It wasn't often, but Samatoki did sometimes get a guy or two in his line at MTC's handshake events. Kids, mostly. High school students, or even younger boys who got into the group with their moms or older sisters. He got the occasional salaryman-type as well, though Rio tended to draw more of those, much to Jyuto's immense displeasure. It was always kind of funny to see Jyuto shoot withering glares at anyone he thought was holding Rio's hand too long.

Point being, it wasn't all that weird for a guy to come in for a handshake.

But on this day in particular, Samatoki did raise his eyebrows at the guy who was shown into the tent near the end of the event. Jyuto and Rio were still busy smiling for the last few fans in their respective lines, so Samatoki was the only one paying attention as the eyebrow-raising guy approached his table.

It wasn't the fact that he was a big, tall guy that made Samatoki take special notice of him. It was more about the way he was dressed.

Dark tee, baggy pants. Nothing odd there. Casual, but fashionable. What was curious was the way the guy had most of his face covered, with a black face mask and a pair of dark sunglasses.

He would have looked almost suspicious, almost stalkerish, if not for one thing.

Those were Samatoki's sunglasses.

And this was no stalker.

Just an idol in disguise.

Samatoki's very own idol, in a not very good disguise, to be precise.

As soon as Ichiro stopped in front of Samatoki's table and lifted a hand, Samatoki grabbed it and pulled. Hard. He heard a belligerent squawk from Jyuto and a short chorus of surprised shrieks from the girls in the tent as he tugged Ichiro into a hug.

"Samatoki?!" Jyuto sputtered. "You can't—you're not supposed to—oh, for heaven's sake. It's Yamada, isn't it."

But Samatoki wasn't really paying attention to any of that. He was more busy taking in the soft laugh Ichiro breathed in his ear.

"How'd you know it was me?" Ichiro whispered.

"You can't seriously think I wouldn't recognize your fluffy hair and sexy arms anywhere," Samatoki whispered back. "Besides, you're wearing my sunglasses."

Ichiro was grinning when he pulled back and tugged his face mask down to rest under his chin. He lifted the sunglasses he was wearing up and off as well, turning them around and planting them on top of Samatoki's head instead.

"My photoshoot ended a bit early," Ichiro said. He gave a wink and a little wave to the girls who had been at Jyuto and Rio's tables, the ones who were feverishly whispering 'oh my god it's Yamada Ichiro', before turning back to Samatoki and continuing, "Thought I'd come pick you up for dinner."

Samatoki tried to fight back an answering grin in order to look a little disapproving, but he was pretty sure he only wound up looking fond and maybe even a bit smitten. "What poor girl did you steal a handshake ticket from?"

"I would never do that!" Ichiro protested with a laugh. "I bought, like, sixty copies of your new CD. Which means I get fifteen minutes with you."

Samatoki checked the time on the phone. The handshake event was due to end in just over ten minutes, which meant Ichiro must have been the last 'fan' in his line for the day.

And that, in turn, meant Samatoki could just leave.

"You're the best, Ichi." Samatoki could've kissed Ichiro right there, but settled for tousling his hair instead. "But I think I can give you a little more than fifteen minutes."

"Oh, yeah?" Ichiro caught his lower lip between his teeth and flashed Samatoki a positively coy grin, as if they were alone in that tent. "Like what?"

Samatoki waited until Rio and Jyuto's fans were led outside before dragging Ichiro closer by the front of his shirt, and whispering, "Like a night you'll never forget."

i've been so full blown obsessed with them for so long that i don't even know how to articulate all of the things i feel but this is a delightful question thank u and i will do my best to stay coherent

in no particular order

1) i mean look at them

like this is of course not the main thing that draws me to them but they are very aesthetically pleasing together lmao and why lie? that's definitely one of the things i love about them. the dark haired one and the white haired one is a combination that simply does not miss

of course it's not just their hair colors either, i love a good height difference ship but for smic i love that there's just a 1cm difference between them. the visual effect of ichiro growing throughout their knowing each other is so so so good to me. like him being quite noticeably shorter than samatoki in their tdd days, when he looked up to samatoki (literally) and idolized him, to being almost samatoki's height in the present when they're both leaders of their own divisions, more like equals than ever before

2) their unique ability to understand each other

ok so i'm actually very big on the family bonds (*komachan voice* KIZUNA) between the divisions, and i absolutely do not think ichiro is the only person who can understand samatoki and samatoki is the only person who can understand ichiro. i see them as both having many significant people in their lives, like yes i'm perpetually unwell about them but i also think they aren't each other's only important person

that said

i think both of them being big brothers thrust into a position where they have to essentially raise their younger siblings is a point of connection that really compels me. i think ichiro doing his best to take care of jiro and saburo is something samatoki can respect about him

and i like what that can mean for their tdd days. ichiro always being the oldest, and finally having someone he can look up to like a big brother. samatoki so used to being a big brother that it just comes so naturally to him to take care of ichiro too

kind of unrelated to this point but i've always found it sooooo funny to think of like what if they bonded over samatoki being like "my parents are dead" and ichiro being like "wow mine too" but then

3) the growing they have to do

i looove a good friends to lovers story, i looove a good enemies to lovers story, but i LOOOOOOVE a good friends to enemies to lovers story like holy shit

this is possibly the thing that compels me most about them, like the fact that they were so tight and then completely broke down? having to work back to good from that? mwah i can't get enough of that

and i think that breaking down is really important to them, it's not just unnecessary drama. in their tdd days, the way ichiro idolized samatoki was so unsustainable in the long run. he had to be a little broken to see that samatoki's only human too, that he isn't all powerful, that he's just a man. i think it's so important for ichiro to see that samatoki is just a man before he can love him like a man, rather than some sort of god figure

samatoki has his growing to do as well, of course, and i looove to see a version of him that really struggles with that. like i am obsessed with this hc of him going from being hellbent on being respected by ichiro to realizing he's like uncomfortably horny about being disrespected by ichiro lmao

4) bbmtc famblyyyyyy

alright this isn't technically smic-specific but i am really really obsessed with this future where bbmtc are one big family, and i can so easily see it happening when smic are together

samatoki is such a big brother that it would come so naturally to him to be a big brother to jiro and saburo too. and i think nemu would be a really good big sister and friend to them too. plus uncles rio and jyuto! jyuto maybe insisting he is nowhere near old enough to be anyone's uncle lol

my old hc before jiro changed what he called ichiro was that jiro would one day call samatoki aniki and i still grrrrrrrr want that to happen but i do like the canonical growth in jiro too so it's all asdlkfja;kldfj I WANT IT BOTH WAYS

anyway. i guess to relate this to smic, i love that they would both care for each other's families like they're their own (and rio and jyuto are family of course)

5) they're so intense about hating each other that i can easily imagine them being just as intense about loving each other

Okay honestly? I really believe that they’re still very much... well, you know, the three of them together you feel?

Like they would be in groups of course, but they either started as solo artists or were sought out after the Beatles-

I mean One Direction-

I mean The Dirty Dawg split up because of some internal conflict

Ichiro would obviously be the first one to like pass that audition and get scouted by a talent agency

And during his TDD days he grew detached from his brothers? Like supremely detached, like he barely sees them anymore because of his hours (and we know the idol life is quite taxing on the human soul)

Anyway, after the TDD split, it was a very nasty contract battle with a ton of lawyers and money and all that

But Ichiro managed to get a solo career and all that, but he missed being in a group and he saw the obvious talent in his brothers

So they basically became the jonas brothers

Ichiro is lead vocals and Jiro and Saburo are vocals too, but Jiro is more on dance and Saburo is like a jack of all trades kind of guy

So Jiro has always looked up to Ichiro and wanted to be an idol like him because it’s his dream to be so

And then Saburo also, because obviously

They were bitter about how like Ichiro wouldn’t notice them no matter how hard they tried, or he would dismiss them because he’s busy

But now, Ichiro pays way more attention and used his successful solo career to propel the three of them forward

So yeah, Jiro would be an awesome dancer, getting these solo moments and all that

Then Saburo would be the high note hitter? Just because he can you know

Mad Trigger Crew

Samatoki had an ongoing solo career during TDD, but like he focused more on TDD

So after the entire split, Samatoki just continued his solo career, but then by accident he discovered Jyuto and Riou (like passing by on the street vibes for Riou and seeing the guy dance on the street, and for Jyuto for Samatoki being a general delinquent and he ends up in the precinct for a bit and Jyuto sings when he’s bored)

Samatoki was very impressed with Riou’s street dancing so he asks the guy to come to his talent agency and all that

As for Jyuto, when Samatoki was arrested for just being Samatoki and being violent and all that, Jyuto was stuck watching him and at one point Samatoki is bored and asks if Jyuto can sing and so on and so forth

Anyway, they formed Mad Trigger Crew and I think they’d be more dance than vocals? Like their group would be known for dance rather than vocals

Like okay, their vocals are super duper good, but their dancing is just stellar considering everyone’s skills and all that

And like their dances would be super intense with enough time for solos and all that

Plus there would be tons of body waves and shirtless shit because they’re MTC that way

And at first they’re not that close, but like through training and practice they become family and it’s so obvious with the way they perform

Ramuda would really have this awesome solo career, though he’s more freelance more than anything and like drops songs like... drops... you know Drops the song

Anyway I’m missing the point

He’s more focused on fashion and was the designer for TDD (obviously), but due to conflict, he left and all that

In TDD though he’s like the surprise cutie and all that, but he’s also pretty hot on stage like... super duper hot... not a joke everyone is thirsting for Ramuda

Anyway when TDD split up, he would have just freelanced the hell out and expand his fashion line and drop songs for the rest of his life

But one day Gentaro comes in his studio and Ramuda finds the notebook full of lyrics that Gentaro just dropped by accident and Ramuda immediately sees the opportunity for him and a win for Gentaro

So he asks Gentaro (a struggling songwriter) to sing for him and Ramuda is pleased with what he finds, and realises this would be awesome for him

Next, for Dice, honestly he would be a street performer that Ramuda passed by and he just stops and like drops a shit ton of cash and his number

Jakurai Jinguji was the leader of TDD because of his seniority and him being super duper responsible

He’s so level headed, but during the split, rage was so fucking crazy

Anyway, he kind of stopped producing music, at least on a regular basis... he kind of just drops music whenever he wants to, or like tbh he opened a place to teach young people how to sing and dance really, like he’d rather spend his time helping

And he has a whole foundation and shit for sick and homeless people he wants to help and ahhhh yeah like his own music won’t really be his priority for a bit, though he would drop the occasional song

But then he meets Doppo and Hifumi, (package deal you know) and they’re like volunteer performers for one of his outreaches in hospitals and when they perform for the kids, Jakurai is blown away

Like their personalities match up and their stage presence is awesome, like even if Doppo is a tad bit shier than Hifumi, it all works out

So Jakurai approaches them after and asks if they’re interested in furthering their career (well duh)

Anyway, Jakurai teaches them what he knows and he learns some things from them as well

Soon they’re debuting a song they wrote together and when it hits off, their performances and songs and dances are so genuine because they’re like a family when they do it

And they’re not the super intense idols like the other three, like the vibe they give off camera, but they are intense

So they have those moments where their dances are so fucking cool which is hence why they are The Champions right I MEAN HAVE U HEARD SHINJUKU STYLE

It started as a whim—a joke, in fact—and became a sort of tradition.

The first time was towards the end of the first show of the Block Party tour. Samatoki had just come off stage after Rinka, and Ichiro was getting ready to close the show. He held out his fist, which Samatoki bumped with a grin, and because he was a little foolish, a little greedy, and a lot in love—

Ichiro grinned right back and joked, "Kiss for luck?"

Samatoki didn't give him a chance to laugh, to say 'just kidding'. He didn't hesitate in the slightest before ducking in and brushing his lips to Ichiro's cheek.

"Go get 'em."

Ichiro gave the best performance of his life that night, leaving the crowd as wild as he felt.

After the next show, Ichiro didn't have to ask for it. He got his fist bump, then a peck on the cheek.

After the third, Ichiro was waiting right at the bottom of the steps leading down from the stage. He got his fist bump and his kiss, and this time even dared to turn his head, brushing a kiss to Samatoki's brow.

"You were amazing," Ichiro whispered, the salt of Samatoki's sweat sweet on his lips. "Got the crowd all fired up for me."

Samatoki breathed a husky laugh in his ear and patted Ichiro's hip, his hand lingering just long enough to make Ichiro shiver. "Anything for you, Ichi."

Ichiro wasn't completely dense. He knew there was a damn good chance that they were flirting, that his feelings weren't remotely one-sided. But he also knew the energy of the tour was perfect right now, and neither of them would do anything to compromise it.

They could wait.

But they kept up their routine, their tradition. A fist bump, a kiss, set to the elated cheers of the crowd that bridged the breath between Rinka and Hiphoppia. It became comfortable, familiar. Unchanging from night to night, show to show, except for the fact that Ichiro, in his eagerness, crept a step higher up the stairs below the stage every time.

At the last show, he met Samatoki practically halfway up those stairs. Samatoki was buzzing too, eager enough that he skipped the fist bump entirely, knocking and nuzzling his forehead against Ichiro's instead, before kissing—unmistakably—the corner of Ichiro's lips.

"Take it away, babe."

Ichiro didn't bother trying to fight back a grin. "Anything for you, Samatoki-san."

He sang his heart out, because he sang for Samatoki. He always did, and that night, he knew Samatoki would feel it too.

As soon as the final note fell from his lips, Ichiro turned and raced back to the stairs. He always hurried, for the costume change before the all-stars encore, but this time he was in even more of a hurry to get backstage.

To get back to Samatoki.

Ichiro didn't have to go far. He was in Samatoki's arms before he knew it, being kissed—really kissed, lips parting against lips, just like Ichiro had been wanting since he first laid eyes on Samatoki at their auditions so long ago.

It wasn't until they parted, breathless and giddy, that Ichiro registered a change, a spike, in the energy of the crowd packing the arena. Instead of the usual chant for an encore, there was… shrieking, sobbing, endless cries of his and Samatoki's names.

It wasn't until Ichiro looked past Samatoki's shoulder and found Ichijiku glaring death at them that he realized they were pretty close to the top of the stairs.

Pretty much at the top of the stairs, in fact.

"Oh, fuck." Ichiro would feel a bit bad for it later, but he couldn't stop smiling, couldn't pull away from Samatoki, not even as realization set in. "Think, um. Think they might've seen that."

Samatoki's own smile was just as unwavering, He stretched up, bumped his forehead to Ichiro's again, and murmured, "So let them see."

They would have their agency to answer to later, their fans, their sponsors. But it was finally everyone else's turn to wait.

With his back to the stage, Ichiro cupped Samatoki's face and kissed him once more.

For all the world to see.

Doctor Jakurai vs Human Jakurai: A Thread

I was writing Home’s next chapter for Jakurai/Ramuda scenes and I came up with an interesting thought that I’d love to see handled in canon.

As someone who shares a likewise profession with Jakurai, I understand how he can calmly focus on the wounds and treat the patient instead of letting his panic/concern about what is going to happen take him over. Doctors have to focus on treatment first, after all, right? It is an emergency.

But Ramuda Amemura has always been the one who shows Jakurai he is so much more than a doctor. So much more than his social status, so much more than the Sensei TM figure everybody admires and expects solutions from. Even the rebellious characters like Samatoki and I-do-what-I-want characters like Ichiro respect when it comes to Jakurai and think he Must Know Things. His team members, while I know it’s due loving respect, call him Sensei and not his name. Ramuda is one of the few people who are on first name basis with him without any sensei added— and that has been that way since TDD, so we can’t say he was not adding sensei out of spite. In fact, he only calls Jakurai ~ s e n s e i ~ when he is annoyed with him. Ramuda seems to be painfully aware of Jakurai’s savior complex and he slaps him on face with these type of additions, though I doubt Jakurai realizes that (yet).

Anyway, for the scene in Home, Ramuda is severely injured. While writing, I just thought— what if Jakurai’s brain just stops? Because that’s usually the case with Ramuda. Ramuda makes Jakurai do crazy things and encourages his chaotic side, Ramuda calls him on first name basis, Ramuda does not idolize him to he a Great Sensei, to him he’s Just Jakurai— being a Great Sensei is a part of him, but it is not him. There is something so much more, so much valuable that is Jakurai as a whole, rather than who he can save or what he can provide. At least that’s what I hope to believe.

So, now— when Ramuda is severely injured. I thought Jakurai might have gone really clumsy in his treatment, his hands would shake— he would be overwhelmed by intense panic because it is Ramuda for god’s sake, not a random person (I’m sorry for the pun). I won’t elaborate it here since I’ll be posting it soon anyway but… Just for the context of it. Jakurai and Ramuda’s bond is so fucking beautiful and it gets me every time, both in canon and fan-made content. So lucky to have known them.

there's so much i love about the arb high school au event but i think one thing i'm going to be chewing on forever is the fact that like

when they had the tug of war competition. ichiro vs samatoki. it ended up as a draw because they pulled so hard they ripped the rope in two

and that's funny but also

we find out this is. ichiro's dream. literally even in his dreams. he doesn't beat samatoki when they have their silly little fights. and he doesn't lose to samatoki either

in his subconsciousness they're equals (even in the same year, at the same school) and that's just. i mean obviously arb is not meant to be taken seriously lol but that's a fantastic bit of characterization imo, even character development

because it's a huge, obvious change from tdd era when ichiro only idolized samatoki, it's so significant and important for him to reach this point where he does actually see samatoki as an equal

anyway. very happy with this event as if that weren't already obvious lmao
