Opinion on True Love: So, this is a lot for him. Qualitatively, he's seen it, he has to believe it exists. He believes in love in general as an abstract, and that people objectively love him. Quantitatively, he has a hard time putting value on something he can't measure. The concept of romantic love in practice becomes a weighing of evidence that supports the theory. He's been betrayed a few too many times to trust blindly. Alternately, he absolutely believes in true love as a concept for other people. If that makes sense?

Opinion on Love at First Sight: Lust at first sight, for sure. Again, he wouldn't think this was anything that would be meant for him, and I don't think he would even be capable of recognizing that magnitude of emotion for someone he didn't know and trust to a significant degree.

How ‘Romantic’ Are They?: When he's not distracted (which, to be fair is saying a lot) he can be very thoughtful and attentive with a partner, to the point where it can give lovebombing vibes, but only from the angle of excess. He doesn't intend to manipulate, that's actually abhorrent to him, considering how he grew up. There are going to be logical gaps in his behavior; he's a product of his upbringing. He never heard 'I love you' from his father, so it's very rarely something he's going to be comfortable saying flat out, though he can be verbally and physically affectionate otherwise. He's going to spoil them, if they let him. Money means nothing to him, it's the effort and the time spent that matters. He'll research and find obscure or useful gifts they'll like, and if he can, he'll make them himself.

Ideal Physical Traits: Tony can see the value in beautiful people, and he's appreciative, don't get me wrong...but ultimately that's not what does it for him in the long run. A strong sense of character, a brilliant mind or clever sense of humor will absolutely win him over when a pretty face has lost his interest. (but if we have to focus on the physical, he's definitely an ass man, lol)

Ideal Personality Traits: dependability, again with the sense of humor, adventurousness, honesty. He clocks fake people quickly, and he can't be bothered with them. Tony sees (and wears) enough masks in public that he won't tolerate it long-term in his personal life as well.

Unattractive Physical Traits: personal (physical or mental) neglect, addiction, which is ironic considering the shit he's pulled, I realize. But I guess the trigger for him seeing someone else suffering like that is the threat of pulling him back down, too.

Unattractive Personality Traits: manipulation, cruelty, selfishness, disloyalty, dishonesty, cowardliness

Ideal Date: depends entirely on the person, and that will ultimately be his focus. He's going to have more fun knowing the encounter is tailored for the one he's with, and that they will enjoy themself and be put at ease. If it were just his preference, he'd probably stay at home (or somewhere very remote), those would be the only places he ever really gets to be himself without qualification.

Do They Have a Type?: He has a lot of types, to be honest, but what will grab him every time is a smartass who challenges him. He can't even help himself. Alternately, someone charming, kind, and capable can draw his attention (and since those attributes aren't mutually exclusive, some individuals really take him out lol)

Average Relationship Length: this depends largely on what stage of his life it's happening in...when he was younger he had a couple of relationships that were exclusive-ish (is it still exclusive if they cheat on you?), but later on it was pretty much all casual. After Afghanistan, I don't think he would be in a short-term relationship at all, really. It would take too much time to get past his defenses to anything that could even be categorized as romantic.

Preferred Non-Sexual Intimacy: watching movies curled together on a couch, having someone just doing their thing and sitting in the same room when he's working, talking about projects with a partner that gets it (unsurprisingly even his intimacy can have a lot of connections with his work), bathing/showering together, sleeping together (though this always makes him nervous due to his history, he still loves not waking up alone if it's someone that can manage him), massages or especially headrubs (he will actually get as close as a human can to purring)

Commitment Level: again depending on when in his timeline the relationship is occurring, early on, probably not happening, after Afghanistan, committed is all he can be with someone that he allows in like that.

Opinion of Public Affection: he's kind of an exhibitionist, but not to the point that he wants to make people uncomfortable. If he has feelings for someone, for himself he doesn't care who knows (plot depending), and he's lived in the public eye long enough that he can ignore the weight of a few eyes when demonstrating his affections (within reason xD).

Past Relationships?: He's been with/dated both men and women, (Tiberius and Pepper were the longest each of note) though definitely more women than men...publicly, at least. He has no preference for one over the other.

im just. people like laios!! laios is a nice guy! he is friendly and cares about people! he is weird, he doesn't understand most social cues, he oversteps boundaries, but they stay beside him, because they like him and he is their friend. he is their friend!!!!! friendship is not all sunshine and rainbows, relationships in general are not sunshine and rainbows. you will upset people, people will upset you, you will get into arguments, things will happen, but at the end of the day, the people close to you like you! they love you! they care for you! they want to work it out and get through it because they love you, but they will feel those emotions first! human relationships are complex and messy and life is complicated. even shows for toddlers know this.

Genuinely, what happened to “feminism is for everyone”?

That’s the feminism I grew up with: encouraging people to recognize that fighting sexism and restrictive gender roles helps folks of every gender. We’d push back on the idea that feminists hate men, pointing to inclusive feminist literature and how many men are feminists.

Now, there are so many people insisting that the solution to patriarchy is to openly hate and ostracize men no matter what. Why? What is the benefit? It’s certainly not effective in fighting oppressive structures to exclude half the population from your cause on the basis of immutable traits. It may feel cathartic to say horrible things about men and try to punish them for your frustrations with patriarchy. But the only actual effect I see is the increasing right-wing radicalization of young men, who are being told that the left hates them for the way they were born and presented with an abundance of proof that it’s true.

Why are we going back to treating men and women as different species? It doesn’t fix things to say “well women are the good gender and men are the bad one” this time. If you sincerely want to dismantle sexism, you’re going to have to unpack and let go of all sex and gender essentialism—even that which considers women inherently pure and men inherently immoral.
