Okay I know I said I wasn't gonna respond but then they hit me with this stupid diagram so now I need to unpack this
Tumblr media
YOU are arguing in bad faith.
From the moment you saw my reblog you immediately assumed a whole bunch of things about me and have refused to let any of those assumptions for this entire reblog chain. I just decided to glare over the obvious issues so that I could at figure out where you were coming from. I now have no more reason to do that, so there's no point in continuing the discussion.
"You are pretending to be a revolutionary"
No I'm not. Once again, my original post has NOTHING to do with my own political stance. Yes this is a political book written by someone who's...controversial, to put it lightly, but that does not stop me from having my own interpretation of the book. At no point have I ever said that my interpretation is correct. I have, however, said that I don't agree with the idea that the book is telling you not to stand up to your oppressors (though I would not refute the idea that it's the author's irl intentions). At no point has anyone given me a reason to believe in this interpretation. Instead, you in particular have immediately profiled me as a "liberal" (which may I add, is a word that is also used as an insult by CONSERVATIVES), called me a chimpanzee for having an opinion (mind you, I'm black, so I have a very good reason for finding that racist), and kept trying to spread the idea that I'm trying to be 'revolutional' and that I think George Orwell is peak revolutionary media. My brother in Christ I'm talking about a book. Yes it relates to the real world (read: me comparing the book to Stalin's reign, someone else comparing what I said to what's going on in America with Trump), yes the book is trying to be anti-communist, yes George Orwell is a bad person. None of that changes what I've said.
"While defending liberal capitalism and british imperialists"
How? How does anything about my interpretation of the book relate to this? I've already made it clear I don't support Orwell, and nothing in my original interpretation is even CLOSE to matching that description.
You wanna talk media literacy? Stop profiling people over their interpretation of fiction. That's literally the point of my blog, actually - for people to stop using taste in fiction to determine morals.
And besides we need to break down this diagram
Tumblr media
Why are you insulting people who can't read? (Mega ironic considering the rest of the animals in Animal Farm)
Why do you hate Biden voters? Would you have preferred they vote for Trump?
The fact that you think "Hitler youth" (aka neo-Nazis) stem from Biden voters says A LOT MORE about you than any nonsense you've spouted about me
I'm actually kinda flattered you think my post questioning someone's interpretation of a fictional story whilst giving mine is gonna have this big of a reach <3
Also you really like chimpanzees, don't you? You think using animals as insults makes your point stronger?
Hands down, you're a reactionary mfer who needs to be called out. I wouldn't be surprised if you secretly supported MAGA. I'm glad I at least engaged long enough to be able to unpack that much.
Stop attacking "liberal punks" and work on yourself.
Unfortunately I don't think I can block people on sideblogs, but I encourage anyone else reading this to block them on my behalf.
By the way, in case anyone's curious, I have no opinion on capitalism or communism. All the people I've seen (especially on this site) with strong opinions either way turn out to be nasty people like this guy. I am also simply not interested in conversations about which one is better (because usually no-one speaking is doing so in good faith so I'd just rather not). Please do not send me asks about communism/capitalism (unless it's in the content of fiction obvi), because I will simply delete them.
very funny to me when people act like animal farm and 1984 are revolutionary anti government texts that the Powers That Be dont want you to read when they have literally been a part of every standard middle/highschool english lit cirriculum in the usa and beyond for decades. precisely because theyre such convenient primers to propagandize that Commies = Bad. the government is quite literally making kids read them

I was writing about this in the tags but no it deserves its own post. Like putting aside how uncomfortable it was and how creepy it was towards Aidan and how it’s against Five’s character and blah blah blah. Five and Lila’s storyline was incredibly sexist. I am too tired to go too in depth on this so if anyone wants to add anything then please do. It is 10pm and this is hastily written but I just want you all to understand how fucking angry I am
Lila starts out as this badass female assassin. She has a really strong character and personality and although she’s seen as a part of Diego’s storyline in s2 she very much feels like her own character and she integrates into Hargreeves like a new main character
S4 just… She’s a mother of three kids which is objectively fine I guess?? Like making her a mother was kinda sexist but they could’ve made it work. But it’s been six years and she doesn’t have a job. They turn her into a stay at home mother which was unnecessary. And almost her entire storyline revolves around Five. They don’t delve into her relationship with her parents even though they were dead. You barely see them. So much of what she does was the writers setting the scene so her and Five can get together. She starts looking into The Keepers so she can bump into Five and then have that scene in the cafe. She is unpleased with her marriage so she can get with Five. She wants to explore the subway system and try to time travel back to fix the timeline so that she can get lost in there with Five. It’s actually so foul. I am so disgusted. She argues with Five and says that it’s not about him and Five says that it is about him. They then make Five out as some like kicked puppy. Her reuniting with Diego has Five standing right there looking all sad. Her reuniting with her kids also has Five standing there all ‘woe is me.’ He then has his whole sulking on the train bit like they try SO hard to make you feel sorry for him. Her saying goodbye to her kids also has Five standing right there and then as she’s crying in his arms he leans his head into her hair like he owns her or something and seems almost happy after seeing her have to abandon her fucking children. And then right at the end as they’re about to die Lila goes and holds his hand to make him feel better
Lila was such a cool and complex character and it was really refreshing to see a woman especially a woc be morally grey and they threw it all away
They made a poc woman’s character arc revolve entirely around a white man for a conventional cishet romance that nobody wanted and actively harmed the actors on the show. They turned her into Five’s little plaything so Steve could live out his perverted fantasy of Five having a wife and I am utterly disgusted by it

Like A Virgin/ j.t.k

as always please lmk if anything’s missed
inspired by my dear nick & this song
a/n: sorry if this is kinda cheesy/short/whatever… just needed to write a virgin jake fic
——————🌸——————
“Yeah, maybe we can hang out this summer!”
Those were the last words you’d hear from Jake Kiszka after graduation as he scribbled his phone number and a smiley face next to his picture in your yearbook. He must have known you had a small crush on him that may or may not have developed during senior year calculus after some group work.
His number was saved to your contacts that day but it wasn’t until August came around before you ever texted him, but he wasn’t your first thought. You knew he lived relatively close to you, one block to the left and over the train tracks, all the way at the end of the street. Meanwhile, you only lived a block away from your best and really only friend, Kiera, so she’s who you’d spend most your time with.
Today has been the longest day of your life. A screaming match with your mom over the gap year you decided on last minute, your dad drinking again, an entire summer of pent up anger bouncing around the walls of your home had finally bursted at the seams. You spent all night crying, your mind traveling to the darkest of places. It just felt like you needed a hug, for someone to hold you and tell you it would all be okay.
“Hello?”
It took five rings before Kiera answered her phone. In her defense it was roughly two in the morning and you should have been asleep, too.
“Kiera? I-I could really use your company if you can.” The sobbing hadn’t stopped, the words barely coming out.
“Y/n… My parents won’t let me out this late, you know that.”
“Even if I walk there? I-Kiera, I just need a hug or a blunt, something. And I don’t know anyone else.”
“Well, you know Jake, and his mom’s much nicer than mine.” She sounded irritated but you knew she was trying her best to be patient.
“I haven't talked to him since grad, I can’t just hit him up.”
“Just text him? He posted on Snapchat like fifteen minutes ago and he lives right there.”
“Okay, okay, fine. But what if he thinks-”
“Just do it and let me know, okay? I love you, good night.” She hung up before you could even respond.
Breathe, Y/n, it’s fine, everything is fine.
You: Heyyy Jake it’s Y/n
Jake K: Hey stranger, what’s up?
You: So super awkward, but I’m in desperate need of a blunt and a hug
Jake K: Done and done. Remember where I live?
You: Yeah
Jake K: Come on by, porch lights on
How could you forget where he lived? Sure, you went once for Jake and Josh’s graduation party, but after learning how close your highschool crush lived to you, you’d never forget. You fixed your hair in the bathroom and splashed your face with cool water in attempts to bring down your swollen red eyes. A little bit of deodorant and some perfume would be the finishing touches before returning to your room. You couldn’t leave through the front door, the dogs would bark and it would add one more thing to the list of arguments yet to be had. It doesn’t matter you’re eighteen, as long as you lived under your parent’s roof, it was their rules. You opened your window and climbed out, using the junction box outside your window for leverage.
It takes eleven minutes to walk from your house to Jake’s, where he’s already standing on his front porch waiting for you. He’s in basketball shorts, slip on Vans and a pullover hoodie, and somehow he still looks good as ever. You weren’t half way up his driveway before he began walking towards you with his arms wide open. At graduation he only offered an awkward side hug, so this sure was new to say the least. Jake wraps both his arms around your shoulders, pulling you into his chest. You inhale his scent, he just smells like home. Not yours, most likely his, but home with a hint of worn off cologne. Your heart begins racing a lot faster than you want to admit as he holds you until you let go.
“Shall we?” He asks in a deep silly voice as he leads you through the gate to his backyard. There was a firepit in the middle of some chairs and a cute little picnic table off to the side. You follow him towards the mahogany stained wood and sit across from him. The only light was that of the full moon washing over everything in a blue tint.
“Do you know how to roll?” Jake asks as he empties the contents of his pockets on the table.
“Uh-uh.” You shook your head.
“S’okay, I can show you.” Jake turns the flashlight from his phone on, handing it to you to hold. He walks you through the process, admittedly you paid more attention to the way his fingers moved than the actual task itself.
You watch as his tongue parts his lips and licks across the blunt, sealing the weed inside. Jake reaches for his phone, his fingers brushing gently against your knuckles. The two of you stand awkwardly from the table, the moonlight illuminating Jake’s soft features.
“C’mere, I know a spot.” He holds his empty hand out towards you and waits until you place your palm in his. Jake guides you to the side of his house and down a tiny path that leads to a creek. There resides an old metal bench that Jake directs you towards. He places the blunt between his plush pink lips and brings the lighter to the end, the red hot cherry casting a golden hue against his cheek bones. A couple silent puff, puff, passes happen before you speak.
“I’m sorry I didn’t text you sooner. Life’s just been kinda…” You trailed off.
“Hey, don’t apologize,” He shifts to face you, bringing his one leg up. “We’re here now, that’s what matters.”
More silence occured as the blunt was worked down to nothing, but the silence was comfortable. You didn’t want to talk about your problems and ruin the safe bubble that naturally surrounded Jake’s existence, opting to ask him about his plans instead.
“So, is the band doing good or are you gonna go to college?” You ask, matching his stance by turning to face him.
“Band’s going places, I think. I dunno, gotta wait for Sammy and Danny to finish school, then we’ll really know. You?”
“Taking a gap year, but who knows? Maybe I could be some rockstar’s girlfriend.” Sheesh, the weed had you feeling ballsy.
“Yeah, maybe.”
The comfortable silence had now grown awkward as you struggled to even look in Jake’s direction.
“You should hear me play some time. I-I mean if you wanted to I can right now.” Jake stumbles over his words, presumably a mix of anxiousness and marijuana.
“Sure, yeah, that sounds good.” You nod and stand at the same time Jake does, taking his hand once again as he held it out for you. His palms feel warm and clammy, usually you’d be off put but his nervousness is endearing.
He opens the little side door to the garage and flicks on the light. It smells very garage-y, the whirring of the fluorescent lights really tying it together. He walks to the opposite side and grabs his acoustic guitar before suggesting you sit on the couch next to him.
“We’ve been working on this one for a little bit, it’s called Flower Power.”
He plays chords to a song you hadn’t heard, singing chunks of lyrics alike. It was a beautiful song nonetheless, maybe even one you’d listen to on your own accord.
“Wow, she must be a lucky girl.”
“Think so? Why’s that?” Jake giggled as he discarded his guitar. He flicked on a lava lamp before shutting the flourecent light off and returning awfully close beside you.
“Are you kidding me? If someone wrote that about me, said that to me?! I think every girl wants to be loved that way.”
“Yeah?” He laughed again, shaking his head.
“Yes!”
“And what if I told you someone did?”
“What?” Your cheeks flamed red, matching the color of the lamp beside you.
“That’s your song, Y/n.” Jake reaches his hand out to yours again for the third time tonight, this time interlocking his fingers with yours.
“Mine?”
Jake nodded before some force pulled the two of you together, your lips crashing into his. After months of wondering what he tasted like, the flavor of weed and spearmint on his lips was one you’d never forget. The kissing grew quickly heated as Jake’s hands found purchase on your hips, his knee planted between yours as he hovered over you. You found yourself rutting your hips up against his as he did the same, the feeling of his hardening length against your clothed center driving you places you’d never been. The kissing led to shirts being removed, ultimately leaving you in your bra and underwear, Jake in his shorts.
“What d’ya wanna do?” He whispered between kisses, his hands migrating to your breasts.
“Um, not sure… I’ve never-”
“No, me either, it’s okay.”
“I can- do you want head?”
“You okay with that?”
“Yeah,”
Jake sat beside you again as you stood between his legs, lowering yourself to your knees. You’d never given head before, or done anything along these lines. Your body filled with an unfamiliar sensation as you progressed, dipping your fingers past the waistband of his shorts and boxers. His length sprung straight up and your eyes widened at the sheer size of him. Never would you have thought he’d pack so much heat. You gently wrap one hand around the base of his cock, slowly stroking his length as you work your lips over his blushed tip. You watched a few videos here and there to sort of have a general idea, trying to remember anything from those as you bobbed your head up and down. Jake’s hands cupped either side of your face as he moaned and whined before grabbing your hair into a makeshift ponytail.
“Is this okay?”
“Mhm.” You hummed with him in your mouth, his dick twitching in response.
“Can I give you head?” He asks, lifting you from his length. You nod eagerly as Jake laid you down on the sofa, kicking off his shorts and boxers. He kisses up the inside of your thighs before hovering over your center. You’re embarrassed by the polka dot cotton panties you wore, but he doesn’t seem to care as he tucks his fingers into the elastic waist. He looks up at you and waits for approval before pulling them down your thighs, tossing them amongst his.
It’s a matter of seconds before his tongue begins exploring you alongside his fingers. Jake’s mouth marries perfectly against your aching bud as he switches between flicking his tongue and sucking. His fingers tease your entrance as he finally pushes a finger in, his mouth continuing its task. You watch him grind his hips against the cushions, his groans growing louder the faster his mouth and fingers move.
“Jake?” You whine, writhing under his touch.
“Hm?” He pulls away, staring at you with his soaked chin and lips.
“Do you wanna have sex?” Bold. The weed was giving you all the courage you could ask for.
“I don’t know where there’s a condom.” He kneels on the cushions in front of you, stroking his length.
“You don’t have one like in your wallet?”
“Why would- I’m a virgin.”
“Right, sorry.” It was kind of implied earlier, but hearing the words leave his mouth felt foreign. It truly astounded you that he was a virgin. People said he got around a lot, it was one of the reasons you felt you had no chance.
“Maybe just the tip? Just to feel?” He shrugged, placing his hands on your knees.
“Yeah… But what if it feels too good? And we wanna keep going?”
“Pull out?”
You knew that was almost always a bad idea, but you let yourself think with the wrong head as you agreed to the idea. Jake pushes your knees apart and slowly brings his hips forward, the pillowy head of his cock rubbing against you. You reach a hand down and situate him at your entrance, bringing your legs up to ease him in. Jake places his hands against the armrest of the couch above your head, his chest hovering over your face as he slowly introduces his length.
“More.” You begged through a breathy moan, wincing as he did exactly as you asked. Jake feeds his entire length inside, his thighs flush against yours as you both revel in the feeling.
“Fuck, this is so… You feel so good.” Jake places a kiss on the top of your head before trailing his mouth down to yours.
The pain of his thick cock stretching your tight pussy quickly subsides as he begins slowly moving his hips back and forth, his lacking rhythm quickly being found. His lips remain on yours, only pulling away from time to time to check if you were okay. Your nails find a home digging into his back each time his hips crashes into yours. With each thrust came the familiar warmth washing over your body causing you to tighten around Jake.
“Are you close?”
“Yeah,” You respond, hardly able to breathe.
“Suck for me, baby.” Jake brings his middle and index finger to your lips, pushing them into your mouth. After you coat his digits with your saliva, Jake brings them to your clit, rubbing circles over your bud. That only brings you closer to your orgasm, one that feels more powerful than any other. The pleasure that rips through you simply could never be replicated by your own fingers again.
“Jake, fuck, mm,” Your moans begin to sound like cries as your body shakes beneath his.
“S’okay, I got you, pretty girl.” He brings his hand back up, wrapping his arms behind your back as he hugs you to his chest. “I’m gonna cum, too.” Jake removes himself from your aching pussy, resting his cock on your belly as he lowers himself and begins thrusting again. It takes seconds for his hot release to paint your skin, being spread by his weight against yours.
“So do you wanna be a rockstar’s girlfriend?” He asks kissing up and down your neck, occasionally sucking on your sensitive skin.
“I would love to.”

If you haven't read the article—which it looks as though many people haven't—I do recommend it, though it will most likely make you froth with rage (it provoked that response in me!). I was able to access the article even without a membership here, on the Washington Post's website.
The woman upon whom the article centres—Jennifer Petersen—has some really really Interesting (/s) views on literature. I am seething with rage about this whole debacle. I think it is a disgrace that the USA has managed to let these sorts of views fester.
But The Thing Is. Despite these highly questionable views that this woman holds, I think it is really really important to remember that she is A PERSON.
Note carefully that this is NOT me defending her views. Just her personhood. Her views are Fucked Up. But she is a person, with her own rich life, and there's an incredible amount of people in the notes saying all sorts of things about her, and I just want to posit that if you treat people you dislike as though they're not people, they're much less likely to want to listen to you.
Awful views, even ones that hurt people, even ones that are disgusting, do not deny someone their personhood—certainly, these views should not go on unchanged, but even the most vile-minded person is still a person.
When you start to dehumanise the people that oppose you, you start to create a moral dichotomy—either someone is Good, or they are Bad. They are With You, or Against You. There is no grey area, no understanding that some people mightn't even fully grasp what they're championing, no understanding that people long desperately for a Cause, that people at vulnerable times are susceptible to the attraction of any Cause, even if it's an ill-advised one.
Of course, there are plenty of people who grasp the severity of their views and their Cause and who do not care, or for whom that is the Entire Point. But it's difficult to know who those people are, and if you approach every situation of opposition assuming that the person falls squarely into that camp, then you will almost certainly alienate anyone who has perhaps been inching away from their views.
I know it makes interactions much easier to have that clear-cut black and white. I am most certainly guilty of jumping to these sorts of assumptions, I will probably continue to do it without even realising it at first; I am not trying to cast myself as a paragon.
Even so, I am going to Try to approach people with a little more understanding, not least because I want people to do the same for me. I have and will make mistakes, and voice opinions that I will later find objectionable, and do bad things, but I want other people to treat me like a person despite this.
What Petersen is doing is absolutely awful. I am 100% in agreement with that. Restricting access to books like this is fucking horrible, and it shouldn't be done (or even allowed).
But I don't think she should die, and I am not going to joke about that, because perpetuating this false binary of Good People and Bad People and saying "well, it's alright if we say the Bad People should die, because they're Bad" is encouraging an environment in which it is in one's interest to prove someone one dislikes is a Bad Person, because then there is no limit on what can be said about this person—especially because anything said against a Bad Person must surely be in service of the Good Cause, not against it.
(IMO, saying that someone (even a horrible person) should die is not serving an anti-censorship stance. The only things it will do are a) encourage aforementioned environment and b) become something for pro-censorship people to point at to say, "Hey, these people are saying awful things to me; if they're not going to approach me like a person, I won't do the same for them".)
Sorry if this is a little disjointed; it's been a while since I've written more than a few paragraphs of opinion ^^" I hope the general gist of it comes across. Take this all with a liberal grain of salt, of course, or discard the notion entirely, but I just wanted to air it :P

SAMMY'S GIRL (ii) | s.kerr
Tumblr media
summary: MORE headcanons on your relationship with sam, read part one here.
pairing: fem!reader x sam kerr
notes: getting out lots of little headcanons because they're just so much fun to do. sammy's girl is my favourite of all my girls (completely bias, sorry) but if you want to see what other 'wags' are in my lil universes, check out my masterlists!! each 'wag' is also going to get their own tag, so check those out for little file facts, or ask questions/send thoughts so we can add to them all!! lots of love
as previously established, you’ve grown up with sam right
you’ve known her through every little phase and every weird obsession she’s ever had
you know her deepest secrets and she knows yours
its honestly quite jarring because you both know each other better than you know yourselves
you’re not at sporty as sam, only relaly dabbling in school netball for carnivals and stuff when they needed extra girls
but sam would try and include you as much as she could in all aspects of her career
if she was having a solo gym day, or just going on a walk
guess whos coming with!?!!!
its you!!!!!!
if she wants a swim at the beach for recovery
she is making sure that you tag along
(not just to see you in your bathers, its for recovery, have some professionalism please)
sam has spent half of her life without you and having to settle for seeing you through a screen
so once you’re in london with her permanently, she is making the most of that
she needs to shower? you’re passing her body wash
she’s hungry? shes making two servings and you’re eating with her
she wants a coffee? youre heading to your favourite spot
you are always around
and sam isn’t having it if you’re not
when she does have to go away?
youre getting texts from guro, erin and millie complaining about her
‘omg she wont shut up about you’
‘if sam doesn’t stop talking im gonna clock her y/n, i won’t be held responsible for my actions’
‘she’s at a new level of pathetic, please come get your girl’
but they understand, they love you too
the entirety of the chelsea squad know you’re at every game
they have a dedicated seat for you in the family and friends section
everyone is away that it’s your seat
millie’s fiancée wards people away from it
he once had to face the consequences of sitting in your seat
he wouldn’t wish an angry emma hayes or sam kerr upon anyone
but its not all about sam
she is just your biggest cheerleader
you were able to finish your degree online and were lucky enough that your credentials in australia carried over to the uk
so you started working there
im picturing sports journalism???????? you were forced to be around sport your entire life that it kinda just became a natural thing
you were so well-informed on so many different sports it was crazy
sam loved plugging anything you were writing
you posted a new article? she’s sharing that shit on her instagram story
you won an award for a piece? she’s at the ceremony
you’re working overtime to get a project finished? she’s ordering you dinner to the office
as much as sam is a professional and very famous athlete
she’s still just sammy to you
and she’s never forgotten that
but to her, you are the best thing to ever happen to planet earth
and she makes sure that everyone knows
living with sam is lots of fun
you relish in all of the time you get to spend together
call it making up lost time
sure, she leaves her stuff everywhere
but you’re guilty of that too
you still hold each other accountable
‘sam you didn’t do the dishes’
‘okay and you didn’t hang out the laundry’
‘… fair enough’
making dinner together is just chaotic
sam can only cook breakfast, she excels at smashed avocado
so she really lets you take the reins on dinners
she succumbs to the sou-chef life
you force her to watch movies with you
she argues and says that tv shows are better
(even though you know she’s completely invested in whatever film you’ve chosen)
you have a little brother who just idolises sam
and he has since the day he was born
he was a classic accident child, a real surprise for your parents
but watching him grow up was just the best
hes the biggest women’s soccer fan you know
he’s up-to-date on all of the woso drama
definitely can tell you the entire timeline and drama of the mcfoord relationship
so when he’s old enough
sam flies him over to the uk all the time
he just loves sam so much
he wears her jersey to every game, saying he doesn’t want anyone elses
(maybe maccas, but that’s a different story)
and sam is estatic to have him there
definitely walks out with him as her mascot on multiple occasions
sam isn’t super touchy feely in front of others
but when shes drunk, she can’t help it
she just wants to hold you and she doesn’t care who’s around to see it
sam really loves watching men at bars or in clubs try to hit on you
just to go and ruin their fun
it’s her favourite pastime really
sam’s extra sappy and clingy when tired
after a big night or a tiring game, she wants to curl up next to you and have you hold her until she falls asleep
sometimes it’s a foreign feeling for you
sam is almost always the big spoon
so you really drink in the feeling whenever she feels vulnerable enough to let you hold her for a change
sam is also extra attentive when you’re not feeling well
she’s so doting and always checking in on you
if shes around, you’re being waited on hand and foot
‘are you okay? do you have a temp?’
‘let me get you some water’
‘i don’t like the sound of that cough, y/n’
if she’s away for a game, your phone does not stop ringing
she’s always texting when she has a spare minute
and if she has more than ten minutes to spare, she’s calling you to see how you are
sam just adores you
the fans adore you even more
the amount of tiktok edits of you and sam are crazy
the one of you in the stands after her goal against england in the world cup went viral
the way you jumped out of your seat and almost threw yourself over the barrier was on the news the next day
the clip continuing as sam ran over to your section, as you both shouted in celebration to each other
or the clips in the matildas doco series of the two of you
the lesbians went feral for that shit
everyone wants what you have
everyone wants you
you are that bitch
sam knows it too
and she’s not afraid to let people know just who you are
because you’re hers
forever and always

About the yassification of GO2.
Warning: the following text is highly critical of the second season of Good Omens. If you enjoyed it, I am happy for you, and a non-negligible amount of jealous as well. Please scroll past before I inevitably rain on your fandom parade.
So, I did the thing. I binged the entire second season of what was, up to now, my favorite show ever, in one sitting. And I have a great deal of things to say, but hardly any of them is positive.
Let me start by saying that I don't mind the cliffhanger or the melancholy ending, like at all. In our era of Marvel apologists and the instant gratification culture, it is necessary for media to persevere and add nuance to romantic relationships. That said, what transpired during the six hours leading up to this sort of unearned climax hardly contains anything remotely close to nuance.
Who are these people? I don't mean the new characters, all of them written as cardboard-cut anthropomorphic personifications of stereotypes, yassified to the point of representation losing its purpose and getting in the way of, you know, actual writing. I mean the protagonists themselves, Aziraphale and Crowley, up to now my favorite characters in the entire world and -up to now- tangled in a love story so beautiful I had, for better or for worse, devoted a large part of my creative output on it, making art, songs, and metas on why what those two entities had was as close to perfect as anyone can hope to find for themselves.
These are not the characters I knew. The characters I knew spent hundreds of human lifetimes revolving around each other in a treacherous yet familiar dance- they both knew the love was there, it was comfortable like an armchair that has taken the shape of the body using it for years. They argued the way old couples do, and of course, like all fictional beings that are counterparts of one another, had differences to settle, but what stood in their way wasn't misunderstanding or miscommunication, in was their fear of Heaven and Hell, and their fundamentally different approaches on how to keep each other safe.
What is all this teen angst? This will-they-won't-they silliness that lacks any nuance, thematic coherence, or literally even trace amounts of understanding of the source material? Where is the dark humor, the quotability, the chaotic overarching plot, the self conscious camp? The season is so cynically written to cater specifically to a certain part of fandom, that I am losing respect for the original work- because if Neil Gaiman doesn't care for these fictional beings, and he evidently doesn't, why should I?
The thematic core of what made Good Omens what it was, had always been the "Love in unexpected places" trope Sir Terry Pratchett knew how to write so well. It had never been about the fantasy, because Sir Terry wrote satire wrapped up in a supernatural package, it had never been about the romance, because when the ship becomes the end instead of the means, the love rings hollow, like artificial light trying to pass as sunshine. The beating heart of GO lies in its philosophy, in the beautiful notion that the agents of two oppressive systems at war have more in common with one another than with their respective oppressors. That being a nobody, a mere cog in a larger machine, says more about said machine than it does about you, and that you can try to break free and build a life for yourself, where a happy ending looks like a dinner at the Ritz with the one you love most.
Shoehorning an underdeveloped "romance" between Beelzebub and Gabriel not only feels like bad fanfic (disclaimer: I like the ship and feel like it could have worked if developed in any capacity, and presented in a more humorous and character-appropriate way. I hate with passion how much they watered down Beelzebub in order to make them stereotypically romanceable, adding the Ineffable Bureaucracy to the ever-expanding list of characters I don't care about anymore.) but also, it muddles and grossly undermines the thematic raison d'être of Ineffable Husbands. If the ramifications for defecting and fucking off with the enemy were a slap on the wrist for the respective leaders of both sides, well surely the system can't be that oppressive after all. And if fear of the oppressive system wasn't, after all, what kept these beings apart, surely these two entities don't like each other as much as we thought. Or rather, one is reduced to a lovesick puppy and the other to a brainless husk of a character, a plot device, a means to go from place A to place B without spending much brainpower on the logistics.
And if these two new people got to kiss I care not, for they are not the same people I rooted for (props, though, to the actors, who gave, somehow, an almost Shakespearean gravitas to their love affair, underwritten and dumbed down as it was. They both love the characters, and it shows in the minuscule yet brilliant ways in which they added nuance where the script had none.)
What was that thing with the lesbians about? Though straight passing, I have always known myself to be attracted to women as well as men, and I am always highly suspicious when an "ally" writer (see: straight, no shade to straight people among which I live because they are, like, the majority) decides to make all characters queer, in the face of real-world statistics and despite NOT being queer themselves. When a person like Nate Stevenson does it they get a pass because writers self-insert and because, when done well, it can carry a message of equality. But when the ally writer does it, unless it is pitch-perfect, I am forced to examine the possibility of them being calculating about it and trying to score representation points, often because they need the rep as a fig leaf to cry homophobia behind when people start complaining about the atrocious plot.
Nina and Maggie were boring. They had no personalities, no cohesive backstories, nothing to make us understand what they are to one another and to the overarching plot ("plot" is used loosely here, for there was no plot: the series ended where it should have started, with six hours of -progressively more offensive to my intelligence- fanfic tropes in a trenchcoat serving as the, well, "plot"). I didn't care whether or not they'd end up together, because I have no idea who they are. The blandness of the dialogue had the actresses, both very talented as evidenced in the first season, grasping at straws with what little characterization they were left to work with, and the "ball" was so unbelievably bad a plot device no amount of suspension of disbelief was ever going to make it right.
The minisodes, though at parts clever and philosophical, felt out of place. This was another narrative choice I had to raise my eyebrows at, because it felt like a bunch of executives sat around a table and watched Neil Gaiman's powerpoint presentation of what made Season 1 financially successful. They were shoehorned in, largely irrelevant to the, eh, "plot", and most of them lasted far more than I personally deemed welcome, or necessary.
What else is there to say? The wink-winks and nudge-nudges to the Tumblr nation? The in-your-face Doctor Who reference? The narratively myopic choice to make Crowley a former archangel? The cheese dialogue, not one bit of which was quotable?
I am distraught. I am grieving an old friend, and a part of my fandom life I cannot, in good faith, return back to after this gross betrayal. I am happy for those who don't see it, because I wish I could love this season past its flaws. However, the writing isn't simply mediocre, it is irrevocably, immeasurably, undescribably bad, so bad I am shocked to my very core, so bad I find it offensive to Sir Terry's memory and everything his own creative output was lovingly filled with.
I am passing all five stages of grief and very much doubt I will return to this fandom. I loved the original story and the characters with all my heart- now the aforementioned heart is broken, not by the breakup or anything as pedestrian as cheap romantic tropes. But because my old friends, my family of fictional beings, are no longer the ones I loved and could relate to.
Deppie out.

BNHA Spoilers:
(Also this is just a complaint post, I'm not very good at explaining my thoughts so please don't try to argue :-( Feel free to add on thoughts but I can't argue )
I have to say I'm not too happy with the leaks, which is hard for someone like me to admit!
As an AceAro person, I was thrilled with the original ending and the fact that no ships were confirmed nor denied, because it left enough for the fans to work with while not shutting anyone down outright
I'm not really a fan of ships, I'll be honest, and I don't really like romance in anime (hard to avoid! I know!), but I never really saw anything wrong with people and their ships and whatnot, and I never minded analyzing some of them for some friends - it was all in good fun after all!
The pairs in the leaks felt like something out of character almost, it didn't feel very... Horikoshi Style I suppose
I do enjoy getting extra MHA content, I always always will, but it isn't a good feeling to me seeing these characters in this anime that focuses on motivation and inspiration and becoming Heroes eventually getting together and dating - I'm not sure, I guess it's the unfitting themes? Something about it unnerves me
I don't know, I've always been adverse to romance my whole life, I always preferred plot and writing instead of two characters getting together (if the plot and writing lead up to two characters getting together? I'm fine with that)
I've seen people saying Uraraka and Deku are canon and I have to say... I don't really feel comfortable with that
I can see it as cute, yes! But I feel that he didn't have as deep a relationship to her as he did with Bakugo (they're always themed around each other, and I found whatever relationship they have with each other very profound, as it ran very deep for a very long time)
Same goes with Toga and Uraraka - it happened over the course of the series, I got to see them learn and struggle together, I got to see them talk about their problems and desires and it felt overwhelmingly different than when it's Deku and Uraraka
I may be biased in the end, I have friends who ship Deku and Bakugo and I have friends who ship Uraraka and Toga, but I've seen some very informative takes that explain it a lot better than me why I think they're such good parallels to each other
I like that Deku and Uraraka are good motivators to each other, Uraraka inspired him in the beginning when he really needed it and he returned it to her as well - but I can't really see it as romantic? Then again, ignore that because I can't see anything in MHA as romantic
I dunno, I feel the romance really overtook the whole plot away from the ending and I'm devastated - that's all what everyone's talking about right now, no?
Deku and Uraraka
Denki and Jiro
The rumor of Bakugo being married (?)
Kinoko and Kuroiro are dating
That's not even all, there could be more that I easily missed
It feels very unsatisfactory, it makes it seem like Love was the entire meaning of the series My Hero Academia when it was not! I'm a big full-circle person, I would have adored a call-back! Something that alludes to the beginning of the series, like what they did with the cover
I want to see how Hero Society is, I want to see Deku and how he coped with the loss of OFA, I want to see Aizawa, I want to see Present Mic! How is he doing, I want to know if he's okay? Is Nezu still the principal? There are less demand for heroes since there aren't as many villains, I want to see that change and its effects! I want to hear more about Vigilante Heroes, and I want to see other Underground Heroes, I want to know more about the Quirk Doomsday Theory, and more about what the world was like when quirks first formed, and I would like to see Hisashi Midoriya! There's so much, see? I would rather talk about that and more over who's dating who ( ・᷄ὢ・᷅ )
It has its good moments, I will always love seeing the (former) class interact with each other, and I really liked seeing the new Hero Rankings, especially with some of the aged up designs for the characters - I can feel how much love Horikoshi has for these characters no matter what's going on in the series
I don't know, don't take me too seriously because I am a biased person after all - I've dropped one of my favorite book series as a kid because my favorite (the most competent) character died, and then every person in the book had gotten together with another person - it was a similar disappointment because it ignored the plot (it was a post-zombie apocalypse series) in favor of looking towards romance once more
Fairy Tail recently came out with their 100 Years Quest, and I know I dropped the anime early on as a kid (in favor of MHA ironically), but coming back to it only to see almost (if not) all characters together in a relationship, some with kids? I know, don't go near anime if you don't like the tropes, I've been told that before - I'm just complaining a little because I didn't expect to see it in MHA so I'm a little shocked
Nevertheless, I'm still looking forward to seeing the rest of the epilogue, I'm always a fan of Horikoshi even if I don't like some things (;^ω^). It's still a treat for me to get more MHA content, I love the art and I love being a part of the fandom -
I'm sure some time in the future I'll even miss the shipping wars that went on lol

Hello, I first off would like to say please take this with a grain of salt. I am very new to the ACOTAR fandom . I am seven chapters into the first book so this is no way a character analysis from anyone in the book. This is just about the fandom from what I have observed online. I really wanted to get this off my chest, and this seemed like the perfect void to yell into.
From what I have seen online, a lot of the people who read the books are trying to read or see it as Harry Potter or Percy Jackson. Where the good guys are always good and they do no wrong. ( though I would argue that even the good guys in Harry Potter and Percy Jackson have done bad things) People need to start reading it or looking at it like Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon. Where the ‘good guys’ do messed up things. ( I don’t believe there’s any true good guys and house of dragon or Game of Thrones that’s why I put it in quotes)
These are all very traumatized characters and thus they will react in the scope of that trauma. I do think that if people stop trying to put these characters into boxes, they would be able to better understand the characters themselves and be able to understand different arguments for and against these characters. And from what I’ve gathered the first three books are being told from Faya’s point of view. So we will always have a biased outlook on these characters because of that.
Once again, please take this with a grain of salt, most of my knowledge from the book series comes from what I have spoiled for myself. I just really wanted to share what I think about the book series and the fandom with someone.
The void welcomes discourse of all kinds! There’s a common thread of absolutism that seems to run through many fandoms nowadays, and depending on the text you read, there are instances where such a reading is encouraged. A Court of Thorns and Roses is a good example of this concept, where in the first few chapters, characters are divided into categories of good and bad. The fact that this occurs in the first three chapters effectively sets the tone for the series and it creates an impression that many readers have not been able to shake off. This is later complicated by Maas’s choice to elaborate on the nuances of the designated “bad” characters later on in the series.
ACOTAR has a nasty case of protagonist-centric morality and the overall quality of the series suffers because of it. It adds to the overarching contradictions of the plot while simultaneously weakening the impact of the emotional conflicts that Maas constructs. As much as the series gestures at themes of feminism and the constraints of abusive relationships, it is all diminished by the author’s need to force a very specific narrative. If more people realized this, the fandom might not be so explosive and divided. One way readers can challenge this narrative is through critical readings and empathy (as you mentioned). Viewing characters actions through a trauma-informed lens is a great way to analyze the story and get more out of it!
I think a case can be made for Feyre being an unreliable narrator, but in my opinion, I’m not entirely convinced by that reading. She’s certainly unreliable in some pretty glaring ways, but the narrative fails to really do anything with it and instead just sinks further and further into her unreliable perspective. This perspective then becomes what the reader understands as canon in the story as opposed to a skewed view that’s informed by a biased protagonist.

Well, as long as we're rafting the temporal streams, might as well head back to Dormont. Got some errands to run in the past.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I'm like 98% sure you're trying to flirt with me but you're too nervous to actually go through with it. Would you please just finally ask me out so I can rock your evening?
Look, be glad I was tasteful enough not to go for the other pun.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
My guy, what could possibly compel you to think I'm not comfortable with basic human conta--
Tumblr media
...you know what, that's fair. I guess I do go out of my way to minimize any and all possible exposure of physical features, don't I?
Anyways, go on and get out of here while I chat with my Lemonfriend.
Tumblr media
Oh, I've always liked you. I'm just also creeped out by you. Two things can be true.
Tumblr media
...huh. If I can die here in Dormont, then... that does make things easier. I was planning on throwing myself on a Tear once we got into the House since you said I can loop forward as well as back, but dying here in town would save me some time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh shit yes. I'd love the ability to call you and chat about what I'm seeing while the rest of the crew looks at me like I've lost my goddamn mind.
Especially since the ultra-secret fourth sign is making a phone shape out of your fingers and then talking on it. That's hilarious.
Tumblr media
This.
This is it.
This is the key to killing myself in Dormont.
...
I should probably wait until I've finished up here.
Tumblr media
OH
ISA
I didn't realize you come up here after we're done. I don't have anything else to talk about but it's great seeing you up here.
Tumblr media
Didn't accomplish as much here as I expected to. But at least we can take another crack at that desk drawer.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Okay between this and the rock switch, I no longer have any confidence in my own ability to do my job. It's distressing that each setback thus far has been the fault of a bad d20 roll on the primary reason that I'm with this party.
Tumblr media
Ha! Rock trap for the Rock key. I get it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Really? They're frozen in time right now but I am looking for a book. You think they might have set it out for me in advance? That would be awfully nice of them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Oh shit. There was a person in town who sometimes thinks they have a sister but can't recall where they moved to. That shit got super weird. This has to be related.
No idea how it's related to our current mission. But. It's gotta be related.
Tumblr media
Always trust in the puns. The puns are life. The puns are the secret of the universe. Those who do not heed their wisdom face the ultimate punishment.
Tumblr media
So the Rock Key was in a room guarded by a huge rock and the Paper Key is in the library. I am. Kind of. Terrified. Of where the inevitable Scissors Key will be found.
Tumblr media
And one Star Crest. Well. *heavy sigh* Shit.
Gonna have to temporally save-scum this one.
Tumblr media
Can't argue with that. Isa's my brofriend-maybe-more so his vote automatically weighs more than anyone else in this--
Tumblr media
................
Fuck.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck
Okay. It's okay. We can work this out mathematically.
Isa, as previously noted, is worth a million points because he's a precious slab of adorableness who flirts with me in the cutest ways imaginable and I'm super feeling it.
Mira, meanwhile, is worth half a million points because she's also awesome and cool and she's our wonderful team leader and I adore her.
Bonnie is worth infinity points because they are a child whose hopes and dreams we are responsible for and I don't want to let them down.
However, Odile is worth zero points because she's mean to me and sometimes makes me want to cry. I still haven't forgotten that crack, Odile. Even though you have because it was in another time loop.
If we add them together, then Team Beauty is worth a million and a half points, but Team Age is worth infinity points.
However my sign is Scissors, and the shape of Scissors forms a multiplication symbol, not a plus symbol. Which means that Team Beauty is actually worth 500,000,000,000 points while Team Age is worth 0 points.
Thus, the objective and entirely unbiased answer is that Team Beauty wins.
Tumblr media
I'm sorry, Bonnie! But math never lies. We must go south. It is our destiny to go south.
Tumblr media
I know you will. It is my destiny to have a future filled with spuds. I accept my fate, but I do not apologize.

"Disrupting Canon"
⚠️SPOILERS for Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (primarily the latter). Like serious spoilers. Please don't engage if you don't want any!⚠️
Incoming mini-essay! (TL;DR - Miguel O'Hara as a character has much to say about grief and guilt, and how it can harm people.)
After watching Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, I am filled with thoughts!!! So many that they can't all be contained here, and I'll probably have to write an actually essay later--however, I wanted to share some of my feelings and ideas about Miguel and his role in the story, specifically.
Miguel is obviously an antagonist to Miles throughout the story. And, I would actually argue that he is an antagonist to everyone, including himself. He's cynical, he's controlling, he projects his fears onto everyone, and he is terrified of change. The scene where he tells Miles that he is the "original anomaly" is a obvious display of all of that.
Despite this, Miguel still isn't a villain; he isn't evil, and he isn't doing any of this because of pure malice. Instead, he's doing it out of fear. Because Miguel is also an anomaly (at least, I think so). Miguel has more in common with Miles than he does the other Spiders, which is why I think he blames Miles for so much as the "original anomaly."
We know, as the audience, that Miles shouldn't be blamed for anything that has happened. It is not his fault that the Spot brought over a radioactive spider from Earth-42; it's not his fault that he got bit; it's not his fault that the original Spider-Man dies; it's not his fault that the Spot became the Spot. Any logical person can see that Miles didn't have any control over these situations; so why can't Miguel?
He can't because Miguel believes that Miles will cause and experience exactly what he did. We know that a major part of why Miguel is so uptight is because when he disrupted canon, his entire world disintegrated before his eyes. And, its a logical fear; as he said himself, is it worth saving one person over ending the world? But this is where things get complicated: does "disrupting canon" actually cause the world to end?
Peter B. Parker, for example, has a daughter. Jessica Drew is pregnant. None of the other Spiders seem to have children, so wouldn't these be an example of canon being disrupted? Pavitr's world still seems to be around (I'm assuming), after we saw canon disrupted. Gwen's father LITERALLY quit his job, meaning he didn't die, and therefore also disrupted canon. But...nothing happened to Gwen's Earth, even though she was gone for several months.
And, the cherry on top, if Miles is an anomaly, how come nothing has happened to Earth-1610 and Earth-42? Why did nothing happen when the original Spider-Man died?
All of these things, I would like to add, are also very different to what Miguel did. Miguel abandoned his world for a new one, taking the place of a version of him that died. He was in the wrong world. And this reminded me of a certain antagonist in Into the Spider-Verse: King Pin.
Throughout the entire movie, King Pin desperately tried to bring another version of his family into his world. In the end he failed, whereas Miguel succeeded. Of course there are major differences, still. King Pin was entirely selfish and didn't care what consequences came with getting his family back, whereas Miguel thought he wasn't hurting anyone. But Miguel still managed to hurt people, and that's what seems to linger for him. The guilt and grief that he caused the destruction of an entire Earth.
And he can't see past it. Despite the many examples we see throughout the movie that go against what he believes, he can't see beyond his own experience. And if he were to admit that Miles could be correct, his understanding of what happened to himself has to be completely reevaluated. All of that grief that he has suppressed, all of the work he's done to "fix" things; all of that changes.
This is what makes Miguel so compelling to me. I don't think what he said to Miles was warranted, but I can understand where he comes from. The other Spiders can too, because a lot of them have already experienced their canon events. It's what makes this conflict so complicated, so interesting.
Of course, we can't be 100% sure about everything until we see what happens in the third film, but it's all interesting nonetheless.
Ultimately, all I want to say is that I love this series, and I can't wait to see where it takes us next!

Interesting that Courtney mentioned Lily being upset at hearing that incest is bad because she made a video in defense of “consensual” incest relationships https://drive google.com/file/d/1Weg46szDiUcxAKbipzDUyqan8t-G8nO4/view (add a dot in place of the space between drive and Google)
i was aware of this video and here's why it's interesting. (please notice the "directed by Tara Callie". Tara, the pedophile, bestiality lover that had an incestuous relationship with her younger sister, that lied to Brittany for years about molesting LO while she was sleeping to get a reaction out of her. the same tara that later turned out to be just LO roleplaying all her fantasies. keep that in mind)
Tumblr media
(also the too long intro that was clearly inspired by Channel Awesome) 1. she starts the video showing a picture of a man who kept his daughter in a basement to keep abusing her and have children with her, that he also abused, as the first image that a lot of people have about abuse. she tries to say "most people think all incestuous relationship involve some form of rape and coercion, but what about the relationships that aren't like that, like when two adults or teenagers for that matter (because teenagers suddenly have the emotional maturity of adults/s) enter into this relationships willingly." apparently the debate wether this relationships (that she even recognize many, many times do include coercion or rape) is the same thing as when people debate the legality of homosexuality (despite how is even rarer to find queer relationship entirely based in abusive dynamics. not that it doesn't happen, but it doesn't happens at all in the same frequency as with incest does. remember that this is LO thinking that she's progressive) 1. it starts with LO making up an anonymous parent being concerned that both of their children came out about being in an incestuous relationship, coming to her... a brony in the internet talking about MLP, for advice about what to do about it. the screenshot of that anon was so out of nowhere and weird that Josh had screenshot it for one of his videos about LO, using it as an example of "LO tries to talk about very serious issue and fails". this father was an anon, but for some reason (that reason being LO made them up) LO will take their word as 100% true and will even make assumptions entirely on her own around this asks that weren't even implied, like assuming that there wasn't any coercion or manipulation in the relationship of these teenagers. the obvious explanation is that she can just say that because she's just writing her own fanfiction and try to make it seem real, but if it were real... this would indeed the most irresponsible, disgusting and absolutely abuse apologist response that LO could have given. even taking out of the way the allegations from Courtney or how this became a pattern of being obssesed over incest through out the years, this is a bad video with bad argumentation that started on a bad premise and LO should feel bad about it. no english teacher would say this was good. 3. speaking of "teenagers for that matter" who supposedly are mature and old enough to take decisions about their life the same as an adult could, the "son" in the relationships is 15 and the daughter is... 14. LO in this video argues that a 15 teenage boy in no way coerced his younger 14 year old little sister into a relationship. why? because that does against the fanfiction that LO has on her head where she managed to succesfully coerce Courtney into commiting incest and is never called out for it as a bad thing. knowing what we do know now about their dynamics, this is not really about convincing anyone. this is just the fanfiction of everything she wishes it was true and then have someone assured her that it was fine, it was okay, that she didn't do anything wrong, that it was all consentual. just like how the majority of Stockholm treats rainbow dash pedophilia as perfectly fine and not at all concerning.
4. following this logic (no coercion, no abuse, simply because LO assumes/wishes there isn't), this is the advice that LO tells this father about what to do about the situation.
Tumblr media
that's right. nothing. this father should do nothing because if he does, it will only make the teenagers insist more on their relationship and also hate their father for trying to separate them. so he should let them do anything they want, potentially allow his son to keep sexually abusing and grooming his daughter, because they won't like it if he tries to stop it. but don't worry, because this is all consensual (that was never established, those bad writer habits of LO assuming that the reader has the same information she does attack again) and surely these teenagers that are under the age of consent know what they're doing. or in the perfect fantasy of LO it does at least. 5. something i didn't notice before... the music that is on the background is "lullaby for a princess", a fan made MLP song that Celestia dedicate to her sister as she reflects on their relationship and her banishing. just... gross in this context. it's literally romanticizing this fictional incest couple even from the background. it's disgusting. 6. "they probably thought long and hard about this. they probably had long talks about this before agreeing to it."... having long talk about something any sibling didn't want until they finally gave in is the definition of grooming. LO's literally making up grooming out of thin air (because those teenagers don't exist) and then try to argue that the grooming is fine because there was "consent" in the end. i don't think LO knows what coercion is, because that's exactly it. if you have to keep talking the ear off someone in order to convince them to do something, that's coercion and that's part of grooming. you're just not using the correct terms. 7. in response to "it's morally wrong", LO says that morality is subjective and varied. that's the mantra of many predators and abusers. just saying.
funny enough, she does say that murder is "the one thing we all agree is horrible to do and only fine in the most extreme of cases"... it's just weird to think that even while doing a "incest between minors is okay" video, LO was still less extreme that how she's now a days. something to think about, i guess.
8. "the only idea of objective good and wrong we have is illegal and legal." is that why LO keeps thinking that threatening people with a lawyer she doesn't have is going to do anything?
9. "nobody wants to be the villain. everyone wants to be the victim". with how much we talk here about how LO wants to be the ultimate victim, more victim than any other victim, this might explain why LO will never admit to any of the horrible things she has done. because she wants to be only the victim, not the villain. she didn't realize then and won't realize now that you can be both. being a victim doesn't mean that you can't hurt others and being a villain doesn't mean that you can't be hurt.
10. "sir, you can only accept their relationship or don't. and if you don't accept it then you'll never be able to fully embrace who your kids really are." i had forgotten how much LO keeps comparing incest with queerness. grooming and coercing a sibling is not "part of who you're", it's a issue you should get seen by a professional.
as my conclusion after rewatching this, i want to say this... even if Courtney had never come out to say a word, just by knowing how obsesed LO is with incest and to try to justify it any way possible i feel like anyone would have come out thinking that these weren't just fantasies at some point. considering that LO made that comic about his "hot sister",why wouldn't you think that this is all related? why wouldn't you be concerned for that sister and what LO might have done to them? all of this just so say... if you don't believe Courtney for whatever reason, then do you really think someone that does a video like this, a comic like that one and openly talks about incest so much as she does is really a safe kind of person?

Anne is such a well constructed episode.  It’s not the best season opener (that’s Bargaining) and it’s not my favorite season opener (probably When She Was Bad), and if you’re feeling cynical you could argue it’s at least partly a pilot for the Angel spin-off series in disguise (since … it is?), but it’s just so well put together and full of so much foreshadowing and symbolism and references to previous episodes.  I really like it and I really liked rewatching it, almost more than I was expecting to.
The last time I watched it I remember being annoyed by the fact it didn’t focus entirely on Buffy in LA.  I thought the scenes set back in Sunnydale were a distraction from her story: I don’t care about Xander and Cordelia’s relationship and I don’t care about the Scoobies' attempt to stake one very obliging random vampire.   And yet, for some reason, this time around I felt a lot better disposed to this half of the episode.  I do still think it would have been interesting to have a whole episode away from Buffy’s friends, and that the Sunnydale plotline is a lot less intense than what’s going on in LA. But I think it’s a mistake to conclude the scenes in Sunnydale are a waste of time or don’t do something important.
The juxtaposition between a Buffyless Sunndale and a Buffy who’s stopped being Buffy felt a lot more deliberate this time around, whether that meant cutting directly to Buffy’s dream about Angel after Willow said she wished she knew where she was, or the way the big, noisy crowd at the first day of school hard cuts to Buffy sitting alone in silence in her tiny rented room, or Joyce asking Giles “and who exactly is she?” right before Lily comes back to the diner to ask Buffy for help.  And, having set up this pattern, the fact that we never once cut back to Sunnydale while Buffy and Lily are trapped in the hell dimension suddenly feels weirdly claustrophobic, and makes that final jump back to Joyce at home at the end work a lot better than it otherwise would.
I also really really like Lily.  As Chanterelle in Lie To Me she wasn’t really given much to do, but Julia Lee is really good here as – not quite a proto-Faith, but another alternate Buffy who’s quietly hinted to have a pretty horrible backstory.  That pause after Buffy asks her “what do they call you at home?” speaks volumes, as does the way she assures Buffy she wouldn’t tell anyone about who she is or where to find her because “I know how it is when you’ve got to get lost”, or how quickly she resigns herself to believing they’re in hell later because she “always knew she belonged here”.
And, almost at the same time, she’s also a great comic foil (asking Buffy if she can “come with her” right after agreeing that they should split up, or coming back to apologize to her when she's meant to be getting away "in case we die").  I love that she gets to push Ken off the balcony mid-speech (in fact, I almost think the episode would be stronger if that really was the last we saw of Ken: I’m not sure his reappearance later just to be killed by Buffy herself really adds much).  And I love the argument about Rickie’s death (that isn’t really about Rickie) that she has with Buffy: “he didn’t do anything wrong, why would this happen to him?” versus “These things happen all the time. You can’t just close your eyes and hope they’re going to go away.”
I really like the fact that Lily (as Anne Steele) goes on to be a minor character on Angel, but I do wish we’d had some hint that Buffy really had stayed in touch with her after this episode the way she promises she will.  Once again I am imploring the Buffy writers, decades after the fact, to please let Buffy have a few more friends.
(Oh, and, look: neither Buffy nor Lily get magically pregnant and die this episode!  The possibility doesn’t even come up!  Maybe this wasn’t a stealth Angel pilot after all...)
And I've not even touched on the wonderfully unsubtle foreshadowing of Ken’s repeated lines about kids “getting old fast here”, or the way this episode almost acts as a proto-Bargaining (with Willow very clearly taking charge of the group in Buffy’s absence, even taking on the Slayer role in the pre-credits scene), or Oz throwing his stake at a retreating vampire and then ruefully noting that “that just never works” as it bounces harmlessly wide, or just how much everyone in Sunnydale seems to miss Buffy in their own different ways, or Larry insisting this is the football team’s year if only they can “keep discipline, maintain focus and not have quite so many mysterious deaths”.  Or that last shot of Buffy back home, and how it’s deliberately framed from her mom's perspective rather than her own.
Honestly, I just think Season 3 is so good and I love it so much (I furiously remind myself, knowing that Dead Man’s Party is up next and will try its best to convince me I’m wrong…)

cw hallucinations, intrusive thoughts
I always believe I hallucinate and it is getting so hard on my nerves. I see something unexpected in the corner of my eye and think "You are hallucinating" and when I turn my head I see, that there is really something. Like now I was leaving the bathroom and I thought my bf was on his pc but he was laying on the couch in the dark. I could only see his face being illuminated by his smartphone screen. So I saw that and thought I was hallucinating until he said "hey". And I was so shocked. I don't even know, why I have this expectation in my mind, I didn't even ever hallucinate?? Probably some gaslight "this never happened, you just imagine it" rests.
In all fairness, I occasionally, when I walk around, eyes on my smartphones screen, greet a pile of clothes because I think it's my dog. This really doesn't help. While it is somewhat natural, small, very fluffy dog who just lays down wherever she wants, my mind then always goes "Ha, see, you hallucinated! I always told you! You are in the right age for schizophrenia to start, most pears with your disorders have hallucinations too, see, you weren't spared!".
My problem seems rather intrusive thoughts but those are not my usual ones, with which I can "argue" or consider how to behave. They are just quickly one-liners. And they kick at an open door. I don't know how to make this stop.
Hi anon,
I'm so sorry that you've been experiencing this. This must be really unsettling and distressing to go through.
While I wasn't entirely sure what this might be, I looked some things up and found this article talking about Responsibility OCD and fears about psychosis. It says "Individuals may have overwhelming intrusive thoughts related to psychosis, hallucinations, or acting outside of their control."
Please know you're not alone. "Intrusive thoughts of any nature are nearly universal, and it can be difficult for someone dealing with these intrusive thoughts to know the difference between real signs of psychosis and anxiety resulting from these thoughts, especially because they can both cause physical sensations such as headaches, lightheadedness, and difficulty concentrating.
In psychosis-themed OCD, you may find that your thoughts are increasing in distress and frequency, no matter how many times you try to stop them. Your compulsions may also be increasing in frequency and occupying more and more of your time. Another indicator of OCD is an inability to disengage from these thoughts, no matter what you do when they pop into your head."
While you may not necessarily be dealing with OCD, these things still seem to speak to what you're experiencing.
If you can afford or access it, and if you don't have it already, I recommend looking into getting a therapist. A mental health professional could help explore this with you and find ways to cope with these episodes.
I hope I could help. If anyone has any comments or suggestions, feel free to add on. Please let us know if you need anything.

short summary of the absolute chaos in here: thanks to kazuo’s own problems that he refused to get help for, leon now needs: so much therapy, like three different medications, and someone to tell him that his daddy issues aren't his fault. please help him.
kazuo is an incredibly sentimental person, but not very open-minded. he, like his son, latches onto people and crumbles if they leave. when his wife died shortly after childbirth, he hoped leon's existence alone could remind him that a piece of her was still there. leon has her eye color, he has her natural hair color, even his face shape is similar and i can explain why that's an issue in a second. while leon resembles his mother, his mentality and emotions are surprisingly similar to his father. kazuo protects his thoughts and emotions from others by keeping things locked up and he can't stand change. meanwhile, leon watched how badly that affected his father and attempted to do the opposite. he didn't want to turn out like that or be alone, so he pushed himself into several circles of people and insisted they come to him with their problems. this tactic, though, still ended up in him locking away his own feelings so he can properly help other people. he has to be open to change so he can better understand and help people. and that's where he and kazuo clash.
kazuo locks things away and isolates himself from people so he won't get close to anyone else and therefore it won't hurt as bad if he loses them, and leon locks things away and surrounds himself with people so he can make up for how lonely kazuo indirectly made him feel. kazuo hates change, leon can't stand monotony. polar opposites.
so, back to how leon resembles his mother. when he first started wanting to stand out for attention from others ( which also resulted from being emotionally neglected at home ), he demanded that things begin to change. the thing that started the spiral downward was simply him deciding he wanted to dye his hair. it wasn't that big of a deal to leon, but kazuo was so determined to keep what few scraps of victoria he had left that he insisted leon reconsider. and leon can't handle being told "no", so he did what any rebellious kid would do and he argued back. kazuo refused to explain his reasons why, leon demanded to get an answer, and neither would budge at first. finally, though, they made a deal: kazuo would take leon to get his hair dyed if he started listening more. and leon, with no intention of listening more, agreed so he could get his way.
along with that, he started skipping baseball practice, which didn't sit well with his dad either. in his mind, leon was going against everything victoria would've wanted for him ( which isn't true for several reasons but that's a topic for another day ) and never stopped to think if what he wanted for leon was what he actually needed.
his decisions went against what kazuo wanted over and over again, and tensions kept rising. leon kept changing, and kazuo kept failing to adapt. they both just kept getting more and more bitter, and finally, about a year later it all boiled over into the first time leon ever raised his voice at someone else in anger. kazuo hit him with " i didn't raise you to act like that, " leon retaliated with " implying you raised me properly at all? ", etc etc, and that is what gave leon the idea to change his name entirely. up until then, leon was also a kazuo, so he didn’t even hesitate to rub salt in the wound and change one more thing out of pure spite. he was perfectly aware that if anything would truly hurt, it would be to just ditch the only thing he and his father had in common.
he didn't intend to keep the name, but " leon " was a better alternative to " kazuo, " and it stuck by accident. it finally gave him a sense of individuality, and he could thrive on the spite as a bonus.
that said... i do want to add that, despite kazuo's behavior, he did truly love his son. he did genuinely want the best for leon. at least, at first. eventually it did turn into him just wanting to get the upper hand, but it wasn't always like that. both of them did and said things that hurt the other, but they could have been fine had they just sat down and actually listened to each other. leon still wouldn't change who he was, but explaining his side would in turn lead kazuo to realize just how horribly the way he acted actually affected him, and they both could have ended up apologizing and forgiving each other.
unfortunately, they never do get that chance to make up because kazuo—as well as leon's aunt and uncle—all succumb to despair and end up dying in different grotesque ways so. that definitely weighs on leon's conscience!!

SEVEN DEADLY SINS TAG
Thanks @the-golden-comet [x], @sableglass [x], and @tragedycoded [x] for the tag! ♥️
Rules: Which of your OCs would you assign to which of the seven deadly sins and why?
Tumblr media
LUST
Lian has a lust for power and is willing to do anything to obtain it, but I cannot go into further detail on that since it would be a major spoiler.
GLUTTONY
Vangilyne has expensive taste and a tendency to overindulge in what she enjoys. I'm still trying to figure her out as a character, so I don't have much left to add, but she suits this sin.
GREED
Nykia wants to have dominion over the entire world. As the spawn of the primordial Darkness, she feels entitled to it. The world had come into existence without light, so it's only fitting for it to return to its natural state. She views lesser beings as toys for her to break and bend to her will, and nothing would please her more than to take them all from the other deities.
SLOTH
Some in the wos universe would argue Damaeris has shirked his responsibilities, but not for lack of trying or care at least in the beginning. He is a Cassandra figure of sorts, cursed with visions of the future but with no one to believe him. And once everything happens as was predicted, he is often appointed by others to take the fall; a sacrificial lamb used to absolve them of their own blame and guilt. Over time he grew tired and traumatized by this and set off on his own, only to run into Guinevere years later and be forced to confront yet another one of his visions with her at its epicenter. He knows that he should warn her of the upcoming devastation, but he's been wronged by his own kind before. How can he be sure it will go well this time around?
WRATH
Silas has a strong desire to inflict pain and suffering onto those who have harmed him as a child. This need for vengeance has consumed him to the point where he cannot tell when this path ends and where his life is finally allowed to start. He has clung to this anger for so long that he cannot even begin to understand who he might be without it. Perhaps obtaining inner peace will never be an option available to him, leaving him no choice but to become a monster in turn.
ENVY
Taliesin is the second son of King Balis, the spare. Whilst Radan gets all the love and admiration of their father, he is left with nothing but his neglect and abuse. He wants nothing more than to be his brother's equal, but the lack of affection over the order of his birth and his notice of Radan's dislike of being in the spotlight breeds resentment in his soul. Taliesin wants to take his place, as he would have a better appreciation for his brother's position as heir to the throne.
PRIDE
Alinar was once considered a child prodigy, as he excelled in magic far beyond the capabilities of his peers at the time, and the praise he received bolstered his ego. Over time, however, he begins to stand out less and less as those around him become his equals. He still craves being the center of attention, but there is no longer something special about him and he cannot stand it. This need to prove himself causes him to plunge the angel/reni war into further chaos in an attempt to create a self-fulfilling prophecy and come out on top. Surely if the world becomes unstable enough, a deity will feel compelled to take on an avatar once more in order to balance the scales, and who better than himself is able take on this burden of power?

Tagging (no pressure): @ashfordlabs @captain-kraken @snowthornes and an open tag for anyone who’d like to join!
