1. Bdubs is Scar’s favorite employee.
1a. Bdubs is also Hotguy’s favorite employee DESPITE the fact he does not technically work for Hotguy, and no upstart new PR agent is going to change that.
2. Hotguy’s identity is a secret. You must never reveal that we both work for the same person. Take it to your grave if you have to.
3. However, if you see someone talking shit online about Hotguy or Scar you should immediately defend his honor. I often do this and you can see the results in the shared folder admin\arguments_bdubs_has_won. You might not be as good as me at winning debates on the internet—don’t worry!! I can give you tips.
4. Here at the agency, we have the HIGHEST STANDARDS in responding to emails from the public. I noticed there are SEVERAL HUNDRED UNANSWERED EMAILS sent to Hotguy’s addresses that redirect to our shared mailbox. Scar is a very busy man! It is YOUR JOB to clear these out.
5. We are open and helpful with everyone. Except hostile journalists. And the TCG. And the tax authorities. And anyone who might want Scar to do anything unreasonable like ‘be on time for something’. Keep this in mind as you go through the inbox.

We do admittedly have some difficulty getting vigilantes to ever listen to us, but this is a new low in obstructionism.
We have requested your assistance in investigating thefts from two biotech laboratories, vandalism at a local redstone supplies shop, and multiple call-outs to security incidents at Mumbocorp. You have completely ignored all of these requests. New update: Several hundred chickens have just erupted into the festival from a side street. They all appear to have lasers. The sheer weight of poultry has overturned two artisan donut stalls, which has caused what I’m going to describe as “mass panic” as people try and avoid the laser beams. People screaming, people running, everything coated in a fine layer of powdered sugar. No injuries yet, but it looks like the Prize-Winning Triple Marshmallow Churro Donut display will never be the same again.
Also, I swear I just saw Cuteguy.

Hotguy has arrived!
He’s swooped in with three trick arrow shots that set off fireworks above the crowd, rappelled straight up to Doc on the roof, and started a fist fight with him. It’s very dramatic. I’m not sure he’s actually landing any of those blows.
Helpfully for Cuteguy, no one is looking at him anymore. He’s surreptitiously putting distance between himself and the TCG agents.
Doc is now making another speech while fighting Hotguy. If I’m honest, he seems pretty happy he’s finally getting the credit for his own evil plot. We’ve got a close-up on him. Doc would like us all to know that this is the future of poultry, the future of lasers, and possibly the future of donuts? Last part a bit unclear as at that point Hotguy threw his loudhailer off the roof.
Meanwhile, Cuteguy is trying to lure the chickens away from the civilians with pieces of donut. This would be working better if the crowd weren’t all shoving forwards to try to get a better look at Doc.
Doc has taken off on a jetpack declaring he’ll “be back!”. Hotguy has given him a thumbs up.
Oh, now Hotguy has finally caught on to what Cuteguy is trying to do and is chivvying the crowd to help herd the chickens away with donuts for bait. Donuts are flying. The crowd is now enthusiastically participating in this donut-tossing activity. The chickens are delighted. Hotguy has spotted our camera team chasing him and we’re getting a lot of that action-shot this-is-my-good-side pose.
Hotguy and Cuteguy work together pretty well when they get going, huh?
Now Hotguy has swung down to land in the middle of the crowd and put an arm around each of the TCG agents, who are heavily dusted in sugar and look somewhat sheepish. What a nicely framed shot! Almost as if Hotguy pushed them into position for the cameras.
Well, I suppose I’m writing an article about how much Hotguy helps the TCG.
Your client owes me one.
Doc’s guard robot has rounded up the chickens that Hotguy and Cuteguy have funneled back into a nearby alley. It seems to be putting them in large nets. The local pizza place has a sign that says RIGATONI JONES PIZZA: CLOSED DUE TO CHICKEN EMERGENCY, and for some reason Cuteguy seems upset about this. Excitement over, I suppose?
I do hope you tell Hotguy how helpful the Herald was! Next time he’s got a tip-off to share, just tell him to remember your friendly local journalist Pearl Moon.

psychhound games 2 year anniversary
wow ... i cant believe its already been two years since i started publishing games on itch but so much has happened in that time. i got promoted at my job, quit that job, started a master's program, became a teacher, decided to continue on to a phd, got published (twice), found meds that helped, made a lot of new friends, learned to cook, played in a good number of campaigns and short shots, and somehow, through all of that, i managed to publish (checks notes) 24 games, 2 zines, and an srd
in that time ive gotten over 20k views and almost 5000 downloads, as well as shout outs in video essays and podcasts. i've run two successful kickstarters and one that made it a far way but ended up teaching me more from its failure than i wouldve hoped
my goal when i started making ttrpgs was just to get a little bit of practice before i made my Big Dream Game. get my feet wet a little to learn the ropes and then design what i had actually set out to do in the first place - make a game designed specifically for therapeutic practice. and then i realized that i actually just really enjoy making games and kept making more and more and more of them until ... here we are
the first ttrpg i ever made literally came to me in a dream. my little sister was working for his college paper at the time and i dreamt that when he came to visit we played a silly comedy interviewing game i had made for her. so i woke up and made it. and then she visited and we played and it was a lot of fun!! and i was like. oh wait i can make games to make very specific people happy ... baller. so i kept doing that. made a game for my best friend where they could play as their cat and cause mischief and playing it for their birthday is such a cherished memory. my by far best selling game was made for a dear friend who's a photographer and lives in a big city and i wanted to blend city exploration, photography, and his love of a well-designed tarot deck into something fun he could do when he got out of the house. my most recent game was made because i wanted a tiny game i could print and send with my friends' holiday cards, and i know how much we all love writing and making crazy blorbo playlists so i made a playlist-driven writing game
over these two years its just become more and more obvious to me that my creativity that was once fueled so wholly by grief and trying to process it has now flipped around to being powered by joy and just overwhelming love. so many people in my life now who i love so wholeheartedly i found or got close to through playing ttrpgs, or being in the ttrpg community, and channeling that energy and that joy into making more of them to put out into the world has made my life so much better a million times over. i dont know where the future will take me but i hope to have such a long career of this - making through joy, engaging through play, growing through community - and i cant thank everyone whos supported me in getting here enough. im feeling very touched and very overwhelmed but just know that if youve ever bought one of my games, posted about playing it, left a nice review, or recommended it to a friend, you have my whole heart and i hope you have such a sweet new year

Interactive Fiction to Look Out For On Itch.io
itch.io is a trove of interactive fiction games, visual novels, and kinetic novels of all types, and I’ve run into a good handful that I think are worth highlighting (and playing again myself!)
Many of these I haven’t finished yet due to the sheer amount of content or because I went for the ending I wanted straight away, but I’d love to finish them thoroughly and perhaps review some of them in the future.
A couple notes! First, it’s been a while since I’ve played some of these games, and some of them I haven’t seen all of the paths. I try to give warnings where needed, but my warnings might not be complete as I don’t know absolutely everything in each game. Please check the games’ pages and look after yourself!
Secondly, many of these are available free, and some are for sale at a low minimum price, but I encourage you to supporter the writers, artists, composers and developers in any way you can, whether that’s giving them a follow, donating, or just leaving a nice comment. Supporting indie creators is a huge part of what this blog is about so give back to those who create things you love! Now let’s get into the list!
Visual Novels:
Hikeback is a horror visual novel about hitchhiking, time loops, and murder. It gives a lot of incentive to keep playing and replaying, as the story advances almost every time you start again, with new choices and details being revealed as it all unravels. This game is incredibly engaging and beautifully written, and lives up to the promise of time loops and meta game mechanics. I recommend this for anyone who wants a good spooky, existential story. Be warned of loud noises, jumpscares, glitch effects, blood and violence, abuse, and themes of self harm, suicide, and depression. Nothing to Say is a Visual Novel dating sim where you go on a date with Zoe, a girl you really like. The only problem is you’re very, very nervous. In this smart little game, you’ll be limited in how many letters you can use to express yourself, and you’ll have to unlock further dialogue options by getting to know Zoe, being honest with her, and being cute together. You’ll only earn letters from dialogue options once, encouraging you to explore more dialogue each playthrough until you get all the options to fully tell Zoe how you feel. Text-Interactive:
The Three-Body Problem is a queer romance interactive fiction about celestial witches living in a dark, magical wood when they encounter a young stranger. It features a nonbinary character, a potential polyamorous relationship, and healthy dom/sub dynamics. I found this story sweet and charming, with likable characters and pretty, easy to follow story writing. The Three-Body Problem deals with themes of abuse in a compassionate manner, and is in large part about healing and finding people with whom you are safe. I recommend it for anyone wanting a nice queer romance read with fantasy elements. Watch out for themes of abuse and sexual themes. Raik is a deeply Scottish fantasy melded with reality. You play as a young woman dealing with anxiety and stress trying to make it through her day, while a fantasy world unravels around her. This story has layers, and all of it is beautiful. The portrayal of anxiety is poignant and real, and the writing is gorgeous. I don’t want to say anything else to spoil it, but this game is fantastic. I recommend for anyone who likes to daydream. Please be warned of themes of anxiety, stress, and panic attacks as well as some fantasy violence. You can buy Raik here on itch.io for 3 GDP (or more! Please support the author!)
Space Frog! (I saw a lunar eclipse) is a story of a frog in space. He’s a frog and he’s in space! This is a cute, short interactive fiction with low stakes, no worries, just cute adventures of a frog in space. You can direct frog as he travels and learn more about him. It has adorable illustrations and clickable text that reveals extra flavor information. I recommend to anybody looking for a smile. You can play Space Frog here on itch.io and also download a zine of the game for $2 or more!
Floor is a text-interactive game about lying on the floor. You can lie on the floor, and you can get off the floor. What you do next is up to you! This is a short game with no real stakes, just real life boredom and activities. It may evoke feelings of loneliness or disappointment, but you can also just have some hummus. Floor can be played here on itch.io!
Apple Spice Pancakes is another short game about making pancakes with your sweetie! It’s entirely wholesome and adorable. The game text is all dialogue - the dialogue you read is from your partner, and your choices are your real-time responses to them. You can help them design your perfect breakfast while being disgustingly cute. Apple Spice Pancakes is available here on itch.io!
A Witch’s Word is a romantic text game where you have made a deal with a witch, offering her your firstborn. The only problem is you don’t have a child. Or a partner. The witch is here to help. Explore three potential relationships as your witch continues to introduce you to new sweethearts, trying to find someone who you are willing to love and who is willing to give up your child. And if you don’t want any of these people the witch offers you... maybe play the game anyway. See what can happen. A Witch’s Word is available here on itch.io!
Other:
Novena is an interactive poem! It’s a pixel art game that you navigate around, interacting with parts of the environment to read through the poem, which is about the ocean, and wishes, and expectations. And compassion. It has absolutely stunning visuals and music, and the poem makes me cry each time. Be warned of some really heavy feelings, but it will do its best to comfort you. The poem takes about five minutes to read and is here on itch.io waiting for you.

Hello all! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday.
First, a big thanks to everyone who has followed us on this Dungeon Year Design Journal journey. As of this writing, the free digital version has been downloaded 2,700 times and people are starting to post pictures of their journals printed off in their three ring binder. It is so exciting to see what you’re all making - keep them coming!
We are excited to announce that we will launch a crowdfunding campaign on January 3rd, 2023 to get the journals printed!
And today we finalized the details to offer the journals worldwide.
The digital version will remain free, but we wanted to get physical journals in the hands of those who want them. They will be wire-o bound so they lay flat. Inside is 70lb uncoated paper for a solid feel that won’t let ink or colors bleed through to the other side.
We are keeping the campaign low risk, so no stretch goals, but we are offering two journal formats: The full-sized journal and a condensed weekly journal.
We will make an announcement here when the campaign launches, but we also recommend signing up on the campaign page to make sure you get all the updates we post there.

Recently, we stumbled upon a Dungeon23 Helper Project on itchio by Hexed Press, and we think it’s really cool, so definitely check it out.
What’s next after the Journal?
The Dungeon Year Design Journal is our first steps into crowdfunding, but it was also a surprise project for us. We have two other projects in the works as we speak:
In February, we are partnering with Milk Toast Studio to launch a crowdfunding campaign as part of Zine Month to make letterpressed GMless player aid cards. A high-quality pack of 12 cards that helps players drive the story in GMless games such as Wanderhome, Sleepaway, and even Banda’s Grove. We are finalizing the artwork for the cards now and can’t wait to start showing off more details.
Then, we are still working on getting final touches on Banda’s Grove complete, including building a legacy campaign book that can sit in the middle of your table. This supplement can house all the details of your adventures in the Grove all in one place that everyone contributes to - a living legacy of the adventures you have together. We are targeting a launch in April/May.
With Banda’s Grove, we are also doing our own Dungeon Year project! A Mega Grove: A massive convergence of campgrounds from across the universe. 52 planar fragments, each with 7 unique details: encounters, NPCs, buildings, creatures, and more. We will release the Mega Grove slowly over time for free. If you’d like to help us make the Mega Grove, or just watch its creation first hand, join our discord server where we’ll work with the community to bring it to life.

And last of all: I don't wanna hear anything about this being unfair. If fanart artists can charge $50+ for a character drawing, I can do the same for writing you multiple pages of character growth and story. Same goes for the Templates, this is my free time and if you think artists of all kinds should be able to make a living you should be supporting them. ALSO: Requests for free stuff can take multiple weeks if not months sometimes, especially if I don’t usually write a character.
For the broke peepz: PLEASE don't worry if you can't afford something on this list. I will do giveaways from time to time where you'll be able to get a 'three shot' or a custom 'PSD Template'. I know how it is when you can't pay for custom work from an artist. Very active and frequently commenting/reblogging readers definitely will have priority in my challenges and One Shot Waiting List.

Inspiration Space - a free digital zine focusing on Persona 5’s beautiful painter boy, Yusuke Kitagawa
This project is set to collect and spread the love for the blue-haired artist – a fanzine purely for fun and free for everyone. [EXTENDED] Submissions – for art and writing and other various crafts and media – are open until September 4th 11:59pm PST !

So what is this zine? This zine if purely for fun and appreciating Persona 5′s Yusuke Kitagawa. The zine is open for anyone to submit for and it is a public project. Is this zine REALLY free? YEAH. No money is being made from this zine and it is just for fun (Spread the love for Yusuke Kitagawa via art!) All participating artists can include their donation/commission links so that people can support them. The theme from this zine, as indicated by the title is Inspiration. While the actual submission idea is not restricted at all – create anything as long as Yusuke is the focus of it and you are free to submit old artwork (though new is preferable) – the real catch of this theme is to submit your work along with a caption, talking about your art or art in general. This can range from talking about your art process to talking about your inspirations for art.
The goal is to inspire others via discussion of art and bring together Yusuke fans!
Suggestions for caption:
Describe your thought process behind your drawing or any deep symbolism you thought of
Describe your inspiration for the drawing or what inspires you in general
Any tips on drawing? Getting past artblock? What works for you?
How much you relate to Yusuke Kitagawa????? he’s an artist after all
Entry Guidelines: As mentioned, all art/photography/craft/media types are fine as long as it is possible to showcase it as an image or text, external link can be provided. Traditional art should be scanned at 300dpi. AUs are fine, but make sure to talk about it in the caption then! Stuff like fanfictions, should preferably be submitted as an excerpt with an external link to the full version (Estimated limit is about 4K characters per page). Comics unfortunately would not fit the format as there are usually multiple pages. Videos/other media should be linked through a thumbnail image to an external host link. Ship art is not preferred, but implications are fine as long as Yusuke remains the focus of the piece. Gray area here. Spoilers are fine too, but preferably more subtle.
Your entries should be yours – avoid using any artist’s art or copyrighted material that is not yours.
For artwork – it should be portrait oriented. While the zine being digital is flexible to accommodate various image sizes along with horizontal orientation – A4/Letter size image at least 1000 pixels width is the recommended minimum option.

This zine will be released as a PDF for free via download links provided through this blog. All artists retain their rights to their works and can publish them outside of this zine. Artists are free to leave watermarks and signatures on their works for extra protection if so desired. The zine itself can only be used for personal purposes – it cannot be sold anywhere.
Really, the goal is this project is to share the love for Yusuke Kitagawa and instill inspiration into others!
