how did you get avisynth on mac? i recently got a mac and im so lost :(

hey there! how did you know i have a mac lol. anyways uhhhh i was going to link the tutorial by blindkpop that i followed but i think they deleted it so i’ll TRY to explain as it’s been a while since i downloaded it so um im not sure how accurate this is…. but if it’s fucked up, just shoot me a msg and with my very non-expert brain i will attempt to troubleshoot and fix this post.

first you need to download playonmac. it’s free. install it and open it.

then u go download brandinator’s avisynth stuff here. click the first link which will let you download an avisynth exe file. 

now go back to playonmac and click “install a program: at the left. at the bottom left click “install a non-listed program”. keep clicking next until u get to the part where they ask you to name your virtual drive. just type “drive”. click next until they create your drive. when it’s created, click “browse” and find your avisynth exe file (probably in your downloads), click next blah blah blah install it and wait for it to finish. when that’s done, select “I don’t want to make another shortcut” and click next. 

now go back to brandinator’s page and go to the link for the avisynth gif pack thingie folder and download both folders. unzip them both. open the plugins folder, select all, and copy. now go to your desktop and on the top bar, click go > home > playonmac’s virtual drives > drive > drive_c > program files > plugins and just paste everything in there. if there’s any errors, just click “replace”. now go back until you’re at the folder where program files, users, and windows are in and drag the video folder there.

almost done!! now go to this link and download the file. now go to the video folder and delete x264 lossless.bat. after you delete that, drag the file that you just downloaded into the video folder. if it says x264lossless.bat.txt for some reason just rename it and delete the .txt part so that it’s just called x264lossless.bat, click enter and it’ll ask u if u want to keep the file as .txt or .bat, and you should choose .bat.

ok so unlike with brandinator’s tutorial for windows, none of that normalwebm bat shortcut works unfortunately. first of all, your video file that you want to gif must be stored in go>home>playonmac’s virtual drives > drive > drive_c so I suggest you make a shortcut to that folder. to actually open avisynth, open playonmac, click configure on the top, go to drive, click wine, open command prompt and type: c:\video\x264lossless.bat c:\yourfilenamehere.tsmp4whatever and then you would enter a timestamp which follows the format of hh:mm:ss and the once avspmod opens, it’s the same as windows.

all of this knowledge was learned from blindkpop and brandinator!!! I take no credits for being smart but you can thank my good memory.
