I love Genshin, flaws and all. I love the character building, the world building, the art style, the writing, the plot twists, everything-

Of course I have my opinions on which character is the best or whatever, and about the mechanics and all that, but man

I am so hyped for every big update and, at the time of posting this, INCREDIBLY hyped for Fontaine. Even if the mechanics wind up mildly inconvenient or whatever, I'm going to be thrilled when that update releases, and I'm going to be nyooming through the archon quest.

I think the only thing I regret to any level is how begrudgingly cranky I was about starting

We need more shipping positivity out here so I'm gonna go off about all the Ghirahim ships I can think of and why they're rad. Now, if you purely like vanilla ships, you might not like these for the same reasons I do! I love toxic and/or angsty dynamics, and love the darker sides of all these ships so I'm going to focus a lot on those parts. I'll look at the vanilla perspective where I can too. If you like this and want me to try another Zelda Character (preferably a villain) shoot me an ask and I can do this for other characters!!

GhiraLink - The OG- I feel like most people who ship him with anyone shipped him with Link first. I certainly did. There's a ton you can do with them man. Link is tied to Zelda as Ghirahim is tied to his master and both are pawns in the greater scheme of things. You can do so many ways - personally I do prefer the darker route that plays into the creepy obsessive side of the character. The softer versions of the ship are nice too, though personally I like it better when you can see Ghiras development in these depictions. They can find solace in each other post game- and if you hc Demise was a bastard to Ghirahim this is also an opportunity for him to unlearn all the bad shit. Ghirahim becoming Link's new sword too? agh, Good Soup.

GhiraDemi: Master/Servant dynamic is ALWAYS a winner in my book. The adoration Ghirahim has for Demise is fantastic, and makes for a great dynamic whether it's returned or not. Again, I do like the darker route here, cause they are both mean bastards- I like the idea of Demise rubbing off on Ghirahim... but also think it would be rad if Ghirahim was deeply disturbed and violent BEFORE they met. Let them be terrible together, let them be CODEPENDANT! The angst potential for this ship is absolutely fantastic, and regardless of the level of toxicity you prefer - you KNOW he didn't handle it well when Demise was sealed, and he was left alone for centuries. I

DemiGhiraLink: Real ones know. Kudos to the folks who have made it their own and put different spins on it.

GhiraFi: I've drifted away from this ship, but it's still the parallels that get me. How they are functionally for the same purpose but so different? Have they always been like that? Which one changed? There are so many stories you could give them that could provide a variety of rich histories. I personally love the angst portion here. Love a good betrayal. Adore the scenarios people come up with where Ghirahim speaks to Fi during the events of the game, whenever she's separated from Link. And, of course, depending on whether you think she was changed, he could realize there's something wrong, this isn't the person he knew, and he would never get the closure of explaining himself. Or, if she remembers... Ghirahim being cold to her to avoid his feelings so he can do his job. Maybe a solemn understanding on Fi's side.

GhiraZant: Two super different guys dedicated to the same master. Both are massive creeps in their own right (see Zant's confrontation with Midna after the water temple), but have way different motives. Zant wanted to be a king. Ghirahim wanted to serve a king. I can see that being a good source of conflict. Perhaps they could find solace in each other if they ever understood they were being used.. or just magnify each other's obsession with their master. I suppose it depends on how much either of them remember. Does Zant remember the end of TP? Does Ghirahim remember the end of SkSw? The timeline of Hyrule Warriors is pretty unclear. Of course, there are AUs where Zant finds Ghirahim in TP...

GanGhira: Very similar to Ghirademi, but give Ghira some internal conflict about serving this mortal who's so different from his perfect master. Would he hold Ganondorf to higher standards? Would he just settle? Would he admire Ganondorf with the same fervor he did for Demise? Or, perhaps he sought Ganondorf out purposefully to continue his master's legacy. I have a lot of thoughts of a sword spirit mentoring a younger Ganondorf though sword fighting, dark magic, and seeding a deep hatred for the Goddesses. And it wouldn't be difficult, Hyrule really does create its own enemies.

GanGhiraZant: Combine the above two and add in Zant's dynamic with Ganondorf, and you've got some good soup babes GhiraVaati: I like Ghirahim, and I like Vaati (understatement of the century). And these two could NOT be more different. Vaati is essentially the hylian equivalent of a fae that decided he wanted to be a god and has a serious issue with authority. Meanwhile, Ghirahim is drawn to authority to the point he "waited his whole existence" for the chance to bring his master back. Now, perhaps Ghirahim would admire Vaati for this - ignoring his minish origins. But if we throw Ganondorf in the mix, I'm talking rivalry, I'm talking petty fights, hohoho it can get UGLY! Good opportunity for Enemies to rivals to friends to lovers here.

Getting into ships I'm not too knowledgeable on --

GhiraZel: Look. Heroine/Villain ships rock. Especially if you go with the HC Ghirahim betrayed Hylia and/or was her original sword. Perhaps he has some lingering regret about that. Perhaps he has mixed feelings about sacrifincing her- or perhaps he redirects his feelings into something more malicious. This isn't a ship I'm personally drawn to but there are quite a few possibilities and Godspeed to the folks that ship this, you rock.

GhiraVolga: Look a dragon getting possessive over what he deems a valuable treasure just gets to me ok. Two monsters, both keeping a barely restrained facade, but one that can turn into a fire-breathing monster at will? It's been a while since I indulged in this ship, but I know firsthand there ARE fics out there that explore this better than I can.

GhiraImpa: Could be an interesting history with these two. Considering, Ghirahim certainly have very intense feelings towards her in game. To the people who ship this rarepair I see you and I love you.

Okay, since I haven't seen many posts up yet about this, not that I blame anyone since others are probably at school and work rn, I want make a post summarizing what happened so far in the latest event on the JP server.

Disclaimers:

All of this info came from LuluBelle over on my Discord server, so all the credit for gathering this up goes to them.

Also, I don't know how to speak or read Japanese nor do I have the JP version of the app, making me unable to verify this. Take this all with a huge mountain of salt.

Like I said in my other post, I'm calling him Honest Fellow, since that sounds less awkward and I think it'll be localized to that anyway.

JP Event Spoilers Below

The arc starts with Honest Fellow and Giddel selling the themepark to some faceless NPCs. After some convincing, they enter the park. Honest Fellow evil laughs.

We cut to a basketball game between RSA and NRC. NRC lose yet again. NRC fight amongst themselves, and the teachers break it up.

After the game, Floyd, Ace, Yuu and Grim, wallowing in their frustration at NRC's loss to RSA, decided to go Craneport to get some snacks. There they find Jade and Jack on the way.Jack was there to get some new threads while Jade was there by sheer coincidence.

Kalim and Ortho arrive. They were in a bookstore, because Kalim was searching for books concerning magic potions, since he's struggling with those and Sam's shop was closed. (I have no idea why Jamil wasn't there either, because him leaving Kalim unattended seems kinda ooc.)

Honest Fellow along with his brother swoop in, making their sales pitch. Grim wonders about what Playful Land is exactly. Ace explains that it's a mysterious amusement park that nobody knows where it is. Honest Fellow says that's correct.

Honest Fellow gives the group tickets to the park. When Kalim says they'll go the next weekend, Honest Fellow chimes in, saying, "Oh, no, no! You can only use it until tomorrow!" They both fuck off into the night.

When the group gets back, they tell Riddle and Jamil about the tickets. They're both like, "Hell no!" Riddle shoots it down because skipping classes is unforgivable. (Ace was originally gonna invite Deuce, but he tattled on him to Riddle, since he found the whole thing suspicious. Honestly, good on him.) Jamil finds it suspicious and puts his foot down, telling Kalim that he forbids him from ever going.

Jack tells Leona, who is all like, "Nah, this is kinda fishy." Jack decides that he has to go because he promised Honest Fellow he would, and he doesn't want to break it.

Floyd tells Azul. He says, "Nope, I'm not coming. It's sus, and I don't wanna owe anybody anything!" They tweels laugh, saying that they want to check it out BECAUSE it's shady.

Ortho tells his brother. He shoots it down, since he doesn't like crowds. Ortho then confides in Vil thanks to them being in the same club.

Early the morning, before the sun rises, the group gathers to sneak to the harbour in town. Kalim managed to get the rest of the Light Music Club to come along, because they saw just how sad Kalim seemed and decided to tag along to comfort him. Vil was convinced to come along by Ortho. One, he wants to see what's the big deal about this park. Two, he's also suspicious, and, as a dorm leader, he wants to oversee all of his juniors and make sure they're all okay. Trey followed after Ace because Deuce asked him for his help and had the feeling that Ace would be stubborn enough to rebel and sneak out even though Riddle said no. Leona followed after Jack because he felt like he had to be the responsible one for once and was genuinely concerned about Jack's well being.

Honest Fellow arrives. He is just so dramatic. Half of them go, "Fucking really? Why did any of our juniors trust this guy? He's as sus as a FNAF animatronic!" (Not in those words, obliviously, but along that same idea.)

Honest Fellow shows them around the park. Which looks like this...

The park is more like those travelling summer fairs where it goes from town to town instead of staying in one place like Universal Studios, Knotts Berry Farm or any of the Disney Parks. The boys can kick back and indulge in their darkest desires.

The third years still feel that this whole thing is kinda sus. Since Grim and some of the others head straight to the entry gate, they reluctantly go along with it to watch over their juniors. Grim face plants into the gate, because he didn't show a ticket. Ace shows his ticket. Ace, Grim and Yuu's clothes get magically altered to resemble the ones on the card. The same thing happened to everyone else.

After everyone's gotten inside the amusement park, we have a foreboding speech from Honest Fellow and Giddel about how the young generation are easily skeptical, but can still be fooled by the promises of a fun play park. Honest Fellow mentions how he and Giddel should accommodate their visitors… for it will be the "last'' fun memory that they'd have. Cue End of Part 1.

Some other minor side things...

It's confirmed. Honest Fellow and Giddel are brothers.

Honest Fellow is a mage, but is less magically inclined compared to the NRC boys. Giddel is a non-mage.

Lulu, aka the same person from my Discord server, suspects the themepark itself might be a magic tool of some kind. Considering how it operated in the movie and novel along with fan theories about them, I'm inclined to believe them.

We also finally got a description of what Yuu is actually wearing during this event. (Honestly, it's about fucking time. Because one gripe I always had with these events is that we never get even a small description of what Yuu is wearing, which makes it harder to imagine what's going on in my head.) Basically, they are wearing the same style jacket as Leona, but with the same colours as Lilia's costume. Do with that information as you will Malleus/Yuu shippers.

Honest Fellow has a Honest John pendant on his hat.

More of a personal gripe, but I'm not sure what to make of Honest Fellow as a character yet. Right now, he seems like the mastermind behind this whole operation, but that doesn't make sense. In the movie, Honest John wasn't on board with the Pleasure Island shit, and only went along with it thanks to the Coachman threatening him and Gideon's lives. Wouldn't it be far more fitting for him to be a lacky of another villain and being forced to go along with it out of fear of having the same thing happen to him and his brother? And if that was the case, that would also better align him thematically with Ortho, who's brother is the same way towards him. But I'm reserving my judgements on his character until the event is over.

Playful Land gives me major Joy Joy Land vibes.

I find the idea of Leona, Trey and Vil going there, because they are worried about their juniors adorable. They are really tapping into their big brother instincts, even if I doubt Vil and Leona would ever admit it out loud.

Though, one plot hole with this whole thing is why didn't Jamil, Trey and Deuce rip up the tickets if they were that concerned about the others going to the park? Granted, the tickets could be enchanted so that they're impossible to destroy, but I never heard if that's the case yet. Idk, it's a nitpick, but it's still something that annoys me a bit as a writer myself.

Alright, I didn't make too much of an effort to hide it but how many of you guessed it was gregory and how many of you didn't see it coming?

Gee I wonder who Gregory's companions are

Okay if you don't have a nugget of who these companions are then my rambling below makes it a little more obvious

Anyway, this little comic of self indulgence to mend my broken heart says "YO what if Gregory and other characters saved Vanessa like they did in canon"

It certainly would NOT be easy for Vanessa once she wakes up to that realization. But there are factors that make it a little bit easier for Vanessa to cope compared to other children.

Since Gregory and others proved they could fight and free her as Vanny, it gives her mind a little reassurance that they aren't completely helpless.

Plus, I like the idea of the GGY story (Dr Rabbit) existing as this au's equivalent of the same experience, that would mean Gregory has had his own bad experiences with Glitchtrap and so it wouldn't be like some random kid going against a threat he was unfamiliar with

She still distances herself a lot earlier on and the more time passes, the older Gregory gets, the less he looks and sounds like a kid.

Those make it much easier for Vanessa to stand being around them as time goes by. Earlier on, she only really interacted when absolutely necessary. But she did grow a small soft spot for them.

She remained pretty closed off about herself over the years and never delved too deep about her past. Ness left frequently for her own hunting jobs and at one point Gregory asked where she went. Somethings made it seem like these hunts weren't just random and different

He didn't get an answer of course. But later that day, Vanessa told him about Y/n. In vague terms. This is the most information he ever gets about Vanessa's past.

So Gregory's got no idea who to expect to see showing up to the gravestone ltr on and is just like

Gregory: cool, ur mysterious enough for it to be believable ur related to my mysterious older sister/mentor figure Wanna hear a story

Y/n: ...yes.

Forgive him his brain is ever so foggy from grief and no slep

Anyway, Y/n picked a day to visit Vanessa when they knew they were stable enough not to lash out and attack any humans that may happen to also be visiting the graves. They had eaten pretty recently but not so recent that they were vulnerable.

It's pretty early in the morning where it is still dark and the rain provides some more protection.

If you couldn't tell before, many MANY years have passed since Y/n has been human. Think somewhere between 20-30 years. And while, they still hate who they are now and aren't mentally okay, they've gotten a semi-solid understanding of their limits and what they can and cannot tolerate and when.

And, even though they are nervous, they can manage to have this conversation with Gregory for now.

Why are they talking to Gregory so willingly? despite the risks?

If you've read my previous guide on making custom brushes, you'll find that it's relatively similar.

If you're brand spanking new to making any mods, this will probably take you through every single step, because I have an issue with being over-detailed.

Things you'll need:

Begin by making a new, empty package file, after that, open up the game file cruiser.

Find the "Pet Pelt Layer" and tick the box, after that, in the search box below the file types, write in "EP14", as this will hide cat and dog stencils that will show up.

From here, it's important that we find the right one to work with, it has to be tagged as "Stencil", in this case, it'll be the 3rd from the top of the list or - 00000000000554B4

You can definitely work with just the first one which is a pattern if you want to, but if you're completely new to modding, it will be much easier with the one I've linked. If you do choose the pattern route, remember to change it from pattern to stencil and ThumbnailKey is responsible for the thumbnail you'll see in game.

Now, grab your trusty notepad and make note of these ID's:

Once you've made note of these ID's, make sure you add the file to your current package. You can also skip writing down the ID's and just view them from your package editor screen, but I find it helps keep the workflow more compact, however it is up to you.

Now, go back to your filetype list and select "DST Image" and "RLE 2 Image":

Additionally, make sure you still have "EP14" in the search bar, for the next part we'll be using the instance search bar, as marked on top right.

Enter your first ID -

Add to package and do the same with the second ID.

Now, your new package file should look like this:

Once you're at this point, it's relatively easy sailing.

Start by going to Tools > Hash Generator and generate 3 ID's:

Edited 16/10/2023: When generating your hash ID's, please use your creator name ie.: "[YourCreatorName/Blogname]TutorialCustomFurCoat1", this will give you a more unique hash code than hoping to be as descriptive as possible when generating the hashes (in this case instance ID's). PS. You should still be descriptive.

I do it this way, descriptor + numbers, but you can do it whatever way you want to.

After that, we'll assign your newly generated ID's.

Respectively, my first ID will be used on the Pet Pelt Layer, Second ID will be used on the RLE 2 Image and 3rd ID will be used for the DDS image:

After this, you should save your package (so you don't lose your progress, I had a bluescreen happen and I'm still mad, so don't make my mistakes, it's easy to fix, just takes too much time).

Once you've saved your package, we can begin exporting/importing images.

For editing, I recommend actually grabbing the horse skin file. I've uploaded it to SimFileShare, it comes in two flavours .dds and .png, .png will be easier to work with, since it won't have the same layers are .dds.

Anyway, back on track we go:

Export the RLE2 image, it'll be saved as a .png, keep that in mind for later.

Once you're happy with your results, get to exporting your image.

IMPORTANT: remember to export the file in L8 format.

Once you're done with that, go ahead and import your picture into the package:

Repeat the same steps for the DST image, and you're done. Now, save your file and load it into the game:

(January 2023) Éclair Orage

This chost was originally going to contain a full bio for Éclair, but I've decided to relegate that to a reply to this, since that's taking forever to write and Cohost lets you show replies in tag searches under certain circumstances so it's not like it'll be lost to the ether; I'll retain the "quick facts" section in this chost since I already had that and most of its footnotes written, but the main body of prose will be in a follow-up chost

Overall Vibe™: Irritable gay older sister who's getting really tired of having to babysit her unruly siblings (read: the other party members), but who would cut a bitch to protect them

Notes:

Being the turbonerd that I am, I wrote up a calendar that my group uses (used?) for our settings, with the months named after various deities (mostly from the Nentir Vale/Dawn War pantheon). The new year starts roughly on the vernal equinox, which is a standalone month-agnostic day, and then the start of each season is also its own standalone month-agnostic day, with each month being exactly 30 days, along with a leap-day right between New Year's Day and the start of Spring (which is - say it with me - yet another standalone month-agnostic day). For a time I had a week being 5 days, but that's a logistical nightmare for so many reasons, so we went back to 7-day weeks, because fuck that. If I ever get back to actually playing D&D I'll probably revamp the names of the months as part of my plan to rework my setting to be less shit, which includes creating a proper pantheon instead of just borrowing deities from D&D.

She's actually currently 5'0", but she was planned to take a feat⁸ at level 12 that would represent her ancestral vaati traits intensifying, and that would have been accompanied by her eyes turning white (normally they're storm grey) and her suddenly growing a bit taller, inspired by the fact that vaati have pure-white eyes and are quite tall. She'd also have gotten a haircut around this time, as a sort of "well fuck it, my appearance just changed a bunch anyway, might as well lean into it" kind of thing, and so all of those visual changes are reflected here.

As explained in a previous chost, "Heritor Knight" is my homebrewed sorcerous version of the Eldritch Knight subclass; originally she was just an EK that used Cha and the Sorcerer spell list, but I've since done more to distinguish it as a distinct subclass, along with having versions for Druids, Clerics, and Bards, which can be found here alongside equivalent Arcane Trickster variants for each fullcaster (balance not guaranteed on account of little to no playtesting)

She's currently level 10, and considering the indefinite hiatus may end up that way indefinitely, but I've been drawing her as she'd appear at level 12+ (on account of the aforementioned feat changing her appearance). She also doesn't yet have the bracers of defense I keep drawing her with (which I redesigned for this drawing, because the previous design was kinda fucking lame), which she's saving up to buy from the local magic item broker.

A Swiss saber, as we'd call it in the modern real world, though of course that term is anachronistic and the setting Éclair is from has no Switzerland anyway. In my homebrew documents I list it as a "snipesword", which has the following stats: cost: 35 gp | damage: 1d8 slashing | weight: 4 lb. | properties: Finesse, versatile (1d10) Normally two-handing a versatile weapon fucking sucks compared to just using a one-handed weapon with the Dueling fighting style, but with my DM's permission I rewrote the Great Weapon fighting style to suck less, so it comes out to roughly the same damage (while looking a bit cooler, IMO).

Given that her main livelihood for the past decade has been bounty hunting (mostly small-time stuff; she started the campaign as a level 1 character, after all), having a way to stop a fleeing target - without, y'know, killing them - is pretty valuable for her, and so with the DM's blessing I wrote up 5e stats for bolas: cost: 2 gp | damage: 1 bludgeoning | weight: 1 lb. | properties: Finesse, special, thrown (range 20/60)

When you make an attack with bolas, you may choose whether to deal damage or to immobilize the target. If you choose to deal damage, the target takes damage as normal on a hit. If you choose to immobilize the target and hit, it can’t use any movement speed that relies on its legs, and it must make a Dexterity saving throw or fall prone, the save DC for which equals 8 + your attack bonus with the weapon. Bolas have no effect on creatures that are formless, or creatures that are Huge or larger. A creature can use its action to make a DC 8 Strength check, freeing itself or another creature within its reach on a success. Dealing 3 slashing damage to the bolas (AC 10) also frees the creature without harming it, ending the effect and destroying the bolas.

Also explained in a previous chost. Basically divine favor meets elemental weapon but a little more user-friendly than either of them (I also rewrote those spells to be a little more user-friendly, particularly elemental weapon because hoooooo boy was that a rough one)

Elemental Sheath 1st-level transmutation You wreathe a weapon you touch with elemental energy. Choose one of the following damage types: acid, cold, fire, lightning, or thunder. For the duration, the weapon deals an extra 1d4 damage of the chosen type when it hits. At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 2nd level or higher, you can touch a creature instead of a weapon, imbuing it with elemental energy. Until the spell ends, the creature deals an extra 1d4 damage of the chosen type when it hits with a weapon attack.

That's right, we've got footnotes within footnotes! The feat in question is a relatively minor (and DM-approved, of course) retooling of Fey Touched from Tasha's Cacophony of Powercreep, taking mage armor as the chosen spell instead of a spell from one of the officially allowed schools (divination or enchantment, neither of which contain any spells remotely appropriate to Éclair's concept) but keeping misty step per the vanilla version of the feat, with the idea being that it's "Storm Touched" instead on account of her vaati ancestry. She already has both of those spells from her subclass, but they would have been retrained ASAP to mirror image (which she used to have until I decided that misty step provided way more utility and survivability, and given the small size of a third-caster's spell list I didn't have room for both) and her homebrew signature spell, Éclair's branching bolt⁹, to avoid redundancies.

Gotta be honest, I wasn't originally planning to nest a footnote within an already nested footnote, but then I realized one of the spells being retrained because of Storm Touched was homebrew. WHOOPS!! Anyway, the idea with Éclair's branching bolt was to have it be conceptually akin to Melf's minute meteors; i.e., a more granular version of one of the big 3rd-level evocation nuke spells (lightning bolt and fireball, respectively). Because Éclair isn't actually at a high enough level to cast the spell, it technically doesn't exist yet since she won't have invented it until she can cast 3rd-level spells. I actually made a series of physical guides to use when casting the spell out of toothpicks, each one 2 inches (10 in-game feet) long and two toothpicks (~1/5th of an inch, or 1 in-game foot) wide. The text of the spell:

Éclair's Branching Bolt 3rd-level evocation A branching bolt of lightning blasts out from you in a direction you choose. The bolt consists of six segments, each one a line 10 feet long and 1 foot wide. Each segment must connect with another segment. Creatures in the bolt's path must make a Dexterity saving throw, taking 5d6 lightning damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one. The lightning ignites flammable objects in the area that aren't being worn or carried. At Higher Levels. When you cast this spell using a spell slot of 4th level of higher, the damage increases by 1d6 for each slot level above 3rd, and the number of segments in the bolt increases by 1 for each slot level above 3rd.

How to search some specific genre fics on ao3 ? Like do we put the genre on Google or should put that on ao3 and we'll get? I mean idk exactly what are the things we should use to describe or find specific genre fics on ao3, idk how it works sorry, so if you can just tell me how to search that wil be helpful..

I'm okay with doing a quick little AO3 tags lesson! I'm on mobile for now though, so that's what you are getting.

So idk if there are better ways, but I normally start with the fandom (unless you are searching more specifically off the bat, but I like browsing and seeing what catches my eye.) So for this example, let's say the MDZS fandom is what we are searching in as that's the fandom sandbox that has been the subject of my hyper fixation for a while now! So either find while already in AO3 or just type "x fandom AO3" into Google too, that would work just fine lol. Than once in the fandom tag, click "filters"

Once in filters, you'll see a bunch of options, the ones you probably want to use first for "genre" type stuff is the relationships, other tags and sort by. Those are the ones I use most anyway

Under relationships click the pairing you want to read about (if you are searching under BTS, you'd click "Jeon Jungkook/Park Jimin" if you want Jikook fics) and then you could also type in under other tags which type of story you are looking for. And then I always sort by kudos to get the highest rated fics at the top....

So let's do wangxian as my pairing....

Then I can figure out what type of vibe of story I might want.... Like if I wanted an AU, it would give suggestions as I type too....

Or a fix it....

Or time travel....

Plus the additional tags gives some of the most popular tags in the fandom we are under currently that get used.... You can check off any of those....

You can also check the other filters to narrow things down further, like if you want completed fics only. The type of relationship (m/m, m/f, f/f, etc), the rating (explicit to general), you can also check off if you want to exclude anything. So if you really don't want to read about a certain tag or relationship, exclude it and any fics with that in it won't show up in your search.

So if I just said I want a Wangxian fic that's in a modern university setting... I can put that into the filters, sort by kudos.... And it'll just give me pages of fics I can scroll through till I find a description/summary that appeals to me lol

(and in case anyone was wondering, the first two fics are hilarious and adorable and I plan to read ride a socialist now lol)

Some musings on how the Aware AU might be best structured as a story and like:

Prologue would presumably be the party. So Adrien & Chloe have already started shifts in behavior that will be contextualized for the audience alongside other characters and flashbacks.

This is because it lets one introduce all three abused kids & Marinette and justify the Marinette/Kagami relationship.

This would likely be followed with Origins, but with the aforementioned Adrien in class, desk squabble, Nino biting the bullet but being intrigued ETC.

But there could be an interlude with Kagami contacting Chloe & Adrien secretly to be like, "Please tell my mother I made a good impression on you so she'll let me go to school here, I just made my first friend." & are instantly like, "Oh she's just like Adrien/me for real" and help her out, thus absorbing her into their duo making a trio.

The above however could be covered in a flashback.

Marinette is bamboozled how they know her Kagami & they are shocked Marinette is the friend she wanted so badly. Well Adrien is, Chloe is probably mentally sulking about how easy it is for Marinette to make friends. But Kagami likely explains what she can & things move on.

Anyway, if there are shifts in Miraculous or numbers then they'd happen, her but the prologue & Origins would be used to establish the status quo for the story going forward.

After which I imagine it can basically be broken up into a sort of "Era of understanding" IE, how little or how much does Marinette understand of their situation & how much do they understand themselves?

Nino would be useful as the sort of intermediary person whose ahead of the curve but between two parties.

But yeah, first half of season is no understanding, then Nino understanding, with the season 1 finale, serving to not bring about total understanding but definitely break some barriers.

IE, Marinette is likely at least at a stage where she thinks Chloe & Adrien's parents aren't very good at being parents, but not that they are actively abusive. So the dynamic cools a bit but remains easily ignited.

Season 2 would likely then build up to the full revelation and confrontations as barriers break. With Lila also being worked into the trio to make a quartet, much against her will, and Kagami's breaking moment probably being the big "Oh fuck" moment for everyone pre Heroes Day.

(Though gods if it continued and Kagami could be the Chat Noir)

But yeah I feel like that gives a loose but generalized shift that meshes well enough with the characters and time allowing for growth.

First season is all awkward growing pains, fumbles and such, while season 2 is once everyone's shifted into a stable if not perfect dynamic that can finally allow the main stage of self awareness to be reached.

This was way more organized my head, sorry.

This all sounds good! It sort of reminds me of a rant I went on a bit ago, about how to do Senti-Adrien even if they only thought of it late. You don’t backtrack to have it make sense, you have characters commenting on the changes.

Like, the Senti-Thing, I said just have it that Adrien's already shedding his programming, already becoming a Real Boy(tm), so don’t have him suddenly be obedient. Have Gabriel come to the REALIZATION that his son is no longer obedient, and have flashbacks backing up how Adrien USED to be. (If you wanna find the rant, search @princess-of-the-corner blog's submission tag, it'll be far down, but it’s honestly faster than trying to find it on my blog. Please note there are two, one serious, one comedy)

But yeah, similar thing here! Have the party establish their "new" behaviour by everyone commenting on how weird it is, and showing flashbacks. I might have a specific scene where we see the inciting incident for Adrien and Chloé. Like, don't make it long, don’t give context, just a quick taste of the fact SOMETHING happened. Maybe a scene from Chloé comforting Adrien after Emilie disappears?

Another thing that might help/hinder Marinette would be Alya. Or, like, maybe to help show contrast with Nino? Cause, I think you said it before, Alya's kind of living out her tropes right now. She's the best friend of the Nice Girl[tm], Chloé's obvious the Popular Mean Girl [tm]. Alya would agree with Marinette that Chloé is a brat who needs to be taken down a peg. Meanwhile Nino, who has been in the same class as these two since diapers, is a bit more mellowed out. He isn’t seeing tropes, he's seeing people. Like, he has no clue what's going on, but he knows it’s more complicated than "Rich Bitch Spoiled Princess". Actually, I might have that be what kills Nino's crush on Marinette. Like, he still likes her fine. They're still friends. But Marinette's initial inability to see Chloé as anything but a bully and Spoiled brat, and how it’s colouring her perception of Adrien, might cause Nino to lose his infatuation with Marinette. Like, if I had a crush on someone, and they refused to believe that one of my friends might be abused, I would stop liking them real quick.

I can't speak for everyone. But, from what I've noticed, is that only a small amount of people are still active in the Alice In Borderland fandom right now. Since I'm rewatching the series, I actually got a few people watching the show again too.

And since there are rumors, probably amongst fans anyway, that there is gonna be a third season soon.. I doubt that. If they do somehow continue the show in any way, then they would have to do the sequels from the manga. Except the only main character in the sequels is Arisu (and Usagi to some extent), but not other characters. Unless they have a whole new theme for the new season that's rumored now. So I also noticed a couple people rewatching the show, just because of these rumors too.

Maybe try searching through tags? Maybe that will help you see how active the AIB fandom is now.

I know this ask is super old, but I actually started another rewatch of aib recently too!

It honestly brought back a lot of excitement about the show for me and I'm hoping that it'll bring back some inspiration as well.

As for another season, I honestly doubt there's going to be another one, unless they're just planning to come up with their own content, which knowing Netflix I don't think that would be a good idea

you wanna filter out specific ships? authors? your own embarrassing fics (does not count anon fics sadly)? or even specific tags? track fic length individually and more?

well I have:

AO3 Enhancements for you!!!

so, this extension is available for just about every browser, i use it for edge but it IS available for chrome and likely firefox too. just go to the extension store based on ur browser and type in AO3 Enhancements.

anyways more directions below IF it interests you to have a helpful AO3 extension:

this is edge, though i already have it, so instead of remove it'll likely say add or add extension or download:

now, for whatever your browser is, you just hit the add button. i will use chrome for this. so, hit 'add to chrome'.

this box below should show up, just hit add extension anyway.

and then once you've hit add extension, it may take 3-5 seconds (as it did me), and then boom! it's done. now, you'll notice a few differences instantly on a fic. here's an example:

there's a 'Finish reading' box and a 'Kudos/Hits' box. So if you want the ratio, for whatever reason, there you have it! Now, the Finish reading is complex.

When you go to your extensions, and find AO3 Enhancements, hit the box that says 'Options' when you open the options with the three dots.

this is what you should get:

now, 'Finish reading' depends on how far along you move the scale for the 'My reading speed is ___ words/min' section. The default is 200. I put mine on 400, which is the max. The lowest is 100. You can go 1 by 1, so if you want 206 or 143, you can have that.

The 'Blurb statistics' are all default on, but you can change it. Here's the options:

Now, all of these are pretty simple, so you can imagine what they all mean and do. The word count for each chapter is helpful for if you want to know if a chapter is really long, or short. 'Finish reading' for each chapter helps too.

Now, the 'Hide works' section. The 'many fandoms' part is just for if it's a crossover fic and you don't want those, I know I don't, so I should... probably turn that on.

If you turn it on, here's what it looks like:

Each tick is 1 fandom. The default is 4. You can go up to 10 fandoms. For the language part, it opens a box saying 'Show only these languages:' when it's on. You can then type in the language you want to only show or select from the dropdown menu of a bunch of languages in alphabetical order.

For the 'author' part, which is... very helpful for me, you click it and this appears, as it does with 'tags':

You simply type in their name and it hides the work. If you write, but don't like to see it in the search results/filters of your tags or fandoms, this is helpful.

For tags, you type in the tag, relationship or additional, doesn't matter, and it hides the work for it. The 'unless' part is obvious. I don't use that, but if you're very 'wellll i mean' about fic, then it's probably worth it.

Next, Style Tweaks.

I don't use these, but it's likely helpful if any of them apply to your standard reading preferences.

Track Works is what you need to be logged in for, and you can easily do that by clicking the door icon near the 'Not logged in' and typing in your username. At least, that's what I did. No password needed.

I'll type out the warning in yellow:

'Track works is still a WIP (work in progress). This means that some parts might not always function properly.

Tracking of visited and marked for later works is not implemented yet. Also note that if you use AO3 Enhancements on multiple devices, like your pc and your phone, and they are both logged into the same AO3 account, kudos might not show up on one device if you give them on the other device. The fix for now is to simply open the work on the other device that is missing the kudos - it should then update and realise that you have indeed given kudos. The same applies to subscriptions and bookmarks.'

Here's the options:

Just click what you want and then you're good. The Advanced is pretty much useless, but if you want to see how much data you use, then there you go. It's very small even after months of use for me, sitting at 149.26KB in 8-ish months.

So if you want to use any of these options but AO3 doesn't offer it, just get AO3 Enhancements. It's hella useful + free.

Also, small mention: AO3 Saver is good too. It tracks what works you visit, so if AO3 goes down or you want to find that ONE really good fic you read and remember the title but can't find it or want to see what you read, just go into the extension and it'll be a column, like this:

and so on. When you hover over one, you get the option to download it. It opens as a PDF in a new tab and from there do whatever you want with the PDF! It also saves drafts as well, but you can't download drafts. It just says work not found.

Entry 1.6.4-2 - The Oakenhall of Timberport

Welcome to my blog. I’m not tagging anything but entry #, so sorry if my unrelated mess somehow ends up in your search.

Just realized 1.6 came out in 2013 so we're now in a 10 year old edition, slowly catching up.

I'm wondering if maybe I should focus on more farming, just grind in my existing plains biomes especially since acacia/dark oak is being added in 1.7. Then I considered waiting until 1.7 to roam for horses, but if I run into a roofed forest then, I might lose access to a woodland mansion (not added until 1.11) so I truly can't wander much until biomes and caves are locked in.

This adds an interesting aspect to my gameplay, since usually in a Normal™ minecraft world I will typically wander too far from my base, die, have no idea where I was, and give up. Hence why my last major world project was hardcore. I hate being locked into hard mode but I acknowledge that I am not a good enough gamer to play on hard all day every day.

Tangent aside, I'm going to be stuck in 1.6 for a while I think. Which is disappointing, because I am Very excited for afk fish farming in 1.7 but can't upgrade.

If I'm going to be here for a while, I'm going to spend some time properly constructing buildings around the village. I've been doing little bits of terraforming and tearing down houses, I think my (kind of ugly) house) is one of the few buildings left standing. I'd like to relocate my house, maybe to the top of the mountain above Giratina, but I don't know.

I think this location would be good for a better hotel/inn setup than I currently have, I scaled down a "modern" build I saw on google for the previous villager housing and I don't think I'm a fan. Reconstruction time!

I do want to make sure I reuse these brick stairs for something in the new build though, bricks were (and kinda still are) a flex.

Also, because achievements reset again, I got "Getting Wood" for tearing down my own home. Incredible.

I think I could make a wheat farm underneath the housing, safely locked away from the villagers who will probably find a way to trample it.

[ONE WEEK OF GAMEPLAY LATER]

hey so uh. there were a few progress pics but tumblr ate my previous draft of this post. Say hello to Oakenhall. I played with fantasy name generator and kinda got stuck on a wood theme kick bc I want to use mostly wood for the village buildings and plant an illuminated (maybe more froglight mushroom themed later on) forest close to the walls.

It'll be expensive and time consuming, but I want to put logs columns where I would have placed corner stairs on the wall, if that makes sense.

like hiding where the wall corners meet.

Anyway, I wanted this blog to be a bit more journal-y so I'm going to start doing more weekly-ish posts where I play in small increments before work and *maybe* make more progress on days off, maybe. Then at the end of the week I'd just tour any unique changes rather than my current strategy of literally blogging while I play, which is kind of distracting.

ANYWAY. I want to make the most of this is a kind of taste of what the new entrys will be like.

This is the back of Oakenhall, I wanted to make some kind of back mural but with only a 3x5 area I just made it a little abstract rainbow.

This roof will take me forever I hate building roofs so much this is why I just squared off the old building

Also, can we talk about how time consuming wooden builds are?

Like between the walls and floor (don't get me started on accent logs) this takes so much wood. But also, I wanted to show somehow that this is plank floor so I used all the stairs I got from tearing down villager roofs as a kind of baseboard.

At the rate I'm going and how much wood I still need, I might have to take a break from building to enchant another axe (silk touch would be nice, even if its not on a pickaxe..)

I don't think I would ever make an automatic tree farm. If I'm going to build something from wood, I would much rather just cut down trees (getting saplings to hoard to turn into bone meal later) than have to create complex redstone contraptions to break the game and duplicate sand to mine the wood with TNT. Waaayyy too much work.

Between those two logs is the entrance, I have 8 doors and 8 beds on this floor. I still haven't crafted any paintings for the interior but I'm focusing on the 2nd floor walls rn so my wool is going to smth else

the 2nd story has 10 doors and 12 beds, I'm prepped for when they'll eventually need beds, and I may have some "accidental" villagers walking into lava so that I can get every profession here.

I do have quite the little collection of them now, I'm pretty sure they're ready to move into their new home. Could've swore I had a priest and a few more villagers but they could've wandered off or killed themselves climbing my incomplete demolitions. I did accidentally axe one.

Glad the golem is happy w/ the new place :)

I guess my next post will be next Tuesday if everything goes according to plan.

I recently saw a post saying that if you don’t experience body dysphoria that you’re not trans and honestly it’s been making me think that maybe I’m not trans or not trans enough because I don’t hate my body that much. Can I have some help?

When I start getting caught up in ‘trans enough’ discourse I always remember that the most widely used definition of trans is “People whose gender identity differs from the sex they were assigned at birth.”  Big social change advocates like GLAAD use this definition.  This is their transfaq page.  You’ll notice that when they talk about both definitions and respect, there is no mention of ‘dysphoria’ as a qualifier.  If you have a gender identity that differs from your assigned sex, that’s it.  You fit the definition of trans and deserve respect.  There are no other requirements.  Not medical/social transition, not dysphoria, not name changes or specific pronouns or any kind of outside validation.  

Going deeper, the idea that only dysphoric trans people are valid is a narrow, reductive sort of mindset simply because it fails to account for the diversity of human experience.  For most of us, our sense of self and our identity isn’t 100% rooted in biology.  In fact, most people would get offended by the idea that our culture, our spirituality, and our history have no bearing on our identity.  We are made up of all kinds of different connections and correlations that may or may not have any scientific/biological basis, much less a strict, rigid one like the mainstream understanding of biological sex.  That’s the thing about identity, especially gender identity--we may have begun the work by picking XYZ arbitrary characteristic (in this case biological sex characteristics) to define us, but we break those molds almost as soon as they are made in order to accommodate a more nuanced understanding.  Even cis people.  If you reduce cis women to their reproductive organs, you’re missing a HUGE part of what it means to be a woman, you know?  So why is it any different with trans people?  Why should trans people have their identities cut away and culture diminished until their bodies are the only part that matters if we’re willing to give cis people that freedom?  It just doesn’t make sense.

The idea that body dysphoria, when your mental map of your body misaligns with your physical one and causes distress, is the only way to experience gender differences is an incomplete picture.  Dysphoria is one trait, one type of trans experience.  It may be a common one, but it’s by no means the only one.  Insisting that body dysphoria is the One True Trans Experience and everyone else is a Faker is basically our equivalent of militant vegans.  

You don’t need to define yourself by anyone else’s ideas or submit yourself to anyone else’s subjective standards.  You are the only one who can say what your gender is.  You are the only one who knows what gender means to you.  You are the only one who has a say.  It’s YOUR identity.
