I dont really do ToA anymore for multiple reasons- most of it being the final movie kinda caused me to lose my hyperfix on the series and the fandom left sorta a sour taste in my mouth (old drama, no point it unearthing it again but tldr; i dont like when fandoms become popularity contests where some become like the ‘leaders’ who people worship only their opinions and hcs and no one else) that I didn't feel like participating anymore sadly. and also my interests just changed, its Wizards fault i got into Arthuriana, and that led into monty python and idk i just like watchin mcyts xD

I honestly wish I still had some interest in it bc I left a lot (and i mean a lot) of fics unfinished that I wish i could have finished (IWAY and the Douxie fic especially) but everytime i open the wip i just get writers block lol

I do occasionally like go through the tag and rb fanarts to the sideblog @arthurshuge-tractsofland which is the only reason I made that bc if im gonna be real I want people to be on my art/main more for my current fandoms then like if i go back to being a ToA main (which I was for a good long while) but yeah!! Hii so sorry for bothering you but, I love writing I’ve been doing it for a long time. I’d like to post on tumblr but I’m kinda new to it and don’t really know how to use it (gifs, text colors,…) so if it’s okay for you could you maybe teach me how to use it or give me some tips?

HELLO HELLO!!! omg i'm so flattered PLS TT but that's so great to hear that u want to start posting here and join the community!! :D i'll try to make a comprehensive, basic guide, but i'm def not the best with the technical things like color gradients and the like 😅 so if u wanted to explore about that, there r a lot of other blogs here who can show u!

besides that, i'll put below the cut my two cents, and anyone can feel free to add if i forgot anything!:

1. gifs! i'm gonna say right off the bat that i don't use gifs a lot, if not, at all. but there r a lot of gifs on tumblr that u can find and use!! usually if u search up the thing u want a gif of, u could probably find it, but pls remember to credit someone if u use their gif!! and if they ask u to like/rb their post if u save it, then pls respect that as well!!

2. text colors: ngl, they're really sparse and a little ugly 😅😅 at least the ones tumblr provides, so a lot of people either just stick to the plain text color or they go on desktop and do the fancy custom coloring w hex numbers and things. i really don't know how to do that (?) but again, if u ever want to learn, i can point u to someone who can show u! but at some points, i do like using the text colors one at a time to make things stand out more against the plain text! to use the colors, just select the text accordingly and u can press a color or press it again to undo it

that's what it looks like on my end! ^

3. text fonts: personally, tumblr's method of doing this is really annoying sjxbksnfh but you can change the font of an entire paragraph without selecting it. the font button is the "Aa" in the left corner above ur keyboard. u essentially have to just click thru until u figure out which one you'd like depending on the aesthetic ur going for! a lot of people ik here just use this regular text in the three different sizes, or they go to like,, copy paste generators online and find a font they like their instead! i do use those frequently, so lmk if you'd like the link to the one i use!

4. tags: one of the most important ways to get ur works out into the world esp when ur just starting off is thru the tags! to tag ur fic, it's the hashtag symbol to the right above ur keyboard. u wanna use tags that pertain to ur fic, so try avoiding tagging ur fic w things its not (like if it's angst, don't put fluff). some common things i tag my fics w are "(group/idol) x reader" "(group/idol) drabbles" "(group/idol) social media au" etc. and usually if it's a pretty known/used tag, it'll appear while ur typing it in as well!

5. navigation menus: writers here usually have a pinned post or a post w a link to a "navigation" post or masterlist! i have my navi pinned, but it essentially is a central place where i link everything that i'd like people to see or things readers/other writers would want to find! things that include: masterlists, about me, faqs, recently posted works, etc!

6. fic formatting: it's unfortunate, but a lot of readers r put off by some types of formatting, which is why a lot of people stick to plain text color and plain text font. usually, u wanna include the title, the idol pairing, word count, genre, and any warnings abt the fic. none of these r required, ofc, but i recommend it! and most people do prefer that if ur fic is over 500 words, that u should out a "keep reading" bar after a paragraph or two! a keep reading bar is like the one i used at the beginning of this post, and u just go to a new line and type ":readmore:" and press enter, and it'll form for u! some people use pictures as a little border as well btwn their intro section and the actual fic.

i'm sure i'm missing other important things haha but when in doubt, take inspo from all the other creators around u! pls do remember to reblog people's fics when u read them tho — that's one if the most important things!

(just thought of this and adding, but try to avoid writing directly onto tumblr TT usually i do it on google docs first and copy-paste it onto here to do formatting! tumblr likes to delete things out of pocket sometimes so 💀)

tbh the most solid advice i can give (as a writing novice myself) would be to just write to your hearts desire! write whatever you want whenever you want and listen to your brain and heart. you'll get better with time eventually, write at your own pace!

see, the way i write is trying not to overthink it and write when i can/am inspired, then later on posting it once i feel myself start to nitpick stuff. if an idea doesn't come, it doesn't and i just have to move on (looking at you stripped wires. im coming for your ass. eventually) but im also just very excited for what i write. that untitled svart fic (which has a name now, im just not gonna share it hehe) is my baby rn. have i been writing it? no bc i can't make myself write, but the parts that i do write, if i do write them, are filled to the brim with all my excitement for the fic. also the way i write has changed! instead of just sitting down and writing it in one go i've just been working whenever i can!

but obviously this might not work for you, so just write the way you want! you wanna write at a schedule? do it! you wanna write once in a blue moon? do it! listen to your mind when you have burn out and try other things. surround yourself with people who genuinely like the thing you like so you can bounce ideas off each other!

(sub point: the tears of themis community as a whole is really kind! this, uh, this is my first ever active community actually. i've always lurked and rb stuff from others but tot felt genuinely kind from the get go. very proud to say that i made my first internet friends here and i wouldn't mind more! i feel like i'm still shy but i will send you memes and tiktoks)

like with anything, it's gonna start off rocky. it'll take you a while to find your footing but practice makes perfect! and also please please don't compare yourself to others it'll just discourage you. you never know who might write for a living or be younger than you. do look at others work for pointers on what you can improve on without plagiarizing stuff from them! also, don't just limit yourself to writing! storytelling can look like lots of things. comics, visual novels, fics, they're all just a way to express a story. experiment with what you like!

and yeah! that's all i can give you! writing is a hobby of mine that i genuinely picked up out of stress (i tend to do that if im incredibly stressed or through finals season) and i just kept going bc i liked it so much! the first step is wanting to write! the next is all up to you (:

fic prompt idea: nurseydex football/soccer au. [lowkey] rivals to friends to lovers.

i can’t tell if you meant one of them plays football and one of them plays soccer or if u were just trying to cover ur bases regardless of what i call that sport?? i’m gonna assume the latter but i don’t know shit about soccer so if anyone who does wants to rb and add more accurate stuff PLEASE DO lol.

and im also throwing this out into the world as a prompt for a legit fic since im doing more of a bullet point thing-- if u want to fic this then hell yeah do it and tag me!!

things i learned while doing some google searches for this post: there are ELEVEN players per team on the field at once??? what the FUCK

okay so they’re on the soccer team. after about 3 minutes of research i’ve decided they’re both fullbacks, and as nursey and dex do, they hate each other pretty much as soon as they open their mouths. and they are both extremely irritated by how well they work together (side note: do soccer players get grouped up in the same way that hockey players do? like on SMH nursey and dex are a d-man pair. does that exist in soccer?)

and their raging dislike for each other obviously turns into a competitive streak when they’re playing. or at team hangouts. or at parties. or doing literally anything. (chowder: are u aware that whenever u do something mildly impressive u immediately look at him to make sure he noticed / nursey or dex: IT’S SO HE KNOWS I’M BETTER / chowder: sure)

this means that they absolutely do DUMB SHIT together all the time. ‘i can eat this froyo faster than you’ ‘that’s not fair you got yours first you had more time’ ‘oh really and you’re just gonna give up??’ ‘fuck you no i’m not watch how fast i can eat this *immediate brain freeze*’

and somehow this turns into.... kind of enjoying each other’s company? the antagonism becomes less antagonistic and a lot friendlier and they both start to figure out where the bounds are (dex learns not to dare nursey to do things if he’s drunk because he WILL do them and dex WILL have to take him to student health. similarly, nursey learns dex has no sense of physical safety when it comes to temperatures. he WILL pull a ‘it’s not that cold’ at literally any time even if he’s turning blue.)

at one point dex is definitely like hey nursey maybe if you wore cleats all the time you wouldn’t fall on your ass so much and nursey’s ‘fuck you’ is MUCH less heated than it would have been in their first semester

and for about six months, they’re great friends and chowder is delighted that he no longer has to deal with nursey and dex’s bullshit about each other

then, obviously, they fall for each other and chowder has to deal with their bullshit again sorry dude

so guess what happens? they never really *stopped* doing dumb shit together but now there’s a definite undercurrent of ‘IMPRESS’ happening and a lot less daring each other to do dumb shit that might actually like,, turn out badly? mostly it’s just ‘shit that will make you look stupid and then you’ll do it and you’ll definitely look stupid but it’ll be endearing and i’ll feel all gross and tender and regret it’

and at one point they win a game and nursey basically tackle hugs dex who promptly falls on his ass and literally the FIRST thing dex says is ‘huh i guess i was wrong about cleats keeping you from falling’ and nursey is seriously repressing all of the ‘falling for you’ comments he COULD be making so he’s like ‘well technically you were the one who fell’ and then something in dex’s face changes and he’s like ‘yeah i did’ and it’s probably a little more tender/fond than he intended and nursey internally is like hey what the FUCK was that

they’re definitely lying on the ground in the middle of the field right now. nursey is literally lying on top of dex face to face. it’s extremely gay

and of course nursey gets up and holds a hand out to dex to help him up and dex DEFINITELY yanks him onto the ground again and they’re both laughing and roughhousing and the ENTIRE REST OF THE TEAM IS LIKE wow. wow do they. do they realize. do they know what’s happening right now

Aww, you’re so sweet! I actually watched Banana Fish a few months ago, but I recently re-watched it with my sister (and ripped my heart out again in the process), so that’s why I’ve been posting more about it lately!. Anyway, thank you for sending me the ask! :) Here are my answers:

001 | Fandom: Banana Fish

Favorite character: Honestly, as much as I love Eiji, it’s gotta be Ash. I will never stop grieving for him, and I appreciate the complexity of his character.

Least Favorite character: Yikes, there’s so many assholes in this show. I’m gonna go with Abraham for creating Banana Fish and then being a weak little bitch about it when shit hits the fan, and for hurting Shorter. Eduardo is also SCUM.

5 Favorite ships (canon or non-canon): I’m not sure if I could come up with 5 ships for this show…Asheiji for sure. Also Max + Jessica.

Character I find most attractive: Ash

Character I would marry: Blanca (hahaha, he’s well-read, attractive, mature, and cares for Ash despite the circumstances they’re both in)

Character I would be best friends with: I wanna be friends with Cain!

A random thought: Cain is such an underrated character! At least, I don’t hear much about him within the fandom. Sing is also a precious bby.

An unpopular opinion: Ash’s full name sounds kinda ugly? Like I love the meaning behind it, but Aslan Jade Callenreese is a bit much.

My Canon OTP: Asheiji

My Non-canon OTP: Don’t really have any.

Most Badass Character: It’s pretty much a tie between Ash and Blanca, but I guess I’d have to pick Blanca since he taught Ash.

Most Epic Villain: Dino. I wouldn’t call him “epic,” but his evil is an evil that’s not so in-your-face, but that still permeates the entire series (Please read @softasheijis‘s analysis of this, it’s great! Pairing I am not a fan of: Hm. I don’t know of many pairings in the fandom, but Ash + anyone other than Eiji just isn’t right, hahaha. Also Blanca + Yut-Lung is gross b/c of the age thing.

Character I feel the writers screwed up (in one way or another): Some characters may be screwed up in the head, but other than that, no one.

Favourite Friendship: Shorter + Ash!

Character I most identify with: Ash. I have never experienced any kind of trauma to that comes anywhere near to what Ash had to endure, but I identify with the difficulty he had with believing he’s someone worthy to be loved. I’ve got low self-esteem and it can really get to me at times :/ I also don’t tend to trust people very easily.

Character I wish I could be: Hmm, well, I don’t think I’d want the tragic life that comes with being any of the characters…but if I had to choose I guess it would be Yut-Lung so I could have his wardrobe, lol.

002 | Ship: Asheiji

When I started shipping them: Honestly - the pole vaulting scene - I knew they were a ship from what I heard about the show before watching it, so my love of their connection was instantaneous. More realistically - that tender moment in Ep. 11 when Eiji promises Ash that he’ll stay by his side, even if the rest of the world turns on him. (God, I’m almost crying just writing this).

My thoughts: This is one of my all-time favorite ships  because the dynamic between the characters and what could have been between them sticks out for me. They deserved better.

What makes me happy about them: Their trust. They would give their lives for each other, and even though this turns out to get them both in a lot of trouble, it comforts me to think that Ash found someone he could rely on after 17 years of hell. Also, the fact that they can both be themselves in the relationship; as Max said, Ash found someone he can finally act his age around, unguarded.

What makes me sad about them: Ash will never get to go to Japan with Eiji :’(

Things done in fanfic that annoys me: Making them suffer any more than they already have.

Things I look for in fanfic: More fluff/hugs/domestic content

My wishlist: I don’t really understand this question? I wish for them to be happy. That is all.

Who I’d be comfortable them ending up with, if not each other: There’s just no other non-platonic pairing for either of them that I can think of.

My happily ever after for them: Ash goes to the library after being stabbed, but calls himself an ambulance, or Max, or anyone who could get him to the hospital, recovers, then meets up with Eiji in Japan where they live a happy, simple life together (as much as possible, ik Ash still has a ton of shit he needs to sort through.)

003 | Character: Eiji

How I feel about this character: His pureness always makes me smile, but he’s also got some spunk! Lol, as in, he teases Ash and isn’t afraid of him (the pumpkin thing, being able to wake Ash up when everyone else is terrified, throwing Ash in the shower, etc.) and he also becomes more able to defend himself as the show progresses; first he goes to Chinatown to find Shorter wearing that ridiculous outfit, then he holds Yut-lung hostage (kinda) and (tries) to shoot Dino. Bless him.

Any/all the people I ship romantically with this character: Ash

My favorite non-romantic relationship for this character: I love his interactions with Bones and Kong!

My unpopular opinion about this character: Not sure if this is “unpopular,” but I’ve heard some stuff about Eiji being more “edgy” (haha, see what I did there) in the manga, so I’d like to see more of that play out in the anime, to give him a little more nuanced character.

One thing I wish would happen / had happened with this character in canon: I wish we could’ve got more background info on him. Like we know that he’s a former pole-vaulter and that he has a little sister, but not much more than that. I think one of the side stories of the manga has this content though!

Favorite friendship for this character: Eiji & Shorter! Shorter was so protective of Eiji during their limited time together, and I would have loved to see more Ash - Eiji - Shorter friendship interactions.

My crossover ship: Hm, can’t think of any at the moment!
