Ok, yeah, fuck, good bait, Pokemas. Touché. I wasn't expecting Nemona and will probably Scout her since I am in a decent range with my Gems. Provided she isn't stubborn like Rose was, but I can do at least most of the stages and get their free gems.

Gloria has Cinderace (barring us with the Kanto starters, I think this would make her the first protagonist in the game to have three starter Pokemon), Leon gets Dragapult. They, along with Nemona, are Pokefair. Also, like the Galar trainers, seems the Paldea characters will have accents too:

But we get Olympia and Drasna (Sigilyph and Dragalge, btw. Finally, some spotlight Scouts after like 6 months) and still no Malva? Gimme best girl already! 😢 I guess they're counting her as one of the villain admins even if she never actually got a chance to take that role in-game?

Also, the shot of Paulo with all the other main-series villains. I really do love that we finally have a friendly rival turned enemy, will be cool if the next arc focuses on him and Hoopa Unbound going no-mercy vs. the other villains.

i think the problem with pokemas to me is that there isn't actually that many interactions between cross generation characters. like it's a huge crossover game but red and silver haven't interacted ONCE???? you barely see characters becoming friends with characters outside of their game not counting the ocs. they haven't even the obvious interactions like irida meet bw era ingo. like. that's such an easy cool interaction and im fucking sick and tired of pla submas shit.

why bother with a crossover if the characters just usualy stick around with the other characters from their game

Water-Type Masters High Score Event Challenge in Pokemas

Yeah the r/pokemonmasters subreddit might provide way better resources but I’m still boycotting reddit and I feel like sharing these details to those it may help.

Quick Notes:

You will not get every parameter. Much like Champion Stadium, it’s impossible to clear with everything.

You must have 1 water type on all 5 teams. Bonus if it’s a Main Character, which is pretty common between Spotlight general pool and Trainers Lodge free units.

Rewards max at 180,000 so don’t worry if your last fight is tough if you’ve already cleared. I’m only doing this cause I’m an idiot.

You do get gems for clearing the fights so if this module is not your interest, just clear it with the bare minimum and get those gems at least.

You can take the fights in any order, I will be talking about them in order, left to right.

I find the ‘right’ level of Strength Increase difficulty for me is 250 with full Water teams. Anything above makes the fights significantly harder.

If you don’t have full Water teams, you may need to increase Strength difficulty to earn points. I think the Strength difficulty is to provide a resource for those with few Water units/people who only ever pulled Anni Red/Ash and thought they could clear everything for the rest of their lives lol. You basically need to clear with immediate sync nuking at expert level and above, so good luck.

You need to pay attention to parameters when setting up your teams.

More details below cut. I will not be going over much for f2p but the notes I do have on f2p units you can take and apply as needed. I can post sync grids as requested.

VS Misty

Lodge Silver, Eusine, SS Kris

The hardest fight before Archie is the first. You cannot use SS Lysandre here. You NEED a rain or sun setter.

I used SS Kris for my rain but technically May could work here too, or use Winona. I have no idea if NC Calem counts, typically type-changers do not count as a Water Type but it would count towards your Main Character at least.

Getting frozen is pretty unlucky, you’ll want to reset.

The new Eusine unit is pretty great here, the only downside is he can’t trap with Whirlpool so he misses that extra passive buff a little. Lodge Silver Was just a water unit I could throw in but I gave him Stoic 2 lucky skill from the silver-level pink cookies so he can keep buffing. More stats= more points.

VS Marlon

Lana, NC Serena, Swimsuit Misty

RIP anyone who didn’t get the free Swimsuit Misty tbh. This parameter requires NO strike sync pairs, so you need to optimize a good tech unit but possibly save those like Nessa for the monster that is Archie.

The reason for this parameter is simple: the sides are brutal. Marlon’s teammates hit so hard, they’ll easily OHKO your main attacker. This is why you need a good free Lana here with Wide Guard to shield from Rock Slide. You won’t even need to shield Surf because of her passive Team Water Guard.

Swimsuit Misty has a lot of bulk, healing, and provides stat increases. NC Serena is good even at 1/5 to handle the rest. Alternatives... any good tech. Probably Dojo Gloria? Idk.

VS Lana

SS Misty, May, SS Blue

This is the first time I really used SS Misty and it worked pretty well. She’s extremely good for Haze, removing their buffs, and Mist for preventing more stat decreases. Even more importantly, her sync grid allows for the chance of sync propulsion with the use of Mist and Haze. It only worked once, but it works when I most needed it to pop May’s sync before Lana could sync.

SS Blue is one of the best tanks in the game but even he will struggle if you don’t remove their stats. He was dying in 2-3 hits, the game here is to kill quickly and get a little lucky with accuracy drops on May.

Probably my most f2p friendly team here. May is always a queen.

VS Nessa

SS Lysandre, Archie, Elio

My easiest fight hands down but look at this ridiculous team, of course it was. This fight requires burn, so good luck to anyone without SS Lysandre, I guess.

This was super simple, burn, then kill.

VS Archie

Marlon, Nessa, Hilbert

I technically haven’t won yet but I’ve gotten so so so close on this team or with SS Grimsley it’s painful I can’t clear yet. The good news is I’ve already cleared 250 on the previous 4 fights so it doesn’t matter, but I wanna clear similarly for principle now.

Hilbert has X Speed evasion option in his grid which is surprisingly helpful. Waterfall only works so many times to flinch. Marlon raises defenses and can take some of the aggro, if you get very very lucky in his grid, you can even get Unyielding 2 immortality. Most importantly, Marlon decreases speed.

Nessa or SS Grimsley both hit very hard and physically, which is the parameter of this fight. There’s no special options. So uh, lol. I’m having slightly better luck with Nessa since she can raise her own crit rate without taking 90% HP loss, and her Ripple Effect does help with Carvanha.

Truly, the Carvanha are the menace here. Rip me.

Group-that-has-Ingo-anon here, I'm back already! No update on the game, but I was wondering if you could tell me about Ingo and Emmet's personalities? I play TTRPGs and I'm thinking about making twin characters who have a similar dynamic!! I'd look this info up but I'd rather hear it from someone who loves them a lot because that's more fun. :)

Heya! Sorry for late reply this required a little bit of time since my memory is hazy and im mentally in 748 different places lately 😅 I explained all i remembered, they're kinda basic and anecdotal, but I hope it helps! (also if other sbms fans notice anything missing please add to this post)

Submas have very little screen time so most of their personalities are my (and fans') interpretation of their lines in game. There are more if you count pokemas interactions/lines as canon (which i do, considering how in-character they are)

First of all, their similarities are obviously they both love trains and battling so much. They take huge pride in their responsibility as train conductors and battle facility leaders. In pokemas, they also seem to take great interest in trains in other regions which use different energy(?) (i don't remember who said it but one of them talked about it). As twins they're always in sync, from their appearance to battles.

Although they're identical twins, they have different personalities, Ingo seems to be more formal, he speaks respectfully and behaves in a way that you'd see in an official setting. In contrast, Emmet is less so, his sentences are shorter and to the point, giving more 'chill' vibes imo. Because of this, ingo is regarded as the more public facing brother, while emmet is more 'personal' with you (i think this is fitting in-game bc you'll see ingo first due to their battle requirements)

Since I don't remember all the details, I also asked my followers on twitter to remind me and here are some of their responses:

Also some juicy pokemas interactions that i like: In the butler costume, Ingo asked you to help watch out Emmet since he's new to this butler gig 🥺 Ingo also has gap moe, he doesn't realise his face is not smiling, even though he's having fun battling. Meanwhile, Emmet has expressed that he really respects Ingo, and he believes they're the best combination when battling.

These are all i could write atm 😅 sorry if it's not in depth but i hope it gives you a picture of their personalities! I also really recommend you listen to their pokemas voicelines, the vas did a great job and you can really see their personalities shine!

{I have been writing Archer since 2013, back in the days of him having only a handful of written lines of dialogue in HG/SS. If you wanted to look a little harder at FR/LG and Stadium 2, you could technically add another handful of lines to that count but you were still left with barely anything to draw inspiration from. You could also go a little further and look at the AI for his NPC in the HG/SS games (wherein he is coded to be as tough a fight as a same-level gym leader, giving him a higher difficulty count than all previous Rocket encounters with Ariana coming in as a close second with gym-trainer-level AI) to get an idea of what the developers wanted you to think about his character and how they wanted you to come away from his encounter but, again, there still wasn't much in the way of official inspiration (which, to be clear, there's no complaint there; it meant there was a door left wide open for anyone to interpret him as they would like to and heaven knows I've taken every ounce of advantage of that as I could over the years).

{Then he comes back in Let's Go, Pikachu!/Eevee! and we get all this additional dialogue and can I just say how much I absolutely adore every single line of his in those games? It's so easy for Game Freak to take a character, especially a very little-known and often forgotten character like Archer, and just absolutely ruin them by just completely forgetting/disregarding what they had established for them originally and going in a completely different direction or by shafting them entirely in some other form or fashion (by, say, giving them a poorly accented voiceline in PokeMas, for instance, which I'm grateful to say is not the case for Archer) and yet it feels genuine to Archer's character and what little is established to be his personality/manner of speaking when he makes his appearance in LGPE.

{I was, briefly, absolutely devastated by the quote in LGPE where he writes the player-character a letter, waxing poetic about how happy he was for them and how much he didn't hold a grudge and all this sappy nonsense that was not in keeping with his character at all. Having read the quote online (but not having experienced it in game yet), I was convinced Game Freak had ruined my favorite character and I was resolute to not even go through with facing him a third time in game. Then, bored and frustrated and giving in because it was a chance to see him on screen one last time, I decided to give it a go and just... he's grinning the entire time he reads that letter. You don't see anything of him on screen besides that wicked, snarky grin and by the gods it. was. perfect. I had never been more happy to be wrong in my life. It's not often a game franchise writes a character and keeps them true to themselves as much as they did with Archer in this case but good gods I am delighted they did.}

For canon muses: what's the worst take, headcanon or even canon moment you saw regarding your muse?

Full obligatory disclaimer: I don't have anything against people who ship protag!serena/rival!calem. It's not my cup of tea and what I'm talking about is just one of the popular takes on the ship

The ice coldest take I've seen on protag!Serena that seems to be common in fanon (and sadly seeped its way into masters, albeit reversing the roles) is that Serena's Whole Entire Journey is focused around Calem. That she wants him to ✨notice her✨ but he's just so oblivious. That she's a blushing mess every time he gets a metre away from her and all she just wants to do is hang out with him but he won't give her the time of day ...and it's usually all to build up to a point where poor Serena has an emotional breakdown over one line from the game-- where Calem says he respects the protag as a friend (shock, horror, gasping, curled up in my seat, i'm never recovering from this betrayal). And again, to a lesser extent, when he calls her a friend at Victory Road, but this time Serena is So Angry he keeps expressing platonic affection and not romantic

Which... listen, in this game I have problem with for several reasons. Rival!Calem is not a good friend to the protag throughout the story. By the time he drops this line, he had just literally abandoned Serena in the depths of the Team Flare lab (yes, that's canon), completely outnumbered, because "she can handle it". Before that, he pressures the player into fighting over the mega ring, to the point where the others in the Kalos gang are like "hey this is a bit far what the Fuck". Before that, and even after, he's... not exactly kind to the player either. Not antagonistic, but not kind. He doesn't like that they, a random stranger who got shoehorned in on being given a starter because the professor felt bad for their situation, are stronger than him.

WHICH LIKE... once again, I have no problem with these actions. It's good shit, despite XY's writing. His whole arc in XY is coming to terms with the fact that he can't always be the best, even at something he feels entitled to excel in because of his parents' legacies... He has to learn to become okay with falling short, and his interactions with the protag are the way that arc is developed.

The issue comes when you take all of that, erase Calem's arc so he can be a flavourless love interest, and reduce Serena from a heroine who saves the world to one who exists solely to cry over a boy. Do you see how the vision is ice cold. When he calls Serena a friend for the first time instead of neighbour, that's the good shit. It's a sign of his development and moving past his own frustrations with what the protag represents. And it's sad that that moment gets taken as friendzoning, and that interpretation is then what Serena gets built around

...then pokemas added Calem and Serena... and it's that dynamic, except he got given this fanon!Serena's personality, and she got given his obliviousness. But we should've known after giving Xerneas to Sycamore that for XY, dena is just trying to appeal to the most popular ships from those games }

Twilight Wings doesn't seem to have a continuation so I wouldn't count on that. Considering both Pokemas and Pokeani are bringing over Paldean cast, it's hard to say which one will be first. I think Pokemas still has Arven to cover (who is mentioned by name so it could be foreshadowing) while focusing a bit on Volo (my bet is he'll be in Anni) while Pokeani seems to not focus that much on game characters and they barely entered whichever Paldean Academy (I don't watch it but osmosis is plentiful, I gotta make an attempt and take a look though bc I heard Zygarde is here...) so that's also quite a distance away.

I had once a terrifying thought of someone getting the idea of Kieran being voiced by Ikue Ohtani because I would probably just die on the spot, I'd just get a stroke and collapse on point and die but I don't think they would do it... At least for sake of my continuous existence.

I don't know voice actors, but I would really love for Kieran VA to have a gentle voice, more on meek side but capable of immediately gaining edge and maybe even getting throaty in most intense moments... It's how I imagine that. I really wanna hear his wayaja one day...

In terms of Drayton... As far as I know he has the most deranged accent in Japanese??? I am not 100% sure but he seems to slur his speech plenty, like sometimes he doesn't bother pronouncing things even? That or maybe it's a visual cue he's pronouncing things in an accent (it feels like a typical foreigner speech when you get an American in an anime, yanno??) and gives zero shit to hide it. At least I think?? But i saw some native speakers laugh bc srsly wtf are his speech patterns. His pronoun is oira for fucks sake........ Shoutout to someone pointing out he sometimes pronounces na as nya, 10/10. He also loses that entirely when he gets serious, so that's another interesting thing... I am dying to hear recreated, fr. On a side note I'm really sad it seems to not be carried over to English translation. Maybe someone would have really accented speech in English...

Dang, I didn't even know people were doing that. I probably had the highest amount of frustrations and grievances regarding the Green / not / Leaf debate. All of that is entirely tied into my childhood coping mechanism to promised self-indulgence fic that grew up with me. And the uncanny valley of their similar design had me tearing my hair out, metaphorically. I've opt to settle this the way Pokemon generally tends to run "same character, different people" in the way they make cross-canon counterparts. But the issue arises in how while yes, LGPE is an entirely different timeline, making that idea viable; unlike any of the protagonist duos, excluding Kris, Leaf NEVER exists as an NPC if you choose the other avatar. And that's just what player characters are: avatars. Pokemas breaks away from that and gives them starter mons and personalities that I personally feel aren't the "end all" for their canon. As there's so many universes and alt timelines and simply the fact the developers do want players to interpret it however we like or simply don't because it would break our brains. [According to some interview: but really it's the sacred creed of video games anyways.] It goes against a lot to establish a canon for characters intentionally kept and made to be vague: hence, the constant Pidgey in the face when animating game-verse and lack of speaking lines. Look at Pokemas!May and the one from Evolutions. Or the way some treat Ethan and Gold differently when it comes to personality. Or even the black-haired!Red from LGPE based on Gen 1 and the Gen 3 brown-haired spikey flare Red we see continue into Alola. They are the same character despite it all. Just different in the hands of who made them, and those people are not the final authority. Pokemon has no canon to me. It's like Marvel and it's many retellings of Superhero stories. So many agencies get their hands on this story, it's more of a genre now. Did you know there's a manga out there for ORAS where Brendan is split into two twin brothers for Omega and Alpha? This stuff just happens. For all intents and purposes, Green is the third Pallet trainer. Her and Leaf fulfill the same role in the trio. She will never exist as a fourth girl beside them. Her design is to me, what it would have been had she been included in Gen 1, as Red and Blue's designs also reflect Gen 1 not Gen 3. Her different personality is because she is an NPC playing as a rival character for the first time ever in a canon game-verse appearance (even if an AU timeline) (also why we were blessed to have speaking lines for her in Evolution) while Pokemas does whatever the heck it wants with their own personality canonizations. For main characters in Pokemas are always going to get on someone's nerves because they have to commit to certain playthrough routes for the characters, the hero or the friend, etc, and surface level personalities while NPCs like Gym Leaders or supporting cast feel more accurate; because there's an actual canon to pull from. For what it may count for though, there is official merch out there showing Leaf with Squirtle, Gengar, and Clefable. Sound familiar eh? I suppose the best compromise at this point is to stick with our own preferences and not invalidate others. This goes fully for the anti-Green = Leaf crowd because their stance makes up the majority of Leaf posts and arguments. Generally YouTube LMAO I started staying away from there. Meanwhile, ig Pokemon will continue to mix and match what they want treating their characters like jpeg dolls and driving us up the wall with uncanny valley. See: Akari and Dawn, Lucas and Rei. Implications galore everywhere, multiverse is real and apparently it can hurt us haha. Sorry for the info dump.

Yeah Ikr! I guess it comes to show that people will make up anything to defend their stance on an argument. This is exactly why I have a problem with the idea of making them another Kris and Lyra 2.0 situation, it just feels way too forced because of their strong design similarities and how they’re obviously derived from another. At least Lyra was made from scratch as wasn’t derived from Kris and it shows, as the only significant design similarity they have is the gravity defying ponytails. Green and Leaf on the other hand? They just look like the same person wearing somewhat different outfits! They have the same hair color and hair style, the exact same shirt/collar pattern, and even the same yellow bag! And tbh, I think they are strong together than they are separate, as if they’re split into two different entities, then that means that Green never got the chance to be a playable character, and likewise Leaf never got the chance to appear as an NPC in any of the mainline games, and that is just unfair to me. 

And yes I definitely agree with you on the idea that Green and Leaf are AU versions of the same character, I mean it should be very obvious. Also yeah, even if pokemas exists people are still allowed to have their own interpretations of the characters, even my headcanons for them aren’t one to one with how they portray the protags!

And that’s not even mentioning pokespe, with all of its wild interpretations of the protag’s personalities that totally seem to come out of left field! They literally made Lucas (Diamond) a pokemon trainer version of Chowder for example! And oh wow, I had no idea that there was manga out there that made the two versions of Brendan twin brothers, kinda reminds me of that one manga that makes Classic! Red and Remake! Red two different people as well…  Also tbh I never even felt like LGPE! Green was all that different personality wise from PMEX! Leaf in the first place, as they both have that cheerful and feisty pokemon enthusiast/fanatic characterization going on. The only real difference is that Green is a bit more competitive and mischievous, whereas Leaf is more wholesome. But again, that probably comes from the fact that she plays the role of the rival in LGPE, as you said. It really does come to show that the TPC will always experiment with different personalities for all the different variants of their protag characters. Also EXACTLY, Leaf is literally associated with half of Green’s team in official merchandise man! That’s another reason why I can’t bring myself into thinking they’re somehow completely different…

tate and liza! i remember them being an absurdly hard obstacle to my newbie ass the first time i played through ruby, and even back then i had already started adoring double battles as a thing. so seeing gym leaders go "here that's our thing now" made me go oooh.

also pokemon masters gives them some cute characterization! liza hanging out with guzma is a particular favourite character interaction of mine.

i also really, really love lenora. having a gym inside a museum/library is like, #goals. it's totally my aesthetic.

(also i don't know if we're allowed to count trial captains, but if we are, i'd also add nanu here. grumpy old man with five million cats and a sad cop backstory. also apparently a bad cop in the anime but that plotline went nowhere lmfao)

11. favourite trial (sun & moon)

sophocles' trial in the original sumo games! not because of its format (quizzes are always boring) but how it's presented as a comedy of errors from this kid trying to do his best in the role that he's given. and of course, that final question that straight up breaks the fourth wall. like. please. i appreciate that humor. i was kinda sad that his trial got revamped in the ultra remakes, it lost a lot of its life and felt more like a standard gym challenge.

13. favourite antagonist team

i want to take team skull home and feed them and give them hugs. they're such dorks. they're just punks who lost their place in the world and trying to carve out their own niche, and that niche is TROUBLE. the little bits of when you can actually see them hurting just kinda kicks me in the nads.

15. favourite shiny pokemon

i mean it's my favourite pokemon in general, but flygon. it's just so bright, and neon-y! flygon is my flagship pokemon in general so the fact that its shiny is cute makes me very happy.

flygon, dhelmise, sigilyph! flygon has always been my favourite since hoenn, it's my big dragonfly baby. sigilyph has always struck me as a very unusal flying pokemon and i adore how it's modeled after the nazca lines. and dhelmise is just so charming to me in how the actual pokemon is the faceless possessed lump of seaweed and everything else is just it deciding it wants to yeet ship parts at things. love it. you do you, king.

the b/w series! i just really love the spritework, the life the region was given, the stories it had, the characters it built...10/10 would absolutely play again even though it does not need a remake but i will accept a port.

21. favourite legendary/mythical pokemon

oh this is hard. early baby me really loved articuno and suicine (it's where i got my handle from! i went by Northwind Gale on the serebii forums because of suicune being the north wind pokemon or something like that, and that just hung on until now im just the Gale y'all know today lmao). but a lot of legendaries are pretty damn cool now that ive grown! zekrom’s a big fave of mine too. big and black and blue electricty glowin’, the way that it appears to a traner filled with ideals, the entire lore behind it is just [chef’s kiss]. 

i kinda like zygarde as a concept, though. a legendary that isn't a singular entity, but rather made up of multiple hiveminded parts that have been scattered across the world to help observe its state of balance. it feels more like a force of nature than a physical being. a representation of what it embodies. it's cool. i appreciate that the anime played with that concept. (almost made up for the absolutely DISAPPOINTING bullshit they pulled with xerneas and yveltal tbh)

25. favourite design of a pokemon

again, dhelmise. it's just so funny. here's a floating steel anchor. it has a face. no it's not steel type. no it's not water type. it's a grass/ghost because the actual pokemon is the seaweed on its face fuck you. sumo really does bring a lot of my favourite "faceless entity has a mockup of a face or doesn't even bother trying" designs like mimikyu, xurkitree, stakataka, etc. i love it. give me more faceless pokemon gamefreak. i want them all.

27. overall favourite generation of pokemon

gen 5! it's not only the era of my favourite mainline games, it's also when we had a lot of fun ds sidegames (well, gen 5 and gen 4) like the pmd and ranger series. it just really felt like the end of an era, looking back, when they were just really pushing what spritework could bring, what the touch screen could do with gameplay. i love it. the fun pokemon designs are just a cherry on the cake.

29. favourite normal type

i've always had a soft spot for the zigzagoon line. they're small and fluffy and good. and thanks to middlest bro i appreciate furret as well. good long bois.

31. favourite fire type

i love...centiskorch. long fire bug. big boy. gets even bigger when gigantamax. all the cute fanart we get of kabu with the pre-evo makes me love it more.

33. favourite fighting type

the only reason i didn't put blaziken up in 31 was so i could put it down here instead. torchic (and hoenn in general) was the generation where my brothers and i started our starter picking tradition based on our faves (i would pick fire types, littlest bro picked grass types and middlest bro picked water). i love this little chicken, love that it grows up to be big kicky chicken. good for them.

35. favourite water type

pyukumuku! it is small, and round, and if it dislikes you it will disgorge its internal organs into the shape of a fist and punch your lights out, and that’s wonderful. 

lapras has also been a long time favourite mainstay of mine as well, ever since we first got one from rescuing silph co back in gen 1! so gentle, so graceful. a wonderful being.

37. favourite flying type

corviknight! it is big, and terrifying, and oh so very helpful. i love the corviknight taxi as a thing, love that people just put themselves into stagecoach shaped birdcages and be carried around. it’s wonderful. corviknights are wonderful. i love my big feathery beast of a bird.

39. favourite grass type

41. favourite poison type

gengar! because i love my ghosts, and i can only put so many ghosts into the favourite ghosts ask. but also one of my favourite epsides as a kid was the pokemon tower episode and watching these goofy little ghosts just wanna play with a kid, so they kill him by accident. and then they get to do ghost things. listen. ghosts are good. gengar is a big ghost friend. he deserves hugs. i bet he gives wonderful hugs. hug the giant poison cloud. do it. 

43. favourite electric type

vikavolt! a giant six foot railgun beetle is a good and great friend! treasure it. luxray is also a good favourite of mine, mostly because of the x-ray eyes and yusei hair. 

45. favourite ground type

mudsdale! it’s literally a giant clydesdale horse. what’s not to love. i also really love krookodlie. big old sandigator with sunglasses. absolutely dope. big ground boyes.

47. favourite rock type

so i’ve already mentioned stakataka. i love the idea of horrible little hivemind creatures becoming one big thing. it’s a bunch of blocks! with eyes! and each one is alive! and they’re all living and working together to become this terrifying eldritch behemoth of a wall! i love them! i also love the fossil mons cradily and armaldo and archeops. they’re such fun designs. even if i don’t ever usually use fossil mons in my playthrough because i usually have a full dedicated team by the time i unlock one, i love them very much.

49. favourite ice type

s...nom. i love them. thy are small, and round, and sound like jingle bells. this is partially middlest bro’s fault. he’s obsesed with them and that enthusiasm infected me. but really, snom is just so cute. . . .

i also really love crygonal! “gale it’s just an angry snowflake” yes but it’s my angry snowflake. i’m weak for geometric designs. leave me alone.

51. favourite bug type

galvantula is the greatest bug type of all time and if you don’t agree you can eat my bug lovin’ ass because oh my god. my baby. my baby tarantula. “tarantulas aren’t bugs gale” well pokemon gave it six legs so it’s technically not a spider RIGHT? anyways i loved my galvantula so much that when zekrom insisted on taking a spot on my team to fight N i said “no, fuck off, the galvantula stays” and i sent zekrom to the box. and i fought n on my own with no legendary. zekrom was weaker than my spider anyway it needs to git gud

absol! because i fell in love with it the moment i first ran into it in ruby and boy howdy did i spend many, many hours hunting one down after failing to catch the first one i found. the fact that it’s a misunderstood baby that just wants to warn people and gets blamed for shit instead makes me want to give it a hug. 

59. favourite psychic type

sigilyph! like i mentioned before, i love its strange design, i love its cry, love its spritework, what else can i say.

61. favourite steel type

metagross! another hoenn mon that i fell in love with at first sight when steven caved my underlevleled ass in the first time i tried challenging the elite 4. it just looked so badass. and then that one trainer in the deoxys movie who looked like me and carried a laptop around just casually sends one out and i’m like !!!! it is a Sign. it is meant to be for me. there’s this fanart i love of some girl goign throu traffic while just casually lounging on her metagross on some kind of kotatsu or something, and man. life goals. i too want to have a metagross to ride on as i casually trawl the interwebs.

63. favourite fairy type

gardevior is, yet again, another hoenn mon that i fell in love with first sight when seeing another trainer use it for the first time. i straight up restarted ruby the first time i played after beating the champion, just so i could catch and use a ralts early game, so you know it was gonna be a fav for life. and it’s just. it’s never let me down. good defenses, terrifying special attack. and then it gained the fairy typing in gen 6 and became even more terrifying. 

65. favourite pokemon movie

this is a bit of a hard call, but i’m going to say the keldeo movie! it tends to be pretty overlooked, as do many of the b/w movies, but it’s a fun little movie that focuses largely on keldeo’s growth as ash and co help try to protect it from the results of its own bad decisions. frankly, the bw movies in general did a really good job at making the focus legendaries their own characters with their own stories (admittedly the victini movie only made a start at it, but still) which really helped sell them as pokemon i would want to try and get a special event for? 

as an aside, this is also why the newtwo movie is another one of my favourites. she’s written as a fairly compelling character in her own right without needing to lean on og mewtwo as a base, so like...the movie in general doesn’t deserve the hate it gets (if it still gets hate, i remember people backlashing pretty hard against the mewtwo shilling back then). i remember making a writeup about the differences between the two mewtwos ages ago, and i had an ENTIRE writeup on plurk after i actually watched the movie that i’m wiling to share if anyone wants to hear, but lmao this ask is getting so long already so.

67. favourite animated adaptation

i know people don’t like best wishes because of all the lost potential but listen. i like the bw anime and it’s still a favourite of mine to this day. it has lots of little gems in character interaction and animation that xy and sumo take and continue on with, so i genuinely think people don’t give it enough credit. yes, it has its failings, but so does every other season of pokemon.

73. favourite pokemon merchandise

so when i was a wee 90′s kid, and the local Lotte(tm) asian market still had an electronics section, there was this little pikachu alarm clock that i pestered my mom into buying for me. when it rang it would say “Good morning!” and then play the chorus bars of a song i didn’t recognize at the time, but would later come to know as Mezase Pokemon Master. i loved that clock. i loved it to bits. i would use it as a timer for fucking eveyrthing. i would set the alarm off on purpose so i could hum along to the song.  even when the battery case started falling out and wouldn’t stay the fuck in. i ended up passing the clock down to middlest bro, and i think he might still have it around. i don’t know if the clock still works though. god i need to see if he still has it. i miss that clock. 

75. a pokemon you feel is overrated

if i see another fucking sylveon merchandise i will strangle that fucking fairy fox with its own ribbons. i hate it. i fuckingng hate sylveon and its unnatural ribbonass face. why ribbons. surely you could make a fairy eeveelution look more natural than fuckin pastel flesh tentacle ribbons

5) silver

he is so silly his favorite video game is probably unironicly shadow the hedgehog. i think it's sad he has never interacted with red once not even in pokemas which is so weird to me. milesverse silver and red (also leaf/green but she's from an alternate universe so she doesn't count) are brothers (same dad) so uh yeah. more milesverse lore silver basically tried impersonating red during the main story ethan like immediately figures out he's full of shit not only because he looks nothing like him but also silver dropped his trainer id so lmao. the team rocket grunts he fights don't realize though. so uh yeah the meow meow

4) blue

kanto trio sweep. i love blue a lot but like specifically the made up version of him in my head and also anything post gen 1. gen 1 blue by himself isn't like incredible or anything though he is easily the best character in gen 1 by virtue of being the only character with more than four lines. though milesverse gen 1 era blue is my little meow meow i have given him every mental illness

walter my little meow meow he was born in a wet cardboard box all alone i will protect him with my life he is my little guy. here's some milesverse lore he's like basically the main character in the gen 3 adaptation though brendan is like thoroughly convinced he is. wally, brendan, and may end up calling themselves team sky when they start going against magma and aqua. wally kinda just blurts it out during the part at the waterfall place and the gang rolls with it. also wally summons rayquaza like how the player does in emerald so uh yeah wally swag moments. he also becomes champion at the end

3) undertale

undertale sweep i love undertale so much. when i was a kid i though aus were so cool i made an au where all the characters were pokemon. i love that game. i actually like deltarune more but it's not done yet so undertale takes its place for now

2) persona 3

it's an incredibly wonderful game about living your life to the fullest even though death is inevitable with characters i adore. it is also a game created by a guy who said that he has never had a friendship with a woman and it shows. never play a persona game worst mistake in my life 0/10 don't recommend. it is also one of my favorite games of all time. special mention to the new content added in persona 5 royal actual peak fiction it is so good and on its own could be my favorite game of all time. too bad it's still persona 5. persona 4 is just bad for the love of god never play persona 4
