs of eyes on him - Remus was fiddling with some kind of string contraption that Roman really hoped wasn’t going in his room later. “Can I - can I talk to you? Alone?”
Janus looked back at Virgil and then to Roman again, his expression a closed door, and took a step towards him. Roman gestured to his room, and Janus made a beeline for it without hesitation. By the time Roman was closing the door, Patton had already clasped his hands on Virgil’s shoulders.
The last thing Roman saw before he shut the door was Virgil’s face, utterly heartbroken.
“If he asks you to pick a side, don’t,” Janus said the moment the handle clicked.
“Huh?” Roman responded, very eloquently. “Oh! Uh, sure?”
“It’s- he’s already mad at Patton. And that’s my fault.”
“It’s really not,” Roman responded instantly. Janus gave him an expectant look. “I assume he’s mad at Patton for... being your friend? Or something. And that’s fine, I don’t know what happened, but it’s not your fault, right? ‘Cause Patton made that choice and he seems to be sticking with it, and that’s his choice, not yours. So- yeah.”
Janus looked absolutely baffled, and Roman realized all in a rush that nothing he had just said made any sense, but Janus interrupted him before he could say anything.
“I- thank you, Roman. I appreciate it,” he said softly, and wow, did he actually understand any of that?
“No problem,” Roman said, rushing on. “I wanted to apologise. I didn’t - I shouldn’t have made fun of your name. It was mean, and I was lashing out, and I’m really sorry, and it’s actually a really cool name and I didn’t know you were into mythology-”
“Roman.”
Roman shut his mouth so fast there was an audible click.
Janus looked slightly pained, glancing around the room awkwardly. His tongue was moving inside his mouth, but he wasn’t saying anything, like he was thinking of the right words. Roman toyed with his fingers nervously, waiting.
“Okay,” Janus said, and Roman’s head shot up. “I accept your apology, even if I think it was unnecessary.”
“I-” Roman began, but Janus held up a hand to cut him off.
“I apologise too. Comparing you to Remus was low blow, and it didn’t make much sense anyway. Neither of you are evil. You’re nuanced.”
“We weren’t,” Roman mumbled.
“You are,” Janus repeated, frowning. “Years of personal growth have that effect.”
Roman smiled faintly. “Thank you.”
“Just common courtesy-”
“Not for that. But that too, I guess.”
Janus met his eyes, and they shared some kind of look, before he looked at the door again, sighing.
“I guess I should get back to that.”
“I can ask him to calm down.”
“It won’t work, and he has a right to be upset,” Janus said, pointedly avoiding Roman’s silent question. “You should sit with Remus. Make it obvious you don’t want to be involved, and we part as neutral.”
Roman frowned a little bit - neutral certainly didn’t sound good - but nodded anyway.
Janus opened the door.
(stop reading here to avoid the AngstTM cliffhanger and come up with your own ending :7)
(i can’t put another break so we’re using parentheses babey!!)
They stepped into the living room, eyeing Patton, Logan, and Remus, who all wore different shades of “distinctly guilty”.
The room was quiet.
Virgil was nowhere in sight.

1.1 The beginning of the path
August 31, 1991.
The rain is always the same, it doesn't change, but we look at it differently. Autumn rain brings sadness and reflection, winter rain brings slush and swell, spring rain brings joy and thunder, inspiring reverence, summer rain often brings coolness and pulls you out of a hot day into a completely different space.
The young sorceress loved rain at any time of the year. He creates for her an incredible atmosphere of lightness and alienation, which is so often needed by every person.
How relaxing it is to watch the drops rolling down the window, people who have fallen under the "natural" shower, or just sit on the windowsill, plunging into their fairy-tale world, in which there is no evil, but harmony and good reigns.
- Maddie, honey… Come down quickly, " a melodious female voice called from the first floor of the house.
Just as the girl was about to answer, a loud thunder suddenly thundered, causing her to squeak in surprise and jump to the side.
"I'm coming, Mom!" Madeline shouted, and after another glance at the window, she hurried out of the room.
When she went downstairs, she saw a rather interesting picture: her mother was trying to insert candles with the inscription "Congratulations!" into the cake, and her father was licking the cream around the edges and smearing it on his wife's nose.
***
Fergus and Fridesvida Mortimer are the best parents in the world, and they are also talented wizards. They met while still students at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, despite the fact that they studied at different faculties. Father-Slytherin, and mother-Ravenclaw. According to my mother, my father always bullied her, but not because he didn't like her, but on the contrary, in this way he wanted to attract attention. Dad's parents-Richard Mortimer and Adeline-Fryderika Mortimer-never liked their daughter-in-law, and when they had a daughter, and the father decided to leave the family estate, they stopped having any relations with him.
***
Pausing at the doorway, Maddie giggled softly, drawing her parents ' attention.
"My dear! You took so long to get down. We've already thought of sending Crocus after you! Mom chirped, clapping her hands.
Fridesvida Mortimer is the most beautiful woman in the world. Despite her age, she looks like a young girl who has just begun to blossom. Her light brown, soft and silky hair was the envy of any woman, and her eyes were ... blue… With small flecks of emerald, they drive anyone nearby crazy.
Fergus Mortimer — a man with a stately figure, regular features and aristocratic appearance. His jet-black hair was always beautifully coiffed, his small moustache added charm to his face, and his green eyes, which stood out vividly against the background of his figure, aroused admiration and a certain envy. He was always the best-looking boy at school, and after that he remains a favorite for gossip among the ladies.
Madeline Mortimer is a mix of her parents. Genetics decided to play with her, and therefore the different eye color-blue and green is the highlight of the younger member of the family. Her shoulder-length black curly hair, upturned nose, and plump cheeks made her truly beautiful, incredible, and sweet.
- Today is a beautiful weather, I was looking at it ... - I answered and went closer to the table. On it were all sorts of goodies: cupcakes, rolls, fruit and my favorite sweets, and most importantly-a chocolate cake, with various swirls and zigzags, leaves and twigs.
— I still don't see how you can enjoy this nasty weather." Who would have thought that you like rain and dampness! My mother shouted, and put her hand on her forehead with an exaggerated sigh.
"Well, ma-am..." the curly — haired one drawled. — We've already discussed this. Before I could continue, there was another thunderclap, and I dropped the candy from my mouth in surprise.
Rain was rain, and loud noises always frightened little Mortimer. Sometimes, even after the pencil falls, it takes her a minute to recover, what can I say about the thunder.
"Oh-oh-oh... little Maddie is afraid of thunder," Dad drawled, and laughed out loud.
— I'm not afraid of anything!" It was just unexpected! Madeline shouted, wrinkling her nose and puffing out her cheeks as she sat down at the table.
"Of course, of course, you little coward —" my father squeaked in my voice, and threw a marshmallow in my daughter's direction.
- Dad! Mom! Tell him! - unable to stand it, the youngest of the family threw this very marshmallow at him and, raising her chin, grinned, - It serves you right!
"All right, stop messing around," Mom threatened with a finger and glared at Dad. Fergus raised two hands and continued to laugh.
Madeline is really happy. Their family has always been friendly. Of course, there are quarrels, but the conflict quickly passes after the pope pretends to grab his heart and pretend to be ill. She'd always wondered why he worked for the Ministry of Magic instead of some theater, a profession that suited him better.
"Baby..." my mother purred, and slowly walked over to my father, putting her hand on his shoulder. - Tomorrow you will enter a new stage of your life… And my father and I would like to have a little celebration, because you are already so big. Mom wiped away an imaginary tear and smiled. - Hogwarts is a great place where great people have studied and are studying, and I hope you will become one of them… We raised you right.
***
Maddie turned eleven in May. She was very much looking forward to this day, because, like all other children, the letter from Hogwarts must be delivered on time. For a very long time, the girl sat near the front door and looked through the mail hole. And so, at exactly 12: 00, the coveted envelope flew into the Mortimer house, and to a joyful squeak, Madeline ran to her parents ' room. On the same day, the whole family went to Diagon Alley to buy things for the next school year. Of course, she had already walked the streets of Diagon Alley, and each time she did not want to leave there. These old bookstores, the famous Ollivander wand shop, the Gringotts Bank, and the robed wizards all fueled the fire of the desire to go to the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
And she was also worried about the question: "What faculty will they determine?". Slytherin ... Gryffindor ... Hufflepuff ... Ravenclaw ... it's so hard to choose one thing, because each department is good in its own way. After numerous attempts to weigh all the pros and cons, the young sorceress could not come to a single decision. Even talking to her father didn't help her make such a difficult and responsible decision.
"Honey, I understand that this is a difficult choice that can really change your future life. The entire Mortimer family studied and graduated from Slytherin, and I'd like you to be there, too. But we are different, and if you don't want to be in this department, the Sorting Hat will take your wish into account.»

After this conversation, it became even harder, but curly was sure that tomorrow everything would be fine, and she would make the right choice.
"Maddie?" Where are you hovering? "Honey, I think she's gone to Hogwarts ahead of time," my father snapped in front of me.…
- What? Madeline woke up. - Dad! I didn't go anywhere, I was just thinking. I muttered back and hurriedly started eating my birthday cake.
***
After a while, when the cake was finished and the plates were cleared away, Madeline went up to her room and began to look carefully at her room. It was medium in size: yellow wallpaper with a simple pattern made the room visually larger, to the right of the door was a small desk, on which were scattered notebooks and some other accessories. A large black bookcase that didn't fit into the room at all, a gray little sofa that the girl had chosen herself and kept with it even after moving in, and a small bed that was so soft that Maddie often couldn't get up.
The girl went to the desk where the wand was lying.
"The Magic Wand… The real... my ... " - thought the girl. She still couldn't believe that in just a few hours she would be going to the school of her dreams. Maddie made a promise that she would learn best and please her parents. She really wanted to be a Great Sorceress.
After twirling her wand and looking at it from all sides, her gaze darted to Katie, the owl that had been bought for her in Diagon Alley. She was so small, with a brownish-white coloring and big golden eyes. Madeline had always had a special connection with animals, even though she had never had a pet before Katie.
Smiling at the owl, the girl placed her wand on the table and began to prepare for bed.
"Honey?" "What's that?" came a voice from the other side of the door, and the next second my mother's head popped out."May I?" — what is it? " she asked, to which she received a nod from her daughter. She crept into the room, and Maddie smiled. She didn't have any makeup on now, she looked so homely, but that didn't stop her from being beautiful. Sitting carefully on the edge of the bed, Frideswida leaned over and kissed her daughter on the forehead, still smiling. In her heart, she was happy for her, because Medeline reminded her so much of her childhood, when she also opened her cherished letter with a sinking heart and waited for her departure for school.
- My dad and I are so proud of you... know that no matter what choice you make on the distribution, we love you and will always support you! Mom whispered.
— I know… It's just that I'm scared — " the sorceress replied, and felt tears begin to gather in the corner of her eyes. She was really scared of the distribution. She couldn't stop thinking about it.
- Honey… Don't worry... " her mother hugged her daughter, and the girl felt a soothing warmth. Pulling away, she placed her hands on Madeline's cheeks and looked into her eyes. - Listen to your heart… You've always been a responsible and serious girl, so I understand you. Trust your sixth sense and you won't make a mistake — " she said, and with another hug, she quietly left the room, saying good night.
"Thank you," Maddie whispered, and a few minutes later she was lost in the realm of Morpheus, looking forward to tomorrow.

YGO Questionnaire
Tagged by @howaboutalittlehelpneos (thank you, Zen)
I don’t actually use this platform to talk very often-- I’m more often than not content to be a silent lurker-- but this is a fun opportunity to talk about the Special Interest, so hell yeah! Fair warning, this isn’t exactly spoiler free.
Favorite series: This isn’t really a difficult pick for me-- out of all of them, GX is the one that resonates with me the most! There’s a lot of aspects I look for when it comes to storytelling, and GX just happens to check a lot of boxes; I’m a sucker for a good coming-of-age story, and with devotion, deconstruction of common shounen archetypes, well-written representation of mental illness, and even the rare but important sentiment that reckless altruism is not, in fact, a good thing? It’s pretty much everything I could want out of a story.
I know a lot of people say that season 3 is the one that makes GX worth watching, and while s3 is my favorite, I honestly believe that it’s all worth watching; the filler episodes (in season one especially) are genuinely entertaining and really contribute to the show’s theme of growing up and changing, and I love the earlier episodes just as much as the later ones.
Go watch GX-- it’s just so gooooood
I will say, if I had to pick a close second, it would be 5Ds-- GX just has a special place in my heart.
Favorite Protagonist: Most people who know me know the answer to this one-- it’s Yusei. No contest whatsoever.
I have gone on no shortage of long, rambly essays about why I love this boy too damn much-- part of it is just because I personally connect with him in a lot of ways, part of it is just because he’s so compelling and interesting, from the depth of his guilt over something he had no hand in to the fact that his desperation to save people has almost become his sole aspiration. I could talk for a while about how much and why I love him, but I can just leave it at saying that I think he’s a really wonderful character, protagonist, and he gets the serotonin going. (I have a little Yusei charm on my keys that just brings a smile to my face every time I look at it, lmao)
crab boy is the best boy.
Favorite Rival: Hoo boy this was a hard one for me because my taste in fictional characters ranges from holy and good (see: Yusei and Yugi) to literal garbage, so I adore pretty much every rival in every Yugioh series I’ve watched. (minus Jack-- I’m not exactly a Jack fan lmao) But if I did have to pick (and I do), it would have to be Manjoume.
He’s just... such a good character. I think the anime does him dirty in a lot of ways, but his character arc is just so GOOD. He starts the series out with no genuine friends-- just people who follow him around because of his name and influence, but he forms sincere friendships over the course of the series and manages to grow past his fear of loss, and it’s just... wonderful. I was so genuinely proud of him when he could stand up again and resolve just to try again after losing by the final season; it displayed so much growth in one statement and it made me really happy. Is it strange to feel genuine pride for a fictional character? Maybe. Do I care? No.
Honorable mentions go to both Seto Kaiba and Shark, too! It was a tough choice between these three.
Favorite BFF: This is a hard one-- I’d say Johan no contest if I counted him as a best friend, but I don’t because he always read as a love interest to me lmao so I’m just gonna say Joey
I’m really not all that fond of Duel Monsters, to tell you the truth? I find the story flat and while there are some good concepts, nothing ever really seemed to have an impact, but Joey always stood out to me as one of the few characters that actually actively developed and grew as the story unfolded. He was a genuine delight and I appreciate him both as a well-written character and as an interesting narrative foil to Kaiba. I just wish more current media took him seriously and respected him lmao (looking at you, Duel Links)
Favorite GFF: Aki! Easily Aki, even if I find her lack of relevance later in the story absolutely tragic. I don’t really know what I expected when she was introduced, but she proved to be a lot more interesting and well-written than I anticipated-- her backstory is heartbreaking, the spiral she goes down as the people who are supposed to uplift and take care of her reject her and regard her as a monster is very understandable, and she’s just... such an interesting, well-written, and flawed character. I didn’t agree with all of her actions, of course, but I think that was the point in the end, and I wish there could have been more focus on her recovery from everything that happened with Arcadia and her moving forward from Divine’s manipulation and all. There’s a lot of potential there that just didn’t get tapped.
god I love her
Favorite Villain: VECTORRRR
I’m not fond of any of GX’s villains (minus Saiou and Camula), I do like 5Ds’s villains but just not as much as Vector, and as much as I adore Marik, Bakura, and Pegasus... my only justification is just that he’s Vector
(using the squishy Vector, in honor of Zen)
S tier design, genuinely entertaining villain despite how despicable his actions are, charismatic, and actually legitimately competent-- I didn’t trust his little carrot bitch facade the first time around, but he had me several times after that. He’s just... so well-written, so well-performed, and so good altogether. I think he’s the best villain across all of the series.
Favorite Card:
As much as I love my Aromages... Stardust Dragon and Rainbow Dragon have special places in my heart.
Favorite Episode: I also have to go series-by-series here.
Season 0: Episode 7 - “The Underhanded Digital Pet Rebellion”; this whole episode was just a wild ride in concept and in execution, and I loved it-- genuinely wasn’t expecting that plot twist either!
Duel Monsters: Episodes 96-97 - “Darkness vs. Darkness/One Turn Kill” - Again, I’m not big on DM, but I love these episodes just because of how much of a bitch Bakura is the whole way through. Marik and Bakura bickering like a married couple is also good content.
GX: Episode 152 - “Activate Super-Fusion! Rainbow Neos” - I have rewatched this episode a ridiculous number of times-- I just love seeing Judai’s efforts to save Johan finally pay off, and the moment where he saves him again at the end is just... so so good. Easy favorite.
5Ds: Episodes 86-92 (Crash Town)/106-110 - Okay, I’m cheating here, but I couldn’t deciiiide. I loved seeing Kiryu’s arc wrapped up so neatly and just the aesthetic of Crash Town, and then the entire duel with Placido in the WRGP arc where Shooting Star Dragon gets summoned is SO good. I genuinely couldn’t decide.
Zexal: Episode 143 - “The Aloof Duelist ‘Nasch’: The Destined Final Duel” - Not going to lie, I bawled like a fool at the end of this episode, and I picked it primarily because it impacted me so much emotionally. Shark’s parting words to Yuma did in fact make me weep and @howaboutalittlehelpneos can testify.
Favorite decks to use: I mostly use Aromages, but I try to also use my Magician Girl, Crystal Beast, and Junk Synchro deck too!
Fusion, Ritual, Synchro, XYZ, Pendulum, or Link?: I’m a Synchro lover myself, but fusions entertain me as well~
Years in fandom: I’ve been here since April lol
Who am I tagging: I don’t really interact with many people and I’m kind of shy as is, so... whoever wants to?

...And the Beast From the Sea
3x11
Hannibal Lecter x reader x Will Graham
Hannibal Re-Write Series Masterlist
Word Count: 4k
Warnings: spoilers for hannibal, murder, guns, pregnancy, worries of miscarriage
Author’s Note: Dudes I love this one so much. I really really liked this one. It’s hella long but the last one was short so I think that’s okay. I am very excited for y’all to read this one because I made some expenitonal changes to the script which I’m excited for you guys to see. Enjoy!
I used some direct quotes from the script so some things may seem familiar
Official Episode Summary: With a full moon approaching, Jack and Will are certain that Francis Dolarhyde will strike again but they lack a solid lead; Alana gives Hannibal a chance for redemption.
I don’t own these characters. They belong to author/director
Tag List (is always open!) : @llperfectsymmetryll @ericacactus @vlightning95 @sweetgoodangel
(not my gif) (top two @/rocktheholygrail)
“Nightly news countdown to the next full moon. Chicago and Buffalo police are under a media blitz,” Jack said. You, Will and Alana were all in his office. Will had made it a sport to argue against you going with him anywhere these days but he knew he would lose the fight.
“Two days left. And he’s not going to kill again in Chicago or Buffalo. He’s moved on,” you muttered. You were sitting beside Alana. Will was standing behind you.
“Let me fill you in on what’s up for the twenty-fifth.”
“When he does it again?”
“If we have a problem on the twenty-fifth.”
“Not ‘if’. ‘When,” Will muttered.
“He didn’t kill the docket at the museum. What if he’s trying to stop?” Alana asked.
“He would’ve been better killing her. And both of you,” Jack suggested. You pursed your lips.
“I know we don’t get along Jack but that’s just cruel,” you teased.
“You think there's a way to push him to be self destructive?” Jack asked, ignoring you completely.
“You mean push him toward suicide?” Alana asked.
“Suicide suits me just fine,” Jack muttered.
“If he was really trying to stop he’s not going to kill himself. How could he be sure his death would affect whatever's inside him?” Will asked. He had his hands shoved in his pockets, his mind reeling.
“You must know something about him otherwise you wouldn’t have found him,” Jack leaded. You gave him a look. Will gave him a harder one.
“Jack Crawford. Fisher of men, watching my cork move against the current. You got me again.” Will was bitter. You liked it. “Hannibal told me where to find him. He knows.”
-
Hannibal and Francis talked to each other. Francis was relying on this conversation to clear some things up. A couple of things.
“I..put my hand...on her beating heart. Heard the sound of her..living voice. A..living woman. How bizarre,” Francis whispered. Reba flashed in his mind. Beautiful. “I don’t want to give her to the Dragon,” he whispered.
“The Dragon is in your belly now. The Dragon wants her alive, you don't’ have to worry about feeling love for her,” Hannibal explained. Francis looked at Hannibal.
“Is that how you stayed with Y/N?” At the mention of your name Hannibal tensed. Ever so slightly. If Francis wasn’t paying acute attention he wouldn’t have noticed. He read it as something bad. Something that struck something dark in Hannibal that he wished to be rid of. “And Will Graham. He interests me. Odd looking for an investigator, not very handsome. But purposeful. They’re married aren’t they?”
Another slight change in attitude.
Slight.
But there.
And if he wasn’t going to kill Reba then he had to kill someone else.
-
“Yes, yes. I see.” Your voice was quiet. Will watched you speak, your hand holding your other arm. You were on the phone with the neighbors that were watching your dogs. “I’ll be back as soon as I can. Thank you so much for calling.”
You hung up the phone and let out a long sigh. You looked over at Will. You were both standing in one of the main rooms of Alana's hospital. You finally looked over at him and he grabbed your hand gently, bringing you toward him.
“That was the neighbors girls. They say that the dogs have been sick, all of them. I’m going to go home and see to them, make sure it’s all okay.” Will nodded quickly as he held you in his arms. He was happy about this. He didn’t want you here, in harm's way. The safest place for you was home. “I’ll sleep the night, take the dogs to the vet and return the next day. I’ll bring new doggo with me.” You moved away from him to gauge his reactions.
“This is good,” he whispered, brushing a piece of hair out of your face. “It’s safe at home.” You shrugged.
“I like to keep you safe.”
“But you have to think of yourself now. You have to keep safe,” he whispered. “Both of you.” You closed your eyes for a moment and took that in. It sounded so pleasant from his voice. A child. His child. You loved the idea of a curly haired little boy running around that had his blue eyes.
“Two days we’ll be away from each other. And I shall call you when I get there and also when I am about to leave. And probably between that.” He nodded.
“Of course.”
-
“I have to do a little homework,” Francis said. Reba handed him a fresh martini and he took it, sitting on his couch between the projector and screen. Music played softly around them. Reba sat beside him, curious to what he was up to today.
“Sure. If I’m keeping you from working, I can go,” she suggested. He shook his head quickly and realized she couldn’t see him. It would take some getting used to.
“No. I want you to be here. I do. It’s just some film I need to check. It won’t take long,” he promised.
“Does it have a soundtrack?” Reba asked.
“No.”
“May I keep the music?” she asked.
“Um-hmm.”
“I think I’ll stretch out for a few minutes, if you don’t mind.” He started to move so that she could lay down but she shook her head gently. “No, don’t move. I have plenty of room. Wake me up if I drop off,” she whispered. She lied down on the couch, holding the glass to her stomach. The tips of her hair touched Francis' hand beside his tight. He flicked the remote switch on and the projector began. Light flickered and whired across both his and Reba’s face. “Are these your nocturnal animals?” she asked quietly.
“Um-hmmm”
The picture moved down from a bright white moon to find you, smiling and laughing as you moved toward a cabin in the woods, holding a blanket in your hands. A pack of dogs excitedly milled around your feet.
“They know they’re being filmed?” Reba asked.
“No.”
-
You stood in the vet anxiously. As the vet came back in you stood up quickly. You had talked to the girls who were taking care of the dogs and they were just as worried as you had been.
“They may have gotten into something they shouldn’t have. Has there been any change in their diet?” she asked. You took a deep breath and felt the guilt creep in.
“Wi-my husband usually makes their food from scratch. We’ve been out of town with some dog sitters and I told them to just give them canned food,” you explained.
“Was it canned food made in China?” she asked.
“Is it bad to be made in China?” you asked anxiously.
“If you’re pet food. Dogs get poisoned by Chinese pet food all the time. Pet food safety isn't’ regulated the same way as human food. And it’s barely regulated at all in China. There have been thousands of illnesses and deaths.”
All of the sudden you thought about having to call Will with the news that, despite the fact you were having a human child, all the dog ones were going to die. That was a call you never want to make. Ever.
“Are the dogs going to be okay?” you asked, moving the long sleeves of your shirt up to wrap your fingers around it.
“Yes. You got them here fast and the activated charcoal should soak up whatever’s in their system. But it’d be helpful if you brought me a sample of whatever they’ve been eating so we can run some tests,” the vet said. You nodded quickly.
“I’ll bring it by tomorrow.” The vet put a hand on your arm with a warm smile.
“We’ll keep the dogs overnight so we can monitor their recovery. They’ll be fine.”
You nodded with a smile released.

Will walked into Hannibal’s caged room. Hannibal got up from his desk and walked over to the glass.
“I’m not fortune’s fool. I’m yours. ‘Behold the Great Red Dragon’,” Will said.
“And did you?” Hannibal questioned.
“I had a random encounter.” Hannibal looked behind him as the door shut quietly. He furrowed his eyebrows.
“Where’s Y/N?”
“The Brooklyn Museum is closed to the public on Tuesdays, but researchers are admitted. You know that’s when we’d both be going,” Will said, ignoring the question. Hannibal tried to push you out of his mind. Likely just toying with him.
“A sophisticated intelligence can forecast many things. I suppose mine is sophisticated enough. You’re so close to him now. You and the Dragon are doing the same thing at various times of the day,” Hannibal said, allowing his ignorance of you to seep.
“He’s contacted you.”
“How do you imagine he’s contacted me? Personal ads? Writing notes on admiration on toilet paper?” Hannibal asked.
“Alana thinks he’s trying to stop,” Will suggested. Hannibal came closer to the glass and Will did not move.
“To begin to understand the Dragon, to hear the cold drips in his darkness, Dr. Bloom would have to see things she could never see,” Hannibal promised. “She would have to fly through time.”
“There is a family out there who don’t know he’s coming. We could save them. Tell me who he is.”
“I don’t know who he is.” Will studied Hannibal’s face and knew he was telling the truth. “And I do not know the next family, before you ask.” He was telling the truth about that too.
“You’re willing to let them die.”
“They’re not my family Will. And I’m not letting them die. You are.”
-
“I’m sorry to interrupt. You have a telephone call. It’s your lawyer. Would you like to take it?” Alana asked.
“Did he say why he was calling?” Hannibal questioned.
“I called him. To confirm that he hasn’t called you. Not since you’ve been declared insane,” she stated. Hannibal shrugged.
“I could have told you that.”
“If only I’d known to ask.”
“If only.”
“Would you have told me the truth?” she asked.
“In my own way, I always have,” he promised. Alana pressed a button and spoke into the telephone.
“Mr. Metcalf. That’ll be all for now. Thank you for your time.” She killed the call and now her cold anger showed. The door behind her opened and Jack entered. “You were speaking to the Tooth Fairy.”
“I think he’s earned the right to be known by the name he’s chosen. He is the Great Red Dragon,” Hannibal said. Jack approached the glass wall.
“You have hubbed hell, Dr. Lecter.”
“I often do.”
“You got what you wanted. Suddenly, you’re very relevant. There is one way for you to stay relevant...and comfortable,” Alana said. Hannibal thought about it for a moment.
“You want me to speak with the Dragon. You believe he will seek counsel after the next kill.”
“We’ve got to make your contact work for us. Standing trace order for any time you’re on the phone. When he calls, you keep him on the line.” Hannibal inclined his head.
“I can’t refuse him a sympathetic ear. He no doubt needs it.”
-
The house seemed so empty. The dogs gone, Will away. You had to pick them up in the morning and then be gone again. In the meantime, you were staying up late to make as much dog food as you could.
“Yeah and add a little bit of the meat I have in the fridge,” Will said over the phone. His voice was staticy but there. It made you feel safer.
“Alright I think we’re good. Thank you sweetface,” you said, leaning into the phone.
“Anytime. Have a good night's sleep. Drink water. I love you.” You smiled gently to yourself.
“I love you too. Sleep tight!” You hung up the phone and then it was empty again. You glanced at the clock. Much too late. You shouldn’t have kept Will up, he needed to sleep. “I suppose I should sleep too,” you said aloud. You convinced yourself you were speaking to your unformed child rather than yourself. That sounded less insane.
You put the dog food in the fridge and finished up the last of the notes for the neighbors teenagers. You took a deep breath and turned around, eyes catching the green of the alarm monitor.
Caught it just soon enough to see it go dead.
You didn’t realize what that meant right away. Then it hit you. Fear slammed into you and you tensed up completely. You grabbed your phone and shoved it in your pajama pants pocket. You grabbed a knife from the knife block and quietly walked over to the kitchen table, where your keys were. You peaked out the window and saw a man outside, walking up the front steps.
Your breath caught in your throat.
You tried to control your fear as you quietly walked around back. You heard the door jiggle open. You were suddenly reminded of your second body, Will’s words screaming into your heart. Both of you to keep safe.
You suddenly missed Will terribly. You opened the back door quietly and stalked around the side of the house. As you ducked underneath windows you felt your heart beating in your ears. You held the knife tightly in your hand as you peaked around the side of the house to see if he was outside.
The coast from where you were to the car was clear from what you could tell.
You closed your eyes tightly and then opened them just as quickly.
You sprinted to the car and unlocked it on your way. You jumped into the driver's seat and struggled to put the keys in the ignition.
Your attacker had heard the car unlock and he was on the porch now. Gunshots broke your front window and shattered onto your lap. You squealed just as the car started and you were able to pull out.
You, however, were not able to miss the gunshot that hit you in the shoulder harshly. You let out a harsh surprised noise as your arm pretty much went limp. With your other arm you were able to drive away from your home. Your home. The place you had found so sacred. Will’s and yours first place together.
You focused on driving through the dark, winding roads and hoped that he wasn’t following.
-
Will ran through the hospital. A horrible glare of the hospital fluorescents over his face as he approached Jack Crawford.
“Where is she?” he asked rushingly.
“In surgery now.”
He did not seem to be any more eased at that.
“You’re both safe here,” Jack said and Will gave him a harsh look.
“Now is not the time to talk to me Jack. Not the time at all.” Will pushed past him. He didn’t know where he was going. He couldn’t see you. All he could do was pace. He wanted to ask Jack about the baby. He wondered, terribly, if the baby was gone. Two times in a row his child would be ripped from him by the puppeteer strings of Hannibal Lecter he was sure.
Will couldn’t make it make sense. He thought that Hannibal liked you. He thought for sure that you, if anyone, was safe from his wrath.
Jack took his turn approaching Will again, now that some time had passed by. The doctors promised you would be okay but made no mention of the baby.
“You think you might lose me after this, Jack? You think I might go back to my family?” Will asked, teeth almost barred. Jack stared at him.
“For a minute, I did.”
“I want so badly to. If she had died because of this I would have killed you with my bare hands Jack. She warned me against you time and time again. And again. If she had died because of you…” his voice trailed off but Jack got the message. “But then I realized what you realized. I can’t go home, and neither can Y/N, never, until the Red Dragon is out of the way.” Will looked away.
“As soon as Y/N can be moved we’ll put her at my brother’s house on the chesapeake. Nobody in the world will know where they are but you and-”
“She’s pregnant.”
Jack stopped. This information hit him and it sunk in, very slowly. He took a deep breath. He was careful speaking.
“Have you asked-”
“No. I’m too scared to,” Will admitted. He looked back at Jack and shook his head. “But if the baby lived or didn’t, if she is able to walk, she’s not going to leave my side now. She’ll put on a brave face and walk with me wherever I’ll go and you will let her.” He paused, thinking. “I’ll let her.” His eyes lightened slightly. “And even if she didn’t, she wouldn’t want anything from you. She’d be glad to see you in hell with your back broken.”
Something about the truth in that made Jack want to smile.
-
Will walked into the room. You had been awake just long enough to talk to the doctor. Will had been in the bathroom when you woke up but now he rushed toward you.
He practically skidded on the ground to grab your hands. You gave him a weak smile but your face was practically dead. You swallowed and squeezed his hand. Will didn’t say anything for a moment.
“The baby is alright,” you whispered. He let out the breath he didn’t know he was holding. “The bullet hit my shoulder, far away from anything that could harm them.” Now that that was out of the way, he could apologize for you. You had been hurt. That was impossible.
“The dogs are safe. I’m going to pick them up tomorrow and bring them here.” You nodded.
“Bring the vet the canned food.” He laughed dryly.
“I don’t think that’s a priorit-”
“Bring it,” you stated weakly. He nodded, not willing to argue with you right now. You looked up at the ceiling and then over at him, smiling at his pretty face. “I made the food. You have to bring that too, I’m proud of it.” He nodded, kissing your hands he was holding.
“I will.” There was a beat of silence.
“You aren’t going to get me to leave. The second I can sit up I will be back out there with you.” He nodded lightly.
“I wish you wouldn't. But I know.” You looked into his eyes, hard.
“Hannibal did not advise this.”
“He knows about the killer, things he couldn’t possibly know unless he knew about him. There’s no way that this wasn’t him.” You shook your head.
“He wouldn’t. Not to me.” Will believed that, despite it all. He kissed your hands again and stood up.
“I’m going to ask him.” He waited for you to respond but you just thought about that for a moment.
“I wanted to be the one to tell him. But I see now that you must.” He nodded. It would add to the effect, whichever way that effect went.
“I love you,” he said.
“I love you more.”
-
Will quickly walked up to Hannibal’s cage. Hannibal could tell something was wrong immediately. Will looked like he was about to kill someone with his bare hands.
“I’m just about worn out with you crazy sons of bitches,” Will stated. Hannibal raised an eyebrow.
“It hasn’t hit the papers yet. Care to enlighten me on the family this time around? Did the dog make it?” Will stared at Hannibal, dumbfounded.
“You really don’t know do you?” Hannibals face scrunched into confusion.
“I’m sorry, should I?” Hannibal questioned. Will’s lips turned into a bitter smile. He knew that Hannibal had talked to this killer and Will was about to relish in the fact that he got to tell Hannibal his efforts had messed up someone he cared about.
“Y/N went home to tend to the dogs for the day,” Will started, really milking this out. “Dr. Lecter, the killer went for her.”
Hannibal’s mind worked quickly. He took a deep breath in and for once, hung off the words that Will was saying. He hadn’t suggested Francis kill you but he should have known he would. He should have known. He was almost angry at himself for not seeing it.
“Is she alright?”
“Yes.” Hannibal let out a barely audible sigh of relief. For once it was the two men, almost in love with each other but definitely in love with you, just happy you were alive. “She was shot but she’s fine.” Will paused. “She’s pregnant. Still pregnant. You didn’t get this child and you won’t.”
Hannibal took that in quietly. He would deal with that later.
“I’m happy for her. Happy for you both.” Will turned to leave, finished with this conversation and wanting to return to you but Hannibal did not let him. “Will?”
He turned.
“Yes?”
“I didn’t know it was her.”
-
As the orderly came into the room, Hannibal almost jumped up. But instead, he kept his dignity and walked over to the phone, taking it in his hands. He knew that Jack and Alana were listening. He had to keep this careful.
“If I’m not as strong as the Dragon, she will die. I know that,” Francis said firstly, bluntly. “I need to think. I need to think. I told her I can’t be with her.”
“Y/N Graham is not dead,” he pointed out stoutly. Francis did not like that he changed the subject so quickly.
“I chose Y/N because she rejected you. I chose Y/N and she should be dead.” Hannibal straightened his back. “I’m afraid she will come to the house. To talk. I don't want what will happen in the house.” He was now referring to Reba, not you but Hannibal knew how to steer a conversation.
“What made you think I wanted Y/N dead?”
“You insinuated-”
“No. I did not.” Hannibal stared through Jack and Alana, enjoying an audience but wishing these next words were spoken in confidence. “You thought wrongly. You insinuated wrongly.” Hannibal straightened his lips. “Think about how you wanted to hold Y/N in your arms, as she lost blood and her heart quivered like a bird until it went out. Think about it.” He paused, allowing him to think. “Now think about Reba in her place. Because that is what is coming.”
Francis didn’t know how to react to that.
“They’re listening,” Hannibal said and hung up the phone.
Alana and Jack looked betrayed but Alana was all too happy for what came next.
“You’ve just lost your toilet Hannibal,” Alana said.
And Hannibal did not say it but he knew it was worth it.
