25 decembrie: Nașterea Domnului / Crăciunul

Domnul nostru Iisus Hristos, Mântuitorul lumii, a fost crescut de Sfânta Fecioară Maria în orașul Betleem, în timpul domniei împăratului Augustus (Octavian). Cezarul Augustus a decretat că va fi făcut un nou recensământ în întregul imperiu, ce includea și Israelul palestinian. Evreii erau obligați să fie numărați în orașul din care provenea familia lor. Sfânta Fecioara Maria și Dreptul Iosif, de vreme ce descindeau din casa și familia regelui David, au trebuit să meargă la Betleem pentru a fi numărați și taxați. La Betleem, nu au găsit nici un loc liber la hanurile orașului. Astfel, Mântuitorul lumii a fost născut într-o peșteră ce era utilizată ca staul.

with all of the time that flew by with anastasiy having to find out what a person's regular routine consisted of now (specifically, someone that he 'needed' to kill), the more the doctor couldn't help but feel like there must've been something wrong with him. like maybe ana had always had it in him to be following people in order to condemn them to death; it just took a whole lot of desperation, as well as fear to get him to take the plunge into exploring this unsavory part of himself. but at the same time - wouldn't ana have shown signs of being unempathetic before if this were the truth?

either way, he thought, the definition of insanity was said to be 'doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.' which was something ana hadn't experienced (and hoped he wouldn't ever) throughout his time with what felt like manja trying to teach him some sort of twisted lesson. a sigh escaped his mouth as he looked back down at the map he held to log all of the locations ana's new 'target' had marked him at for the day. this particular man was looking to transform an empty building into a restaurant of his own, which he'd been working tirelessly to paint the walls of for about a week now. though it was always with someone else.

today, though, as anastasiy was following the man quite a few paces behind him... he'd noticed that he was alone so it was now or never whenever it came to killing him. the man seemed to be winding through the streets way faster than usual however like he was in a hurry and ana could barely keep up. it seemed like only a matter of time until he lost sight of the man, which happened quicker than he'd thought; but because yellow police tape was blocking the usual route he took to this building of all things. anastasiy bit onto his bottom lip below his mask afterwards, before quickly turning around; only to come face-to-face with another masked person.

it felt like it took all of ana's willpower to not curse under his breath as he was not expecting anyone to be behind him at all. the doctor tried to calm his heart afterward by taking a few deep breaths, clutching his chest for a moment. a slightly awkward chuckle soon took to filling the silence, ❝ oh, Iisus (jesus). you scared me. i, uhhh... ❞ anastasiy had to come up with something to not raise the other's suspicion. he looked around for a moment before getting an idea that might just work.

❝ i heard that something had happened here, and i've come to help. i normally like to stay in the background because i'm just an information broker... but one of my friends lives in this neighborhood — so, this became kind of a personal matter, as you can imagine. ❞ in ana's mind, this was the type of cover-up that he'd want to use: something that was vague but also gave enough info out to seem legit.

but still, now he just signed himself up to be roped into this investigation somehow, which was a lot less than ideal. oh well; anastasiy supposed there would always be another time to kill that man.
