One thing that I really liked in IDW 2 was the concept of Going Immersant.
Given the immensely long average lifespan of Cybertronians, it makes sense:
If nothing kills you, and you live long enough to have experienced all of what you feel you reasonably can in this lifetime, and you feel content with the life that you have had, and it seems time to retire--
--Why not return your knowledge and the entity of your self to the core of your planet, where your energy and your components can be reused and your memories and knowledge can be subsumed into the greater whole?
Plug in with the stray cables that stick out of the cavernous expanses deep beneath the surface of Cybertron, let yourself get situated, and allow yourself to daydream as the crystals grow around you and gradually consume you. It is not painful. It is a process of sharing.
Each daydream then enters the great memory bank of Primus, at the heart of the world, the core of life itself for your species. Your experiences become part of the eternal record of experienced Cybertronian life. You join your God himself, frame and processor, as you combine with him within the physical form of your planet.
Primus created you, and as you are subsumed into the crystalline forms that surround you, you will go on to sustain Primus in some way. An unending cycle.
Perhaps you feel something, leeching up from deep within the crystal mass, some unique energy meeting you halfway, the cables that snake their way into your ports like vines carrying some ancient data, older than yourself, older than the Rust Sea, older than the Hydrax Plateau, older than the Titans.
Maybe you cannot decipher it, yet. But it comforts you. It reminds you that you are not alone, after your visitors have gone. Where there is digital noise, there is something to produce it. You will meet it soon--
--After countless years of a peaceful rest, knowing that at the end of your endlessly long existence, your life will go on to benefit others.
And for as long as you are able, you still remain present, as well. Just not above, on the surface. For some time, others can still come and visit, speak with you, consult with you-- Although as your memory banks purge into the greater whole, you begin to falter in this waking realm.
And that is OK; To rejoin with Primus and re-enter the Well of All Sparks as an ancient elder, a repository of experience and wisdom, is to become a teacher to all. Even in peaceful, gradual death-- And even then, your energy and materials and thoughts remain somewhere, deep within the planet.
Returned. Recycled.
Eternal, in some shape or form.
It's just a really beautiful concept.
Without any natural death, Cybertronians have the option to simply return to Primus, return to the core of the planet, in a half-waking state.
At peace, gracefully and with intent.
All of what they have experienced and all that they are, all of their memories and feelings, all of the metals and compounds that make up their frame and armour and protoform, all of it can be taken in and absorbed.
The option is there, to emerge once more.
But for most, this is the final calling.
To go immersant is to enter peace, to become a living state of meditation until the very end for you as an individual. To have full agency over how you pass on, to make the decision and consciously know. To be happy with that. To relax into your fate, as you see fit.
To make the decision to be recycled, to contribute all that you are, to return your energy to the crystalline matter that fuels your world and your people and your God, who in turn fuelled you and will thus go on to fuel all those subsequently churned out by the Well.
To merge with your living planet on an atomic level, on an esoteric level.
I wonder if the fully immersant aren't dead in the traditional sense. Perhaps they are offline, to those in this world. Perhaps their frame is vacated as their data is absorbed. But that data is not lost, necessarily.
It's just a very beautiful end of life option for Cybertronians, and I do hope the concept is revisited in some form in the future.

Despite Orion not being an archivist in this universe, Codexa will always be with him. It's a pity that he can't remember the face of someone to whom he can always turn in a difficult moment.
If only Codexa was in Transformers One. Young Orion would really need someone who can lead and mentor him in this cruel world. Now being a young Prime, he has to deal with responsibilities all alone.

what happened to codexa in your au?
Tumblr media
After the Great Exodus, Codexa became essentially a travelling space nun that provides counsel, guidance, and occasionally patching up to do when she has time. As an acolyte of Solus Prime, she's also handy in smithing. Wields an ancient Forgehammer, the closest thing to the real-deal Forge of Solus Prime. Is also very depressed, much like her son, perhaps even more so, considering how rough her life has been ever since her hubby got arrested for a crime he didn't do
Because no in the Pax family is allowed to be legally happy :)

This fem encouraged Orion’s dreams and hopes, you telling me he didn’t love his mentor like a carrier?
-and then that fem retired immediately when the war was brewing. Legend. Be like Codexa. Jump ship.

Why this Orion Pax is so cute? He was such a soft boi filled with so much uncertainty about the universe, his plant and himself.
Despite being part of literal almost immortal mecha species, somehow this Orion Pax feels himself being small and insignificant to the grand universe. And Despite being a Senator, this Orion Pax still has that average joe to him.

And here we have the cover for Chapter 13 of Addendum (an IDW1 Arcee novel fanfic): Gender Diaspora. This cover was super fun to work on with @VansZero (discord) love how it turned out and how they depicted the Everbright (that would be that blocky gray and blue ship in the upper right corner), and he made Road Rage's expression so memeable lmao we adore this piece. Here's the same cover in colors without the title, and in black and white:

Also yes, the symbols on the Delta Leaguer's torsos? That's the Delta Forge (not actually named in the fic) symbol, ie the symbol of the Delta League (also known as the Anti-Vocation League), a reclamation of Solus Prime's forge hammer. cyan=tears pink=blood. Here's a zoom in on Arcee's and our rough draft for it that we gave VansZero:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This symbol was first described in Chapter 2:
"Among the wreckage in the maintenance shed, I saw the agreed-on mark for the rendezvous: a cyan-pink infinity loop with two golden cylindrical hammer ends stylized after Solus Prime’s Forge hammer on each side of the loop.
The chosen transformations of spark and blood… Trans-Mutate sure is good with symbology. I rolled up around the tracks on my treads, stopped at the door, and laid out a tide of slow notes from my car horn."

I'm not sure if you know this but Optimus and Megatron had moms in the Transformers IDW 2019 comic run. Optimus had Codexa, and Megatron had Termagax. If you wish to learn more about them use go to their tfwikis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I can’t help but to ask, did they exist in the One Spark AU, if so how did they affect Optimus and Megatron, and are they still alive.
They probably do exist but are kinda different.
Both would be miner bots that were assigned sparkings to raise. And both probably would have met some kind of tragic end that would shape Orion and Dee into who they would eventually become.
Codexa was rather cold but still caring, instilling a strong sense of selflessness into Orion. All or nothing was the code she lived her life by, save anyone you can, and if you can’t? Try harder. I image she died in a cave collapse when Orion was still young. A heroic sacrifice as she shaved other in the process, but also made it clear to Orion that he needed to get everyone out of the mines. It didn’t matter what it took or what he gave up in the process, it was his duty to protect those who couldn’t protect themselves.
Termagax was a bit more warm I feel, instilling a strong sense of self worth and confidence into a young D-16. “No one is coming to save you, so you have to save yourself” was what they lived by. He was killed during a riot between miners and the officers that kept them in line, this instilled a sense of resentment in Dee. The world is cruel and it will eat you up the first chance it gets, if he wanted to be safe, he needed to find out how to control the world.
There is more to Orion and Dee’s childhoods in the mines but that’s all for now

Reference to mothers in Earthspark?
While the writers have confirmed that they have taken inspiration from the IDW comics, it would not be surprising if there were references to the mothers (or so-called guardians) of some characters.
Whether canon or headcannon, I will explain why this could be considered a reference due to its similarity to the comics.
The House of Termagax
Tumblr media
When the Terrans face off against Mandroid, the villain attacks them aboard his mobile "lair." Although some might think this is a reference to Howl's Moving Castle, it could actually be a reference to Megatron's mother's "house."
In the comics, Megatron seeks to kill his mother, Termagax. She is smarter than him, so she flees in her mobile "house" to avoid being caught.
If we compare it to Earthspark, when the Terrans go to get Mandroid to rescue Megatron and Dot, they discover that his lair has disappeared. They don't know how he did it, but when they manage to find him, they discover that his "lair" can walk, discovering how he managed to escape.
Reference to Codexa
Tumblr media
When Hashtag and No meet the Titan Terratronus, they find her fused with the mountain.
Interestingly, this scene bears resemblance to the IDW comics where Orion Pax talks to his mother Codexa for advice.
If we think about it, both characters tell the characters the history of the planet and give them advice about life.
Cryak's Madness
Tumblr media
For some reason Starscream knew of the Titan's existence, carrying out his plan to take control of his body.
In the episode, we are shown how Starscream was driven mad by the power of the corrupted Emberstone. This is somewhat similar to his encounter with his mother Cryak in the comics.
In the comics, Cryak was trapped inside the body of a monkey. No one knew of her whereabouts until her son Starscream found her by accident.
At first, Starscream tries to help her to be free but she ends up betraying him causing both to have a battle inside the monkey's body, with Starscream being the winner.
On Earthspark, Starscream takes control of the Titan by fusing his arm with the Emberstone. Interestingly, his fused arm resembles Cryak's arm.
Another thing to keep in mind is that both characters were locked up in one place for a long time. In this case, Starscream was locked up in the GHOST prison.

Terraformers AU: Parental coding/protocol
Masterlist
Parental coding is something new for many mechs in my tf AU! in the sense that they already have something called mentor coding.
Mentor coding is the information makes activate when they are in charge of a young bot or a protoform, like in the new version of IDW tf comics where older bots adopted recently forged bots when they get out of Vector Sigma, any bot could've mentor coding but how they use it or what they do with it varies from one another, like Codexa (OP's mentor/mother) that loved OP so, so much, or Starscream's mom, who used her coding to use SC to her own benefit.
It's something similar in my AU! Most mechs have the normal mentor coding (the one above) and the mechs that spark bounded with an organic (specially humans) tend to have a derivative of the original mentor coding, called parental coding that was discovered by Perceptor (Percy scanned and Brainstorm almost dissected Rodimus) when he first noticed his strange behavior.
Parental coding is almost the same that the original one, but what makes it start is not the willing act of the mech downloading it or initiating it, they just get it and it's still debatable whether it happens when the spark makes contact with the organic partner or with the Terraformer sparkling.
When Rodimus had Sunset many just thought that he was being overreacting, like okay the kid is way more like a organic now but his derma will get harder with time, for Rodimus is a big no, he will protect his kidand and his conjunx, and it's normal to some point for a normal mentor but thinking that Rodimus can be quite exaggerated everyone passed it as normal before one human said that Rodimus looked like a first time father, apparently Rodimus is denominated as a sire since his parental coding (instincts) takes over him to protect his family as a whole.
Then there was Jazz, whose coding didn't hit him as hard as others in his relationship with his sparklings, it happened with his conjunx, when Mariah was old enough to ingest energon by herself he was... trying to impress his partner more times than ever, the very same Jazz admitted his desire to have another bity soon and that desire was showed by his natural cool and suave behavior multiplied by 5, the strange idea of reproduction engraved in his processor even when he knew it was impossible and what he needed to do was go with his conjunx to a hot spot, still, he and his conjunx enjoyed the outcome of his parental coding.
When Blurr had his first sparkling, a human baby, he goes with the flow of it, normal mentor coding kicking in his processor, guiding him alongside the videos about human parenthood, but when Ferventi Typhoon was forged? Every sense was thrown out of the window, even his own conjunx for a few years was almost ignored, his list of importance going from his sparklings in the very top, then his conjunx, then their necessities, then him and so on, many of his friends laugh when they remember this since he was the most self-centered mech they had ever meet, and now they see him carrying the little beans and acting like those kiddos are his whole world, he's been hit hard by his coding once again when Ripley and Ty were old enough to be out of the house and then his list changed again to center on his conjunx, he knew they couldn't conceive with sex/interface but couldn't take off the idea of his processor much like with Jazz.
Prowl, well, it's something that he will forever keep in a corner of his mind and deny to the very end, his coding seem to have activated since he meet his future conjunx, developing a sense, or urgency, to provide, did he found supplies or consumibles? He gets those for later, did you mention to be in need of something? The very same thing appears and oh surprise, Prowl has it in his servos and doesn't have a necessity for it, you can have it, he wasn't exactly subtle even if he believed that he was, this gets worse when you are finally his conjunx and it escalated when Chainbreaker was forged, he didn't develop that "need to sex/interface" ("sexy times" like Brainstorm called it) to try to proliferate but it could also have relation to be in charge of CB and be in alert all the time by his own past or whatever organic being CB created.
With Bumblebee it was more or less kind of mild, when he started to take care of Rosalinde everything was fine and his mentor coding was working as usual, no changes when he married you or when he spark bounded, when Blood Horn was forged Bee did notice the need to keep his family more safe, but that was normal right? Indeed, but it wasn't normal to storage so much organic food or make something similar to a nest in his resident area (he did a mess of blankets and pillows) where you couldn't even move with the little sparkling I your arms while Rosalinde tried to escape such a mortal trap (she kept on sleeping every second since it was so comfy), getting food there and overall being quite a good conjunx.

I finally decided to flex my artistic abilities and make some Tfp kiddo Cybertronian designs. I spent nearly three hours designing, fine lining, and coloring these, but it turned out well so whatever.
Rafael is the first set of images. I mainly took inspiration for him from IDW Rung. Miko is the second set and if you can't tell, she is a nice mix of IDW Starscream and Codexa with a hint of Drift thrown in there because why not. And Jack is the last set; his design mainly came from a IDW Megatron and an aligned continuity Orion Pax design that I liked.
