You'd think it'd get routine. In some ways it does. In others… well the difference lies in the feeling. People say you get bored and need to go to the brink to chase the first thrill. That's not true. At least, not in the same sense. Sometimes a feeling never leaves, sometimes it changes.

People wax poetic about the first time doing anything. Their first kiss, their first drink, their first car, their first heartbreak, first time throwing a novel against a wall in rage, first bully, first roller coaster, first ticket, first time. There is something to be said of a first, and that's because whatever emotion one might be feeling becomes entwined in the secondary emotion. The one that amplifies whatever it comes into contact with. It's never really discussed but everyone knows it's there, on the brink of excitement. Fear.

Fear of the unknown.

Overlooked- fear can be replaced easily by hatred. Or love. Sometimes it's not even replaced, not really, sometimes the fear never leaves. Fear and love make the most common bedmates, for to truly love one must place trust in someone other than oneself. And that, that's true fear.

A thrill is endorphins released at the exact moment to counteract the sheer terror a brain is experiencing.

At least, it was for Ben.

He'd always been an adrenaline junkie. A rush that his brain woefully didn't provide most days. Feel good chemicals. A brain that just was not good at making him feel happy.

It was common. Humans aren't perfect, they never were. That fact didn't stop the anger that he couldn't just wake up and feel alive without a little help. He hated relying on help. He felt as though he was a failure because the juices just didn't flow right to create a smile. The pills helped a little, the rest was sheer determination. He knew it was always going to be a battle.

But it was a battle that he was willing to fight. It wasn't just because there was someone he wanted to see smile back at him, but because there were so many beautiful things worth battling for. Long car rides, loud music, the stars littering the country sky, good books, great movies, friends, love, human connection, food.

A change is gradual sometimes. It's soft and creeps up when it's least expected. It won't happen overnight. Sometimes it's unnoticed until you wake up and don't dread getting out of bed. Things get a little easier. You wash the dishes without putting them off another day. You see your friends and you don't think about how they'd react if you were gone. You don't break down into tears in your kitchen at three am because you can't sleep and you can't remember not feeling tired. What you're pushing against has give, and you gain inches in ground against it. You have some strength again. You have the energy to make yourself stronger against that darkness.

The darkness doesn't truly go away, but even a candle has enough light to see by.

Sometimes the change is quick. It's a breath when you realize you've been holding it. It's a jolt of laughter when you can't remember a tickle. It's the feeling that swells when you see a smile. And is not just happiness that returns. The fog blows away and you're no longer empty. Anger, sadness, jealousy, joy all punch you in the gut and you can feel human again.

And sometimes you never stop chasing a thrill.

Emotions are complex. He knew that. Feelings couldn't always be described. Humans never could quite grasp the words needed to relay the multitude of firing neurons in a moment. Not that they didn't try. Poetry and prose as soon as man was capable of speech. Even before we learned to write.

So Ben tried to explain himself to himself. Some people just want to understand. He just wanted that thrill. But lurking at the edges was always the question.

Why?

Maybe it was the lack of control. Maybe it was the fear of judgement. Maybe it was the thought of getting caught. Maybe it was his way of sticking it to the man. Maybe it was because he liked to eat. Maybe it was to feel grounded. Maybe it was the physical pain. Maybe he thought he deserved it. Maybe it was all of it.

As his mind became clearer, he had a gradual change, followed by a sucker punch of a quick one.

Possibly, there was never going to be a time when he didn't think he deserved to be punished. That's just the way his brain was wired.

He admitted to himself he craved it. He had accepted it a while ago. It wasn't too strange to enjoy giving up control.

The gradual change came like a soft kiss. A little unexpected but welcome. He knew he loved Ezra. He learned to be okay with himself and not crush feelings. Or thoughts late at night.

The quick change, that was another story, and just like the unexpected, it came with the thrill that Ben could not resist.

The idea of eating to the point just before the edge of capacity usually is not a pleasant thought. To Ben it was everything he stopped himself from doing.

He didn't let go of his control. He kept his body a sacrament to popular demand. Everything was about others. Never about him. And sometimes he wanted a fucking extra slice of cake.

He felt carved up and served to the people and he finally allowed himself to hate it.

And a damn broke and he changed. And he didn't give a single shit for once.

Not even the idea that Ezra might not like him for it.

It wasn't about her, though she frequented his fantasies. Sometimes as judgement, sometimes as sweet words encouraging another bite, and sometimes (though he didn't mean for it to come to mind) she was the one holding the fork.

Captain Curly is a kind man. Constantly thinking of others, how to help them and how to make them happy. A real people pleaser.

So it makes sense when you join the crew of the Tulpar that he would be friendly and welcoming to someone as new to ship life as you!

Curly doesn't do anything bad in his mind. He just sits by your bed, sometimes on it, his hand resting on your cheek, shoulder, or whatever skin he can feel.

You're so warm, and soft. You're here, beside him. It's grounding.

Curly likes to watch you sleep, feel the life in your body. It comforts him a lot, and soon he has to retreat back to his dorm due to his eyelids closing from sleepiness.

He doesn't mind when you interact with the others, but he becomes quite prickly and stern when you talk with Swansea or Jimmy, or even Daisuke.

Quickly steering you away or interrupting your conversation to give you a task to focus on.

It's not that he doesn't want you to talk to him, their his friends too! He just... Gets this awful feeling in his gut, whenever you smile or laugh with them instead of him.

Jeonghan didn't think he’d be able to hate an inanimate object so much. Yet here he is, shooting death glares at a stupid Christmas headband. Like honestly, how ridiculous does it sound? He's spent the better part of thirty minutes hiding in the kitchen, leaning against the counter as he wills cor the headband to disintegrate before him. The plastic cup in his hand crinkles as he grips it with annoyance. He lets out a huff before taking a sip of the eggnog, continuing to glare over the rim of his cup.

He’s so distracted he doesn’t notice the other two men who walk into the room. Seungcheol and Joshua share a glance, moving to stand on either side of Jeonghan. They’re not surprised to find him like this. But it doesn't make the sight any less amusing.

“If looks could kill,” Seungcheol chuckles.

“You’re practically burning a hole into Mingyu’s head, dude” Joshua says, clearly amused at the situation. Jeonghan frowns, lips pursing as he pouts.

“It’s his fault for wearing the damned thing,” He grumbles, nodding towards the red headband Mingyu wears.

Above the headband a bundle of mistletoe dangles, a tiny bell attached to the bow that holds it together. He insisted on wearing it. Saying it would be hilarious to see who ended up under it. At first Jeonghan was all for it, excited to see the chaos and maybe sneak in a kiss or two for a certain someone. Now as he watches Seokmin pepper kisses against your cheek he can’t help to think this is torture.

Jeonghan’s had the longest crush on you. It’s part of the reason he invited you tonight, hoping that sneaking in a kiss could give him a way to confess to you. But with the way things are going so far, he’s pretty sure he’ll just spend the night watching you from afar.

“Why don’t you just tell them?” Joshua prods, reading Jeonghan’s thoughts with ease.

“Absolutely not,” he protests, rejecting the idea, immediately.

“So then what’s your plan, to sit and sulk all night?” Shua asks, giving him a look.

“Shut it,” Jeonghan snaps.

Seungcheol rolls his eyes from the other side of Jeonghan. While he understands why he’s nervous, he doesn’t think he can last another night watching him look at you like a lovesick puppy.

“You’re psyching yourself out again. Trust me. The way they look at you when you do the smallest of things. There’s no way they don’t feel the same,” Seungcheol says, bringing his own drink up to his lips.

“And what if they don’t?” Jeonghan asks, doubt evident in his voice.

“I'm telling you. They do, you may not see but we do,” Seungcheol says, bringing a hand up to squeeze at Hannie’s shoulder gently.

Jeonghan thinks for a long moment. Eyes watching as you continue to talk to the boys. A longing feeling tugging at his heart at the sight of you. He knows he should trust them. At the very least he can finally just let his feelings out into the open, instead of constantly feeling like he’ll explode with how he feels for you. He sighs, glancing away from you to look at friends.

“I’ll figure something out,” he says, finally.

He’s determined. Tonight will be the night, it has to be… right?

Wrong. Tonight is not the night, in fact, at this rate Jeonghan just wants the night to end. He huffs as he falls against the back of the sofa. Three hours later and no luck.

The first hour he tried to get you under the mistletoe with Mingyu. But each time you're whisked away by another member, or he’s roped into some game by one of the others. He lets it go easily, doing his best not to appear suspicious. But on the inside he silently cursing out each member in his head. Wishing them nothing more than to kindly fuck off.

The second hour, the headband ends up on his head. Mingyu decided to pass it around, having been talked into taking it off by a very drunk Chan. It practically became a game of hot potato, going to Wonwoo, then Minghao, before landing on Jeonghan’s head. He thinks it must be a perfect opportunity, planning to steal you away for just a private moment. What he didn’t take into account was just how much the other members would be all over him. Seungkwan in particular who clung onto each member for the entire time they wore the headband. He can’t even get a moment to look for where you’ve gone before the headband is being propped onto the next member’s head.

The third hour, Jeonghan gives up on the cursed headband all together. Instead trying his odds on his own. But again his luck is just not there. He tried talking to you at the snack table, but was immediately interrupted by very tipsy Hoshi, who stumbled into you two. He’d practically wiped out the entire table in the process. Jeonghan ends up having to force Hoshi to sit and drink water, despite his whining protests. The next time he tries is when the secret santa exchange has just ended. He’s just about to ask if he can talk to you in private when the maknaes come bounding over, begging you to join their game of beer pong. When you turn to ask Jeonghan what he wanted to talk about, he brushes it off. He tells you it’s not important before watching the others pull you away from him. You turn and give him a smile, to which he gives you a tight lipped one in return.

Now he sits slumped into the couch, partially hoping for the cushions to swallow him whole. Jeonghan continues to watch the ongoing party around him, no longer feeling up to anything remotely festive. In fact he now feels terribly uncomfortable with all the laughter and smiles going on around him. Not wanting to put a damper on the mood, he decides it’s best to step away for a bit. With a defeated sigh, Jeonghan stands, grabbing his coat and making his way outside. The balcony isn’t very big, but it’s a welcome change of scenery for Jeonghan. He lets out a long breath, the cold air making it form a small cloud before him. He leans against the railing of the balcony, taking in the city before him. At Least the view is nice, he thinks. Doing his best to distract himself from his dejected heart.

The sound of the sliding door pulls him out of his thoughts. He turns to see you, the sounds of the party once again being muffled as you slide the door closed. Any other time he’d be ecstatic to see you, but at this moment the sight of you sorta makes him want to run. But the sight of you still makes him flutter on the inside, blushing like a damn schoolboy in love. Curse his heart, and its inability to beat at a normal pace around you.

He watches you walk up next to him, leaning against the railing yourself. You brush against his side softly, the feeling lingering. He can tell you’re a bit tipsy from how close you get. You are always the clingy type when drunk. Not that he’s ever really minded, he actually enjoys it.

“I thought I’d find you out here,” you say, breaking the silence.

“Needed some fresh air,” he offers.

“What? You mean you don’t want to witness booseoksoon’s rendition of ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ for the fifth time?,” you joke.

He rolls his eyes, a smile twitching at the corner of his lips. Even in his sour mood, you still manage to unknowingly make him feel better.

“Knowing how much eggnog they’ve had, I’m sure there will be at least three more renditions,” he says, picturing the scene of their last Christmas holiday. He vividly remembers having to restrain the three from climbing on the counters.

You giggle, leaning more into him as you laugh. Jeonghan smiles, his heart racing in his chest at the sound.

“It is quite nice out here. I’ve always loved winter nights like this,” You rest your head against his shoulder. He only hums in response. The both of you stand in silence. The only sounds that can be heard are the wind and the distant sounds of the party still going on inside.

“This is nice, it's beautiful out here,” you say quietly, as if speaking too loudly would ruin the atmosphere. Jeonghan turns to look at you. You’re right the view is pretty, the snow covered city, the soft glow of the street lights, the way the night sky only adds to it all. All of it is pretty. But as he continues to study the soft features of your face, the way the way your eyes light up, like twinkling stars, the way the moonlight illuminates your face, the way your lips rest in a soft smile, he can’t help but think you are far more beautiful than the view before you. You must feel him staring, as you turn to look at him. Meeting his adoring gaze.

“What? Is there something on my face?” you ask, already moving to wipe at your cheeks with your sleeve.

“No, it’s- “ he pauses, the words on the tip of his tongue. He’d been waiting for the right time all night. And now that he has it, he hesitates, the doubt from earlier coming back. But the way you look right now, there would never be a moment more perfect than this. Even if you didn’t feel the same, he was willing to take the risk.

“You look beautiful,” he says, voice shaking slightly.

You laugh, the sound twinkling straight to his heart.

God, did you know what you do to him?

“I don’t think tipsy me is a very beautiful sight to see,” you laugh, giving him a smile.

“You’re always beautiful to me, but right now you’re happy. And when you’re happy is when you look the most beautiful. He says softly. He gives a little shrug, as he says it. As if it’s the most casual thing he’s said before. As if he’s not turning your world upside down as he says it.

“Where is this coming from?” you ask, feeling your own heart beat even faster.

“Something I should have said a while ago. Something I’ve felt for a long time actually,” he turns his attention back to the view before him. Not having the heart to watch you reject him to his face. You’re quiet for a few moments, the air becoming thick around you. Jeonghan does his best to remain calm, even as his brain screams at him to run. You on the other hand are in no better shape, mind racing a mile a minute trying your best to process what your crush has just told you.

“Well I think you look beautiful like this too,” you finally say.

“yeah?” he asks, still staring straight ahead.

“Mhm, but someone once told me that love makes you see just how beautiful someone is” you say, voice shaking with every word.

Jeonghan’s head whips around to look at you. Eyes nearly bugging out of his head, He finds you already staring up at him. A soft, shy smile gracing your lips.

God, his heart is actually going to beat out of his chest.

“Love makes people do crazy things, huh?”

“Yeah..” you say, voice barely above a whisper.

A silence falls over you as the two of you continue to study the other. Like you’re seeing each other in a new light. You don’t miss the way Jeonghan’s eyes dart to your lips, a lingering question on the tip of his tongue. The way he keeps staring at your lips has your stomach doing somersaults. But he isn’t faring any better. He thinks if doesn’t kiss you right now he might actually combust.

“Can I kiss you?” he finally says, unable to bear it any longer.

You laugh, reaching into your coat pocket and pulling out that ugly red headband. His eyes dart betweens yours and the headband.

“I’ve actually been hoping you’d ask for a long time now,” You say, sheepishly.

Jeonghan grins, hand gently grabbing your waist to pull you closer to him. You stare up at him, eyes gleaming in the moonlight, just as eager as he is to feel his lips against yours.

He cups the back of your neck before pulling you into a soft kiss. The kiss is gentle, but still manages to steal your breath away. You sigh into the kiss, hands sliding up to grip his coat softly. Jeonghan melts into you, barely being held upright with his trembling knees. This is the best Christmas gift he could have ever asked for. Why does kissing you feel like coming home? He knew it would be the best thing ever, but this? This feels downright illegal. He unwillingly pulls away when the need to breathe becomes too much. But his smile mirrors yours, looking brighter than a star on top of a Christmas tree.

“Merry Christmas, y/n,” he says softly, pressing another kiss to your forehead.

“Merry Christmas, Hannie,” you say, resting your head against his chest. He hugs you close, hand running up and down your back in soothing circles.

The snow slowly begins to fall around the two of you as the night grows colder. The two of you stay as you are, basking in the comfort of each other. Jeonghan can’t help but smile as he glances down at you, looking so content in his arms. Maybe this night isn’t so bad. After all, he’s just gotten the best Christmas gift of all.

Task Force 141 as Your Roommate! (Gn!Reader - Headcanons)

(Includes: Jonathan (John) Price, Johnny (John) ‘Soap’ MacTavish, Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick, and Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley)

Jonathan ‘John’ Price:

- He is a clean roommate, whatever he dirties he always ends up cleaning it immediately. He folds laundry very tightly, everything he folds would be able to fit into a duffle bag. 

- John ends up buying quite a lot of the replenishables around the house. He just tends to spot the fact you need more things before you do, he replaces it without you even noticing half the time.

He knows if you have a schedule or not; he just picks up on things. He will attempt to subtly help you if you need it.

- John's great at communicating, every little issue you have with each other can and will be solved easily so there is no issue between you two. 

- He tries to sneak in quietly whenever he returns home late from missions, yet every time it’s one small thing that always happens that ends up catching your attention. (Ex: Accidentally smacking his boot against the door, or placing his duffle bag down too heavily) It’s always a different thing every time. This agitates him to know the end, he is not a clumsy man but it's just a bad habit he accidentally got into as he's not used to having a roommate.

- If you guys have a camera, before he leaves for missions he always says something to the camera, always something sneaky or something he found funny to try and bond with you even if hes away often. If you catch him doing stupid while leaving your apartment, no. No, you didn't.

- John is gone a lot on missions (like all of them are) so he really trusts you to take care of your shared home as he leaves his most important possessions there and will always return back to your shared space.

Johnny (John) ‘Soap’ MacTavish:

(Just using Johnny to not mistake him with Price) 

- Johnny eats all your groceries whenever he is home. He apologizes and gives you money to repay for it, but he also doesn't stop. Tries to make a conscious effort to do so, but he gets to comfortable and ends up eating them all anyway. Always makes it up to you though, gives you money or goes shopping for you whenever you need it.

- Leaves sticky notes around the house of tasks for himself or you to do, some of the notes of just really sweet reminders, requests, or compliments.

- He sometimes would forget to send you his half of the bills, he always apologizes for it and quickly makes up for it, pays it, and ends up buying you your favorite snacks/drinks. 

- Type of guy to sing at 2AM before realizing you probably might be trying to sleep 30 minutes into his amazing set. Peeks his head into your room with a sheepish smile to apologize under his breath if you're awake, and might even mutter an apology if you're asleep.

-Johnny would leave his stuff everywhere, despite the fact he's usually good at knowing where his stuff is. He's a messy ‘I know where everything is’. Will try to clean up If you ask though if you decide you both can't live in messy organized chaos.

- Johnny tries to do the dishes, cleans the living area, and takes out the garbage before he goes away on long missions because he doesn't want to leave it all on you when he knows he leaves it messy.

Kyle ‘Gaz’ Garrick:

- Pays the bills on time, he will pay your half but expects you to repay him if you forget. (if you both are 50/50 on bills) he would be willing to change up on what you guys buy or pay for.

- He dances when cooking, and sometimes you wake up to him vibing in the kitchen getting it down while he blasts music, he apologizes a lot if he wakes you up and tries to lower the volume every time he does want a small cooking party. - He likes just being around when he's home, even if it just means silently sitting In the same room doing separate tasks. Kyle likes the ‘normalcy’ of it all.

- Kyle likes hiding nice things for you to find around the apartment (ex; flowers, pretty rocks, money that he definitely didn't place on purpose) he doesn't even tell you, just likes waiting for you to find it and texts him a picture because he gets giddy about it.

- Will always pick up the phone when you need him, sends you a text instead if he's doing something important. Will do you favors. If you ask for snacks on his way home? Yeah, he is getting it for you, doesn't end up letting you pay for it though.

Simon ‘Ghost’ Riley:

- He eats your food accidentally some times, he always replaces it before you notice, if you cooked it? Oh wow, You have a totally different color food of the same thing from Simon attempting to re-make it for you. He ends up just leaving cash on top of it as an apology.

- He makes sure not to leave too much of a mess for you, he's busy but he really tries to clean before he goes away on longer missions. 

- You don't know when this man is home he is so quiet, you go for water at 4AM? You'll see him standing in the kitchen like a ghost staring at you until you notice him. (If you freakout, he flinches back but gives you a offended look like he wasn’t the one standing in the pitch black room)

- He moves stuff around sometimes when he's antsy, the living room might be rearranged by the time you leave your room. And he's already gone on a mission so you can't complain until he comes back. (He does try and keep this to a minimum and fixes it if you need him to. If you annoy him enough he ends up just changing his room and leaving the rest).

- He randomly leaves you money to find, simply plopping a 50 in your bag, or in your closet. Simon just doesn't tell you You randomly find it through the weeks. If you try to text him about it he simply doesn't give you an answer about it (also refuses if you try and give it back to him).

Bouncer!Werebear who’s not fazed at all when you admit that you live quite far away from there; the club he works for is one of the best in the city after all, it's no surprise that you're willing to get on the road every weekend just to go there. Because the club is surely the reason you're so bent on going through that much trouble. Surely. He’s not even fazed by the fact that he has to take such a long detour to get home himself and he lies to you, saying that your house is on his route anyway, just to not make you feel bad about it.

You shouldn't be so naive, you shouldn't give your trust so easily to strangers. There are bad people out there that could take advantage of you… Not him though. He means you no harm. On the contrary, he strangely cares a lot for you despite barely knowing you. His heart doesn't stir lightly... but when it does, he can't ignore it. And his heart has stirred for you since the first moment he laid his eyes on you.

Bouncer!Werebear who can't fight against your inviting touch despite his best judgment and carefully lowers himself next to you, grimacing at the way your fragile human bed creaks under his weight. He tries to move as little as possible, fearing he might crush your furniture… but mostly, wake you up and break this surreal moment.

Hello! If you're still taking requests, I'd really appreciate it if you could please write some headcanons about Emmrich, Lucanis, Neve and Bellara dating a Rook who has pretty significant burn scars, particularly on their back, stomach, legs, arms, hands or feet. The scars are healed now, but they still consider them unsightly so they try to cover up as much as possible. I'd love to see your take on their reaction to Rook's scars being revealed to them for the first time.

Burn scars also come with a lot of complications like having to keep them out of sunlight, they often get pretty itchy and since skin regulates body temperature you can get cold super easily if you have significant burns. So if you want to include any of those factors feel free!

As someone who legit cannot be trusted around hot liquids and has scars from 2nd degree burns, I'd appreciate it, but if you don't want to write something like this I understand. Thank you, and I hope your day is going well!

Emmrich Volkarin:

As someone who usually wears layers when out and about, Emmrich doesn’t notice right away you’re covered almost always. He thinks of it as a personal style, at least until you’re exposed to the cold. It only takes one instance of fighting a desire demon and your hands to shake so bad you can’t hold your weapon for him to wonder. He won’t ask you of course, especially when Harding asks if you’re alright and you deflect.

The first time he sees your burns himself, Emmrich has a lot of thoughts. He can tell that you’re uncomfortable, not meeting his eyes as you continue to make dinner. It’s the first time he’s seen you in short sleeves and without gloves; you had thought you were alone at the Lighthouse. He wonders where you got the wounds and how but instead, he apologizes for starling you and asks if he can help. You agree to let him help and it takes almost a full hour for the tension to leave your shoulders. Emmrich is happy to wait as long as possible for you to trust him.

The longer the two of you are together, the more you open up about your scars. Emmrich is willing to listen to anything you say and go at your own pace. He’ll go out of his way to buy you embroidered gloves that you adore and has no issues steering the others away from the topic. He’ll hesitate to touch your scars because he doesn’t want to hurt you but once you assure he can touch, he loves kissing your everywhere. Scars are a part of you but they don’t define you.

Lucanis Dellamorte:

He’s one of the first companions to notice, mostly because he has some burns himself. Not as wide spread as yours but Crow training wasn’t kind to him and he sees the way you favor warm over cold and how your legs get itchy after being in Rivani. Lucanis makes sure to cook warm meals and uses ingredients that help with itchiness. He’s a silent supporter from the beginning.

The extent of your scars makes hm angry. He has no way of knowing (at first) where your scars come from and assumes them to be a battle gone wrong. Spite often speaks of hunting the people down who hurt you and he’s inclined to agree. If he finds out the burns are because of an accident he’s going to hover more. If you’re this accident prone he’ll be your silent shadow so you don’t get hurt again. Tell him off if he hovers too much; Lucanis will find something else to help with.

He has no issues touching your scars but will make sure you’re alright with it first. He never wants to make you uncomfortable and watches for your verbal and nonverbal ques. Lucanis will do whatever he can to help you feel better; putting on ointment, buying you new clothing, whatever you’d like. He won’t let anyone talk down to you. He’s protective on a good day and if someone tries to say anything about your scars? His knife is already at their throat.

Bellara Lutare:

Bellara doesn’t realize you have burn scars until you take your coat off, wet from being slammed into the lake. It took her and Davrin combined to pull you out and you’re swearing up a storm as you strip. Davrin just teases you about losing your footing before going to find firewood. Bellara doesn’t catch herself staring until you turn away and she busies getting the camping set out.

She doesn’t bring the scars up until the two of you are alone, checking in. Mostly she wants to make sure you’re not in pain and if you are, she can make burn cream. Someone in her clan had burns like yours that bothered them. You’re surprised by her practical offer and kiss her cheek, thankful for her support. You take her up on the offer, especially when you end up on the coast. The hot air makes you super itchy.

It becomes a habit for her to help you put the burn cream on your back since it’s hard for you to reach. It’s a soft moment inside the normal day to day chaos. Bellara loves that you trust her enough to let her do this and gets to touch you. Her face is red by the end and you tease her but its worth all the teasing to see the soft look in your eyes. Once of these days she’s going to get her nerve to kiss you, she promises!

Neve Gallus:

Neve figured you were using clothing to cover up something. Most people don’t wear as many layers as you and it a toss up between scars or you really are that much trouble. The truth is, as always, a little bit of both. You naturally run cold but it’s more than that. The first time she sees your scars, she’ll admit she wasn’t expecting them. She knows that jobs can go wrong, she just wishes you were luckier.

She won’t talk about the scars unless you bring them up. She understands how it feels for others to judge you based on old wounds; she’s almost punched people because of her leg. Neve does go out of her way to get you warm drinks to hold and buys you long pants as yours get ruined. The detective side of her wants to know how you got the scars but she does her damnedest to keep those thoughts to herself.

Neve can’t help but kiss the scars when she can, almost without thinking. Clothes on or off, she’ll kiss the palm of your hand or rub your shoulder. Let her know if the touching is too much and she’ll back off. She accepts every part of you, scared or not. She likes the flustered look on your face, it isn’t often she throws you off. Neve can and will use it to her advantage.

-Instant love is not an option when it comes to Dazai. He can think you're pretty when he first lays his eyes on you, and he can be impressed and admire certain qualities, but he's not going to fall in love that easily. Falling in love requires vulnerability and indirectly the acceptance of a possible loss. No, a slow burn sounds more right.

-Building up trust is the key to getting Dazai vulnerable. You're going to have to prove that you won't leave him. It's not an easy task as Dazai will make you face many challenges, like calling you up in the middle of the night because he's "too drunk" to walk home from the bar yet you're chasing him around the entire city up till dawn.

-However, there are more things needed to win over Dazai's heart. Little things over a long span of time, to be more precise. Dazai is a stranger yet attracted to sincerity and kindness, so a combination of these two things would pull his heartstrings.

-Imagine Dazai sitting at his desk and suddenly you put a can of crab on it. He's confused, but then you explain how you rarely see him eat at the ADA. When Dazai asks you why you chose a can of crab, you answer that he once tried to convince Kunikida to buy it for him with the promise he'd finish that long overdue paperwork. Dazai would be so surprised if someone, you, paid attention to him and remembered a detail from an interaction that didn't even involve you. (Credits to Kisara for this scenario!)

-Dazai would be oblivious to his crush on you at first, may it be because he's scared or the foreignness of the emotion. When Dazai does realize he has feelings for you, he tries to distance himself. As Dazai said, everything he wants is lost the minute he obtains it. He can't afford to add another wound to an already scarred heart. It's crucial to be consistent and prove you're not willing to leave, and that you desire to live.

-You'll have to confess first. Although Dazai easily picks up on other people's emotions and knows how to manipulate them, he has trouble handling his own. Vulnerability is something Dazai fears and that includes opening up about his feelings to you. He would wait until you make the first move.

-If you're scared though, don't worry! Dazai picked up on your crush on him as well as your struggle to confess. He'll tease you until you're convinced he needs to have some interest in you. Imagine being in the ADA kitchen and Dazai pops up behind you. His front is pressed against your back while he's trying to grab something that so accidentally happens to be at your coffee maker. "Don't mind me," he whispers softly into your ear. He could grab it much faster but why wouldn't he take his sweet time? After all, it's so cute how your body reacts to his close presence. And who knows, maybe it makes you confess sooner.

-When you do confess, Dazai might act light-heartened about it. "Oh, Belladonna, I knew you'd fall for my charms eventually! What about a lovely double suicide for our first date?" -You might also need to kiss him first. Dazai will turn it into a challenge to see how long you can resist kissing him. Imagine Dazai catching you looking at his lips. You turn your head the second you notice Dazai caught onto you, but then his slender fingers grab your chin, turning your head back to him. His eyes lock with yours, the air is filled with want... and then he lets go, focusing on whatever you were doing. The longer you wait for him to kiss you, the more seriously Dazai takes the challenge.

-Dazai's kisses are usually playful and teasing. He knows what makes you stand on the tip of your toes for more. One of the cuter things is when he taps on your shoulder only to appear on the opposite side to kiss your cheek.

-The PDA will be very clownery. Not sure if I wrote something similar for another post, but: If Dazai wants to cuddle with you at the ADA, he's going to drag you to the couch whining like a child needy for attention. It's all to hide that he craves your touch. Physical touch is an intimate action for Dazai as he rarely lets someone that close into his personal space and when he touches someone, it's rarely to show affection. Such an intimate action is something Dazai prefers to hide from his co-workers and strangers, so the way he goes around it is by using his desire for your touch to strengthen his reputation as a lazy clown.

-Nevertheless, there are going to be intimate, hidden touches throughout the day. He'll lightly bump into you at the copy machine. He loves it when you play with his hair, although it'd be an unfamiliar sensation at first. He'd relax so much if you made him lay his head in your lap while you do your skin-care routine on him. -Dazai's favorite love language to receive is physical touch. He's so touch-starved, especially with the layers of bandages decorating his skin. It's going to take a long time before Dazai feels at ease and safe enough to remove the bandages around you, though. It's not something he's going to be comfortable with doing at the start of your relationship. Honestly, a lot of things that require even a bit of vulnerability turn into slow burns with Dazai. Even holding hands is a huge milestone that feels intimate to him. You really need to have patience and while you sometimes have to push him outside of his comfort zone or take the initiative, you cannot be too pushy either.

-Once Dazai agrees to remove his bandages, be extra tender with him. Kiss him softly and gently remove the bandages around his neck. Instead of staring at his skin and making him feel self-conscious, start placing kisses on his neck and then slowly trail down to the exposed part of his neck, leaving hickeys at places you couldn't before. Don't immediately let Dazai remove all his bandages. Take it step by step. Leave days between them. You don't have to remove his shield in one go.

-Dazai doesn't often initiate dates as he's rather easy in that aspect. It's not to say that he never takes you out, though! What Dazai values most on dates is the proximity of you and the memories that are being made. When Dazai wants to go on a date, they're rather spontaneous and unpredictable. One minute you're working and before you know it, he makes you chase him to a park. A fun date idea could be escape rooms! Of course, Dazai is smart enough to escape within five minutes, but he enjoys the proximity of it. He'll have already figured out where the key is, but why would he say it? Not only does that make you leave the room sooner, but he finds your cute dedication to escape it endearing. Dazai would also really like cafe or bar dates, but he also wouldn't say no to a date filled with surprises (if you manage to be sneaky enough to surprise him, that is).

-Dazai takes care of you from the shadows. He's a tsundere. So when he does an act of service, it's hard to tell it's him. For example, let's say you're very tired. When Atsushi is ready to grab a cup of coffee from the cafe, Dazai randomly brings up how tired you've looked all day. Next thing you know, Atsushi brings you a cup of coffee.

-Dazai isn't the one to get jealous easily, but oh does he taste it when somebody else thinks they can wrap you around their fingers when you're already wrapped around his. Softly said, it's not appreciated. It's hard to tell when Dazai is jealous, but he does get extra clingy and starts making it obvious that you belong to him. They're looking at your hair? Oops, Dazai is brushing it behind your ear. They're looking at your cheek? Dazai kisses it. They're trying to make a conversation with you? Dazai is answering all the questions in the most annoying way. They try to stand closer to you? Dazai has an arm around your waist, pressing you against him.

-When you need a hug for comfort, Dazai will make a remark on how clingy you are. But when you want to pull away, he hugs you even tighter and doesn't let go until he feels your heart rate go back to its usual tempo.

-Dazai prefers to sleep next to you. It doesn't necessarily helps him fall asleep (although it does make him feel more relaxed) but Dazai enjoys to have you in his arms, listening to your steady heartbeat and breathing, feel your warmth, and loves to have you close even though you're sleeping. It makes the night a bit more bearable and less lonely.

-Dazai isn't very used to praise, and if he does, then it usually doesn't mean anything to him. He knows he's smart. He's aware people perceive him as handsome. Nothing new. However, he'd secretly get flustered when it's you who praises him. It's the way you praise him with such sincerity and admiration without expecting anything back that makes the blood want to rush to his cheeks. Dazai knows how to smoothly hide his face, although you can still catch a tiny hint of him being flustered if the praise comes so unexpectedly.

-He's not always going to believe your praise, sadly. Not because Dazai doesn't trust you, but because Dazai doesn't believe himself to be a good human. So, whenever you praise him for being kind or beautiful, he's hesitant to internally accept it.

-Dazai calls you cringy pet names in public + Belladonna, but in the safety of your dorms he calls you "love" and "dear." All credits to Kisara and I'm still fangirling over how accurate this feels: "Sweet angel princess Belladonna, would you possibly... reconsider my double suicide offer?"

-Self-care does not come natural to Dazai. He is a pro in neglecting himself, so it is important that you motivate him in taking care of himself. Dazai will whine about how he does not want to shower only for him to do a full 180 turn when you offer to shower together. He clings to his can of crab, claiming it is all he need, only to change his mind once you make a delicious homemade meal (emphasis on you because there is something about knowing you made it that makes the food more enticing).

-To be fair, there are downsides to dating Dazai that you have to deal with. His acts of service often isn't noticeable, he has trouble opening up and sharing what is happening inside his head, and he requires patience on many surfaces. There are times he is as ungraspable as the wind. However;

First things first, I sense that Mark loves to be in control. 

With that being said, I honestly don't picture him as a hard dominant. He might not even care about roles, anyway, but he is naturally leaning towards the dominant side. 

He is really playful with the role, though. Mark is such a tease, and really creates an environment in which you can feel comfortable. He takes it upon himself to reassure you in every step of the fucking way —if he feels like you’re shying away from him, he would do anything just to bring you back to him.

For instance, I feel like one of his priorities in bed is to make sure you feel comfortable exposing yourself to him. I can really see him being into body worshiping and might even kneel in front of you and kiss your body from head to toe, whispering sweet nothings while asking all the right questions: "do you like it when I kiss you like this?, "does it feel good?", "do you want me touch you here?", and so on.

Despite the natural dominance I see in him, I do feel like he can get needier and more desperate than you, and he is not really ashamed of expressing it. This man is whiny, might even beg you to let him please you. And it's good that he is very talkative, because I just know his voice gets deeper and raspier in sexual contexts. At the same time, he is not really that loud; it's all whispers and murmurs, half of his words are muffled because he just has to have his lips attached to your skin and flesh. 

But when I say he is talkative, I mean it. The type to curse under his breath, and even start rambling about how much he loves you and how good you're making him feel. At one point he stops making any sense, because he is no longer thinking with his head but his dick. 

Mark might seem shy and collected at first, but I feel like the most he progresses into a sexual encounter, the less timid and more primal he becomes. 

But even then, I don't picture him as someone who might enjoy degrading or humiliating you, and certain practices like impact play might be a big no for him. I feel like he could try if you asked him to, but I don't think he would enjoy it just for the sake of slapping or spanking you. If he does enjoy it, it's probably out of ego —the fact that you're trusting him enough to ask him such things, and that you're enjoying them.

But, willingly, I don't think Mark would ever inflict pain on you like that.

Overstimulation and denial, however, are a whole other topic for him. He doesn't mind hurting you a little if he knows you can take it, and that it can become pleasure in exchange for a little pain —the way he proves your loyalty is through how good you're at following his orders and how willing you're to leave your pleasure aside, or endure a little pain, just because he asked you to.

Because of this passion and intensity, I think he is very much the jealous type. Get jealous easily, and might act a little bit impulsive on it. Also, he isn't afraid of bringing said topics with you —if something bothers him, he will tell you without beating around the bush. It may conflict him, and he might get shy when talking to you about whatever it was that upsetted him, but he never keeps such things for himself.

That's kind of relevant because I think the possessive, jealous part of him really makes an appearance in bed —he wants to hear you say how you belong to him, and him only; how your body it's only his to touch and kiss, how you don't want anyone else but him.

Mark wants everything there is of you —your mind, heart and body. 

And that's why sex is always so intense; not necessarily rough, but emotionally I feel like he brings a shit ton of vulnerability and he needs you to do the same. Sex with him it's always so fucking intimate, and it can get really filthy because trust is one of the most important things for him —he doesn't care about the mess, as long as it is your mess (with this I mean like certain fluids or things one might find disgusting, but to him they really aren’t).

He’s also pretty good at communicating and putting his thoughts and emotions into words, so that gives me the impression that he is really in touch with himself and his preferences. 

So, going back to the power dynamic bit, I don't see Mark willingly and fully submitting to you. Although I said he might not even care about those sorts of roles, I feel like he is the most comfortable with being in charge of your pleasure and his. For some it might be a burden, but not for him —he leans towards dominance naturally, not to assert it but because he likes it.

Mark is always gentle, but in the midst of things I really believe he can manhandle you unintentionally. Vethna: Politics in Vygrand, the ethics of blood magic, the history of magic in general... they are very much an academic at heart and like trying to find the balance between a "perfect world" and reality. Plus they've never spoken about these things to someone who takes them seriously, so having a place to do just that would have Vethna blabbering for hours.

Nikke: Weapons, daggers, specifically. He collects them as he finds them which may be grim to other people (considering he usually takes them from the bodies of the people he kills), but hey... it's still a cool collection, okay? He also loves talking about all his adventures and sharing stupid stories about cool places he's visited. Also fighting techniques. He's genuinely super into that. Goes for Jost + Nikke that they both have A LOT to say about the Taipan gang in Vrithka as well. Like a lot a lot. (None of them are good things)

Jost: Jost is a listener, not a talker. But in the rare, rare occasion you have her going on about something, it's usually because she's upset and somehow, you became the one person she trusts enough to vent things to. It's not necessarily upset as in sad, per se, but she's in a place emotionally where needs someone to bounce ideas and thoughts off of. (However, passion-wise, she's super into the arts, so you could probably pull some words out from her re. arts from the Old Worlds, museums, that sort of thing). 

Amilia: Amilia does not stop talking. Amilia will go for hours talking about a cute mushroom on the side of the road, no not underestimate her. And you know what? Yes, she's doing it to annoy who she's with, but part of her really is interested in that mushroom you know. On a more serious note, she's really into music and getting to know people. Amilia's one of those people that makes others open up pretty easily, and it's something she genuinely enjoys since she likes learning the "lore" of individuals. (... is that just gossip?)

Sabir: Astrology, the gods of the Old World, the Old World in general, really. Interestingly enough, Sabir does not enjoy talking about politics. Like you can rile him up if you try hard and enough, but he sincerely tries to avoid getting too far into it because it's such a glib subject. That, and he's already talking about politics all day given his position. Sabir isn't a ramble talker though-- he won't just chatter for hours on end about something. He's into the art of conversation, you see. The back-and-forth is what's fun for him, so he'd rather talk about nothing at all and fill the conversation with shallow banter than passionately talk about his map collection.

Syfyn: Just remind her of the time someone vaguely pissed her off one time and you got about an hour of entertainment off that incident alone. (One time a person cut her in line at the mess hall, one time she stubbed her toe because someone moved a box, one time--) Syfyn also likes talking about combat and training, but Nikke's more like "genuine excitement and tips and tricks" and Syfyn's more like "lmfao I kicked your ASS you're a loser" or "did you see how hard I punched that thing lemme remind you"

Freedom: Hmm... this only works if one is super-super close with Freedom, but they'll be very genuine and skip the word-games when it comes to talking about the Old World, the time when the other gods were alive, their past and people they've met/known. That's the one thing Freedom could speak about for hours and be upfront about AND be genuinely invested in the conversation. They enjoy sharing relics of history with people who are actually willing to listen, and the fact anyone might want to really know about them on an individual level would be very flattering.

Bi-Han is an honorable man

I can't believe that I'm making yet another post pointing out the obvious but every time I go into a Youtube comment section I'm starting to question whether me and the rest of the Mortal Kombat fandom have even played the same game.

1. He shows opponents mercy

Sub-Zero: You want peace? Let us be. Liu Kang: The Lin Kuei's sins aren't easily forgiven.

Sub-Zero: Surrender and Shao will show mercy. Mileena: If you believe that, you're a fool.

Sub-Zero: Walk away while you can. Raiden: I'll never give up, never surrender.

Sub-Zero: I won't hold back, Brother. Scorpion: Do your worst.

Sub-Zero: We have no cause for dispute. Kitana: You aided Shao's attempt to steal the throne!

These dialogues honestly speak for themselves already, they don't even need explaining. Compare that to actual villains like General Shao who sends Reiko after Bi-Han to kill him simply because he "doesn't like loose ends" even after Bi-Han saved him or Shang Tsung who killed Reptile's family out of nothing but sheer cruelty.

The fact that Bi-Han is willing to let people walk away from a fight, that he gives them a chance to walk away alive, speaks volumes about his personality. He warns his opponents in his intros and even during his end of round taunts ("Flee now and live."), he tries to solve things peacefully and without violence if possible. He's not bloodthirsty, malicious or eager to kill anyone, but will do so if given no other choice.

Despite Bi-Han's flaws, a man willing to show an opponent mercy is an honorable man. SPOILERS AHEAD: May I again remind you that Kuai Liang is not willing to show a defeated and dying Bi-Han mercy when he gets turned into Noob against his will? Not only that, but Kuai Liang wouldn't have hesitated to kill Frost who is probably around Hanzo's age at his own wedding if Harumi hadn't stepped in to save her. Harumi had to beg Kuai Liang to show someone mercy, while Bi-Han grants it without a second thought. Like it or not, at least in that one aspect, Bi-Han is the better man.

I don't know why some people think of him as this aggressive guy going around trying to pick fights with everyone when all he wants is to be left alone? It's wild to me how people think he's the problem here.

2. He respects/admires their fighting skills

Can we also talk about how respectful Bi-Han is towards his opponents? He compliments them on their skills as opposed to Kuai Liang who even talks down to his own allies. Yes, Bi-Han is arrogant, but he can still acknowledge other people's strengths and respect them, even if they are his foes.

3. He admits when he's wrong

Sub-Zero: I was wrong to trust you. General Shao: Yes, Earthrealmer. You were.

Sub-Zero: I wasn't aware of Shang Tsung's experiments. Liu Kang: Had you known, would your choice have been different?

Sub-Zero: Your mother's death is regrettable. Kitana: I consider you complicit, Bi-Han.

You can say what you want about him, but he certainly takes responsibility for his actions and even shows regret over some of them. Bi-Han might not be the most compassionate character, but he does express some sympathy towards others. Compare that to Kuai Liang who tells Havik it's his own fault that his face was burned off as if he had nothing to do with it. Yes, Bi-Han doesn't show much sympathy towards Baraka for his condition, but neither does Kuai Liang. Why Kuai Liang is still considered the more honorable brother regardless of that and his very obvious ableism, is beyond me.

Bi-Han's good traits are all too often overlooked. I don't know if it's because people don't pay attention to intros, but it's so easy to see he's not a bad person deep down. It's just the media comprehension skills of most MK fans that are seriously lacking.
