How do you think the adult trio would have been had they a chance to grow up in a normal stable family? Are their behaviors (mostly) a product of nature or nurture?

This is actually a very good question. I honestly believe that, inmost cases, nurture wins against nature. I’ll try to give my analysis ofeach case. Now, I just read a little about psychology for fun (and because I loveit), I’m not an expert and this is how I see things. It doesn’t mean, at all,that I am right.

Hisoka

The whole fandom agrees that something happened to Hisoka and verylikely made him into what he is today, but how much of this is connectedto the present is anyone’s guess. I think I mentioned how I noticed that Machi thought that Hisoka doesn’t talk about the “past” (being specific about it) and how hedisplays a desire to be in control of his own life, to the point he doesn’t open up to people (which seems to be more related to his personality ratherthan lifestyle). Also, note that Hisoka is part of the main characters (not the core ones, but important enough) and yet, nothing about his past has everbeen shown or mentioned. Even with the Spiders we at least had a briefflashback of Chrollo and some explanation about the Meteor City, which can give us some ideas of how things were for those who grew up there. Heck, Togashi has told us the background of characters that are not as much part of the main plot.

With Hisoka? Nope, nada, zero. The guy may as well have fallen from thesky with his Nen activated and searching for an opponent.

It keeps going back to Hisoka’s past. Contrary to Pariston, whoseems to be a born sociopath (perhaps even a complete psychopath), this makes me think that something seems to have pushed Hisoka. Even we can’t besure of how much of what he has displayed is genuine or a façade that he keeps around others (we have rarely seen him by himself) or the levels of disordershe seems (or most certainly) has.

Is it all connected to his past? We have no means of knowing. Hehas an intense bloodthirst and is always seeking opponents. Hey, maybe he was into fighting since he was a child anyway. He seems uninterested in formingbonds with people. Has he been betrayed at some point? Has he experienced atraumatic loss? We don’t know.

However, I do think most (if not all of it) is connected tosome event, if only for how twisted Hisoka is. So, it follows that if his life hadbeen different, if he had had a safe and stable environment, he would not bethe same he is today.

Would he still be into fighting? Possibly. I, at least, find it hard to imagine Hisoka not into fighting, though he wouldn’t be that much of a sadist (even if it remained his “call”) and might have emotional bonds with others regardless of their strength (he wouldn’t judge people based on this). Depending on his “family” and other events, he might have been a man who would actually use his Nen in order to help others. 

Illumi

Definitely yes. No question about it. We just have to look at thewhole Zoldyck family and Illumi’s own behavior and words in several occasions.For crying out loud, Killua was chained and whipped when he returned home (itdoesn’t matter if he broke the chains and his pain tolerance is high, thegesture alone is disturbing by its very nature and the insight it gives us tothe workings of the Zoldyck as a family does not paint them in a positivelight). Besides, with Illumi being the eldest, it is very possible his trainingwas even more severe due to being only child for a while and future head of thefamily, until Silva and Kikyo decided Killua would be the better option.

Just for a note, see the rest of the Zoldyck children as well… Alluka hasbeen caged almost all her life (and later she asked Killua if everyone elsewould be happier if she was dead basically), Milluki is just as focused in the familygoals and wants to please/impress his parents (he once seemed afraid of hisfather. Respect is something, fear is another), while appearing to almost neverleave the mansion. Kalluto shares a few similarities with Illumi and is also asadist that enjoys prolonging a fight just for his own amusement… While the Zoldycksclaim to love each other and maybe do/believe so, we cannot look at them andsay they aren’t toxic people (except Killua and Alluka, who got to break thecycle and escape) or that those children are examples of a healthy upbringing.

Does it all connect to the family’s “teachings”? Yes. And the fact theyare assassins doesn’t excuse any of this. If Togashi wanted, he could have madethe Zoldycks to be as dangerous as they are while having a far more stable/lovingrelationship between each other. There is a reason why this isn’t the case.

Illumi reached a point when being… Well, the way he is, is already hisnature and for what we can see, it is entirely connected to his family and whathe has been taught or rather, molded into being. I don’t even think thereis any hope for him. If you take away the “teachings” and “assassin business”,there is nothing left in Illumi. Whoever he was or whoever he could have beenis lost forever, there is only this walking, breathing result of years of training.And we all got a glimpse that he may not be as stable as we came to believe…

If Killua hadn’t been strongenough to break away from them, he might end up the same or even worse than his“big brother”.

So, if his family was different, then he would have been different. Forone, his displays of “affection” would not be tainted by the obsession withcontrol and his love for his siblings would be genuine. Somecharacteristics of his might remain (since we know nothing of how he was orcould have been), but he would be a far more stable person and even if he wasto become an assassin, he would have more morals. He surely wouldn’t be againstKillua choosing another path in life (hell, he might even want somethingbetter for his little brother) or having friends.

 Chrollo

For some reason, I always feel that Chrollo ends up standing somewherebetween the extremes that Hisoka and Illumi represent and the same applieshere, though it is more about how (little) we know of Chrollo’s life and evenhis ending goals. It is more than we know regarding Hisoka, but not as much as we know of Illumi. While writing this, I found myself oscillating between “yes”and “no”. Out of the three of them, Chrollo at times ends up being the hardestto analyze depending on the subject…

Is Chrollo a born sociopath who is using the unfairness of society as anexcuse to achieve his own personal goals and act upon his own bloodthirst orhas this unfairness pushed him into taking what he considers a necessary attitudedue to lack of any other option?

I think, in the end, there is something seriously wrong withChrollo. The things he has done are far too extreme… Perhaps he is even moretwisted than Hisoka or Illumi.

We know he started the Phantom Troupe but while we can guess the main reasonsfor that, we have yet to actually hear them and also what Chrollo hopesto ultimately achieve with his actions (due to his behavior, it seems improbablehe doesn’t have anything like that and is truly “just” a thief. In a way, itseems to be that this is a means towards a bigger end). We know he came fromMeteor City… And what has been shown of it is pretty depressing. That is not aplace that seems to offer chances of a good life, being basically a “junkyard city”and people there don’t even have official records of existence. It is a way ofsaying they there are also unwanted trash. So, we can assume that Chrollo’slife has not been easy.  

 And with everything we know of Chrollo directly connected to the Spider, it’shard to dissociate one from the other. What has turned him into what he istoday exactly?

Like Hisoka and Illumi, Chrollo has no care for human beings and evensaid he sees no difference between them and a puppet but does care for theother members of the Spider. And when returning home, the Troupe faced theChimera Ants, so the city is also the only other thing that matters for them ina personal level. Regardless of the sort of place that is, it is their home.Other than that, we don’t know of Chrollo’s story, parents or childhood.All we have are our own ideas and the options are many.

Honestly, just living in the Meteor City is not quite enough explanationfor his whole behavior, though: Many people go through harsh lives, awful situations,abuse or torture (be emotional, physical or mental) and do not end up like him. Hell, from what we’ve seen, Leorio came from a poorbackground, saw his friend die (when he could have been saved, just to twistthe knife) and is actually the opposite of Chrollo, someone who wants to save lives.

I’m not saying the misery of living in the Meteor City played nopart in who Chrollo is, let alone dismissing how horrible it must have been!Poverty is hell. Having to chose between buying food and paying the bills,being unable to afford medicine, those are hell enough, imagine how it musthave been in a city like that then! And sometimes, people get to the limit whenthey see no way out but to go to an extreme that they wouldn’t go otherwise.

 What I mean here is that, for what Chrollo has displayed, there may verywell be something more that made him turn into someone who torturesothers with such lack of empathy or remorse. For all we know, he may haveexperienced a traumatic event or loss, perhaps not very different from Leorio’s.

I think most, if not all of the situation, end up related to the creationof the Spider but I’m unsure of how much of it is connected to Chrollo’s personality. Even people from a loving, stable and healthy environment can end up twisted and this is not the parents’ (or anyone’s) fault. You can searchin the lives for the trigger that made them into sadistic killers and you won’tfind anything. Some people are just born psychopaths.

With Illumi and Hisoka is easier to be sure due to the motivations they display, their own desires and attitudes and the information we have onthem. Chrollo’s motivations are intertwined with the Spider, so much that he hasstated that it and what it represents are above his own life. This last detailmakes it hard to consider he is using the Spider as an excuse for hisown goals, but… What if he is lying and manipulating the others? It’s not easyto tell.

Now, personally speaking, I think we need more information about him asa person and of his life before the creation of the Spider to be completelysure… Would he have been better if the circumstances of his life weredifferent? It is very possible. Would he have been a criminal anyway, if onlywith some differences? Also possible.

When he talks about the Spider, I lean towards the first option… But thereare some moments, such as when Gon asked him how he could kill people who havenothing to do with him and how Senritsu reacted to his heartbeat that make meseriously lean towards the second one…

so...Hisoka with kids...yeah

it's not that he doesn't like kids (not like that, let's...not go there, please), but babies sort of scare him because if they have a problem or something, they can't outright say it

also, it's harder for him to entertain them

Hisoka doesn't really think about even having a partner, let alone kids

but, if he does find someone who accepts and wants to be with him and all his flaws and hobbies and he starts liking and trusting them...

he might be a lot more willing to have you by his side and actually start thinking about you and your needs and wants, not only his

it starts as a really fun relationship full of teasing, laughter and new adventures and experiences

and even as it gets more serious, the transition can barely be felt, courtesy of Hisoka making things a lot easier and lighthearted because after all, it's only natural and nothing to stress yourselves over

being in an actual relationship with Hisoka would mean quite a few months to years and you'd still be quite in the dark, especially about his past, but if you actually ask him about it and show him that he can trust you, he'll tell you bits and pieces and leave you to piece them together (he knows you're smart enough to do it and likes treating it like a game of sorts)

the idea of marriage and/or kids won't really cross his mind, simply because he never thought that he'd ever get to this point and also because they're not that important to him?

but if you ask him about marriage and/or kids, he'd joke about it and probably act as if he'll do it if you want to, but knowing what sort of a person he is, he'd be against it if you insisted and probably put some distance between you

but now that you talked about these things, the more he thinks about it, the more the way he sees you and your relationship is going to subtly start changing

Hisoka would see a wedding dress shop while he's in town with business and just stop and stare at the different designs and patterns, trying to imagine you in one of them and taking pictures of the ones he thought you might look best in

or the moment when you two are on an evening stroll and you two walk past a young couple with a baby in a stroller and the baby just keeps staring at you and you wave at it and smile cutely?

Hisoka's heart just skips a beat because that was pretty adorable and the baby smiled while the parents looked at the two of you and smiled (knowingly) as well

he definitely pays a lot more attention when there are kids near you just to see the cute interactions

and then he just imagines what it would be like if you had your own kid

no matter what, he won't tell you about those thoughts or the fact that the idea scares him because he's got so much blood on his hands and he's used to destroying, not creating and nurturing

you probably shouldn't bring up the fact that he zones out a lot more often because he's just going to get into a teasing and defensive mood and you're most probably going to irritate him easily

the key is to let him get used to the idea and try to act like you usually do or try to entertain him as he would usually do for you when you're in a sour mood

even if he doesn't say it, Hisoka appreciates the effort and the fact that you're not insisting on broaching the subject

tell him that you trust him - that's it, he's found his answer

despite all his fears and hesitation, he's got you and you trust him and most importantly, you can depend on one another when things get tough

you've been together for some time, you get along well enough for the most part and even during arguments, unless it's something serious which takes a few days to resolve, it usually takes a few hours at best

so, how does it go? First of all, he knows that you'd probably be a great parent and that you want a family, so he's going to tell you that he wants to try something new in the bedroom

Hisoka's going to hide your birth control and the condoms and yeah, he's kind of a dick for that, but when you ask him about them and he only smiles at you innocently, you realise what he wants

like I said, you have had this discussion before and are aware of what sort of a person Hisoka is, so you don't say anything because he's probably nervous (he really is, but he masks it pretty damn well) and don't want him to back out

despite the sultry tone of his voice and his words when he suggested you trying something new, he's a lot more gentle and you're almost sure that he told you that he loves you before you fell asleep

and would you look at that, a few weeks later you're buying a pregnancy test and have to go to the doctor and you're dragging Hisoka who smirks all the while

you'll have him take a shower after his fights at Heaven's Arena because the smell of blood makes you sick and when he teased you once by not doing it (because he's a dick), he had to take care of you and he's learnt his lesson (won't admit that the way your skin lost a bit of its natural colour so fast and you got up to run to the bathroom gave him quite a scare)

while he jokes around and tries to act like he usually does, he is vigilant and on the lookout for potential threats since he knows he's managed to make quite the number of enemies throughout the years, not that there's much that could go past him and get to you

even as your stomach grows, Hisoka loves carrying you around, much to your complaints about being heavy and the embarrassment of being carried as if you're helpless (Hisoka just wants to feel needed and helpful after seeing what he's putting your body through)

his arms will always wind up over you and your stomach when you two sleep and the baby loves the heat they provide, if their constant kicking is anything to go by

indulges in some of your cravings because as weird as the combinations are, the taste is interesting (he's gonna keep eating some of these things even after the baby is born, much to your disgust)

he's out of town when you go into labour and he doesn't get to answer his phone immediately, but the panic that fills him when he sees the high number of missed calls is terrifying and it transforms into bloodlust as he tries to get back as quickly as possible while everyone with half a gram of brain gets out of his way

when he gets to the hospital, trying to look as if he's calm (the sweat and blood on his body and clothes, plus his dishevelled hair and smeared makeup definitely give him away and scare the living daylights out of whoever sees him storming past them - they don't even try to stop him since his bloodlust keeps them at bay), he sees you with a little bundle in your arms, smiling down at it

and then you look up at him and just smile so widely, despite the obvious exhaustion and his appearance and Hisoka just... stops and stares because you're perfect to him and for him

you quietly beckon him closer when his bloodlust is completely gone, leaving him slightly tired now that the adrenaline rush is starting to fade away as well, and his eyes slightly widen when they stop on the little baby cradled in your arms

literally so small and fragile and so soft-looking and it's half of him and he wants to keep it safe, along with you

he's completely silent as you scoot over so he can sit next to you and keep the baby close to the both of you, the back of one of his fingers (which he quickly cleaned with some wet wipes on your bedside table) gently going over the soft skin of the baby's cheek

it's sleeping soundly and Hisoka just slowly caresses one of their little hands, feeling his breath hitch when the baby catches one of his fingers and grips it

it's a weird and new feeling for both of you and you can only look at Hisoka so adoringly when you see how gentle he is with his kid

it's cute, so, so cute

as the kid grows, he's definitely teaching them about Nen because he wants his kid to be strong and he will spar with them (when they grow up some more and with your supervision because you're not letting your baby get hurt since Hisoka can go overboard sometimes)

that being said, he'll also teach them some magic tricks and keep them close with Bungee Gum so they can't run off just like that and get into trouble

he loves entertaining you both and taking you to different places because the amazed and curious look in his baby's eyes whenever they see something different is one of the cutest things

Illumi is the designated uncle, which he doesn't like and refuses to acknowledge (but he softens up when it comes to the kid and gives them some pretty useful gifts on their birthdays)

pretty sure that the Main Four would be weirded out when they found out about Hisoka having a partner and a kid, but when they see how protective and sinister Hisoka is when he feels as if his family is threatened, they probably get even more scared

until you hit him upside the head and tell him to play nice

they all like you and the kid and you actually stay in contact with them, with Killua and Gon acting like older brothers, while Kurapika and Leorio are the uncles

one last thing: the baby's first word(s) was a little jumbled mess of Bungee Gum

Hisoka laughed and you facepalmed

A Hunter’s Prey: Doors and Hotel Rooms

I suddenly realized how all of this might look to an outsider. I, a fully grown adult, was talking with a child about the whereabouts of his best friend. He seemed so young and hopeful yet I could see some anguish deep within his eyes. It's the same look Illumi gives me when I ask about his past. It's the heartbroken look a mother gets when discussing an unborn child. 

Gon’s facial expressions scrunch up the rest of his face. “You’re friends with Illumi? Why?” This child’s hand was firmly on the door with the look that he'd shut in on my face if I said anything wrong. 

“Well,” I sigh looking down at the ring on my finger. “It’s a long, long story. Let’s just say that I had no way to not be his friend.”

“Are you being manipulated?” asked the green-haired boy. His eyes were squinted why he pursed his lips into a frown. “Do you need help?”

A smile crossed my face before I shook my head. “No I am completely alright. I’m here to see you.”

“I know that,” said Gon. “Are you going to give any information back to Illumi about Killua.”

A chuckle came from my lips. The sky had become a deep mauve before turning to night. Sea air held a misty feel around the small house. “As much as I would love to, he’s gone on a business trip far away. He told me that he’s going to be gone for a month at least.”

“Where would he go?”

“He’s with the Phantom Troupe on a mission. Illumi refused to tell me more about it,” I sighed while shifting the backpack. 

“Illumi joined the Phantom Troupe?” shouted the little boy as if this was a huge revelation. How did he know about the Phantom Troupe? Who was this kid? I felt as though I was back in the manor and Illumi was refusing to tell me anything once again. He’d sent me on a mission with so little information that it was going to be a struggle to even survive, let alone, find information about his brother. “Kurapika is going to be so angry. I should try to call him again. Maybe Leorio can tell him.”

Kurapika? Leorio? These names sound so familiar. Where have I heard those names before? No. I read them. They’re in the little book that Illumi had. I pushed the backpack off my back and started rummaging around inside until I felt the hard leather. My hands skimmed the pages until I found those stars. 

“You’re talking about Kurapika and Leorio Paradinight right?”

Gon’s eyes beat down on me as if I was going to attack him. He must be waiting for something dangerous to transpire. “Why do you know them? What’s in that book?”

“Oh,” I exclaim while closing the book. “It’s nothing. Illumi gave it to me before he left. I saw it when I was at the house and looked through. Yours, the other two, and Hisoka’s name were the only ones treated with a little star by them. It seemed harmless enough when I asked. He just said you guys were friends of Killua.”

“Illumi talked about me?” 

“Not really. Just enough to say that you’re Killua’s best friend.”

“I thought Illumi didn’t believe in friends.”

“No. Hisoka’s his friend.”

“Did he tell you that?”

“No. He told me the opposite but he was upset when Hisoka died,” I said nonchalantly while closing up the backpack once again. 

“Hisoka’s dead?” gasped the little boy. “What? How? What happened? How do you know? How did he die?”

I shook my head at the questions before the flashbacks would appear once again. Flashbacks of Shalnark att strung up and bleeding from the swingset or Kortopi’s head sitting next to them. Even the ferocious look Machi gave to me when I had to cut her out of his trap. “Hisoka’s not dead now. He fought with someone in Heaven’s Arena and almost died. Well, he was dead and now he’s not.”

Gon’s face changed to a quizzical look. “So Hisoka isn’t dead.”

“Gon,” called the woman from inside the house. The boy turned to look back inside his abode.“It’s getting late. You still have a lot of school work to do tomorrow. Tell your friend you’ll see them tomorrow.”

He turned back to me before slowly starting to close the door. “I’ll meet you in the marketplace tomorrow. I’m not going to tell you about Killua just yet. He’s my best friend and he’s running from his brother.”

“Oh,” I say while cocking my head to the side. “I didn’t know he was running.”

“I’ll see you tomorrow Y/N,” said the boy as he finished closing the door. I was left in the pale light of the house's interior. My head began pounding at the thoughts that rushed through my brain. This was going to be much harder than I originally thought. 

I turned to go back to the central square of the small island. I‘d hope there would be a hotel that would allow guests. The once crowded, bustling square became desolate in the night. Shop keepers had closed down many hours ago. All that was left were a few empty stalls and a small building on the side. The lights were still on and a sign was hung stating: vacancies.

I walked into the quant building that seemed more like a bed and breakfast rather than a hotel. The front desk person was nowhere to be seen. Instead, there was a sign that read “ring bell for service.” A shiny silver bell was placed next to the sign. 

A single tap was enough to ring throughout the small entrance. A groggy woman stepped through the door. “Want a room?”

“Yes please,” I said while looking for the card Illumi had given me only hours ago. Had it only been hours? Time seemed to move so quickly whenever I wasn’t near my love. 

“How long will you be staying?”

I looked down at the fully black card with gold lettering that read: Illumi Zoldyck. “I’m not sure. Let's start with a week.”

“You’re going to stay here a week?” questioned the lady. A heavy scent of cigarettes filled the air every time she spoke. “No one stays here a week.”

“Okay,” I questioned. Her apathetic attitude threw me off. “Then we’ll say 4 days. Is that much better?”

“It’s your money sweetheart. Not mine. You can do what you want.”

The lady typed on an old computer. She picked up on the other keys that hung behind her in a rack. “Your room is on the second floor to the left. You’ll have to find your own breakfast. Enjoy your stay.”

“Thank you,” I said while taking my card and key from her hand. I climbed the stairs that were only a little further than the front desk. Indented in the key was the number three. Passing doors one and two, a thought ravaged my head. This was the first normal thing I was doing without Illumi. Getting a room and going to sleep as if I was on vacation or a small business trip. 

Loneliness settled deep within me. Freedom was always a prideful thought that pursued my life. Now I was a sad puppy with the hopes that Illumi would return to my side once again. I shook away the insecurities as I arrived at my door. 

The room was quiet. The designer must’ve been someone much older than myself. A quilt was placed on top of the bed to give some pizzazz to the bland space. The white walls were a different shade than the white carpet. 

A sigh left my lips while I flung the bag onto the bed. My body followed soon after. I rubbed my aching temples while my eyes stayed firmly shut. It wasn’t until I noticed a small shine that I fully opened them. The light reflected so beautifully off the diamond ring. “Lumi,” I mumbled while cuddling into the sheets. “What should I do?”

I knew Illumi wouldn’t tell me even if he was here. This was my problem to solve without him. Illumi was such an ass when he wanted to teach me anything. This mission was no exception. Illumi’s the biggest ass that I’ve ever known. But he’s mine. I miss him. 

I need to learn more about Gon before I can continue to tell him about secret information. If I could reverse time, I’d kick myself for giving away information about Hisoka. I could’ve used it as leverage for information with Killua. I’m so stupid. I don’t deserve the Zoldyck name. 

I groaned while finally sitting up in bed. I have to get down to business. If anyone would know the dirt on anyone, it would be the Zoldycks. Sadly, my favorite one was out of the picture. Kalluto should be on the ship too. Killua wouldn’t answer the phone. This leaves one Zoldyck sibling to call: Milluki.

 queen is back and I’m so freaking happy <3

‘annoyed’ nothing you say is annoying ok, I’m actually just really relieved and happy that I’m helping in any way at all. Also you listen to my rambling all the time and you supported me with my anxiety (you have no idea how much our convos helped after I first saw a doctor about it and was feeling really confused about what to do) so ‘what did I do to deserve you’ is probably what I should be saying to you.

Tbh when things are as serious as you’ve described then you’re definitely not overreacting. Like I said before, I’m always ready to listen/talk when you need to. And you don’t have to stress about replies; I honestly don’t mind at all as long as you’re ok.

Also, good news and bad news:

Bad news- A bit after I sent the last message mom apparently found out about Tumblr and decided that I probably shouldn’t get an account here because of all the NSFW content. I get why she’s worried so I guess I won’t be getting an account here for a while.

Good news- HOWEVER, I was chatting with someone on ao3 and they asked if we could move our convo somewhere else. They recommended something called Discord so I got an account there. If you’ve never heard of Discord it’s basically a voice and text chat system usually used by gamers, but it seems to be pretty popular among non-gamers too. PMing is possible there :D (The only flaw is that you can’t send very long messages, so you have to send multiple short ones, which is a bit annoying…but otherwise it’s pretty neat so maybe we can try it if you’re ok with that?)

Yep it was one of the grossest things that ever happened to me OTL I’m still swimming but I’m taking a long break right now- a break that started because my little sister broke her toe and we were basically stuck at home taking care of her (the pool is a bit far for me to go on my own so if mom’s stuck at home so am I), and then got longer because the pool’s old and some things had to be ‘fixed’, and then got even longer because my coach is getting married (just reread that and realized that I sound super annoyed, I’m actually not, I have no problem with my coach getting married XD). I’ll probably start again around next month, though :)

Oooh are you a comic fan??? I haven’t read any superhero comics because there seem to be so many AUs(?)/different timelines so trying to figure out where to start is really confusing, plus I actually sorta prefer manga/manhwa art styles (not that wester comics are bad- a lot of them have really good art too, I just personally prefer the manga/manhwa styles (especially for the panels). Also the ecchi-ish costumes/anatomy for almost every single female superhero gets a bit ridiculous sometimes lol). Some of them seem really fun, though, and I’d like to try them out someday…

I’m considering teaching myself to animate just to make those animatics XD

(Also, random thing: it’s Chuseok over here (basically like the Korean version of Thanksgiving, I guess?) and usually, people recieve money from older relatives during holidays like this in Korea. I got about 80 dollars (50 from my maternal grandparents, 10 from my paternal grandfather and 20 from my uncle) so I’m debating on what to spend it on: It’s either a tablet so I can learn how to do digital art (I’m thinking about polishing my drawing skills for a while and then making a webcomic. My parents support this so they’re willing to pay a little extra for a tablet) or a ukulele (I like the piano but I realized a while ago that it’d be great to have an instrument that I can carry around, so I did some research and the ukulele seems good. I really like the sound so I’m willing to put some effort into learning it). Idk which one I should choose, though. Technically the tablet should be my priority but I also like the ukulele…

Yeah, she’s alive :D but apparently Kaneki is now 'dead’ (though I don’t think he is really, if Ishida kills him off now (after all the stuff with Hide? All the character development Ken hasn’t gotten yet? When he still hasn’t talked about anything with Shuu or Hinami or even Akira?) and gives us a new protagonist or something I might finally rage-quit this series.

Or not, since with all the Touken stuff and Kaneki being sorta insensitive ever since he became the OEK…maybe a new protagonist is what we need?). I was liking all the parallels with Arima in the first series until this, because it was just…um. I think my main problem with the whole thing is the freakng PACING because it just feels so clunky and awkward. This is probably one of those chapters that will be really good if Ishida somehow manages to connect it with the next chapters and has everything make sense later, but if he doesn’t do it well it’s going to suck forever OTL

At least TG finally confirmed Naki’s death, though. I mean, the ideal situation for me is if he never died in the first place, but at least a confirmed death is better than Ishida suddenly bringing him back to life after that panel with Yamori. And his death scene was handled well. (Now please just tell me that he, Kanae and Hairu aren’t coming back as Kanou-Furuta zombies and I will be semi-satisfied)

Yeah, I’m really excited for OC’s name too…must be something important if they’re keeping it hidden for this long. I guess it’s French (or a word from some other non-English language) since 'Ciel’ is French for 'Sky’…and it probably has a meaning related to the sky since they’re twins. Idk. Maybe it’s the word for 'star’ ('etoile’) since stars are also a big thing in this arc?

But also, I just found a post on tumblr that said Takeshi Obata (DN’s artist) mentioned that Ryuk’s face in canon could just be a mask to hide his true appearance…which means that he could technically still look like that in canon. Watch it if you dare and prepare to weep over all the wasted potential, because now that I read/watch more about it I guess the saddest thing is that it COULD have been great. I could say the same about comic/manga styles. Tbh, I don’t really consider myself a comic fan? When I was a kid, I used to buy the children’s comics to ward off boredom, but never really continued after I got into reading actual books. Black Panther happened to be among those comics and I remembered him when they mentioned T’Challa in CW. I wonder if i still have those old comics somewhere… But yeah, i was pretty excited when they mentioned him XD

That viewing actually sounds amazing… I get the feeling they’d all want to do an in depth analyzation of the characters? (But idk i don’t really know the characters that well) except for Hisoka, who’s probably just schwinging around being creepy per usual. you know what i find scariest about gon?

the fact that this 12 yr old boy from a loving family on a teeny tiny island somewhere on the edge of the world goes to take on one of the deadliest exams to ever have existed, sees people dying left and right and HE DOESNT EVEN BAT A FUCKING EYE

he sees his best friend ripping out somebodys heart with his bare hands, sees hisoka straight up murdering people for absolutely no reason other than that he CAN, and even accepted the death of an applicant in order to steal hisokas badge

hxh teaches us very early on that the hunter universe is a cruel, cruel place where a man’s life is practically worth nothing, and it doesnt surprise that gons friends are absolutely aware of that - killua, who was confronted with murder since he can walk, kurapika, who found the slaughtered corpses of everybody he ever knew, and leorio, who came from such an impoverished region that he had not only witness his friend but very likely a lot of other people die before his very eyes.

but GON - how did all this not effect gon at all? there might be things we do not know about whale island, but everything we saw about his home was peace and a loving upbringing. yes, there was kite killing the kitsuneguma (a scene which also did not exist in the beginning of 2011 of reasons i will never understand) and gon certainly learned one thing or two about the circle of life while roaming the woods - but isnt the hunter exam a whole different realm of cruelty?

i remember watching 2011 for the first time - it was half a year before i slumped into the fandom. and the reason it took me so long to connect to this outstanding narrative was because i could not connect to gon - partly because of his motivation for leaving his family and risking his life (which i in hindsight blame the poor first episode of 2011 for), but mostly because i was so disturbed that i didnt see this child freak out witnessing all the murder around him

i think gon, although he radiates with positivety and childlike interest, is a very conflicting character. i feel that his innocent and cute moments often cover up how right kurapika might have been with his assessment why hisoka grew so fond of gon - because that ruthless murderer saw the little boy as someone of his caliber, a like-minded being of sorts. gon shows pity, gon shows care and the will to fight and protect - but only towards certain people, people he seems to divide from those who he is not willing to bestow with the same priviledge following criteria only he seems to know.

i love the gon character, i love how thorough it is written that these traits introduced at the very beginning of the series foreshadow the catastrophy of gon-san. but that boy still scares me

You might not believe this, but I don’t cry while watching anything. I FEEL the pain on the inside and it hurts a lot but I just can’t cry XD like, the closest I got was when I watched the last movie of the Hobbit trilogy and that was only because the Hobbit/LOTR series has been a part of my life since I was tiny and my mom got me to read the books. And even then I didn’t actually cry; my eyes started stinging a bit but no real tears. I also got close while watching Inside Out, which was a little annoying because I didn’t even like the movie that much- I just related to the ending scenes (the family feels) and suddenly got all emotional because of that.

This is gonna make me sound like a heartless monster but I didn’t even cry during the last episodes of Your Lie in April…

(I’m a crybaby in real life, though LOL seriously anything can make the tears start falling to the point where it’s actually kinda frustrating)

Oh, my sister’s too little to watch most anime, but I’ve let her and my cousin (who’s just…seven? Eight? I think?) watch a little bit of Attack on Junior High. They ship Annie/Bertolt and both of them are huge fans of Annie and Mikasa. Also Levi, sorta.

I also let my sister watch the first episode of YoI (I forgot about the naked Viktor scene until it was actually happening but decided that it’s probably ok since it’s nobody makes sexual comments on it and besides, stuff like Doraemon shows 100% nude characters anyway). She didn’t get everything that was going on other than the fact that Yuuri lost and had to go home but Viktor was going to teach him how to skate again, but she liked it a lot and she kept singing ‘History Maker’ non-stop for a LONG time. She’s learning cello right now and she also kept making me show her cello covers of History Maker on youtube.

I’ll (probably) try to take it slow :) and I’ll definitely let you know when I start playing/finish a route!

Tatsuo likes his big bro’s style but thinks the explosions are a bit extreme. Naomi hates both of them. Just, I’m having so much fun imagining the family reunion when Kimblee gets out of jail.

I’ve always wanted to do aesthetic edits but I still don’t quite get how to do them (I don’t have photoshop and it seems you have to pay to download it so I have to figure out how to do it on Gimp (which I do have) or somewhere else…). These are AMAZING! The masquerade is lovely, really reminds me of some sort of fairytale, the Ballerina one is beautiful and has a 'classic’ feel to it, if that makes sense? (Also loving that Hamilton reference, it fits perfectly.)

We’re opposites XD I can’t remember the last time I cried because of something that happened irl, but anime gets to me very easily (however, none of my friends know that and I always feel a bit smug when we’re watching sad movies and they’re bawling their eyes out while I’m unfazed). Aw, that’s actually adorable! I’ve never read or watched LOTR, but I’ve both read and watched The Hobbit ^^  At this point I can’t even say I’m surprised at that… What’d I expect anyway XD (about Your Lie in April)

Speaking of trash, I recently read a book that landed on the top spot of ‘Trashiest books I’ve read in my life’ and I’ve read a lot of books, so that’s not an easy feat. The whole time I was reading it, I was more or less like ‘Is this girl (protagonist) for real?’ Basically, she’s the typical ‘perfect, beautiful’ girl and her character flaw is supposed to be that she’s cold, but since she’s so intelligent and pretty, everyone worships her like a fucking goddess. Of course, she’s also skilled in combat and intrigues everyone, including the hot love interest, his hot friend, their hot enemy and probably all of the other males in the world. Most irritating thing about it? The book ends with the sentence ‘Let’s go home’. Obviously, that sentence has a lot of emotional value to me (Hideeeeee), so seeing it used in a supposedly bitter-sweet scene in such a bad book really makes me irritated. Do not underestimate the number of people you’ll reduce to tears with that sentence!

It’s… it’s still creepy as fuck, even though it’s not directly pedo… Yep, I’ll just return him to the trash can. He belongs there. ((I haven’t even watched the anime XD))

Aw, that’s so cute! Junior High is actually a pretty good anime, though a lot of people I know would disagree with me. My favorite part was probably the one where they summon Levi by throwing a plastic bottle into the paper bin. The only thing I wonder about: Just what were the writers smoking when writing the script? It’s nowhere near as random as Hetalia, but it’s still very random. Worryingly random. I can’t believe I actually spelled that word correctly on my first try. Wow. 

I ship Berthold with happiness. Actually, I ship that whole universe, especially some individuals (ARMIN) with happiness. I ship Annie with Armin more, though. The blond OTP is cute~

Honestly, I’m not exactly in the Kuro fandom, but the manga is intriguing enough for me to keep reading. Also, the art style is really pretty! And some of the arcs are my all time favorites. Not to mention, the little shit that is Ciel has somehow become my adopted son XD The thing Bassy would hate the most about me: I’m allergic to cats. I get a rash and start sneezing when near them. It’s gotten better in the last few years, but I’m still weary near them. Not to mention, getting red and itchy all over as a kid hasn’t really made me develop much liking towards the furballs. 

Well, what about the X-Men timeline? He appears there as well, right? I mean, I haven’t watched those movies, but I hope he’s alive there. I hope. 

We’d be the duo everyone is scared of, because we probably blow the lab up on a daily basis. You and Moblit have to take away the explosives XD Levi would (seemingly) hate me even more than Hange, cause I’m full 5cm taller than her, which makes me 15cm taller than him. Wow. He’s tiny XD And that just made me realize Armin and I would have that cute couple height difference, only I’d be the taller one :P I’m one of those people who are convinced puberty does wonders to him, though. Seriously, just google ‘Older Armin’

You should hear some of the shit I ask at times...  I hope you find a good way to deal with anger soon ^^ The only thing with my answer is that I rarely get angry, I mostly get frustrated. I’d recommend drawing as a way to express feelings. Bring out the red colors and murder that paper XD

Aah, I’m so glad you like them! I was really satisfied (ha) with them, since they were done in a rush ^^ Most of them were born from me finding one pic and thinking ‘I want an AU based on this pic’. For the masquerade, it was fans and ballroom, ballerina History has its eyes on you and the shoes.

I mostly make my own playlists, and the ones I have right now have a lot of Ed Sheeran, a shitton of soundtracks, a few idol songs and probably more remixes than it would be considered healthy.  Also, while looking at my playlist to answer this, I realized what I liked in a song: The beat.  Which actually explains why I always seem to prefer remixes more than the original song and why I’m a sucker for Woodkid songs, especially Run Boy Run and Iron.  Also, I adore soundtracks. I’m content listening to just those, especially if they’re fantasy or medieval XD

I get my pictures from Pinterest! A lot of artsy pics are uploaded there, so it’s easy to find what I’m looking for ^^  I hope you’ll start making your own edits soon! I’d definitely love to see how that’d turn out ^^
