Y'all. This took so long. Crochet Eternatus.

The design is so unnecessarily detailed. Like it wasn't complex or hard to do, but just so so tedious. 17 top and bottom spines(?), plus a rib cage with 10 more spine things, 2 3-forked arms with 8-segmented tendrils at the shoulder, 2 3-forked legs, "mask" with 5 top and bottom ridges...

Like the whole thing is just bones!! So many thin bones on a thin long body!! And it's so long and weird to photograph!!!

I'm having a blast thinking about dinosaur designs, especially because these are "fantasy"/sci-fi flavored so, it gives me space to be more open with color palettes and some fancy additional details to them! (I hope I can do something with the same quality for Predaking's ref).

A preview of my artwork for @thewholelemon ‘s wonderful fic “Just Remember Me When” - written for Carry On Big Bang. The full artwork will be released sometime in early august, so watch out for that!

This entire drawing took me 49 hours and 23 minutes, breaking my previous record of 35 hours. Unfortunately my drawing program blurred a bunch of stuff when i merged all my layers together, so bazs entire body is just a little blurry, which saddens me greatly. Ive literally never had it happen before, and it was kind of important that he was C r i s p

it's kinda fascinating to me how welt has been "at the end of his life" for like. several decades by now. he goes on and on about how old and weary he is and how "his job is done" and his story is over but- oh wait i just realized i can phrase this in a very funny way- he's kind of sorta immortal now because he got the herrscher core back, so he's really just stuck in the epilogue for all eternity

so that's what i've been working on for the past 2 weeks! i wanted to draw something for this intro ever since i first listened to it (as a companion piece to my other gur drawing, though it of course ended up being way bigger in scale), but it only really gripped me about halfway through PALISADE ep 18. the next morning after that i listened to this narration on repeat for about 45 minutes and then made a big sketch on 4 sheets of paper at my desk at work.

anyways, i haven't listened to the new episode yet but i think i'm probably ready for whatever they're gonna throw at us with the next sortie. i'm gonna believe, against it all, in millennium break. for gur

i realize this looks finished, but technically i'm still deciding whether to add a background or not lol. still, for the sake of sharing a proper WIP, here's a line or two from an araleyn brainworm WIP that i started reworking yesterday (mild tw for religious guilt and period-typical internalized homophobia from aragon's pov):

She remembers sharing her bed with Anne at Henry's behest, remembers the nights of tossing and turning and trying not to think about Anne asleep next to her-- remembers waking up to dark hair spilling across her pillow and the press of blood-warm bosoms against her own, softer than sin, as hot as the Devil, remembers lying still as death, mouthing prayers into the heat of Anne's neck like an act of penance.

no but im never going to be normal again. LOOK at this. look. IMMEDIATELY before this he gave a whole miserable speech at the graveyard about how much he misses the kids and how he wants them to come home. He was grieving so hard it started to rain. He cried while he sang to them. It was the perfect end to 5 days of grieving- and then he does this.

and the rain isnt about grief anymore- the thunder isnt a peaceful background to a heartbreaking scene. It is rage. the whole context changes. The storm raged on while he grieved like he raged during the Everything Else that happened (“there are a lot of federation workers on today. I need to interrogate them about some things” he said while he was following forever ALONE to distract him. he knew forever was fucked up and about to put more marriage pressure on him and for anyone else that would have been Terrifying. how could you focus on anything but that? but. bad was thinking about tormenting more federation workers)

i just!!!! its so good. its SO good its so scary its so good. bad hasnt accepted the loss of his children but he has accepted how far he will go to get them back. (he will do anything)
