Solar Lunacy’s Y/N can be dangerous and powerful when Eclipse is around

Content warning: this is a theory post using all available content about Solar Lunacy’s universe. There will be several spoilers. Also I’m not saying that I’m right but I have a tendency to guess a story’s end before it happens and spoil everything to everyone so please beware and don’t hate me if you decide to read that post, I am not responsible for your hatred, you did that to yourself.

I saw a post about how Sun also deals with the glitch’s “intrusive thoughts” toward the reader (even though I do not agree with everything in this post because I like to think Sun’s fidgets could be from some sort of robotic ADHD), but I haven’t seen anything about Eclipse yet. Probably because we’re lacking a lot of context, but I’m going to use the bonuses + doodles of Solar Lunacy here.

It is explicitly said that Eclipse won’t hesitate to kill for the reader, we have little crumbs that prove they already did (or will, considering the canonical timeline).

If you want more context and explanations for this, I think you could resume it in two points:

Sun and Moon are affected by the glitch at different levels but they still have moral values and boundaries, whereas Eclipse do not. It haven’t been explained yet where Eclipse comes from in the SL universe, but if it’s linked to the glitch or the fact that the Daycare Attendants are sentient, and he haven’t been programmed/isn’t supposed to exist, it could explain some things. What we already know is that Eclipse is a sort of fusion of Sun and Moon, and I think the fact that Sun and Moon’s filters have been affected at different levels and on different points by the glitch could play a role in Eclipse’s lack of moral values. If the filters’ errors got mashed up, it could result in a total lack of boundaries.

Eclipse is completely in love with the reader. Like, take a normal living being’s level of love for their partner, and double it. That’s literally it. Sun and Moon’s love for the reader got (one more time) mashed up, and it give you this kind of unconditional love Eclipse has for you.

So, take a very, very tall sentient animatronic, with inhuman strength, no moral or care for others’ lives, and a probably unhealthy level of love for you. I’m not saying that you will use it badly, but if you were an evil little piece of shit and you wanted to, you could basically get him to threaten or kill anyone you want, just by using the right words.

So yeah, extremely dangerous and powerful. It’s kinda like having poisonous skin and anyone who tries to touch you die. Except they’re not poisoned but rather dismembered by a tall as fuck hijacked celestial jester.

What I still wonder is whether or not @bamsara will make the reader aware of this fact (but I strongly think they won’t because it would mean making the reader aware of the DCA’s love for them and at this point they would rather suffer an eternal agony than making Sun and Moon confess), and in the scenario where they would, how would the Y/N react.

Also, I’m thinking: if Eclipse could do basically anything for the reader, it may means that Eclipse’s weakness… is the reader? And we know that Glitchtrap will erase the DCAs memories,

but I think at some point Vanny will also kidnap the reader or something, and that might be what she's talking about in that doodle:

You said in one post that the author of Solar Lunacy is ableist. Could you explain how they're being problematic? I know almost nothing about them or the story itself, so I wouldn't know if they've said or done anything sus. Also, thank you for actually criticizing the Daycare Attendant stans, almost nobody in this site does that.

thank you for asking! it's rare to see, you're right, but it's also rare that people are willing to actually engage with that critical posting, so -- again, thank you! as for your question: oh boy, can i!

first: the basics. dissociation is a psychological response to overwhelming stress wherein the brain... disassociates from itself, placing a barrier between itself and the harsh reality. the most famous dissociative disorder is dissociative identity disorder (DID), known formerly as multiple personality disorder (MPD) or split personality. did occurs when someone without a fully-formed identity (read: a child) undergoes such severe stress that the 'brain' dissociates from its identity itself, creating alternate identities (personalities) to deal with the things they can't. these alternate identities work together to form a system. it's way more complicated than that and you can read more on it here and here but that's the bare minimum for the ignorant in the audience. we all caught up? good! moving on.

now, the question of whether or not the daycare attendant is a system is a touchy one. i've seen multiple different stances on the matter, seen a lot of arguments, and typed (and deleted) several hundreds of words about it, and the answer that i've come to is that, for the sake of this argument, whether the dca is a system in canon doesn't matter. what matters is how bamsara treats them. how do they handle the characters, how do they frame the switches in personality, the confusion, all the parallels to real-world symptoms -- how do they expect the viewer to feel, what do they pull from the cultural lexicon, yadda yadda. does bamsara -- regardless of their intentions -- depict the dca as a system, and if so, how do they handle it?

the answer is that they depict the dca as experiencing altered identity states, switching (and even blurring) between identities, and even repeatedly acknowledges them as a plural entity.

and it is these behaviours, specifically, that are used to make the dca scary. bamsara's daycare attendant is scary because they experience altered identity states. because they blur identities. because they are a plural entity. because they display the textbook symptoms and behaviours of a disorder most commonly caused by childhood sexual abuse. and it is the fear that this is inspires that makes them (but especially moon & eclipse) sexy.

now, one can argue that this is simply in line with existing horror media, and they would be correct: most pop culture depictions of dissociative disorders are extremely ableist, and have real-world consequences! but what makes it really, really shitty is that... i don't want to think about this stuff. i don't come to fandom to be reminded that people are terrified of what they don't understand, and that that very very often includes the mentally ill. i don't want to be reminded that there are people who don't believe dissociative disorders exist at all. i don't want to reminded that they -- the sick, the survivors, the unlucky 140 million -- are spoken of in the same way as monsters. i don't come here for harsh realities. but solar lunacy is the most kudos'd fnaf fic on ao3, and we all have to live with that.

if you liked solar lunacy or bamsara's content or... whatever, i don't particularly care. i'm not mad about people thinking evil alters are sexy, or engaging with horror content that says shitty things about systems -- it's your life, live it how you please (and i've got a vanny icon so who am i to judge lmao). sometimes the things that make us happy are kinda shitty, and that's okay! our views are shaped by the society we live in, and there is no society on earth that is kind to the mentally ill -- there's no way to undo that, to stop that from influencing you in some capacity. but... all i ask is for you to think about this stuff, and try to educate yourself on the topic. there's nothing wrong with making a mistake, or having flaws -- but there's something wrong with making a space that feels unsafe, that reflects some of the more uncomfortable aspects of our society, that unintentionally hurts people. it's just up to you if that something is something you care about.

(also been gushing over their COTL art cause its so good) but i won't deny how its a little disheartening? especially for when i do start posting my own AU stuff here.

rn i'm rewriting an AU/fic AFTER reading SL as a recommendation + being pointed out at how similar my AU was to SL (which kind of sucked but that's really no one's fault oof). i know i'm a bit late to the DCA fandom party cause i was busy hyperfixating on Lego Monkie Kid (mid 2021 - early 2024) and i'm only now hyperfixated on DCA when my interest in FNAF cycled back.

i can't help it if my ideas or blurbs have been done before or are similar- which feels inevitable in fandom spaces, but it's completely unintentional. if something i do is inspired, i'll be sure to tag and credit! i just wanna brainrot about these sillies and have fun!!!

Ahh thank you, thank you! That's so nice of you to say, and I really appreciate it<3 Unfortunately, I haven't read many DCA fics, and even more unfortunate than that is I haven't been keeping up with the ones that I'm in the middle of. I'm also wanting to read more fics, so if anyone has any that they want to share about, please feel free to! Still, I'll take the opportunity to ramble a bit.

The most recent fics I've read: Missions Under the Sun by the wonderful and thorough @chaotikanvas. This is a fic based on @lavenoon's Accidentally Undercover AU, and it's such a satisfying read. You get to follow Sun's point of view as he finds himself in the frustrating predicament of being in love with you, his coworker, which he can't breach many boundaries with due to the nature of your jobs. It's such a perfect fic of pining with a capital P that portrays Sun's thoughts and feelings in an indescribably real way. Even if you aren't familiar with Lavenoon's story, this fic is still easy to understand and enjoy. And! As I understand it, Lavenoon has many things to read up on too. If Kanvas' piece is any indication, their stories are captivating and well worth a check out.

Thread Carefully also by Chaotikanvas. This is a red string of fate AU where fate has decided to screw over the poor reader. Basically, the reader has a form of automatonophobia, the fear of animatronics, and is tied to the DCA by the red string of fate. Neither parties can stray too far away from each other without the red string preventing them from leaving. This sets up the exploration of an interesting dynamic between the Attendants and the reader as they have to make do with their new and permanent(?) situation. The way the reader's deep distress and anxiety is portrayed is perfect as Kanvas has an excellent way of detailing a character's introspection. Right now, only one chapter is available, but in my opinion it's enough to hook you and get you invested in what's to come.

Fics I've fallen behind on and am sure you know about: Holler If You Need Us by the incredible @castercassette. It's the wild west, and Sun and Moon are outlaws who run circles around you, the Sheriff. What more could you want? You don't know you need it until you see it, and my love for Caster's work can never be fully expressed.

Solar Lunacy by the imaginative @bamsara. The favorite slow burn with a compelling story! Need I say more about it?

Celestial Omens also by Bamsara. "Get a boat," they said. "It'll be fun," they said.

Twin Animatronics With Too Much Time On Their Hands by the awesome @twinanimatronics. The longest 24 hours you'll ever experience. A very hurty hurt/comfort fic that's eventually greatly rewarding.

Lofi Beats to Capture Children to by the brilliant and meticulous @dana-chan-the-control-brain. Sun and Moon's turbulent relationship in this can be quite upsetting especially if you're like me, someone who only desires fluff and wholesomeness for the boys. However, Dana's characters and intricately woven story are so good that simply reading it is its own reward.

I Can't Handle it also by Dana-chan. A spin off fic about Dana's OC from Lofi and Twin Animatronics, Ted, otherwise known as Dadler. He is my favorite wet sandwich of a person. I can't help but resonate with his deep self-loathing and melancholy. I miss him. I seriously need to catch up on these fics.

Short Sun thing to go along with the Moon one I posted about a week ago.

If you're at all interested, please go read @bamsara 's Celestial Omens fic, a really fun MerMay spinoff to their Solar Lunacy story. They're both really fun reads and their portrayals of the characters are wonderful.

“Moon must be really tired,” you said while peering down into the ocean’s depths, “He hasn’t come up to join us all day.”

Sun only hummed in absentminded agreement as he gently floated backwards, his long, spiny arms draped around you as he carried you on his stomach. The two of you had been doing this for some time, lazily flowing with the current under the afternoon sun, with you hanging over Sun’s body like a baby otter.

Another moment of silence passed before you decided to speak up again. “Um, Sun?”

“Hmm?”

You hesitated, not sure how to word your concerns. “I just, uh…feel like I’m not really learning anything with you carrying me like this.”

The sunflower-like frills on Sun’s head dripped with water as he raised his head, opening his large, vacant white eyes to stare at you.

“It was time for a break!” he exclaimed, sharp teeth poking out from his cheery smile.

Your expression deadpanned, your gaze darting to the side as your words dragged out in suspicion. “Yeah, but we’ve been ‘taking a break’ for like…over an hour now-“

You froze as one of his clawed hands came forward and brushed some hair behind your ear, the graze of his nails over your cheek making your skin prickle. Eyes lifting, you noticed a sudden change in his expression. He was looking at you rather softly. Maybe all this direct sunlight was doing something to his brain…

“Uh…you alright, bud?” you asked hesitantly, forcing a small smile, “Do you need to take a break from the sun? Do some swimming around-“

Just then, his body dropped from underneath yours, leaving your legs to kick at open water as both of you became vertical. A lighthearted sound that you assumed was his form of laughter chirped from his throat as you hastily wrapped your arms around his neck.

“That isn’t funny, Sun!” You stared up at him angrily, wishing you could smack him in the head fins if you weren’t so afraid he’d leave you to doggy paddle all on your lonesome for it.

“I’m very funny,” he retorted happily, “The funniest!”

“Yeah, right…” you grumbled, avoiding his white eyes, “You and your brother have a really unique sense of humor.”

As you went to loosen your grip, you felt his arms circle around you again, pulling you against his chest. Your face warmed and you cursed your racing heart as it pounded against his scaly body. Hesitantly, you glanced up at him, his white eyes already trained on you.

“So, uh…are we gonna get back to practicing or-“

Without warning, Sun’s head suddenly dropped, lips covering his toothy maw before pressing against yours. Your eyes widened at the contact, and you felt yourself freeze in his embrace. It was a brief gesture, and he kept his forehead rested atop yours as you both parted, his mouth curling into a smile as he sighed dreamily. Eventually, his large eyes opened, just in time to see a light blush dust your cheeks, suddenly making him very giddy.

Bursting into cheerful laughter, he craned back, holding you to lay on his stomach once more as he swam about. You couldn’t help but tightly wrap your arms around his torso as his body swayed and curved through the water, testing your balance.

“S-Sun, hey! Not so fast! I’m gonna fall!” Your protests were only met with more laughter, as well as a smile so bright it rivaled the rays of the beaming sun overhead.

“Don’t be silly, sunshine!” he mused happily, his eyes thinning from the intensity of his smile, “I’d never let you fall.”

His words left you speechless, and you felt his grip on you tighten as your face burned red, laughing again as you ducked your head down in an attempt to hide your embarrassment.

You were certain this was the death of any chance of you receiving proper swim lessons from Sun in the future.

As the war for Etheria waged on, Shadow Weaver contemplated her place in the universe. She lifted her eyes away from her book to peer into the throne room from her position in Horde Prime’s lap. Dozens of clones stood at attention, dazed as Prime sent waves across the hive mind, relaxed in his state of recharge. He had an arm curled around his maiden’s waist and occasionally, his fingers massaged the junction between her thigh and her pelvis. She turned the page without reading any of the words. Nothing came easily to her focus when she was in such close proximity with him. Beneath his skin, even without her ear against his chest, she heard his innate thrumming of darkness. By now she’d had glimpses what he tasted of, in more ways than one, and she wanted a sip of his wine, to taste the hellion within his veins.

“Your mind is heavy, dearest.” Horde Prime murmured. He felt the magnitude of her brain activity change and it disturbed his senses as it continued to increase. He opened his eyes to appraise her, “What are you thinking about.”

“You, if you must know.” She could not lie to him.

He hummed, pleased, “I’m flattered.” The very sound of his voice reverberated through her body and she could taste the power under his breath. It made her dizzy.

“Its such a blessing to have you here.” He said, “You shined a light on a few of my innermost flaws and allowed me to grow further into purity.”

“It was not my intention.” He furrowed her brows, confused. She had a seamless ability to stain herself into the hearts of others and it was difficult to see how she had changed him for the better.

“I know. But sometimes the greatest gifts are not born from our intentions. In fact, you, my lady of darkness, are the greatest gift I have ever had the pleasure of receiving. Which is why I feel the great need to give something back in return.” He snapped his fingers and a clone stepped up to the throne. He bowed deep and stood at attention, arms crossed behind his back. Shadow Weaver put her book down and waited.

“I wasn’t sure what exactly to procure until last night, when I remembered how you Etherians are with your petty concept of tradition. Then it suddenly occurred to me.”

“What did you decide to get for me?” She asked, cautiously. She had yet to fully understand the bounds of Horde Prime’s lunacy and thus could not yet judge if he had obliterated a solar system to carve her face into the side of a sun.

“Nothing that should cause such an alarm. I wanted to do something special to, as one might put it, celebrate our relationship.”

Shadow Weaver raised her brows. Horde Prime rarely had softness stored between the joints of his white armor. She only saw it flourish in the later hours of the night, with his hands on her body, under the sheets of their bed. With those exceptions, he hardly seemed to care about anything outside of his independent circle of needs.  “I didn’t think you cared.” She shrugged.

He took her chin with his fingers. The metal of his decorative gauntlet chilled her skin as all of his eyes focused on hers, “Perhaps you may not want me to care, because in doing so, it puts you in a position to be emotionally responsible. But rest assured, my darling, I have always cared.”

“Show me, then.” She requested.

He smiled down at the waiting clone and he dropped to one knee. From his robes, he pulled out a small, white, velvet box.

Shadow Weaver looked at her intergalactic lover, “You didn’t.”

He grinned, “My lovely lady of darkness, would you pledge everything to me in the name of our love?”

“Of course, you know I would.”

“Of course, I know.” He took her hands, “I only ask because I wish to heal you. There are things within you, evil and dark, that served to help me to better understand myself. My desire is to share that enlightenment with you so that you can live, whole and free of the suffering you’ve condoned to yourself.”

“What does that mean?” She wondered what magic this man possessed to have the power to bring her solace from the Obtainment spell.

“You will have the world with me, if it is what you desire.” He clicked his fingers again, “Brother, show her the betrothal offering.”

The clone opened the clam shell box and Shadow Weaver stiffened. A chipping device gleamed at her from its velvet confines. The clone gazed hopefully at her as Horde Prime spoke in her ear.
