Saying I love you

While Stolas isn't able to tell Blitz directly yet; he also doesn't correct Blitz saying that Stolas loves him.

They're arguing at the time, and he could definitely have been a petty bitch. Split hairs telling Blitz that that's not what he said.

But Stolas' basically says 'yes your correct that told you I love you. And if that's your reason for not believing me, I'll forgive you for the yelling, and roleplay smeg'

'Like sure, tell me whatever reason you'd have to struggle to get this very simple, and obvious fact through your think skull?'

He just wants to know why Blitz can understand that he said as 'I love you', but still not believe a word of it.

Because Stolas knows he's not been even a little bit subtle about showing his love for Blitz.

But honestly Stolas struggling to tell the people he loves in words makes so much sense.

When he was neglected and alone the majority of his childhood.

And hit for showing basic respect.

Paimon is not the sort of dad putting his kid to bed with a bedtime story, and a 'I love you'.

Neither is Mr 'don't get excited on your birthday, because it makes you a pain to handle' Butler.

But Stolas is the sort to tuck his little girl up with a story, and make her feel loved. Even if he's bad at saying it.

I think a lot of us grew up with parents that couldn't say this, because violence and neglect were such a big part of their lifes growing up.

And it's hard to model behaviour if you never see it.

It's honestly amazing how well a 19 year old did at breaking the cycle, showing his daughter that he loves her.

Even if she's confused right now, because she doesn't understand he can love more than just one person. That love isn't finite.

But Blitz and Stolas kinda are the two reactions to generational abuse I've seen in my family and SO' family. (And an bunch others but I'm trying to keep this neat lol).

Mine when Blitz's rout, with a conscious trained effort being used to tell the kids they are loved. It's replaced our goodbyes. (Didn't always match behaviour. But braking the cycle is hard, and they did try).

SO's family went the Stolas' rout, when love is seldom said, but show in lots of actions. Normally with 'care' filling in for it if it ever needs to be said at all.

It mostly gets said one, and assumed to be true till further notice. Which I do think might trip Stolitz up later on.

And makes me wonder if this is one of the things tripping Via up now.

That because it was never said she assumed alot of big things. Like her dad and mum must loving eachother, because that's what parents are meant to do.

That because it's only ever her dad who's shown her love; but she was wrong about such a fundamental thing, that 'he at somepoint must have loved Stella'; she could be wrong about that too.

And because her dad the one changing her status quo, by asked for the divorce, and leaving; Via can't shake the thought that could of changed his mind about her as well. (Even if she's wrong basically every part of that).

Question of the day:

Have you ever noticed that Stolas never SAID "I love you" directly to someone?

Show love through actions? Absolutely. In a flawed way, sure, but still, he showed just how much he values Blitzø and Octavia. He's willing to give up his own happiness for them.

But he hasn't really voiced his love in a direct way.

At most he said "I care" or "I think so very highly of you" towards Blitzø, when he gave him the Asmodean Crystal. And we all know how much damage his (and Blitzø)'s communication issues ruined everything.

And with Via, we know he looked out for her constantly, and spent a lot of quality time with her before everything went to heck after Stolas' affair with Blitzø.

And even considering just how much Stolas cares for her, he never said "I love you" to his own daughter. He definitely gave her hugs, pet names and a normal life, but never those three words were heard.

Until in "Sinsmas".

Right when Via cut ties with him, because he couldn't be fully sincere with her about everything.

After 6x06, any ideas on upcoming episodes?

Yeah I kind of answered here but I'll give a more specific breakdown for episodes 7-8 a shot:

I go back and forth whether episode 7 will pick up in the closet seconds after the betrayal or if it will jump forward a bit (like by a few minutes or even a day)

Either way I think once they are out of the closet, June will yell at and confront Nick and he won't do a good job defending himself or he won't even try. Or she will be completely heartbroken and Nick will try to explain himself but it's too little too late. If they are still at Serena's and Serena is there, I could see Serena saying something like "so you didn't come back for Nick?" and that kind of sets Nick off some more especially if June admits she would rather him die than keep the plan from working or would rather him die than the women. Basically just bad bad bad bad vibes fighting, or just stonewalling(?) each other like the beginning of season 3 where things are tense after she doesn't escape

June will ask what will happen to the women, and maybe she will work with Lawrence and Aunt Lydia to try and at least save Janine. Maybe she will ask Nick to intervene in some way. Or maybe in some twist, Bell keeps Janine safe by pulling rank since she's his favorite. Regardless, we'll see the guardians infiltrating the jezebels and arresting/removing the women. And Janine will somehow end up back at the Red Center or in some kind of custody that connects her to the rebellion

Serena will be invigorated to prove June wrong and will push for the fertility center in NB or something else about what Gilead will look like for women and Wharton will support her

Serena will have some sort of speech thing where we'll meet D'Arcy Carden's character finally

Either Nick or Lawrence takes June back to the Mayday camp. If this is the case and June has to wait until night in NB to be safely moved, I can see the "in Gilead you have to look out for yourself" talk to be to Lawrence and/or June. Either June continues to press Nick until she leaves, or Lawrence tells Nick that he'll end up on the wall now because of him. If it's not to June or Lawrence, it could be Rose who picks up on Nick's mood, or Wharton finds a dejected Nick and when Nick says he has no one and has to look out for himself, Wharton tells Nick that he has his family.

June goes back to the Mayday base and has to explain what happened. I imagine she is angry with her description and Moira picks up on how heartbroken she is. They have the conversation where Moira admits she would fall for a commander too (which doesn't make sense since Nick was a driver when June met him).

There are a lot of I told you so's and blame because obviously that Mayday group is not supportive

Please for the love of god I hope June admits to Luke she almost went to Paris with Nick and that's she's in love with him. I think Luke will be hurt but have an understanding reaction, which will make June appreciate the "stability" he offers.

As a note, in the main trailer June says that they will get all of their friends who hate Gilead to work together. The montage shows Lawrence, Luke, Moira, Rita, and Janine. So Nick will firmly be on Gilead's side episodes 7-8 and possibly part of 9. Serena too will be working to reform Gilead not break it.

I know there was a supposed leak that there is an Eye in the Mayday camp, so I could see that being a plot which makes viewers think of Nick differently as well. Maybe he helps Wharton spy on the rebellion for some other reason and uses that as an excuse to close the trade routes or do something else.

But even if the eye in Mayday doesn't happen, I think Wharton will use Nick's mental state and dependency as a way to exact what he wants in NB. This will lead to either Rita getting trapped there, her family unable to come in, or her sister getting hurt or killed

This pushes Rita to join the resistance (I think the scene of her in the trailer is her going to Lawrence's house). Lawrence will start working with the rebellion out of NB and get a briefcase of explosives or poison from Tuello. I think his "Serena is about to become queen of Gilead" speech is either to the Mayday base if he drops June off or to the small group of allies he has in NB.

Wharton asks Nick to be his best man, Rose comes back in town for the wedding. Nick and Rose share some kind of scene together about their relationship/baby

Lawrence and Aunt Lydia I imagine are on thin ice for whatever they do to help Janine.

Naomi and Serena's dynamic goes back to Naomi sucking up to Serena but maybe with a bit more layers

Somehow D'Arcy Carden's character and the Mayday group get in touch. Mayday makes handmaids uniforms and lots of knives for June in Moira to go back in. We'll have the "Are you ready to go back?" conversation between June and Moira.

Together they infiltrate the wedding. I think there are multi stages to this plan. Like passing out the knives but not killing anybody, or Rita poisons the cake but it's a red herring so the handmaids can go on their killing spree afterwards

Once they are married, Wharton makes a comment to Serena about getting a Handmaid for their future kids, takes away the idea about the library or for the women that she envisioned, tells her to go to her room, something that triggers her and hits her ego and makes her realize that he sucks and they fight

The cliffhanger of the episode will either be the handmaids on the run after killing or about to start their killing spree

TEA GODDAMN WHAT ARE YOU WORKING ON ON BLENDER

Seeing this question, I guess it make sense I haven't show anyone yet. Well to make it simple, I am working on a game for an end project for my school. Basically a game mostly inspired by a carnival, dead by daylights, some indie horror games with cartoon characters and my classroom bad jokes.

I made a post a few months back, asking people what ingredients would they added into the soup. And those who responded, are the theme of the map I am working on. And as for their suggestion credit, I request their oc so I can model a tiny version of them to hide in the map for an easter egg.

I finished the too much salt from @theblackcubeofdarkness. And I took inspiration from mine, salt mine ish.

this map is mostly parkour with jump pads since the jumping mechanic doesn't work in code nor in unity. I had to code a jump pad and turn off the jump mechanic for it to work. But it just make it more better and more fun in the end after testing the jumping pad on unity.

I am currently planning on working on the carrot map. And it @speadrunner no idea about their oc but I'll figure something out

Ah, thank you for the ask! Lovely surprise. <3 I am so sorry this took me one business year to answer. Life caught me off guard for a minute there. Anyway. Here we go!

13: What interests/hobbies would they try and get the other into? Would they succeed or not?

I think my favorite newer headcanon about Denmark is that he's afraid of heights, so I can see Norway continuously attempting to get him to go on mountain hikes with him, and usually failing. The only time he's succeeded is around an anniversary, but they never get far before Denmark can't handle it anymore. Pretty much anything requiring long-term patience, Norway will try to show Denmark with varying degrees of success. I think maybe knitting (basics and only in the winter because that makes sense) and reading would be the winners. Hobbies that Denmark would try to get Norway into... I honestly feel like Denmark has stupid niche hobbies, like collecting stamps or coins from around the world that aren't made anymore. Norway doesn't quite get it, and is a little annoyed that he has the patience for that but not to learn to knit a whole sweater? 😅 Denmark also gardens, and is sometimes successful in getting Norway to join him. He also loves to bake. I think I've mentioned this elsewhere before, that it calms him down and grounds him. He mostly has that one to himself.

16: What would they do to surprise one another? This sorta turned more into love language, my bad.

Denmark is a doer. I also feel like he's good at reading people, specifically those he cares a lot about. So when he knows that Norway is stressed or upset, he'll clean the whole house or bring him food so he doesn't have to think about it. He knows when to be annoying to distract, or to back off if he values his life. On the other side of that, I think that Norway doesn't try to surprise Denmark much, so it doesn't really take that much to surprise him. 😅 He could literally just hand him flowers that he picked off the side of the road on a whim and it would surprise Denmark. When he's actually trying, though, he'll do things that he knows Denmark appreciates. And definitely spontaneous cuddles (or what Norway would consider a cuddle).

25: Try and think of either 3 silly or angsty headcanons for them as a couple? Depending on the dynamic of the ship, could be anything at all. If you cant think of 3, thats fine.

2 angsty headcanons:

when they fight, they fight. Big blowout fights, throwing all their past mistakes into each other's faces until one of them leaves. Both of them are stubborn enough that it takes them longer than even Sweden and Finland to recover.

While I feel like, most of the time, they've learned to balance and deal with each other's opposite-ness, there are times in which it is not great. Norway can be emotionally distant and I feel that Denmark has anxiety. So there are definitely times in which their relationship falls into the "unstable" category; times in which Denmark adamantly believes that Norway no longer loves him, and Norway isn't positive (still, to this day) how to convince him otherwise and get him out of his head. [And this often leads to the fighting headcanon.]

1 silly(?) headcanon:

Every once in a while, Norway gets it right when Denmark is having a hard time. I imagine rough nights where everything is going wrong in Denmark's head, so Norway will go to the kitchen and start baking. Naturally, Den will worry about something burning or Nor messing up a recipe and will come downstairs "to watch". He'll inevitably end up taking over, and Norway will pretend to be offended, but he isn't. And he'll sit at the counter and ask questions, talk to Denmark, help wash the dishes. And by the time all the baking and cleaning is done, Denmark isn't as in his head anymore. They have a quiet moment together, before going to bed at 4a and sleeping until noon.

X-Comics Weekly Roundup

Hey folks, trying something new here. The way my creativity works is like the weather. Often it's cloudy and I don't feel inspiration, but the flipside of that is a lovely day - then it just pours out of me. Well, the sun is shining.

I post whatever interests me thrice a day and I always review the flagship X-Men books, except this week there isn't one. I need to write something and feel like reviewing, so I'm going to do mini reviews of all the X books that dropped this week. Two paragraphs or three per book. Way less if I'm feeling cynical and can think of a one liner/joke. If people like it, I'll make a habit of it. Spoilers for all of them, of course. To me, my X-books!

NYX #10

I have conflicting feelings about NYX. The Hivemind wrap up this premature final issue about as admirably as can be expected, tying up loose plot threads. The Mojo hi/bye feels abrupt, but that's unavoidable when your book gets cancelled and a crossover runs through it. Each issue has had something interesting to say or show, and using all-brain Alleyne's power of common sense and communication to rally all corners of NYX in solidarity (plus Doop) to fight a big bad who sees people as units feels appropriate. The fight is whatever but it doesn't really matter. It's intentionally atypical. They win through people power and sapphic love. Sobunar has a mobile phone too! Good for them, I wonder who they call.

They win and cheer but someone's not laughing. It's fucking cousin Bilal being an obnoxious pest and calling Ms Marvel out. She unapologetically addresses him as Kamala Khan and he's stunned. Dude changes his tune by coldly advising her to never tell her parents, as it would break their hearts. It's a lot to fit into one issue, but after tying off loose ends it segues into the Kamala show ahead of her 5 Giant-Size X-Men one shots.

It's a sensible and bold ending under the circumstances, and even takes a breath to fit a 'should I tell my family?' scene with a single sentence from David and Sophie - succinctly pouring their years of secrecy and experiences into a few words. NYX took some pretty big swings and felt like the loving continuance of Krakoa's story and characters in a new world. It was really starting to cook but the time constraints are visible. NYX needed and deserved more time. I want more time with it. I trust the Hivemind with the Kamala nostalgia tour in Giant-Size X-Men History, but in a mostly drab line NYX's colour and community will be missed. For me at least, it's going to drag the curve down. I'm still hungry, and that's not on the writers. Morlocks! Cuckoos! Queers! Ideology! Arakki! Synch! Fauna! Kiden! Hellion! NYX (the clubhouse thing!) Dante (probably - we know jack shit.) A nibble is not enough and a thousand boos to Marvel's play it safe publishing practices. I appreciate the genuine efforts to go wide and include all these underrepresented things so much. I'm glad it happened but I'm wistful about what could have been.

WOLVERINE AND KITTY PRYDE #1

I think I missed the solicits for this one lol. I had no idea they dug up Claremont to write about moments in between the Ogun arc - ninjas, Japan, Kitty and Logan, Yakuza, feudalism, samurai, and a shitload of angst. It deals with the aftermath of Ogun possessing Kitty and turning her into a killing machine. She's horribly traumatized so Logan is 'helping' her with a gruelling 'training' regime. She's not enjoying it even a little bit until she saves a kid from ninjas and gets over it. I LOVE how Logan is explicitly ignoring everyone's wishes and wearing traditional Japanese garb (I think? With Claremont who fucking knows.) He sounds like a maniac weeb and basically usurps her father to his face unapologetically. Even Yukio is like 'duuuude..' It's Sensei Logan at his most ridiculous - and THAT is saying something.

Aside from the complete lack of sexualisation, it's a very Claremont book. The purple prose is quaint - even restrained and the dialogue pops. The hybridised art style definitely suits the mood while reining in Claremont's usual excesses. His pedigree from his 16 year tenure has afforded him a lot of latitude in the past. Too much. It's not explicit but I feel like someone is telling him no. Kitty is drawn as a rake thin prepubescent next to Logan's squat brutishness and Carmen's middle aged banker vibes. The women don't get a lot to do or say, but for a 2025 Claremont #1 it's worth a look if you like the characters. The narrator should shout at the characters. Maybe next issue.

Can we just not discuss Xavier for a while pls?

Carmen Pryde gets shit on even further, sandbagging the reader with fond memories of Xavier then switching it around to stating how much of a manipulative bastard he is. I enjoy him speaking his pain and not minimising how abnormal this is - tying it in to Exceptional X-Men thematically - but his impotent bitterness at having no say over his 14 year old daughter is heart-rending. Xavier and Logan are like uncaring self-justifying Gods ignoring the hatred and agency of lesser men. Astride the narrative and the world making things happen while the bozos watch from the sidelines if they're lucky. Kitty is in the lesser pantheon, denied agency and childhood while living constant danger, but still special compared to her father.

WEAPON X-MEN #3

ROGUE: THE SAVAGE LAND #4

Didn't take long to go from rejecting X-Men completely to being on multiple teams. Shocking.

Yeah I don't have a lot to say about this one, as it's Deadpool and Wolverine plus Cable fighting Nazi robots and not much else. Chamber and Thunderbird are wasted, with the latter regressing from his Krakoan arc then spending the issue getting beaten up off panel. Chamber shoots a fireball I think? I don't know why they're here, they should have just cloned Logan twice. I swear the book was about something else in the first two issues, but it's not. Cable basically kidnapped everyone except Proudstar, who they met in Latveria about to attack DOOM by himself or something. If you like gruff masculine violence and a thin plot with Deadpool pedantically lampshading the low effort, then this is your jam. No judgement, but it's not for me. The name is a bit weird too. Logan and Wade are products of Weapon X, chamber infiltrated them briefly and got a new body, but Cable and Thunderbird? No association I know of.

People seem to be enjoying this romp, but I just can't be bothered. I love Magneto but he's not at his best here. It's Rogue's story, as it's meant to be, and I don't feel like it's adding much to the original than a fresh coat of paint and a vague, slow Zaladane God plot. I know it's cynical, but remixed nostalgia doesn't excite me easily. I keep an open mind but this, the Giant-Size one shots, the Emma Frost upcoming set in the past, Wolverine and Kitty Pryde, etc. Marvel is the House of Ideas and it'd be good to see some new ones, you know? New ideas. I'm not really a webhead fan - the X-Men is my shit - but Ultimate Spider-Man #15 dropped this week and it's full to the brim with new ideas.

Maybe it's not fair to compare it to one of the best, if not the best, Marvel ongoings right now, but is this really the best we can do? I feel like these kinds of projects should be a victory lap when the current line is humming. Something special instead of one of many old stories shined up. I'm sure plenty of folks are digging it, but I can't help but look at the entire line. Don't get me wrong adjectiveless and Uncanny look like they might be kicking into gear, but we're a year and two crossovers into the reboot and there's not much there.

ASTONISHING X-MEN INFINITY COMICS

Came out last week but I have been following it. It's not really about the Krakoan diaspora and the labour market right now. It was, and the workers realised that fucking Murray was the enemy. Yay! Then Banshee the cop stopped them getting his ass. Boo! The narrative has veered off into a bit of a holding pattern until the next thing happens, but there was a partial Gen X reunion and Skin is in Banshee's castle just chilling. I'll let you know if it picks up again.

That's the week that was in X-Comics. Overall, pretty dull. It feels like there's double digit books out each week so the low number and average quality this week left me dissatisfied. NYX was a bright spot, but it just got cancelled. I've been reading the 1963 X-Men run, Bendis' Uncanny X-Men, an Ultimate Spider-Man re-read to process new information, and working on an X-Men event title prediction machine. I enjoyed doing this column - with less commitment and research required than for a full review. Hope you enjoyed reading it. ❤️

I think about Azula shooters often and their common refrain of "if Azula hadn't had a mental breakdown, she would've won" and I'm here to tell you that no, she wouldn't have.

There is no universe in which Azula was winning that fight with Zuko (or Katara, for that matter).

Azula spent so much of Book 2 being built up as this deadly terrifying force against whom the heroes are badly outmatched that it can be difficult to catch exactly how quickly Zuko is advancing.

Back up a bit to Book One. For the fearsome exiled crown prince of the Fire Nation, Zuko's not that impressive a firebender. He's not bad by any stretch, and he's able to lay the untrained Sokka and Katara flat pretty easily. Then he gets in the ring with Aang, who is an airbending master, and the difference between a regular bender and a master becomes apparent when Aang literally puts his ass to bed:

People have attributed this to the fact that no one's fought an airbender in 100 years, but I think it's also worth noting that Aang (a 12 year old from a pacifist nation) has probably never fought anyone before. Like, ever. And yet the second Aang thinks "okay, I'll attack back", the fight's over.

Zuko's got the same genetic predisposition for firebending talent that Azula does, yet it never seems to manifest because of his mental blocks. At the beginning of the series, he's already so beat down that all he really has is conviction, pride, and anger, so even with training from Iroh (the firebending master, thank you very much), he struggles. Yet throughout Book 2, when he has no time to train because he's on the run, he actually seems to advance faster. The fact that his bending is literally tied to his character arc (as his morals become tangled and he has to fight off aforementioned mental blocks) is pretty brilliant. Like, by the time of the Crossroads of Destiny, Zuko getting his ass handed to him by Aang is a pretty consistent feature of the show--he just can't match wits with him.

Hell, at the beginning of the series, he and Iroh (again: the actual firebending master) launch a combined power surface-to-air attack...which Aang casually swats away into a nearby ice wall. Come the Crossroads of Destiny, however, and Zuko by himself launches this bigass fireball that blows through Aang's defenses.

Zuko advances so quickly that it's scary. That prodigious talent is in him even if it doesn't come through as cleanly as with Azula. Who, by the way, was busy about to get flattened by Katara some few dozen feet away, until Zuko took over and then effectively stalemated her himself.

All of this in retrospect makes it abundantly clear why Zuko's firebending seemed to skyrocket so much when he learned true firebending from the Sun Warriors: it was really the only thing left. He's hard a hard road learning how to fight waterbenders, earthbenders, and airbenders, and even if unconsciously, he's applying the philosophy Iroh taught him about augmenting his bending style with aspects of other styles (see also, the waterbending-like fire whips he uses in the above gif). Once he actually understands fire and how it works, he's got it mastered. Hence why any gap between him and Azula effectively disappears as soon as their next fight--before her friends have betrayed her and her stability goes out the window. There's no real sense of urgency to their fight at the Boiling Rock prison. True, Sokka's presence with the sword helps, but Zuko doesn't look remotely worried and he counters Azula's every attack perfectly.

All her life, Azula only ever learned fire. She was taught by the best people the fire nation can employ, so she knows all the cool tricks, but she's still poisoned by the corrupted firebending practiced in the modern ATLA timeline. Unlike Zuko, who managed to get the basics if nothing else from Iroh (fire comes from the breath, and can be used to survive as much as to kill), Azula has always used fire as a weapon and a means to hurt others. She has no true knowledge of the craft, meaning she's got the same weaknesses as Zhao, she's just better disciplined to the point she can make up for it.

Zuko's victory was a given considering Azula's complete loss of control by the time of Sozin's comet, but even had she been in a perfect mental state, she'd have lost, because in many ways Zuko is simply the better firebender.

And that's the truth of it.

i've been dreaming about genshin a lot lately idk this game has possesed me or smth so i feel like i'm required to write this? Also DAMN im rusty with genshin characters so i apologise profusely for any ooc-ness

XIAO is confused. Why on earth are you wearing his clothes? He isn't opposed to it specifically, but doesn't understand the appeal or the reason why you do it. "My clothes don't fit you properly. What's the point?" he asks, completely straight faced. You smile. "It reminds me of you when you're not with me!" He just scoffs and says he doesn't get your strange habits before moving on with his day. Somehow though, the image of you in his clothes won't leave his mind for the rest of the day. "Dammit..." he mumbles under his breath, barely audible when nobody's around. Don't bring up his pink cheeks in the evening when he comes back to see you, he will not elaborate.

Similarly, NEUVILLETTE is also confused. This must be another human thing that he isn't familiar with. What does wearing their lover's clothes mean to humans? "Oh, I just missed you... your clothes remind me of you, you know?" You explained when he questioned you on the matter. "Oh, I suppose that makes sense. Do you want more items related to myself for when I am absent?" He asks. While you do want to know what items he would bring you, you turn him down. "I like your shirts the most, because they smell like you and feel like your hugs." He doesn't know why exactly, but he has the urge to kiss you all of a sudden.

WRIOTHESLEY feels distracted when he sees you in his clothes from time to time. He gets busy a lot, so the moments he gets to spend with you feel extra special. so, if we take out all of the blatant issues with the season (character assassination, 'resolutions' that create more plotholes than they solve, rushed scenes that make no sense, side plots that go nowhere, raymond vanishing for no reason, etc etc), what are we left with? let's see:

fatphobia (multiple jokes made about 'chubby Diego', when David just looks hydrated and healthy)

SA played for jokes (it's clear that Klaus having sex while possessed is supposed to be funny, but he's being held hostage and forced to do this for money, when we already know he didn't even want his powers back??)

cheating

problematic / borderline problematic age gaps (either way you spin it, either Five is physically 20-26 while Lila is likely mid 40s, or Five is mentally 70s while Lila is mid 40s; Aidan was 19 while filming, and Ritu was 34)

waiting for the actor to come of age before introducing a romance (we already know what some fans can be like over Five/Aidan, this will not have helped; I would be horrified if I found out the show runners had planned a romance arc with a coworked 15 years older than me and then waited for me to turn legal age to execute it)

sexism (i was reluctant to call it that but i also don't know what else to call it - Lila basically had her agency stripped away to become the love interest two men fought over; Steve wanted Five to have a romance and didn't care who with - use Lila simply because she was there)

Presenting: The AU I accidentally created OOPSIE!! 😬😬😬

And yes, I know, it's another Seperation AU, and yes YES, I KNOW, they're a bit overdone at this point, bUT LISTEN!! That's precisely how I ended up in this situation!!!

So there's a lot of Seperation AUs exploring a lot of different scenarios with the turtles being raised, well, seperately. I've seen quite a few of them at this point, and despite whatever the combination is when it comes to turtle + parental figure, I'm sure I'm not the only one who has noticed a pattern of specifically Donnie often being raised by a villain. Which makes sense, he has a tendency to put on this evil-mad-scientist-act in the show, so of course a lot of us want to see what Donnie would actually be like as a proper antagonist. But that just made me think think of the opposite possibility, of Donnie being the singular good guy while his brothers are all bad guys. Mind you, I'm sure SOMEONE must've thought of this concept before me, but I haven't seen it! So here we are!

In this AU (which doesn't have a name so don't ask!) Splinter only managed to yoink Donnie during The Incident™, so he ended up an only child, while Raph, Leo and Mikey were raised by Draxum. I also imagine Draxum being at least a decent dad considering the circumstances, so the kids he raised ended up with pretty similar personalities to what they have in canon.

Because of that we get Hero Donnie who acts all villainous cuz he's a total theaterkid, and Villain Raph, Leo and Mikey who act all heroic cuz they honestly believe they're doing the right thing in literally destroying all of humankind and as a result developed an intense case of main character syndrome.

“i give up.” 

that was honestly the last thing you’d ever expect to hear from your boyfriend. kim mingyu never gave up, and even if - it wasn’t everyday that his ego allowed him to admit to failure.

confused, you looked up from your computer to see what finally managed to defeat him, just to be met with a very pouty, and a very annoyed boyfriend looking at the screen of his own computer, like he had some personal vendetta against it. 

you quickly covered your mouth with your hand to hide the smile forming on your face. you didn’t need mingyu to think you were making fun of him. “weren’t you supposed to work on your exam project?” you asked, doing your best not to burst out laughing. there was just something about that hunk of a six foot two man with killer biceps who was sitting opposite you, and pouting like a five year old that made you cackle. 

“yes, but i have to use a spreadsheet or whatever to sort out some of the information, and,” he sighed, “i have no idea how to use it.” 

with a loud bang, mingyu’s forehead met the table, which would definitely leave a small bump he’d make you kiss better later. huh, so he really gave up. 

“i don’t think i understand,” you crooked your head at him, pushing yours and his computers away, so you could lean over and place your hand at the nape of his neck. “kim mingyu, one of the best future architects, doesn't know how to use a spreadsheet?” your boyfriend was smart smart, there was no way he didn’t know a couple of formulas to sort out the data.

mingyu groaned loudly, and shook your hand off his neck. “don’t make fun of me baby,” with a whine, he lifted up his head, revealing big shiny puppy eyes, which were practically begging for your help. “as you said, i’m an architect, not a computer science guy!” he exclaimed, his lips turning more and more pouty with each word. 

for a person that loved to make fun of coups and his pout, it didn’t seem like mingyu realised how big of a pouty baby he was himself. 

“i don’t think you need to study computer science to know how to use a spreadsheet, gyu,” you said, and ran your thumb over his jutted out lip. “besides, you study maths and physics, shouldn’t you know how to use this kind of stuff?” 

“if this is your way of making me feel better it’s not working,” mingyu huffed, grabbing your hand in his. “and i really need to figure this out, but i have no idea how. i tried watching tutorials, but i still don’t get it. like, the more i try to understand it the less sense it actually makes,” his breath ghosted your knuckles, as his lips moved against your fingers.  “please tell me you’re an undercover tech guru, so you can do this for me. ” 

you gave mingyu’s hand a little squeeze, and took his computer with your free hand, sliding it over to your side of the table. 

“what are you doing?” he asked, confusion lacing his voice. 

you shook your head in amusement, and squeezed his hand once again, as you transferred all of the necessary data into a new, empty spreadsheet. “i may not be a tech guru as you called it, but it’s a good thing you have a super smart girlfriend,” you murmured, focused on the screen, “that knows the basics of how to use a spreadsheet.” 

you didn't have to look at mingyu to know that his eyes were wide and his mouth open in bewilderment - but it wasn't your fault - it's not like you ever had the opportunity to show off your skills before. besides, mingyu was so in love with you and he was so down bad that you didn't have to do anything special to make him look at you like you just invented a new element.

“it’s really not that hard, you just have to,” the quiet noise of you typing filled your living room for a moment, “you have to know which formals to use.” 

mingyu couldn’t tear his eyes off you. how in the world did he manage to bag a girl that was not only insanely beautiful, but also smart as hell? though he couldn’t see what exactly you were doing (not that he cared about that, he wouldn’t understand any of it anyway), mingyu was sure you were doing magic with those damn spreadsheets. 

“here,” you said with a proud smile a short while later, “is this what you were meant to do?” you turned the computer around for him to see the, yes - perfectly sorted data, just like his professor wanted them to be. 

“you are so fucking hot.” 

mingyu couldn’t help himself. he loved acting like he was the smartest in the room, but holy shit - his girlfriend was a genius, and he’d act all dumb just to have her fill out his spreadsheets. 

“you are literally the most amazing thing ever, baby,” mingyu breathed, still looking at you with disbelief. “so so smart, and so so mine.” 

you snickered, and threw a rolled up napkin at him. “calm down, gyu. that was nothing, seriously.” 

“nothing?!” he exclaimed, offended. “nothing, you say? so why was i struggling with it for the past hours?” 

“if you paid more attention in class i’m sure you’d manage perfectly on your own,” you said, suddenly shy under his stare. the lovesick look was truly overwhelming. “now, will i get something in return?” 

mingyu's expression suddenly seemed to change from pure surprise and admiration to something that pretty much resembled smugness. “what do you have in mind, princess?” he asked, crooking his head at you. 

you smiled and pointed your finger at your lips.

God I have so much to say about Melinoe's characterization, and the fasinating implications about her future arc/the overarching plot of hades 2. I want to make a larger think piece with pictures but for the moment I'm just going to focus on this one specific thread.

In the wake of the Prometheus reveal, she has a slew of convos about his motivations for siding with Chronos, and the gods basically all go: this is his vengeance for us punishing him a tad cruelly. And Nemesis is like, yeah the gods 100% deserve it. But Meli's responds that he must have more motivation than just vengeance, it can't just be that. But when Prometheus explicitly goes, 'I'm doing this because the gods are horrible to humanity and I love humans,' she basically goes, no he must be lying. That motivation is both too pure, but also humans kind of suck why would you care about them?

Mel's humanity hot takes deserve it's own essay (Ms I think Humans should have never gotten fire and are better when they are dead), and I just want to focus on the former for now. She can not comprehend that Prometheus is fighting the gods for noble reasons. It just does not make sense to her. Mel's world is so black and white. She doesn't understand the nuance of the situation, and the thought that the gods might be actually in the wrong doesn't even get close to crossing her mind.

It's a fascinating (and horrifying) result of her upbringing. Of the constant state of war and the very convenient big bad that is Chronos, the evil monster who stole her family. If she accepts that his side isn't completely evil, that they might even be right in some (even many) respects, she would have to grapple with her whole life. Everything she believes would be thrown into question, the literal thing she was training her whole life for.

She can't have Prometheus fighting for a noble cause, because he fights for Chronos whose the Bad Guy tm. But he also can't be fighting for something as simple as vengeance, because that would also mean she would need to really think about what he's angry about. If the punishment was truly so unnecessary cruel.

When talking to Odysseus about Prometheus, when Ody's saying how much he respected him for stealing the fire despite knowing the consequences, Mel says that it was the price to be paid for breaking Olympus's decree. To her, Olympus's rules are sacred and ultimately good. Unquestionably. Prometheus broke the rules with intent, so to her, why would he be so angry at the consequences? Especially if he knew because of his power they were going to happen.

So he must have another reason, some secret machiavellian plan that drives him. Except as I already said, it brings her right back to him doing it for humanity, which she also can't accept. Because that would be admiting that the gods did something wrong to humans. She twists herself into knots to justify her worldview, and it's fascinating! She's so messy I adore her.

Please Supergiant please the final surface boss has to be a human pleeeaaasse (preferably a living one). Or at least have one (or more) show up in some other capacity. Mel needs to come face to face with the other side and have it utterly destroy her worldview.

And/or have (Pan)Dora betray her for Prometheus, that would also be very fun haha.

Now that someone mentioned Connor as a possible love interest I think he will be a good choice. He obviously feels a similar kind of anger at his own father(s) so they could connect thanks to it. And his super hearing and other abilities will make it possible for him to always know when something is wrong with reader. I see reader being in shock that someone wants to be there for them and dismissing any yandere tendencies, toxic traits in favour of keeping Connors attention. Not like they could loose it no matter what they do, Connor is to obsessed and I could see him being dependent on his darling.

a/n: since i am more familiar with the animated series (young justice) for conner kent and i feel your ask is describing his version so i'm basing it off of him! but yes you are so fr in this. i will never not go too far when it comes to rambling, i love long asks hehe.

it was temporarily stated in chapter one that you had your momentary bouts of anger and that in itself already paved its way into conner's heart because of course most would be put off with the rage that he kindles within. you two would really be some sort of match made in heaven— it's like you deeply understand the intensity of his emotion, and you both share that bond nobody could deter; it being anger towards your parent/s and the inability to be accepted or nor noticed/your feelings being invalidated most of the time.

but because of the level of power between you, you being human and him literally being a carbon copy of superman, conner would be incredibly overprotective and possessive of you. and i'm not just implying that he would give anyone within a fifty mile radius a death glare, no, you would literally be glued to his figure all the time.

that means a hand on either your shoulders, your waist, or hips. if you were the shy type, then expect him always holding your hands or wrist. but if you don't mind the weird display of pda, then you'll be lucky enough to have the rights to smother your face in his chest whenever and wherever— sometimes that would even be his go signal to tell anybody off whenever you feel the slightest bit of discomfort.

but other than the advantages of being with him (protective guard dog 24/7), you would pretty much lose every sense of independence nor privacy. which isn't losing much since you already have your mad family on your tail constantly tracking you down and probably a huge bounty on your head— but at least you have your boyfriend with you, right?

with the lack of attention you were given to as a child, one given willingly without the need to ask for is basically a heaven for you. and with his powers? babe, you don't even need to ask for him to take you away to somewhere safer because he could already hear your heartbeats thumping louder and louder.

speaking of superhearing; a way to calm your boyfriend down quickly and efficiently would be laying his head on your chest. you'd probably discover the method later on your relationship, but as much as conner loves to hear your heartbeats from any distance, he loves it all the more when the only barrier that keeps him away from your beating heart would be your skin and your ribcage.

since conner was raised with the lack of physical contact and he's the type to push people away, your physical affection towards him is something he doesn't even know he craves, not until he tastes it for himself.

you wouldn't even feel the need to tell creeps off anymore! because conner is out there intimidating every person who dares to show the slightest bit of romantic intentions towards you.

so really, is it so bad if he wants you all for himself?

you both eventually gain a codependent relationship with each other— but it's not like any of you would leave each other wanting for more, because you both are more than enough for each other.

and conner thinks it's better off if it would only be the two of you in this world.

Idk what to say other than the fact that Logan choosing to stay with Wade is a big fucking deal.

Logan -- THE Wolverine -- has been portrayed on the big screen as the loner, the bad boy, the sole survivor for over 20 goddamn years. If you've watched any of his films, you'd know he is a short-tempered, guarded person who either pushes people away or pulls himself out of people's lives. He doesn't like others to get close to him or get to know him.

Even with the XMen, the people he regards as family, he makes sure they don't get too close. Because he's afraid of losing them. Because he's so ashamed of the monster he thinks he is. Because he knows his PTSD can make him violent, and he doesn't want to take out his anger on people he cares about.

The fact that Logan chooses to stay with Wade is insane because it shows such a growth of character AND it makes narrative sense. It shows that he not only accepts himself for who he is, but finally there's someone else who does too. It shows he's ready to not be alone anymore because Wade is someone he can't lose or scare away.

How can you lose someone if they're essentially immortal and can handle themselves in battle? How do you scare someone away with your violent tendencies (via accident or self-sabotage) when they're just as, or even MORE, violent than you are? How do you stay afraid of your past, when they basically have the same evil science experiment origin story as you do?

So yeah, Logan choosing to stay with Wade is a big fucking deal because this is the one time he allowed himself to be selfish and pick a home instead of a nomadic life or one of isolation. He had the Big Hero Moment of sacrificing himself to save Wade and his universe. And when it not only worked, but they didn't have to DIE for it to work, he didn't walk away this time around after the finale.

He just needed Wade to say he wanted him first, and that's all it took for him to go home. No fight or fuss. No push or pull. Just a silent agreement as they walk back to the apartmemt:

"Yes, of course I'll follow you."

I feel like so much of the silly Mel vs. Viktor discourse when it comes to Jayce would be resolved if people realized that the plot was originally conceived as a basic morality play arc with Mel as the devil on one shoulder and Viktor as the angel on the other for Jayce. You can even see it in some of the early promotion art for the show:

The bones of Jayce's plot in Season 1 is of a good-guy scientist who is tempted by the allure of politics and fame, with a beautiful femme fatale politician seducing him towards power on the one side and his humble 'brotherly' relationship with his scientific partner representing Jayce's 'true self' that he is drawn away from by her machinations. It's a very, very old school, reductive, male-centric plot that literally boils down to "bros before hos".

It even makes sense for S2, with Jayce overcoming his corruption arc in S1 and returning to his "bro" only for his prior sins to tragically launch Viktor's own corruption arc as the Machine Herald only after Jayce has learned his lesson.

And then the Arcane writers and Fortiche subverted this plot. Here's how:

They made all three characters multi-faceted adults with their own agency and motivations. None of them are puppets for the others or, if they are, the time one character spends controlling the choices of another becomes part of that controlling character's sins that must be atoned for (namely, Jayce resurrecting Viktor against his will, Mel manipulating Jayce against his will, Viktor trying to control everyone against their will).

For example, they made Mel complex and interesting and a good person in her own right. Yes, she still has elements of the beauty, danger, and allure of a femme fatale but by making her her own person with her own plot and motives, none of which are malicious (at most, they are self-serving until she changes her views on Hextech and how best to bring peace to Piltover).

Jayce is still torn between Mel and Viktor but he also fully has his own agency, as many are quick to point out. He is often dragged around by the manipulations of others too (Mel yes, but also Marcus, Vi, and Ambessa influence Jayce into bad decisions). Part of his arc is learning how to be true to himself and his own goals after his time spent in the Anomaly future. But, even there, you can still see the bones of the original morality play arc, where the "Good Ending" for Jayce is to go back to his lab partner "bro" and bring both of them back to being true to themselves.

Viktor isn't just helplessly standing by while Jayce ignores him. In fact, Viktor often deliberately cuts Jayce out of his experiments. He doesn't tell Jayce about the Shimmer, or the self-experimentation, or even about Sky's death until after Jayce resurrects him with the Hexcore. Viktor has agency, he has his own goals, and while he frequently chastises Jayce for abandoning their shared dream in what I believe is another hint of the bones of the original morality play plot, he also has his own flaws and his own journey to go on independent of Jayce.

Much of the silly bickering I see between Mel and Viktor fans comes down to who "deserves" Jayce, who is "erased" by not ending up with Jayce, whether or not Mel is manipulative, or if Viktor thinks about Jayce at all when he's busy pursuing his own goals, and I think all of those are absurd arguments.

Mel is manipulative, it is part of the bones of the morality play plot that has her as the antagonist, but they made her so much more than that, that I think it's an active disservice to the character they made to reduce her story down to whether or not she ends up with Jayce. I get why people get hung up on it, because I do believe it's the core of the first draft of her plot, but the richness of her character comes from moving beyond that. Indeed, in S2, the least important part of her character is her relationship to Jayce. She has her own stuff going on.

Whether or not Jayce is a victim of manipulation or whether or not he pursued power for its own sake is also showing an understanding of the basic, core plot they built the richness on top of. Jayce was seduced by Mel's manipulation and he did grasp after power, but they enriched his character by making his goals more noble and more tragic. He's always trying to fight for Viktor, for Hextech, for their shared dream, and for making Piltover a safer, better place, but how he goes about it often makes matters worse until he learns, grows, gains wisdom, and makes terrible mistakes he arguably can never make up for fully.

Jayce also isn't fully a victim of Mel's manipulation, just as she is not fully a mastermind able to control his every move. He breaks away at a certain point and makes his own (poor) decisions in ways that frighten her and make her regret her actions, until he grows enough to recognize the wisdom in her advice (though he later grows again and recognizes the original manipulation, which leads to him breaking up with her in 2.08 because Mel's sins are still there and they are the reason she and Jayce don't have hope for a future together once he realizes he can't trust her because actions have consequences in Arcane).

As for Viktor, he doesn't like Mel. In that, I think we again see the original morality play roots, with him as the angel on the shoulder disliking the devil who is seducing Jayce. But they enriched his character by having him respect Jayce's choices even as he may have privately disapproved of them, and to have his own arc to worry about with his failing health, and his other flaws like intellectual tunnel vision/naiveté, and his tendency to self-isolate in the face of his terminal illness. He has his own stuff going on.

They also subverted the morality play arc to a certain extent by having Viktor stop being the angel in S2. Indeed, the framework more or less falls away entirely and it become Jayce trying to save Viktor from himself, and from Jayce's own mistakes of not destroying the Hexcore, while Mel is busy with her own story of politics, war, and magic.

Anyway, I hope some of this makes sense. But I think if people just recognized that yes, there are elements of Mel as a bad guy in the fabric of the story, of a story where Jayce is in a balancing act between his demons and his angels, but that good writers came in and layered real people over these simplistic plots, made it so Mel's story isn't just about Jayce, Jayce's story isn't just about getting corrupted by a femme fatale, and Viktor's story isn't just about being abandoned by Jayce, and thus elevated the trope beyond its tired-out, simplistic roots, there'd be a lot less wank.

gods forbid you're ever on a quiet quest.

you can't wait to get this over with so you can go back to camp and actually get a decent amount of undisturbed sleep.

the other kids at camp are probably spending their afternoon relaxing, or polishing their weapons, or sitting by the lake, or literally anything that's peaceful. not you and percy.

you're busy getting rid of at least half a dozen monsters.

percy's is in the distance, fighting his way through a couple of monsters. he's a blur of movement and you occasionally hear him curse or make a sound.

you know percy can handle himself. but it doesn't stop you from looking over your shoulder every once in a while, to check on him.

the second time you try to catch a glimpse of percy, it's a mistake.

you feel something sharp sink into your side.

with one swing of your sword you decapitate the monster, but not before his fang breaks off, still stuck in your leg.

'oh fuck.' you mutter as you see blood start to gush out of the wound around the fang.

but there's no time to rest. another monster lashes out at you, raking his claws through your shoulder.

you yell out in pain, getting percy's attention.

you drive your sword through the monster just as percy starts running toward you.

'fuck.' you mutter, looking at your leg.

well, that doesn't look good. you know demigods don't live long. but you would have liked some more time with percy. preferably when you don't have to fight monsters.

'y/n!' yells percy, who has nearly reached you.

'percy...' you say as he catches you before you fall to the ground.

'shit, hold on.' says percy. he carefully lowers you to the ground in his arms. there's a panicked look in his eyes as he looks at your leg.

he quickly reaches down and tears off a piece of his shirt.

'percy!' you yell, looking at a monster that's running towards the two of you at full speed.

with one swift motion, percy slices through the monster with his sword, then he drops it and turns back to you.

he pulls you towards him and wraps the piece of his shirt around your thigh, above your wound.

'how many behind me?' he says.

you look over his shoulder, quickly counting the monsters that are making their way to you. it doesn't look good. 'seven.'

'sorry.'

'wait, for what-'

you're cut off as percy pulls the knot tight, sending a sharp pain through your leg.

'fuck! percy!' you curse.

'I said sorry. stay here do not pull that out.' says percy, pointing at the fang that's still stuck in your leg. he presses a quick kiss to your forehead before turning around and charging the monsters.

you knew percy could fight but holy shit.

it's like he moves with unnatural speed as he works his way through the monsters, making sure none of them slip past him to you.

even more so, he makes it look easy. almost god-like.

when you overheard someone from your cabin say that he's the most powerful demigod of your generation, you thought "sure he's a poseidon kid, it makes sense". you hadn't really thought much of it.

to you percy had always been, well, percy.

he always makes you laugh with bad jokes and saves you a spot at the campfire. he'll walk with you to your cabin if it's raining so you wouldn't get soaked. he prefers to sleep with you next to him, claiming it's so he won't get nightmares, but you know it's because he just wants to use you as his pillow.

but as you see him fighting off the monsters, lashing out and stabbing them like it's nothing, you realise what others see when they look at him.

suddenly percy is in front of you again, brushing monster dust off of his shoulder like it's no big deal.

'you okay?' he says, kneeling in front of you. he reaches out to gently cup your face.

you're silent as you look at him.

'y/n?' he says, looking you in your eyes, brows furrowed.

'did I mention I'm like, really really in love with you?' you say.

percy smiles briefly. 'yeah you've mentioned it.' he says. 'how are you feeling?'

'lucky to have you on my side.'

'I meant your leg, y/n.' he says, moving so he can inspect your leg.

'still hurts.'

'that shoulder also looks bad.' says percy. 'listen, I'll pull the fang out and give you nectar but it will still hurt, okay? then we'll look at your shoulder.'

'alright, make it quick.'

percy nods, then hands you some nectar.

'want me to count down?' he asks.

you nod, reaching out to take one of his hands in yours.

percy wraps his free hand around the fang.

you take a deep breath and nod at percy.

percy looks you in the eye and gives you an encouraging smile. 'sorry in advance. 3... 2... 1!'

with one swift motion he pulls the fang out. blood gushes out of the wound and the pain is unbearable. you close your eyes and feel how percy gently pushes the nectar to you and you take a sip.

it tastes like the drink sally made for you when you visited percy's home for the first time.

you keep your eyes closed as you wait for the pain to go away. you can feel percy rubbing circles on the back of your hand with his thumb, comforting you.

'it's already helping.' says percy softly.

you reach out and wrap your arms around percy.

'it's okay. I've got you.' says percy, holding you close. 'we can sit here for a while, but then we have to keep moving, okay?'

'okay.' you say, feeling percy press a kiss to your forehead.

you're really glad percy's here with you. if it weren't for him, you're not sure you would have made it back to camp in one piece, or at all.
