is it an old rope frayed because of dirt and time, grips—yours and mine?

or is it a living vine engorged with water and wide, grown a capable guide?

i have fear from memories of the tip toe, the almost stepping—afraid of falling, again

and i have time, the experiences to call on and cross-examine—tools to prevent falling, again

but there is the pondering of *what if i turn away from the forest and lonely rope? the whole world separate from the brush and vine is no less divine*

in this is the acknowledgment of my yearning of the *other side*, the greener the grass, the happiness that lasts; *a human like me that likes me and a dog in the plains could bring no pain*, is thought

and i

i am just and i am fire

i collect blades and musical instruments

keep my eyes high but only for the sky

and the life that is without another is a life lived up until now

so, in the fork, i tent at this border, sit with indecision and let my head bow

because with my ears more level to the ground i can hear strange oscillations from the rope, the vine and its growth

and i start to whisper a melody with the earthen rhythm

one that lets me sway in my half-standing and begin the impossible full understanding
