ii ship discourse makes me want to kill people. why are we talking about this pedantic bullshit when there's so many more interesting things we could be talking about with this show. it feels like the fandom doesn't even care about the story half the time man it's exhausting

Okay so Imma be honest here. 2/10. Wow I don't like a popular pair who could've thought.

The thing with Salt/pep to me is that I don't really like the general treatment towards Pepper when it comes to Salt. I know that the show kinda just made Pepper to bre Salt's best friend with a weird sapphic tension but I have noticed things about their relationship that really do show that meanwhile they can hang out well, Salt is never truly there for Pepper at all.

Pepper has to deal with Salt's obsessive crush on OJ and she can't really even shut up about him at all, and whenever they talk, it feels like Pepper just... agrees with Salt and when Salt doesn't approve something, she starts panicking. But they're surrounded by others so their relationship doesn't fall despite being pretty. Not so mutual on being there emotionally for your friend.

The thing is that the alternate dimension on episode 12 season 2 kind of shows that they're doomed to fall/that Pepper will truly never get her closure. Of course that Pepper loves Salt dearly (to an extent), but it's kind of implied that they ended up having physical fights because Pepper stood up for herself, and yet, Salt still forgave her. Maybe they're codependent and that's why they can't let eachother go, and Pepper finally killing Salt is just. Shocking.

Because she tries to explain herself but is so hurt once she stops talking. Salt did some real damage to her, although Pepper isn't completely innocent, but she suffered the most based on how weak her self confidence is and how quick she was to ask Salt that she also was important to the duo, only to be met with Salt basically telling her "You just... kinda are there and do what I also do".

And that hurted me in a personal level I'd say? All things considered. I just really don't like Salt and I don't like shipping her with anyone (therefore my monogamous Salt hc. also i do ship her with redeemed Trophy though but they are NOT okay), and I don't think that she's emotionally available for Pepper, not even as a friend. I'd really like to see Pepper blossom into her own person too. To be more than Salt's shadow. And seeing Salt growing because of that.

I do think that in other settings (such as swap au's where they take OJ's and Paper's place) they are really nice all things considered so like.

On AU's? 7/10

On canon? Nah.

Just to be clear, I’m not a proshipper but I do enjoy some suitcase ships. However I’ve been unable to enjoy them and actually started to get uncomfortable shipping suitcase with anyone other than balloon because of people not liking it.

I’m fairly certain it’s because people headcanon suitcase as a minor and everyone else has adults, thus why people not liking it. I’m not sure why balloon is the exception though.

And I would say the people who headcanon it aren’t in the wrong, it’s a silly headcanon with no bad intent, but I think some forget other people have different views and suitcase was never said to be a minor or even implied.

I hate these kinds of people who don’t like when someone doesn’t have the same headcanon has them even though they are doing nothing wrong. It really sucks

What I Think is So Interesting About the Knifecase Discussion Happening Rn is That People Get Angry When You Say Knife Is a Violent Aggressor Type When the Show Itself Pulled an Obscure S1 Incident That Could've Been Forgotten/Retconned Back Into the Limelight Specifically To Keep That Aspect of Him Present in His Modern Characterization, Even if It's to Show Hes Moved Past That.

Knife Being Like This is Good, Its Thematically Potent. If ii is Going to Go for a Theme of "You Can Do Bad Things and Change But People Aren't Required to Forgive You" Knife is a Decent Smaller Scale Version of That, and I Think His Conflict With Marshmallow Could Be an Effective Parallel to Mephone and the Contestants Whenever That Comes to Fruition

okay, I have been really wanting to get this off my chest for a very long time since I joined the ii fandom and watched s2 and s3.

when watching and analysing everything, something really did not sit right with me, and that is the treatment of sapphic ships in the show. sapphic relationships in the show are treated very differently compared to gay and hetero relationship

a relationship for a hetero couple in the show can usually go like this:

the two characters, male and female meet for the first time -> they start to interact frequently and start to form a "bond" -> halfway through the series, something happens between them, causing their relationship to fall apart -> but a few episodes later, they make up, and all is well -> fanbase really likes ship -> creators make it canon

however, a relationship for a sapphic couple in the show goes a little something like this:

the two characters, both female, meet for the first time -> they start to interact frequently and start to form a "bond" -> girl 1 starts to visibly show romantic feelings towards girl 2 -> a few episodes in, girl 2 does something "toxic" or "mean" towards girl 1, and their relationship falls apart and it is like that for the rest of the show -> fanbase deems it as "toxic" -> creators don't even give the ship a second chance

or alternatively:

two characters, both female, start interacting for one or two episodes -> they seem really into one another -> they never have a single interaction ever again after that

like. ship what you ship. i don’t care. i have good friends who don’t mind or really like tacocse and i don’t care but i fucking. THEY. 0/10 on a romantic setting.

7/10 on a platonic setting.

It's pretty much one of my discomfort ships, mostly due to how the fandom treats it as the only other alternative to an healthy Mic ship when there are far more interesting dynamics out there, both with masc and fem characters.

Although I can... get? Why people can like them? Because of aesthetic and such? I personally just think that they're really boring as a couple. Even outside of the fanon, Soap is just... a very under-developed character and it's kinda hard for me to see her in a relationship like that with Microphone, but again. I AM a very picky person when it comes to Mic ships and I haven't really seen an wlw ship that I like for Mic (since the fem characters are just very specific too I'd say).

I didn't mind them for a while but afyer bad experiences with shippers on the fandom I kinda don't want to see it at all? Although I think I just still dislike it but not as strongly as before. I don't care much about it.

I do really like their friendship though. I usually headcanon them as having a sort of sister's dynamic, but in any case their friendship is just nice and I think that's what matters.

There are far better ships out there though, but I can get it. Definitely not for me and I'm still bitter.

my hatred for fan is purely theatrical BUTTT i do think he would make a shitty dad and personally not a big fan of the idea of fantube being canon (i’m not a fan of any ship being canon)

Summary: a requested short story on Koala delivering the news of Y/n’s bounty to Sabo.

Koala’s head leans back, letting the cool breeze blow out the strands of hair from her face. A moment of peace shattered when a rolled up news paper drops from a sky delivery, right into Koala’s lap, spraying the pages everywhere.

“Freakin birds I swear-“ Koala’s quite cursing halts seeing a wanted poster Monkey. Y/n, 100,000,000 berries, your full photo on display for all its glory. “WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAT?! WHAT?!” She screams to her self, haphazardly strewing the news articles until she locates the bounty explanation.

Monkey. Y/n, wanted dead or alive for a 100,000,000 berries after brutally assaulting a Marine Officer for implying husband, Monkey D. Luffy, of negative behaviour. Y/n’s unprovoked attack and straw hat pirate association has earned her a large bounty for a new comer. It is yet to be confirmed if Y/n is part of the straw hat crew or acts independently.

Koala bolted throughout the hideout with the wanted poster in hand to the only man with an explanation. “SABO!” Koala yells, shoving the wanted poster so close to Sabo’s face, all he could manage to see was a big ‘W’. “Look at this! Can you believe this? I thought we were friends and she didn’t even bother inviting me to the wedding! Did you know she got married?! Why wouldn’t she tell me?!” Koala pouted.

“Calm down a second would’ya. I can’t even see what you’re talking about.” Pulling the poster from Koala’s hand, she retreats with her arms crossed over her chest, a grumpy expression holding stead.

Monkey. Y/n.

A small smirk breaks across his lips. It’s good to see your still alive and well, and wrecking havoc like you swear you wouldn’t when you last met.

Figures.

“Well Koala, what do you want me to say? I even officiated their marriage.” He says with a taunting smile, making Koala gasp in betrayal. “Relax, those two have been married for 12 years now.”

“12 years?! But they’re only-wait… 12 minus… hey, that doesn’t make any sense! You’re saying they got ‘married’ when they were only kids? So it’s not real.”

“No. It’s real.” Sabo says smiling softly once again as he looks at the wanted bounty. “That’s my little brothers wife.”

“So, you’ve got a bounty now.” Sabo says into the transponder snail.

“I got a what?!” You yell back into the snail, the volume of your exclamation causes the sound waves to crackle.

“It reads Monkey. Y/n wanted dead or alive for 100 million berries.” Sabo says which only makes you scoff.

“I didn’t even do anything! How did I get that large of a bounty?!”

“It says you assaulted a marine officer.”

“……he had it coming! No one talks trash about Luffy. Man, this is so embarrassing, now the world thinks I’m married to that loveable doofus.”

“At least you finally have a family name right?“ The transponder line turns silent. Sabo knows you well enough that your smiling. But what he wasn’t expecting to hear what you admitted next.

“Yeah … it is actually. Monkey is a cool last name…and now it’s mine.”

“Seems like Luffy finally worn you down huh? So, will you join his crew?”

“I decided that-“ a loud explosion sounds off in the background. “THE SHIP IS UNDER ATTACK! Ugh! I gotta go Sabo, I’ll talk to you later.”
