People who say we don't like James because he's "boring" or "not like the other Herondales" do not seem to grasp the fact that when I say i don't like him, i mean that i absolutely abhor how clare placed more emphasis on his physique, his sexual prowess and expertise, and a general fixation on sex and eyeing Cordelia from a purely sexual lens that came at a cost to his characterization, any and all personality traits, and previously established quirks and habits and hobbies such as constant reading, introversion, loyalty to his friends. In fixating on sexual attraction and sexualizing the hell out of him, she sacrificed everything that could've made him a real character that i had adored in the short story. He became a husk with abs and the occassional flash of intelligence and brightness by the end of the trilogy. You could argue that the gracelet kept him in a haze, but i would argue that there are far better ways to add conflict than a magical love triangle device that reduces one of the characters to cardboard. The narrative decision lies with the author. There could've been much better ways to plot tlh and we'll never get to the end of this debate. This could be an opening conversation on grown authors sexualizing teen bodies for the sake of their own imagination and not for sex ed or anything purposeful.

That was the time, obviously. You were not catching a wink of sleep tonight, even though those eyes of yours were pratically burning at this point. Blinking at the bright light which popped up when you clicked a notifaction. "DING!" echoed the phone on full volume: You were just about to scroll through tumblr aud—

Oh.

Oh. . 

You've been added to a groupchat.

Immediately sitting up you rubbed your eyes, curiousity gleaming in them.

You don't remember downloading that app. . Perhaps you accidentally clicked on one of those explicit advertisements on accident while reading on pirated websites, that seems like a plausible explanation. Still doesn't explain why you're recieving notifactions saying your in a groupchat. A groan escaped your lips as you clicked the notifaction, although accepting the fact this was some sort of call-out cancel groupchat, an accidental add, or it's fake and it's a virus. Probably the latter.

     You sat on your bed, legs crossed beneath you, staring at the screen with a mixture of bewilderment and curiosity. That was... ermmm, certainly an experience. These people seemed like some serious kinnies or something. You hadn't seen roleplayers this deep in character since the wild days of Danganronpa Kokichi Tumblr drama. You gnawed at the inside of your cheek, debating your next move. You had things to do in the morning, so maybe it would be smart to just get some sleep. But then again—shouldn’t you figure out which AU to be? They didn’t even give you a proper list of what was available!

     You could at least deduce a few things. Obviously, GlitchBitch was the Error Sans of the group, with his snarky, broken-text vibes. Ink was, well, Ink, and FunkN’Fresh was soo stereotypically hippie, it was a dead giveaway who he was supposed to be. But who else was in this group—this "UnderChat" as Ink called it? And how were you supposed to see these profiles they mentioned? The whole thing was making your head spin, trying to figure it out.

     Still, as you finally set your phone down and pulled your covers over you, you couldn't help but feel a small smile tugging at the corners of your lips. Yeah, it was weird—being added to some mysterious group chat by what seemed like over-enthusiastic roleplayers—but there was something almost... nostalgic about it. It had been a while since you just sat back and played pretend, no matter how weird the scenario... or old the fandom was.

     Maybe tomorrow you’d hit up the Undertale Wiki and find a cool AU to rp as. After all, if you were going to be stuck here, you might as well have some fun with it.

Ice Skating with Them

An: I’ve never ice skated before so these will probably be very short.

Luca Kaneshiro:

As expected Luca will mainly try and goof around on the ice.

He’s a pretty athletic guy so I imagine he has a good sense of balance and control over his body. Therefore I don’t think skating will be that hard for him to learn if he doesn’t already know how.

If you know to skate then he’ll mainly just skate around you and try to do funny tricks to impress you.

If you don’t know how to skate he’ll teach you the best he can. He’ll be very gentle and patient, taking it slow so you don’t fear falling and having complete faith and confidence in you.

Once you get the hang of it he’ll be very proud of you and congratulate you but still will try and stay near you incase you fall.

Shu Yamino:

Despite not being one to touch grass much, Shu is one of those people that’s just good at everything so I think he’s also good at ice skating or at least decent at it.

If you don’t know how, he’ll skate in front of you holding both your hands and giving you words of affirmation and encouragement.

It’s kind of like when a parent or older sibling is teaching someone to ride a bike for the first time and yet he doesn’t make it feel condescending at all.

If you do know how to skate he’ll mainly watch you and ask you to show him some moves.

He’s mainly just here to chill cause you wanted to go and he’s down for doing anything you want to do.

Ike Eveland:

It’s actually canon that Ike knows how to skate. Not only is he Swedish, but he was also a pretty athletic person before arriving in this time period despite his nerdy aura.

He’ll be very excited to skate with you. For him it’s like sharing a part of his childhood and activities from his homeland with you.

If you don’t know how to skate he’ll be more than happy to teach you. Like Shu and Luca he’ll ne calm and patience and share words of encouragement, but I also feel like he’d be a bit more demonstrative and precise.

Demonstrating exactly how you have to move your body and positioning your in the best stance to not fall. Very hands on if you know what I mean ;).

If you know how to skate then he’ll be thrilled and it’ll turn into a romantic montage of you two skating and having fun on the ice before heading home and having hot coco in front of the fire.

Mysta Rias:

Does not know how to skate at all. He’s even slightly afraid to. He flails around like a clumsy foal.

If you don’t know how to skate then unless you two plan on clingy to each other for dear life the whole time or got dragged into going by a friend, then you probably wouldn’t go.

If you do know how to skate and managed to somehow convince him to come with you, then expect to have a screaming fox clingy to you the whole time.

You can try to teach him how to skate, but I don’t imagine it’d go very well…

Yeah you guys are probably better off just building a snow man or something.

Vox Akuma:

I feel like Vox would act like he knows how to skate to impress you, but when it actually comes down to having to skate he looks like a baby giraffe learning to stand for the first time.

He’ll have the idea in his mind of you guys romantically holding hands and skating gracefully across the ice, but instead he’s clinging to the wall for dear life.

If you don’t know how to skate, then that makes him feel a bit better and less embarrassed. Either he’ll suggest you two learn together and you’ll have a lot of fun laughing and falling over, or he’ll suggest y’all just go home and do something else.

If you do know how to skate however, he may be a bit pouty and embarrassed. He will let you teach him though so he can impress you and sweep you off your feet in the future.

as much as i love reading cherik fics, i do have to turn off my brain every time because every fic seems to have a line or two about how mutant issues is the most pressing social injustice. and like as a black person, that line is so tone deaf to me because racism in the x-men world is both visible and invisible, which is actually so true to reality that it lowkey makes me sick.

My biggest pet peeve as a writer and reader of fanfiction is age gaps.

Hear me out.

I’m fine with 20+ x 30+, whatever.

But whenever someone writes Y/N to be 18 or specifically “fresh out of highschool/ in college” x 30+.

I’m OUT. GONE. BYE. NASTY.

And lowkey, I think it’s offensive to the character you’re writing unless they’re already canonically a p3do.

Idc whatever anyone says. If you write a character that’s 30+ with an 18-19 year old, you’ve officially made that character a p3do. Because I can guarantee a 30 year old has no business with a fresh outta high schooler.

20+ is iffy, but plausible.

Now….25+ x 40+. GOATED. TOP TIER.

hello i am thinking about the scene with the twins after their parents' funeral again because it makes me so damn sad, and because that moment really just set them up to develop into the horribly maladjusted adults they are today

like we definitely see how that affected ai throughout her childhood and well into adulthood--it's the first time she ever experiences her grandma favoring oom over her, and that's reinforced by the very real differences in how grandma raised her vs how she raised oom. it's no wonder she ends up developing an inferiority complex about her sister and a strong negative self-concept

but for oom, i think she saw that moment as ai letting go of her hand, rather than her (oom) pulling away/grandma pulling her away. it makes me think of ai's voiceover we hear in episode 2 ("i always made it my goal to take the best care of my little sister, until the day we let go of our hands") and how it fits into oom's perspective too. not only is her older sister, who she loved and looked up to so much, now letting go of her, she's also pulling away right after she hears other people insinuate that oom was the reason their parents died. it's why she's still bringing that up as an adult (episode 11) and why she needs ai to choose her so desperately--her guilt over their parents' death and her feeling like a burden because of her illness is completely wrapped up in her belief that ai doesn't love her anymore/hasn't loved her for awhile. for ai to choose her would be like absolution

and the most tragic thing of all is that oom did reach back out for her when they were kids--ai just wasn't looking. and doesn't that just sum up their entire relationship

Previous reblog goes just as much for competing takes on a single character or ship as it does different ones competing with each other, imo. I think berating people for getting your blorbo wrong is less likely to get you 'correct' fanworks or analyses and more likely to make people too nervous about messing up to engage with them. I keep running into people with those anxieties and it really sucks.

If a misunderstanding is common it can be frustrating, but unless someone's being bigoted or an ass about it there's nothing morally wrong with that. If you overlook something major you can always just... go over the source material again and handle them better in future works, and the former still might end up as someone's favourite! My own favourite fic makes an assumption that I'll die on a hill against and it still changed my brain chemistry.

This especially goes for more complex characters; the harder one is to understand, the likelier it is that you'll never find clear, indisputable answers to every question you have about them because they may not exist. Even people who post about them like it's a full-time job can't be omniscient.

So wanting to be meticulous is great, but don't let perfect be the enemy of good! I'm saying all of this as someone who struggles with perfectionism myself. If we can apply the 'two cakes' metaphor to everything else about art, why not characterisation too?

I'm ngl I'm so insanely against the HBO reboot of HP it's actually consuming my entire mind atm like what do you mean you're platforming a terf and rebooting movies that aren't even 25 years old and putting kids through that AGAIN did we not learn from Tom Felton or Dan and Emma distancing themselves and publicly going against JKR like? Could we not?

Y'all could've gotten the same amount of profit from a half decent tv series based in the HP world with her nowhere near it and instead you recreate what's been adapted already...bc jkr is sad some bits were left out?

Maybe I'm so immersed in the world of HP fanfic (don't ask me what I read I have trauma and I am a bisexual gifted child I am already ashamed dw) that I don't see a audience craving this but I rly think it's not what any fan (as much as anyone can truly be a fan at this point with how diabolically evil jkr has become and how inherently problematic the worldbuilding was) would actually ask for

Nijisanji En with an Actor S/O

Doppio Dropscythe:

When you joined Xsoliel you had joined the theater club. You had a love for acting so you thought that it’d be fun.

You were in many plays and worked up to being one of the usual picks for lead. Doppio was so proud of you and would be in the front row for every performance of yours.

However this time you were in the classic play of Romeo and Juliet. On top of that you and your costar were really close with one another in order for you to have good on stage chemistry.

This didn’t sit well with dear old Doppio.

Sometimes he’ll sit in on practices and just get all pouty whenever you have a scene with your costar or as he calls them “his love rival”

If you ask him why he’s pouting he won’t admit it though.

He’ll also get really clingy and possessive about it too. Always touching you, especially if your costar is around, and trying go draw you attention away. Might even flash his fangies at people.

You eventually catch on and either he’ll deny your claims and act like he doesn’t know what you’re talking about, or he’ll look like a puppy who did something wrong which will incline you to give him extra attention.

He’s a jealous giant and we love him.

Ike Eveland:

You and Ike were working on the same movie/play. However while you were and actor, Ike was the script writer (and helped with the music and mixing sometimes).

You guys were working on a romance movie where you were one of the romantic leads. What was worse is it was a pg-13 film so you definitely had some suggestive scenes in there too.

As much as Ike hated to admit it he was feeling pretty jealous.

He knew that it was all part of the job and just for show, but he couldn’t help but wish it was him doing those things with you instead.

Because Ike is ashamed of his feelings he may become a bit quieter and distance himself a bit.

Throwing himself into his work so he doesn’t have to think about the green eyed monster gnawing at his heart.

Once you notice it and talk to him about how it’s normal to have these feelings and how he shouldn’t be ashamed of them expect him to get a bit clingy with behind closed doors.

In public he’s as professional as ever, but when you two are alone he needs to make up for lost time ;).

Luca Kaneshiro:

You were a famous actor working on your latest film. Of course Luca being the big important mafia boss he was and since he was one of the people funding productions, he was able to come watch you work.

Of course he loved and supported everything you did, however he wasn’t so supportive of your costar.

And he wasn’t subtle about it either!

He knows what a big, scary, and intimidating guy he can come off as to some people and baby is petty so he uses that as much as he can.

He’ll come up to you after shoots bearing gifts like coffee and snacks and just glare at your costar while you’re not looking.

He’ll also be very touchy and clingy in front of them to show that you’re his S/O.

If you take a break between shoots to hang out with him and start talking about your costar he’ll try to change the subject. He’ll also get pouty when you have to go back to set.

He thinks he’s being subtle, but you notice everything. If you point it out unlike Doppio, he’ll fully admit he’s jealous while wrapping his arms around you and pouting.

He’s a jealous puppy give him love.

Ren Zotto:

You and Ren also work on the same movie. You’re one of the actors and he works on the music.

While Ren is indeed jealous of you and your costar, he tries to make light of it and joke it off.

He trusts you and knows jealousy is normal especially when you have an S/O as amazing as you. It makes him feel proud.

Of course that doesn’t mean he won’t feel the need to be a bit possessive sometimes. He’ll be more flirty affectionate with you in front of others if that was even possible.

He’ll try to make friends with your costar but also lowkey try to subtly make them understand that you’re his S/O.

He’ll also be more cuddly when you guys aren’t working.

Overall he’s pretty lighthearted about it, but not above jealously.
