idk if this was intentional but I find it cool to think plastic surgery is like the human equivalent of a vampires rebirth. yknow how when someone gets turned they have to adapt to a whole new body, I think quinns visits to plastic surgeons is him taking "playing a character" to a new extreme. he stalks people beforehand so he knows exactly how to act to get his hooks in them. and ofc ofc changing his appearance to keep authorities of hiss trail BUT LIKE HES SO FUCKING GRIMY IM FREAKING OUT

and again!! ben coming in was really unexpected!!! but in the best way, I love how you tie all of these characters together it makes the space feels so alive. but like I'm trying to figure out bens motive here, is he doing it out of fear of quinn? telling all of this to sweetheart knowing it's all for nothing and they've got no shot of catching him, which is why he showed them his scars? or did he show them because deep down he was rooting for them and hoping that, even with his limited information, they would still succeed AAAAAAA IM SO EXCITED TO SEE HOW THIS UNFOLDSSSSSS

I have been powering through these chapters the last we days! I live in the south and we got snow so my work has been out for most of the week. Plus, I think my self imposed week of no writing really got the juices flowing again!

CRAB ANON YOU SEE THE VISION!! I find the like delaying aging and staying young forever by never being in the sun and going into cryo chambers and doing crazy stuff like that very creepy. The pursuit of youth at all costs is just... wild to me.

YES Quinn's plastic surgery IS a forensic counter measure!!! Omg I'm so glad you picked up on that!! It's also a vanity thing, am appeal to his ego to remove every imperfection he sees in himself, and a way to appeal to a wide variety of victims. It's all SO SLIMY!!

Ben was a spur of the moment choice that I'm really happy with!! We'll hear a bit more from him later on, but suffice it to say that his motive is definitely out of fear. He wants Quinn put away, but he's disillusioned at this point at the likelihood of it. He's seen him get away with a lot of heinous shit. And he knows what happens to people who get too close to catching Quinn, and he knows what Quinn does to people who betray him.

Yeah, Quinn's crazy pain tolerance and pain kink come to save him again. I got my info on tasers from a cursory google search, so it might not be accurate 100%, but it works for the content of this world. SOMEBODY shoot Quinn point blank I'm begging at this point.

Oh Colm!!! Listen, Colm is not 100% a good guy. He still deeply struggles with his addiction. But he loves his kid, and he loves Sweetheart. We're actually going to dig into his relationship with Milo in the next chapter!!!

Greg!!! I love him. I know we've heard from him one entire time but UGH I love him. He'll probably make an appearance a little later on. Fun fact, Ansel is an Internal Affairs agent and he heard Colm's call over the radio. He called Greg right away and Greg, who is the fire captain of the 7-30, decided to tag along personally with his ambulance crew to make sure everything was okay. Since all firefighters are required to be paramedics in California, he's perfectly qualified!

hey! so no it doesnt look like you are underage nor a bot but a lot of authors block "blank blogs" which also includes not reblogging. if you dont reblog as they feel you arent supporting them.

i mean i think tumblr only recently implemented the like system so people you follow likes show up on your dash so not a lot of people realize likes do help now. however a reblog is still going to help more in the longer run.

i personally dont block non rebloggers but i would at least like to see a non reblogger keep their likes public so i know they are interacting in someway. i dont begrudge anyone for not reblogging as when i first rejoined tumblr after years of being away i was pretty much a blank blog too as i was just casually on here a few times a week and didnt understand reblog etiquette for months lol. i know a lot of people on here who are blank dont understand that.

but as a writer i will say encouragement keeps us going. it means so much when people leave comments or reblogs with comments/tags. so if you consume content you enjoy please do consider reblogging at minimum. but to really show support please do comment or reblog with comments/tags.

here is a really good post that goes into a bit more depth and i really like this post cause it doesn't have an accusatory/rude tone but its just a really honest/raw story that accurately describes why a lot of writers choose to stop writing for lack of vocal support.

5. Do you respond to comments?

I try. Like, especially if someone took the time to write a lot, I try to engage to at least say thank you, because it makes ME really happy when an author responds to MY comments (and assures me I didnt just stick my foot in my mouth or overstep a line or something lol) I have a lot of anxiety about leaving comments because I followed a writer in the Zootopia fandom who was REALLY vocal about how she hated certain comments or commentary, typo corrections or "I've never read this kind of au BUT..." comments and I got REAL in my head about comment etiquette for a LONG time. BUT! Comments and feedback are so vital to me so I try to comment and respond to comments so everyone feels seen and maybe we can make a connection? My Luca fandom friend group is still going strong because we were so incredibly aggressive about supporting one another.

6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?

The Apex of a Bad Decision. It's a canon-compliant Outer Wilds, fic, so. :,)

7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?

Most of the rest of them! I'm squishy!!! But I think the most obviously and deliberately triumphant one is God Only Knows.

8. Do you get hate on fics?

I don't think I've gotten hate on a fic since I posted Wilbur Robinson self-cest to Livejournal in 2007, when WHY IS THIS GAY was a common response to slashfic. I've gotten plenty of hate for having an online presence while shipping kids or teenagers, but not on the fic itself (that I can recall!)

9. Do you write smut?

Sure! Not often. It's always a character exploration and I know how that sounds but I promise its true! It's always about being open and vulnerable and baring souls and loving and taking care of someone who needs to be loved and taken care of. I don't think I've ever written genuinely horny smut, not that I'd know because I dont really get horny. People (antis) have this idea that everyone is writing smut with one hand down their pants and that we're "getting off" on it and are perhaps ignorant to the fact that sex is not inherently a base filthy thing, its emotional and vulnerable and full of feelings and teenagers have those feelings too and writing about teens having those feelings does not mean I am inherently jerking it to teenagers fucking. Im EMOTIONALLY jerking it to teenagers having BIG FEELINGS. that's different.

10. Craziest crossover?

I've never written a crossover! FUCK I forgot the mystery teens summer. There was a specific summer (*googles* August 2012!) when gravity falls was at it's peak and Paranorman had just come out and tumblr as a hivemind decided Norman Babcock, the Pines twins, Raz Aquato (Psychonauts) and some other kids from various supernatural media needed to meet and hang out, like a much briefer superwholock or rise of the frozen tangled dragons. the big ship at the time was Dipper/Norman. I mightve done a quick ficlet posted to tumblr in that time frame. When summer ended, the phenom ended abruptly exactly as if we had all left summer camp and gone back home.

I've had plenty of requests! I don't know if they've ever finished/gone through with it, though. I'd be a hypocrite if i wasnt in favor of it, considering how much time I spend screenshotting jamikali doujin and feeding it through google translate lmao

13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?

I didn't think I ever would, but the time jo and I spent doing OC stuff together was a delight, though tbf they did most of the heavy lifting. I don't know if I would do it again...I feel like the OC stuff worked because we built it from the ground up but idk if I could do a fandom thing the same way, what if we had slightly different opinions on a blorbo and I had to COMPROMISE? idk man

14. All time favourite ship?

ohhhhhhhh idk if i can answer that. Whatever I love in the moment is is my otp. The rest simmer on the backburner but whatever the mental illness deems is the priority is the only thing I could ever conceive of loving this much. I think Weblena might have done the most brain damage to me. I wrote the most fic for it, I made the most art for it, I was team weblena for more years than anything else, I endured the most shit for them without giving up. But at this exact moment in time I'm like "those were very nice girls and i loved them very much and I know they made me insane for literal years but surely they dont compare to the truly unhinged mania i feel for sexy anime schoolboy jafar and sexy anime schoolboy sultan of agrabah" (it is the same level of mania, actually)

15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?

idek if i want to finish it but I had a few sunfish (iykyk) drafts kicking around that could have been good. Its a good ship imo and I wanted to get into the whole "I know I've kind of adopted you as my surrogate dad but what if that was a hasty decision and we kissed instead" angle but then I developed a severe case of cringe avoidance and I wont be doing anymore vtuber fic lol

16. What are your writing strengths?

I'm told I do good at characterization which is a relief because when I write I feel like the first stage of any "galaxy brain" meme where I'm thinking in only two dimensions orz Also! Its very flattering but whenever I create an OC to fill a necessary role in a fic people really seem to enjoy them.

17. What are your writing weaknesses?

Action... The boring but necessary filler that gets you from point a to point b.... I can only write in 2nd person and i know I KNOW everyone fucking hates it and people wont even TOUCH 2ndPOV but it flows so EASILY when i dont have to stop and juggle pronouns or even names!!! i feel more thoroughly seated in the POV character's head! it lubricates the process and sometimes I think i only ever get anything done ever because i write in 2ndPOV im sorry!!! Im sorry but I wont change!! its more important that I get the demons out than it is that you read my fic.

18. Thoughts on dialogue in another language?

Sparingly and with Purpose! (<<Bob I'm stealing your answer) (i realize your name is not actually bob but I've been calling you bob in my head for years now sorry) I used italian vocab occasionally in Luca fic because it's used heavily in the movie to create a sense of unfamiliarity for the boys who were trying to integrate themselves into human society but didn't understand most things they encountered. It's soooooo bad when done wrong, though. I'll never shut up about the jamikali fic i opened that had Jamil call Kalim habibi in the first paragraph, I almost threw my phone across the room. Like first of all they don't do that in the source material, any arabic used is very clearly in the context of an "old/ancient language" that no one is speaking on the daily and second of all he would not fucking say that!!!!!

19. First fandom you wrote in?

The Sonic 2 fanfic i tried to write back in 1993 is between me and the lisa frank notebook kept under my bed. My first published-on-the-internet fic was the aforementioned Wilbur Robinson (Meet the Robinsons) self-cest. I went back to ff.net to see if it was still there and if I could rewrite it (it would rule in 2ndPOV actually) but..........its gone. Either it got purged or I purged it myself during the ducktales cyberbullying fiasco. First fandom of current era fic writing was Ducktales. (thank you ducktales for all youve done for me)

20. Favourite fic you've written?

God Only Knows is probably the best thing I've ever written, but picking apart the world building in Outer Wilds for Apex was really fun and rewarding and when I get feedback on it its always (crying emoji) (crying emoji) (sad face emoji) (skull emoji) which is ALSO fun and rewarding but in a totally different way.

the death order went like this: blocky kills woody, match kills golf ball, bubble kills pencil, eraser disappears, teardrop kills yellow face and marker, firey kills leafy (we play as needle now), the current survivors meet with the survivors of the sequel, and loser is revealed to be the mastermind, leaving needle, tennis ball, spongy, and tennis ball. eraser was planned to survive too but once i thought up a sequel that idea went out of the window

now i know i said there was no death order but there were some scattered ideas here and there. for example, leafy would have died and pin (who liked leafy here) wouldnt exactly take it well. but i also wanted to make her be a killer in the penultimate trial, and have her take over when pin fails to choose her. eventually i just decided to scrap everything as a whole

Ocean Wave, Part 2: A Winding Current

“I was curious.” Dracmon fidgets idly with the little golden loop near the spike on his right wing. “Somethin’ about you drew me in… and I couldn’t walk away. When we fought together, it felt right. More right than anything I’ve ever, ever felt. And now… I just want to be with you.” Dracmon wasn't always by Kaito's side. Which begs the question: part 1 - footprints in the sand Who was he, before the arrival of his other half? part 2 - a winding current And what was he doing, on that fateful day?

Part 2 covers the moment that Dracmon and Kaito met for the first time. once again, tumblr dot shit hides posts with external links in tags, so the ao3 link is in the source.

SO there was a TON of ideas that went into part 2, mostly stemming from, as i've mentioned, me being mad that kaito and dracmon were the only ones not to get a fancy champion evo sequence on-screen. i said in my authors note on ao3 that as i was playing, i just assumed it happened off-screen, but then i asked myself "what if it didnt?" and the answer i came up with was "maybe dracmon could already innately reach champion" and then i worked backwards from there.

next - aesthetic changes to dracmon. i am a HUGE sucker for digimon being matchies with their partner. before dracmon met kaito, i think all of his eyes were red, both the ones on his face and the ones on his hands, and the ones that are green only became that way after meeting kaito and devolving from sangloupmon. it's kind of like in tamers when beelzemon's eyes change colour after he makes amends with his partners. i also made changes to the accessory situation - after meeting kaito, instead of the little chain with the green gem in the middle, dracmon would have piercings on his wingtips that are the same shape and on the same side as kaito's. i have like... a written list of all aesthetic changes across all stages for all the partner digimon at this point (except for renamon and gabumon - still thinking about those ones) so i will accept any invitation to blabber about them! i LOVE that shit, i cannot emphasize that enough!!

formatting this time was a little less intense - i only had one table i needed to work with, and tbh, most of my formatting issues were about indentation. im actually not really a fan of the standard ao3 formatting patterns, where there's double spacing after each paragraph and no indentation. i much much prefer how it is in most novels, where there's no double spacing and every paragraph is indented. i know people tend to be fussy about formatting in fics, and most of the ones ive seen use the double-spacing no-indenting situation. it's understandable, formatting is something i'm fussy about as well, so im trying to strike a balance between the way i like it and the way i've noticed that most others like it.

i like indenting. i use it to like... give a sense of flow to conversations and/or differentiate/shift between spoken word and narration. the vibe im trying to give when i increase indentation from line to line is that the conversation speed is picking up. im not sure how well that was conveyed, but i think it works all right.

once again, like in alligators, i left some deliberate loose ends. the most obvious one is "if that first tether pulling dracmon toward the ocean wasn't kaito, then what was it?" and listen. dont even worry about it (:

as im replaying the game, im noticing some really interesting stuff about the state of the digital world. in like...part 7, i think, there's an optional free time event where you can recruit a tentomon, and it mentions that a lot of other digimon have been behaving aggressively lately. paired with the fog, i think that what's happening is that the shrinking digital world is causing a lot of digimon to have to live in close quarters, and that a lot of them are "young" in the sense that they're still feral and incapable of speech or reason. that, plus the continuous spread of the fog, would make for a really hostile environment for the remaining areas of the world. im quite happy with the theory i've got that digimon might sometimes lose a bit of memory every time they regenerate. if you subscribe to that idea, the unusual aggression among the wild digimon makes a lot of sense - they're all young, they all keep getting exploded and forgetting what's going on, theres this terrifying fucking fog EVERYWHERE, which just feeds back into wild digimon being more on-edge, and therefore more aggressive. thats why tsumemon is a little unsure of hanging out with koromon at first in part 1 - it's a dangerous world for little guys!

this is kinda connected to why i have the digimon half of the cast crossing paths with one another. tsumemon and koromon have met, yeah, (even though they don't remember anymore) but also i think a few of the other characters have met too. i didn't linger on it, but kunemon was in part one of ocean wave , albeit very briefly, trying to warn dracmon about seadramon lol. Now Why Would He Do That? again. don't worry about it (:

and at last - what's next? i mentioned in another text post a few days ago that ideally id like to go back to some shuuji and lopmon stuff. ocean wave set up some context about a couple of things i want to explore about shuuji and lopmon's relationship, as well as some . hmm. alternate events. and what effect those alternate events have on the two of them. "what do you mean" dont worry (: mostly it is just me self-indulgently fixing a few gripes i had with truthful route's part 6. i'd also at some point like to post some doodles of aesthetic changes. i have a few sketched out but they're very messy lol

tolkien: tough one. honestly, i feel like due to the nature of the fandom most people have defensible readings of most characters, even if they're not my own? to the extent tht people get characters wrong it's mostly by not thinking abt them very much! I'm inclined to pick Galadriel, though, bc she's also in LotR and so you get LotR fans thinking they can speak to first or second age galadriel, and then u get silm fans overcorrecting and ignoring third age galadriel entirely, and ofc there's the various Sexist Archetypes she gets shoved into by virtue of Being A Woman. actually a Lot of the women in tolkien are characters ppl get wrong a lot. elwing! míriel! indis! idril! lúthien! niënor! haleth! And So On Forever And Ever. this is again mostly due to Simply Not Thinking About Them Very Much tho

wktd: tbh the fandom gets the wktd girls pretty solidly. no real notes here. benefits from being a small fandom for a game with Three characters all of whose issues are pretty spelled out for you & constitute the central plot.

glowfic: im gonna be honest i do not feel confident to speak for other ppl's characters and state what ppl get right/wrong..! like idk man maybe im the one getting them wrong. ppl mostly dont like... write fic or make headcanons for each others glowfic in a way where the author isnt involved in having opinions about it? so if someone was mischaracterizing a glowfic character idk how i would know rly

hannibal: all of them @_@ no one understands this show like i do and it's a perpetual frustration... im gonna throw out abigail as my answer tho bc she sooooo often gets reduced to like, part of the murder family, which ignores soooooo much of her storyline and how much she did not (uncomplicatedly) want that. her relationship with will is So So Complicated but ultimately she likes freddie more than she likes will in some ways! and at least back when i was in the fandom ... ppl dont get that or just treat it as like, a flaw or misunderstanding to be corrected.

tma: ooooo this is a tough one. honestly the fandom was big enough that it's hard for me to say No One in the fandom got characters & in a lot of cases there was the question of like, does the fandom not understand X or do i just not seek out very many fics abt X... e.g. i havent read any tma fic that got georgie very well but also i havent read any georgie-centric tma fic! kind of a skill issue on My part rly!

mcelroy + polygon content: oh this is a trip down memory lane. everyone writes taako very few people write taako well. i'm not a taako fan and instead had Cares About Less Popular Characters disease but i did feel for taako enjoyers for this. i didnt really read polygon rpf so i can't speak to that side of things.

poetry and short stories: i don't think there are rly characters Everyone In The Fandom gets wrong for this tbh. like thats just not rly a coherent thing

the untamed/mdzs: SONG LAN...... i am not even a big song lan fan im a xuexiao stan first and foremost. but good lord. man has like 2 character traits and the ppl writing fic for him cant even remember those! also lwj but with the disclaimer that i have a very specific read of novel!lwj that just doesnt rly apply to untamed!lwj. which most people are writing for. i guess this is also true of song lan but i have more of a sense of "if you care a lot about song lan you should do your due diligence in hunting for scraps of characterization" whereas caring about untamed!lwj and not reading the book is like. yeah okay fair enough. to me.

tgcf: ooooh. hard one. my immediate instinct is mu qing bc i follow the tag and have to read way too much mu qing slander but i have in fact read good mu qing fic.... might stand by that anyway tho. the tgcf tag is like 50% mu qing slander by volume and it makes me sad. mu qing get behind me bby i'll protect u ;-;

dream SMP: hahaha. ha. what character DOESN'T dsmp fandom get wrong. it gets tommy wrong it gets techno wrong it gets phil wrong it gets puffy and niki and hannah wrong it gets dream wrong it gets purpled wrong it gets quackity wrong it gets sam wrong it gets schlatt wrong it gets karl wrong it gets george wrong it gets wilbur wrong it gets LITERALLY EVERYONE wrong. constantly. the only times it doesn't get someone wrong is when it's forgotten that they exist at all (this is about the eggpire but it's also about eryn and fundy and jack manifold and i'm sure many many others i'm not currently remembering). im giving the prize for Getting It Wrong to phil, though. i don't even LIKE phil. but everyone who writes him gets him wrong. they are just writing Generic Bad Dad or Generic Good Dad. he's got traits! i promise!

ok actually since this one's my current special interest i'll go a bit more in depth. tommy's rude & annoying & a fighter, he very very rarely has the sort of fawn response ppl write. techno is funny but he's got emotions and he is usually acting based on those emotions; if you're writing him in s1 he's less based than you think and if you're writing him in s3 he's more based than you think. phil has traits other than being a dad and also if you can't accurately identify which characters he is and is not a dad to then you don't get to write him. puffy, niki, and hannah all have traits other than being women; no, "therapist", "girlboss", and "mom friend" don't count. purpled is not particularly a Manipulated Minor TM, he's an amoral mercenary, he's kinda fucked up by isolation but he's more like punz than he is like tommy or tubbo. none of quackity, sam, and dream are one-dimensional characters whose only trait is Sadistic Abuser but also if you write them without acknowledging that they're sadistic abusers (with the exception of writing about early dsmp/before The Horrors) then you're doing it wrong. same goes for schlatt but with the addition of "he should not under literally any circumstances talk like he's got a tumblr". karl's more of a bitch than that. so's george. wilbur is more of an asshole and less of a creep than that. i could go on literally forever the dsmp fandom gets every single character wrong & it is my burden to be right about all of them u_u

“all that hetero fic” the tumblr user complains about cononically bi/pan characters, in a universe where a character being bi/pan until proven otherwise is the norm. it’s also a world where expressions of gender are different, so identifying a relationship as “het” is more of a generalization than a rule

and I really don’t understand what you mean by people don’t know how to tag? I mean, it definitely happens that authors don’t know what the hell they’re doing, but I think this might be you, taking things out of context. I looked at your spreadsheet about what characters appear under the m/m, m/f, and f/f tags, and I don’t think your stats take into account the fact that the authors can pick as many of the gender relationship tags as they want when they’re publishing a fic. for example, if an author writes a fic that ships Astarion/Gale, Lae’zel/Shadowheart, and Karlach/Wyll, they could choose to apply the m/m, f/f, and m/f tags for their fic. therefore, you would see canonically male characters, like Astarion, showing up when you select fics with the f/f relationship tag, unless you know how to filter fics that exclusively use one relationship tag or another

have some sense of perspective, and if you’re really so uninterested in reading “het” fic, AO3 has plenty of tutorials on their social media pages and on their own website that explain how to use the tagging system to its full advantage

smells like astarion stan got offended about statistics that show the big issue in all fandoms ever, that tag everyone and their mothers in the fics and it is impossible to find fics about ships or character that are about them and are not just mentioned

It's me. I'm authority lmao.

I am fine. And when I came to your blog to check in on you this morning I saw your post about me and it both made me feel very warm, but also very bad. I really did just peace out on all of you without much of an explanation or even a "hey I'm leaving" and that was shitty of me, wasn't it?

It's kind of a long story, but the highlights are that I just didn't want to be on Tumblr or Discord anymore, there are a lot of reasons for that but the reasons aren't as important as the fact that since I've deleted it and decided I'm done with social media - God I've felt so much better. About myself, about my life, about my goals...it's been nice. I do miss you, my heart cloud loving friend, and I miss so many others as well and me leaving had nothing to do with you or them in any way and I hope that nobody thinks it does. I miss talking to you all on a daily basis and it's very tempting to say "screw it, I'm coming back" but I was becoming way too obsessed. Obsessed with writing fanfiction, obsessed with numbers and follower counts. Obsessed and angry over drama that had absolutely nothing to do with me whatsoever...I can't do that again. I wasn't happy unless my phone was in my face and it was too easy to lose that happiness when something I didn't want to see was on my screen. I didn't like me very much.

I miss writing and I am a little sour that I've totally lost some of my stories because I 100% wrote them in Tumblr Drafts so they are gone forever (RIP Batteries, Ships, and Build a BF and lots of others). I miss you. I miss @moni-logues and I miss everyone in our server. I miss lots of others too but I'm not going to tag them all because I don't want to make a scene lmao.

I hope you are well. All of you. I hope you're all happy. Please know that I think of you often. Please know that I care about you all. Please be kind to one another. social platforms besides goodreads are not here to help reader experience. goodreads is the place to leave reviews for BOOK YOU EITHER PAYED FOR OR THE AUTHOR HAS PROFESSIONALLY PUBLISHED FOR WIDER CONSUMPTION.

i love goodreads too and criticism of books I FIND AT BARNES AND NOBLES😁… because i’m able to avoid things like bad grammar, bad literary skills, poc and queer trauma porn, and other shit i don’t wanna be exposed to.

what i do think is valid, is asking a fic writer to tag properly. i’ve read shit and been blindsided cuz “dead dove” tags weren’t added. i’ve even asked and they’ve made it a point to belittle me. i thought it was a good fic in terms of plot but i wanted to be able to blacklist those words for if they wrote more content. but they completely turned me off due to how they responded so i just never wanted to read more of their work.

i didn’t harass them because frankly it had content i didn’t like (not anything that would make me question their overall morality, unless you count the not tagging, but that’s a bit much). instead i just blocked them and moved on.

there have been times where the grammar in a fic was really bad, the formatting of a fic had huge gaps that made reading difficult, or they didn’t put a cut on their fic. i didn’t contact them, i just blocked them.

so for the love of baby jesus, just block. only when you feel that something DETRIMENTAL is being posted like WHITE SUPREMACIST MANIFESTO or SOCIALLY TABOO type shit is being PROMOTED (they need to actually believe in this shit) in someone’s writing and has built a following of like-minded people, then really the troops so we can deal with it.

but bad grammar or that yandere fics with non-con in is not something to be harassing people over.

(some folks writing language is not their first so they’re learning thru writing or they’re a native speaker who still messes up/has a disability and just because some likes to write/read dark fics doesn’t mean they advocate such acts. plus while it may not be the healthiest, it’s some people’s coping mechanisms and i can’t blame them cuz a good therapist is hard to find and even harder to pay for —at least in the US)

so go read shit you actually like. and if you just so feeeeel it in yo spirit to rate some fics and leave bad reviews download Calibre Library and have at it. it is only seen by you and on your computer. so make that your lil hate diary or whateva🙄

i had a normal childhood, you know.

used to be that one kid that get an A and stay sad for an entire week that it wasnt an A+. used books to escape from reality since i read my first letter, so the first time i read romeo and juliet, i was 5 years old. it was an old copy with some eldritch language that i couldnt quite grasp at the time, too many details passed unnoticed.

but besides the introversion and shyness that appeared out of the blue when i turned 4, it was pretty common. my parents never laid a finger in me, nor threatened to do so.

how i wish they had.

of course, i never gave them reasons to do so, but many do it without reason, let alone a good one, so sometimes i wonder what would have happened if i wasnt too tame.

if i had questioned more. had complained more. screamed and cried and asked for more. i wonder how long would it be before they had lost their temper.

pretty long, thats for sure. they were always so controlled.

i guess, thats the entire point now. the stoicism to which i was exposed since birth couldnt make much good for a child. never experiencing the bad sides means the good sides were, too, hidden; never being hit also means that i never felt desired.

see, i did feel loved sometimes. when my mom brushed my hair before school. when my dad would let me mess with his hair while he was watching the news. when theyd both hold my hands when we were walking to the market to buy some bread for dinner.

but there was a time where it all would come to an end. i couldnt feel desired when mom decided she was done brushing my hair, and i had to decide between learn how to take care of it or cut it at the age of 6. and i certainly didnt feel desired when my dad wouldnt lift and carry me anymore at the age of 8. (he couldnt for health reasons, but of course my 8 years old self could never compreehend it).

now im 19 years old. since i was 14, ive been craving something, but could never get close enough to see what it was - or i was too aware of it, and therefore too scared of not being able to hide that side of mine. i took out the blanket that hid it, some time ago, and came to the conclusion that i crave suffering.

not the emotional kind, that i have a lot. you cant go unharmed from "gifted child, parents pride and joy" to "burnt out queer young adult".

i crave the physical counterpart of it. i crave a reason, a good one, something that justifies the intense unhappyness, this indifference and apathy thats always creeping around the corners, hiding in plain sight.

i crave broken arms and black eyes, i crave bruises and crooked noses and raw knuckles. i crave a few broken teeth and a blood-red stained record in school, with a few too many fights and a few too little good grades.

i crave the disappointment and the freedom it brings when no one expects nothing else from you.

i crave intenseness and adrenaline. i crave jumpscares and fist fights, and damn right, i crave pain.

i know im the sane one in this discussion as there are like, entire fanfic exchange formats, that hinge on anonymous reading and anonymous WRITING even - like the kink memes. people are aware they are not obligated to air their every kink to every internet rando. and not even every kink - i saw a bunch of entirely sfw works on ao3 and even good old ffnet with "kink meme deanon" in the title/tags. an anon requested each of them.

i do not tend to go there but i know of their existence and a bit about how they operate.

and they know their anonymous asker probably wont reshare your response to their prompt anywhere and give you clout, and they are fine with it. theyre happy with the anonymous feedback the asker leaves, without wanting their entire fic reading history. and theyre not frothing at the mouth that someone dare not to just read, but to ASK for fic without identifying themselves.

all i wanted to say is there are always people who are going to read quietly. even people who dont have a tumblr may, heavens forbid, read your fic! all i wanted to say is that if you say you will block people for liking, they would just prefer to not let you know they were here at all! thats it!

i was doing nothing at first on ao3. then realized just giving kudos is easy and does not have to put my name to it but still makes the authors day a little better. then trying writing small comments even if under an anon identity. baby kitten steps. if you dont discourage someone from just liking at first, then maybe later they can get comfier with leaving comments/reblogging/putting tags?? see my header 👆 small steppy is better than no steppy.

or they dont. but you know they went on your page and caught up with everything you have written - how cool is that??? someone didnt just find you on the dash, but went looking for you. thats so great?

those writers are giving the energy of that incident when si//ms pat//reon mods creators who put identifiers in their patr//eon downloads and put people on blast publicly for sharing with someone. except here, they didnt even take any sale or paid content from you. is there really a place for this behavior? for this fighting over who owes whom more? its fandom. freely given. freely taken.

to end on a positive note, i love the writers whom i left anon feedback, i love when they responded to it happy, and i know i could give them my love without having to give them my reading history, or interests, or the little notes about my life, and it doesnt matter that i didnt give them that. i gave the love and it was enough.

Explanation for my choices under the cut cuz I love rambling

*sigh* yes, I did have a Wattpad phase and my old account was my wattpad account. And I write on ao3 now so it's allg.

And *sighs even more* yes, i did use to roleplay online a few years ago. Before I changed my whole tumblr theme, and tumblr groupchats used to exist, me and a few people got really passionate and made DC OC personas, created a discord server and did it for like a very little while. It was cool and fun. We had plans. But we lost interest, but it was fun while it happened. Btw our roleplay was basically us OCs meeting the Batfam

I beta-read for a lot of friends! And i love it! Most of my fics are unbeta-ed. It's a personal choice. And most of my fics are self-indulgent. The angsty ones are the most self-indulgent.

Most of my comments consist of keysmashes and screams. Sprite can attest to that (and a whole lot of other authors). I have concerned her with my screams. I always leave second kudos on multi-chap fics. Doesn't matter if i know that i left kudos or not. I will leave second kudos.

Boy do i go feral over fluff fics.

It is a literary genre and I ama doing my school research project on it.

I circled this cuz I was unsure. I am in a l o t of fandoms, but I read and write fanfic for a very selective few of them. Currently, it's all DC. But I used to write for Marvel, lotr, ninjago, uhhh sumth sumth idk. I do know there were more than 4 along with DC so. I also might soon be writing for danny phantom. Idk.

I love the whole process of writing. Researching, outlining, writing, editing, tagging, author's notes, formatting, posting. Everything. The whole process.

I do wait for comments and feedback and stuff, but not anxiously. Which is why i didnt highlight it. I want the whole writing and fanfic thing to be chill and fun, so time and time again i remind myself to take a breather and not jump at the comments. I even put a limit. I only visit my inbox once a day.

I Feel More Than A Simple "Miss You" is awesome and i would like more people to read it cuz i'm really really proud of the special feature (rhyming) i put in it. It would do better as a podfic though. But I like to keep my voice to myself cuz online safety so.

The other circle is cuz being a professional writer has been a dream and an unsinkable and tireless goal of mine since i was 10 (which was when i discovered that books were actually published by people). And i havent given that up. But being a fanfic writer... i consider it as my dream being fulfilled. But I still do want to publish a novel. Not now and not soon, i am satisfied for now, but maybe later in the future.
