Wait a damn minute...

Ok, so I was rewatching season 2 episode 8 (totally not because I was looking for hot air balloon references fornoparticularreason and whatever that totally no particular reason is definitely doesn't involve Suitloon) but while I was watching it I noticed something that I did NOT catch my first time watching

I not only did not remember this line at all (but he deserves it he sucks or maybe they made him suck? Idk) but also I'd like to point out everyone's reaction.

Pretty much everyone is just like "wtf?" However two notable ones are Knife's and Paintbrush's reaction.

Knife looks kind of sympathetic but honestly more confused, probably a "why are you talking about this" with a hint of sympathy. I would NOT be surprised if Knife doesn't have the best relationship with his parents himself, it would explain a lot of his behavior in season 1 and most of season 2.

And then for some reason Paintbrush looks particularly sympathetic. I'm not going to lie because of Paintbrush's reluctancy to tell people about their identity for a long time I already had a guess that they might not have had the best relationship with their parents. But this just straight of confirms it.

Yes they could just be sympathetic with the situation without going through it themselves, but it seems like an odd detail especially when other characters that usually show MORE sympathy don't seem to be showing any.

The things you randomly find when you're just trying to get references for a ship kid- I mean what?

Alicent offering up Aegon's life was the ultimate sacrifice, and there is no surprise that yet again, it is religiously coded. God himself offered up his firstborn "only-begotten" Son, Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for the survival of humanity. Alicent's pain for having to do the same with Aegon is immeasurable. Did she think she was actually redeeming Aegon if she condemned him to death, thus giving him a new birth? Did she want to save him from a life of disgrace and disability? Is it his turn to become a sacrifice for the good of her family as she had become?

Like God, Alicent had to offer what she held dear for the survival of all her children and family. Aegon being her firstborn, the carrier of her flaws and the mirror of her psyche, was the only choice. His fate has always been so linked with hers that in sacrificing him for her and her daughter’s freedom, in severing the umbilical cord with him so abruptly, she condemns her own life to death in the process. That’s the only way Alicent can pay retribution for everyone's sins, and Aegon's messianic sacrifice can ensure peace, deliverance, and hope. She's the one who, like Viserys said, "must do this" and pay the highest price ever paid. She makes the ultimate sacrifice at the expense of herself and her son and in effect has done much more to unite the realm than Rhaenyra ever has.

II 16 Spoilers Ahead!

So I see a lot of people panicking that the contestants aren't real, but I don't that's what the whole "MePhone Created Everyone" was supposed to mean.

Because yes, MePhone made them and we see Suitcase and Knife glitch at the end, but we also see repeatedly that the contestants have their own souls and free will. Sure, there is definitely parts of them that MePhone came up with; such as PB's fire and the S2 Finalist not remembering the S3 time skip, but we see again and again the contestants doing things that MePhone does not want.

Case and point: Taco. Everything about Taco. Not only was she secretly smart without MePhone knowing, but she 1. tried to steal the million dollars, 2. hid in the woods for who-knows how long, 3. conspired with and manipulated running contestants, 4. kidnapped his assistant, and 5. took over the show for an entire episode. If MePhone had control over her then none of that would have even happened.

Outside of Taco, almost all of the contestants do things that MePhone does not want, such as:

Bow never leaving no matter how many times she was punched with the Fist-Thingy

The eliminated S1 contestants trying to escape Idiotic Island

Paper going insane and everything with Evil Paper happening

The Cherries launching Marshmallow to space where she would be unrecoverable

OJ suing MePhone and threatening to do it again

Tissues making MePhone sick

Suitcase developing horrible anxiety and hallucinations

Microphone taking Taco's deal

Lightbulb using Fan to fly (which we see MePhone call out as cheating)

Marshmallow running away to live in Purgatory Mansion

Lightbulb and Test Tube traveling back in time

Paintbrush painting Steve Cobs and then burning the entire field

Lightbulb and Test Tube finding the Gemories

Fan rushing out to get the egg

Knife not telling MePhone about Taco

Fan and Test Tube creating Bot to bring back Bow; who MePhone did not like

The Eliminated S3 contestants being able to go back to the hotel

Box getting hit with a hammer, falling down a mountain, and then bursting into flames when MePhone did not have a medic

The Floor not being able to be eliminated and almost erupting the volcano

Blueberry faking his own death

Silver Spoon letting his aura get the better of him and almost killing Candle

Lightbulb avoiding telling everyone about what is happening

And those are just the things that are coming to mind, I'm sure there are things that I missed, but there's even more compelling questions. If the contestants are fake, then why do they need a place to go when eliminated if MePhone could make them not exist anymore? What about everything going on in Hotel OJ, Idiotic Island, and Indefinite Island without MePhone knowledge; especially for the last one since he didn't even know it existed until Ep10. If the BFDI crossovers and Nickel's early comments in S1 are to be believed, then at one point Nickel had somehow tried to join BFDI instead!

Even in II 16, we see that the contestants can have their life sucked out of them, which shouldn't be possible if they don't have souls, meaning that they have to. There's also how Bow and Dough are both ghosts and how everyone can be body-swapped in S3 Ep8, or even how MePhone can revive them in the first place with all of their memories and personality intact. None of this should be possible if the contestants are fake.

That's not even mentioning that we already know what a fake contestant looks like with the replicas that Spring made in S3 Ep13! They can't talk and they have few emotions, which is in complete opposition to everyone else in Inanimate Insanity.

Even if MePhone made them in the first place, there is so much saying that yes, the contestants are real.

The fact that the season is over, and we didn’t get another Alicent x Aegon scene hurt me the most 💔😭 It was so tragic that Aegon left the Red Keep alone, without having spoken to his mother and never knowing how much she worried for him. Never being awake all the nights she spent by his bed. I so wish we saw them interact once more, which would then make Alicent’s sacrifice more meaningful/comprehensible.

Can you imagine Aegon’s reaction when the first thing he learns in S3 is that KL has fallen and his mother aided Rhaenyra in exchange for his head? And Alicent’s astonishment at finding Aegon is gone, (I still like to think that she had warned Larys about what she would do in order to save him)? Or what about Rhaenyra when she finds out that Alicent “betrayed” their agreement when Aegon is nowhere to be found, and she can’t kill him?

I know that what we got sets up more tension in S3 with Alicent, Aegon, and Rhaenyra, but I would love one more farewell scene.
