Jayvik pt 2 <3

Because I night of sleep gave me a few new ideas. (And because I just love writing about them) This is basically the part 2 of the fic I wrote yesterday<3

For those who haven't seen part 1:

Context: This is basically imagining if Jayce and Viktor got in a relationship at some point during the time skip between episode 3 and 4.

I'm pretty sure Viktor never had a lot of affection in his life, while on the other hand Jayce seems like an absolute teddy bear, especially if he's in a relationship.

So this is a little collection of moments I imagined of Jayce being sweet/worried, with a confused/flustered Viktor in response of it, because he's not used to it. (Honestly he probably would never get used to it, but at some point he'd most likely have less reaction, so I imagine this being more at the start of their relation)

Notes

Jayce isn't the best of writers, but he'll always leave a note to his Viktor. Might just be a small "Love you, V" or "Miss you, see you soon", coming along with a bouquet of flowers or a lunch he decided to give Viktor, knowing he probably would forget to eat if he wasn't given said lunch straight in his face.

So Jayce took a break from research to go take his lunch, something he almost forget to do himself at times. He made two sandwiches, with the intention to eat them both, but he thought back about how Viktor said that he probably wouldn't eat when Jayce asked him to accompany him.

So he took the second sandwich and place it in a plate, then took the nearest napkin and took out a pen he always keep in his pocket while working in the lab and simply wrote: "Don't forget to eat, V. Love you". He looked at it and nodded to himself, placing the napkin next to the sandwich on the plate.

Jayce went back to the lab and placed the plate next to Viktor, placing a hand on his shoulder at the same time. Viktor looked over at Jayce then down to the plate, smiling a little, especially as he saw the text written on the napkin. He just placed his hand over his lover's and accepted the meal.

Nicknames

Viktor was his name and nobody ever called him any other way (at the exception of Heimerdinger calling "my boy" but that he did it with any boy of the academy) not Vik, not V and certainly not "darling" or "love", that is, until he met Jayce. Usually it was just "Vik" or "V", but today was different.

Jayce was in another clingy phase, where he was feeling very affectionate and he always wanted to keep his hands on Viktor one way or another, but he knew his lover wasn't that much of a fan of always being glued together, so he kept himself. But if he wouldn't be affectionate physically, then he'd be affectionate in other ways. He'd speak more softly and let the few touches and kisses be even more tender than usual. He'd encourage Viktor even more (as if he wasn't doing it enough already), he'd help him more for mundane tasks and also... Maybe give him a few affective nicknames.

It came out naturally, honestly, just asking something to Viktor and responding by "thanks, love". It surprised Viktor, but he didn't spoke, only looked at Jayce with a raised eyebrow before shrugging and going back to whatever he was doing.

The second time came just as naturally too, but not less surprising to Viktor, so he said:

Viktor - "You're being awfully affectionate lately, Jayce"

Jayce - "Does it bother?"

Viktor - "No, just surprising"

Jayce smiled and answered - "Then maybe I should do it more often"

Viktor got a little surprised but after a second he smiled and answered:

Viktor - "Maybe you should"

Comforting words

Viktor has always been used to just suck it up when he had a problem. He'd close in on himself and mentally beat himself up if he thought something was wrong, but always in silence, in the dead of the night or in an isolated place.

But Jayce wasn't all that stupid either, he knew how much Viktor was hard on himself and he always wanted to try and cheer him up. He tried always being positive and searching for ideas to show Viktor how much he mattered.

So one day after work, he decided he'd stay with Viktor in the lab instead of going back home immediately. He took a chair and sat down next to him, gently placing his hand on Viktor's. The other man looked at him and saw his eyes looking at him with a mixture of sadness and worry. He expected to get another small lecture about how he should eat and sleep more, take better care of himself, but instead Jayce spoke softly and said:

Jayce - "V... You know how much I admire you, right?"

Viktor, a bit surprised - "Where is this coming from, Jayce?"

Jayce sighed and placed his other hand on his lover's back.

Jayce - "I just... I feel like I haven't told you enough. You work so hard on hextech and you create miracles. You made my life so much more beautiful... I- I know that sometimes I annoy you with how much I worry, and I know sometimes I worry too much, but it's only because I worry so much for you."

Jayce looked down to their hands, that we're holding each other's and sighed once again taking his hand off Viktor's and layed his head on his lover's shoulder. At that Viktor looked down for a second before lifting his arm and gently caressing Jayce's shoulder.

Viktor - "You know Jayce, sometimes I wonder if you're not exaggerating to make me feel better"

Jayce - "No need, trust me."

He stood up a bit in his chair, wrapping his arms around Viktor, who embraced him back. He caressed his back and kissed him softly before pulling away, still keeping his hands on Viktor's shoulders and saying:

Jayce - "You always make me feel stronger, bolder, like I could conquer the world if I wanted to... And I honestly don't even truly know how to thank you for all of this... So let me just tell you how much I care for you, would you?"

Viktor smiled once again and rested his head on Jayce's shoulder at his turn.

Viktor - "I think I can do that"

"he kisses Katara at the invasion" Yes, and she kisses back, and cuddles with him at the end of the episode. Funny how they never mention that.

"When she didn't wanna talk about that kiss, he firebends at her" He firebends at her because Katara was SUPER out of character in that comic, DEMANDING him to firebend even when he was upset, which he knows he shouldn't do, and when he literally has to create a shell to keep HER away because SHE won't leave him alone despite him asking her for space several times, he finally firebends just so SHE will stop harrassing HIM.

"Aang considers Katara his girl" Really? He thinks of the girl that flirted with several times and has kissed twice already as a potential girlfriend? HOW DARE!

"Becomes furios when Actress!Katara doesn't like Actor!Aang romantically" *casually ignores Katara being jealous of all the attention Aang is getting from girls in Warriors of Kyoshi and again in The Headband, and snapping at Aang when he says he doesn't want to kiss her*

"He kisses her again, this time explicitly against her wishes" And the show punishes him for it by allowing her to snap at him, and then he keeps his distance until SHE wants to spend time together again, and SHE is the one to bring the romance talk back up by kissing him.

"Throughout the show, people reassure him that she will come around, continuously reinforcing the idea that Katara is “his” and he just has to be patient" No, they tell him to tell her how he feels and that, IF they are right for each other, things will work themselves out in the end. He's also constantly told that his fate as the Avatar might prevent that romance from ever happening, even if Katara has feelings for him too - this is literally what the Ember Island conflict is all about.

"We never hear from Katara how she feels" Again, ignores HER being angry at him for not wanting to kiss her, being jealous of other girls when they pay attention to Aang, explicitly saying "I never said I think of you as a little brother, that was an actress that doesn't know anything about me", innitiating both their first and last kiss, kissing back on the eclipse episode, etc.

"The friendship is very gendered' *blatantly lies about Aang not supporting Katara just as much as she supports him and about her being the Cinderella of the group when there are several episodes showing us the Gaang canonically splits chores*

Forgive me if this is a stupid question, but I absolutely love the recs you've given (you've introduced me to tomione, and I love it!) and I was wondering if it's possible to give you some recs in return? There are some books and fics that definitely have dramione / got vibes, and I was wondering if I could share them with you!

So glad you've enjoyed them! Feel free to rec me anything you want. I've read most of the classic recs in terms of fic and adjacent content (Cruel Prince et al), but I'll try anything that's well-written. My tastes run towards weird and/or audaciously creative stuff, and I can forgive a lot of weaknesses in plot on the grounds of (1) ambition or (2) character work. My turnoffs are instalove, protagonists who can't fail, and most Y/A (I'm not a hater, I swear, I just need characters who can say "fuck" when their leg gets chopped off.)

I'm also a fan of weird and fucked-up dynamics.(Wuthering Heights was my favorite book for a while, and as a teenager I wrote an AU in which the book ends on a long sex scene where Heathcliff fucks Cathy's ghost and then immediately gets murdered by Catherine 2.) Obviously, I am very normal.

a+ addition and a+ photo set edit. they are so respectful of one another. even when they're fighting with each other, they're respectful. the first things we hear either of them say about the other is positive. scully saying he was the best behavior profiler in the vcu, and mulder telling her he read and liked her thesis. (you could argue that he was being slapstick and dismissive, but you'd be wrong, bc years later that mother fucker quotes her thesis off the cuff at her to prove a point, i fully believe that the porn folder on his computer is just a pdf of "einstein's twin paradox: a new interpretation")

and you're so right about them both defying the other's expectations. this episode shows how mulder is totally willing to accept it with grace, and even admiration, when she proves him wrong, like how he tells her, "you were right," when they catch tooms in the parking garage after he argued he wouldn't come back there, or later when she's berating him for being so Extra™️ with the other agents, he's like, "maybe i thought you caught the right guy [and wanted to be thorough in my investigation as a result]"

and scully obviously defies his just by standing by him. i think it's also probably extremely meaningful to him that at NO point does she ever join in on the "playful" bullying of him. not just in this episode, but ever. it's like you said. SHE can tell him he's fucking insane, but the second someone else does she is ready to throw down. and mulder fully knows the difference between scully's, "i respect your intelligence and think very highly of you, but the words that came out of your mouth go so far beyond my scientific worldview that i have no choice but to point out that you are fucking bonkers," vs everyone else's "ha ha, spooky mulder and his silly aliens and his career he ran into the ground"

idk man. i think that in addition to just mutually recognizing the intelligence the other possesses, and having a shared need for truth and justice, they also are exactly what the other needs in terms of their insecurities

mulder wins scully's heart by treating her as an equal from day one. even when he was suspicious of her, he never once insinuated she was lesser due to her gender, and in fact just immediately assumed she would understand complex topics. like in his slideshow where he has that chemical compound? he put that in there as a "gotcha!", except in order for it to be a "gotcha!" he had to have just deduced that she would be smart enough to read and understand that there was something wrong with it. he didn't trust her, but he never once doubted her intelligence, and as soon as he realized she was on his team he instantly started to check in with her and take the time to consider everything she had to say, even when they were in disagreement, and he just like. never stopped doing that. he's still doing that to this day

and scully won mulder's heart in a very similar way, like you said. she, too, has never doubted mulder's intelligence the way everyone else does. the reason she gets so "🙄😒🤬" at him when he says ridiculous things is bc she knows for a fact that he's brilliant. and he adores the fact that she actually challenges him in a way that matters. how many times has she said the words "for the sake of argument, let's assume xyz"? no matter how impossible she thinks his theory is, she is always willing to at least play in the sandbox with him (often in order to point out his flaws in logic, but hey, she's still playing). he literally tells her, verbatim, that her doing so SAVED him. she is a deeply principled person, with a firm belief in science, but she is willing to entertain his ideas, giving him someone to intellectually challenge him and make him be better, without ever making him feel inferior. (and! and!! the trust she puts in him? i'm thinking specifically of "folie á deux," where she shows him that, when it comes down to it, she will put her trust in him above her ingrained principles as a scientist. that? that has to mean the world to mulder, who values truth and trust more than anything else)

i have completely lost the plot here. i think this post used to be about "squeeze"? who knows. my adhd meds wore off hours ago, bro, i don't even know if i have a point besides that they are equal parts complementary to and foils for one another, and it makes for the most intense, enduring love story ever to be on network television, or anywhere else for that matter. they invented soulmates

today we are sitting in our office at 6 in the morning thinking about...

that scene in "squeeze" that everyone knows by heart, where mulder asks scully, "do you think i'm spooky?" and it's very cute and weirdly sexually charged like all of their interactions are, but also that scene is really important to their character development actually??

this is episode three, and with the understanding that these two are unhinged and kind of speedrun the whole "i would die for you, you're everything to me, you jump i jump, etc" thing, ostensibly they're still getting to know one another, and, more importantly, mulder's still trying to gauge if scully is hashtag legit. like, his gut tells him that, yes, for some reason the fates aligned and made it so the shadow government fucked up real bad and actually sent him an ally instead of an enemy (and also she's not hard on the eyes either, just sayin'), and also she held a security operative at gunpoint for him just one episode earlier, so i think by this point he does genuinely trust that she doesn't have a secret agenda

what he is LESS certain of, however, is whether or not she is going to want to stick around once she fully understands just what a fucking bummer it is to be fox fucking mulder, resident hoover building loser. like she is this literal genius agent and medical doctor, who's professional and hot and kind, and she could easily have an extremely promising career ahead of her, and he doesn't think she understands just how detrimental it is for her to go all in with him. and this case, with these by-the-book buddies of hers, is the first time they are really facing that issue head on

going back to the aforementioned scene, mulder is testing her. through that whole bit, he's testing her. ("why didn't they ask me about the case?" "bc they're my friends and they're more comfortable with me" "why would i make them uncomfortable?" "bc of your reputation" "rEpUtAtIoN?? who has a reputation???") like he is trying SO hard to get her to stop talking around the issue and just say "they think you're a fucking freak, mulder," which ofc she won't, which is why, when she gives him the perfect set up with, "they think your theories are..." he IMMEDIATELY swoops in and asks, "spooky?"

and then he looks her in the eye and asks, "do you think i'm spooky?"

and he says it in his joking tone, but i fully believe that there is a genuineness there. he already knows before talking to colton and his cronies how the conversation is going to go, and he doesn't care, bc he doesn't care about their opinions, but he DOES care about her opinion, and i think that scares him. i think it's been a very, very long time since he last gave a shit about what someone thought of him, and he's extremely uncomfortable. i think that's why he goes so hard just seconds later with the straight faced "aliens are actually grey" thing with colton. he doesn't do it to taunt colton, or for his own amusement, but bc he wants to show scully flat out, "this is what they think of me, and this is how i am going to act in response. can you handle it? can you handle being a social pariah? or do you think i'm spooky?"

the theme comes up repeatedly in this episode, actually. he outright admits to being territorial over her, but in the same breath gives her permission to work on the case with colton instead of him, bc he KNOWS what a shit meal she's been served by the fbi, pairing them up together, but then she's like, "hmmm, idk, i think you must know more than you're saying and i wanna know what it is," and he is so delighted, bc not only does it mean that she's really committed to finding the truth, not just closing the case as fast as possible, but it also means that she's choosing him over them, and that N E V E R happens

but later in the episode he also makes the remark about how in thirty years she'll be "head of the bureau," which is another peek into his mind grapes, showing us that he's still very stuck on this idea that working with colton & friends is going to make her suddenly come to the realization of "oh wait, what am i DOING with this loser??" he's afraid of that happening, and he's afraid about the fact that he's afraid of it in the first place, and bc this is mulder and scully we're talking about, and neither of them are physically capable of saying what they're feeling, he just keeps making jokes and quips and being a dick to colton (who deserves it, but still), bc the alternative is admitting to scully, "hey, i really like your company and would kind of really very much like it if you didn't leave me for the cool kids agents," and he's not going to do that. not just bc of the vulnerability aspect, but bc he would view it as selfish, bc he fully believes that being stuck with him is bad for her (lol i wonder if that will become a theme throughout the entire series ha ha)

but anyway, turns out his worries are unfounded, bc it turns out scully will take being mrs. spooky over climbing the career ladder any day

"do you think i'm spooky?"

"no, i think you're a fucking nerd, now shut up get me my own desk. if we push them together we can play battleship, and then later we can get to know each other carnally"

in episode 6 of season 1 kono's former surfing mentor gets shot and the team tries to get her to take the day off, but steve starts that campaign (and has final say, obviously - later danny says to kono "what are you doing here? boss told you to take the day off" and i had to rewind to make sure that danny DID actually call steve the boss), and it's like, uh, hum, buddy? steve, my friend? did you forget that literally the only reason you're standing there in hawaii with this special team telling kono to skip a case that's personal is that FIVE EPISODES PREVIOUSLY (that's like, a quarter of a season at best) you did the most extreme ever version of NOT skipping a personal case?? this guy (steve) really just tries to tell kono that she shouldn't be investigating the murder of the man who was "like a second father" to her, when he's recently made a major life change just so he could investigate the murder of hIS OWN FATHER. sir, you're leading a team with special permission from the governor to Make Everything Personal And Never Step Back. you've cultivated a culture in which people would investigate their OWN murder if they could and still not see any emotional or ethical problems with running after suspects while holding an object that can shoot people dead and a badge that says they can do that if they want. and now you're trying to tell kono she can't be doing that? talk about mixed messages, man.

Just watched the episode of Leverage where Nate chooses not to kill his notorious conman of a father and instead forces him to leave town and sail back to Galway and i gotta say.... you know all those "cozy murder mystery" series where some sleepy rural town is inexplicably besieged by murders? I always used to wonder, what the hell is going down in Badger-upon-Twyne that's causing so much damn crime, but now I know. This is presented in the show like some kind, honorable thing, like oh, yes, I'm sure ol' Jimmy "Felonies Georg" Ford will stop doing crime once he's back in Ireland - why on earth would you assume that!! You've just unleashed this hardened Bostonian gangster upon the innocent sheep and also people of County Galway! Like, don't get me wrong, Galwegians, I'm not trying to say you're pushovers or anything, but i once saw a news article about the police trying to 'clamp down on organized crime' in the city and it said they were on the hunt for a dangerous gang consisting of *checks notes*.... four people. Jimmy Ford is going to own Ballynahinch castle by the end of the week. He's going to start smuggling in cocaine on the little dolphin tour boats.
