i finally prepare the last touches before clicking start to begin my stream, sitting back into my chair as i watch the viewers increase as the minutes pass by and my chat begins to get active.

"hey chat! how are we all feeling today?" i say as i begin to set up my screen so all the viewers can see. i look over for a minute to see what everyone was talking about only to see my chat spamming that i was wearing "fresh love" which started to confuse me.

"guys, why are you bringing up my outfit?" i laugh awkwardly as i click at the mouse selecting the game folders. "my best friend got it for me so i don't know what you are all talking about."

"anyways, i've opened all my games so spam my chat with whatever you want to see me play!" i cough, trying to distract the viewers as they all begin to change the topic.

"for fucks sake, all i'm seeing in the chat are all the horror games." i sigh in annoyance. "do you all want me to have a heart attack?"

i hesitantly click to the most suggested when in the corner of my eye i see my chat spamming even crazier than before. i scan through the comments to see many people saying some guy called chris had joined.

"chat who is chris?" i ask curiously as i pause to look at my stream. "chris sturniolo?" i quickly got out your phone to search for his instagram when a verified user came up and turns out i was wearing his merch brand, fresh love.

"oh, damn. hes a big creator!" i gasp, looking through his account as i turn my phone to the stream. "well, hey chris if you're still here!"

i turn my attention back to the game as i engage properly while my heart raced with nerves until the sound effect of someone subscribing made me jump, along with a donation.

"holy shit, you scared the fuck out of me!" i scream, jolting backwards and nearly falling from my chair as i place my hand on my chest to feel my heart pounding. "thanks for the $100 and sub chris sturniolo."

i had been streaming for over two hours now, and this chris guy had been donating a couple hundred dollars numerous times just to talk to me directly and my chat was going absolutely crazy over him. i honestly didn't see the hype until i got the idea from someone in the chat to check out their youtube channel, and something about that sparked my interest.

"chat.... i have a surprise for you all!" i say excitedly. "ive seen many comments begging for me to react to the sturniolo's videos so... that's what i'll be doing for the next hour!"

a couple minutes before i searched up their channel, i received another donation from chris, but was that a surprise?

chrissturniolo donated $1,000!

"chris! holy shit dude!" i yell excitedly, nearly beginning to cry as i get up from my chair to get out of the camera frame. "i can't believe this... thank you so much!" i say while the tears of happiness slowly seeped from my eyes. i slowly sat back down as i wipe my eyes before looking at the chat, realising he had left a message underneath the previous donation and i read it out loud.

"thanks for the support, treat yourself princess- princess?!" my eyes widen as i lean closer to the screen, almost in denial. "damn chrissy, thanks!"

i click onto their channel as i select one of their most recent car videos, almost gasping for air once i saw what they actually look like.

"chat is it just me or is chris really attractive?" i question, slightly smirking predicting the reaction of everyone, knowing they would act feral. "oh, thanks for the $5 donation chris!"

i read out his comment as i pull up another tab to open instagram, showing off my secret account that not even my own supporters had as i continue to speak.

"this is the spam account, but i consider it my main since i don't actually use the other one. as you can tell, i definitely post myself in some... questionable clothing choices!"

immediately on screen, chris's notification popped up saying that he followed me, along with many others where he was liking my posts.

"well, the whole stream saw your notifications chrissy. anyways, back to reacting." i say, giggling to myself as i saw through my peripheral vision that the chat had began to speed up rapidly.

"well that was a fun time! i dont know why i havent watched them sooner, but ill be getting off now to rest. chris, ill talk to you later. bye everyone!" i finally say, giving a wink to the camera for chris as i end the stream, falling back into my chair as i let out a sigh.

well, that was a very unexpected surprise to my stream. my thoughts suddenly get interrupted when i notice chris had sent me a private message.

i have a similar question to the posting art online anon, how long did it take before you really started to see results posting online? ive been doing it for um about a year? or so and havent had a lot of traction! and it can be a little disheartening to have stuff you work hard on end up with 0-1 likes 😞😞😞 im just curious if there is more i can be doing or if im doing something wrong !

Honestly it works out differently for everyone! I have been posting my art online for 10 years next year, and I only really started getting decent attention on my stuff about 5 years ago, and it only actually really turned into huge traction on my IG about say, 3 or 4 years ago now?

Based on that experience alone I think the biggest thing to take away from this is that the hard part is just getting the ball rolling because once it’s going, it snowballs gradually on its own. I can tell you how I personally grew any of my accounts but I can’t guarantee that it’ll work for everyone!

1- Consistent posting, this is especially big if you’re starting out. You don’t have to share big finished pieces daily. Post a 2 minute doodle from your phone! A WIP of a painting you’re doing for school, do a zoomed in sneak peek of that real nice drawing you’re doing in your personal sketchbook. It doesn’t matter, just try and post a little snippet like once every 2-3 days. Never feel pressured to finish a drawing every single day, just share your art journey even if in fragments.

2- interacting with others!!! I’m going to be so honest with you, internet users are very nosy people. Very curious. If you frequently comment, interact with online users you want to be lumped with (in your case, artists), then people will see your account appearing alongside the people they’re following and start checking you out. Leave comments on your favorite artists’ post, ask questions on a post regarding your favorite fandom, etc! At one point in 2022, I got a huge influx of followers simply because I shared a headcanon regarding Princess Jellyfish, and the other commenters that saw it checked my profile and saw that at the time, I had Princess jellyfish fanart on my profile!

3- there’s a lot of people that tell you to follow art trends, while others say only to draw exactly what you want, and in my opinion, only do art trends if you can combine them with your interests and art. Don’t force a trend if you don’t really want to. In my personal experience, engaging in art trends only really works for me if I draw my favorite fandom in place of the meme, or a silly picture of my ocs. Don’t feel pressured to overperform in art trends, either. Just be yourself, do what you do best, and the boost of a trend will push you to people who will actually stick around because they like what you do!

And finally, something to keep in mind, is that LOTS of great artists go under the radar. A follower count does not determine your skill, your worth or your value. You can have beautiful art and very few people will notice for years. Just do what you love, and have fun.

My back nerves have been befuckened. About 12 hours ago now. I got home, had something to eat, and then conked out.

Notes on this experience:

During -

The saline they flushed my IV with tasted weird and metallic. Sort of like if ozone was stale. It was weird being able to taste things in my veins. I could also hear/feel each thing get injected.

Funky bendy needle. Mom explained it was actually a cath needle because they’re easier to work with. The nurse’s placement was awesome, I didn’t even feel it go in.

It’s hard to find a comfortable laying position on your back on a hospital bed. I ended up sitting with my knees up.

Several of the staff glanced at my tiny elephant stuffie with some form of bemusement. I stuck its feet between my fingers so that it wouldn’t fall out of my hand. No idea if this worked but I did still have it when I woke up. This could have just been one of the nurses putting it back in my hand at some stage.

Nasal cannula made it hard to breathe out. 0/10 did not like. Also made my nose itchy.

I was asked who I was and what I was there for a total of 5 times. It felt like a weird pop quiz. I remembered “bilateral ablation” and was proud of myself.

I somehow managed to only have a BP of 130/80 despite being more anxious than I’ve been in a while. I do not like not knowing what’s happening to my body, and I was largely nonverbal.

Doc said he wished he didn’t have to stab me when I told him I was ready to be stabbed. Mom called bullshit because she’s a nurse and she knows it’s fun. He found this hilarious

After -

The anesthesiologist was a really sweet dude. I woke up to him saying “it’s time to wake up, you did a great job!” I apparently got a good grade in being anesthsetized, normal to want and possible to achieve

I had a dream, but immediately upon waking up I forgot everything about the dream. It was replaced instantly with the entire time I was out feeling like a blink.

I lost short term memory in 5-10 second chunks after waking up for a little while. I remember waking up to the anesthesiologist, then forgot transferring to the rolling bed and being returned to the curtained bay I started out at. I remember choosing juice and peanut butter crackers, forgot the person who brought them walking over and back to get them and me opening both, had to double check id said things out loud to my mom. This is when I remember finding my stuffie still in my hand.

The aftermath felt like being high on weed without the munchies or the body high feeling. Everything was slowed down and it took me a while to process questions, my eyes were itchy, and I was kind of sleepy.

At this point I was expecting pain but didn’t have any, and asked if my back had been numbed. It had not. On account of me being sedated and all

I was allowed to walk out under my own power. The floor felt kind of uneven and I held my mom’s hand so that I wouldn’t float off. I was constructing sentences by then but mostly out of necessity than out of actually wanting to talk.

We ran errands on the way home, got coffee and donuts, picked up prescriptions. I was awake and aware, but struggled with speaking and mostly listened to mom talk.

Ate, played a little with Duck, finished my matcha, and conked the fuck out. Slept from like 2pm to 6pm. Laying down was mostly comfortable? My back felt slightly strained in a lot of positions until I found one where it didn’t.

Back now aches along a tendon that connects near my hip and I can feel it when I move, and otherwise just. Feels vaguely like I’ve had a needle in my back a couple times for obvious reasons. Sort of sore, maybe like a really deep bruise, a bit irritated, but otherwise fine. Less pain than I woke up with this morning. I fully expected it to be a gets worse before it gets better kinda deal.

Conclusion: 9/10 I could stand to have fewer memory blanks but the surprise almost no pain is nice. We shall see if it starts burning at some point

wait??? how did you (almost) end up in a mrbeast video?? :O

ohmygosh okay so

with my good old lifelong youtube special interest, i had a period where i was just FASCINATED by all the actual workings behind the various mrbeast channels (and the story of how he got there), particularly mrbeast gaming (which was basically just minecraft videos)

and- ok this might just turn into an infodump for a sec cause i find the operations of it rlly interesting sdfsdk. i had a wonderful rabbit hole week where i watched a ton of videos from the perspectives of ppl who were actually in those challenges, which led me to find out about the mrbeast gaming discord server...

A monstrous thing with 60,000 members and zero channels you can talk in (thank god). It took a while to even JOIN cause it was always at member limit.

The whole thing basically got nuked last year and reformed into some sort of fortnite thing that ive never quite looked at since, but the way it worked was members would fill out a google form with their discord info, and anytime they needed people for a video they'd use some kind of bot that randomly selected a bunch of those form submissions, and checked them against people whose discord accounts were currently online. those accounts would be given a role that let them into some extra discord channels that held the relevant details for whatever the event was.

I joined the server, filled out the thing, and months later, ACTUALLY GOT SELECTED

a couple hundred people, if i recall correctly, had been as well, and the mods announced they were going to hold interviews over a couple hour period later that week, looking for people to be in a future unspecified video.

the odds of me having even gotten to this were crazy so i was already hyped, but i kept my hopes low just to manage it all sbjdhf

The interviews were done in five voice chats, with enough room for one player and a mod. someone would join, get interviewed, then leave the call, then there was a split second opportunity to click on that call with just the right timing as a hundred other people tried to do the same.

somehow, i got in one! i was interviewed by a guy called brethoodie, who was the actual head of mrbeast gaming behind the scenes?? I think??? and like-it actually went super well. we were vibing and it was just a really nice conversation tbh. he had a question they asked like 'if you won 100k and had to spend it on something for urself (rather than donate it, pay off debt, all the other realistic but generic responses), what would you do?' and i thought abt it and realised that in this fantasy land, i'd go all out crazy on materials for some kind of massive art project or sculpture type creation, and he said that was one of the most interesting responses he'd had!!

after that i continued to watch the voice channels and i realised that at the rate they went, they really couldve only interviewed like. i dunno. 20-40 people max? so i was feeling PRETTY good about my chances. he said theyd get back to me in a week or two if i'm in, but I just never heard anything back.

which was like, fine? was disappointed ofc but like. Oh Well. it was an interesting time regardless

a couple months later a video came out, i figure this was the one they'd been working on so i have a look and...

ive been into writing for years before i got into fanfiction specifically so i guess just from reading fanfiction i guess, but if you want a longer story, i got more interested in writing from roleplaying on amino and got into fanfiction because the fandom i was in at the time got OBSESSED with this one popular work and i just HAD to check it out

2. How many fandoms have you written in?

officially, my ao3 account only has glee works rn but i do have a 911 fic im working on and i do want to venture into more fandoms, but i don’t really have the confidence to do so yet

3. How many years have you been writing fanfiction?

i’ve been trying since 2020 to be more of a fanfic writer but never actually got anything solid until 2023 so 1-4 years depending on how you see it

4. Do you read or write more fanfiction?

definitely read im a slowass writer and part of that is because im too busy reading fanfiction instead of writing

5. What is one way you've improved as a writer?

overall in the years i’ve been a writer, i feel like i’m better at portraying characters as well rounded and creating characters that aren’t just one stereotype. when it comes to my time as a fanfic writer, im better at writing actual scenes rather than just random narration

6. What's the weirdest topic you researched for a writing project?

the probability of survival when falling from certain heights. also ohio the glee writers were cruel for making their show based in fucking ohio of all places

7. What's your favorite type of comment to receive on your work?

i’m honestly not picky i love all types of comments, but if i really had to choose, it’d probably be any that point out a specific part or line or whatever in my writing. it makes me so happy when people have some detail stick with them

8. What's the most fringe trope/topic you write about?

i honestly haven’t done anything too intense in my writing i think the most out there i’ve gotten is just emotional infidelity and that’s just standard for seblaine. i do plan on killing blaine in one wip of mine, but it’s just an idea for now because i’ve got other shit to focus on

9. What is the hardest type of story for you to write?

longer stories are literally impossible for me. i absolutely SUCK at writing anything longer than a couple thousand words and even that is hard for me. smut is also hard but that’s because i haven’t bothered to write smut, so different vibes

10. What is the easiest type?

well if you see how many hurt no comfort fics i’ve published it’s obvious fluff is what i’m best at. but yeah short vignette angsty stories are super easy for me to write. it’s just 50% projection and 50% exaggeration and 100% gay, so no problem there

11. Where do you do your writing? What platform? When?

i often write at home, on my notes app, at any point of the day, and i post all my stuff on ao3. i will sometimes edit on my laptop on google docs, but i get lazy too and so my latest fics have been mostly raw and unedited.

12. What is something you've been too nervous/intimidated to write, but would love to write one day?

smut and literally any ship that isn’t seblaine and also longer works. i’d love to be one of those writers who comes out with these multi chapter masterpieces but i’m just not right now. i’ve had ideas for other ships too, but i never really flesh them out because they’re usually stuff that would span across thousands of words and i don’t have the time, energy, nor skill level to do that yet. and again, for smut, i just never bother, and while i think im never going to be the explicit sex scenes type of writer, i love the angst potential of it

13. What made you choose your username?

acedisgrace is a name i’m like 85% sure i saw a joke about from a stolen tumblr post on instagram and i was like hey im asexual and a disappointment haha what if i change my discord name to that and then eventually when i got an ao3 account, i just went with it because i saw it was available there too. as for calsvoid, they’re my initials and i spew whatever bullshit i want on tumblr and also i wish i didn’t have a body and instead was an amorphous blob of nothingness

Normally, I don't post about alternate universes unless I've managed a story out of them. Headcanon and AU ramble territory is already covered; why add more, especially when it's all branched out from an idea that wasn't even mine to start with?

Now, with it being an ongoing story, I hate to delve into much beyond the fact that it's all leading up to a pretty big fight. What interests me the most is what comes after that, in this particular timeline where crossovers are common, and how exactly Luigi's vampirism would be taken by friends and family across time and space.

There's also a point where I go off-timeline and involve the famiglia introduced in the 2023 movie, but that's best left to another post if anyone is still interested by then. For now, let's dive into the aftermath and some other things that come after.

Immediately After the Big Bad Battle

With Dracula and Mario both out for the count, Luigi takes it upon himself to get his brother out of there and back home. He comes very close to dying again on the way, what with having to outrun the rising sun, but he makes it back to town. He doesn't remember anything from then until waking up in the medical wing, where Mario is beyond relieved to see him awake. Turns out he only got hit by a stone from the crumbling castle walls, while Luigi nearly burned up. Thankfully, vampires heal quickly, especially when hooked up to an IV stocked with fresh blood, but it was still scary for Mario to watch. He decides, then and there, to not tell Luigi just how afraid he'd been of losing him--both to death, and to Dracula's thrall.

Seeing that Luigi had been out for a day and a half, and that news travels fast across worlds, it didn't take long for his fellow fighters to send cards his way. The first one he read (which easily became one of his favorites) was from Bowser Jr. and the Koopalings, consisting of a folded-over posterboard with an illustration of Luigi besting Dracula. By the looks of things, Junior might've heard a more embellished account (Luigi doesn't remember setting Drac on fire, for starters), but it was still sweet, reading the first of many well wishes with Mario by his side. No one has a harsh word for him. Instead, he's been worried over, enough to warrant advice and assistance from friends across the universe. It'll be a while before he takes anyone up on their offers, but when he finally gets used to his new life, he'll reach out and take their help.

For now, though, he's still shaken by what he's become, and what he'll have to do to stay alive.

It's right about then that Sonic and Tails arrive, laden with get-wells from everyone the brothers had met during the Olympics. Sonic dumps it all on the bed as Tails apologizes for their lateness; Sonic had personally gone around to everybody they knew and refused to leave until they wrote something. Heck, he even got Eggman to send along a card! Something about all this brings a tear to Luigi's eye, and before he knows it, he's sobbing, overwhelmed by everyone's kindness before scrambling back from those gathered.

What was he doing, letting so many people get close to him? Didn't they know what a vampire could do? It was one thing to have Mario nearby, but with three heartbeats calling out? He's afraid of losing control, of hurting them, like he'd nearly done the night before. Sonic immediately shuts that down. Last he checked, he was the fastest thing alive; therefore, if Luigi tried anything, Sonic would see it coming from a mile away and would be able to get everyone out of dodge. It takes a while to trust him and stop believing that he'll do something wrong, but Luigi comes around by the time Sonic and Tails have to leave. They promise to drop by before the next Olympics.

Luigi the Vampire Bro

Becoming a vampire has the potential to strip the victim of their humanity. Such a thing has not happened to Luigi, though he constantly fears that it will.

Some things about vampires, it turns out, were true. Others, thankfully, were not. Sure, he'd gotten rather pale, and his eyes had gone red and nearly cat-like, but he could still cook with garlic and see himself in mirrors made in the current century. There are a few mirrors in Peach's castle that are silver-backed, which renders him invisible in their presence--a trait Peach puts to use whenever she invites Luigi out to search for antiques.

The sun is very much his enemy now, made bearable only with the help of magic and parasols. Tails had given him an umbrella that automatically tilts to block the sun, and he never leaves the house without it. He also never goes anywhere without a bespoke protection charm, enchanted by Kamek to keep his senses in check, as well as a special sunshine-shielding badge from Sarasaland, courtesy of Daisy.

It becomes very clear that most of the foods Luigi loved before are not exactly appealing, nor nutritious, for a fledgling vampire. Aside from a handful of dishes that incorporate animal blood, Luigi's diet now consists of plasma fruit (I borrowed from the Sims and I have no shame, but I'm gonna say Peasley gifted the kingdom an orchard), the occasional tap into someone he trusts, and the bags of blood that E. Gadd brings around every week. The Professor has been very helpful in making life more accommodating for him, but Luigi has made it a point to never ask where he's getting all this blood from. Some things are best left unanswered.

(For those wanting to know, E. Gadd's getting it from animals, particularly New Donk City-raised rats. Plentiful, never-ending supply, and with the right treatments, perfectly safe for vampire consumption.)

Factor Takes on the 2024 Olympics

For those not familiar, the Mario and Sonic series went from a collection of sports minigames with the franchise's stars to…the same thing, but with dream events and a story mode starting with the 2012 installment. The stories usually involve the main antagonists getting up to no good while everyone else is chilling and having fun, with Eggman mostly in charge and Bowser as his lackey. After 2020, though, I wouldn't blame Bowser for sitting out on whatever Eggman's cooking up next.

The way I see the Olympics even working is for everyone involved to be warped to a pocket dimension--one that is pretty much a given Earth city, but branches off of whatever Earth is currently doing. It's the Earth that sees weird stuff all the time, so two worlds' worth of characters dropping in to play sports for two weeks is given a handwave.

By this point, Luigi's become a lot more comfortable with who he is, though he can't help but be a little shy upon seeing everyone again in Paris. The extended Sonic crew are more than happy to see him, though, and immediately set about to making him feel right at home. There's even a couple of new competitors this year: Cream the Rabbit, and Sage the AI. Sage mostly hangs back with Eggman during all this, watching from afar while Eggman sits and schemes. After the last failed Olympics plot, the Doctor's on his own; Bowser would rather not get killed doing the dirty work again.

So far, so good. Luigi is relieved that the shipment of plasma fruit made it to the kitchens, ready to be blended into nourishing smoothies to consume between events. He goes to bed, confident that things are going to go all right, that he won't have to actually consume any blood in front of anyone.

And then, the fruits go missing.

It wasn't apparent that something was wrong until after lunch, when he found himself in the kitchen sipping at a reserve bag while the chefs explained what had transpired. The crates had vanished sometime between last night and this morning, and for all that the crew were doing to locate them, not a trace could be found. They offer to slip blood into his sport bottles instead (which would be specially marked for him), but Luigi refuses. He drinks up for now, tells the crew to save the rest of the stock, and proceeds to play his heart out, pushing himself to perform for days without daring to touch the backups, even for dinner. Two or three days in, he's completely spent, wandering back to the cafeteria in a daze as his friends try to figure out what's wrong. He hadn't told anyone what he'd found out, hoping to find the fruit before things got bad, but it was all going downhill fast.

It's right about there that he comes across Eggman and Sage, who had been conspicuously absent all day, arguing about the nanobots Eggman wishes to deploy to ensure his own victory.

Turns out, Eggman had absconded with the precious fruits, wanting to turn their iron content into something he found more useful than consumption. With the right tools, each little fruit could become a synthesizer, pumping out nanobots and other things necessary for the Eggman Empire. If Luigi was truly a vampire, then surely he wouldn't have trouble finding something else to eat. Heck, maybe he'd be able to thin out the competition a little.

By this point, Luigi is seething. Here he was, threatening to pass out every other step, while his food supply had been taken to fulfill another one of the Doctor's self-serving plans. To couple it with such dismissal, along with the notion of feeding off of his friends, is enough to make him snap. It might've been a year since he'd last lost control of himself, but the monstrous form he assumes comes to him without a hitch, overwhelming him with a single directive: to rip out Eggman's throat.

Imagine something like that, but a few feet shorter, covered with the tatters of athletic wear. Imagine it charging at you with its fangs bared, all sense of reasoning gone out the window. This is Luigi's dreaded monster form, the very thing Dracula pushed him toward, being turned against another force out to mess with him. Had it not been for Sage's shields and the intervention of passersby, Eggman would've likely lost his head. After that brush with death, Eggman is more than willing to hand over the rest of the plasma fruit, though he holds on to the nanobots he's already made.

Sonic alone can't stop Luigi when he's like this. No one person can. Between Silver's telekinetic grip, Shadow and Knuckles pushing back against him, and Sonic getting Eggman out of the room, it takes everything Mario has to stay calm and find something to sate his bro. He's able to get to the kitchen and back with a bag before anyone gets hurt, except for him, because Luigi was quick to jump for the blood and ended up nicking Mario in the process.

Everyone holds their breath as Luigi drinks up, not daring to move a muscle. When he regains control of himself, he's horrified. Here he was, a monster amongst them, with Mario bloodied and backing away from him like all the others. With the wide berth he was given, Luigi takes the opportunity to escape, fleeing out of the village and into the city to get away from them before he hurt someone else.

In hindsight, he should've ran for the hills. The city, however, will have to do. Perhaps he can become one with the many, many gargoyles, passing time well out of anyone's reach.

He didn't deserve to be reached out to, anyway.

Marion's 2024 Manga Summary

there's a lot to sum up!

first and foremost, im putting all the series ive read this year in order regarding how much i've enjoyed them. im a pretty impatient reader and i dump things that dont spark any joy, so ive honestly had fun with all of them this or another way - id say i dont regret reading a single one. only pic 3 rows 4 & 5 disappointed me in some way, for others - i just didnt feel very thrilled with them.

overall, this year's manga journey was insane for me, as i've never been so compelled to return to the world of manga reading.

first and foremost, i have colleen's manga recs to thank for my newly found interest in shoujo. thanks to them i discovered (sometimes anew) so many series that people tend to shy away because we equal girlhood and even womanhood with immaturity, lightheartedness and everything about it revolving about (heterosexual) romance. the realization that i often disregarded manga because i never got to connect with traditional cis male shounen experience (im bigender, but im very closeted) was honestly wild to me. you mean there were things that represented my thoughts and feelings growing up all this time?! the absolute pearls of my 2024 shoujosei crown are easily kamisama kiss, ohana holoholo, pieta, from far away and sailor moon. i regret never giving sailor moon manga a chance, it literally made me feel overflowed with how much feelings and ideas was poured into it lol

discovering shuzo oshimi was just as wild. you know when people on twitter cant decide if someone is a freak (negative) or not you're in for a fun ride. and oshimi is a freak! despite my asexuality, i related a lot to the thoughts and ideas about the messy, ugly parts of coming to terms with yourself, your gender, your sexuality and your priorities in life. none of those are something easy to realize, you hurt people and yourself in the process, and i love how shuzo oshimi works with that. you probably heard of flowers of evil and inside mari - and i promise, those are not overhyped. it felt cathartic to read both, and i can only recommend those who want to try oshimi's works for the first time. his most recent work, welcome back, alice, was also my introduction to his art!

another crucial moment for me was closer to the end of the year, when i was a bit stressed out due to finals and other, well, things out of the "well THAT just happened" field. that was when i stumbled upon haru akiyama. i did so while browsing the yuri tag on the yuri scans site - as one does, - and stumbled upon brides of iberis. i dont see polyamory represented very often in media around my corner of the internet, especially with lesbian women involved, so it piqued my interest. and it was genuinely good! what akiyama excels at perfectly is drama. i get people calling her characters names, but to be honest? thats how people are - dramatic, messy, annoying and easy to panic when something stable they depend on feels like its crumbling in their hands. soap operas are based actually and her octave cemented my thoughts on that

this year was full of many new pleasant discoveries, and i plan to make many more! i have an anime planet account to track my stuff, so you can check out my planned to read stuff there or even be mutuals :) i'll also be reviewing the most enjoyable ones i checked out sometime later. i have a pretty humble idea of what i want to read in 2025, and it's basically:

urusei yatsura by rumiko takahashi. absolute classics! i cant let it go unread

20th century boys by naoki urasawa, as gfs propaganda has finally made me cave in (and i already started it in 2024. but shhh)

solanin by ueki asano. i never got through punpun but id still like to get acquainted with asano's work, so i decided to pick a lighter read of his.

cherry project by naoko takeuchi. well! i also started it in 2024, and the art is majestic. since sailor moon i absolutely cant stop thinking of takeuchi's flowy lines and dreamy screentones.

i have more in plans! but it's a secret. for now. you will see.

hi, i saw your post answering nick deactivating all their profiles and i want to admit this since i feel kinda responsible but i think i mightve been the reason why they deactivated, you dont need to post this if you dont want to but consider this an admission of guilt of some sort

because nick had all xyr profiles still up even after the alligations happened for a good month or so, i spontaiously remembered their existance one night and realised that, by locking their profile on twt (i didnt follow xem back) and noticing that most of their art wasnt on there ment that alot of people wouldnt get to enjoy their art, and me being big on archiving content i like i decided to start up a blog on archiving their art since they were semi-big in the fairly oddparents fandom on twitter

since ive ran two previous art archive blogs before i made sure to check that nick had been completely inactive and not on any other account, making sure not to post any of their art already on tumblr since the blog was still up at the time and i had planned on saving those as drafts if something happened, and i had set up a small queue on whatever art i could find searching their username on google, and most importantly i let them know in the pinned post that if they wanted this archive taken down then i will 100% take it down

the next day after i made that blog ive noticed i had recieved two dms from nick telling me to take this down, i didnt actually read them fully, all i saw was "may you take this archive down?" and sprinted to deactivate the entire blog (i would be lying if i said i wasnt curious to know how exactly they found the blog, but thats me being nosey someone probably told xem, not very relevant to the conversation)

it wasnt untill i was scrolling through my main blogs post on a tag that ive noticed that they deactivated, and at first i thought that maybe it just showed them as deactivated despite changing their url or something since ive noticed it would sometimes happen, but nope, fully deactivated

i personally, as ive mentioned, wasnt mutuals with xem nor would i have really considered us accuaintences, more of a 'people who happened to be in the same soup isle in the same store' shtick, but they would sometimes send funny replies, i wasnt very big into the ship they were posting at the moment but i liked their art and they had shared some wc crossover art that made me happy since that was my special interest and it was sorta stuck in my head as a special little conversation ive had, and while digging i admitibly got sorta fascinated by masha / sasha in general inspite of the fact ive never watched camp camp before (trying to fight the demons rn)

i hold absoloutly no grudge against nick for telling me i should take it down as they have a right to and i explicitly said in the pinned that i would , i just feel very bad about the fact that ive made them extremely uncomfortable to the point where xe felt like xe had to remove their two only platforms they were active on in general, and again i feel very strongly about preservation of media for others to enjoy and it backfired and now no one gets to enjoy it, including the fact that they had made alot of fanart for a rarepair

my psychiatrist didnt refill my mirtazapine before i ran out, the pharmacy needed her to approve more refills, and she didnt until after the weekend since she was off, so i ended up off of them for like. almost a full week </3 i had to take time off work and everything, i was having terrible physical withdrawals and mentally i was so paranoid i knew i wouldnt be able to hold myself together for a full 7 hour shift LOLOL

and honestly theyre not too bad! you get used to them surprisingly quickly, and ive been up at the front counter recently which is much chiller than the drivethru LMAO i get an order coming through maybe once every 10-15 minutes .. most of the downtime is spent either staring into space, sweeping the lobby, or wiping down tables, all of which r tasks im very confident in my ability to do without fucking up /silly

plus im much more willing to work 7-8 hour shifts when they give me free food on my breaks and pay me 16 dollars an hour (which is minimum wage here but still. so much fuckinm money (im jealous of california tho because their minimum wage for fast food workers is 20 whole dollars. wild!))

generally (excluding the time off my meds) ive been doing really surprisingly well! most of my free time has been spent doing schoolwork (i got rotary student of the month even!) or doing convention prep for kumoricon, though ive had some time for stardew valley and regretevator in there somewhere LOLOL its been good!!

this is a great question with a long answer! also tumblr deleted my first answer to this because it's a shit. also this is all lilac speaking

so way back years ago aru wrote a silly little crack fic. i was immensly entertained by this and was like you should post it online. so i made an ao3 acc called watery_meln_baller bc "our fics are so bad they make you want to water melon ball your eyes out". we used to have a whole taglline about using the kudos as a dislike button it was great. over time aru wroye a few more crack fics and i would post them for aru.

then i decided to take a crack (ha) at writing crack fic and was nervous about it, and since th waterymelonballer acc was for crack fics i just uploaded it on there instead of making my own. i had never written fic before and then it blew up and i was like oh damn. im famous. and then i started getting FANART for the fic and people were like do you have a tumblr so i can tag you?? and i was like okay. time to make a tumblr! i did not excpect to actually use it for anything besides being a place where i could post updates and behind the scenes stuff for fanfics

after identity fraud i went back to barely using the account. around the same time aru got into like, danny phantom n shit and then they started using the account a bunch. and began posting podfics, and non-crack fics. so aru used the tumblr for a while, and then they abandoded around the same time i started getting into toh and writing WAB. then i took over the account, started posting shit, and now i've been using it conistsently ever since! oops, sorry aru. ive got a whole circle of mutuals its a great time we are all buddies. aru will pop on here and post occasionally its great. tthere was a bit of time where we weren't talking as much bc of life but now we're back to regular texting and being buddies. but tbh if i had to share a tumblr account with anyone, aru would be the best :]

if you're asking something other than who would i hate if not dennis, sorry for answering wrong (though the amount that i wrote should qualify my answer as wrong no matter what). i did three reading comprehension tasks total throughout my entire education, and received feedback on none of them. i went completely off the rails so skip to blue, bold text if you just want the real answer

THE ANSWER:

-must of course be contextualised with the fact that when it comes to dennis, i am untethered and my rage knows no bounds. no amount of hate for any other person would substantiate. the runner-up for my-most-hated would compare to dennis as athlete's foot compares to gangrene. having established this, we can move on to establishing why i am dragging my answer out so much. it is because i crave human contact, yet i seem to dislike anyone close to me. the internet provides me with scraps of impersonal human contact that leave me oblivious to the real person, the human behind that interaction. this allows me to feel comfortable enjoying an interaction without convincing myself that i hate the other person. how can i hate someone i do not know? excellent setup! i feast like a starving lion. i suppose that with this in mind, i might claim that if not dennis, i could hate myself the most. but im assuming that we're talking sunny characters here.

it's hard to understand how i feel about the other characters, because i hold my affections about them while aware that they are obviously horrible people.

my mind jumped to dee first, seeing as she shares a lot of the same qualities that make me hate dennis. the most glaring example being that they are rapists. seeing a pattern of this trait in TWINS makes me a little sad though. it shows that what caused this probably had something to do with their parents. the fact that dennis is worse than dee can probably be attributed to his getting raped by the school librarian or whatever it was, as well as how differently their parents treated him on account of his being male. i think some patriarchally motivated power issues stem from that treatment, you can see how he acts out around women in this way (as if i have to explain). anyway dee would make sense as a solid contender. by default ill add her parents to the ring since im blaming them for making her the way that she is.

... im not a huge cricket fan. sure he has his funny moments which i adore, but that is much the same as the reynolds twins. i didnt love him before his decline/the development of his drug addiction, weakness and catholicism repulse me. (HALF JOKE. SORRY. sorry.) i say that he is weak due to his susceptibility to manipulation (a trait he shares with dennis- a man who was tricked into digging up his dead mother 'for gold')- by dee. she wasnt even in her milf era at the time and he left the whole church without even seeing a ring... ok :|. girlie travelled to a bar full of people who bullied and sexually assaulted him to check out a water stain :/ PLEASE. anyway then there's the drug abuse which was actually fairly slay i dont take issue with that. he got better and more acceptable after that in my mind.

third and final person ill seriously consider will be gail the fucking snail. ive seen gail apologists... no... shes not even that bad it's just that shes a caricature of REAL PEOPLE i have to deal with, i totally sympathise with the twins over hating and salting her. idc if she just wants to hang out. she should learn what fuck off means and start trying to find herself, rather than continually finding other people to latch onto obsessively and dissolving into a radioactive puddle of self-pity and non-committal, performative 'shame' every time she is rejected before restarting her circuit of the same 3 people she harasses. oh my god i dont think im talking about snail anymore. whatever. it's what she represents IT DOESNT HAVE TO MAKE SENSE OK THIS IS ABOUT THE PEEPEEPOOPOO SHOW.

heyy sorry dunno if ur ok with ppl asking for advice, but ive been on the twitter mgs fandom for a little while (mostly as a watcher rather than participating other than liking, rting and occasionally commenting or posting some art) and after a while i realized (a bit too late) that quite a few people that i interacted with are aggressively anti and i dont know how to pull away from them now.

Some were mutuals, i stopped following most of them but they still follow me and im not sure if i should just ignore it or whatever. My main account is very clean when it comes to pro/anti discussion and NSFW in general, altho i do like/rt/discuss a lot of anime art and media that has some questionable content in it (like the monogatari series for example)

Anyway, im just a bit scared they might see these "cracks" and it gets to a point of agression/exclusion/doxxing etc and im a bit terrified of that. Sorry if this sounds dumb, but could i ask you what you experience with the mgs fandom is like on twitter? Have you ever been in a similar situation?

I have a twitter that's mostly MGS-focused, but I've been building up defenses against the anti movement for a long time before that. I used to be mutuals with someone who was a really notorious asshole twitter anti, actually. I broke that when they started publicly slandering me, but before they could actually dox me, and they still followed me on side accounts for a couple years after that. I got very careful about vetting who I regularly interact with after that.

I got lucky dropping into MGS fandom, I've found a bunch of people who enjoy freaky stuff as much as I do. But I also had one of those friends get doxxed a while back over ship discourse that was spun as something much worse.

Personally, if I see a callout post and it looks fishy (only includes accusations of fic or art, etc), I will a lot of times block everyone that's retweeted or liked it. It's made me sad a couple of times to break mutuals, but I know I'm saving myself the pain later of potentially seeing them fall for it with me. This, when my friend got doxxed, ended up causing me to block like half of the twitter MGS fandom ngl.

Honestly, my secret to not accidentally making full on anti friends is that when I get into a new fandom, I look up their discourse and who antis say shouldn't be shipped together. Then I look and see who makes art/fic of those ships. If I don't like those ships specifically, I find people who ship both that and whatever I like. Usually I end up liking one or more of them anyways (solimiller...). Or I'll go through that fandom's fics with warnings on them and check out those authors' other works.

That's how I keep accidentally meeting a lot of people in fandom, it turns out. I read a fic, I look at the author's other works or their profile, it has a social media handle, or a discord link, or whatever else, next thing I know I'm talking to them and 5 more people they recommended about whatever freaky kink I found of theirs.

I do actually have a (mostly nsfw) discord link that I would share here, but given some of the weird interactions I've gotten tonight I'm gonna wait a couple days before I post it publicly. It's fandom neutral technically but a lot of us like our war boys (mgs/cod mostly). But uhhh if anybody sees this and wants in feel free to dm me/send an off-anon ask and I'll slip ya a link real quiet.

I warn people some of the heavier content that I regularly post as well, even though I don't explicitly use any discourse labels, but honestly the biggest thing is just pulling your interactions like weeds. People on the internet are, mostly, strangers. You don't like someone's vibes? You can block 'em. You see them being a dick to someone else and don't wanna risk them doing the same to you ? Definitely block. Someone makes posts you don't like and it keeps filling up the tags you frequent? You can block that!
