not gonna lie i really hope that the blue eyes super sonic is 1 just a temporary thing (which it probably is im not expecting this to be a permanent change at all) and 2 isnt like. Super Sonic But More Powerful Or Whatever. obviously i think transformations are fun but imo they should mostly just introduce fun new abilities that sonic wouldnt normally have or show what would happen if he used the power of whatever important objects/gods/etc are in that game. not try harder and harder to be stronger than previous transformations each time. super sonic is Already supposed to be the strongest most powerful version of sonic and in my opinion introducing other forms that are just "super sonic but better" makes super sonic feel kinda. pointless? weaker? idk if what im saying makes sense at all.. to be clear it wouldnt be the end of the world to me if they did this its just not something i really Want them to do
#my guess is that its like. cyber energy messing with sonic's super form somehow#if this is supposed to be a super sonic but more powerful thing then they should make it temporary for sure#like the circumstances that caused it would be extremely difficult if not impossible to replicate again#that or sonic just needed to use cyber energy for this specific enemy for whatever reason#and this version of super sonic is only more useful than normal super sonic in certain situations#that way in future sonic media when they bring out super sonic it wont be like.#''well whats the point in using super sonic when this other Better transformation exists''#sonic frontiers#sonic frontiers spoilers

Hello, can I request some inner child HCs featuring Gang Orca? Where he saves a kid who has a quirk that makes them appear frightening, like, they turn into a monster when their adrenaline spikes and/or they get emotionally distressed. They were abandoned by parents who couldn't deal with the child's "outbursts", had a panic attack, and turned into the monster form. Heroes are called in to fight what appears to be a villain threatening civilians (actually just a child in a large, frightening body who is struggling to regulate their emotions). Orca realizes what's up and stops other heroes from attacking before he calms the kid down.
Inspired by how I'm haunted by the fact that Orca is on the heroes that look like villains list and is secretly upset that kids find his appearance scary. Let him adopt one with similar struggles who isn't scared of him!
Okay so I’m thinking that the reader would be similar to The Hulk as where the child will unintentionally transform after a certain amount of adrenaline is in their system and I’m thinking they’d be a buffer and more muscular version of RWBY’s Grimm Hound
Basically it’s got super intelligence and can even grow wings but with Hulk’s strength. That’s the idea.
Gang Orca x Child Reader:
Monstrous transformation
It was a disaster. Carnage and wreckage everywhere. You had been living on the streets since your drunken father kicked you out for being a monster. You had a hard time dealing with your quirk. You knew it was some kind of transformation quirk, but you had yet to fully transform. Until you did. You had been minding your own business walking down an alleyway towards where you had been sleeping. You hadn’t eaten much in the last few days and you hadn’t slept well. All of this was too much for your child brain so you broke down. You had a panic attack.
As you sat clutching at your head you didn’t notice how you seemingly grew and changed. Your bones shifted and realigned, muscles grew and redeveloped, you grew shard claws and fans as you turned into a beast. So caught up in your emotions, you were startled by a passerby who screamed at the sight of you. You then lost it. As something primal decided to act on the rage and pain you felt and built up over the years.
A hulking monstrous bear, wolf, human hybrid thing that looked like it was born from nightmares tore out of the alleyway past the innocent man and into the street where traffic pulled to a stop as people began to scream at the terrifying creature. The creature began to destroy its surroundings and cut cars in half, throwing them everywhere, damaging buildings as it wrecked everything and people scurried away in fright.
Heroes were called in to deal with this supposed villain. Amount the heroes was Gang Orca. As the creature threw heroes out of the way and tore through them it dodged their attacks and took heroes down. It wasn’t until Gang Orca used his sonic attack on the creature that it finally seemed affected and halted as it shook its head. Your head was splitting as the ringing got worse. It managed to snap you out of whatever was happening to you. As you decreased in size and eventually became your normal self, you fainted. Seeing that it was actually a child, Gang Orca quickly realized that what happened was most likely unintentional and was the result of a powerful quirk that got out of control for a child.
He took the child to a hospital where the police informed him about the child’s living condition and situation. When he thought about how everyone was scared of you, even your own father, he decided to take you in. When you wake up you start to panic as you’re in an unfamiliar place. Gang Orca hears this and enters your room and tries to calm you down. Upon seeing the Orca hero the first thought that comes to your mind, comes out of your mouth.
“Can you talk to whales?”
You look up at him with that childish curiosity and wonder. He can’t help but smile seeing that a kid isn’t actually afraid of him for once. He chuckles and pulls a chair up to your bed and sits down at your bedside.
“I don’t think I can, but I’ve never really tried.”
“Do killer whales like you and think you’re one of them? Oh, do you eat seal meat? Are seals scared of you? oh oh, do sharks swim away from you cause they think you’re an Orca? Would a pod of Orcas accept you as one of them? How fast can you swim? Do you like cold water or warm water better? Can you breathe under water like a whale? Who would-“
Gang Orca just laughed a deep belly laugh at your onslaught of questions. He even slapped his knee in delight as he tried to rein in his laughter. He smiled at you as you tilted your head in curiosity, not able to understand what was so funny.
“Alright, I’ll answer your questions one at a time. But after I do that, do you think you we could talk about you a bit and that quirk of yours?”
“Um… sure. But my questions come first okay”
“Okay. Well first, I’ve never met any killer whales but I guess maybe I should. I don’t eat seal meat, I eat normal food like beef and pork and yes, I’d probably assume that seals are afraid of me. I’ve never been close enough to a shark to tell if they’re afraid of me. I think I’d have to find a pod of Orcas to see if they’d accept me but I doubt they would. I can swim pretty fast, at least faster than average. I don’t really have a preference on water temperature but I guess I’d have to say cold. And as for breathing like a whale, I do have a blowhole, whales don’t have gills since they’re not fish so they breathe air like you and me.”
“Wow, you’re so cool”
“Why thank you”
“Can I be as strong as you someday?”
“Well actually, that’s what I wanted to talk to you about. How would you feel about coming to live with me and having me help you with that quirk of yours? I’d be your new legal guardian and I’ll take care of you and help you with everything. How’s that sound”
“Does that mean no more sleeping on the ground outside?”
“Yeah, we’ll go and get you a nice soft bed and we can even decorate your room however you want.”
“Can I have glow in the dark stars on the ceiling? And a pet bat?”
“Yes to the stars but I’m afraid bats aren’t the best pets but we can probably talk about some other kind of pet once we get a better understanding of your quirk. You wouldn’t want to accidentally hurt an animal.”
“I guess that’s true. I’m kinda tired. Will you stay here?”
Gang Orca smiled as you yawned and looked at him with tired eyes.
“Yeah, I’ll be here when you wake up”
“Okay, goodnight”
“Goodnight”

in my movie rewrite, there's a big emphasis on environmentalism. one of GUN's primary objectives is to find an alternative source of energy, because fossil fuels really aren't working out for the planet, and they've deemed solar/wind/etc as failures because they're slow to catch on. what they covet is a limitless energy source that they can milk like a battery for humanity.
10 years ago, they got close to something promising when they discovered a sunken island near the bermuda triangle. but their progress was thwarted thanks to one of their scientists going rogue. she took all of their research, wiped their computers, and ran. GUN has a new guy working on the case now (eggman) but he's eggman so his ego and personal projects are getting in the way of any real progress. that is, until he catches something unexpected with one of his drone's cameras: an artifact that had been recovered from the bermuda triangle research site a decade ago, hanging from some kid's neck. it's annie's key! (sonic is in the picture too, but he's just some blurry blue smudge.)
the truth of the matter is this: the sunken island is angel island and the key will free Chaos. you know, the big water monster guy. that rogue scientist, aka annie's mom, figured this out 10 years ago and stole the key before GUN could use it. i'm thinking also that the key isn't really a key, but some ancient seal thing that just so happens to look like a key. in reality, it's Chaos' mind or heart or something. and the closer sonic and annie get to the island, the more it stirs, and annie starts having some really weird dreams...
i was also thinking that the reason why long claw did all that shit and isolated sonic and etc is because he's The One Living Person who can use the chaos emerald's power and go super. basically he's an extremely dangerous weapon. in my rewritten lore for the movies, only one person has this power at a time and it has been historically used to obliterate entire planets so long claw's species are tasked with finding each generation's chaos controller (lame name but i can't think of something better rn) before anyone else can swoop them up and groom them into being a weapon of war. btw it's completely random who has this power. kind of like the avatar i guess. cuz i want to keep sonic's "just some guy" thing intact, it's important to me.
this would also make shadow showing up way down the line extremely disconcerting because he's not supposed to exist. but i guess no one accounted for artificially made hedgehogs. ha

what r your shadow headcanons?! 👀
👀🖤 Ooooo oh my gosh!!! Thank you for asking op! A lot of them I have are kind of inspired a looot on the future AU I have, and starts from basically the beginning of his life to the potential end... so let's see where this goes...
(Disclaimers: This is written like a week before SXShG comes out so until we learn the new crazy information that I'm sure is going to rock all of our headcanons and theories for better and the worse, this is what I've got for now. Also I base this all on the two world theory, of Earth and Sonic's world being separate universes but currently are being brought together with Chaos Energy and that perhaps a lot of the Earth's magic/energy/gods have somehow been awoken with Chaos Energy, which may have caused the worlds to be open to each other... if that makes sense...😅)
ANYWAY, LETS GO
-Gerald/GUN had been messing with the possibility of interdimensional travel for a long time and were eventually able to tap into Chaos Energy, which allowed for the ability of Gerald to be able to do research on Sonic's planet, and for GUN to find and collect the chaos emeralds.
-Gerald needed dna from the (at least what he thinks) is the local chaos emerald's planet because any of the human or animal dna that they've been using back on earth isn't strong enough to withhold the energy of the emeralds and falls apart.
-Shadow is a hedgehog possibly because the part of the planet Gerald was researching was an ancient burial ground of a people who worshipped the Chaos Emeralds and figured it would be easiest to abstract ancient alien hedgehog dna from bones (Jurassic Park Style) rather than upsetting the rest of the planet because who knows what it could unleash, and the last thing GUN needs is ANOTHER alien invasion.
-Speaking of Aliens, the Black Arms were brought in as both a way to appeal Doom's promise of invading again, but also because Gerald needed something genetically stronger that would be able to withstand chaos energy.
-Shadow was supposed to be the start of an underground program of developing super soldiers for GUN but obviously due to the raid, that was shut down.
-We know that chaos is power, power enriched by the heart, and part of the reason so many experiments failed was because the energy could not properly bond without a positive influence, hence the need for Maria's pure heart and soul.
-The Black arms blood only acted as a bonding agent for the chaos energy to sustain the life form they were creating.
-Gerald incorporated the aspect of putting Maria's Soul/heart into Shadow behind Doom's back, and in so doing saving Shadow's life from being able to be completely overtaken by Doom. (Maria helped save his life too 🥺😭)
-Shadow has the same amount of Chaos Energy coursing through his body as an actual chaos emerald.
-His inhibitor rings act like both a seal and storage of his chaos power. Without them the energy would burn away to quickly to be able to regenerate and it would eventually kill him. Eggman is the only one so far known be able to rebuild perfect replicas to replace them (Heroes)
-He uses his inhibitor rings to store chaos energy to use as spears/snapping/skating etc.
-He skates using excess chaos energy that he burns off.
-Due to having so much chaos energy in him, he doesn't get as cold as easily or quickly and can go a little longer without eating. Though if he has recently done a chaos blast or gone super, he definitely notices a drain on his energy and gets really hungry.
-Shadow was only a few years conscious/old on the Ark when the raid happened.
-Shadow is currently deep in his grieving process, but doesn't even know he's grieving. All he knows is that he feel safer and more in control when he's alone and isn't really able to explain or understand why he's so angry.
-Shadow is deeply afraid of accidentally hurting those around him and self-isolates as a way to protect them.
-Sometimes he can feel the amount of energy coursing through him and it scares him. He doesn't fully understand how powerful he really is, or what the limits to his power even are.
-Despite his friends constantly telling him otherwise, Shadow thinks that he really is nothing more than a conscious weapon and doesn't deserve to be anything more.
-He deals with a looooooot of self loathing and survivors guilt, that often comes out as pride and bravado.
-He gradually gets his memories of the events of SA2 after being rescued in Heroes, and was a little hurt at first as to why Rouge hadn't told him everything initially... They had a long complicated talk about it, but soon Shadow realized that how would you even begin to tell someone the things that happened to him.
-Chaos energy eventually will heal his brain of the damage done from the brainwashing and manipulating that Gerald did.
-He is a naturally quiet, reserved and introverted person, but unfortunately the trauma he's suffered kicked it all into overdrive and now socializing is exhausting and awkward.
-Being in cities for too long overwhelms him.
-He is incredibly intelligent and a brilliant strategist, but technology and computers often stump him and it frustrates him (bless)
-Babies and chao are strangely drawn to him. I think they're able to instinctually sense the inherently calming and healing aura he has, and was originally intended to have. This does confuse and fluster him greatly. 😂
-As Shadow heals and moves on he gradually gets more of a sense of humor. It is a dry sense of humor though, and he can get very very sarcastic.
-Rouge was the first person he really allowed himself to get close to or trust himself to be safe around.
-He eventually goes back to live in Sonic's dimension and to suddenly be in a world where everything fits him was a weird adjustment to get used to.
-Shadow sleeps on his back, and only starts to snore when he feels safe and calm.
-Shadow does age, but he ages very very slowly. (think Logan/Wolverine) There will eventually come a time where he notices that he's stopped aging alongside his friends.
-Sometime in the future, Shadow will discover that his powers also have the ability to heal. And he eventually is known to be as great a healer as much as he is a warrior.
-Due to his healing abilities it will lead him to the Master Emerald where Knuckles helps teach him how to meditate and be able to connect with that deeper spiritual aspect that there is to chaos energy.
-He guards the Master Emerald for a time after Knuckles and everyone else is eventually gone... both as a sense of respect and purpose but for solitude and space to grieve again.
-He will have to watch all of his current friends die... but he does become a guardian and a stable rock of guidance and wisdom that the future generations can depend on.
-Shadow is Silver's great great great (idk how many greats) grandfather, and got to see him be born, but due to a calamity threatening the planet was unable to be there for him to help him grow up.
-Shadow and Omega both go out in a blaze of glory together as companions and dear friends as they save the world together to give it a second chance to survive...
AND THAT'S ALL I HAVE FOR NOW... I'm sure I'm forgetting some and will have more come to me later, but I'll start with these.
G o s h so much of Shadow's story is just... so sad. There's so much healing, hope, love and purpose in there too... but at the cost of great sadness... and I think a lot of us can relate to that in deep personal ways. And I think that's what makes Shadow so important and special to us as a character.
#shadow the hedgehog#shadow headcanons#sonic headcanons#THERES JUST SO MUCH THERE#AAAAAAAAAAAA#thank you for the ask op#it was fun#hehehe#LET THE BLORBO SUFFER

2024 art recap
My favorite piece from each month! I can't say I've grown much over the past year, but perhaps a little. Open the post to see my reflection on each piece. 💙
Tw for first two months mentions of $H
January
This was the only thing I could find from January, since my old phone got busted and all the dates on my photos got messed up. But luckily I really like it anyway so I guess it's my favorite of the month by default! During this time I was still battling with s3lf harm and so this character was supposed to represent that. Yes it's edgy, no I wouldn't have picked this one if I had any other image from January. This one was also very experimental, I've used this brush a grand total of 1 time other than this one. I felt it fit the aesthetic.
February
Again, this period was sort of like the dark ages in the fact that most of my images got screwed with after switching phones, so I don't have many drawings that I know were from February. However, this one again is a favorite of mine in general so it's not so bad. This is the only other time I used that brush. I also created this character as a sort of way to cope with my s3lf harm urges, except she's far older than the last one. This image doesn't feature it, but they have lots of scars and often open/bandaged self-inflicted wounds due to how their power works, which is blood manipulation. Again, edgy as all get-out.
March
I'm not super happy with some aspects of this but I worked really hard on it. This is a character of mine that I didn't design but still cherish lots. Her name is Coralina or just Coral for short. You'll see her again soon.
April
Once again I could not find much for April, but luckily I remembered that I did a bunch of chalk stuff at a school event that month and this one is both relevant to my blog and one of my favorites. I did a good ring too but that's in a different image.
May
This was something I designed as a contest entry that I don't believe I won so as far as I know it's my character now. I think the spots on the tail clash with the gradient but oh well.
June
There were a lot of good options for this month since I got back into commissions and art trades, but there's something about this one that I especially like. It's not fancy or anything but it showcases my style well.
July
Artfight season! Surprisingly this wasn't an attack but rather a character I made specifically for Artfight. They're based off of Miracle Musical's album Hawaii: Part II. I'm really proud of the design but I haven't really done anything with him since besides a couple drawings.
August
Here she is again! I used this image a lot to show an example of my work when offering art trades. I think I made it with that in mind? It's hard to remember. But anyway, here she is again! Plus one of my sonas, Pop Rocks!! I love her to bits. I originally made her as an adoptable that I traded to someone else, but I regretted it later and luckily my friend got her back for me! I have so many drawings of that little goofball but this is my favorite.
September
There are absolutely parts of this that suck balls but there are parts that I really like too. And I remember enjoying drawing it. This was for an art trade.
October
During this time I made matching bust drawings of all the 10 main characters from my comic. (calling it a comic is a bit of a stretch, I only have 2 chapters drawn and it's been well over a year (maybe two?) since I've touched those pages) Although I've made next to no progress on actual pages, I draw the characters often and love them with all my heart. I especially like how this one turned out.
November
At the time of drawing this I hadn't practiced drawing ferals in ages, so I was very worried about the result, but it turned out better than I could have imagined! This was another art trade, and I love the character design so much!!
December
And now we're here! I've been doing more scenes recently with my fanart, but I just love how Sonic turned out in this one so I had to include it. It almost doesn't look like my art, though the hands give it away. At first I wasn't impressed with how Shadow was looking but it's grown on me. ❤️🖤

Thoughts on Sonic Movie 3
Background: Sonic Adventure 2 changed me fundamentally as a child born the same year as Sonic Adventure 1.
SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT
The movie adaptation of SA2 did a fantastic job of adapting the elements of the original story that were most digestible to a wide audience, those being Shadow's (mildly compromised) backstory, his relationship with Maria and G.U.N, and his redemption and sacrifice to correct the things he set in motion.
The humor was good and fun! Lighthearted as a kids movie is, but enough genuinely fun bits of comedy to be enjoyable as a young adult. Jim Carrey carries a significant portion of the movie himself, as was the case in movie 1 and especially movie 2.
Visually, this one looked really great! Shadow looked phenomenal in this, looking noticeably better than Sonic did, and only a hair better than Knuckles and Tails. I was discussing with friends about this specific point, perhaps Shadow's frontal outline is just a bit stronger than Sonic's? The quills sticking out to the sides in comparison to Sonic's disappearing behind his head?
Story-wise, in comparison to SA2 the video game, it's good enough for me to be satisfied with. Below is the ramblings of a madman.
Shadow's origin is fully alien (assumedly black arms). In the movie universe, he falls from space in a black arms meteorite. Maria is never said to have an incurable disease, and there's no connection to the ancient Echidna murals depicting Super Sonic and Final Weapon that Gerald researched on Angel Island. We never get to see Shadow happy while living with Maria. We never got to see them develop into brother and sister. A large part of the angst that Shadow carries is the isolation of being so immensely powerful, but still being unable to fulfill the purpose he was created with all that power for. The research project that lead to his birth was a desperate gamble by Gerald to try to find a cure for Maria's NIDS with the help of Black Arms DNA.
Somehow, Shadow is introduced and explored without Chaos Control ever being mentioned. This is a byproduct to the shortcomings of Sonic movie 2, where the chaos emeralds were entirely sidelined for the Master Emerald, which in this universe, seems to be an amalgam of the 7 emeralds rather than a distinct "Controller" emerald. It's never named, but many obviously chaos powers are shown. Shadow warps around the room in his reveal scene. He uses Chaos Spear in his super form to destroy the cloud of G.U.N robots. He uses "Chaos Energy" to charge the Eclipse Cannon.
Shadow removes his inhibitor rings during the Super Teamup, which WOULD make the SA2 version of events work even more phenomenally than it does in the game, but because Sonic fizzles out first and Shadow ends up dying* to the cannon, that significance is lost. Those rings are suppose to keep his output of natural chaos energy within reason. Think 8 Inner Gates from Naruto, where unlimiting yourself burns you to nothing unless otherwise stopped.
Gerald is alive and is directly responsible for the "dark side story" and egging Shadow on avenge Maria. He never got the chance to remove memories about Maria in this story, but instead fed those painful memories to him in real time while they were face to face. Gerald being alive is the single thread that allows for Amy and Rouge to be omitted from this story without consequence. Both Rouge and Amy were critical to Shadow regaining his memories of Maria and his promise that he made to her. Throughout the game story, Shadow makes it clear he remembers making a promise to Maria, her sending him to the surface, and her getting killed by G.U.N soldiers. But because of Gerald, he never remembers WHAT that promise was, but through the kindness Rouge and Amy show him, he eventually breaks through and remembers his promise was to HELP. He might not have been able to save her, but he can save everyone else.
The movie chooses to rework this dynamic. He remembers everything that happened of that day. Meeting back up with Gerald was the single worst thing that could have happened to him. Gerald is the living embodiment of the life that was stolen from him. He's an old wound on Shadow that's still festering. This allows Shadow to fall deeper into his anger, but still naturally come out of it upon reflection. "Is this what Maria would have wanted?" This is something he never got to ask himself in the game because of how devoted to her he was.

Allow me to rant a second if you please 🙏 been sitting on this for a while now but the thing i need most for sonic movie 3 is for Sonic to grow into his game self a lil more, give me that unrelenting confidence and cockiness, I don't want Shadow constantly beating him into the ground (which i feel like is gonna happen anyways T-T) like what happened with knuckles, I don't want them all teaming up to fight Shadow coz he's too powerful or whatever, Sonic has never had trouble going one on one with Shadow before, Shadow very rarely beats Sonic in a fight, or it's at least a draw, it's also one of the big reasons Shadow has such an issue with Sonic, coz he can never properly beat him when he's supposed to be 'the ultimate lifeform' and it's honestly one of my fave things about their dynamic. I know movie Sonic is very different from game Sonic, he's a lot less experienced and all that and I love him dearly he's my precious bby boi but I think it's time for him to really start growing into that confident, super sure of himself, unrelenting hero that we all know and love. They really need to stop nerfing my boy, let him grow a little, it's His World after all ;)
#I'm sorry for ranting I don't do this often DX#I just had to get this off my chest#he needs to start being on the level of his game counterpart#my boy needs a serious power boost#I'm pretty sure he didn't win a single fight against knuckles in the second movie and that's always bothered me#I know power isn't everything Sonic's more than proved himself a hero#but sonic is also one of if not the most powerful character in canon (he got that mc privilege lmao)#and I just feel like movie Sonic needs to start down that path#sonic the hedgehog#sonic movie 3#sonic wachowski#sonic#sonic 3#shadow the hedgehog

hi hi! could I request a Pitaya Dragon x Dark Cacao fan child? an example of a name might be dragonfruit choco, which my friend came up with for this ship they came up with. their dynamic is two big guys with swords and anger issues that are besties but also maybe more??? :000
oh and snapcube sonic and shadow
I only realized now that there was a suggestion for the character. Sorry about that. Anyways, this here is Dark Sapote Cookie
Also one thing to note, I basically had Dark Sapote finished months ago. I think you can tell by the way their lineart doesn’t entirely match what I do now. Literally all that was left was the sketch, which I did today. There’s another fankid in that boat, so she might get posted today too (among others that I just have forgotten to post)
But also on top of that, it’s been a good while since I’ve thought about Dark Sapote, so I may miss some stuff
Anyways, on to Dark Sapote. They’re half dragon and live in the Dark Cacao Kingdom. They have a more dragon like form they can transform into, though it’s more of a drake than a dragon, and they don’t turn into it often. They’re technically an heir to the Dark Cacao Kingdom throne, but they don’t do much of anything, so they aren’t really considered such. They also choose to live outside of the Citadel in a cave somewhere
Dark Sapote is extremely chill and often very sleepy, to the point where they’re pretty lazy. However, this isn’t entirely due to their nature, but rather due to the temperature. Because the kingdom is so cold, their body’s essentially in a low power state, as they subconsciously are in a brumation state, but also aren’t reptilian enough to actually go into it, so they’re just stuck like this. And they specifically have this problem because Pitaya is from a tropical and more fiery climate, and Dark Sapote inherited biology for a warmer climate, not a colder one. No one is really aware that this is the reason Dark Sapote is like this, not even Dark Sapote themself
In higher temperatures, they become more active and energetic, and in addition they become more powerful. But because they live where their power is dampened pretty much all the time, they don’t have the best grasp on their full power. If they were to go to say, Dragon’s Valley, they’d likely unleash mayhem with their uncontrollable power. Not quite sure how they haven’t encountered this problem yet, but whatever
They grew up in the Dark Cacao Kingdom simply because they liked Dark Cacao more than Pitaya, but they kind of all unwittingly created this giant problem for Dark Sapote, leaving them in this state
Anyways, on to the design
So Dark Sapote is a name I’ve had on file for a long time, after I discovered the existence of black sapotes, which is what they’re based on. Black sapotes are a tropical fruit like pitaya, and apparently when ripe, they taste similar to chocolate pudding
Black sapote:
So to look for things to say on their design, I watched the time lapse video Procreate makes, and now I remember, Dark Sapote was hell to design. And if I’m being honest, I think the rough sketch is the best version of them
They were apparently originally going to have horns or a crown of sorts, but I decided against it or it just didn’t work. Side note, but I need to give my characters more accessories, especially in the hair. That’s how they end up looking so plain
Their hair is supposed to be the same between the sketch and the final design, but you can’t really see it with the pose. Apparently I tried other hairstyles that would make it visible but for some reason I decided against them
Their side hair thing is supposed to be from Pitaya, with their side bang things, but I don’t think I executed it super well
The colors on the armor were such a pain, mostly because Dark Sapote has so many dark colors, making them all blend in with each other and the black lineart (I only color it at the end once colors are finalized). That was what made me shelve them for so long, because I couldn’t get them to look right, until one day I came back and was like “yeah good enough” and colored the lines, and then left because I was out at the time
Also the colors themselves aren’t the most appealing. The green and brown come from the fruit itself, but they aren’t the nicest to look at
To be honest, I think Dark Sapote needs another shot at a design. The final product isn’t the worst, but it definitely could have turned out better. And also, I like their character
And yeah, that’s Dark Sapote. If you see a redesign of them later on, don’t be too surprised. But regardless, I hope you can enjoy them in some capacity

SPOILERS if you have not seen the episode of course:
We start off the episode with an Amazo Tech blimp crashing into a building in Metropolis
You don't see a lot of blimps in Metropolis. Gotham is usually the one with a lot of blimps flying around. If you saw the episode on Adult Swim when it premiered on air you'll know that the next episode involved Professor Anthony Ivo and Amazo Tech. Throughout the previous episodes and this one, the Amazo Tech brand is shown to set up next week's episode. After the scene we go to a break in at Stryker's Island (more on that location later) as we see one of the villains for the episode Mist...
and one of his partners...
Rough House who are trying to break out...
Siobhan McDougal. If you know your Superman comics, you'll also know here as Silver Banshee.
Kyle/Mist is a VERY old DC supervillain from the 1940s who first appeared in Adventure Comics #47 (1941) as the arch villain to Starman. Mist's design in the comics is RADICALLY different from the show.
MAwS modernized Mist's design compared to here in these comics panels (W: Alfred Bester, P&I: Jack Burnley, C: Raymond Perry, L: Betty Bentley). In the comic Mist's power allows him to turn his body into a gaseous form thus the name. MAwS uses Mist as someone who can turn himself and objects invisible (lowkey when Mist showed up I was like "is that Luminus from Superman the Animated Series?") Fun fact in the comic, we don't know what Mist's last name is. All we know is that his name is Kyle and in the show that is what Rough House calls him on accident but at least he has a last name, McDougal in MAwS.
Rough House makes his first appearance in Adventures of Superman #544 (1997) (W: Karl Kesel, P: Stuart Immonen, I: José Marzán Jr., C: Glenn Whitmore & Digital Chameleon, L: Albert DeGuzman) where we see him rip open a door with his bear hands as a member of Intergang (more on them later).
Siobhan McDougal aka Silver Banshee makes her first appearance here in Action Comics 595 (cover by John Byrne). In the comics Silver Banshee's powers are a lot different than how MAwS does it. Comics Silver Banshee has the Banshee Curse giving her powers like flight, super strength, a death stare, and of course her signature thing, the Death Wail, a sonic scream that can knock someone into a coma or it outright kills them. The version in the show gives Silver Banshee her signature sound manipulation powers through a mask...
which kind of invokes her comic counterpart's skull face design.
Mist and Rough House break into Stryker's Island to free Mist's sister Silver Banshee (in the comics Mist and Silver Banshee have no familial connection). Stryker's Island makes its first appearance in Superman #9 (1987) (W&P: John Byrne, I: Karl Kesel, C: Tom Ziuko, L: John Costanza) where Joker arrives in Metropolis to challenge Superman. Stryker's Island is supposed to be a stand in for Riker's Island in New York even though there is a Riker's Island in the DC Universe because Metropolis is often a reflection of New York City.
The next Easter egg is the scene after where Lois name drops Waid's Cafe as a reference to...
Mark Waid, one the best writers in the comic book industry. In terms of DC work, you might recognize his writing credit on Flash with artist, Brian Augustyn (we miss you Brian), Kingdom Come with painter, Alex Ross, and Superman Birthright with artist, Leinil Yu (highly recommend checking out all three titles). He's also currently writing for Batman/Superman: Worlds Finest with artist Dan Mora, which I also HIGHLY recommend reading. Fantastic writer, super nice person if you ever meet him at a convention.
Later, Jimmy is heard screaming "back you monsters" and we see some more of the Daily Planet staff...
From left to right its Cat Grant (doing the anime high society lady laugh), who runs the celebrity and gossip side of the paper, Steve Lombard, who reports on sports, and Ronnie Troupe, the investigative journalist on the team. Their names were mentioned in the previous episode after taking Lois, Jimmy, and Clark's credit for the Superman piece.
Cat Grant make her first appearance here in the Adventures of Superman #424 (1987) (W: Marv Wolfman, P: Jerry Ordway, I: Mike Machlan, C: Tom Ziuko, L: John Costanza) as a potential love interest to Clark to shake up the Clark-Lois-Superman dynamic. You might've seen her in the live action CW Supergirl show. Like in MAwS, in the comics Cat does the gossip columns writing for the Daily Planet.
Steve Lombard makes his first appearance in Superman #264 (1973) (W: Cary Bates, P: Curt Swan, I: Murphy Anderson) as a foil to Clark Kent. Steve acts very brash and rude to contrast Clark's mild manner and friendly demeanor. Later iterations of Steve give him the mustache that becomes part of his signature design.
In MAwS, Ronnie Troupe is a gender swap of Ron Troupe in the comics who makes his first appearance in the Adventures of Superman #480 (1991) (this page specifically, W: Jerry Ordway, P: Tom Grummett, I: Denis Rodier, C: Glenn Whitmore, L: Albert DeGuzman). Like his MAwS counterpart, Ron is an investigative journalist and very level headed. He was the first to break the story about Cyborg Superman meeting the then PoTUS, Bill Clinton.
A news report on TV in the Daily Planet shows Bethany Snow of Channel 52 News reporting about the break out in Stryker's Island. The logo for Channel 52 News reminds me very much DC's 2005 logo.
As for Bethany Snow and Channel 52 News, Bethany made her first appearance in the New Teen Titans #22 (1982) (W: Marv Wolfman, P: George Perez, I: Romeo Tanghal, C: Adrienne Roy, L: Ben Oda) as a news reporter and follower of the Brother Blood cult.
Later iterations and retcons had Bethany Snow as just a reporter where she does the Channel 52 news in the back end of DC comic titles in 2013.
Freddie E. Williams II is the artist for these as Channel 52 was way to let readers know what is happening in other DC titles that they might want to check out with other DC characters reporters accompanying Bethany as seen in the promotional art with Vartox, Ambush Bug, and Calendar Man. Obviously MAwS redesigned Bethany Snow but they at least kept her occupation.
A quick one but we see Lois call Clark "Smallville" a nickname that has been used in various media involving Clark and Lois.
After news report on TV, we cut to Siobhan, Kyle, and Rough House in their hide out where they name drop their group name, Intergang.
In the comics and other media, Intergang is a world wide crime syndicate who is supplied with powerful high tech weaponry from the evil New Gods of Apocalypse, if you know your DC universe, that is everyone is Darkseid's circle. Intergang first appeared in Superman's Pal, Jimmy Olsen #133 (1970) created by LEGENDARY artist Jack Kirby.
Here in Forever People #1 (1971) (W&P: Jack Kirby, I: Vince Coletta, L: John Costanza), you can see they have direct contact with Darkseid. Originally led by Morgan Edge, later versions of Intergang had leadership change from Joe Danton to Max Danner. Post-crisis, Intergang is led by Bruno Mannheim (the Intergang boss that I am familiar with), his father Moxie Mannheim would later lead Intergang. Current continuity in DC has Bruno still be the leader of Intergang.
In the episode we learn that MAwS version of Intergang is very small time. Siobhan, Kyle, and Rough House rob convenience stores and make smash and grab runs. But maybe MAwS will move Intergang in the criminal syndicate direction in the future who knows.
After the Intergang scene we cut to Lois, Jimmy and Clark walking up to the front of Stryker's and Jimmy mentions something interesting about convincing the warden to spill on the government's... (read Jimmys quote in the screenshot to complete the sentence)
The term meta-human has its roots in the DC Universe if you did not know! The term was first used here in Invasion #1 (1988) (W: Keith Giffen and Bill Mantlo, P: Todd McFarlane, I: P. Craig Russell, C: Carl Gafford, L: Gaspar Saladino)
In the comic, the Dominators discover that certain humans have what is known as the meta-gene which grants them powers when under a lot of duress and so to test this they rounded up a group of humans and experimented on them with only 6 surviving who gained powers. The Dominators conclude that the human population must be eliminated or there will be a rise in meta-humans on Earth.
How does the government, according to Jimmy, connect to all this. is a possible nod to one of the plot points in Doomsday Clock where the idea that 90% of DC's meta-humans are from the US and they have been engineered by the government. This conspiracy, in the comic is known as the Superman Theory.
This here is one part of the back matter you can read at the end of Doomsday Clock # 5 (2018) (W: Geoff Johns, P&I: Gary Frank, C: Brad Anderson, Back Matter Design: Amie Brockway-Metcalf). Later the trio, specifically Lois, steals the warden's ID badge and were able to access where Siobhan was kept. On the ID the warden's name is Agatha Zorbatos, who's first appearance in the comics was in Batman #23.4 (2013), as the warden of Blackgate Penitentiary in Gotham
Obviously her design in the comic is drastically different from how she looks in the show. The one on your right is from Batman Eternal #4 (2014) (Story: Scott Snyder & James Tynion IV, Script: John Layman, Consulting Writers: Tim Seeley & Ray Fawkes, P: Dustin Nguyen (my favorite comic book artist of all time), I: Derek Fridolfs, C: John Kalisz, L: Rob Leigh).
At the climax of the episode we see more of the alien crystal that Superman encountered last episode from the tech that MAwS Intergang used and it strangely looked familiar. I wouldn't be surprised if the animation team were fans of Neon Genesis Evangelion especially with the way the robots were designed in the first part of episode one and here how the crystal reshapes itself like the angel Ramiel. Also since I'm at my 30 image limit here and I can't post anymore, I also want to point out that the poster that Siobhan has in her cell was a cat with the words "Believe it" over its head I like to believe that is a Naruto reference because the dub has Naruto say "believe it" all the time. I guess I'm gonna be doing the Easter Eggs and references for each episode so expect this to be a weekly thing. I hope you all enjoy my doing this If you made it down here and want to see my first two easter eggs and reference posts for episodes one and two are here and here.

Sooo…I have this thing called “Overclocked Infinite.”
Overclocked Infinite is a form I created for Infy (don’t judge that’s what I call him lmao) that can only be used once, as it’s him shattering the Phantom Ruby to obtain all its power for a short time. Think of it as something similar to a super form, but far more powerful.
Rather than the Phantom Ruby just being on his chest like usual, since he’s using all of its power now (and since it’s the only time he can, due to him shattering it to obtain all its power,) I thought it would be cool to have the shards of the Phantom Ruby orbit around him, with them slowly disappearing one by one as the power drains. (Also they’re enlarged because it’s supposed to signify how much power they have, or something)
I took inspiration from a few things when creating the design for him. First, this Null Space concept art for his colors and overall visual look.
Second, this colored version of prototype Blaze.
And finally, Ultra Sonic, for the ring-type aura around him.
And that’s the basics! Just a fun little idea I’ve had for a while now :)

I tend to get kind of irked whenever I hear people talk at length about how Sonic is a "static character" who "isn't supposed to change" and I think I've finally figured out why that is.
Because the thing is, I actually agree with a lot of what people mean when they say this! Sonic has worked extraordinarily well in games where he doesn't have an arc, and instead inspires other people to be their best selves. He's introduced as someone who's already got himself figured out, so he doesn't need to learn a lot of traditional lessons the way a lot of other characters do.
And I also agree that going out of your way to change his core traits to fit him into a more traditional protagonist box that he wasn't made for is doing him a disservice. I may love Sonic in the movies and Prime, but if I was in charge of writing an official story for the series, I wouldn't have thought to make him this hyperactive blabbermouth who's super open with his feelings. They well-written characters, but they don't tend to capture what makes Sonic unique.
But I think people tend to see all these attempts at giving Sonic an arc where his personality is changed, and come to the conclusion of "he shouldn't have an arc at all because doing so ruins the character." Which is the part that really bothers me.
Yes, Sonic is great when he's the Coolest Guy Ever and is just here to Be Cool and embody the themes of the narrative. Sonic, as a symbol of freedom and self-actualization, has always been inspiring to me.
But symbols are rarely as interesting to me as the people behind them. To say that we shouldn't dedicate time to explore Sonic the Person, and instead only have Sonic the Pedestal, is to say that Sonic is only interesting when we're looking at him from an outsider's perspective, and that there's not much to find if you look any closer.
Because "what you see is what you get," right? He's cool because he doesn't try to make himself cool, there's no image he's trying to maintain.
Except... there kind of is?? Sonic used to be very pointed about not being vulnerable around others. If he truly didn't care about his image or what other people thought of him, then he should have no issue crying in front of them. He should be willing to open up to Amy when she asks him what's wrong after Shadow seemingly died. But he doesn't cry in front of other people. He doesn't confide in Amy.
Even Heroes, the game where Sonic boasts about the Power of Teamwork(TM), shows us that he's not really used to relying on other people. He's starting to let himself be a little more genuine, but it's not really coming naturally to him.
Knuckles: Boy, talk about cutting it close... Sonic: Eeh, not really. Knuckles: Come on, tell me you weren't scared? If it wasn't for us, you wouldn't have had a chance. Sonic: Well, maybe you're right. Thanks, Knuckles!
Sonic briefly looks away when admitting that Knuckles was right, and Knuckles is visibly thrown off when Sonic responds with a real "thank you." This is clearly a new step for him. So new, in fact, that even afterwards he still instinctively tries to take on Neo Metal Sonic by himself. Tails and Knuckles have to tell him that they're going with him instead of it naturally being assumed, and Sonic seems a little taken aback by it.
So, no, Sonic doesn't need to learn to trust his friends, and he isn't resistant to people helping him, but he can still be overly independent and doesn't seem to know when to ask for help. Even during his "static character who doesn't have an arc" era, he was still growing and changing, it just wasn't very noticeable. And that's more or less fine, but... honestly, even this era of games got a little stuck on how to balance him being unflappable with being, y'know. A person. Who reacts negatively when bad things happen to him.
I mean, all the potential character development he could've had as a result of Shadow's death was ripped away the second they decided to not make a big deal about his return. How does Sonic handle not being able to save everyone? If he managed to accept Shadow's death in full, how does Shadow coming "back to life" affect him? We'll never know, because Heroes was stuck between a rock and a hard place when it came to Shadow's character (needing to acknowledge that he died without making the game unapproachable to newcomers) and it affected Sonic's in turn.
Even Sonic X, for all the praise it gets on how it wrote Sonic (much of which I agree with wholeheartedly), still never quite got us into his head long enough to address his flaws or his deeper, less flattering feelings. So of course people are going to equate him "being static" with "being well-written," because some of his best characterization comes from stories that aren't really about him.
But we've had so many opportunities to change that, and we're still not getting it. Generations doesn't use its time travel setup as a means to explore the ways he's grown over the years. Lost World teaches him a lesson that he should've already known, so it falls flat. Forces locks him up for six months, and beyond all rational thought, it barely affects him at all.
Frontiers is certainly... better, but it ends with such an "and then everything was solved and went back to normal!" tone, it's hard to say he really changed by the end. We didn't even get to see Sonic mourn Sage the way he did with Shadow. Or with Emerl. Or Cosmo.
What is with this new era we've reached where we seem to want to put Sonic through intense physical and emotional pain, and then have him walk out of it completely fine? I don't think that's what being a static character even means?? There's supposed to be a limit to how much you can put a character through before something changes them, and Sonic has easily breached it at this point.
The closest thing to what I want here is in the IDW comics, and I won't lie, they've got me pretty invested. But Sonic himself is just different enough in his speech patterns and overall demeanor for it to feel off. It's not enough to ruin the series for me, but it's yet another example for people to point to and say, "look! They got his personality wrong again! Surely this is because they're making him have a character arc and he's supposed to be incapable of those!"
I don't even want him to have that much development per game or anything. It's just... can we not have room for it? If we're already putting him through these harrowing situations, is it really so much to ask that he be affected by them? Must it ALWAYS be about someone else? Shouldn't he get to be a person sometimes, too?
Sonic can be a static character and have it work. But I really think that, as he was originally written, he has a lot more range than he's given credit for. He doesn't need to be changed into someone else in order to be capable of development, and giving him an arc is not a problem in itself. It's just that most of the time, he's rewritten to make a pre-existing arc work, rather than being given one that works with him as he already is.

I'm sorry that nobody knows how to write you#(I am NOT immune to this btw. A though on skills (Sonic and the others)
One thing I don't like about Sonic is that all character seems to have about the same skills and downfalls, and this make them less unique. Maybe an approach in the right direction was made in Sonic adventure 2, but that was all.
Considering that I only like few characters from Sonic (In short a little more than all those appeared in Sonic Prime, who luckily were all characters I already like), I only will talk about them and not even all of them.
Sonic and Shadow
(the twins.... not literally, but they truly have twins vibe)
I think they should keep their iconic skills. High speed, spindash etc. With a slight difference though. Surely the spindash and all related rolling into a ball thing should be identical, no difference.
In particular circumstance and for short amount of time thy both can reach the speed of light.
About speed, I like to think Shadow is sligtly slower than Sonic without his shoes. Anyway those two are the fastest and the difference between them and all the rest should be noticeable.
Physical strenght and stamina favour Sonic. Shadow is tied to his inibitor rings. Without them he is way stronger than Sonic but his stamina decreases fast. Also Shadow can't hold the super transformation as long as Sonic.
Shadow, unlike Sonic, can swim, but I don't see him having a particular tecnique.
He also can perform chaos control better and easily and has full control of the chaos power. Sonic can do chaos control, but it looks diffcult when he does that.
Being left handed can also be one of his advantages. Most people are right handed so unless you aren't a trained warrior (see Knuckles), Shadow attacks may be more unpredictable.
Tails
I really like his flight abilities thanks to his two tails mutation (do you know that the two tails mutation is real?)
Although annoying in game, I appreciate the fact Tails can't fly forever. Foxed aren't supposed to fly after all. But he can fly long enough to make his level easier to finish. He also can swim but he lacks tecnique.
I like that in SA2 he uses mechanics. But I like more if he uses custom made weapons.
I don't like Tails being as fast as Sonic or using the spin dash. Foxes don't have a mantle and quills. They're like dogs who have a convergent evolution toward cats, so they tend to have typical cat skills rather than dogs skills. I like when he attacks his enemies with his two tails, that look strong.
Knuckles
I don't see Knuckles as particularly fast, but he is strong and a skilled warrior enough to nullyfy Shadow's left handed advantages and to force him to fight without inibitor rings. He can also free climb easily. I remember in Sonic OVA he just fly just like Goku or Superman, but I don't like that as I'm not fond on his gliding ability. He also can swim, and unlike Shadow and Tails he has a tecnique. Like overall a warrior but pretty much well trained in overall all sports. Of course he should not be able to roll up. But he has quills, he should be able to use them in some creative way.
Amy Rose
I like her skills actually. The Piko Piko Hammer is a nice touch. Plus she can summon it like magical girls can sum their sceptre, as seen in Sonic X. One thing she should do more is rolling up and the spin dash. She should not be able to do all the attack Sonic and Shadow can do, but she is still a hedgehog so she should be able to roll up.
She can swim, too. Not as good as Knuckles but better than Tails and Shadow.
The tarot card doesn't count. This is a think she likes to do for fun, but I don't see it as a part of her fighting skills.
Rouge
One thing is obvious, Rouge arms and legs look really thick, like Knuckles', and this does means she is muscular, so she is a good fighter. Plus she is a natural flyer, being a bat. This does means she is supposed to be able to fly as long as you want, unlike Tails and this gives her the ability to go everywhere, without limits. Plus she can swim as well as Knuckles.
Eggman
I think, since he is a human, our specie, it was somewhat easy to enhance the typical human skill, intelligence, but at the same time is harder to run with creativity in other skills. Suspension of belief is harder when we are familiar with something. All Eggman skills come from brain indeeed and his mechanics is very creative and dangerous. Eggman is able to swim (apparently only Sonic can't swim), but mostly he floats. He possess quite a good strenght and athletic abilities considering how out of shape he is.

i mean the sonic characters don’t solve their problems through pure strength alone. (i’m looking through game lenses first hold on.)
Racing is more of their thing. they tend to talk the other down from fighting as much as possible with 50/50 chance of it working. some of them need power boosts to beat their opponents. (super forms) sonic has to adapt to new mechanics despite being the fastest thing alive. (some spinoffs, and frontiers)
some prefer not to use their full power to keep things fair (shadow restrains himself from using his doom powers against sonic in sxsg)
comics, well it depends on the writer right? and who they want to win. even if the execution can be a hit or miss. 🤔 sonic has really scary abilities during the early era but he can’t use it all the time, cause it’s a gag or it poses risk to him and by the time it was late preboot, these abilities weren’t seen. (idk about you, but archie sonic fans do tend to pull up the early panels displaying his powers.)
in-universe reasons, some of the examples i listed above can apply here too….
the metal virus affected shadow’s capability in battle. silver is strong but he realized he had to flip dark enerjak’s strength to win. surge needed the dynamo wisp cage to be a threat. tails has to rely on his smarts and knowledge of machinery to also win. eggman is physically strong…it just happens that his opponents are super-powered mobians so ofc he’s gotta rely on his machinery. some need to hold back their power for obvious reasons. talking down someone has worked before on numerous occasions. talking someone into powering down from their most strongest…
now with shadow, he’s skilled with chaos energy and is as formidable as sonic. has the alien dna and chaos energy born into him. but knuckles is the guardian of the master emerald for a reason, he punched the emeralds out of super sonic who is supposed to be invincible and not only that he is heavily connected to his ancestry who deals with the chaos emeralds their whole lives. and ofc his base strength alone is no fucking joke.
i can keep going but i hope what i say makes sense enough.
i guess... saying the sonic games are somehow combat averse is kind of blatantly untrue though. no they arent 😭 it just fits the story or gameplay sometimes to have a specific scene not be a direct fight. all the examples you are saying are things that can change the circumstances of a battle they dont really invalidate like. feats. because most people take those into account... i feel like you are approaching this from the wrong angle
#generally when i engage in vsbattle discussion i try not to do the pulling up a bunch of numerical stats thing#because that can get annoying#knuckles can beat shadow because he can hold his own against sonic. shadow is slower than sonic and his other powers dont give him enough#-of an edge against knuckles strength and fighting ability. easy

Black Arms Sonic AU [Info Post]
Okay, the story is in it's rough stages but here's what I got so far:
Black Doom discuises himself as a Mobian (Doleon) and ends up finding Sonic, who had recently met Tails after the bullies. But before Tails could follow him Sonic suddenly vanishes without a trace.
Doleon had taken an interest in the blue hedgehog, seeing that his power was similar to Project Shadow. And knowing that Gerald was conspiring against him, he needed to find a way to prevent the Black Comet from being destroyed, along with a way to match Shadow in sheer power.
And the blue hedgehog felt like the perfect key to his idea.
So he manages to get ahold of Sonic without anyone noticing, bringing him to the Black Comet. And unfortunately the paralysis gas keeps Sonic docile and unable to escape.
With his limited knowledge in human technology, Doom attempts to experiment on Sonic and try to use his own DNA on the kid. He kept trying to monitor his vitals so he wouldn't die on him and made sure he couldn't escape by scarring his legs.
Eventually, Doom made a breakthrough by establishing the hivemind's connection to him, and it was all up to some careful manipulation and gaslighting to bring Sonic to their side.
More DNA is brought in, and Sonic's coat darkens as red pigment fades in, the DNA molding itself in the form of claws and spikes at his quills, arms, hands, and feet. The information from the hivemind also let Doom scew Sonic's old memories back on Earth to make him forget who he's supposed to be.
And once the finalization is complete and he proves stable... Doom brings Sonic out and begins to train him in the way of the black arms. Sonic was molded into a super weapon for the alien race, rivaling the king's own son in sheer power.
It wasn't until the final test that proved just how capable he was.
The Black Arms initiated their invasion the moment Doom sensed Shadow being reawakened from stasis. He brought Sonic back to Earth and told him everything he needed to know about Shadow and how to bring him to his side.
Shadow's first encounter with Sonic... Was a reverse situation from the original SA2 encounter. Shadow himself was startled by Sonic, who seemed to find joy in taunting and playing with the ebony hedgehog and his broken memories. However, Shadow resisted and fled the scene before the cops caught up with him.
Shadow then met Amy, Tails, and Knuckles who were trying to both stop the Black Arms invasion and figure out what was going on (Knuckles was after the shard pieces, along with Rouge). Amy was very quick to remind Shadow of his actual memories and he decided to align himself with their cause, bringing Rouge and Eggman to their side as the new team teamed up to stop the Black Arms.
The rest is... Similar to Shadow 05 in how everything goes down. Once the black comet was destroyed, only Sonic and Eclipse survived the disaster, hiding out on Earth ever since.
The two "brothers" eventually drifted apart and went their seperate ways, plotting their own form of revenge.
Extra details of the AU I wanted to fit in but didn't know how:
Amy and Tails are actually the sibling duo. Tails ended up finding Amy in danger and rescued her, still inspired by Sonic and his bravery. At this point he had no idea where the blue hedgehog had gone but hoped to find him again eventually (He never did)
Sonic CD, 2, 3, and Adventure did not happen. At least... Not normally. Tails became the main character after Sonic's departure land he brought along Amy from 3 and over. Knuckles wasn't met until Adventure when Eggman unleashed Chaos.
Sonic does not know Tails. His memory of the fox he saved is completely wiped.
Sonic does not consider Eclipse his brother. At all. Eclipse doesn't think the same thing about him.
Sonic's name was actually kept the same, however he ocassionally goes by "Aeron" which sound's similar to "Doleon" in a way
Shadow and Sonic are very intense rivals/enemies. Sonic is known to be incredibly relentless, even willing to team up with Eggman to make Shadow's life a living nightmare.
Sonic doesn't have any recollection of his old life, only general but vague knowledge. His personality is somewhat intact, though.
Sonic actually has a lot of powers to his new self. As seen here.

I need you to know before the IDW comics were a thing, (but after the Archie comics got canned,) I made an oc that was supposed to be, like, Scourge, but with just the stuff I liked & not the stuff I didn't. I was looking at the cast & noticing 1. Not a lotta girls in this cast & 2. Every female Sonic has a very similar body type, meanwhile the dudes get to occasionally look like Big or Storm.
So, I made Scathe. She's a lime green tiger (pretty sure I settled on her being pink before she was greened) & she got a shard of the Master Emerald stuck in her when it broke in SA2. She's not the only character this happened to in this lil' au -- this was just a problem in the world. People got pricked, & it was changing folks & giving them powers. It's just that she got pricked by a bigger piece that didn't burn out like everyone else's.
I had some lore -- she was still the kid of a family that was well off, but she ran with the wrong crowds & got disowned when she got jail time for something her & her cronies did. She ended up being the only one to take the fall & ended up losing her teen years behind bars. Then she's coming out & just not knowing what the fuck to do in the world -- you got no people; ya got no money; ya never learned any real skills when you were outside of jail 'cause you assumed you were gonna be a silver spoon baby for the rest of your life -- you have nowhere to go & no clue who to be & you're just an adult, now, in this world you don't really like. & Then you get fucking super powers.
Yeah, so I gave her powers based off the magnetic ring you get that slorps up rings, so she had an electric motif, but I decided it wasn't magnetic & more was about energy & chaos -- made sense to me. She's just making like. Lightning-flavored chaos beams she can throw out.
Yeah, anyways, she is not using that shit for good at all -- fuck the world. I think her general arc was going to be going from violently lashing out at anything & everything to something less... That.... Like. Plan was to have her still be villain-esque or not a good guy, just slowly lose some of the raw anger & aggression as she figured herself & her life out -- type of character who's still stealing from banks in Gotham, but a Batman type can occasionally team up with if there's some larger threat & then go back to being enemies with tomorrow, ya know?
Anyways. Then Surge was a character & I felt like I had a fucking wiretap in my room. Not that the characters are visually or even narratively similar, just that it's weird that they also picked out a lime green wamen with lighting shit going on.
THIS IS SO FUCKING AWESOME IF YOU HAVE IMAGES E-MAIL ME IMMMMMEDIATELY

We rejoin Sonic midway through a case of “Dammit these people are idiots, but I have to save them from certain doom anyway”. He’s in prison right now, because back in the 90s you could have cops being portrayed as an obstacle and arresting protagonists arrested like that
This leads us to the introduction of the guy who I’d class as the main villain on the Special Zone in StC, Lord Sidewinder. We don’t know he’s a villain yet, but the generic cop guy certainly isn’t happy to see him
Yeah, this guy is probably swell lol. But I’m glad they didn’t drag on the Sonic being arrested bit, since Sonic’s next scene in this story is considerably more interesting
But before that, we cut back to the Chaotix, who are at least feeling some guilt about not filling Sonic in on their situation. Given how they rushed off to join the fight last time without telling Sonic who's who, I’d say that in the same vein it’s more that they were in too much of a rush than they intentionally didn’t tell him, but it’s still good they’re like “Welp, it’s our fault Sonic’s in jail” I do like that their immediate response is just to have Omni-Viewer teleport him out of jail again. But there’s plot armour stopping Omni from doing that
Have an establishing shot of Lord Sidewinder’s residence and team. I like Lightmare best because she’s the girl one
Oh boy, I wonder who that could be!
Yes! YESSSSS! It’s Sonic meets Super Sonic time!!
Let me tell you, me and the one other kid I knew who read these comics laughed at this sequence for a long time back when this first came out. Super Sonic was just standing there and was able to blow up the whole building! The sheer amount of power this guy has is off the charts! I’m not a power-scaler by any means, it’s just not an area of fandom I’m interested in discussing, but StC Super Sonic is the horse I’d back if I was one
Not only did he blow up the building without moving, but he did so while protecting everyone in it with a power shield at the same time, so he can destroy them each slowly. This is how you make a villain with impossible odds to beat! This is how you turn “Sonic can’t lose” on its head to make an insanely compelling conflict!!
Lightmare voices that she had doubts about this whole thing (more on that in another story), but now we get Sidewinder’s flunkies being set up to show off how powerful Super Sonic is. Also, I guess this is more of a Jekyll & Hyde thing, but we’ll have two nickels for each time we come across a character in the Special Zone who’s basically the Hulk. It’s funny that the one who is directly supposed to be a Hulk parody isn’t the green one tho
This is what we actually came to see - Sonic vs Super Sonic
Lord Sidewinder going :0 in the background
Just have the entire last page as it is. I love the sequence of Bio-Hazard barely being an annoyance that Super Sonic shrugs off, before returning his attention to Sonic. We’re all set for their showdown next time and this story is worth more than the price of admission to me! :D
