Igorot na parang hindi

Bilang half-half (Igorot-Tagalog//Tagabundok-Tagababa), hindi maiiwasan iyong pagkalito sa kung "sino nga ba talaga ako?"

Laking probinsya ako, probinsya na mas malapit sa syudad. Laking bundok din naman, bundok na mas madalas na nasa paanan nito. Pinapaligiran din ako ng mga native Ibaloi/Kankana-ey/Ilokano speakers, na kahit naiintidihan ko ay binibulol pa rin kung magsasalita ng mga wikang ito.

Kaya hindi ko maintindihan kung bakit parang asong hinahabol ang sariling buntot ang nagiging kalagayan ko. Hindi ko masasabing Tagalog ako kasi malay ko ba sa karamihan ng "relatable (stereotypical) Filipino kid"? Hindi ko rin naman masabing "Igorotak" kasi medyo baluktot ang Igorot tongue ko at hindi rin ako marunong magsaka o magtayaw man lang.

Nakakahiya lang kasing maging mangmang sa napakaraming bagay.

Hindi ko memoryado ang aking Family Tree dahil hindi ako madalas sa reunion at malilimutin ako kapag pangalan ang usapan.

Saka nagiging agam-agam din ang katotohanang hindi sapat ang dugo para masabing ang pinanggalingan mo ang iyong pagkakakilanlan.

Masasabi ko bang Igorot ako kung hindi ko naman lubos maipaliwanag kung ano ang kasaysayan, kultura, at paniniwala ng mga Igorot sa wikang Igorot(Ibaloi) din?

Found an article about Tor Saguds and his purpose of illustrating a book introducing the Igorots and their culture. His book is entitled 'Igorotak' which translates to 'Igorot Ako' in Tagalog, meaning I am Igorot in English.

Not only was it Tor's goal to showcase the Igorot culture in a visual manner for easier understanding but also was a response to the misconceptions about the Igorot people. According to Tor sagud in the article, he says that there have been misconceptions about Igroots, some have depicted Igorots as "pagans, barbarians or cannibals, which, of course, they are not." “In fact, they're civilized and kinship oriented,” he adds.  

As I was trying to look for other designers that may have created work centred around Igorots, I came across this story book that had. a similar visual tone to Tor Sagud. It may come in handy if I draw people for the cards or on the packaging.
