Y'all I know that when so-called AI generates ridiculous results it's hilarious and I find it as funny as the next guy but I NEED y'all to remember that every single time an AI answer is generated it uses 5x as much energy as a conventional websearch and burns through 10 ml of water. FOR EVERY ANSWER. Each big llm is equal to 300,000 kiligrams of carbon dioxide emissions.

LLMs are killing the environment, and when we generate answers for the lolz we're still contributing to it.

Stop using it. Stop using it for a.n.y.t.h.i.n.g. We need to kill it.

hey please be careful with misinformation—i work as a crisis counsellor for the trevor project and the goal is very much to avoid calling the cops until there is literally no other legal option. 988 exists so that people have someone to call that isn’t the cops who can give actual mental health support. things are trickier with people under 18 with child abuse but we won’t call the cops on you for suicidal ideation or even intent if we can deescalate and safety plan and we’re transparent with minors about mandatory reporting requirements and give them the option to continue talking or to change the subject (i hate cps i hate that we have any obligation to do this but informed consent is the very best we can do here and we make it a priority). people have plenty of bad experiences at some hotlines, traumatic ones, but PLEASE don’t feel deterred from reaching out to a hotline, especially the trevor project, because of this. WE DO NOT WANT TO CALL THE COPS!! THAT’S WHY WE EXIST!! the instances in which we stage involuntary interventions are INCREDIBLY RARE. PLEASE DO NOT GENERALISE THIS! REACH OUT FOR HELP!

i feel like people are skimming over the uk riots in a way that makes me want to tear my hair out. muslims in the uk are in active danger. immigrants in the uk are in active danger. refugees in the uk are in active danger. people of colour in the uk are in active danger. asian communities in the uk are in active danger. black communities in the uk are in active danger.

there are massive far right riots throughout the country right now and people like fucking elon musk and nigel farage are inciting it and still have a platform to speak. people have used three young girls deaths, people's genuine grief in southport, to try and gain traction for their own racist bullshit and it's working.

a lot of refugee charities have been forced to close leaving many people without support, homes, funding, food, etc. if you aren't able to donate please consider sending a message via the conversation over borders campaign! it will send a hopeful, welcoming letter to a refugee in the uk. there is also a guide to staying safe here.

please do your own research and donate to refugee charities, anti-islamophobia charities, mosques who are trying to rebuild after being destroyed, counter protesters, here are some i've heard positive things about but the list is extensive; southport strong together (support for the southport victims and their families), southport mosque rebuilding, riot repair fund, middlesbrough vulnerable residents, nasir mosque rebuilding, hull help for refugees, bristol welcomes migrants,
